Why only one screening of the "big ones" (Zombieland, Trick R' Treat, Antichrist, etc.)... These will just be filled with VIP badges whereas with past years, regular badge holders could just wait for the 2nd showing and get in no problem... Kinda sucks.

"Master Pancake presents Total Recall"
by i_am_not_the_droid_you_are_looking_for
Since when has Total Recall become "one of sci-fi's most dated hits"?
-
first off - some of those Big Ones will be at the Paramount Theater which has ALOT of room. Secondly, sometimes those are the conditions for screenings. And for the record - the "Big Ones" have always been a bitch to get into. This year will be slightly better than usual, but that's what happens at a big festival sometimes with the big tickets. You can make the festival be about those Big Ticket items - and be resentful about your experience - or you can see the films that are the biggest jewels of the fest - and that's those titles you don't know as well, that FANTASTIC FEST will be your only chance, perhaps ever to see the films theatrically - and they're usually GREAT films. Or you can freak out about not seeing films that are releasing usually pretty quickly after the Festival by a couple of weeks or a month or two at most.
-
Thought it was pretty cool myself. Did the suits sends ya a cease and desist letter?
-
I take it you don't live in Austin or, if you do, don't follow Master Pancake... MP, instead of taking REALLY crappy films, takes popular films and justifies in some (usually half assed) way why they should be made fun of. Examples: Lord of the Rings, The Breakfast Club and now Total Recall. They are sometimes mildly amusing... Also, Total Recall will always rule.

Harold! Where is the new TWITCH?
by i_am_not_the_droid_you_are_looking_for
Our home is becoming increasingly difficult to load!
-
Fair enough, I understand now. "See you at the party, Richter!"
-
I totally know what you mean, I do. I've not for the past 4 years missed a single movie I've wanted to see, but that's because there's always been multiple screenings. I never go for the Secret Screenings for the very reasons you mention - I will see them in theaters soon. My big concerns are things like Trick R' Treat... we know that won't get a theatrical run and this is my only chance to see it in a theater with a big crowd. And for all we know, could be the same with Paranormal Activity. I still say it kinda sucks, but I'm not resentful towards it! I live for Fantastic Fest! I do stumble upon those gems like you say and I love the fest for it. Hell, I was at the first screening of Timecrimes before anyone knew WTF it was and it was something I'll never forget - falling in love with it AND Nacho. One of my favorite FF nights was when I saw End of the Line... It took 2 years to get to see it again... On DVD. So, don't read me wrong here, I'm not complaining about FF. I just feel a little discouraged by my chances of seeing some big crowd movies and didn't know if there was a reason for the single screenings this year.

is superpretentious bullshit. Exactly the type of stuff the Cannes-faggots would get a stiffy from. Avoid this shit, I paid 9 bucks and I'll never get them back.
-
Didn't yall show this last year?
-
Similar to the 48-hour film contest. Give the film makers a title, how long the film has to be, and how many sex scenes it has to have. Everything else is up to the film makers.
-
Has a lot of alternative names.
-
I was going to possible go to this, but I'm busy that weekend damnit. Isn't that how it always is.
-
And their one two vampire combo this winter...both look like a load of suck.
-
There has to be an interview with him and Harry. HAS TO!
-
I was also wondering why the gif changed so fast.
-
Both the Weitz bro's vampire flicks look like they suck? Well played, sir. We played.
-
That said my short film would not be showing....dam! and I had everything crossed......Still it was cool to get the email.
TK -
Since we all know it'll never get a decent fucking showing at UK cinemas, can we just hurry up and get this hidden gem of a movie out on DVD, PLEASE??
-
The first movie is set in Barcelona.
-
Oh man, there.
-
Every year this thing just keeps getting better and better. I can't wait to be back in Austin watching a shit load of great movies again. Just 2 more weeks!
-
At the LaBelle theater, Oconomowoc Wisconsin in 1971 on a double bill with Nana. Life was good, Nixon sucked and we had beer in the theater.
-
Could be the best festival ever... Fantastic Fest always outdone itself every year, and this year no exceptions!!!!
