Are You Seeing DISTRICT 9 this Friday at the Alamo Drafthouse South with the Director & Star??!?!?

Published at:  Aug 14, 2009 12:58:09 AM CDT

Hey folks, Harry here and I have to tell y'all... This ticket giveaway may be one of the top giveaways I've done. I received 1282 emails, requesting somewhere over 2500 seats for DISTRICT 9. Well, I only have 220 seats to giveaway... so that means a whole bunch of disappointed folks. But at the same time, it makes me hopeful that this, the most badass film of the summer, might find its audience! These first 25 names are friends & family at AICN - they have guaranteed seats. Here they are...

Harry Knowles
Patricia Knowles
Jay Knowles
Dannie Knowles+2
Gordon Jones + 1
Rebecca Elliott + 1
Marcus Owens
Roland Denoie
Christopher Cargil + 1
Eric Vespe + 1
JJ Weber
Diana De La Torre
Dshanya Reese
Brian Satterwhite

And here are the at large winners! Please arrive early to get a seat! I had to overbook a bit to guarantee a full house for the screening. So - if you want to get in, get there early! This movie is so going to fucking blow you away - can't wait to see it with all of you! Showtime is 8pm, this Friday!!! Put extra superglue on your skullcap!

It's fucking fantastic. See y'all there!!!

What kind of time paradox allowed people who sent in emails after you did to get and exclude you? I've always kinda thought that Harry's pretty arbitrary about who he puts on these lists. You seem to be confirming my suspicions. Thoughts, anyone?

I live like 10 minutes from the Alamo Drafthouse. I frequently see Harry (in his wheelchair) and Yoko at the Best Buy on Research Blvd, and we'd often talk up a storm about gluclose levels and the dangers of liposuction. Yet he still ignored my email. Why Harry? WHY?

    DISTRICT 9 Is A Masterpiece

    by vwantsrevenge

Shaky cam like CLOVERFIELD? Not even fucking close. Maybe if you're in the first three rows, but it never once was a factor. This movie is a masterpiece. I felt very much the same way I did after watching THE MATRIX for the first time. The game just got changed.

And what an astonishing performance by Sharlto Copely. If you're lucky enough to get Neill and Sharlto, the Q&A was very long and very informative. This is the best sci-fi film I've seen since SUNSHINE (burn me on that I'm sure) and maybe one of the best EVER. Fuck GI JOE and all the love that POS is getting. See a real movie. See this.

    by jshanw

Saw it last night at The Alamo...what a flick. No name stars, high calliber performances. The most original thing I've seen in awhile. If there's anything negative to be said, it's that there's just not enough! It leaves holes, but not in a negative way...just leaves you wanting more. Easily the most intersting and thought provoking sci-fi film in a good long while. Thanks for the screening Big Red.

If you're going to have a private screening, someone please write a damn review. We've now waited 3 days for something. This site is starting to get a reputation for being very slow. Just ask anyone who looked to this site for Comic Con coverage. Pick it up.

    COMIC CON

    by vwantsrevenge

Wow dude, I'm sorry if you came here for that. This site is terrible with updates of that nature, and maybe updates period. I had aicn top on my film section in my browser, but now it's 4th behind HitFix, Latino Review and CHUD. Harry just doesn't care much about the people who got him where he is. He really only cares about where he's going and his "friends". I don't even know why they use the stupid nicknames anymore. Everyone knows who the hell they are. It's kinda stupid now.
