Will GREEN LANTERN be victim of the the ever weakening dollar?

Hey folks, Harry here with a pair of stories regarding GREEN LANTERN and the Australian media. On foreign productions we're often dependent upon our colleagues overseas to do a good job in reporting film related news. But, as always, you must consider the source. Early today I received a link to this story about economic woes with GREEN LANTERN due to the strong Aussie Greenback, of course it also mentioned for a short time that James Cameron was directing (that was corrected to Martin Campbell, who really is directing). But that one blemish in the fact checking doesn't get in the way of the fact that GREEN LANTERN may be facing problems with green. The more serious factor mentioned in the article is the scriptwork to secure the financing. I love GREEN LANTERN as a comic character and as a potential movie character. This is a very big science fiction version of GREEN LANTERN - including the Green Lantern Corps storyline. I've heard there has been some concern regarding some of the more comical aspects of the odd Green Lantern Corps characters - and just how alien they can be. PERSONALLY, I feel they have to 100% embrace and go with the crazyness of the Green Lantern Corps... This isn't IRON MAN or BATMAN where dialing the comic book in, to make everything Ultra-Realistic is necessary. This is GREEN LANTERN, and while he may exist in the same universe as BATMAN, he exists in a MUCH LARGER Universe. In fact he exists upon a Multi-verse of incredibly possibilities. And that is what MAKES him and the Corps so amazing. That you can let your imagination go. What has to be serious or dark is the THREAT. That the Threat create concern and tension amongst all these strange entities. DISTRICT 9 clearly shows that audiences crave and can sympathize with all manners of disgusting, odd or inhuman things. Now with this film truly go for it. Hopefully that's what they're doing with the script. I have a lot of hope for this film, even though Martin Campbell has never proven himself with this type of material... I think we'll see GREEN LANTERN move forward - unless there really is a Ryan Reynolds/Superhero curse that just won't allow him to be a hero. In which case... they're fucked. The real question is will this film shoot in Australia or pick up and go elsewhere? Warners knows full well the potential value these films have and a great GREEN LANTERN movie can be something that expands the realm of Superhero film possibilities. Ultimately, they'd probably get better value for their money by shooting in Ireland - where the benefits being offered to studios are greater than in Australia - and ultimately... shooting GREEN LANTERN on the Emerald Isle is just way cooler... personally. Who knows. The coming weeks will spell out what happens with GREEN LANTERN - it has had a bit of script trouble, now some money issues. I'm a cautious optimist about this project though, and I'm hoping for the best.
