Capone has the Winners' Names for the Chicago DISTRICT 9 screening!!!

Published at:  Aug 01, 2009 11:55:32 PM CDT

Hey everyone. Capone in Chicago here, with the list of winners for tickets to see the Chicago screening of DISTRICT 9 on Wednesday, August 5 at 8:00 pm. Those who entered and won will receive an email from me shortly with the details on the time and place of the screening. If you entered this contest and your name is on the list, but you did not receive an email, let me know and I'll get you the details.

Just so you know, we had more than 500 entries for this contest (representing about 1,000 seat requests) for a theater that has a little more than 300 seats. So you aren't the only one who didn't win, trust me. We could have filled this theater three times over, but that's what makes these events so special. But don't fret we've got a few more things lined up for August.

For those who DID win, please be advised that the screening is slightly overbooked to make sure we have a full house for our guests, so if you want a good seat, get there early. And don't forget that we'll be having a post-screening Q&A with DISTRICT 9 director Neill Blomkamp and lead actor Sharlto Copley.

Here are the lucky winners…

I was skeptical about this until I heard the buzz from Comic Con. Looking forward to it now!

    Plus a Q&A? Awesome. You're the man.

By the way, is anyone going to the Tarantino Q&A/tribute/screening of Inglourious Basterds in Chicago a couple of weeks from now?

    Halo is shit.

    by quamb

First game was fun and epic. Second game not so much. Third game boring.
The creatures are like fraggles. Story line a convoluted mess. Design repetitve.
You guys are far too forgiving because the mutiplayer side of things got better with each sequel... not so with the story/single player.
Even the Halo short film this guy did wasn't that impressive.
There are far better sci fi books, manga, anime and video games that could be adapted into films then Halo.

    DISTRICT 9 (SPOILERS)

    by zombieheathledger

This was posted on io9.com and they are crediting the Hollywood Reporter with these details. I don't know if it's correct or not but it sounds like it could be. SPOILERS AHEAD. You have been warned.

    District 9:

This is a "very original chase movie," about aliens who landed 20 years ago, their ship out of fuel — though it still hovers, dead, over the city 20 years later. The aliens have been forced into makeshift camps, and they need a black substance to fuel their ship and their sophisticated weapons. You need alien DNA to operate those weapons, but a Nigerian underworld boss named Obesandjo buys them all up anyway, for cat food, which the aliens love. A private company, Multinational United (MNU) is put in charge of the aliens, and decides to relocate them to a rural camp, a task it assigns to "by-the-book wimp" Wikus, a field operative.

Wikus delivers eviction notices, and comes across an alien lab run by an alien named Christopher Johnson. Wikus gets infected with an alien virus that changes his DNA, and he grows an alien claw for a hand. The claw can operate that alien machinery and weaponry, and he becomes the "most valuable business artifact on Earth." Wikus' own father in law decides to harvest his organs. The MNU starts chasing after Wikus, who flees, and his main pursuer is the film's villain, Koobus. Also chasing Wikus is Nigerian gangster Obesandjo, who wants to eat Wikus' alien arm. Wikus hides out with Christopher and his son, and it turns out that virus is actually a substance Christopher was developing for the past two years to refuel the mothership so the aliens can get home.

    by zombieheathledger

You have the option to read or not to read dipshit. I've been coming to this site for over ten years and it's preciself FOR this kind of information. It still doesn't reveal the ending you prick and given that it was already posted at another site AND the Hollywood Reporter I'm hardly giving anything away that's not available via a google search. God, you're a fucking worthless over-opinionated turd on this site.

ZombieHeath - now that sounds more interesting!

    by juansanchez

They should be getting more of that across in the ads. At least convey the chase movie aspect of it and show some more action/effects.

Capone, if you have any contact with the filmakers/distributor..

    by juansanchez

Give them some advice on the ad campaign, man. As it is the film does not look exciting enough. People are comparing it to Children of Men - well, let's not forget that Children of Men did not do well. It didn't even recoup its production budget. If there really is cool shit in this movie - they can't afford to sit on all of it.

i travelled from albuquerque to chicago today just for the chance of seeing this movie on wednesday. now i don't get selected, while some people with the same last name get picked individually. i'm looking at you Burr, Davis, Downing, Miller, Peterson, and Van Slee. and especially you Capone.

You obvioiusly don't get this site or that putting 'spoiler' in the banner AND the article gives poeple the OPTION of knowing or not knowing and as you can see by JuanSanchez' post, he (and I'm sure others like him) appreciated my post. No one appreciates your b.s. Bit I get you now. You posting your own name in your banner speaks volumes about you. Add that to your ubiquitous bullshit posts all day every day to this site show that you are just looking for attention. Kill yourself, Locke, you add nothing, no one will miss you. This will be my last post to you, you worthless dickhead. You won't get any more attention from me and I encourage the other posters here to do the same. You're like a bad headache, if we just ignore you maybe you will go away.

I'm impressed by your enthusiasm, but coming to Chicago from Albuquerque to for a free screening (which you probably weren't going to get into- just based on odds alone) was stupid. Seriously. I didn't get selected, and neither did any of my friends, but at least I have the dignity to bitch about it in private.
