Sharlto Copely May Get Howling Mad...

A few weeks ago we received an e-mail indicating that Sharlto Copely (the lead in DISTRICT 9) was a lead contender to play H.M. "Howling Mad" Murdock in THE A-TEAM movie. Made sense enough, although many candidates were being considered for the part so it was difficult to know just how how favored he was. BlackFilm now reports that Sharlto has, indeed, been offered the role (which was originated by the under appreciated Dwight Schultz in the 80s television series).

Through a reliable source, Blackfilm.com has learned exclusively that an offer has been made to rising star 'District 9' Star Sharlto Copley for the role. There is no confirmation that Copley has accepted as of yet. Many names were being tossed for the role including the likes of Jim Carrey, Steve Buscemi, Timothy Olyphant, Woody Harrelson, Sam Rockwell, Chris Pine and Robert Downey Jr..

...says BlackFilm HERE. From Sharlto's comments at AICN's DISTRICT 9 screenings, sounds like he's being somewhat picky about what roles he's considering/accepting at the moment. It'll be interesting to see if working alongside the Scott brothers, Joe Carnahan, and Liam Neeson will be enough to tweak his interest. More as we know more.
