Learn The Latest Funnyman To Join The Cast Of NBC’s PARKS AND RECREATION!!

Published at:  Aug 05, 2009 7:54:40 PM CDT

SPOILER ALERT !!

I am – Hercules!!

Actor-comedian Louis CK has joined the cast of NBC’s “Parks and Recreation,” playing a Pawnee cop and potential love interest for Amy Poehler’s low-level bureaucrat character.

Variety reports he’ll debut in 2.2 and appear in “several” additional episodes.

Like many in the the casts of “Parks” and its Thursday-night partner, “The Office,” CK is a comedy writer as well as performer. A frequent scripter of SNL’s Saturday TV Funhouse segments, CK’s written for “The Late Show With David Letterman” and “Late Night With Conan O’Brien,” and has co-scripted a clutch of Chris Rock projects, among them HBO’s “The Chris Rock Show” and big-screen efforts “Down To Earth,” “Pootie Tang” and “I Think I Love My Wife.”

The role on “Parks” is CK’s first sitcom job since creating and starring in HBO’s short-lived “Lucky Louie.”

New episodes of "Parks" return to NBC Sept. 17.

I thought it was just a 6 episode thing and they ended it ok - the park didn't get built, it never will get built, that's the point of suburban councils. It's an ok show, but I've been enjoying Hung more lately, and nothing comes close to Better Off Ted at the mo.

There seems to be a line of argument that people didn't get Lucky Louie because it was "real." Acutally, I didn't like it because the writing was subpar and Jim Norton couldnt be relied on to be a compelling supporting character.

Louis CK is a universally respected comedian, he's been nominated for Emmy's dozens of times, he's SERIOUSLY funny. fucking people on here just have to be negative to get attention, it's so pathetic.look, if you really don't know Louis CK, here you go:

But that does not mean Louis CK was not on to something there. Sadly, I would hope that he could have found a better venue for his talents than Parks & Recreation. Will he be writing as well as acting?
Perhaps the best we can hope is that this awareness of his talent. I hope he can enter the mainstream without ever becoming mainstream.

I like Parks and Recreation. I agree with one poster who said they should tweak the Poehler character a little bit but overall the supporting cast is really funny IMO.Too many of you posters are contributing NOTHING to this talkback by just talking shit about the show. It's one thing to criticize a show and give valid reasons........but all you pussies who just say "This show sucks" or "Nothing can save this show" without explaining why you think it's so bad are ridiculous. Beg for attention elsewhere. What's the point of posting 5 words just to be negative about a show? Why not try to generate some sort of discussion or make some kind of point.........instead we have 80% or posters just blindly hating almost anything that gets posted here.

This show grew on me throughout the season too. It's much darker than the office, more akin to the British Office. The only misstep was the "lesbian" haircut episode-- I felt like that was a one-note affair that got drug out way too long...

Looking forward to the next season.

    by mjdeviant

over "The Office". I loved Gervais' original the but the American one just has me losing interest the last 3 seasons. I think it's too much "What are Pam and Jim doing?" all the time. I don't know. I love the cast but I just can't get into it anymore. Parks and Rec on the other hand doesn't feel second rate to me because it is at least an original show (well, story-wise, maybe not mockumentary-wise) and I also enjoy the characters.

I love CK, so hopefully this works out for him.

And as someone who mentioned they were hoping for Arnett, there needs to be a show dedicated to GOB Bluth....COME ON!

end up in a crappy job living in a dump raising stupid kids. They can having lowlife neighbors. Then movie the show to Showtime and replace Amy with some black haired chick that looks familiar , dump the rest of the cast for stand up comedians, and up the bad language. is one of the funniest people I've ever seen. I've been to two of his stand-up perfomances, and I laughed shit right out of my ass. His widely seen stuff has been pretty mediocre, though (writing bad Chris Rock movies? Producing an intellectually ambitious but unfunny series? Tiny fogettable cameos in good movies like Role Models?), so I understand the skepticism. But bring it, Louis. Just bring it this time. Make us laugh, clown.

    The internet is weird

    by daggor

It's given people far more confidence than the should have. I always take it as a given that posts in any forum are considered opinion first, fact if... actually fact. But we get people freaking out and trying to prove people wrong, even regarding something as abstract as humor. Nobody really has the right to define what is funny and what is not. Personally, I find Louie CK's standup funny, but don't consider any of those movie scripts as badges of honor. I think the point is that Louie CK isn't recognized by the masses (all the common folk that have to swallow "Parks" to make it successful). He may help the show, but I ain't gonna watch unless the show makes a drastic change.
