Learn The Latest Funnyman To Join The Cast Of NBC’s PARKS AND RECREATION!!
SPOILER ALERT !!
I am – Hercules!!
Actor-comedian Louis CK has joined the cast of NBC’s “Parks and Recreation,” playing a Pawnee cop and potential love interest for Amy Poehler’s low-level bureaucrat character.
Variety reports he’ll debut in 2.2 and appear in “several” additional episodes.
Like many in the the casts of “Parks” and its Thursday-night partner, “The Office,” CK is a comedy writer as well as performer. A frequent scripter of SNL’s Saturday TV Funhouse segments, CK’s written for “The Late Show With David Letterman” and “Late Night With Conan O’Brien,” and has co-scripted a clutch of Chris Rock projects, among them HBO’s “The Chris Rock Show” and big-screen efforts “Down To Earth,” “Pootie Tang” and “I Think I Love My Wife.”
The role on “Parks” is CK’s first sitcom job since creating and starring in HBO’s short-lived “Lucky Louie.”
New episodes of "Parks" return to NBC Sept. 17.

I hope it gets better next year because it has potential, but last year was dreadful.
-
and I'm not sure I ever will. However I do like Louie CK so maybe I'll give it a shot once.
-
I caught most of them and never thought they were very funny or particularly original. Amy Poehler could do way better.
-
Dane Cook will be stealing dialogue straight from this show for his stand up act
-
Film at 11, for all of your needs on "Parks and Recreation", the most disappointing spin-off since The Cleveland Show!
-
Lucky Louie ruled. HBO blew canning that one. Aziz and Louis might have some good chemistry, but the feel of P&R is just off. Move it along, people.
-
It just needs to be tweaked a lot before next season, especially poehlers character.
-
...I doubt it'll make it past the next.
-
LOL! They should hire you to write for this show. I think your wit could save it. "Film at 11." Haw! I haven't laughed like that in a long time. Thanks man!
-
Cuz. I. Did.
-
Louis CK IS a nobody, he's so right! who cares about his comedy specials, and the fact tht's he's written for conan, letterman, etc. ! I mean, he BARELY made Comedy Central's list of the 100 funniest stand-ups of all time! what a nobody!Tall_Boy66 is way funnier than Parks and Rec, and that big fat nobody, Louis CK! hire him!!! he's a somebody!!

Parks and Rec will be declared awesome by the end of next year
by ackack
Just like countless other shows that have been lambasted at first here on the talkbacks.
-
I thought it was just a 6 episode thing and they ended it ok - the park didn't get built, it never will get built, that's the point of suburban councils. It's an ok show, but I've been enjoying Hung more lately, and nothing comes close to Better Off Ted at the mo.
-
Remember how awesome he was in.... uh... you know. That THING! And a comedy central list, too! Hot damn, what an undiscovered genius that we should bow before! Whooo!
-
Yeah, Louis CK, real voice of the generation, ain't he? I'm sure he'll get dozens of more viewers to that NBC show that's on Thursday.
-
just terrible, especially considering all the incredibly talented actors involved. they just need to add equally talented writers. as it is, though, "parks and rec" is merely "the office lite," which itself is now a pretty bad show.
-
i think louis ck must have had sex with tall boy's mom and run over his dog.
-
Hey, we need someone to give this show a shot in the arm! Really step it up and draw in the viewers! Who can we get? Wait, here's somebody who had an HBO show that flopped... people quit watching in droves after the first episode. Yeah, get that guy. That's the ticket! Next Up: How can we make Amy Poehler's character even more like a female version of Michael Scott? Viewers LOVE that!
-
There seems to be a line of argument that people didn't get Lucky Louie because it was "real." Acutally, I didn't like it because the writing was subpar and Jim Norton couldnt be relied on to be a compelling supporting character.
-
just because your dumb ass doesn't know shit about Louis CK, doesn't mean he's a nobody. (who even uses that term, anyway? are we in 1950's Chicago?)
Louis CK is a universally respected comedian, he's been nominated for Emmy's dozens of times, he's SERIOUSLY funny. fucking people on here just have to be negative to get attention, it's so pathetic.look, if you really don't know Louis CK, here you go:

god, only in an AICN talkback is Louis CK not funny, Michel Gondry not talented, Seth Rogen is the devil, and TallBoy is a fucking SOMEBODY!douchebag. -

Hopefully he will not talk about his daughters vagina
by quin the eskimo
Again!
-
But that does not mean Louis CK was not on to something there. Sadly, I would hope that he could have found a better venue for his talents than Parks & Recreation. Will he be writing as well as acting?
Perhaps the best we can hope is that this awareness of his talent. I hope he can enter the mainstream without ever becoming mainstream. -
He makes shocking comments about his children. It was funny for about 5 minutes.
-
To bad he'll be working with Amy Poehler, the weak point of the show. She's plays Michael Scott without the vulnerability.
Hopefully Chris Pratt stays on the show. He and Ansari were the high points. -
The show's got a lot of potential, and as bad as people here are saying it is, it was MILES BETTER than the abysmal first season of The Office.
-
I JUST started watching Louis C.K.'s One Night stand on HBO On Demand 10 minutes ago, randomly, because Mike and Mike are both out this morning, and then I go to my bedroom to check AICN and wham! bam! here's the news. Crazy coincidence. Parks and Rec grew on me over the course of the season. Probably the best supporting cast o any show on TV with Rashida Jones, Paul Schneider, funny people Aubrey Plaza and Aziz Ansari, and now Louis. DAMN!
-
You're talking about a tiny fraction of his material. Why don't you bitch about Geroge Carlin and how he only talked about the weather man? C.K. is funny as hell.
-
Now I'm going to have to watch it...
-
because he actually supported the troops by doing some stuff for the USO...
Read his blog--the man is funny and a somewhat decent human being. I'm ashamed I misspelled his name earlier. -
i might actually check out this show now.
-
I like Parks and Recreation. I agree with one poster who said they should tweak the Poehler character a little bit but overall the supporting cast is really funny IMO.Too many of you posters are contributing NOTHING to this talkback by just talking shit about the show. It's one thing to criticize a show and give valid reasons........but all you pussies who just say "This show sucks" or "Nothing can save this show" without explaining why you think it's so bad are ridiculous. Beg for attention elsewhere. What's the point of posting 5 words just to be negative about a show? Why not try to generate some sort of discussion or make some kind of point.........instead we have 80% or posters just blindly hating almost anything that gets posted here.
-
This show grew on me throughout the season too. It's much darker than the office, more akin to the British Office. The only misstep was the "lesbian" haircut episode-- I felt like that was a one-note affair that got drug out way too long...
Looking forward to the next season. -
Is this still on?...Cancel it already...Lost is better...
-
Look how great it got. You got to give it time, at least another season.
-
The show is terrible.
-
over "The Office". I loved Gervais' original the but the American one just has me losing interest the last 3 seasons. I think it's too much "What are Pam and Jim doing?" all the time. I don't know. I love the cast but I just can't get into it anymore. Parks and Rec on the other hand doesn't feel second rate to me because it is at least an original show (well, story-wise, maybe not mockumentary-wise) and I also enjoy the characters.
I love CK, so hopefully this works out for him.
And as someone who mentioned they were hoping for Arnett, there needs to be a show dedicated to GOB Bluth....COME ON! -
Just one... Andy Dick! Baazing! That may actually be a better joke than anything Parks and Rec could ever conceive... *sigh* Why does this crap get air time.
-
talks about a five year old stretching out her vagina
-
put on that broadcast Indian symbol. Wouldn't mind watching that for thirty minutes instead of this garbage. Heck, better yet give a full thirty of static. More entertaining.
-
But it does have that same kind of non-sitcommy feel that Andy Barker PI did. Instead of writing a sitcom, some of the new generation of comedy folks seem to write clever scripts with clever characters. But they're not sitcoms, IMHO.
-
preferably the life of Gob.
-
Damn, Quinn might really be an Eskimo.
-
end up in a crappy job living in a dump raising stupid kids. They can having lowlife neighbors. Then movie the show to Showtime and replace Amy with some black haired chick that looks familiar , dump the rest of the cast for stand up comedians, and up the bad language. I think they have a winner there, just need to retitle the show to something kinda ironic.
-
is one of the funniest people I've ever seen. I've been to two of his stand-up perfomances, and I laughed shit right out of my ass. His widely seen stuff has been pretty mediocre, though (writing bad Chris Rock movies? Producing an intellectually ambitious but unfunny series? Tiny fogettable cameos in good movies like Role Models?), so I understand the skepticism. But bring it, Louis. Just bring it this time. Make us laugh, clown.
-
this show, on the other hand...
-
are a bunch of itchy assholes. (SUPERFINGER!)
-
If that were an argument for cancelling a TV show, there would be nothing left on television.
-
But The Unusuals takes a bullet. Pushing Daisies is not not alive. Samantha Who is no longer a what.
I don't have the heart to go on with this list. -
Cancelled too early while garbage like Parks and Rec gets renewed, for the sole reason I'm sure, to make me hate NBC even more. Fantastic.
-
He can only take the crappy writing so far.
-
This show sucks because it sucks. Watch it. Sucks. Done. Don't need a 1,000 word ego stroke on the matter. That's what the AICN writers are for. Boom.
-
Everything I've seen about it reeks of suck, but Louis C.K. is probably the funniest comedian around. Decisions decisions.
-
might develop yet. The pieces are there and there is genuine talent involved. It was getting better towards the end of the year. Don't lose heart.
-
Even Phil Hartman (RIP)couldn't save this trainwreck
-
on a short leash. They don't want another net to scoop her up, but to where? ABC's comedies suck except Better Off Ted, and unless she wants to play a wacky single mom she's not on CBS...And neutering Louis K to fit a network series..?? Good luck.
-
has shot a pilot for FX, called "Louie"...how original. FX is looking for a companion for Its Always Sunny. Louis K would seem to be a natural fit, and much better on FX than NBC.
-
It's given people far more confidence than the should have. I always take it as a given that posts in any forum are considered opinion first, fact if... actually fact. But we get people freaking out and trying to prove people wrong, even regarding something as abstract as humor. Nobody really has the right to define what is funny and what is not. Personally, I find Louie CK's standup funny, but don't consider any of those movie scripts as badges of honor. I think the point is that Louie CK isn't recognized by the masses (all the common folk that have to swallow "Parks" to make it successful). He may help the show, but I ain't gonna watch unless the show makes a drastic change.
-
. . . scraping feces out of his infant daughter's vagina. That's comedy gold!
-
Favorite comedian. YES.
-
if they just made it the office spin-off it was supposed to be. i watched the first episode and the fact that it was such an office-type show without actually being a spin-off turned me off from watching it. as a few people already mentioned, all i could think about when watching amy poehler's character was ..jesus, michael scott much? But i am a Louie CK fan. so hopefully he makes a few bucks from this.
-
Funnyman and Louis C.K.??? Gimme a break. He needs to be d-bagged at dbagtodayDOTcom
-
how pathetic can you get? that's the saddest shit I've ever seen...
-
P&R got all the hype but for me Better Off Ted got all the laughs.
caught a couple of episodes of the original Office recently and they really show how far from the mark P&R and a good deal of the American Office are from little Ricky's show. -
