A glimpse at the trailer for THE LOVELY BONES hits the intertubes!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a little look at the THE LOVELY BONES trailer, which is supposed to be attached to JULIE & JULIA this weekend. Entertainment Tonight has the glimpse of moving footage, which looks beautiful even if it has usual ET inane drivel talking over it. They seem to think the murdered girl is "hunting her killer from beyond the grave." Um. No, not really.
But whatever, it looks sharp and I love the fantasy world Jackson is creating for Susie's heaven. And if you read the book I think you'll know I'm not talking out of my ass when I say that Susan Sarandon has a great part. There might be some gold for her coming next year if it comes off as well as I think it will.
Anyway, here's the glimpse of footage. I imagine the full trailer will hit in the next few days. Keep your eye out for that!

Like fuck she did.

How many different alias are you going to use? Geez. We get it; you're antisocial and obsessive.
The movie looked good, but it just made me hate ET even more. -
I sense some good vibrations from this trailer...
-
...the whole seeing things from Heaven as they unfold plot device.
-
acting like they split the atom getting a glimpse of a trailer like 5 minutes before it's gonna be everywhere online. and the "hunting her killer from beyond the grave"...fucking hell, this was a bestseller, didn't ONE copy editor on their staff read it and raise their hand when Cruella was doing her voiceover? so idiotic.
-
"Hey goat. Come and see my new movie about some dead chick. Say 'Hi' to your mother for me."
-
Suffice to say, I'm not a fan.But wait... Marky Mark? That'd be hilarious if he actually said "Say hi to your mutha for me" in this.
-
You understand.
-
I'm beginning to think he finished the LOTR movies in less time. I understand they wanted to wait until it was closer to awards season but this is seriously ridiculous. This movie should have been out a year ago.
-
I mean damn, like to blow your own horn do you?
-
The movie looks like THAT!? I had no idea it was going to be so stylized. I don't know why I didn't, being Peter Jackson and all. Man. Even with Mark Wahlberg, I'll still see it.
-
and still nobody asking him when there will be one. I mean, come on. Could have asked him in Quints interview or Harry could have too, instead of asking about tom arnolds stupid lie that nobody takes serious anyway.
Come on James, throw us a bone here. The entire world can't attend comic con. -
Shit, he's all, listening to Grizzly Bear and the Dirty Projectors and he saw too many banner ads for American Apparel which turned him into a pederast.
-
Didn't know what all the hubbub was about. This might actually be a case of the movie being better.
-
Avatar trailer will debut on Friday August 21st. The same day that 15 minutes of footage will be available for free in selected 3D and IMAX theaters. C'mon, get with the program.
-
what was it, 4 years ago now? But looking back on it it was pretty twee and sacharine. Also even then I hated the weird and creepy ending with the dead girl swapping souls with that other girl for like a day or two and the girl she swapped with becomes some kind of teacher in heaven? Whilst the 13 year old girl fucks the guy she fancied who is now a grown up? Bit fucking bizarre.

that is all

SARANDON LOOKS BETTER AT 62 THEN MEGAN FOX OR LINDSAY LOHAN....
by carlthormark1978
Who are both in their 20's and look beat when they don't have a truck load of makeup on.
-
From what I've read the whole body swapping thing at the end of the novel, which yes, is a bit creepy, is not in the film. Jackson excised it from the story. That was the right move, as it nearly ruined the book.
-
but I don't remember a ship busting out of a bottle?! Agreed that this could be better than the boring, mushy book
-
But if you lined up Fox, Lohan, and Sarandon naked in front of me, Time Robbins wouldn't have a thing to worry about.

Geez, why not just say "SHE SEEKS VENGEANCE!!!" Dorks.

I just love it when reporters get a slice of the facts and run with it. It's so embarrassing.
-
. . . w/out getting so pissed that Gosling got the boot & Marky Mark, of all fucking "actors", got the part. Can't stand it!!!!
-
My precious...
-
on acid.seriously.And, that is one sad, fucked up film!
-
We suck.
-
At sucking ass.
-
Doesn't get enough exposure IMHO.
-
Marky Mark's hair makes it very difficult for me to take him serious in this film. A fat Ryan Gosling would have been preferable.
-
i hope peter jackson can spin gold from the shit this book was full of. really, just a terribly written book. the story itself has potential, so i'm reserving judgement until it comes out.
-
Proclaiming themselves as #1 every chance they get. WHO. GIVE. A. SHIT. I used to love that show. Back in like, 1993. Then around 1997, they started getting shitty. I gave it up completely in 2000. Now its hardly watchable. Too much gossipy bullshit. Not enough real movie news.
-
Wahlberg in it. This could be a problem.
-
Damn you ET ! Damn you to hell !
-
Sarandon is a movie killer anyway
-
Funny I should come across this trailer today because I saw Susan Sarandon walking on the street here in NYC yesterday. Even without make up she looks hot and is in better shape than Hilton or Lohan.
-
they handled the script perfectly, the murder scene was deleted tho.
-
no thanks. I'd rather gouge my eyeballs out with a spork.
-
that monster rack....is she still a Milf or a Gilf now?
-
It reminds of those periodic cultural transmissions (be they books, movies, recordings, etc) that somehow catch fire in critical circles and then everyone's afraid to opine that they really aren't that good for fear of looking or sounding the fool. There were some moderately engaging parts but the author's style was completely stiff and off-putting, and her characters and scenes simply not believable. There were multiple instances where I said to myself that I just could not buy real people behaving the way they behaved in this book. And maybe he'll pull it off somehow, but the casting of Mark Wahlberg seems like one of those ideas that's so laughably wrong-headed that you're tempted to think this film's creators are very self-destructive people and secretly want it to fail. I know it's Peter Jackson and all but I'll pass.
-
Of the movie is beautiful. I'm a little worried seeing Marky Mark but the visuals looks really nice. I like the lead for the film, I wish Tim Burton hired her to play Alice for his film
-
The little amount of footage that's availible in that ET teaser did not inspire confidence. I'm a great admirer of Mr. Jackson, but I just don't know what to make of what I just saw. I watched it five times just to be certain it wasn't something I ate. There seemed to be some very obvious, crude and clumsy CG in this. The photography did not strike me as atmospheric or sensorial. What Dreams May Come's visual representation was much more impressive than what was seen in that litle clip. From that slight glimpse, my initial thought is that M. Night Shyamalan would have been a better choice (seeing as it's set in Pennsylvania and deals with a spiritual thematic). Or even better yet, someone like Scott Hicks, Peter Weir or Ang Lee. Hope I'm wrong about this though, perhaps the full trailer will turn me around from my inaugural sense of disappointment (finger's croossed). But why pray tell exactly is the guy that hates on Avatar and James Cameron leaping to be first so he can say "Looks good"? I mean really, you think this looks better than what Avatar will? Very suspect, you are.
-
Grown-ups don't understand why this little girl is toast...
-
Hoping it was, though. Still looks pretty good.
-
And have enough CG characters to fuck your eyes?
-
its true
-
I saw an early screening at the end of April. What a terrible representation of such a good movie. Aint that the way trailers are...
-
...let's wait until the full trailer. I felt the same way you did, but ET is notorious for picking bad shots in these promos. I will say that the one shot of the ship coming out of the bottle was impressive.
-
facepalm from this clip. Can't wait to unleash it somewhere. Booyah!
-
from a pporly cut, logo riddled terrible voice over abortion of a tease.
judge away on a full trailer but to judge this is ridiculous -

Often even a full trailer can be a travesty in representation of a very fine film. I agree with you as well about the ship shot, that was quite nice. I just wish I could have been blown away by the first images. You really do have to see a film in it's entirity before you can really judge anything, so good call buddy.

Okay I just watched the entire trailer, looks pretty good.
by the_genteel_gentile
Still not in love with how the afterlife is being depicted, reminds me of the end of Contact (visually...as in blue screen CG). I do really like the look of the real world stuff, it feels right. Probably too much plot was divulged for a first look teaser, and the music went into overkill toward the end, but that's a marketing complaint. Speaking of Music, anyone have the scoop on who's doing the score for this? I'd vote James Newton Howard, but maybe this is a little too similar to his previous work like Sixth Sense and Stir Of Echoes. I could see someone like Mychael Danna doing a nice score as well. Or maybe Jackson intends to make nice with Howard Shore again, no doubt he'd do justice to the film.
-
Brian Eno is doing the score, I'm pretty sure (or at least original music). Should be great. Really like the looks of this full trailer, I waited so that the ET people wouldn't piss me off. Wish we could have seen more Wahlberg though, so my fears could be eased at least a bit.
-
If that's true I just got a whole lot more interested in this.
-
child rape at Christmas? : no thanks.
-
ridiculous heaven sequences, child mutilation and going against AVATAR.... you need to retire Peter.
-
very average made for TV content and predicatable lugubrious direction splattered with big out of place effects shots, (thanks to the LOTR artists). The big question: is he ever going to become a fat hobbit again ? everyone "loves" it when he pretends to be Tolkien.... but the real Peter Jackson, appears with schlock horror, cartoon murder, blood splattering, unwatched dull pseudo-documentaries, real life political backstabbing and now child mutilation..... will audiences "love" this movie AT CHRISTMAS TIME ?
-
I so hate shithouse trailers that show just about the whole movie.
