HEROES In Ratings Basement!! LIE TO ME Plummets 41%!! TRAUMA Tanks!! Monday Ranks!!
I am – Hercules!!
Only two premieres, of “Trauma” and “Lie To Me,” last night. The 18-49 rankings (last week in parentheses):
5.7 (6.5) House
5.1 (4.6) Big Bang Theory
4.7 (4.4) Two and a Half Men
4.1 (4.3) CSI: Miami
3.6 (4.1) Dancing With The Stars
3.6 (3.5) How I Met Your Mother
3.1 (3.2) Accidentally On Purpose
2.9 (----) Lie To Me
2.3 (2.3) Castle
2.3 (----) Trauma
2.3 (2.7) Heroes
1.8 (1.8) The Jay Leno Show
1.2 (1.2) One Tree Hill
1.2 (1.1) Gossip Girl
* “Big Bang Theory” hit its best number yet.
* “Heroes” looks like it’ll soon be grounded.
* “Lie To Me” lost almost half the audience of “House,” its Fox lead-in. It was down 44% from its January premiere. Fox pays Tim Roth a weekly fortune for this series.
* “Trauma,” with its helicopter crashes and freeway mayhem, opened weak but still pulled better numbers than NBC’s other Monday-night shows, “Heroes” and “Jay Leno.”

The first 2 episodes of this season showed more promise than season 2 and 3, but I guess at this point its "too little, too late".
-
If this show gets cancelled mid-season, how many episodes are already "in the can" for us to see on the eventual DVD set if they go unaired?
-
This season is starting off really well.
-
Studio 60, Journeyman and My Own Worst Enemy were all good-to-decent shows, all killed there. Haven't watched Trauma yet but it could be just another victim.
-
Because everytime I've tried to watch since the strike I can't stay awake.
-
The NBC execs. are in so much trouble. "Sons of Anarchy" tonight at 10/9 central on F/X.-----later-----m
-
And he was bored with cooking once he realized he could create the most complex dishes. The show is just excellent character work. I love everything about it...
-
Heroes, the last of the shows that premiered a season after Lost to get in on the epic, serialized show, has finally come to its probable end. And before LOST completes its final victory lap. Threshold, Journeyman, Daybreak, Jericho, Bionic Woman, and many others. Heroes joins you. Epic Fail.
-
as far as I can tell ... I hope it makes it up, Roth is always good, and its premise isnt the exact same recycled crap on most tv dramas
-
IT HAD ONE FUCKING SOLID SEASON AND SUCKED FUCKING HORSE COCK EVER SINCE THEN AND YOU GUYS STILL TALK ABOUT IT LIKE ITLL BE "GOOD" AGAIN!!! IT SUCKS FUCKING BALLS!!!
-
Brilliant fun in its first season, near unwatchable in the second and third seasons, and finally recovering a bit of its early glory only far too late to be saved. R.I.P., HEROES...
-
Instead of jumping right back into a standard diangosis episode, we get Foreman grabbing the reins at the cost of losing Thirteen's bisexual bedroom anecdotes. I am, however, pissed that computer guy's illness wasn't caused by accelerated dopamine levels.
-
House and Lie To Me seemed like a perfect fit. Obnoxious dudes who are experts in their field solving mysteries.
-
I don't mean annoying. I love those guys.
-
How long will it be before Kring insults the show's viewers again for the show's plummet and not the show's "This Sucks" factor?
-
Hiro is supposed to go back in time to season 1 era and kill Sylar before he can kill Charlie thus changing the whole timeline... Perm. I hope it doesn't get canned before that.
-
Shooting in Ireland for a 2011 two season set.
Damn good thing after the cliffhanger they left us with. -
It's a nice way for us to consider all shows on TV, and I like the way you organize the information.
-
I love the new ratings stories. Please continue them. Even if it doesn't always necessarily represent how many people are watching, its still a lot of fun and very interesting to see how these things play out.
-
It's a swerve. The show has hitched its wagons to Quinto and certainly will not kill him off.
-
Means your ass is getting canceled.
-
Two of the worst med dramas I have ever seen. They make the last few seasons of ER look like The Wire.
-
enough with these ratings articles - lazy lazy lazy. it's as if you think 2 and a half men is actually anything than an unfunny, unoriginal piece of crap
-
Thats OK, I get them mixed up too.
-
Heroes will still beat the rest of the dramas and Trauma will fall off the screen soon enough.
-
If it weren't up against HOUSE. Seriously, networks that shuffle their shows around on the timeslots like this should know better. The 10pm Leno is fucking up NBC something terrible.
-
Could it be that Jay Leno's nightly presence on NBC primetime is so toxic that it's killing all the other series? If so... SERVES YOU RIGHT NBC! Better not take any more chances, shitcan Leno NOW and maybe you can salvage the rest before it's too late.
-
Do we have front row seats to the death of broadcast television? Guess internet streaming/downloading, DVR timeshifting, and DVD sales are taking a serious hit in the Nielsen's. They need to take another look at how they measure viewing.
-
And Dancing With The Stars, now that's gotta hurt!
-
Whether it's Conan or Leno, someone's about to get paid the fuck off. Conventional wisdom says it may be Conan, with Rocky Dennis moving back to The Tonight Show. I hope they don't go that route. There is no guarantee that Leno's audience will return with him. He might have such a stink on him, that it taints whatever comeback he may have. They should pay Jay off, and give Conan a chance. I know his ratings suck, but it's a good show. He's been down before, and succeeded. I think if you let him dig in and really take aim at Letterman, he can eventually beat him. Or, maybe NBC is just irreparably fucked.
-
Was a really bad idea. Someone's going to get canned over this one.
-
I'm loving it.
-
That was the one with the Xindi arc, right? I'm a fan of season-long story arcs, so it was right up my ally and was something to watch between episodes of whatever other shows I was watching at the time. Then they ended the season with time travel and EVIL ALIEN NAZIS. WTF!?The final episode of the series was a giant FUCK YOU to anyone who watched the show (Riker and Troi on a Holodeck FFFFFUUUUUUUUUU)
-
fuck jay leno and his ginormous chin
-
"... Monday-night shows, “Heroes”...2.3 (----) Trauma2.3 (2.7) HeroesHow exactly is the 2.3 Trauma pulled "better" than Heroes' 2.3?
-
It's dragging out all of the characters that has killed the show (aside from the bad "re-set the show every eight episodes" thing). They kill Ali Larter's character...only to bring out her TWIN SISTER?! That's total soap opera bullshit. It's amazing how well Lost handled time travel in it's fifth season, and how ineptly Heroes has handled the same concepts. If they had set a new storyline that BUILT upon the first season, only following an all-new batch of heroes (with the occasional cameo from Hiro and such), the show would have been a lot better.
-
directed by B'Elanna Torres, with a guest appearance by Nurse Ratched.
-
He's like Elvira and Count Floyd, better after midnight.
-
if you read the story to which I linked you'll discover Trauma drew more viewers.
-
what are people watching? is there a new non-scrambled porn channel or something? also, "Lie to me" sucks.
-
They have the rotting corpse of the The Office & the brilliant 30 Rock and nothing else unless you consider the Biggest Loser appointment TV. What a shit storm of a network. A fucking 20 year old could program better shows than the shit on there. Can't believe this was the network of Seinfeld, Cheers, Family Ties, Cosby Show, West Wing, etc.
-
I second punto here. Every ratings post you've thrown up in the last two weeks has gleefully trumpeted the plummeting numbers for almost every single show. What the fuck is going on? How about reporting on THAT. Also, I'm curious what you ended up thinking of Heroes last night. I spent the entire ep thinking it was Fuller-penned, because it sure as shit sounded like one. And does that mean his swan song is next week?
-
...seems like both are in the cellar ratings wise. Poor NBC, I used to like em....

What, nobody else watched? Erika Christensen was on it, and was awesome. And HOT. Anyway, Monday night on Fox is the domain of BAUER. Anyone else is just warming the seat for him.
-
& the comments for the entire week, I've come to the conclusion that in the 18-35 demo, 3.6 of you are morons.
-
"plummeting numbers for almost every single show. What the fuck is going on?"
two things: 1) cable 2) computers.
"Also, I'm curious what you ended up thinking of Heroes last night."
It won't be missed. -
was a secret mastermind behind Heroes writing under a pseudonym, Herc would be all over its cock.

which would make it the perfect time for Joss to show up, make the show great, and put the final nail in the coffin. Seriously though, I wonder if NBC even thought to approach him; It seems like a much better use of his time than Dollhouse (which while good, is also on the way out)
-
It reminds me of much better, much funnier, and much more genuine TV than anything on today. Of the shows listed in this article, only House avoids being god-awful trash.
-
somewhere loeb, beeman and fuller are all having drinks and laughing their fucking asses off the only person i feel sorry for is jack coleman, who may not get another gig that quickly...however, i think he is perfect for a recurring role on mad men...he has the chops
-
they will get semi accurate numbers on internet viewing...or does it not matter, as on the net, they can only show a limited amount of commercials
-
"when do you think they will get semi accurate numbers on internet viewing...or does it not matter, as on the net, they can only show a limited amount of commercials" It is all about commercials which is why DVR, PC viewing, etc will never factor into network thinking. To the suits, a TV show is just a shell to stuff ads in.
-
Hope they keep it running.
-
That was a total hype fest.

I'm actually a little disappointed with the new season of House.
by thedarklinglord
I was actually hoping this season would shake things up, or even just change the scenery and that it would be an entire season - or even half a season - devoted to the atmosphere of the mental health clinic and exploring the inner workings of House, with Andre Braugher getting a substantial role. Instead, it looks like it's just going to be business as usual. Don't get me wrong, even at its worst House is still infinitely more watchable that most of the shit on TV, but it seems like a missed opportunity.
-
then what are the good shows on cable? I'm not complaining about these articles, but who cares about shows nobody watches?
-

Maybe people would watch things...
by flurryofchocolateglazedkrispykremedonuts
...if they knew the show wouldn't be cancelled after 6 episodes. In the case of Heroes, though, the show just sucks.

Sick patient. House insults everyone. Suggests a treatment. Repeat 3 or 4 times with different treatments each time. Patient near death. House breaks into patient's house and finds something. Suggests final treatment that works. End credits.

Hiro should have become Future Hiro...
by flurryofchocolateglazedkrispykremedonuts
...after the first season. But they royally fucked that up as well as every other story arc or character. It'll be a mercy killing when NBC pulls it.
-
Was a MASSIVE improvement. The cooking thing was a great touch and emblematic of the series as a whole...that House is fucked up, but being fucked up is what makes him capable of greatness. I'm looking forward to where they take this, because while I doubt they'll slip him back into the vicodin, I'm betting he'll develop an equally dangerous obsession at some point.
-
I haven't heard this idea mentioned yet. I know a lot of people (including myself) who, ever since the switch to digital TV, have lost access to at least some stations. I have a tiny TV I watch about 5 minutes a day in the morning and am able to pick up only 2 out of 14 stations with any consistency. That's with an antenna, re-scanning, etc. I figure if I'm having this problem, others are too, to varying degrees. If you're not able to pick up the channel anymore, you can't watch the show. Just a thought...
-
I'd put the breaking into the House much earlier in your list of items. In it's place put "someone's comment to House about something else entirely gives him the answer"
-
Yes, I acknowledge its repetitive, but for some reason I don't mind it. And normally on a TV show, I would mind it.
-
Heroes should be put out to pasture.
-
When will someone rescue NBC from this guy?
-
I will be done with tv for good.
-
It got higher overall ratings than both Leno (NBC: "The Jay Leno Show" (5.6 million, 3.7/6) and Heroes (NBC: "Heroes" (5.8 million, 3.6/5). The most watched show of the night was "Dancing with the Stars" (16.8 million, 11.0/16)
-
A Telenovela on Univision scored 6.28 million viewers, making it the 58th most-watched show of the week. That's fucking crazy. That is higher than any show on The CW.
-
I lost all of my channels in the switchover. ALL OF THEM. I know that this was the plan from the beginning; George W. Bush's corporate buddies wanted to get everyone to be forced into getting cable. But I'll be damned if I pay for the shitty shows that are airing these days.
-
I wish I could find the link, but in the last week or so, I read a tech article that blasted the conversion. Seems the lower channels 2-6 are having a hellish time. Something to do with the bandwidth in the lower number range. Anyhow, the gov won't let them use more power to boost the signal, fearing interference, and they won't let them go back to analog. In my market, the NBC affiliate is the highest numbered station and it comes in crystal clear. ABC is low and now, all i get is a blank screen, where before all I had is a little snow. FML
-
The system is flawed. Having worked for a network when I found out how bullshit the ratings system really was it was a real shock to the system. They use statistics to pretty much assume what the larger number is based on a small percentage of Nielsen homes. It's all bullshit. There are no accurate ways of counting the ratings for a show unless each television was made with some sort of electronic counter to count what is watched. But that won't happen. Also certain demographics are underrepresented. I heard about an idea for the future for a built in sensor that would count how many eyeballs watched a screen. Sounded crazy but you never fucking know.
-
...of the ratings. How aggravating is that? Sitcoms were supposed to die in the 70's, why are they still polluting primetime?
-

If you think "The Big Bang Theory" is braindead...
by bob loblaw law blog
then you should try actually watching it. There's a reason why it's been the number-one rated sitcom the past two weeks. It's hilarious.Though, I still don't know how it shares its creator with "Two and a Half Men." It boggles the mind.

But of course we'll soon have TV-to-movies!
by flurryofchocolateglazedkrispykremedonuts
Yeah... thanks to the success of the Three Whores and Their Mother movie (Sex and the City) there's rumors of a Friends motion picture. Sure, it's just a rumor from the out-of-work actor who played the coffee shop guy, but I'm betting it'll happen. Then, if that abomination is a success, TV shows-to-features will replace superhero movies as the next big thing. We'll have a Frasier movie, a How I Met Your Mother movie, a Scrubs movie (probably scored by the Shins if Zach Braff has any say in the matter... and he will). And since these movies will be cheap to make, they'll soon dominate the market, the beancounters at the studios won't be able to resist. It's going to be a fuckin' cinematic fuckpocalyse, I tell you... just in time for 2012. Maybe we'll get lucky, Roland Emmerich will be right, and the world actually will end and put us all out of our misery!
-
If they still care about making one last attempt to salvage it rather than outright cancelling it, then they need to move it away from House. This new season shows promise so far, but House is KILLING it in the ratings.
-
and was confused, but it does raise a good point - both shows had an equal rating, yet Trauma had about a million more viewers.
-
"I'm betting he'll develop an equally dangerous obsession at some point."I wonder if one of those obsessions will be trying to fix Foreman & Thirteen's relationship.
-
TV by the numbers is predicting its cancellation: http://tinyurl.com/yfo87va
-
He quit and accepted another offer because he thought House wasn't coming back, but now House is back, so will Taub be too? Or did they write him out of the show?
-
Season 3 was sorta rebooted twice and now people are talking about another one? I stopped watching last season- I might watch the rest one day on DVD out of curiosity but I'm not missing it much.
-
Just started watching Castle and it's quickly becoming my favorite show. Murder/Mystery writer follows real cops around during investigations. It's a touch of CSI with comedy sprinkled in. Check it out.
-
Fuck that.
-
I usually just visit the movie articles here, so to see the comments on Heroes is surprising; I thought people still loved it but I guess if they do it's a lower # of people. I love Conan, I don't have dvr so it's nice to see him earlier and then watch Craig Ferguson who's actually excited instead of jimmie fellatio who probably sneezes when he sucks lorne michaels' and nbc executive cock just like he laughs before he can tell an unfunny joke. I'm surprised at how leno is fairing, but I truly hope that if he cancelled he doesn't get Tonight back, imo he was the warm up act for Conan back in the day. We've had tough times and haven't had cable/satellite since 11.2006, only recently did we figure out that any rabbit ears with our flatscreens (yeah I know weird combination) will give them reception. So because of that my mom has turned me onto cbs, I love mentalist, big bang theory (nice to see homey from roseanne with another show after so many years) even 2 and 1/2 men which I initially thought was just charlie sheen limping off to another project after taking Michael J Fox's sloppy seconds in Spin City. I even watched csi:miami's premiere yesterday and liked it despite me not liking mr. Kiss of death. Anyway that's my 2 centabos.
-
We got four good seasons we can revisit any time we want, with interesting characters. Hopefully, we who are fans will get comics, novels, etc. Maybe a movie some day!
-
Why not just skip the headline details and write: NET HATE! NET HATE! NET HATE! LATEST RATINGS HERE!
-
It gives ABC a series that isn't a soap that they can rerun so even if not great ratings I'm sure they'll keep it as long as it doesn't totally flatline.
-
but it is now time to lay down and rest eternally.
-
"We got four good seasons we can revisit any time we want, with interesting characters."I think you were watching a different show than the rest of us. We got one mostly great/good season (Season 1), one mediocre season (Season 2), one boring-as-hell season where the show lost most of its audience (Season 3)... and then whatever the hell is going on now with Season 4. And... methinks it's not even going to finish this one.
-
Watching ncis la and chris o'donnell and ll getting out of a black 2009/10 camaro. I may watch it just to see the camaro on a weekly basis.
-
I totally agree that Seasons two, three and four sucked bad but i have REALLY REALLY enjoyed the first three episodes of this series..have you haters (and after the last three series i completely understand) watched these last three episodes. I swear the first two were pretty decent and i thought last nights was excellent. give it one more chance and it doesnt need another reboot this one is just fine.
-
two and three sucked but current season four is great. got confused with chapters and reboots.
-
Pee in the backseat because she was on a stakeout. But their mark came out so she went back in the shotgun seat and had to hold her pee again. New Camaros and inconvenient tinkling=this show has some promise ;)- ALSO sad to read all the heroes hate, I'm not a fan but I liked Robert Knepper from Prison Break I hope if the show goes down he finds another role quick.
-
not audiences. Your average crowded elevator shelters that sitcom's average quota of viewers. Tina Fey is about as sexy as Larry Fine and her dribble is all too predictable. This is all subjective but CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM circumvents the mainstream (i.e. networks) and earns sterling reviews as well as an expanding audience.
-
How awesome would that be?
If he is brought back to life somehow and becomes the real villain this show has always needed.
Ian McShane as an evil carny would be pretty priceless.
-
puts out mostly entertaining shows yet the big "professional" network is incapabke of doing so?NBC here's an idea, cancell evrything. Run a test pattern(ratings couldn't be any worse) until you get your shit locked down and come back strong.
-
I want in on kicking the body... Far as I'm concerned, they should re-shoot the Season One ending into an apocalyptic brawler with a definitive end- only hinting of an altogether different unfolding of events(sub sequential seasons). Finito! Sell it as Re-Mastered and shoot all existing copies of the original seasons 2 to present into the friggin' SUN!
By the way, LIE TO ME, friggin' SUCKED ASS! Lame, lame, lame! And it was a somewhat enjoyable show last year, I hope this opening episode is a hiccup! UGH! -

I've seen a few episodes of house and it was good but...
by supercowbell5thecowbellhasspoken
House seemed way to fuckin much like a one note all knowing douchebag. Maybe his character has been developed more since the ones I saw where from season 1. It was still better than greys anatomy though.
-
are all self inflicted
Hiro evolved into the most retarted character, evar
Even if he somehow became future badass Hiro right now. There would be no unremembering just how stupid the char was.
And a;; the characters are just as bad.
Porly written, stupid plots and characters in a world of endless reset buttons -
these are overnights, and the regular ratings usually represent a different number at the end of the day. Quoting some dipshit's overnight ratings is fucking stupid. If you are going to quote ratings. Quote FINAL RATINGS.
Until you do that Herc. Fucknuts it will be. Oh yeah, get to know Robert Knepper, HIMYM, and stop watching Big Brother. I think your time on this website has runs it's course. -

spuercowbell, I was once like you- young, handsome, skeptical
by yackbacker
I once thought HOUSE was a gimmick where EVERY fucking week some mystery case would come in and Dr. House would be right about what's wrong, while for 45 minutes everyone else would say "Pop another pill, you jerk!" until they realized he was correct. And there's definitely some formula to the proceedings, but HOUSE is great character material- and there's a lot of depth and contradiction to their lead character. They take him down far darker paths than your typical tv show goes. That's why this season's "rebirth" arc is so interesting. Definitely give it a shot, I was a skeptic myself and now I am found.

...just paving the way for 24 to take back over on mondays!
by thethinker
who knows, maybe the Heroes crew can do some cameo work on the show. What kind of characters would Sylar & the gang play on 24?
-
Adam Kaufman of Season 3. You can keep the rest of the HEROES cast though... maybe Claire can come over, but only to fluff Kiefer.
-
...is the fact that, as others have hilariously mentioned, it's too repetitive. It's so formulaic that for any given episode, I could essentially tell you what happened without even watching.
To it's credit though, House is still pretty entertaining--the actors are pretty good, the dialogue is good, the cases are generally interesting, and House himself is a fascinating character. I just wish that the writers would dispense with formula every so often. -
The formula is very repetitive, but there's a certain comfort in that to a degree. Another formula show that comes to mind is BURN NOTICE- all very by the numbers, and intentionally so. That being said, a little deviation from the formula makes for excellent storytelling. Remember when ST: TNG went crazy and turned Picard into a Borg? Similarly, last season's HOUSE finale and this season's premiere was a very good break from their formula. Things are realigning a bit and excellent character work is coming from it. And as I mentioned BURN NOTICE earlier, they too are going into new territory...
-
was always going to be about the 2010 part, when the heavyweight shows come back, supplemented by whatever decent midseason debuts.
-
Trunks came from the future and was a total badass. Wasted the Big Bad from the previous season in one move (after it had taken the main characters an entire fucking season to defeat him the first time, and he still came back!). He went on to try to stop the menace that would later ravage his future and ended up becoming an even more uber badass, returning to his own time (which was still fucked up because he could only return to his timeline for some reason) and doing away with the threats he had been fighting there.
Meanwhile, the trunks in the new timeline grew up to be an unimaginable pussy. Sounds a bit like Hiro to me. -
New trunks didn't though.
-
Couldn't be more spot on. Goku death by the fat android is what turned Trunks into a super bad ass. However, After he went back to his own timeline, Kid Trunks became more powerful then Future Trunks ever was. He went SSJ while he was still a kid. He learned Fusion, heck I'm pretty sure the Fusion portion of him went SSJ3. Too bad same can't be said for Hiro.... Yet.
-
Present Trunk's trainer was Vegeta. Kid Trunks>Future Trunks.

I've watched heroes from the start and i am starting to hate it
by kingoflight
I don't think i've watched a show that i've turned to hate. Normally its either bad and does not keep my attention or it grows on me.
But i can't say i that i've been watching 3 seasons of a shoe and now i want to turn it off.
I HATE MATT PARKMAN NOW... i don't care about him and his taking a dump acting. Infact i want sylar to kill him and as many other of the winney fucks. -
You know that's gonna sink faster than a shark turd to the bottom of the ocean.
-
TV is supposed to be entertaining, not make one feel antagonistic. It's easier to just drop it, like I did after S3. I did take a look at S4E01 as one last gasp, and it was the same old. No problem quitting after that.Addendum to earlier post -- if there's one thing I do kinda look forward to that will air in '09, it's the Prisoner remake, which is now slated to air Nov. 15-17.
-
Seriously, the last time I watched this show, I'm sure Bush was still president.
It got bad, and unwatchable real quick, which was a damn shame because the first season really did show a lot of promise.
It just got fucking silly !
Thanks God we have Fringe !!! -
This show delivers every single episode. Brilliant tv.
The season opener was amazing.
Still hoping that Hugh Laurie's best buddy Stephen Fry gets a cameo on the show some time soon... -
Heroes is finally dead? Finally? Cause after season 3, they should've flushed that smelly turd before it really stunk up the place.

-
You speak as though The Cosby Show, Family Ties or the West Wing were good shows. They were horrible.
-
man, is that series a bit pretentious.I liked it better when it was called Unbreakable.
-
when Matt Parkman's dad was supposed to be this unstoppable badass character more dangerous than Syler and it ends up he's pretty much a big nothing. Such a waste, considering he had, legitimately, the best power of any hero.
-
heroes used to be the show where i counted the days until a new episode. Its not just that its bad, its that its INSULTING TO THE VIEWER kind of bad. Case in point: early in an episode, Nathan is giving like 40 soldiers who he doesn't personally know powers... then at the end of the episode, he's in a limo and decides all the people with powers need to be rounded up at imprisoned... hmmm, so random soldiers with powers aren't a threat, yet the people who HE SAVED THE WORLD WITH need to be hunted down??? in one episode!??!?!?! That's just insulting. Kring is also insulting to comic books and comic fans which heave a wealth of great stories he could have drawn from, yet because of his douchebag ego he rips of The Fly, the 440- and other shirtty storylines. Also, one of the biggest rules of writing is don't make promises early that you won't keepk. Its a simple concept taught at the freshman or at the very latest sophmore level of an english-creative writing major... heroes breaks that rule soooo many times. First, they set up a season finale that would have an epic fight, but the fight was an afterthought. One of the best moments of season one was seeing how badass hiro would become in the future, yet he only gets incredibly stupid... then they make him even MORE stupid by giving him a childs mind, except hiro was so stupid anyways you can easily forget that he had a 10 year olds mind. There's also ZERO action... it wasn't hard for buffy, angel, supernatural, smallville, even chuck to put in action. They also kill off characters which is making a promise that a death would change things and have reprecussions that would progress the storylines, except people don't stay dead. We all know there's more, but fuck kring for making a show so terrible it might be a long time until we see another superhero show get a shot. Oh yeah, in one of the SHITTY comics they put online, peter had a costume and was a superhero... what happened to that???? Heroes has become so ba it is like they are trying to kill it.

...to great.
It took us an age to watch series 3. We watched the first 3 or 4 episodes then just gave up as it was utter garbage. All that making all of the characters virtually the opposite of who they were before... Crap, shit, shite. But the second half had us hooked again and was realy interesting.
Did a lot of you do what we did, watch the first half and get sick of it, but not watch the whole show? We only went back to it because we'd heard that the "reboot2 or return of Kring or whatever had made the show interesting again.
Ray park asside the 4th series seems to be suffering from being mind meltingly sloooowwww. Not poor like S3, but slow, slow, slow. A show that is in danger of being cancelled HAS to kick on much quicker than this. -
and it sucks, but they cancel Sarah Connor right when it had 4 of the best episodes and one of the strongest finishes, story arc wise, of any TV show that year?

Is like being a fan of a terrible football team. Every once in a while, they put together a nice drive, they march down the field and get to the goal line and you think "Hey they may score here!" but then they throw an interception in the endzone that the other team runs back for a TD. Nathan as Sylar is unforgiveable.... you have a fucking healer who's blood can and has brought people back from death before, but instead you do a retarded plot twist. Considering how little we've seen of Nathan, it's pointless... the Parkman/Sylar stuff could have been exactly the same without having the retardation that was Sylar as Nathan. I don't understand why they go to these extremes to keep Nathan and Nikki/Tracy around, yet completely ruin Suresh, who was basically the heart of the show in it's best season. I haven't hated the first couple episodes this year, but that INT is coming.

AWESOME analogy. We must be two of the very few sports fans on this site... but based on how alot of these people post, I'd be happy to keep them here as I would not be able to stand their mentality on sports blogs.Your analogy was perfect, but for fun I'll do another--heroes is like an overpaid struggling pitcher who turns out to be a bust--in his last four starts he has an era of 8 but then has an outing where he allows one run over 8 complete, and you think, ok--if he can get on a roll and pitch this way, it might be enough to get us to the postseason. But he doesn't rebound and the team finds themselves 10 back going into september... the team is out of it, so i stop watching every game and the few i decide to watch either a) remind me why this team fell out of the race by playing terribly, or b) the team plays a great game and I think 'where was this two months ago???' Either way, the team is out of it and i find it hard to care about the game, but since I'm a baseball fan (=comics fan) I watch occassional games (episodes of a superhero show) but the team still sucks--i've just come to expect that at that point.

for my beloved Oregon Ducks (my alma mater), and I dig the sports analogy too.But... there's gotta be more than a few sports fans here, right? I know Harry absolutely loves his Texas Longhorns.

If I were them I would use Hulu to actually see how many people tune into shows. That Neilson's bull shit is killing shows that millions of people watch. Time to change the game of ratings.
-
The main screen is all SNL, Family Guy bullshit. Is THAT what we're really watching?
-
Figures that it's now on the verge of cancellation.
-
Because if they are the are completely irrelevant using that outdated system of Neilsen households.
-
if there are commercials or some sort of advertising. Either way, it's irrelevant to broadcast television and, more importantly, to those that advertise on it. If some company is paying hundreds of thousands of dollars to advertise during Heroes, all they care about is how many people are watching it at that time. If 9 out of 10 people watch it on Hulu instead it doesn't help the advertiser at all. And if they aren't getting eyeballs on their ads, they aren't going to pay (or pay the big bucks networks love so much) to advertise. As a result, the networks will look elsewhere for something to attract viewers and advertising dollars.

I saw big bang theory once for about 15 minutes. One of the "guy" characters really liked this girl but she was way too busy to go on a date because she was a doctor with a kid. So to get her to go out with him he setup a two minute date in front of her office. He had a dinner setup, a movie, and some other stuff setup. But of course because it was a two minute date they could only do those activities for about 30 seconds each. Oh boy ,it was cute, quirky, fun, and of course hilarious and off the wall. Imagine a 2 minute date? I haven't seen it since.

You do realize that this year because of the Leno show. Heroes will only be shown until New Years after that when shows come back for the second half it'll be replaced by Chuck and some other new show. This pretty much put's the nail in the coffin for Heroes anyway because once it's shown it wont be shown again, unless you have iTunes or Hulu. Trauma I assume was already planned for one season (or technically half) so if either of these shows fail this fall they will already be replaced for next year.
-
"How I Met Your Mother". Probably a good thing you didn't make a point to watch it again. You'd spend every episode tuned into "The Big Bang Theory" waiting to find out what happened to the guy and girl who'd been on the 2 minute date.p.s. The girl was Sarah Chalke, once on Roseanne, now on Scrubs for the past 7 years, in case you were curious.
-
We don't watch TV together on Mondays...
-
Yea it was how I met your mother. Both shows have fun little names.
-
Very late replying to this post, but going to anyway...
I thought the FU was more the way they killed Trip. Having Riker and Troi watching it, not so much. Sure, it seemed wrong to have the end not feature the characters from the show, but at the same time, I think they were going for an "even hundreds of years later, this crew will be remembered" type of thing. Just handled it poorly. -
They don't even show it in the UK anymore. The BBC dropped it after struggling to sound enthusiastic about it every week last year.
With regard to ratings, I haven't watched a single show on TV for five years. I don't even own a TV. Anything I watch is either streamed or downloaded, and I doubt I'm the only one. I tried watching the new episodes of Heroes on youtube but they're all backwards with the last ten minutes missing. If they're like that on the TV no wonder nobody bothers. -
But if most others are like me, they're too busy to sit down and watch much TV at all. My DVR is packed, and I still don't have time. So it's really got to be worth watching before I can devote the time.
-
I agree with skydemon-I either DVR or Hulu and watch them when I can...everyone fucking works 10 hours a day and has to take care of family-ratings are bullshit...reason they have them is to charge for comercials so they can sell us more shit we don't need. Fuck NBC-nothing shocks me about this stupid Cock network...Jay leno will burn in a firey flame of failure and go back to 11:30
-
and I hope it has another 12 seasons!! It's awesome, and I can't believe people complain about it so much. This season rocks.
-
but it's SO BORING this season. If Hiro and Ando aren't on screen I can barely keep my eyes open. Why does each scene stretch on so long?! HEROES could literally be a 15-minute show. It SHOULD be a 15-minute show. That's about how long it takes to read a comic book.
-
So Heroes is like watching Brad Lidge this seson?
-
Haven't seen season 3. Still waiting for my dvd set I won from Herc.
