Learn Which Ghostbuster Just Got Called To HEROES!!
I am – Hercules!!
If you were thinking Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd, Annie Potts or even Ric Moranis, you were thinking wrong!
Ernie “Zeddemore” Hudson will play a Baltimore detective named Lubbock on “Heroes.” Probably one in pursuit of somebody with superpowers.
The Hollywood Reporter points out Hudson’s been playing a lot of cops in recent years. Find all of The Reporter’s story on the matter here.

Ernie Hudson is always dependable. Hope he always keeps working!
-
I saw him on some making-of shoot for some Ray Liotta dystopian prisoner movie years ago and he basically said "If somebody calls me up and offers me an acting job, I don't really ask any questions, I just take it."
-
...as the warden on "Oz."
And we're going to spend the whole season watching the cast getting shivved and/or raped by neo-Nazis. -
Don't do it, Ernie. Don't climb the sinking boat that's on fire that's Heroes!
-
Because why else would you join the cast of a corn filled log of a show swirling the drain?
-
was "gotta be Ernie" Ankryod hasn't done TV since Soul Man *shudder* I think, and Ramis and Murray have never really done TV after their movie carrers launched, whereas Ernie has more a history of doing tv and like Mullah said...crap for a paycheck
-
Because GHOSTBUSTERS is the only thing the cunts ever done.
If it were any of the others you would have used a cool character name from the dozens of other movies, or in the case of Harold Ramis, "Russell Ziskey". -

Not hard to figure out since he the only one in shape!
by hollywoodhellraiser
Plus its strange how the guy resume is loaded with good acting and yet he can't get better parts in a movie!
-
Considering they axed 300,000 from each ep, I'm not sure his pay is going to crack the bank.
-
You're a dumbass. Oz, Congo, The Hand That Rocks The Cradle. He's been working solidly for years. Not our fault you don't know what IMDB is.
-
Even the much-lauded first season was total generic crap. They should have done a sitcom and named it "Hiro and Ando". That would have preserved the only cool aspect of the whole shebang.
-
Look no further than BUFFY and ANGEL. In those shows, Joss did a better PHOENIX SAGA and alternate dimension stories than Marvel ever brought to the big or small screen. See DOLLHOUSE for a badass take on DAYS OF FUTURE PAST.
See HEROES for a week ripoff of the aforementioned Marvel storylines. -
and have Adebisi & Schillinger rape them all..
-
Apology for the typing.
-
Oh - was this Dark Willow? Yeah. That was much better. I'd rank Angel as a class superhero style show, and Buffy (up to S5, before they did that crap Phoenix rip-off), but Dollhouse? If you're arguing semantics, 'The Wish' on Buffy was a good Days Of Future Past story. Dollhouse is crap.
-
Just need to vent at how God-awful Buffy S6/S7 were. And how bad Dollhouse is. Say what you will about Heroes, at least it had a good run of episodes before the mainstream deamed it terrible. Dollhouse didn't even get to the end of 101 before it went to shit.
-
A paycheck is a paycheck and since its Heroes Hudson isn't in it for the quality of the writing. He's cashing a check for slumming and more power to him.
-
Good points all around. If it`s not too much of a drag for you, find the unaired thirteenth DOLLHOUSE episode and watch it.
Everybody so far has had an OMG reaction. Watch the show transform in that one episode. Please try, you won`t be disappointed. You`ll go "WHAT THE FRAK?" after the first minute of that episode! -
The first season sucked. Joss' shows take time to find their legs. Exception: FIREFLY. That was awesome from episode one. And also too smart and funny for FOX audiences.
-
....brother. sorry just had to bring back a classic
-
I just watched Ghostbusters about 3 nights ago. The night before that I watched Airheads, and Hudson is in that too. Then, not a day later, I searched for "Realistic Super Mario" on Google (To try and find this picture: http://tinyurl.com/c6t48y) and found a still from a Super Marios TV show with "Special Guest Star Ernie Hudson" and now this.....Something strange is happening. I'm sorry Heroes fans, but you may never see this, because I think I am supposed to kill Ernie Hudson. P.S. Heroes Fans: You're living in denial.
-
My computer started running an automatic virus scan. I'm quite certain it's government-issued. Hudson could be CIA, DEA, ATF....
-
you say YES! Good for Ernie. I have a feeling if there is another GB movie, he would be left out. I hope not. He's seen shit that'll turn you white!
-
I concur. But he's not gonna get rich off a show with constant budget cuts. More power to him for finding work on a network series, mind. It increases his visibility - and as my name suggest, he's awesome.
-
Firefly was brilliant. End of. Angel was 80% genius. S5 kinda stalled for me. Watched Dollhouse 1x13. THAT should've been the Pilot. You could've launched the duelling stories (future and flashback) into a nice show about how humanity went to shit. Makes S1 look even more pointless, as the story Joss wants to tell is all set-up for the good stuff.
-
... in SPACEHUNTER: ADVENTURES IN THE FORBIDDEN ZONE, with Molly Ringwald!
-
That's not racist by the way, Ernie Hudson would be the rubbish one in Shaft Goes To Africa. He's rubbish.
-
WRONG
-
He's rubbish, but watchable in a kitsch kind of way. Like Ron Silver or Patrick Swayze. Chris Pen, Eric Roberts, Eric LaSale, Joshua Jackson, Tim Curry. I'd rather live in an Ernie Hudson world, than an Ernie Hudsonless world.
-
Just got out of bed. Ernie Hudson is pretty damn cool.

If only all AICN disagreements were resolved that easily
by mr. zeddemore
We'd all be living happily.
-
to some he will always be Huck's best friend Jim
-
TAKE IT BACK...not about Ernie Hudson, Zeddemore has that covered...take back what you said about Eric Roberts, Eric Roberts is AWESOME...watch Pope of Greenwich village, great performance in that movie. Eric Roberts makes everything cooler, including that sitcom LESS THEN PERFECT which actually had the double barreled coolness that is Eric Roberts and Patrick Warburton
-
Heroes 308 sucked, but his performance was genius. He looked so giddy to be kicking ass.
-
The Crow, nuff said.
-
Golly, ya know I checked out that IMDB thing you were talking about and it turns out that Ernie Hudson, HAS been working solidly.... Like a .... Solid... uhh.. workman.. Yes, that's what I'd call him too. Like Carl Weathers, perhaps saying he's done nothing was a pretty harsh generalisation."Oz, Congo, The Hand That Rocks The Cradle" yep... You should have left it at OZ, Zeddemore. the rest is garbage. As for the Crow, overrated, but I liked it.Now it wasn't that I was saying "I don't like the dude", far from it, he's simply the GHOSTBUSTER that isnt making a fucking squillion dollars, directing, producing, acting in major hollywood productions, and is therefore the first one I'd expect to pick up a role in HEROES.
PS. Not my fault you had to USE imdb to generate a list of career highlights similar in caliber to Linda Hunts resume.
Thanks for the attention though, I love you too princess. -
So the freaks on this show shouldn't bother him at all.
-
It's not even a word but you already know what I'm getting at.

First name I thought of cos Ernie would be your door mat
by damien chowder
for an ok fee. Ernie Hudson is a poorman's Samuel L Jackson because Samuel L would play a doormat for a purple lightsaber. Hell there is nothing those two won't do.
-
Winston Zeddemore's personal mantra is also Ernie Hudson's. Good for him.
-
I was quite irked when they offed Eric...they should use Claire's magic blood and bring him back
-
He did that show where he and his brothers play golf.Of course I'm pretty sure that was just an excuse to play a bunch of golf...
-
Heroes attracts B-list movie stars like cocaine. Save for Malcolm.
-
with the nerds right now (oh and some of our NBC writers are writing the new Ghostbusters script). Synergy! Oh those genius execs. Too bad Heroes is already done.
-
"I've only been with the company for a couple of weeks, but these things are real. Since I joined these men, I've seen shit that'll turn you white."
I love Ernie Hudson. I'm happy to see him in any project. But I can't go back to Heroes. -
not to be the actor involved, but the part he plays... A Baltimore police detective? Really? So you weren't copying 'Carnivale' enough so you decided to rip off 'The Wire' too, Heroes? Really? You guys gonna have some vampires, mafia men and undertakers on your show next season too? Fuck the fall from grace for this pile of shit has been pathetic. 2006 -> second favorite show I watch (after Lost) 2009 -> worst show I watch.. if I even watch.
-
First guy I thought of was Winston.
"Hey, If theirs a steady paycheck in it, I'll believe in whatever you want me to." (story of my life) -
So every show with a Baltimore cop is ripping off The Wire? Does that mean if a law show is set in NY, that it's ripping off Law & Order?
-
BEST OF THE BEST......."TOMMMMY NOOOO. COACH,COACH, HE'S GONNA KILL EM'"
-
Ernie Hudson: he's dependably good in just about anything, even if he's just slumming for the car payments of kids' braces or what have you.
Kinda like to see him in a buddy movie with Michael Ironside... -
Being a Baltimore detective means they are ripping off the Wire? How dumb can the hating get? I understand the thought process behind the idea "ripping off carnivale" because there will be carinval characters with powers......but even that doesn't mean that the show will be taking Carnivale storylines or using plots or anything. But claiming they are ripping off the wire because a character happens to be from the same area and the same profession as characters on that show is just ridiculous. Find another reason to spew hate.
-
Better watch yourself, begging for a talkback for a cool show in a talkback for a less cool show can get your screen name murdered around here.BTW, yeah, there's a lot of reasons to bash Heroes, but them bringing in a cop from B'more is probably the weakest I've heard so far. I'm happy to see Earnie Hudson in anything.
-
Makes the whole "for a steady paycheck" thing even better.
-
A fucking best of the best reference? Shut down the internets. You, sir, win. I haven't even thought about that flick in ages. Thank you.
-
I loved that show.
-
are you three serious? Do you watch this show? The Heroes aren't going to be contending with a Fed, a Hero hunter or even a super-powered villain, but rather a Baltimore police detective? The series has never even been set in Baltimore, let alone dealt with the Baltimore police... If you don't see, coupled with the Carnivale doubling, the ridiculously outlandish parallel of aiming to up their street cred by copying cable series, then I can understand why you're defending Heroes.... Wanna bet the B'more detective is gritty, a recovering alcoholic and doesn't like to play by the book? Would that be enough for you three?
-
I heard that when they were doing the GB video game, Murray made sure they gave Hudson an equal part to the others. It's sometimes easy to dismiss Murray as thinking he's too cool for some stuff, but if that story's true, you gotta like the guy.
-
I smell a Wire rip off?
Fuck Heroes man, if ever something deserved to be cancelled it's this piece of shit. Cancel the goddamn talkback Herc, it really doesn't deserve one. -
No one else would have taken the shitty paycheck this show would give.
-
Goldblumania!
-
Man, that movie was HORRIBLE! Shitfest 2009!
-
I was like, oh... The Heroes are going to get shrunken down by an evil mad scientist named Zalinski this season.

Heroe's stunt guest casting stopped impressing me near the end o
by _v_
Heroes' stunt guest casting stopped impressing me around the end of season 2....."Hey, lets throw in Nichols but then never bring her back!" Stan Lee, the list goes on.
Well...to be fair, George Takei actually had a meaningful role on the show, as did Christopher Eccleston.
But I'm not impressed anymore....after Bryan Fuller came back only to then LEAVE at the end of last season, all is lost (okay, MAYBE he was there just to step in, set them on the right path, then go on his way; frankly I'd rather see him working on that "USS Yorktown" Star Trek spinoff than busy keeping Heroes on life support.
It was the dawning realization that, like BSG, they didn't really plan things out beyond their first season (well, for BSG, it was the first 2 seasons)
Meanwhile, I must say that I think Hudson would be a good police officer, after his work on Oz as the head of the prison and
***does anyone else remember Hudson as the cop in "The Crow"? -
I just think, "ho ho ho, they be ripping off The Wire cuz there's a Baltimore police officer!!!" is weak until, yes, I see more similarities. The best thing that can happen is if Chris and Snoop show up and start disappearing Hero bodies in some vacants. I hate how shitty this show has become, but continue to download the episodes like a psychopath, doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result (in this case, non-shittyness).
-
Say it ain't so man... Shit. I don't know if I can watch that movie. I did watch Street Fighter:TLOCL, which had me in stitches though... Dragonball doesn't even look "so bad it's good".
-
I turned them down
-
Don't really give a shit about guest roles. Seeing that Malcolm McDowell wanted to keep working on the show and they killed him. They probably didn't let him know he was not going to have a big part because of this whole fucking keept scripts a secert from the cast. Why the fuck does every movie/show feel a need to do that now? Especially something as dumb as Heroes where maybe a little imput from the cast would go a long way. Though seeing that Fuller has his fist up his ass he probably wouldn't care about what Malcolm McDowell has to say anyway. He just read somewhere that geeks like him. I wonder how many e-mails/voice mails a day Shatner gets from this guy.
-
But he has a sense of humor, which is not allowed on the set of Heroes. Also why the fuck is he doing TV? Did he already snort his way through all the JP and ID4 monies?
-
Dragonball was the shittiest shit movie I've seen in ages... I mean, it's HORRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIBLE! HORRIBLE.
-
Was a great move, he made the show worth watching while he was on.
-
...I don't think anyone was under the impression it was Rick Moranis up there, know what I mean?
-
to care about this fucking show? Really? Anyone? It's such a wasted opportunity, and really, it should have been shitcanned after last season. But if there's a reason to watch it, please tell me.
-
"The Heroes aren't going to be contending with a Fed, a Hero hunter or even a super-powered villain, but rather a Baltimore police detective? The series has never even been set in Baltimore, let alone dealt with the Baltimore police..."
Correct. The series hasn't been set in Baltimore. But also keep in mind that we are dealing with a traveling carnival. Meaning they could....I don't know....make a stop in Baltimore? Not really defending heroes much since I know it's gotten worse as time has gone on. I just find it ridiculous to say it's a rip-off of the Wire. I don't see how you can jump to that conclusion so quickly. You're just throwing the "rip-off" accusation out too early and you sound like you're hating on something just for the sake of hating it. A rip-off of the Wire? Are you kidding me? If this casting news also said "and Lubbock will be on the hunt for the drug lords who run the streets while dealing with his political-minded bosses and trying to put stringer bell behind bars" then maybe you'd have a leg to stand on......but declaring it a rip-off of the wire because of the location and job of a minor character is just crazy. -

Re: ST II Blu Ray cover art, WTF? That's Kirk from ST III
by yackbacker
Seriously, fuck these graphic artists and their bullshit "artwork." Photshop isn't art when you copy and paste elements from previous material like this. Just terrible. Fuck Paramount Home Video...
-
WTF?!
-
Fuck Yeah!
-
ok, i guess that's fair... "rip off" was probably the wrong term to use... however i do think that my second post was much more accurate. I feel that they could've picked a police detective from any city... picking a shitty city like Baltimore seems a little fishy to me, on top of the already extremely fishy Carnivale similarities. I guess I should wait to see the product they actually put out, but for me, this casting news was the last of many, many straws breaking the camel's back. I'm not "hating for the sake of hating". In fact, i regularly stayed out of hating posts for this show until Nathan died with Claire standing RIGHT THERE! that was too much... it's an abomination, the producers know it, and they're clinging to critical darlings in a vain attempt to save face. I feel a "Baltimore police detective" is step two of many of these attempts to come... and if you read the other posts, it seems i'm not the only one to see this similarity.
-
As a blank templet each new season. Really not much of what happened in seasons 1 and 2 were really important in 3 save for some of a relationships (like Peter and Profit being brothers). But other then that each new season starts off with all the same fucking heroes trying to figure out how to use their powers and trying to decide if Claire's dad is good or not. I though season 3 was the best actually, because it was the first time they did come out as pussy's. I hope for the next go around they keep that up.
-
True, they could've picked any city. Perhaps there's a reason they picked this one in particular but we won't know until the show airs or we get more info on his character. If there turns out to be no reason at all for picking Baltimore....then perhaps you're better at sniffing out bullshit than me lol. If they pick Baltimore just for the sake of Baltimore....then maybe a writer was just watching the Wire a lot recently (it could happen....Marlo was on last season - that could make someone want to check out a better show that he was on). Too many times on a talkback people just comment based on one or two bits of information and dismiss things without even giving it a chance. Of course, this is different because a lot of people have given Heroes lots of chances. To me it always seems to be getting on the right track, then everything completely changes within a few episodes. Storylines and character's IQs and stuff like that .
Anyway.....I put up with the Carnivale comparisons because it's more substantial. But I wouldn't say it has anything to do with the Wire until I know more.Plus it's Ernie Hudson....he rocks. I'll be taping heroes when it comes back....but my expectations are not high. -
Did anyone think it was someone besides Hudson?!?!?
-
I'm with you, the whole Carnivale / Wire thing seems very fishy to me. I agree that it's too early to be screaming 'rip off', though that was certainly my gut reaction. I guess I just don't trust the writers off this show at all and I'm expecting bad things from them, whether it's crap, unrealistic, inconsistent characters or stealing from far better films, comics and TV shows.
-
I liked that SNL sketch with Mary Gross and - I think - Julia Louis-Dreyfus when Ghostbusters mania was at it's heigh in the '80s. "Which Ghostbuster you like the most?" "I like the black one." "The black one? He din't do nooothing."
-
Another C-list celebrity will help bring your show back into the limelight...NOT! WHy not have Mr. SUlu guest star as well...oh wait...
-
I've watched every episode of this so far but short of trebling the budget, hiring a staff of genuine comic book writers, special effects wizards and charismatic actors there's no fuckin' way I'm going near this shite again.Which doesn't really matter anyway. I hope you Heroes fans aren't expecting a long story arc this series because it's going to be gone by mid-season at the latest.
-
Remember, Bubbles was the cool escapee during the first half of season 3 with the ability to create black holes!
-
I did forget Bubbles. He came and went so fast.....yet was such an interesting character. Wish they woulda done more with him. In fact, I wish they did more with Marlo's character as well. One main problem is that they are force stories on these characters. Characters that people grew to love after the first season. I think they should have stuck with the idea of new characters and their stories every season or whatever that was.
-
I should add that after the first season....the characters got less genuine and more parody....so that's why a lot of people dislike the people they actually used to enjoy. I liked hiro in the first season. Now he's annoying IMO.
-
seeing as how besides bill murray, Ernie Hudson is the only one who is actually acting on a pretty regular basis any more(and even Murray hasnt acted in anything in a while now)

Hudson was in one of the most underrated action films ever
by badmrwonka
"No Escape" with Ray Liotta...search your heart, you know it's true!that movie was a solid sci-fi dystopian near-future movie, on a decent size budget, with some great practical effects and sets. and Liotta did a great job. seriously, put it on your netflix, you probably haven't seen it in 12 years, and it holds up.
-
will Hudson's talent be wasted like John Glover's was last season?
-
...was the film I referred to in post #2. It wasn't a terrible movie, it was simply funny (and memorable) to hear Hudson confess that he'll take any gig he's offered. A bunch of actor friends of mine actually have a lot of appreciation for that attitude and respect his success at getting regular work because it is admittedly tough to earn a living acting. But it still makes me chuckle.
-
Totally forgot those guys co-starred in OZ.
Zeljko Ivanek is still on HEROES, right? Awesome actor. -
Wow, he was in ANOTHER sci fi dystopian future movie. Lord knows why id didn't make money.
-
That's disappointing.
-
you lost me. what's the other one you're referring to.and No Escape made it's money back with the worldwide gross and VHS rentals. it was shot in Australia to save money.
-
to make it, and you're the only one who's heard of it.
-
Gotta put an N-word behind the T-word to get the job done, baby.
-
yeah, it made like $20 mil, I think it did alright...what the hell other movie were you talking about before anyway?
-
you say Yes!!
-
Star Trek II will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, EVER be topped! Especially not by that hack who goes by the initials of "J.J."
-
the freak from the GB2 with the thing for Dana (THERE IS NO DANA ONLY ZU-- wait, what was I saying?)
I think he's actually like Scottish or something? Anyway, I thought of him coz he's such a TV.. erm... presence... right now... -
whichever of you fucks wrote that. Pure awesome. Thnks for playing!
-
Shark Attack when he played crazy Ernie Hudson.

Can't wait for Heroes Season 4!!!!
-
Buffy sucked, don't deny it. Angel wasn't any better. Nothing super hero cool about dumb ass vampire soap-operas.
-
He plays a ghostbuster that gets called in. He was also in Casper.
-
And in many ways, a better fit for the show than the others.
-
in Episode 1 or 2. But at least this season looks like a good one to be involved in. Although it lost Fuller, it is actually rock solid for a change - the characters are almost realistic. They still need to let Hiro grow up though.
