Michael Myers Must Wait...
Merrick here...
Nikki Finke over at Deadline Hollywood has an interesting little piece about a delay of production on the next HALLOWEEN movie.
Sure, the rumor mill claims TWC is out of money amid all those layoffs, and TWC couldn't agree on a $2.5M budget battle with Lussier, and TWC had key crew ready to fly to Shreveport. But I understand that Bob Weinstein shut down H3D pre-production "because Bob just felt it was rushing too fast." Now Dimension plans to start the film after My Bloody Valentine 3D helmer Lussier is free.
So, is H3-D a casualty of The Weinstein Co's struggling finances? Did The Powers That Be suddenly develop a conscience re: "rushing" a project into production? Or, is the truth somewhere in between?
Read Nikki's article HERE for more details.

somewhere inbetween." I love your accidental quoting of STAR TREK VI, Merrick!
-
How's the new Freddi Krooger movie doing, Merrick?
-
Those last two were beyond bad and destroyed and interest I could ever have in the franchise.
-
Praise allah Bob Weinstein has admitted some sort of failure!
-
Sucking too hard?
-
not really bothered either.
-
Bc I'm sure the script for H3 is stellar... wait a sec, who am I kidding. They don't give a shit about the "Script".
-
And fuck this rebooted franchise. They're an abomination. An insult to the original.
-
Michael Meyers is an attorney in El Segundo.
-
I've read the script and its funny, you think AICN would have scoops on that

WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH THIS SITE THE LAST FEW DAYS?
by the fly on the wall
We get a story on "H3-D" that's already more than 24 hours old, and AICN still hasn't posted the trailer the new "Nightmare on Elm Street" which by last report, is closing in on 3 million views (and I thought was cool).
Are you guys not covering the new Nightmare film for a reason? I actually sent the link to Harry the moment it was on myspace tv. What gives? -

NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET TRAILER IS FUCKING AWESOME!!!
by supercowbell5thecowbellhasspoken
ITS ON IGN RIGHT NOW!!!
-
Are you guys living in the past or something?
-
Damn right it is, good sir.
Or here:
http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.channel&vanity=trailerpark
Besides the voice and the look (which after 20 viewings I finally have started to love, not to mention we will know more when we SEE more) I fucking love it! -
What? I thought they were omnipotent. What's with the studios fearing bankruptcy even though they rake in millions at the box office? I think it's time to bring down the budgets. I heard Ridley Scott in an interview saying that film budgets skyrocketing makes no sense when you look at the pace of inflation. On a tangent: Who knows how much better (it would have to be) and cheaper, Indy 4 would have been if Lucas and Speils would have adopted a strict rule to only use the types of effects available to them back when they did the original trilogy. But, I'm sure no one really gives a shit. Cha-ching...blah blah blah...Yoda can suck Short Round's balls or whatever.
-
Although I like both of Zombie's Halloween films despite their flaws, they need more time to figure out exactly what they like and don't like. Is it another reboot or will they keep the Zombie mythology alive? Will it just be a nondescript Michael meyers story not set in any particular "universe"? This is pretty important stuff to hammer out and rushing into production is a really stupid idea. Bob was right to postpone it.
-
I would love to see it...
-
Provided some great discussions in the Talkbacks.
-
Mustve missed it. Oh well I just saw it and it looks good. Too bad Michael bays name is in the trailer. Almost killed it for me
-
...didn't post on the internet until Sunday night. AICN hasn't mentioned it. Not once. If they did it would still be on the main page more than likely.

Thank you, D. Vader! What's wrong with these fucking idiots?
by yackbacker
Seriously, I'm fucking tired to stupid people. Do your fucking due diligence before you go bitching about something that isn't the case. Fucking assholes, apologize.
-
I HAVE seen where someone posted it on a talk back, I'm just am not finding it as a main report. If anyone has a link that would be golden.
I am surprised that Harry or any of these other cats haven't mentioned it, is all I saying.
If they have, I would love to see their thoughts and report. -
Quint posted it.
-
How fucking long does it take for people to get a clue?
-
was on aicn a couple of days ago you nob
-
I recommend going to that talkback and complaining that he hasn't posted about Halloween 3 being delayed.
http://www.aintitcool.com/node/42515 -
I guess because I didn't see the original report and have asked for a link or example I am a "fucking idiot", huh yackback?
Are you one of those tea-bagging conservatives we keep seeing on the news calling people names?
Smart cat, that one. -
Sorry, I'm usually not so annoyed by stupidity but this shit is sad. You're the same people that flip out in those Burger King commercials when the drive-thru lady says "we don't sell the Whopper anymore." Fucking dumb.
-
Some people just want to bitch and want reasons to bitch, so they don't do their homework. I know, bc I was one of them once. I still bitch every once in awhile when I completely disagree with the website's treatment (or non-treatment) of a particular movie, when they screw up (The Clone Wars debacle), or when someone gets banned. I've complained many, many times. And one of those times I was bitching about the lack of a story, but in reality I had actually missed it myself. Whoops. I had to eat some crow and move on and since then, I've been a bit more thorough in my research before I let the complaints fly. Perhaps this is Fly on the Wall's moment of clarity.
-
Oh if only! No man, your profiling skills are weak, moron. I voted for Obama early and often. Thanks for playing though.
-
Speaking of which, I need to see his video review of video reviews.
-
as we don't need another bastardization of Carpy's classic franchise. Thanks for nuttin Rob Z.
-
I can admit, I missed it. I did check out the site all day Monday so I'm surprised I did. But thanks for the link. I agree that it would have been nice to bring Englund back, but I still dig the trailer.
I guess I'll just wait for the genius of "yackback" to continue with his brilliant insults. -
But when it's justified. I've seen more and more asshats running around the TBs lately saying "AICN is a joke!" and then posting regularly for hrs after the fact. If this site is so awful, go somewhere else. The truth is this site is awesome. They miss stories sometimes, and they fucked up like you mentioned with CLONE WARS, but they also hook up their readers with screenings and they give them a place to rant and interact. Ungrateful, uninformed assholes are everywhere lately. I'm just calling them out on their bullshit.
-
to go for another Halloween movie? Nobody fuckin' seen H2 and everybody who did said it sucked.
-
Stories get moved off the main page to make room for new stories in the order that they were posted. Therefore, if there have been a lot of stories since Monday, then the Nightmare trailer will get pushed off. It has nothing to do with liking or disliking the story. Next time, if you think the site has missed a story or you think YOU have missed a story, I suggest going up to the COOL NEWS link on the top of the site and that will prevent these misunderstandings in the future.
-
You missed it, yes. Did you apologize to AICN? No, you're too awesome to do that, right?
-
I suppose I could count two if you voted for him in the primaries, but how could you vote for the man "often" unless you live in Illinois and voted for him as a Senator?
-
No mention of this re-release of Zombie's Halloween II at Halloween? They should've just released it at Halloween in the first place. The reason why nobody releases any horror movies at Halloween is because of the Saw movies, but people only see the Saw movies because they're the only horror movies released on Halloween. Vicious Cycle.
-
Good job with covering it, sorry I missed it.
YackBacker: Go fuck yourself, you cocksucking, douchbagging fucknut!
-
But most of my bitching stemmed from the fact that I've been coming here since 1996 and I've watched this site fall so low and the mods act in such embarrassingly awful ways that it almost made me ashamed to say I still came to this website first every day when I log on to the internet. There was a period last year where AICN just hit a bad streak, a slump where everything they did was wrong- bannings, bad stories, non-stories, getting scooped, getting things wrong, etc etc. It was embarrassing and I think my complaints were justified then. I just go so annoyed with the site for a time. But they've gotten better since then. That said, you're right, there are a lot of complaints that don't seem to fit the case nowadays.
-
"Vote early and often" is an old joke.
-
There's an old quote attributed to Chicago Mayor Richard Daly where he said "Vote early... and often!" It's a play on the old timey politics of corruption. If you have Google on your computer, you can read up on it more if you're curious. Have a good day.
-
A great point. Saw may dissuade other Studios from taking that date, but wouldn't have "Halloween II" done better if it was in theater around...Halloween?!
TWC has no one to blame but themselves. It's a pretty easy date to remember, especially if the title is the same as the holiday! -
Sorry, had to be said.
-
Not interested enough to actually find out. I'll just pretend it's a debate about solving the world hunger problem, or creating more jobs for Americans.
-
I don't need to take a pissing contest with a talkback punk. I came on here for the first time today to ask about the Nightmare trailer and talk about film. If you want to go there with politics and film lets go there, being that I majored in both.
-
Sep 30, 2009 1:03:41 PM CDT
Fly, who's talking about a pissing contest other than you?
by yackbacker
You seemed to not know the quote, so I gave you the history of it. I love being called a punk by someone so insignificant. It's really amusing.
-
Oooh, a Bachelors degree! I bow down before the power!
-
..then why are you having an argument with him? Dumbass. These fucking idiotic 'you're nothing you amuse me' type comments only show what an asshole the person doling them out is.
-
As well as someone with such a hilarious supremacy complex calling someone young that they have never met and knows nothing about.
"Hypocrisy: prjudice with a halo"-AmbroseBierce -
And they want to waste money on a sequel? BTW: That "Jennifer's body POS has dragged in only $12,765,663. B O M B S.
-
I agree. At least I admit that Yack and I are both assholes.
I guess I like to take a fight or debate too much! It's in the blood.
Though I am ready to talk about movies... -
Good point about the box office on that and "Jennifer's Body". Though H:2 will still turn a small profit, and even more so on DVD. Perhaps it's all TWC has that they can bank on, which is sad.
I guess there like the 1980's New Line Cinema in that way. -
The less said about Yoko's Cool Cuts and SG, the better!
-
People can't even have a good flame war anymore. Humorless! Smegma, you stay classy and above board as always!
-
That we're all so disinterested in this story that we are instead talking about whether or not AICN missed a story on Moday. DAYAM! personally AICN misses, doesn't care about, or is several days late for most things going on in the movie realm. Maybe their main page should just be a link to slashfilm.AICN's one golden ace is the awesome chaos of the talkbacks. Too many times to count that I have read something in a talkback and laughed so hard I had to remember to breath.
-
The first thing we agree on all day!
And no doubt we could burn it up all day if we wanted to. Well played, sir. -
The NIGHTMARE trailer looked good, but the remake feels unnecessary (most remakes feel that way, don't ya think?).
-
The funny thing is I was thinking the same thing! I log on, read the post about H3-D and dismiss it entirely and start bitching about the Nightmare trailer.
Not a good sign from us for the Halloween franchise! -
Welcome to the talkbacks. You sound smart, I'm sorry I called you a fucking moron, etc. Smegma, I don't know if you're smart but you're a crazy s.o.b. and that counts for something in my book.

Oh, the irony of a TBer named "Smegma" being called classy...

-
He knows nothing about physical media but he's Baleworthy for his insane TB posts. ;)
-
But I have to say I am stoked about the new Nightmare flick. I however, am biased. I fucking loved those films in the eighties, so even if it looked like shit I would still be intrigued. The rest of the remakes though, have me uninterested so I see your point. I would have LOVED for Robert Englund to have come back in a prequel or some other story, but at least this new one looks good and the new Freddy is a perfect casting choice.
-
He's been doing great things. http://sickpicks.blogspot.com/
-
DV has spoken.
-
My apologies as well. I suppose when someone calls you out (like we both did) one must defend themselves. After being called out by smegma though, I figured we should start hitting movies hard or both go down in flames by the rest of the talk backers. That would not have been a good start for me on here! Diplomacy rules the day!
-
I liked the original NIGHTMARE series up to and including part IV- saw them in the theaters and they stand as a testament to '80s horror. Wes Craven created an awesome character and concept with Freddy. I can deal with no Englund this time around because, as you've stated, the casting for the remake is solid. I wonder how much character work they're going to do with him... make him sympathetic probably on some level, which will be interesting. But remember the Hannibal Lector prequel? That was fucking silly.
-

I respoectfully disagree and think it looks great.
by the fly on the wall
-
Yes, I will learn how to type on here someday too.
-
I've spent most of my time at AVS Forum and high Def Digest discussing and learning about nothing but physical media. In fact I created 2 of the most popular physical media threads of all time at AVS, The Tier Thread for HD DVD PQ and The Tier Thread for Blu-ray PQ. They still exist but others are running them there now. I exported my lists to www.worldofkj.com. I'm also quoted on the official Sony Superbit website. So I think I know a little sumthin' sumthin' about the subject. ;)
-
What does the "D" in your name stand for? Dolemite? Danger?
-
I hope you get fiber optic infrastructure in your neighborhood soon. Alas, we all have a Constitutional right to fiber optic cable/internet.
-
After seeing Fett's post about physical media, it makes me wonder how many other filmmakers are in these talkbacks...
-
The attempts to redo the same scenes from the previous movie- the glove in the water, Tina floating above the bed- only serve to remind us that the original is superior and that this remake can't touch it. The glove in the water is so unoriginal (its the same fucking shot) and Tina floating above the bed looks somehow faker than it did almost 20 years ago. The surreal "dream" sequences, however, are the only area where this film can be better than the original.
-
But perhaps its best to leave it a mystery.
-
I have no problem with them telling a similar story to the original, but the EXACT same shots are a bit irritating.
The stuff with Freddy before he burned, the production design (finally, a fucking BUDGET for a nightmare flick!) and the dream sequences look stunning to me, though. We are finally getting a nightmare flick in this era of effects* to TRUELY showcase the dream world, and the movie will swim or sink with a lot of those.
*I know "Freddy vs. Jason" were made with modern digital effects, but I am referring to just a Nightmare flick. -
Sequels with new actors playing the leads are also eligible. So, if you really wanted to include SUPERMAN RETURNS you could, but prepare for a lot of abuse.
-
R&D some of their extra features. You can thank me for being able to use USB keyboards on their BD Live stuff as an example. I hope they institute some of my other ideas because I think they were pretty cool.Since we're talking about Freddy, one of my suggestions was a 3D explorable environment in the theme of the film like the one on the bonus disc of the Nightmare collection to house hidden extras. They thought that would be too expensive to impliment, but if they get a big title it's a possibility.I've also been a paid reviewer for several newspapers and websites, which is how I ended up getting quoted by Sony.Ok, done tooting my horn....for now.
-
And we are still talking about everything else BUT H3-D!!
-
32 million in five weeks on a 15 million dollar budget makes it profitable and that is why the interest in a sequel. For the record, I liked both of Zombie's Halloweens a lot and wish they would leave the franchise alone for a while. Myers was killed at the end of H2 and Laurie was in an asylum. There is nowhere for the series to go at this point. You can't have Laurie break out and be the killer. That would just be silly. Malek Akkad and the Weinsteins just need to step back, take a few years away from this and then reboot again if they must.
-
Congratulations on the industry gigs. Respect.
-
Could you guys imagine a fully 3-D Nightmare on Elm Street flick. Oh, baby!

But not a technician like it appears our friend Fett is.

Good question about favorite remakes and sequels with new actors
by the fly on the wall
I need to think on that one for a few. A simple one would be Batman Begins, if it counts.
Hmm... -
I liked Zombie's H1 *better* than the original except for 1 aspect. Michael lost all of his unexplained evil mystique. I have not seen h2 yet.
-
Off the top of my head all I can think of are King Kong and Batman Begins. I don't think I've enjoyed any other "remakes", certainly none of the horror ones. Course, I avoided many of them. Best horror remakes of all time are The Fly and The Thing. But at this point, I think we're beating a dead horse.
-
As pointed out by Darth Mulder, $15 million profit on H2 in this economy is enough to inspire a sequel. Jennifer's Body however, is a waste of time.
-
Very cool. Good luck on your projects, whatever they may be.
-
Did not win the last two competitions I entered into, but did make it to the Top Ten.
-
Kidding. Film school rejects has a great link to start our
discussion: http://www.filmschoolrejects.com/opinions/the-ten-best-movie-remakes-of-all-time.php. A few I agree with (and forgot about, and a few I don't. -
3:10 to Yuma
Dawn of the Dead
The Departed
The Hills Have Eyes
The Producers
Quarantine
The Ring
The Thomas Crown Affair
The Wicker Man (not good, just fun) -
One of my favorite remakes, and not because it has my name in it!
-
I don't think the 'Nightmare' trailer looks too bad. I'm curious to see how he portrays Freddy. Englund out of that shtick is alittle mind blowing.
-
... his 3-D zombie movie anyway, rather than the sloppy seconds (thirds?) of Rob Zombie.
-
Probably shouldn't have even brought that up. Didn't mean to give you the wrong impression. I did a couple of MoLog's on Lionsgate's Rambo Blu-ray. The guys who did it were impressed how I used the technology so they contacted me. These guys were pretty young and not part of the "HD Community" so they wanted my input about some ideas they had and wondered what sorts of things I as a BD fan was looking for. We spent several hours on the phone talking about this and we emailed back and forth several times. They also sent me a virtual keyboard application which was shit, and I told them so. Due to some of my input they dramatically changed the MoLog interface so it's far simpler to use. i also told them to put all their BD-Live material into one portal. They didn't like that idea because they want that material to be exclusive to each title but I told them that material would engage them to BUY the other titles. They saw my point, but so far have not implimented that. I told them to use a rewards system to encourage people to buy more of their Blu-rays but they haven't done that yet either. They were excited about the idea however. I haven't talked to those guys in quite awhile but they may contact me again. Sometimes when they try something new like an editing suite (can't remember what title that was), they ask me what I thought of it. They've sent me a couple of blu-rays as payment, but they weren't ones I wanted so I gave them away or sold them on ebay.
-
Well done Merrick. I'm sure we can trust your sources when you can't even get the surname of one of horror's most well-known icons correct.
-
Or...sorry, we're talking about his brother Mikey. I didn't even know he had a brother!
-
...of the last decade(though it's not horror and is more of a "reboot") would be Casino Royale. Loved batman Begins. 3:10 to Yuma and King Kong though.
-
BATMAN BEGINS is a remake in my book, FLY and it's awesome (sorry, C-lop, if you're reading this). I'm going to go pop culture and say STAR TREK was a good remake- say what you will about the plot being questionable in places, they managed to recapture the joy of TREK again and they set themselves up for a new period of longevity. CAPE FEAR is probably one of my favorite remakes in the last 20 years- De Niro made that movie worthwhile. I liked THE DEPARTED but I still prefer INFERNAL AFFAIRS (but as remakes go, Scorsese did well). I know there's another good one that I want to mention but it's not coming to me off the bat. Let's see if someone else mentions it.
-
Fucking loved that movie. Good work, eustisclay!
-
I'm fucking baffled by that decision.
-
but I loved the Texas chainsaw Massacre remake. Also dawn of the Dead. Before these two films came out 9in the same year), I was sure every remake (aside from Night of the Living Dead by Tom Savini) was doomed to suck ass. They broke the losing streak and now I'm pretty fine with remakes. The NOES trailer, along with the script review doesn't instill much confidence however.
-

One of my favourite remakes was "Man On Fire" (2004)
by christian_bale_trashed_my_lights
It was far superior in almost every way to the 1987 original.
-
I love the new Batmans, warts and all. Actually, the last Punisher was a lot better than I expected, also. My favorite remake on the list was probably 3:10 to Yuma, just because I'm starved for good modern westerns, and that one delivered. I haven't seen Star Trek but I imagine that would rank, too (sorry, Asimov). I haven't seen [REC] either, but even if it completely blows Quarantine away, I still enjoyed the remake. Casino Royale is another good one, but QoS was a let down. I wish there were more remakes in the vein of Thomas Crown, for sure. Hopefully some of the ones on deck can live up to that example, but I don't have high expectations; most of the remakes now are just brand name cash-ins, but we could get lucky. -
is MEYERS you stupid fucks!check these things out before bitching! Michael Myers is the love guru guy!Get the difference?
-
But did Sam Raimi remake it or just use the title? Just watched it again on Blu-ray and I still love it.
-
sounds like some late night music block show from 1986. FAIL
-
Excellent. I liked 3:10, haven't seen the original to compare it with unfortunately. And ebonic, I haven't seen WAR ZONE yet but I'll probably check it out this week- keep meaning to see it and keep forgetting. This is my weekly reminder.
And FETT, I haven't seen the new TEXAS but I did love DAWN OF THE DEAD. -

Speaking of westerns, I've seen TOMBSTONE 1,000 times I think
by yackbacker
That movie never gets old.
-
What other directors have re-made their own movies like that? The only ones I can think of are Haenke with "Funny Games" and Rodriguez with "El Mariarchi/Desperado," but both of those have more obvious reasons (remade in English/remade with a budget.) The Fly is a modern horror classic and a milestone of horror special effects, that helped make Jeff Goldblum a star. I can understand some new up-and-comer wanting to put their spin on it, but how could Cronenberg think he could outdo himself? -
And the world rejoiced.
-
That and Unforgiven, obviously. It's like how you used to have to start all lists of "favorite anime" with Akira and Ninja Scroll to verify geek cred. But Tombstone is a moustache tour-de-force. And the best cast of real men this side of Predator. "Skin that smokewagon and see what happens!" Every movie should end with that cast walking slowly toward the camera, sternly squinting. -
compared the original 'Halloween to 'Psycho.'
-
Ringu and The Ring were both directed by the same guy.
-
A kid sits waiting in his padded room, never saying a word, until the perfect Halloween night when he comes to kill Rob Zombie and everyone involved with those two movies that ruined his favorite horror franchise.
-
I caught most of it the other night, but still need to see it in it's entirety. It was interesting to me to see how much of that movie is shot within one room, rather than the open range that usually dominates westerns. I also learned that it was adapted from Elmore Leonard's first western story, which in retrospect seems pretty obvious when you hear the dialogue. -
When I saw the title of this thread, I thought they were going to delay the release of "The Love Guru 2". Thank God! Hopefully we will get more Mike Meyers real soon.
-
You sir, are a fucking moron.http://tinyurl.com/y926u2eProof that you are said fucking moron.
-
They're both fucking 'Myers.'
-
i know these arent budget heavy movies featuring huge stars but come on. thats nothing, that would proably barely cover catering or something.

They put the brakes on H3? You mean "suck" has a speed limit?
by jawsfan
-
The last time the Akkad's rushed a Halloween film into the theater one year after the last effort was "Halloween 5," being drunk on the box-office success of "Halloween 4." The result was a sloppy, unsatisfying sequel. Adding to the difficulty of getting the film in the can and ready to be seen in less than a year is the additional burden of using 3-D technology. Now, the budgets on these films are likely even less than most of you think they are, which is why even a relative box-office disappointment like Rob Zombie's "Halloween 2" has already turned a healthy profit and will double that on DVD. However, when you're rushing a project like they are, it's likely more money than usual will need to be thrown at the project to get everyone in place and fix all the problems, and with the financial crunch going on, that's not a good idea either.
-
Jack Bauer and Nina Myers!!!!!!!!!!!

the man on fire remake is a new classic!!!!
by supercowbell5thecowbellhasspoken
i keep dropping in on this talkback every few hours since im at work but i saw a man on fire reference and nearly shit all over the place!
-
I really liked that one, too. Great use of NIN, and a perfect build up to the scene with Denzel promising to "kill 'em all." Walken and Fanning were really good in it too. I'd say it was unabashedly awesome if it wasn't for the seizure inducing editing and inclusion of other blatant Tony Scott-isms.
-
Didn't know that about Ringu/The Ring, either. But I can explain that as a film being re-made for a different (American) audience, which is somewhat understandable. But Cronenberg remaking his own movie for (arguably) the same audience? I'm not saying it's a bad thing-- much rather see Cronenberg do it than some work-for-hire hack-- just a bit hard to understand. -
so if i posted a link to some shit saying that your mom fucks pigs it would be true?stupid fuck!!!i'm holding in my hand the fucking dvd, guess what it says on the back? MICHAEL MEYERS!!!
-
Of course it's gonna wait.
-
Michael was constantly vicious in the movie. Zombie really could've fucking done something there."
-
...that Zombie is off this. I gave the first remake a chance, after all Grud knows the Halloween sequels weren't exactly great - only Carpenter's original is holy ground. I hadn't thought much of Zombie up to that point, I know he gets a lot of love for Devil's Rejects, but I saw nothing of worth in it or anything else he'd done. Still, I gave him the benefit of the doubt and watched it. And boy, do I want that two hours of my life back. Worse than the worst sequel of the original. Good grief, it was bad. Awful Sucktacular. From this point on, Zombie's had all the chances he was ever going to get with me. No film of his will befoul mine eyes again. I do however think there is a lot of mileage in Michael Myers - the original proves it, the fact we all still love the character proves it. I just hope whoever takes this franchise on next understands him better and ditches this recent reimagining, starts fresh and gives us a Michael for the next 30 years.
-
that is was a stupid fucking idea in the first place. How 'bout sucking my balls in 3d hollywood!
-
C'mon guys, I'm surprised you haven't heard that this is a reboot of "Seasons Of The Witch", Mikey won't even be in it at all. Also, even though H2 sucked in my opinion, any movie they do without the stupid white horse, and little mike, will be better than H2.
-
I would see every Meryl Streep movie in Smell-O-Vision- I hear she smells like liquid sex.
-
any movie that doubles it's budget is not a "BOMB". $15mil to make, and last time I checked, it had $30mil in the box office.
-
It's a screen shot of Judith MYERS tombstone from the movie, douchebag. So what DVD you're holding is beyond me. Considering Halloween 5 was titled THE CURSE OF MICHAEL (FUCKING) MYERS, ya fruitbat.Link provided.http://tinyurl.com/ye8j9jq

Jester is right.

i'd say let them. Just add Michael in the mix even if it's just for a moment or two.

"correct spelling of horror icon name is MEYERS you stupid fucks!check these things out before bitching!" Hey, maybe you've got a rare misprinted DVD. Put it on Ebay.

anyone can photoshop a tombstone and elvis's middle name is misspelled on his and he was the FUCKING KING!!!also everyone knows none of the sequels count after III
-
Thomas Crown Affiar, Dawn of the Dead, Casino Royale, The Ring, The Departed- all forgotten they were remakes. Good call guys.
-
Gore Verbinski directed The Ring. I was thinking of The Grudge. Takashi Shimizu directed both the original Ju-On, Ju-On 2 and the the first 2 Grudge movies.
-
Merrick misspelled it too, he must have the same DVD. I'm interested to know what this new director is going to do. I can't see him picking up where Zombie left off, and having it work, at all.
-
We'll have to wait at least a full year for this shitty 3D remake/sequel/reimagining/prequel/repackaging? "Halloween 2" was the worst film I think I've ever seen but "My Bloody Valentine 3D" actually gave me a migraine.
-
A lot of arguing could be stopped if the fans who didn't like Zombie's Halloweens would just admit that they prefer a fantasy version of Halloween instead of a realistic slant.
You all want a Michael Myers who always wears a clean white mask, regardless of the circumstances. How does it stay so pristine?
You hated the fact that he "looks like a hobo" and has long hair and a beard. Should he shop at the Gap and go to a barber shop every once in a while for a trim?
He eats dogs and presumably other animals he kills. Do you really see him sitting down at a diner or swinging through Burger King for a whopper? Imagine the outcry if Zombie showed him eating out of a dumpster.
He grunts when he kills people. He's still a real person in Zombie's film, so of course he's not totally silent at all times. Have you all forgotten his heavy breathing in the original?
If you didn't like Zombie's films for any of these reasons, that's fine. But at least admit that you prefer fantasy versions of these characters as opposed to anything resembling reality. Zombie presents Michael and the other characters as they would be in our world. In reality, would Loomis dedicate his life to following a former patient around and rating about how he was still alive, or would he just cash in on the misery of others? Should Laurie and Annie just go back to "normal" after surviving such trauma?
Like it or not, Michael Myers is a character that can be interpreted many different ways, like Batman or Dracula. Zombie's take on Halloween wasn't "wrong", it was different. Every one of you whiny bitches who fixates on Zombie's changes sound like autistic kids. -
Original Ringu director Hideo Nakata did come to America to direct the sequel, The Ring 2. That may have confused you also.
-
At first glance it looks successful, but once you look at how studios make money you see that it lost money. Studios only recoup about 50% of the take because the rest goes to the theaters. So right off the bat it only broke even. Once you include the $30 to strike prints, ship them all over the world and advertise all over the world (I'm being very modest, it was probably more), then you see that it was just an interesting way to lose money. It will of course regain all of that eventually on video and deals to show on HBO and a sanitized version for network TV, etc. One thing TWC is doing to save capital right away is to SELL those rights to other studios! They sold the home video right for Inglorious Basterds to Universal for example! I don't care bad they need cash right now, that was fuckin' STUPID!
-
I don't think Bomb is the right word when you compare it to movies that actually did bomb like the $120Mil Speed Racer film, or Love Guru. Those were bombs. Also as I'm sure you know, bombs don't usually get sequels green lit by major studios, unless they go STV.
-
A sequel to Halloween Part2, part 2 could work since it is quite obvious the whole film was just a dream!
-
They should of never gave up home video rights. Basterds is going to do bookoo bucks on DVD & Blu. I know I'll be picking up my copy ASAP.
-
Since the Weinsteins seem to be helping him out with his legal difficulties maybe they could offer HIM the rebooted 3rd installment. Assuming his current problem blows over.
-
Worse than the worst of the original sequels? Apparently you haven't seen Resurrection. Anybody who hates what Zombie has done with Halloween should blame that movie. If Resurrection hadn't turned Michael into such a fucking joke, maybe the Akkads wouldn't have taken such extreme action to reboot the franchise.
-
JOHN KARPENTER and he confirmed that it is MEYERS!!!!SO SUCK IT BITCHES!!!
-
Haha, yeah, I really didn't like Resurrection. But I didn't really expect much out of it. I like all of Zombie's films except for Halloween 2. I thought the remake was cool, and walked into H2 really thinking it was going to rock. But the direction wasn't very good, the ending was confusing at best, and Myres magically transports himself around like Hiro from Heros. Not to mention 15 second long shots of a dude saying "fuck" over, and over, and over. Don't get me wrong I'm a fan of the word, but it just didn't work. I did like a few of the kill scenes, and a few other small things about the film, but overall I was really disappointed.

is HEROES.i just got off the phone with GEORGE TAKEI and he agrees!!!

Maybe I should of looked that up on the back of a DVD.

no,that's that guy who sings lame songs and occasionally bangs jennifer aniston.i just got off the phone with DAVID SCHWIMMER and he says i'm right.
-
The guy that said "fuck" over and over was supposed to be in incredible pain, bleeding internally and realizing that he was pretty much fucked. He was dying. Was he supposed to come up with witty dialogue, or just groan and moan? Seriously, I can't believe anybody uses that scene as a criticism against the movie. I found it pretty intense precisely because it felt like, if I was in that situation, I wouldn't be able to muster up much more than that. Would you?
-
i am still waiting for it.what happened to it?
-
More hardcore but no one gives a fuq

This doesn't really have to do with the subject of delays, but this far down the talk back column it probably don't matter.

"The guy that said "fuck" over and over was supposed to be in incredible pain, bleeding internally and realizing that he was pretty much fucked" Yes. CaptainObvious, I did realize that, but they could of done something more than sit on the same shot long after the point was taken. That's just my opinion. Sadly, your right, that was one of the more intense parts of the movie, and I was still with Rob 100% at that point. *spoilers* Some of the dream stuff was pretty cool, I loved it when he stomped that dude's head in, and most of the other kills in the movie. One thing that bothered me was when he killed that chick, and the wolfman kid, then *poof* he is at the Sheriff's house. Let's not talk about that though. Let's talk about the 20 min scene in the hospital. It was intense, I was really enjoying it until it turned out to be a dream. I think I started to lose interest right around the time little Mike, Mom, and the White Horse kept coming back. It didn't bother me too bad until the end when Loomis gets killed VERY stupidly, and imaginary little Mike holds Laurie down. I guess she was just that darn crazy, too. Or maybe she had some psychic connection with... Meh, whatever, I'm not a hater. In fact I'm fairly easy to amuse, especially with horror flicks. I thought it was going to be better, that's all.

not dudded up with gaudy lighting, hot teens, and all the other shit that makes them about as scary as the very special Halloween episode of 90210. Imagine a Halloween movie shot with nothing but available light, just a lot of fluorescent lights, single lamps, etc. Imagine seeing Michael Myers walking into something bland and everyday, like YOUR kitchen. That's why some of the shots in the original were so creepy. That shot of Myers by the clothes line, through the second floor window is chilling because of its banality and 'plainness'.And that's my biggest problem with all modern horror. 70's horror films worked so well because it felt like a reflection of everyday life. Horror was invading something that looked like the real world that we live in. The Exorcist is another great example. The lighting and the latitude of these film stock is being exploited for no real reason whatsoever. I personally always found flat lighting or lighting that falls quickly into darkness, like it does in real life (say you have one lamp on in a large room) to be much scarier. And the utilitarian nature of a horror film isn't much different than a comedy... one SHOULD make you laugh, the other SHOULD scare the shit out of you. If it tells a great story... even better! One other thing is the damn music... rock and metal music is NEVER, EVER, EVER scary. I don't care what you do, if I hear a guitar lick during a 'scare', I picture C.C. Deville or some other 80's rocker with poofed up hair playing along to the movie. It's just awful and NOT scary. The music in ALL of these original horror films was minimal, often atonal, and very, very, creepy. Ahhhh.... who's listening anyway...
-
How Zombie uses music that doesn't really fit the situation, but works so well at the same time. Like "Nights in White Satin" in H2.

and he corrected his spelling in the title. :p

and he said someone hacked into the AICN super computer.and he thinks he heard them say something anti-semitic

Is because they have the worst titles ever. I think the elm street trailer that was posted was something like One, Two, Freddy's on Youtube. WOW, how creative. Can't you just title it "Nightmare on Elm Street trailer is now online"? Jees
-
Nice try, but that is a legit pic from Halloween. I actually had to look it up, because I did not really know the correct spelling either. It is OK man. Oh, and whoever said Freddy Krooger above made me spit out my beer. Seriously!

Awful, totally irredeemable except for one small thing - it wasn't directed by Rob Zombie. That's the only thing I can think of as a positive. And actually I blame the Bourne movies for the extreme alterations to movie franchises lately, although to be fair for most of those changes it's been a good thing. The Damon 'Bourne' films scared the shit out of the Bond producers, so they out-Bourned Bourne with the reboot of Casino Royale, the best Bond flick ever made. (We won't go into Quantum, though). Sly Stallone was obviously affected in some form by these hardcore reboots and stripped back the fluff from both his Rocky and Rambo franchises to give us two fantastic films, whatever else his motivations were. So so far, we get three fantastic Bourne films, one of the best Bond movies plus a half decent other, two great Sly flicks and an awful lot of movie execs slowly doing the math. So of course the horror franchise reboots have been trying to do something similar - they just screwed the pooch by giving the franchise to someone they thought was 'edgy' like Zombie. I get why they did, Devil's Rejects was pretty hardcore. Just a shame it was a shitpile beyond that. And surprise surprise, the reboot of Michael turned out to be a shitpile too. I've flushed closer adaptions of Halloween after a biryani.
-
...perspective of what budget can get is. First of all, ImdbPro has the Halloween 3D budget listed at $23M, which probably means if there was a fight it was over $2.5M of that $23M. Secondly, $2.5M is actually a pretty sizeable budget in the indie world. A lot movies get made for less than $1.5M, and a lot of DTV gets made for less than $500K. Plus, you get lots of films that are made for less than $5M but then go to press and say it cost $20M. Cost doesn't instantly = quality. I've seen directors do amazing things with $150K and movies that cost $10M not come close to it. It's all on how the money is used.
-
And hopefully its another dog. That was ridiculous.
-
AS LONG as Michael keeps coming back, I'll keep going to the theater. I look at Mike's story as an immortal legend, told by different people in different ways. My hope is another reboot.
-
now it's MYRES?this is just bullshit!i'm tempted to just give up

Ever hear about Cannon, the company that produced the likes of ELECTRIC BOOGALOO, DELTA FORCE, COBRA, LIFEFORCE, CHEERLEADERS BEACH PARTY, MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE, ad infinitum? Greed, practiced by its two dominant operators, prompted the "empire" to crumble. But what a legacy, huh?

But was better than either RZ Halloween movie.
Suck it, fanboys. -
He's such a Polanski fan and all. Schmuck.

So it's pretty stupid to get pissed at Zombie for having him do it again.

he slashed a dog's throat.

The least of my problems with RZ's Halloweens involve a dog.
And anyone that liked either, let alone both, has a low threshold for horror entertainment. How are those Saw movies treatin' ya? -
Loomis: "He got hungry...."

Just got off the phone with myself and I confirmed that it is infact Myers. Case closed. Fuck....Awww....Fuck.....oh no....aww fuck.....HELLLP! Ooop, what was that loud banging??? Fuck it, *spit* Fuck...Awww Fuck....*Spit*...awww*spit* aww, AWWW....

Who cares how to spell his fucking name anyways, he is dead, and this H3 Remake is about masks that kill you when you watch T.V.

Am I the only one who was severely underwhelmed after finally seeing it?
And sorry, as a lifelong NIGHTMARE fan, I have to say the remake trailer looks weak. Oh that's right, this a TB for H3D. Here's my thoughts on it: GOOD FUCKING RIDDANCE! -
Saw 1 is ok. The last couple of minutes are pretty ridiculous. Saw II isn't bad. Still don't understand why he had to cut the numbers off. Saw III is a masterpiece! By far the best of the series. Everything afterwards is complete garbage, embarrassingly bad.I didn't say I LOVE the zombie Halloweens, I just enjoy them despite their flaws. I think the first 15 minutes of his first Halloween outting is completey indefensible for example. Utter shit.
-
Is there ever going to be, an Austin Powers 4? Not that we really need one.
-
Without someone invoking a mental image of their bowel movements. Seriously, can there be one talkback without any mention of feces or diarrhea or sphincters? There are plenty of movies I don't like, but I don't feel the overwhelming urge to compare them to my poop. Stop. It's fucking gross. Which makes it more ironic when these people complain about Zombie's films being crass and vulgar and in bad taste.
-
I'm not defending this type of thing, but it's to be expected at AICN.
-
It was good, solid stool. Lighten up, mon capitan! Zombie's movies are shit that costs moviegoers money, that's why we complain!
-
WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THIS FUCK HALLOWEEN 3D.
-
Not too consistent, and the toilet paper ripped on clean up duty, but I'm not gonna let it keep me down. When it first happened I was like "Fuck...*spit*..aw gross...shit...FUCK...aww...AWWW!"

and noddin' my head in total agreement. You are 100% correct, sir. Good to know there are some real horror fans out there who still get it.
