THE JAY LENO SHOW Beats Bruckheimer's FORGOTTEN!! HELL’S Beats DANCING and DANCE!! Tuesday Ratings!!

I am – Hercules!! “So You Think You Can Dance” and “Shark Tank” returned to Tuesday on a rare late-September weeknight without any real premieres. The 18-49 rankings (last week in parentheses): 4.6 (4.8) NCIS 4.1 (4.4) NCIS Los Angeles 3.6 (3.1) The Biggest Loser 3.1 (3.1) The Good Wife 3.1 (3.2) Hell’s Kitchen 2.6 (3.5) Dancing With The Stars 2.4 (----) So You Think You Can Dance 2.3 (2.5) The Jay Leno Show 2.0 (2.6) The Forgotten 1.5 (----) Shark Tank 1.2 (1.0) 90210 0.8 (0.8) Melrose Place * CBS now owns Tuesday night with “The Good Wife” and its two JAGverse shows putting it at #1 in all timeslots. * “Jay Leno” beat the second episode of “Forgotten,” suggesting the Christian Slater procedural will soon join “Justice,” “Just Legal,” “E-Ring,” “Modern Men,” “Skin,” “Close To Home” and “Soldier of Fortune Inc.” as one of the shorter-lived Jerry Bruckheimer TV productions. (With the cancellation of “Without A Trace” and “Eleventh Hour” and big ratings declines for “CSI,” “CSI: Miami” and “Cold Case,” Bruckheimer is having a tough year.) * “Dancing With The Stars” fell a mammoth 26% from last week while its timeslot competition, “The Biggest Loser,” rose 16%. The ABC dance show is fast losing ground to the Fox dance show, and may lose more if the latter continues to indulge upskirt camerawork: Find James Hibberd’s analysis of the Tuesday ratings here.

It was a elimination show...Of course it would be less than last week's voting show.... >>Not that I watch the show..I just handle the tallying of the phone votes.

Wow, 90210 & Melrose Place's ratings, combined, are still

    by jim

lower than Veronica Mars' average Season 3 rating (that's for you, Hercules).
And the CW thinks putting Melrose repeats on to fill schedule holes is a good idea? What's the over/under on The CW being absorbed by one of the other four major networks by the end of 2010?

  • Sept. 30, 2009, 2:33 p.m. CST

    Public Enemies

    by Geekgasm

I just started working at the railway, and I swear watching NCIS must be a prerequisite to working there. That show is always on the TV's at the bunkhouses.

Losing any scripted show because of Leno is a tragedy.

    by JuanSanchez

The Forgotten isn't great, but it's fucking Shakespeare next to Leno. Fuck you, you big-chinned freak.

    HELL'S KITCHEN > Dancing shows

    TV Is Dying

    by Crow3711

Very slowly, but inevitably. It's sad. The last fews year, IMO, were a huge boom in terms of quality and scope, but now I think it's going to fall apart pretty soon. After Lost is over, there will only be a handful of truly quality television series left. Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Fringe (usually), Dexter....what else?

  • Sept. 30, 2009, 4:52 p.m. CST

After Lost is done, my TV watching will mostly

    by lockesbrokenleg

be done by purchasing DVD box sets.

  • Sept. 30, 2009, 5:21 p.m. CST

    Crow3711

    by erykthedead

Looking at TV that way just means you're getting old. TV won't die, the choices will just fragment more and more as quality is available in more places.

  • Sept. 30, 2009, 5:25 p.m. CST

MaxCalifornia - I like your thinking.

Crow3711 - HOUSE, Venture Bros., The Mentalist...

Without who is it, there's no whodunit....

    by jaysin420

and that's where this show lost me.

  • Sept. 30, 2009, 6:36 p.m. CST

The results show always does worse

    by CherryValance

than the shows with the dancing on them. I like Gordon Ramsey, but DWTS is most important. And something about old Christian Slater pisses me off. I don't know what it is. He didn't bother me before. At this point I'm like 100% ABC in primetime. It's like I don't want to change the channel in case LOST accidently comes back early (even though I hate most of last season).

  • Sept. 30, 2009, 6:37 p.m. CST

Would your rather Leno or Dateline?

    by ThrowMeTheIdol

That's your realistic choice, not Leno or some good scripted tv show. In the 90s, NBC put Dateline on like 4 times a week. Leno is great compared to that tabloid trash.

  • Sept. 30, 2009, 7:05 p.m. CST

I am not sure which is less funny

    by Powerring

    Leno or SNL. Hmm...

  • Sept. 30, 2009, 8:12 p.m. CST

    ahhhh

    by tgmee

I realized why they aren't putting anything interesting on on Tuesdays...the inevitable domination of American Idol.

  • Sept. 30, 2009, 8:37 p.m. CST

    Shark Tank deserves better

    by Pongo

The show is pretty entertaining. Glad to see Hell's Kitchen getting good numbers. That show is hilarious.

    I love SHARK TANK

    by SnapT

Most entertaining show on TV. ABC, please move it to a bettter timeslot. I love SHARK TANK but if not for DVR I'd only be watching it on Hulu.

    Look's like The Forgotten

    by Jamie McBain

Will be forgotten! If things don't pick up for the show, it could go the way of The Beautiful Life: TBL.

  • Sept. 30, 2009, 9:29 p.m. CST

    SHARK TANK

    by SnapT

Why not put it on Saturdays? There's never anything good on Saturdays.

  • Sept. 30, 2009, 9:31 p.m. CST

You could call it SHARK TANK SATURDAY...

    by SnapT

...and make it a two-hour show. The hourlong is so fun it feels like ten minutes.

  • Sept. 30, 2009, 9:44 p.m. CST

    Shark Tank Saturday?

    by Jamie McBain

It could be feesiable. It might even get better ratings, on that day too!

    Comcast + NBC =

    by The McPoyle Clan

get ready for awkward cut-ins with your favorite NBC promos during every commercial break. I guess it's smart to buy them now. If they had ratings, they'd fetch a much higher price.

In happier news, Michelle Dessler is going to appear on Damages.

  • Oct. 1, 2009, 9:22 a.m. CST

I seen episodes of Shark Tank...

    by Jamie McBain

And like it better, when it was aired in Canada, and called Dragon's Den.

    Why new shows might tank

    by BizarroJerry

I think with more and more people watching via Tivo, DVR, the internet, not only do viewers see fewer commercials selling products because they FFWD past them, but they also see fewer commercials for new upcoming TV shows. It becomes very difficult to build up hype for the new shows.

  • Oct. 1, 2009, 9:49 a.m. CST

    Wait...

    by BizarroJerry

You mean, no one saved that Youtube clip and posted it somewhere? C'mon, this can't last very long.

    TV programming is generally crap....

    by thot

There is little I watch on any regular basis. I like Leno's new show. It's not as good as his 'Tonight Show', but it's worth tuning in to. 'The Forgotten' isn't bad, which means it'll tank and get canceled like last season's excellent 'Life on Mars'. In short, TV sucks.

  • Oct. 2, 2009, 10:22 a.m. CST

why has there been no mention...

    by emeraldboy

of the letterman scandal. cbs's late night king pin admitted on air that he had sex with several female scretaries and was blackmailed into saying such. letterman said that had to go to a grand jury and testify. why no mention. if this was the 1990s and this had happened. the media would have gone mad. but here is the guy who runs late night at cbs. and is one thier biggest backers. not a peep.
