Kids In The Hall Reunite To Write And Star In New Canadian Series DEATH COMES TO TOWN!!
I am – Hercules!!
Variety reports that all five original cast members of Canada’s “Kids in the Hall” have reunited to write and star in an eight-episode miniseries for Canada’s public television network CBC.
Titled “Death Comes To Town,” it’s about what happens when a suspected small-town serial murderer is arrested and tried.
Kelly Makin (“Mickey Blue Eyes”), who directed the original 1988-1994 CBC/HBO “Kids In The Hall” series as well as the big-screen 1996 spin-off “Brain Candy,” directs the new series as well.
No word yet on whether or not the series will air in the United States.

-
Is this a comedy?
-
Wait--what?!
-
The KITH need to come back and rape our eyes with comedy!!!!
-
That is awesome news. Those guys have been off the radar for far too long. Kids in the Hall is fucking amazing and helped pave the way for a lot of really edgy comedy.
-
There damn well better be some head crushing.
-
I saw their recent tour of all new material in L.A. and it was a laugh of loud riot. -
After watching a Dave Foley Christmas special a couple of years ago that was so bad that I couldn't believe they allowed it to air I can only hope that a team effort can put aside the bickering and bring back some of the old magic.
-
Your mother's cheating on me.
-
Man-servant Hecubus! Chicken-Lady!God, I LOVE these guys. I saw them in concert the night Cobain shot himself. Weird day.
Mark did the "crushing your head" sketch with a flashlight, making head-crushing shadow puppets. Unreal & so funny. -
Brain Candy is an underappreciated comedy classic. Saw their live show a few years ago and they definitely still had it.
-
saw them on their last tour and they had mostly new material - it was fucking fantastic. They've only gotten better as they've aged. This should be good.
-
can you believe it?
-
I saw their recent tour as well. My god, why did they ever split up?!
-
This is awesome news!
-
oh my god I can't wait...
-
that was always one of my favorites, for some reason. i was highly impressed recently when i made a reference at work to a gazebo killing someone, and a girl who's a good six or seven years younger than me actually knew what i was talking about.
-
Cannot wait for this!
-
I guess we won't be getting a State reunion anytime soon.
-
uh, no...that's not it.

The Queen doesn't know her ABC's.

Man those guys are hilarious. can't wait.

Sounds promising. Shame that Dave Foley never quite got the mainstream success he seemed to deserve.

New KitH?!! Well, sorta?! This is really great news. Awesome show, awesome troop.
At the 2002 tour there was live audience member head crushing from the the stage by way of a little webcam, heh heh. Missed the dang 08 tour. -
about that show I went to. At the end, they mentioned Cobain & how they were flying down to Seattle the next day & played themselves off to "Teen Spirit". Then in an upcoming show during a Buddy sketch, he had a picture of Cobain as a kid on his bar. Like I said, weird day.

1. Monty Python.
2. SCTV.
3. Kids in the Hall.
KITH was a brilliant show. Hope this does well!
-
But I did it the same as always! I set the oven at 350...
Did you drop it in salt on the way home?? -

Comedy GOLD!!! -
Still comedy GOLD!!!
-
Is the best sketch show ever in my opinion. But Kids in the Hall is way up there as well, and that's from having only seen a few episodes. And its got an unforgettable theme-song.
-
I'm Canadian, too, so we win.
-
... But KITH was great.
-
This is seriously like 6-month-old news. LITERALLY.
It's one thing for Variety to make a big deal out of news that's going on a year old because all the silent film-era geezers in nursing homes aren't internet-savvy but how do you justify it when this has been well-documented on IMDB and Wikipedia for months? -
I actually am the one who submitted "Death Comes to Town" on IMDB (not that that means jack shit) but there are posts on the IMDB message board dating back to August of 2008.
This news is literally more than a YEAR OLD. -
Wow, that's not a desperate attempt at internet glory at all.
-
than crave respect and/or admiration for taking 5 minutes to submit a new title to IMDB.
Still, years from now my great-grandchildren will gather around to hear that "Death Comes to Town" didn't exist on IMDB before I submitted it, Goddamn it!
All joking aside, this just isn't news. I didn't pull it out of my ass when I submitted it to IMDB over a year ago. Again, it was documented on Wikipedia etc. and it was announced in Canadian websites and publications.
Truth be told, by the time I was submitting it to IMDB I had read about it elsewhere. I don't remember where it was but I certainly don't take credit for discovering it, I just take credit for discovering it like 2 weeks late as opposed to 12 months late. -
You know I didn't grow up with "teh state" and as I've watched the first two seasons every eo has been, "yeay this wild and all but really it just isn't making me laugh" meanwhile MOnty python Mr. Show and KITH have aged gracefully. Mind you all the state members have gone on to do hilarious stuff but really the state was just a decent sketch show with occasionally good writing.
-
if not I'll have to move to frickin Canada.
-
who gives a flying fuck if this airs south of the border.... This is one great canadian group and this show will be pure bliss... all you yanks can watch all your SNL you want and go fuck yourselves! I...... AM....... CANADIAN!!!!!!!!!!

so can i....
it's nowhere near as good as this hour has 22 minutes or the Rick Mercer Report.
peace? you guys don't even know the meaning of the word.... but from someone from the true north strong and free, let me say, truly... peace. -
Let's be fucking honest here.
-
Dave Allen At Large, The Carol Burnett show.
-
When other people were listing their top sketch shows, I honestly thought, "What about the Carol Burnett show?". And while I think KitH is top tier, I have never laughed at ANY variety/sketch show harder that I have laughed at Carol Burnett. That show reduced me to tears & tummy aches from laughing.
-
Enough said.
-
Got to go with The Frantics as the funniest thing north of the 49th parallel.
Boot To The Head! -
...may I make one teeny, tiny suggestion?
More dipping areas. -
Awesome news!!!
...but it has been news up here for a few months at least. Great to see our neighbours to the South giving something of ours that we love, some love as well! I laughed more reading this TB, than any TB before it. Simply due to the references. I saw these guys live in 2000. If you ever get the chance, it's the way to see 'em! My top 5 would have to go: 1)Carol Burnett 2)Kids in the Hall 3)Mr. Show (best segues EVER!) 4)Robot Chicken 5) Monty Python
A special mention goes to You Can't Do That on Television...another Canadian Gem. -
Monty Python>Mr.Show>KITH>everything else
-
Hey. Hey. Look at me. Wheeeeeeee.
-
...gonna take a whole lotta milk. The Frantics..hell yes... Mr Canoe Head was gold
-
.. the Internet will care if it airs in the US.

The only way you get a pass for saying that is if you never saw mr. Show. There will never be sketch comedy better than mr show. Bob and David rock!!

He don't like 'em
-
Mr. Show was amazing. I would consider it pretty much equal to KITH (they were different so it is impossible to say which one was "better")... this is in no way to dismiss SCTV or Monty Python, but they were from a different era and KITH and Mr. Show are peers and of the same generation. Could you imagine what would happen if both groups worked together on a project... that would be scary funny!
-
BRAIN CANDY is a masterstroke of comedy.
-
I don't see any mention of this being a "funny" show...

Back in the day, I thought Dave Foley was going to be big, but shit, he's still an unknown.
-
They're all available on the comedy network website. Same with South Park. And it's on 4 times a day here at various hours. So, uh, yeah, Daily Show and Colbert is awesome and it's not as if we've never heard of it in the cold, baren wastelands of Canada. Really.
-
Gotta be honest when a fake news show is better, but I do think This Hour Has 22 Minutes has been running longer than the Daily Show as the fake-news broadcast. And I love the Ti-Cats (who aren't sucking this year) but NFL is better than CFL just due to the quality of players. I do like 3 downs instead of 4, though. Makes for a more intense game (none of this run-run-pass nonsense. We got 2 downs to git er done or kick it.) But, the real reason why I'd never leave Canada for the US - the amount of alchool in our beer (4% beer? Really, yanks) and our strip clubs (they can't get fully naked at the strip clubs in the US? Really? Or you can't drink?). Also, no hurricanes are kind of nice.
-
long ago.
-
1) Carol Burnett Show is old school hilarious. 2) So is Laugh In. 3) You can get fully naked in US strip clubs, but it depends on the state.
-
It's fantastic that the TiCats are out of the basement finally... been too long for them. Quinton Porter is a start QB in the making!..... but we still beat you last week :) and I'm with you 800% on the beer thing! Oskee Wee Wee!
-
These are the Daves I know
-
Great old news indeed. KITH were/are freaking hilarious. And while we're talking sketch comedy,Bizarre was great too. And one more thing, in the time I've been reading these talk backs, this is the first one I've read without haters and assholes. Well done people, Kudos! just hope I didn't talk too soon.

gottta get laid, gotta get laid
-
I saw them on their last tour, and despite a few exceptions, they are all a little long in the tooth now. They were still entertaining as hell. Mr. Show is awesome too, actually, I almost passed out a few times laughing my ass off at Mr. Show. Any new material, or projects involving the KITH crew is awesome cool news.
-
But in Detroit, we get CBC as a regular channel! Ha ha!
-
that is all.
