I am – Hercules!!

Scripted by novelist Jonathan Ames (“Wake Up, Sir”), HBO’s “Bored To Death” stars Jason Schwartzman (“Rushmore,” “Shopgirl,” “Marie Antoinette,” “The Darjeeling Limited,” “Funny People”) as a pot dealer/novelist who, reeling from a break-up, impulsively advertises himself as a private detective on craigslist.

Co-stars include Zack Galifianakis, Ted Danson and my luscious 94-pound girlfriend, "Juno" star Olivia Thirlby:

You can watch the whole “Bored To Death” pilot right now for free here.

a question for anyone who's watched it

    by ravenwing263

These previews from premium channel websites are often edited - taking out, for instance the "F"-bombs and the like. Is that the case here? I'd love to watch it early but would rather wait the week then see a neutered version.

God bless my government for deciding for me that I really shouldn't be watching a video from the US. It's not available here so I'll go without. It's for the best, or so I've been told by my betters.

    Solution for Non-Americans

I'm in Canada and I'm watching it right now. All you have to do is download a program to disguise your IP address (I use Hotspot Shield). It's not complicated.

I'm glad you are on board with the program. For a second I thought I was going to have to report you to Central Planning. But if you DO want to watch the video you may go to the Ministry of Online Video Filtering and request a waiver - form 4359a and fill it out in triplicate - there is also a $25 paperwork fee that will be due. The final approval will be of course subject to the approval of the Ministry of Propaganda - the fee is naturally non-refundable. Hope this helps!

    Hotspot Shield

    by salardo

I usually also use Hotspot Shield, but it tends to slow my connection the fuck down to a point where it would take me hours to load this. Just make the shit accesible worldwide. Who knows? It might help with the distribution...

Not very good, but somewhat intriguing

    by jbs9200

I found ti to be slow and ... well, boring. It is a Wes Anderson rip-off without the special Wes Anderson magic.
Also, Ted Danson is usually the final blow to anything he is in. His ability to play people without any charisma is amazing
All that said, I actually did want to see what his next detective job was about.

Herc, Enormity does not mean what you think it means

I am posting this here as you have stopped comments in your weekly release post. "Enormity" means enormously bad, not simply very large. This is today's vocabulary lesson.

sorry bud. although you're right about the original meaning of enormity, over the last century, its definition was expanded to indeed mean large in scale or scope, or influence...as well as "heinous" and all that.

If you can't watch in Canada

    by lock67ca

Blame the CRTC and, by extension, the Government. It's the same bullshit reasoning that has them blocking US TV stations whenever the Canadian broadcasters simulcast US shows. I guess they think US advertising will rot our fragile little Canadian minds, and make us forget we're Canadian. It's bad enough that they can get away with this shit with TV signals, but now they've adopted the same policy for the internet as well. As I said, this is fucking bullshit. End of rant.

(as raised above) and more a Woody Allen short. I thought it was decent, and I'd tune in again if I had HBO. But it is not apt to get me to subscribe: The Pacific, and Game of Thrones might (if picked up for series).

    by antonphd

Yeah, it isn't 100% yet, but many shows don't reach that until there has been enough shows to really build up a history of the characters for the audience. I hope this show lasts long enough to reach that point. I love it.
