Learn Who Summer Glau Plays On Joss Whedon’s DOLLHOUSE!!

Published at:  Aug 27, 2009 9:04:50 PM CDT

I am – Hercules!!

As promised, “Firefly”/“Sarah Connor Chronicles” girl Summer Glau will not play another hot, skinny active in Joss Whedon’s “Dollhouse.”

Instead she’ll play Bennett, “a Dollhouse employee who shares a past with Eliza Dushku’s Echo,” according to Entertainment Weekly.

I’d guess we’re all hoping that “past” Bennett shares with Echo is an very intimate one.

Also guesting on “Dollhouse” this season are Amy Acker’s romantic interest from “Angel,” Alexis Denisof, and Tahmoh Penikett’s “Galactica” co-stars Jamie Bamber and Michael Hogan.

Season two of “Dollhouse” begins Sept. 25 on Fox.

Find all of EW’s story on the matter here.

Download “Epitaph One,” “Dollhouse’s” best, unaired episode for $1.99 here.

    by photoman

Herc, it's not to quit. It's time to just go start your own website that's dedicated to your love affair with all things Joss Whedon. This website isn't really cut out anymore for your very one-sided coverage of this one man. I mean we had to complain to Harry for you to give us a True Blood talk-back and you did it half-assed. You either need to quit here or Harry needs to fire your ass. All the Coaxial section has become has been "Whedon-World", mainly featuring shows that have ex Buffy cast members in them. That's fine, quit AICN and go make your own website. Hell, call it WhedonWorld! There are really well done, cheap, professional looking blogging sites out there like Squarespace that cost only like 14 bucks a month for a fair amount of traffic. It should handle the traffic of the people that are so into Whedon like you are...which is what, like 20 or so? You can post anything you want there as it will be YOUR site dedicated to what you love most! So please think of just quitting AICN and turning Coaxial over to someone that actually likes other TV shows and has a little more diverse tastes.

was shot as a possible Series Finale, and was set in 2019, with flashbacks occuring at unspecified points between then and now.Now that they have another season to play with, they have said that that episode is a glimpse at a possible future that they don't want to be tied down to in crafting future stories. Otherwise some Whedonhating AICN Talkbackers would say "Why should we watch Dullhouse? We already know what that's leading towards! Bring back Terminator:SCC! ...nor was I demeaning a singular woman, that would be...Summer Glau. I respect her, and I like her very much...but, when a couple love each other, well, if you are coupled with someone, if either of you is out on the on the street, meaning, when one or the other, is out in public, they should each act accordingly, like a lady, and a gentleman, but behind closed doors, again, if they love each other...and the passion is there, they should both be each other's whores. That has nothing to do with disrespect, it has to do with being passionate and loving, and keeping the fires of own's relationship burning brightly. If you are not that for your partner, your lover will go elsewhere, and get it, that kind of hot passion, from someone else--hence, the term, "A Woman Has To Be A Lady In The Street, And A Whore (A Freak) In The Bedroom."

TTSCC had a great cast and a good premise but the writing was a little off. I enjoyed the more action-oriented finale a lot because they allowed Summer's Terminator to actually terminate things. TTSCC was a little slow and talky but it was never creepy & embarassing like every episode of Dollhouse was, IMO.

    Creepy & Embarassing

    by buffywrestling

(No, MM, not you; I'll get to you laters)

@ Margot: See that is one of the reasons why I like D'House. It IS creepy. These aren't "heroes". Even the characters who are supposed to be heroes, aren't heroes. You have a bunch of people who tried to run away from their problems and bunch of others taking advantage of that. The evil road to Dollhouse is paved with good intentions. It's not only trying to put you in the Doll's perpective but it's trying to put you into the perspective of someone who would hire a Doll. Hence, the embarassing & creepy. However, I would rather watch the perpective of many, than a narrow view of the slavery, prositution and brainwashing. If you narrow the focus, you are going to get something shallow and truly horrifing (see: first 5 standalones)

Trying to get me to sympathize, in episode after episode, with that chattering psycho who does the mind wipes, the madame of the house and the watcher guy who hates his job but still comes to work every day is what's creepy and embarrassing. It goes without saying that the people who HIRE the dolls are awful human beings.

That alwaysconfused me as well, I'd have thought he'd out together an actual careerafter Angel. I never really even liked Angel (a big reason being the mediocre actors), but he was great. Maybe he's just not interested in acting though.

    The creepy aspects

    by thegoldbergv

is exactly what I like about this show. By showing them all in morally corrupt situations to begin with, it then DARES you to sympathise with them. Did anyone not feel for Topher during his breakdown scene in Epitaph One? Or for DeWitt in Spy In The House of Love? They may not be heroic characters, but they are all conflicted and (to varying degrees) interestng. Other shows like The Wire and Dexter show morally suspect stuff, doesn't effect their popularity.

Hopefully in season 2 we'll see more of the ensemble. I've got no problem with Dushku, but the other members of the cast really outshine her sometimes. Especially Victor, I mean how good an actor is he? Still not sold on Tahmoh, maybe its just because I wasn't a big fan of Helo in BSG either, but sometimes he oversells the earnest. So more Victor, Sierra, Boyd and Adelle please Joss.

    Oisin5199: "Dollhouse" Season 2

    by media messiah

You are still obsessed with me, because I dared write about how the show could be rebooted? Well, both Joss Whedon and the Fox execs said that the shw was broken and in need of a fix...so I didn't just make that fact up--those closest to the show said it, and openly. So how am I the bad guy here? I forwarded my views for point of discussion, and thusly, I devised a workable idea for a second season story arc for the show...and posted it here on AICN. You can't honestly say it was a horrible, or even empty, idea. It was a nice idea, as good as anything that might come from any top notch production company. It might not be for Joss, but it was/is...very linear, and very audience, and story friendly, and that was my point in writing it. I have asked you, and others who have assailed me, for daring to write a story outline, as I did, to best me with your own ideas and stories, and to a person, you have all been unable to do it? You are easy to criticize, but slow to show that you can best what I wrote, or even to challenge it, with your own ideas...and that says all that needs to be said???

Sir, its been said before, no one is obsessed with you, you're just a bit of a character (which I mean in a good way.) Some find your nuttiness endearing, some find it hilarious, some find it worrying.

No one thinks you're a bad guy.

How'd your quest go to get us fired from Mutant Enemy by the way? :)

V'Shael: I Was Not On Any Quest To Get You Fired

    by media messiah

That was a silly little game of Psi-Ops. I was simply getting a read on you guys, psychologically, speaking. I certainly noticed that some of the accusatory tone disappeared after that--which, informed me, at least, that I may have been right about a small number of those who were giving me a bad time? And I would be very interested if the vast majority of their IP addresses originated in Los Angeles, and or, California, something that the moderator of this Talkback would know, and certainly would not disclose, to maintain the privacy of those posting--still, it certainly would be enlightening if they do originate from L.A./Cali, as it would prove, circumstantially, that I called it right. BTW--I love Mutant Enemy, but I was correct in voicing that Dollhouse needed a more linear story arc, whether this season will deliver that, or not, I don't know, but I hope so, as I have learned much from Joss and company as a writer, and I am cheering for them to succeed, even when sometimes, it seems that I am not? A "Yes Man" is worrying (not I), because they won't tell you the truth, when you really need to know it, and hear it, but someone who is willing to debate you, and disagree with your position, well, they may be a pain in the ass, but they can also cause you take a second look at your own position, to see if it is indeed as strong as you assume that it is--and that has been my purpose. Was I pressing my ideas too much??? Yes, maybe...but with good reason: 1) It was a good idea, and 2) More importantly, I was doing it, largely because a girl I knew was sick and in need of money--so I tried as best I could, to make a quick buck, for her, by selling myself. I had honorable intentions, but when you know someone is dying--you can seem very desperate, because you are desperate--in an attempt to give them, the person you are trying to help, a better life. She has since married, and she says she's happy now...so I am not in such a rush anymore, that is, to sell my works. While I was trying to save her, she, metaphorically, threw me under a bus--such is the irony of life--"No good deed goes unpunished?" I'm not crazy, well, I was crazy in love (but I was good to the girl I loved), and maybe I'm crazy like a fox(?), but I am also a sweetheart.

Good luck on the new season Joss. If it sucks, I'll say it, but if it rocks, I'll say it louder!!!

Dollhouse / Faith the Character sucks

    by ryanbraun14

fiester said: "Buffy Crossover....Echo is really Faith. The Dollhouse is actually run by a radical secret offshoot of the Watchers captured her wiped her memory." I know that would never happen, but it would be the best mindfuck in TV history probably the best mindfuck for the forseeble future. (one of the best mindfucks was when buffy got a sister out of the blue. another one is the season finale of a season of Alias where we learn she's been gone for years.HOWEVER, a Faith series would SUCK on every level. The character Faith has zero depth--nowhere near the appeal of Angel, Buffy and Spike. A Spike series would be redonkulous as he steals every scene he appears in. Faith is more of a caricature of a character... she's got an edge... loner... other side of the tracks... Five by five??? what the fuck? I cringe every time i hear that... that and when she comes to the show and immediately calls buffy 'b' Faith is good for a few small arcs, but a terrible character to put in the spotlight.

LOL - MM is talkback gold

    by ryanbraun14

MM said: "In regard to media therapists, their professionalism, or not, is entirely subjective, but again...this is a term that they regularly use."Are you THAT delusional to say that if you hypothetically were to have a therapist, it would be a therapist with a specialty of dealing with those in the entertainment business? I can just see it now--you waltz into their office, your 'script treatments' in hand, saying Whedon is your mentor (even though you never have met him) and the doctor looks at your treatments, tells you how you need a different kind of therapist, and you respond by accusing him of being a threatened producer of dollhouse. Seriously though, go to that 'media' psychologist and when he asks what your role in the business is, tell him you're an ideas man who has a functioning yet one sided relationship with the Dollhouse writers on these talkbacks and your life will finally turn the corner because a professional will make you understand that you are not in touch with reality.Of course, by saying 'media psychologist' you could mean 'I am media-messiah and my doctor is my media-doctor and my parents are my media-parents and my ex girlfriend is a genious for breaking up with me.'

Eliza Dushkus ass is the best part of this show

    by macready452

Everything else about it is mediocre at best. I love the scenes when she is supposed to be like a superspy but she can barely move across the screen in her imposible high heels. Show is average, Whedon is average. Any injection of BSG will be a welcome addition to a weak show. I WANT it to be good. It just isn't.

White Goodman-On the subject of Alexis Denisof..

    by steverodgers5

Yeah, you are so right. Alexis Denisof was probably the best actor to have been on any of the Whedon shows..(Certainly from Angel season 3 onwards when they started giving him enough decent material to run with it and steal the show from Boreanaz..)

It's an utter crime what happened to him there. And oh yeah not only should he have been Mr Fantastic, but one of the early writers on that was pushing for him to play the part..Before that idiot Barbershop director got signed up and had it all rewritten into another dull origin tale/Jesscia Alba vanity piece. (Sigh! What might have been..)

    unaired pilot

    by heks

I'm a little late to this party, but I just recently had a chance to watch the unaired original pilot to this show. What a difference. I thought it was great, and Dushku's acting was actually surprisingly good. If they'd aired that in the first place, they would have had me locked in for the season instead of thinking each week that I wouldn't watch the next. In fact, the only thing that kept me watching the promise that things would get better from episode 6 ... and they did ... but if stupid-ass FOX had let Joss go with this pilot, what a different and purposeful first season we could have had instead of wasting 5 episodes on pointless nonsense and then having to spend the rest of the season playing catch-up to make up for them.
