See The First 17ish Minutes Of David S. Goyer & Brannon Braga's FLASHFORWARD!!
Merrick here...
On Thursday September 24, ABC will premiere FLASHFORWARD from David S. Goyer & Brannon Braga by way of a novel by Robert Sawyer. The series' premise? What happens when the entire human race blacks out for two minutes - and glimpses their future lives when it happens?
ABC has posted the first 17+ minutes of the show's opening episode - which offers a compelling taste of what the show will be like. You can view this material via the embed below...
...or find a bigger/prettier version HERE.
Goyer directed the pilot, which features a score by Ramin Djawadi (PRISON BREAK, IRON MAN). Sawyer's progenitor novel is available HERE
- but use caution when looking it up, as many spoilerish descriptions re: what causes the catalyst event to happen are bouncing around The Net.

Looks pretty good, something to watch for this fall.
-
Love it. The preview looks interesting.
-
I am impressed ... i was expecting to see 'not in your location' ... but on abc's website it is actually working .. without crappy commercial before it ... will give it a try
-
Not.
-
To everyone's favorite Heather Graham movie to this. Wow other Finnes brother, your career has kind of sucked.
-
Another law enforcement dude? Eh, I can't hate CBV! The fist 15 minutes were cool. I'll give this a shot.
-
Is if they can really draw out the entire season on basically a 2 minute glimpse of the future. It's like 24 and Lost got together and did the nasty.
-
It's a 3-way now (let's use the flashy-flash edit option to drop enough clues that will last us 5 seasons!). If this show doesn't rub its pinky-toe on our metaphorical cocks for 5 seasons and actually delivers some real plot development (ahem LOST!) then I'll be into it. But if this shit is just one tease after another... I'll gladly ignore it.
-
Was interested in the premise before seeing this, not I'm hooked. I'll give it a chance.
LOL @ Oceanic billboard
WTH? about Kangaroo in the city...from the zoo or something important?
Is this what really happened when they stopped entering the numbers? Will Ben Linus make a cameo? -
I'll watch the pilot.
-
...in a long time. It was as compelling as the first 20 minutes of LOST. I, for one, cannot wait to see this now.
-
my job blocked the video so i googled it and found the entire thing streaming... very cool, its out there if you want to see it.
-
when CERN is finally switched on. Looks pretty good, on par with the Lost pilot episode.
-
One of the best pilots I've seen. Hopefully they can maintain the momentum throughout the season, but I definitely recommend. Also look for a Lost Easter egg...
-
What is it about our actors that give you Yanks such a chubby?
-
It's ripoff of Lost, but a decent one at least. It has Sonya Walger(Penny), opens very similar to the Lost pilot (with a giant car crash instead of plane crash, how original) and it's titled Flashforward. How obvious can you get. John Cho's character probably is gonna die in 6 months or so unless Shakespeare in Love can do something about it. Some bad guys who might have triggered this whole event don't want him to find out what's going on. Not everyone on the planet was affected by "the incident" as evidenced by surveillance footage showing some guy in black walking around a stadium full of people flashforwarding.
-
Main character wakes up and walks around wreckage. Gee, I saw that before.
-
..."Rafe" instead of "Ralf", does Joseph Fiennes pronounce his first name "Jofe"?
-
The way that scene is done, with people screaming and general chaos and mayhem, Lost popped right into my head as I was watching. The other things I mentioned
(and probably some other details I can't remember right now)just made the feeling of deja vu stronger. Obviously not all of it was borrowed from Lost, but a ripoff doesn't have to be exactly the same to be called a ripoff.
-
damn I keep hitting the wrong keys, sorry about the premature submissions-- Anyway, I was wondering if the opening scene cliche was going to be an ongoing thing ... every episode starts with a brief snippet /hook from somewhere later in the episode ... kinda like every episode of alias.

-
I expect this shit from Herc but not you as well.
Please put up a disclaimer when content is US *only*. It hurts my feelings to be constantly left out and I feel AICN ignores the plight of non-US countries in these situations. -
a guy waking up to a nice serene scene, 5 seconds later the screams start, he shakes himself off and starts running around trying to help people...and they couldn't have picked a more boring flash-forward for the first episde. "My God, in the future I will be...drinking from a flask in an office and shuffling papers around...and having guns pointed at me by criminals, which incidentally, is pretty much my normal job..." overall though it looks good, I want to see more.
-
First off Matt Fox is not British, and was not in one of the most acclaimed movies of all time. Nor does it take place on an Island. Stupid lost fans. I bet that show ends like Sphere.
-
If they DIDN'T remember blacking out. They just woke up like that. Then, slowly, they piece together what happened.
-
This series seems to take place in the same universe as Lost... since a certain infamous airline exists in both shows.
-
It's...not bad. Definitely slow pacing in the second half - the opening is the best part of the preview. Joseph Fiennes as the lead may be fatal - charisma free. Lots of dangling threads to follow-up on, but I get a sense the show is in now hurry to chase after any of it. If anything, there's a weird "leisurely" vibe about the show. We'll see where it goes...
-
Otherwise it would be a spin off show. I'm sure it was just an in joke since ABC produced it.
-
I thought it was good, but it will take a few episodes to really sell me on weather this show has long term potential.
-
Therefore I'm going with same universe. Mark my words Ben Linus will be behind everything.
-
Maybe Lost is a little Flashforwardish instead?
-
It was in that plane movie with Kurt Russell, too.
-
Aint it old news.
-
Or that song by that rocker that was playing in that room with Jennifer Garner?
-
Cmon, does anybody expect this to last more than one season? That's why I don't watch these shows anymore, I feel like Charlie Brown waiting to get the football pulled out by Lucy. I'll wait to see if it lasts a while and if it does I'll check it out on DVD.
-
the beautiful tropical setting and the beautiful people in torn clothes. In other words, it's Lost without the aspects that kept Lost alive in the ratings.I love me some Sonya Walger and I like Joseph Fiennes a helluva a lot more than his pretty-boy brother so I'll tune in, but I don't expect it to survive.

Let me know when S2 is announce and then I'll watch!
by hollywoodhellraiser
Not about to be suckered and then its cancelled!
-
from a mysterious boredom.
-
I submit that it has potential, but it'll take a few episodes for me to decide if I actually give a shit about these characters.
-
How can they get a glimpse of their future if they black out?
-
well, it's pretty entertaining, but nothing special. And they just see 6 months into the future, unlike the book
-
...I was expecting a polar bear, though. Why are all the buildings in the city on fire? Was every low-flying aircraft in L.A. in the air at the time and each one just happened to hit a building?
-
Or Amnesia?
-
Why do you bother?
-
is what happens on may 1st.
i think the fellow at the stadium at the end is jack..... -
Executive Decision? Was it the exact same circle logo? Cuz the one in FlashForward is the exact same as the Lost version.
-
No way this gets a second season. Reminds me of the Nine. To many uninteresting characters.
-
But a weekly television show...Why invest the time when you know it's going to be canceled after five or six shows? Remember, it's ABC.
-
This can't be set in the "Lost" universe - The same actress, Sonya Walger, plays the FBI guy's wife as plays Penny Widmore on "Lost".
Nobody's gonna go for a "The Island Wiped Her Mind and Now She Has A 10-Year-Old Daughter and a Marriage To An FBI Agent and a Career As A Doctor" storyline... -
Here are my thoughts. http://mosaiccollective.blogspot.com/
-
Isn't she the one who in the previews said her version saw her in bed with another man? Maybe it's Desmond...haha
-
No one's going to get to watch it, there's already too much on. Plus, knowing that it's going to get canceled makes me doubly not want to watch it just to get into it and be pissed off when the inevitable happens. High concept never seems to work long either. Too bad, I'll bet it could have been good.

Not sure "who else knows"? Write the question on a piece of pape
by el mamerro
That always helps.
-
oh ouch Braga is working on your show...
-
But Millennium did a crossover with X-Files, and John Locke played 2 different characters across both shows. So, how does THAT work????
-
As a scientist.
-
"This can't be set in the "Lost" universe - The same actress, Sonya Walger, plays the FBI guy's wife as plays Penny Widmore on "Lost"."
Please explain Torchwood and Doctor Who, where the same actors play different parts all the time? -
that they requested questions from TBer's a few weeks ago. What? We do that broads job for her and then nothing.
-
of usable questions.
-
How about you suck my cock ABC?
-
okay, it wasn't that bad, but PRETTY BAD. that said...I thought this was thoroughly captivating and I look forward to seeing more. hopefully it'll keep my interest more than Fringe...
-
It's actually just a fictional airlines which many shows and TV/movies can use. I'm guessing so it's not to associate with any actual (real) Airlines in telling a horrific story with real Airline companies. Think of the damages, law suits, etc. that real airlines will say if it involved real airline companies in a story.
-
ABC is simply wanting the core/casual audience from Lost to watch Flash Forward with one of the actress from Lost to star in it. Because a lot of people will recognise her and watch it, from knowledge that she starred in Lost.
AshOk, true Terry O'Quinn starred in Millennium and The X-Files, but in different roles, numerous roles in fact Darius Michaud, Lt. Brian Tillman in The X-Files and most appearance in Millennium as Peter Watts. A lot of actors do this, note CCH Pounder also (guest) starred in both The X-Files and Millennium but as different characters. It saves them hiring a lot of unknowns and a lot of recurring actors do star in a variety of shows. They can do the job and ppl know them then why not use the actors that everyone knows.
It's sort of a celebrity product (that I mean film or TV series) placement which TV is best known in business terms. Think Anthony Stewart Head before Buffy, Nescafe commercials one of the most remembered and loved in the UK, then look at Buffy, Merlin, etc.
-
fuckin hack - obviously they wouldn't let him anywhere near Lost so he decided to try and clone it...
only it no doubt went horribly wrong (this IS Braga we're talking about) and now he's got some sorry ass Frankenstein Monster he's trying to peddle - you know, kinda beautiful at first but eventually HIDEOUSLY DEFORMED and unable to make any sense...
nice try Braga but FUCK YOU!! -
It was a good idea but only on paper. Good because we are the people that keep shows such as Lost and Supernatural on the air, and Flashforward is geared towards our demographic. What Goyer and the people who suggested this inteview idea to him didn't know is that a lot of people here hate Goyer for fucking up Blade 3 and delivering a rather pedestrian script for BB. Well, now they know.
-
They are using something called positive association. That's why this show has a lot of more or less obvious similarities with Lost. They are using our positive feelings towards that show against us, to make us watch this one.
-
to put a goddamn show on ? Why is every freaking show on Thursday night ? I've got nothing to watch 6 nights a week, and then Survivor, Office, Community, Fringe and now FlashForward all on the same fucking night. Fuck you, network execs, you fucking fucksticks.
-
thanks for that update on the interview. Why does that not surprise me? You mean he doesn't want to answer questions about fucking up Blade and contributing to shit like Jumper? Or questions about shit he did 15 years ago(Dark City)? It's a shame what the hate does. Instead of getting to ask a legit genre contributer an actual question we shout him down for past flaws. sad.
-
fuck those lazy fucks for not weeding out some quality questions and giving us a decent interview. What? Should we write the whole fucking interview for you? FTW!!!!!!
-
I went on Wiki to read the plot synopsis of the book. When you find out what REALLY caused the flash-forward...
HUGE YAWN!!
Very, VERY "meh" denouement. They'd better come up with something better for why it happens than that unscientific, frankly bullshit explanation.
Do NOT get your hopes up, guys... -
In fairness, Goyer DID manage to derail the entire BLADE franchise with one ill-advised shitfest that was more of a slow-motion Calvin Klein ad for Ryan Reynold's abs than a BLADE movie - and that after two fantastic previous BLADE movies, both tonally very different. A lot of bitterness exists for what MIGHT have been - and you know what? Goyer deserves it. His ego got the better of him, and we got a shit fucking threequel for it. He deserved the TB battering.
Oh, and act 3 of BATMAN BEGINS was fucking weak as well. If you want to talk to the fans (re: ingratiate yourself with them) you have to deal with the shitstorm first, and don't call off an interview because you might be insulted. What a fucking crybaby.
Goyer - MAN THE FUCK UP!! -
You're right re new WHO - but how embarrassing is it to hear RTD's scripts shoehorn in such beauties as "Oh, I had a cousin who worked at Torchwood, she was called Adeola" (Martha explaining why she looks JUST LIKE her cousing Adeola), or "Did your family always come from Cardiff?" (The Doctor to Gwen from Torchwood, giving a VERY tenuous link between Gwen Torchwood and Gwyneth from THE UNQUIET DEAD).
Nothing wrong with having people play multiple roles, but they need to avoid writing clangers like THAT... -
I'd like to watch this show, but Thursday night is just the wrong night for it. Hope it doesn't get canceled. http://nickleshi.blogspot.com
