Ok you Twin City AICNers - Here's Your Chance To Enter DISTRICT 9 - for free!!!
Hey folks, Harry here - been heck finding AICN reps that had the time in Minneapolis, Seattle & San Francisco - but the dear Windy (100% attendee of all BNATs) decided to be your hero in Minneapolis. Hopefully I'll have something for you folks in Seattle & SF soon.
Now the screening is Thursday. SO - you need to mail in ASAP! This is a first come first serve sort of dealio!
First the details. The screening is at the Rosedale 14 AMC. There are 294 seats to fill - and this is Thursday, August 13th at 8:15pm!
Now - all you have to do is send an email to Windy at District9Mpls@gmail.com as fast as you can - as Windy needs to pick those 294 folks and get them back to me to let ya know if you're in!

I have kept my mouth shut after the screwjob you guys did on the L.A. people, but now I'm pissed. NOW you announce it's first come, first served...after everyone got screwed from L.A. I wouldn't bitch if Beaks had said the rules from the beginning, but saying "I want to have this fucker filled by tomorrow afternoon" and then delaying the results another day...that just smacks of ineptitude. This was the first time I ever entered for anything on AICN and will definitely be the last. I have no desire to deal with people who don't have their shit together!

Beaks ran into some jokers that were trying to pull a fast one on the LA give away. He was being spammed by some folks that were trying to get every seat with fake names and email addresses - I've spoke with Beaks today regarding the matter - and we will be handling the LA screenings differently from some of the others due to the actions, unfortunately, of a few that acted terribly.
All AICN screenings will always have around 30-40 seats taken by "Friends & Family of the Site" We put on these screenings and go through the work of putting these things on mostly out of a selfish desire to do something cool with the people we love to do cool things with. But the vast majority of the LA Screening is filled with people that Beaks has no idea who are. He will be handling things differently in the future.
Sorry if you feel you were screwed. Get used to it though, because that's how life generally is. -
We rarely get AICN screenings in the Twin Cities, this would be a great one. I made it to the Pineapple Express one too, and that was fantastic.

I do appreciate your response. This is more than anyone else seems to have gotten under the L.A. thread. I have no desire to pull a "fast one" on Mr. Beaks...I was in jury duty the day the posting went up. I saw the posting through my cell phone service and entered as soon as I could.
I'll be the first to admit...I am unemployed and the idea of getting into a movie I have been dying to see without paying was a great opportunity for me...if only because it saves me money. I just don't appreciate the way it was handled and the lack of response thereafter.
Harry, I have been reading you guys since Batman & Robin...this site is part of the reason I left TN and am now pursuing a career in the film industry in CA. I know for a fact that I will be screwed over often! -
Not necessarily - we're working to throw it together quickly. But it may not happen, same with the Seattle one due to conflicts with the people I knew there to run it.

right now - the screening is ever slightly overbooked. You never know what may happen if you show up though. Work the line - see if someone's + 1 disappeared and be them. Only a leap from the Lion's mouth will you prove your worth at this point.

Why doesn't Beaks just come out and address the criticism and put out the fire? I'm sure his explanation would make everyone feel much better. Ignoring them, though, just pisses everyone off more.

I hope you told Beaks that in the future he should not Twitter his followers to hit him back about the tix. Maybe that caused some of the spamming as well? And, maybe he should grow a set.

I sent my e-mail about 20 minutes after this was posted last night. There were no instructions on what information to include in the e-mail or even what to title it. Hopefully what I did worked. Dying to see this movie. Hopefully the list of attendees will be posted soon.

You guys obviously do us a favor every time you offer advance screenings. And I thank you for that. But your explanation to Torchwood7 regarding the LA "spamming" is confusing for me. For instance: I submitted my name along with the same +1 I always give for an AICN screening. He sent in an email with my name as his +1, unaware of my own email activity. Are we now among those that "acted terribly" because we read your site independently and shared our findings afterwards? Every LA AICN screening that I've participated in was first-come first-served. So we all hustle and try to take care of our friends. I want to make sure intentions aren't being misconstrued to retroactively explain a slip up. Spanks.

Right on the mark, Harry. First great movie of what has been a humdrum year so far. First movie this year that I'm looking forward to seeing again and owning on DVD.
