Kids In The Hall Reunite To Write And Star In New Canadian Series DEATH COMES TO TOWN!!

Published at:  Aug 21, 2009 5:00:00 PM CDT

I am – Hercules!!

Variety reports that all five original cast members of Canada’s “Kids in the Hall” have reunited to write and star in an eight-episode miniseries for Canada’s public television network CBC.

Titled “Death Comes To Town,” it’s about what happens when a suspected small-town serial murderer is arrested and tried.

Kelly Makin (“Mickey Blue Eyes”), who directed the original 1988-1994 CBC/HBO “Kids In The Hall” series as well as the big-screen 1996 spin-off “Brain Candy,” directs the new series as well.

No word yet on whether or not the series will air in the United States.

Ain't It Old News Strikes Again

    by guru_askew

This is seriously like 6-month-old news. LITERALLY.

It's one thing for Variety to make a big deal out of news that's going on a year old because all the silent film-era geezers in nursing homes aren't internet-savvy but how do you justify it when this has been well-documented on IMDB and Wikipedia for months?

    Reply to Talkback

  • Aug 22, 2009 12:03:23 AM CDT

    Scratch that "six months" nonsense

    by guru_askew

I actually am the one who submitted "Death Comes to Town" on IMDB (not that that means jack shit) but there are posts on the IMDB message board dating back to August of 2008.

This news is literally more than a YEAR OLD.

    by guru_askew

than crave respect and/or admiration for taking 5 minutes to submit a new title to IMDB.

Still, years from now my great-grandchildren will gather around to hear that "Death Comes to Town" didn't exist on IMDB before I submitted it, Goddamn it!

All joking aside, this just isn't news. I didn't pull it out of my ass when I submitted it to IMDB over a year ago. Again, it was documented on Wikipedia etc. and it was announced in Canadian websites and publications.

Truth be told, by the time I was submitting it to IMDB I had read about it elsewhere. I don't remember where it was but I certainly don't take credit for discovering it, I just take credit for discovering it like 2 weeks late as opposed to 12 months late.

Mind you all the state members have gone on to do hilarious stuff but really the state was just a decent sketch show with occasionally good writing.

I laughed more reading this TB, than any TB before it. Simply due to the references. I saw these guys live in 2000. If you ever get the chance, it's the way to see 'em! My top 5 would have to go: 1)Carol Burnett 2)Kids in the Hall 3)Mr. Show (best segues EVER!) 4)Robot Chicken 5) Monty Python

Daily Show is better than This Hour and Rick Mercer

    by tall_boy66

Gotta be honest when a fake news show is better, but I do think This Hour Has 22 Minutes has been running longer than the Daily Show as the fake-news broadcast. And I love the Ti-Cats (who aren't sucking this year) but NFL is better than CFL just due to the quality of players. I do like 3 downs instead of 4, though. Makes for a more intense game (none of this run-run-pass nonsense. We got 2 downs to git er done or kick it.) But, the real reason why I'd never leave Canada for the US - the amount of alchool in our beer (4% beer? Really, yanks) and our strip clubs (they can't get fully naked at the strip clubs in the US? Really? Or you can't drink?). Also, no hurricanes are kind of nice.
