MTV Posts Preview of JUSTICE LEAGUE: CRISIS ON TWO EARTHS!!
I am – Hercules!!
The “Superman/Batman: Public Enemies” Straight-To-Blu movie came out yesterday with a preview of “Justice League: Crisis On Two Earths.” MTV has posted this preview (which inexplicably follows 60 seconds of very old Video Music Awards news):
The press release Harry posted two weeks ago:
Warner Home Video will distribute in Spring 2010 (finalizing date soon)
An original story from award-winning animation/comics writer Dwayne McDuffie (Justice League) rooted in DC Comics’ popular canon of “Crisis” stories.
Bruce Timm (Superman Doomsday, Green Lantern) is executive producer. Lauren Montgomery (Wonder Woman, Green Lantern) and Sam Liu (Superman/Batman: Public Enemies) are co-directors.
In Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, a “good” Lex Luthor arrives from an alternate universe to recruit the Justice League to help save his Earth from the Crime Syndicate, a gang of villainous characters with virtually identical super powers to the Justice League. What ensues is the ultimate battle of good versus evil in a war that threatens both planets and, through a diabolical plan launched by
Owlman, puts the balance of all existence in peril.
All-star voice cast led by Mark Harmon (NCIS) as Superman, James Woods (Ghosts of Mississippi) as Owlman, Chris Noth (Sex and the City, Law & Order) as Lex Luthor, William Baldwin (Dirty Sexy Money) as Batman, Gina Torres (Serenity, Firefly) as Super Woman and Bruce Davison (X-Men) as the President.

I would have liked Conroy and Daly to do this, but fucking-a I like this cast.
-
Allow Americans to write the stories, but allow the Japanese art houses to animate. Match made in heaven.
-
I was suppose to be first;)
-
Love DC, love the miltiverse stuff, love a good Crisis.
-
Well, I'm on board for this one.
-
There I said it.
-
It should be worth buying this just to listen to James Woods' vocal performace. And Mark Harmon sounds like a good pick for Superman.
-
Did WB lose a suit to William Moulton Marston's estate too?
-
Yowsah!
-
Super Woman is the name of the Wonder Woman analog in the Crime Sindicate from an alternate earth just like Ultraman/Superman and Owlman/Batman.
-
How you be, slowpoke?

I posed this question in the DVD talkback but re: Power Girl
by yackbacker
Why are her tits significantly larger than Supergirl's? The multiverse thing I get, so conditions vary, etc. But the tit differential is substantial between the two Karas.
-
Finally Night Owl leaves gets the respect he deserv........wait what, that's not Night Owl?! Oh FUCK!
-
I think the reason there is a size difference between the breasts on Power Girl and Supergirl would be because Power Girl is a fully developed adult woman, and Supergirl is still a teenager.
-
Late bloomer, gotcha.
-
does not work for me. Chris Noth should have played him if the irreplacable Mr. Conroy was not an option.

Looks a heck of a lot better than Batman/Superman: Public Enemie
by the_ed_carden
Now this is what I'm talking about. I saw Batman/Superman: Public Enemies recently, and although it had some good fights, the story was dumb, and the animation looked cheap. This looks much more like what I've come to expect from Bruce Timm and co.
-
Would love to see a JSA animation project set in WW II.
-
Let's see... Season 2 "A Better World": In an alternate reality, a version of the Justice League known as the Justice Lords discovers the League's world and plot to take it over.
-
I'm with you on that one.
-
..and as their isn't a talkback for Public Enemies, let me just say it was good for what it was, and what it was was junk food. And as the source material was junk food, that means the film was pretty on target.
Let me just say i really enjoyed the music score. If at all possible, i think they should either try to keep one composer for these projects or have a given composer emulate the character themes presented in earlier works. That would help to create an enduring conceptual theme the audience can identify with the character. John Williams Superman theme, Shirley Walkers Batman theme (which she totally co-opted from Elfman). We need more branding thru music like that. -
I think Timm & Co. know of the JSA love out there. They may not to a WWII throwback, but I'll take anything JSA-centric at this point.

So it's Morrison's Earth-2. They should just call it that....
by thecomedian
I loved that book. I doubt they'll be quite as subversive have Johnny Quick be a Junkie, Owl Man sleeping with Superwoman, perve Jimmy Olsen and all that.
-
I was expecting a Golden Age vs Modern Age, something like that.
-
As far as Morrison's alternate earth scenario this is based off some that he in fact based his story on. An early DC crisis from the the 60s.
The difference between this and the Justice Lords is that although they may have been facists they were still "good guys" with what they though was the best interest of the people at heart. The alternate versions that make up the Crime Sindicate in this story are flat out evil versions. The end result might be similar but the startin point is conceptualy different. -
Check.
-
Still annoyed about Kevin Conroy not being in it... or hell, bring back the entire animated Justice League cast! They did terrific and that would free up some money ...
-
Can't wait! Batman/Superman: Public Enemies wasn't half-bad either. Animated DC continues to boink Marvel in the butt! And yes, the director-lady was geekily-cute.
-
All these new stories are rather puny in comparison, as they don't tie into a greater continuity...And I agree, Kevin Conroy IS Batman.
-

This is the story that the Justice Lords should have been
by continentalop
The idea of a superhero taking it too far was already explored in Superman: TAS when Lois goes to that Alternative future with Supes & Luthor.
Besides, I love shallow one-dimensional alternative Justice Leagues. I don't need some sort of philosophical differences - I want to see an evil Superman, an evil Batman, and an evil Green Lantern turning all their abilities loose for the wrong reasons. And that is what the CSA does. -
Personally, I LOATHE anime and love the solid animation put out by DC since Batman: The Animated Series. Surely there's more than enough room for both...
-
Bring us THE AVENGERS vs. THE SINISTER SQUAD.
Followed by them meeting the SQUADRON SUPREME (Although I don't think DC would allow it). -
...because Dragon ball Z, Pokemon, and Ghost in the Shell are all the same style right?...oy
-
That would have been neat to have Conroy's Batman vs a Woods Owlman! Plus ... directed by a chick, eh? What do they know about comic books??? heh.
-
sounds alot like George Newbern's. I thought that was him at first.
-
It all looks the same to me...
-
Is a great Batman but his voice has been cemented in the DCAU and doesn't really work outside of the DCAU, Batman: Gotham Knight is case in point. Even in the new Public Enemies with the McGiuness style character designs Conroy's voice seems off. Until they make a unified animated universe different voices shouldn't matter.

-
Not that it has anything to do with anything...I just don't like to see Republicans getting work.
-
GAME ON!
-
AMAZING THE NUMBER OF FUCKTARDS THAT HAVE CONVINCED THEMSELVES THAT ANY OF THESE ANIMATED SUPER HERO FILMS ARE WORTH A SHIT.
SERIOUSLY. THEY ARE ALL HORRID. -
The DC animated movies are like sperm covered tits. AKA, it don't get much better! Superman/Batman: Public Enemies is freaking amazing! Green Lantern is freaky-cool! And if some hawt tweener directed it, I say "here cum da sperm!"
-
McDuffie should just do ICON as an animated film, that would be something new at least
-
Very much in line with a similar themed two parter from Justice League.
-
It's not like these movies are being done by different companies...it's all the DTV animation wing of WB...get your shit together!
-
Okay, I'm a Marvelboy so I don't really know any of this stuff, but shouldn't Owlman be voiced by the same guy as Batman then (even though I love the fact they got Woods)?Or, is the alternate version of Batman a different guy under the cowl?Actually, fuck waiting for one of you guys to answer this. I'm off to Wiki!
-
I'm just not into these superhero cartoons. http://sickpicks.blogspot.com/
-
Good casting with Woods there.
-
Behold the tolerance of The Left
-
Really stupid storyline with some awful dialogue. The animation was slopp...Captain Atom looked really stupid with plates of armor type body design. Amanda Waller was written like they'd never read anything published by DC or even watched JLU. It was just fucking stupid retarded. Man, I hope this is better.
-
The Batman toy that comes with it, at least Best Buy. But I guess the movie is really bad? Not surprising considering how dumb Superman/Doomsday was. I like the Public Enemies beginning in the books where it compares the origins of Bruce & Clark.
-
I love a good fight as much as the next superhero junkie, but one of the reasons stuff like "Mask of the Phantasm" and "Return of the Joker" hold up is because there was a significant amount of plot and drama to them."Public Enemies" was, to a large degree, just one fight after another. And here's hoping James Woods reminds me more of "Hercules" than "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within".
-
..and nothing more.. And First Flight was a Saturday morning cartoon.. Don't understand your affection for TGL. Still waiting for an answer from Marvel. They have amazing material for some feature movies... but bad management?
-
Whoever didn't like it obviously doesn't read comics, because its page-for-page a perfect adaptation. Fucking perfect.
-
Kinda surprised that hasn't come up more often. I was definitely impressed with her looks (that are probably enhanced by the inherent geekiness of her profession).
-
It's all old stories. These direct to DVD movie things are putting actual comic books out of business. The art is usually shit. I don't get it.
-
Are you fucking kidding me? I could not give less of a shit about this now...
-
And an old woman pitching me what SHE thinks is exciting - I'm sure her definition and mine match perfectly. She puts on pressure socks and I rip panties with my teeth. Fuck these cartoons - and that's what they are - CARTOONS - not movies.
-
Damn. I'll have to check this out.
-
Just a blast from beginning to end. Great voice work too.
-
He's Thomas Wayne Jr., Bruce's brother from the alternate universe.
-
WONDER WOMAN was a fun movie- it could have translated well into a live action film. It was that good.
-
You NEVER get it. No offense, but you have to have the WORST taste of anyone I've ever encountered. I wasn't going to jump on the considerable bandwagon of "lockes detractors" but I can hold my figurative tongue no longer!!!
-
Because as we saw from the mention of Obama in a comic, even one that was criticizing him and his daring to want to follow the Bill Of Rights and Constitution, the Right are oh so tolerant. But of course, you only get to yell things at a person with a (D) after their names, if you criticize someone with an (R), it's treason. On the other hand, you're not helping Fett, you sound like a teabagger. On topic, this is probably going to suck, but I'm still going to see it.
-
..which is why some don't like it because the comic was fluff. Loeb was obviously channeling a full on fanboy chubby, because the entire first storyline was just a weak reason for Superman and Batman to beat up the DCU. I could just imagine him smashing his toys together narrating how kewl Supes and Bats are as they ass out the entire DC catalogue.
I remember reading the comic and getting more and more disgusted from issue to issue. When they beat up Hawkman and Captain Marvel OFF SCREEN and took their clothes i threw the comic across the room. Haven't picked up an issue since. -
These movies are ten times better than some of the crap in the stores to read.
-
"I rip panties with my teeth"...ya know, it generally works better if you just put them on with your hands! Or did I miss something?!
-
-and some Giant Robots. Get them in there, and----I'll watch it on USA sometime.
-
would make pretty awesome movies. Hope they do them someday...Look at all the pretty colors! AND SUPER-ZOMBIES!
-
Actually seems pretty sub par to me.
-
You got me - that was a good one. you should be directing this thing.
-
While someone already cited the inspiration being Earth 2 for this story, I have zero problem with that or the fact that whereas we may be on well worn ground where alternate versions of the Justice League are at work, the real interest will come in seeing the alternate Luthor and watching Superman have to come to grips with even contemplating that his worst enemy could turn up on the right side beyond mere selfish reasons.
-
and in fact, was actually pretty cool. will definitely give it a look. admittedly, i was worried when it was announced that they were going with all-new voice actors, but i think the new cast will work. Noth as Supes in particular.
-
Sep 30, 2009 10:23:06 PM CDT
and by Chris Noth, of course i meant Mark Harmon
by jackknifed_juggernaut
um... uh... damn lack of edit key?
-
Look at the yams on that broad!
-
Was fucking great. Better then anything DC has released lately beside maybe Wonder Woman. Hulk Vs. was so good it actually made X-Men Origins: Wolverine seem even shittier to me and I didn't think that was possible. Damn that Wolverine Origins is a piece of shit.
Anyway, no Conroy no buy. Fuck a baldwin playing Batman. -
with every god damn DC animated movie?!?!?! Seriously, though. Nothing takes me out of a cartoon movie more than when a voice doesn't sound the way it SHOULD sound. Conroy and Daly ARE Batman and Superman, and should NEVER be replaced in a DC made cartoon..PERIOD. What the fuck are they doing that they can't take a week or less to do the voice acting to make it the way it should be? I'm sure they would love to do it, and could use the money. Why the fuck is DC hiring on "bigger" ( and I use the term lightly, who the fuck wants a Baldwin in here anyways?) actors to take over these roles that we love so much with the already well established actors portraying these comic icons? I don't know why, and I don't want them to do it anymore.....fucking lame....BTW I still need to pick up Superman/Batman. I own most of the run of the comics and will own the DVD soon. Love what they did early on but it kind of fell off after awhile. But the first few arcs are great IMHO
-
That's right, I said it.
-
Or was that Night Owl... either wa is it for some reason the same character???
-
Is that what passes for a story idea now? Um, we need some new bad guys, oh I know, another alternalt earth and make the good guys have twin bad guys.
LAME. -
prefers to be left alone. He sure is a grump in person, if you greet him at his table at a con. Got a cool sketch from him, though, 50 bucks in cold hard cash.
-
he was at his desk at the end, before his explosion of rage. He intimidated and frightened my girl, who is an admirer of his work.
-
JAMES WOODS!
-
Would any of you fucktards yelling "OMG JAMES WOODS FTW" even know who he was if he wasn't a running joke on Family Guy?
-
so that's what matters!
-
Not sure what I was trying to say there, actually...
-
Kevin Conroy is Batman. They should not keep changing the voices, but keep the continuity. If anything this makes me not want to watch it.
-
Just the opposite. People see these movie, get interested in the characters and stories, then buy comics.
-
Can't speak for other people and I don't watch FG, but JAMES WOODS has always been the man and my favorite actor.
I saw him walking down the street wearing shades and a chick was walking by and he did the drop my shades and wink bit - and her vagina exploded. -
Yes, Conroy is the best Batman voice but that doesn't mean he's cemented in the role for life in my eyes.
-
Owlman (the guy in this movie) is a DC character from 1964. He is Thomas Wayne Jr (Bruce Wayne's brother in a different dimension). Nite Owl from the Watchmen didnt come along until 1986. So, they are different characters, but Owlman precedes the Watchmen's Nite Owl by over 20 years.

Seriously, raise your hand if you'd make love to Conroy's voice
by yackbacker
I want to weed out the really horny Batman fans.
-
Dc needs to make a normal length movie or call it an "episode".
-
was terrible! The voice acting was the best, the fights were short, and the story was a 2-part episode of Justice League Season two!
I second the idea of bringing back the original voice casts of JL Season 1 and it wold leave some money to get the animation right! -
Really, why not? I mean, it's there.
-
There is actually an answer to your question about Power Girl's tits being so much bigger, but it's not related to anything in her backstory or whatever. It's related to an artist, Wally Wood. I don't recall the book (could be Justice League Europe, but not sure) he decided to draw PG with bigger and bigger tits as each issue came out. He says he was waiting for someone say something about it.Funny thing is, no one ever said anything...so her tits just got bigger and bigger. What's not to love?
-
And it was kind of mediocre. But then again, I wasn't expecting much, mostly because the comic that it was based on was equally mediocre.
It seemed to me like the entire storyline was an excuse to have Supes and Bats fight a bunch of heroes/villains in some kind of fanwank deathmatch. Being a fan myself, I can understand the attraction. . .but the end product seems a bit underwhelming. -
Yeah, the captain atom fight from the Tv series was much better. It's on youtube. Of course if the movie wasn't just 67 MINUTES there would be more time to fight.
-
These are some fun times and who cares if Billy Baldwin is a Republican? At least he's not a scumbag liberal.
-
in the movie and he said "Yeah and 22% of people said they'd like to get fucked up the ass by a red hot poker." That's pretty harsh for an animated feature, even if key words were bleeped.
-
I don't know why, but the casual use of that phrase gave me douche chills. Did someone get a memo with their promotional copies.
-
Just like whenever they make a Superman movie, they should always use the score by John Williams, whenever a Superman, Batman, Lex Luthor movie is made with them in it, the original voice actors should always be used. And since this is a Justice League movie, they should have been using the original voice actors from the get go!!!
