Learn Who Summer Glau Plays On Joss Whedon’s DOLLHOUSE!!

I am – Hercules!!
As promised, “Firefly”/“Sarah Connor Chronicles” girl Summer Glau will not play another hot, skinny active in Joss Whedon’s “Dollhouse.”
Instead she’ll play Bennett, “a Dollhouse employee who shares a past with Eliza Dushku’s Echo,” according to Entertainment Weekly.
I’d guess we’re all hoping that “past” Bennett shares with Echo is an very intimate one.
Also guesting on “Dollhouse” this season are Amy Acker’s romantic interest from “Angel,” Alexis Denisof, and Tahmoh Penikett’s “Galactica” co-stars Jamie Bamber and Michael Hogan.
Season two of “Dollhouse” begins Sept. 25 on Fox.

Can't wait for the new season to start now.
-
Please tell me you're a fellow Geordie, that would be 'geet lush like'. I'm far from home but it's nice to see 'my kind' in places like this...
-
The flashback scenes seem to stink generally. Epitath One was great, I really hope we get more "future flashbacks" this season than save the bunny/became a Doll to forget my baby/what an interesting job opportunity flashbacks.
-
I'm not a Geordie, but I loves me a bottle or two of Newcastle's finest. I'm down in Sheffield.
-
and with their already stellar writing, it should be a good year.
-
but with Dollhouse, she will probably just ruin her career.
-
Cast her as mine, please.
-
was the best thing on the S1 DVD, but the unaired Pilot was a close second. Yet more proof that network executives are total morons when it comes to determining what makes good TV.
-
It sickens me to see Glau join Dollhouse since this shit show survived yet T:SCC, possibly the best sci-fi show in years gets the Axe!
-
I kinda don't care anymore about the hole between the "present" and epitaph one. they should just continue the story from there
-
That would jack up a few episodes.
-
Since it wasn't aired, is it still considered canon?
-
it's like a music artist who has gone experimental and plays all this new shit, but their fans just want them to play the old songs.
jamie bamber, mickeal hogan, summer glau, dennis alexisof, all we need is spike back and i'll be in heaven.. oo and xander! -
...through the Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Interested enough to see how Season 2 starts and Bennett's (Glau) place in the Series. And the return of ALPHA.
-
Thanks, but it's only a matter of time before the Whedon haters show up! It could get messy!

Season finale with guesting david boreanaz & sarah michael gell

...just dreaming...............
-
Although you do get the feeling them wise old execs down at FOX are really trying to capture the 'geek' audience. If they've stopped messing about with the format and just let Joss do his thing, this show can just keep getting better.
I mean come on, how good was Epitaph One? Is Amy Acker gone from the cast now? -
Yeah! Echo is really Faith. The Dollhouse is actually run by a radical secret offshoot of the Watchers captured her wiped her memory.
-
Now with added reminders of a superior tv series cancelled way before its time.I'm talking about Firefly, of course, and not Terminator: TSCC. Not a bad series, that one, but nowhere in the same league as Firefly.
-
take from that what you will
-
I heart whiskey
-
no no...its the Initiative, the government is trying to create a Slayer army to fight for freedom....or just do nasty evil duplicitive (spelling?) things, either or. :P
-
Epitaph One gives a good idea of where this series is heading, and its definately in Terminator territory. If they can further that storyline over the "whore of the week" episodes, it has a chance to break out of the dulls.
-
He needs work too, and Fox owes him because he was owning when Terminator ended. Had it been the John Connor Chronicles, the show wouldn't have died in two seasons.
-
and guest star in a total recall themed episode of dollhouse. I have to hand it to Joss, he has a gift when it comes to making great television shows out of early 90 scifi films...
-
This is SUPER news! Summer Glau is a NATURAL fit for this show! I mean, she IS one of the hottest chicks on TV, WAY BETTER than most of the other actresses out there. THIS SHOW, Dollhouse, looks to be a lot better this season!
-
in season 2. FOX isn't fucking up the second season, like they are doing to Fringe's second season cast!
-
posers such as Hayden and many others who are barely average looking.

Herc, it's not to quit. It's time to just go start your own website that's dedicated to your love affair with all things Joss Whedon. This website isn't really cut out anymore for your very one-sided coverage of this one man. I mean we had to complain to Harry for you to give us a True Blood talk-back and you did it half-assed. You either need to quit here or Harry needs to fire your ass. All the Coaxial section has become has been "Whedon-World", mainly featuring shows that have ex Buffy cast members in them. That's fine, quit AICN and go make your own website. Hell, call it WhedonWorld! There are really well done, cheap, professional looking blogging sites out there like Squarespace that cost only like 14 bucks a month for a fair amount of traffic. It should handle the traffic of the people that are so into Whedon like you are...which is what, like 20 or so? You can post anything you want there as it will be YOUR site dedicated to what you love most! So please think of just quitting AICN and turning Coaxial over to someone that actually likes other TV shows and has a little more diverse tastes.
-
I was born to be her bitch!!!
-
Herc can do whatever he wants, just like the rest of the people who run the site. Stop reading his articles if you don't like them.Have some fucking respect for Summer Glau, too, and Joss Whedon. The dude loves and respects women more than any other sci-fi impresario I can think of. I doubt Summer Glau is in this because of any blowjob administration but instead because she is hot, talented and mysterious.
-
Made you click on the article, did he? Herc has powers that are not of ordinary men!! By all means, complain to Harry about coaxial - after he is done laughing, he'll forward the email to Herc so he can have a laugh too.
-
...in the bedroom!!!
-
A whore is a whore on the street; the street being where whores hang out and talk about whore things. Maybe you should admend that to "Wife in the kitchen; whore in the bedroom". You can't even demean women properly *sheesh*
-
was shot as a possible Series Finale, and was set in 2019, with flashbacks occuring at unspecified points between then and now.Now that they have another season to play with, they have said that that episode is a glimpse at a possible future that they don't want to be tied down to in crafting future stories. Otherwise some Whedonhating AICN Talkbackers would say "Why should we watch Dullhouse? We already know what that's leading towards! Bring back Terminator:SCC! We don't know how that's going to end!... Oh wait..."
-
...nor was I demeaning a singular woman, that would be...Summer Glau. I respect her, and I like her very much...but, when a couple love each other, well, if you are coupled with someone, if either of you is out on the on the street, meaning, when one or the other, is out in public, they should each act accordingly, like a lady, and a gentleman, but behind closed doors, again, if they love each other...and the passion is there, they should both be each other's whores. That has nothing to do with disrespect, it has to do with being passionate and loving, and keeping the fires of own's relationship burning brightly. If you are not that for your partner, your lover will go elsewhere, and get it, that kind of hot passion, from someone else--hence, the term, "A Woman Has To Be A Lady In The Street, And A Whore (A Freak) In The Bedroom."
-
TTSCC had a great cast and a good premise but the writing was a little off. I enjoyed the more action-oriented finale a lot because they allowed Summer's Terminator to actually terminate things. TTSCC was a little slow and talky but it was never creepy & embarassing like every episode of Dollhouse was, IMO.
-

Oh, and BTW, psychiatrists regular use this term when giving sexual and relationship advice to their patients--the term did not originate with me. Now, Buffy...come here, and...(#*%*#@##*!!!) Uh, sorry, I forgot this is a family web site!!!
-
(No, MM, not you; I'll get to you laters)
@ Margot: See that is one of the reasons why I like D'House. It IS creepy. These aren't "heroes". Even the characters who are supposed to be heroes, aren't heroes. You have a bunch of people who tried to run away from their problems and bunch of others taking advantage of that. The evil road to Dollhouse is paved with good intentions. It's not only trying to put you in the Doll's perpective but it's trying to put you into the perspective of someone who would hire a Doll. Hence, the embarassing & creepy. However, I would rather watch the perpective of many, than a narrow view of the slavery, prositution and brainwashing. If you narrow the focus, you are going to get something shallow and truly horrifing (see: first 5 standalones) -
There is no such term as a "Lady in the street blah bla blah". It's "Wife in the kitchen; Whore in the bedroom". Now, quit making up catchphrases from your pretend psychiatrist (It's obvious that you don't have one.)
-
So automatically I know I won't be seeing that movie.
Whedon is, like, doing the opposite with this series.
It's like he's tapping into my secret desires.
Joss, if you're reading this: Amy, Eliza, Summer --> no clothes. -
WAH!
-
You can get most for free online. You might have to wait a few seconds or minutes to get the buffering started but it's free.
-
I just don't get the whole fascination with Summer Glau. She's an inexpressive one-note actress and 62.5% of her face is her giant monolithic forehead. I mean really, you guys find that hot? It's like she's got an Easter Island statue on top of her scrawny frame. I guess it takes all kinds...
-
assassin? Snore.
-
THAT is some cool news. I was afraid that guy would get left in the Canadian TV ghetto.
Now get Doc Cottle to puff smoke all over the screen and we're talking. -
So delusional, absolutely hillarious, great character.
-
...among psychiatrists, and sexual therapy experts.

Ever.

Miyamoto_Musashi: I Can Always Wish For A Woman Like...
by media messiah
...that. She is smart, a great dancer, and a looker. What man wouldn't want a woman like that, in his wildest dreams?
-
just enjoy your posts, it reminds me of trying to make sense of a David Lynch movie when incredibly drunk, wherreas when you are high they actually make more sense
-
Along the lines of Jimmyboy Cameron's 3D! movie, you know ocular sex and all, why wasn't it aired in the first place?
-
I love David Lynch...and I strongely believe that Lynch directly inspired Tarantino's early films--in feel, and tone, at least, but Tarantino has yet to give him credit for that inspiration??? Now, I must admit that I hated "Dune", as it looks like a really expensive student film, and I am not crazy about "Lost Highway", or "Mulholland Drive"...which both lack clear stories, but "Blue Velvet" and "Wild At Heart" were truly great, great films...both worthy of Best Picture noms, and wins, at the Oscars--sadly, they got neither???
-
If you are a hetrosexual male, its great for one scene alone, still have happy thoughts about that scene
-
...I have a DVD that won't rewind, or fast foward, so you have to watch the film, from start to the point that the scene appears, if you want to view it??? That is the only way that I can specifically see that scene--and study it. That Latina actress...has one of the most stunning nude bodies that I have ever witnessed. Simply amazing!!! She should be one of the most famous women in Hollywood today, thanks to that scene alone. Why she is not, shocks me to no end???
-
the 4400. Though, you could say that ship was going down regardless, so maybe it's not fair to blame it on her.Whatever one may think of Whedon, at least he treats his ensembles to a good welfare plan. Who else needs work nowadays? Xander? Tara? Anya?
-
Your therapist is fucking with you and making up incorrect catchphrases. Write in your journal about it; then next session, shove it in his face [not the actual journal; just your thoughts].
-
I am simply very interested in these topics, and psychiatry, as a whole, and have seen a number of therapists interviewed about this subject matter, and this is a common use term they use.
-
I'm not bulling you for fun or anything. It's the wrong phrase. It can't be common because it's WRONG.
-
based on Alias. Don't you think?
-
We were both wrong. It's "Chef in the kitchen; Whore in the bedroom." You were still way more wrong than I was though.
-
If you're googling, it's cook not chef actually.
Either way, yeah, MM was wrong. Again. -
Some people might think so, but no.
Dollhouse is a show about identity, and how technology can and will change the way we think of identity in the future.
Alias was about wigs, sprints, and family ties. -
Yeah I know, just a bit of shameless MM goading. I'm still bitter because he cost me my jobat Mutant Enemy. Guur-Argh.
-
Is this piece of shit show still on... I rented Firefly from blockbuster and it was the biggest let down. You geeks build this guy up like he's some demigod but he's a fucking hack! That's why his shows get fucking canceled.
-
I know Joss is a big BSG fan and that's cool, but this stunt casting is getting a little silly.
-
The second I saw the preview for this I was like....ummm this is missing Summer Glau. Good thing they cancelled that horrible Terminator show. Anyone watch the movie Mammoth? Good stuff it is.
-
I love these casting decisions! Summer Glau and Battlestar Galactica expatriates on a second, likely more streamlined season two of "Dollhouse"?
Can't freakin' wait. I'll mos def be tuning in. -
The scripts need to be really tight this year. They can't afford another 6 episodes of mediocre waffle.
If they could end the season with another low budget awesome DVD-only episode which builds on Epitaph one, I'd be thrilled. -

Just add some Star Trek and 24 actors and the whole series explo
by mrmysteryguest
-
Why wasn't this mentioned in the main story??
-
Trying to get me to sympathize, in episode after episode, with that chattering psycho who does the mind wipes, the madame of the house and the watcher guy who hates his job but still comes to work every day is what's creepy and embarrassing. It goes without saying that the people who HIRE the dolls are awful human beings.
-
That guy was the shit on Angel and then disappeared when it ended. He should have been Mr. Fantastic.
-
That alwaysconfused me as well, I'd have thought he'd out together an actual careerafter Angel. I never really even liked Angel (a big reason being the mediocre actors), but he was great. Maybe he's just not interested in acting though.
-
Eliza Dushku, Amy Acker and Summer Glau all in the same show? I'm there!
-
on my lap a lot.Seriously, though, I saw that one girl from Firefly -- Jewel Staite -- holy shit! she is FINE in person.
-
In regard to media therapists, their professionalism, or not, is entirely subjective, but again...this is a term that they regularly use.
-
I wasn't trying to get you to sympathize. My opinion is different than yours regarding "creepy" aspects that's all.
-
But we all know that the project is dead in the water since JC is more focused on something "original" like Avatar.
-
He gets to pork Allyson Hannigan, that's what he's doing.
-
is exactly what I like about this show. By showing them all in morally corrupt situations to begin with, it then DARES you to sympathise with them. Did anyone not feel for Topher during his breakdown scene in Epitaph One? Or for DeWitt in Spy In The House of Love? They may not be heroic characters, but they are all conflicted and (to varying degrees) interestng. Other shows like The Wire and Dexter show morally suspect stuff, doesn't effect their popularity.
Hopefully in season 2 we'll see more of the ensemble. I've got no problem with Dushku, but the other members of the cast really outshine her sometimes. Especially Victor, I mean how good an actor is he? Still not sold on Tahmoh, maybe its just because I wasn't a big fan of Helo in BSG either, but sometimes he oversells the earnest. So more Victor, Sierra, Boyd and Adelle please Joss. -
And there, Media Messiah, is where the problem lies.
-
Denisof married for ruining his career. I've read that he is now the "on set" baby-sitter (manny)for the HIMYM cast and crew babies. Hannigan sure has him whipped!
-
So, does the Bluray release of Dollhouse have an interactive feature for his legions of fanboys to suck him off and proclaim his greatness? I swear this guy is overrated. People think Lucas is all about money, yet Joss Whedon fans would buy his piss.
-

-
Or, you know, any show thats actually GOOD.
-
You are still obsessed with me, because I dared write about how the show could be rebooted? Well, both Joss Whedon and the Fox execs said that the shw was broken and in need of a fix...so I didn't just make that fact up--those closest to the show said it, and openly. So how am I the bad guy here? I forwarded my views for point of discussion, and thusly, I devised a workable idea for a second season story arc for the show...and posted it here on AICN. You can't honestly say it was a horrible, or even empty, idea. It was a nice idea, as good as anything that might come from any top notch production company. It might not be for Joss, but it was/is...very linear, and very audience, and story friendly, and that was my point in writing it. I have asked you, and others who have assailed me, for daring to write a story outline, as I did, to best me with your own ideas and stories, and to a person, you have all been unable to do it? You are easy to criticize, but slow to show that you can best what I wrote, or even to challenge it, with your own ideas...and that says all that needs to be said???
-
Sir, its been said before, no one is obsessed with you, you're just a bit of a character (which I mean in a good way.) Some find your nuttiness endearing, some find it hilarious, some find it worrying.
No one thinks you're a bad guy.
How'd your quest go to get us fired from Mutant Enemy by the way? :) -
That was a silly little game of Psi-Ops. I was simply getting a read on you guys, psychologically, speaking. I certainly noticed that some of the accusatory tone disappeared after that--which, informed me, at least, that I may have been right about a small number of those who were giving me a bad time? And I would be very interested if the vast majority of their IP addresses originated in Los Angeles, and or, California, something that the moderator of this Talkback would know, and certainly would not disclose, to maintain the privacy of those posting--still, it certainly would be enlightening if they do originate from L.A./Cali, as it would prove, circumstantially, that I called it right. BTW--I love Mutant Enemy, but I was correct in voicing that Dollhouse needed a more linear story arc, whether this season will deliver that, or not, I don't know, but I hope so, as I have learned much from Joss and company as a writer, and I am cheering for them to succeed, even when sometimes, it seems that I am not? A "Yes Man" is worrying (not I), because they won't tell you the truth, when you really need to know it, and hear it, but someone who is willing to debate you, and disagree with your position, well, they may be a pain in the ass, but they can also cause you take a second look at your own position, to see if it is indeed as strong as you assume that it is--and that has been my purpose. Was I pressing my ideas too much??? Yes, maybe...but with good reason: 1) It was a good idea, and 2) More importantly, I was doing it, largely because a girl I knew was sick and in need of money--so I tried as best I could, to make a quick buck, for her, by selling myself. I had honorable intentions, but when you know someone is dying--you can seem very desperate, because you are desperate--in an attempt to give them, the person you are trying to help, a better life. She has since married, and she says she's happy now...so I am not in such a rush anymore, that is, to sell my works. While I was trying to save her, she, metaphorically, threw me under a bus--such is the irony of life--"No good deed goes unpunished?" I'm not crazy, well, I was crazy in love (but I was good to the girl I loved), and maybe I'm crazy like a fox(?), but I am also a sweetheart.
Good luck on the new season Joss. If it sucks, I'll say it, but if it rocks, I'll say it louder!!! -
We called you on your bullshit and you still maintain you were right.
You're a fascinating case study dude. Your insanity manifests in ways I just could never predict. -
That Media Messiah guy cracks me up. Can't wait to tell my colleagues at Mutant Enemy about him on Monday morning. Grrrr Aargh.
-
I hope I'm lucky enough to have someone obsess over a television show on an internet message board for me.
-
Not a single "AMENDED" post in the thread? The options seem to be either a) imposter b) he really IS seeing a therapist and it is starting to help c)he compulsively types his Amended posts, but refrains from posting them just to jack with us
-
I'm concentrating on the ordinary world now. God bless.
-
@Chromedome, it's him. He's just easing up on the Amendments. However, his persistent use of three question marks at the end of a statement, is a dead give away.
It's him??? -
How can she play non skinny when she's about 30 pounds underweight?
-
Is a dancer and has a dancer's body. The descriptive 'lithe' comes to mind.
-
fiester said: "Buffy Crossover....Echo is really Faith. The Dollhouse is actually run by a radical secret offshoot of the Watchers captured her wiped her memory." I know that would never happen, but it would be the best mindfuck in TV history probably the best mindfuck for the forseeble future. (one of the best mindfucks was when buffy got a sister out of the blue. another one is the season finale of a season of Alias where we learn she's been gone for years.HOWEVER, a Faith series would SUCK on every level. The character Faith has zero depth--nowhere near the appeal of Angel, Buffy and Spike. A Spike series would be redonkulous as he steals every scene he appears in. Faith is more of a caricature of a character... she's got an edge... loner... other side of the tracks... Five by five??? what the fuck? I cringe every time i hear that... that and when she comes to the show and immediately calls buffy 'b' Faith is good for a few small arcs, but a terrible character to put in the spotlight.
-
MM said: "In regard to media therapists, their professionalism, or not, is entirely subjective, but again...this is a term that they regularly use."Are you THAT delusional to say that if you hypothetically were to have a therapist, it would be a therapist with a specialty of dealing with those in the entertainment business? I can just see it now--you waltz into their office, your 'script treatments' in hand, saying Whedon is your mentor (even though you never have met him) and the doctor looks at your treatments, tells you how you need a different kind of therapist, and you respond by accusing him of being a threatened producer of dollhouse. Seriously though, go to that 'media' psychologist and when he asks what your role in the business is, tell him you're an ideas man who has a functioning yet one sided relationship with the Dollhouse writers on these talkbacks and your life will finally turn the corner because a professional will make you understand that you are not in touch with reality.Of course, by saying 'media psychologist' you could mean 'I am media-messiah and my doctor is my media-doctor and my parents are my media-parents and my ex girlfriend is a genious for breaking up with me.'
-
Everything else about it is mediocre at best. I love the scenes when she is supposed to be like a superspy but she can barely move across the screen in her imposible high heels. Show is average, Whedon is average. Any injection of BSG will be a welcome addition to a weak show. I WANT it to be good. It just isn't.
-
Google for "Media therapist"
They seem to be a collection of unqualified nutbars, sexperts, love-guru's, sexologists,etc..
Hilarious! I bet you have to pay a "media therapist" by the hour, too. -
Yeah, you are so right. Alexis Denisof was probably the best actor to have been on any of the Whedon shows..(Certainly from Angel season 3 onwards when they started giving him enough decent material to run with it and steal the show from Boreanaz..)
It's an utter crime what happened to him there. And oh yeah not only should he have been Mr Fantastic, but one of the early writers on that was pushing for him to play the part..Before that idiot Barbershop director got signed up and had it all rewritten into another dull origin tale/Jesscia Alba vanity piece. (Sigh! What might have been..)
-
I'm a little late to this party, but I just recently had a chance to watch the unaired original pilot to this show. What a difference. I thought it was great, and Dushku's acting was actually surprisingly good. If they'd aired that in the first place, they would have had me locked in for the season instead of thinking each week that I wouldn't watch the next. In fact, the only thing that kept me watching the promise that things would get better from episode 6 ... and they did ... but if stupid-ass FOX had let Joss go with this pilot, what a different and purposeful first season we could have had instead of wasting 5 episodes on pointless nonsense and then having to spend the rest of the season playing catch-up to make up for them.
