The Kurgan and Pig Vomit look to be close adding their voices to the Fincher produced GOON movie!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here fresh from the Convention Center after my walkabout today. I spent the day shopping, picking up some movie posters (got an ABOMINABLE DR. PHIBES half-sheet, inserts for AND NOW THE SCREAMING STARTS and ASYLUM and one-sheets for DEMONS, THE BEAST MUST DIE and THE IPCRESS FILE if you give a crap), some Con exclusives and the like. Thank God for Sunday, the only day I can actually enjoy the floor.
But unlike that lazy ass Jehovah I also did some work on Sunday. Fun work, no doubt, but I stumbled upon Mr. Eric Powell, Goon creator and crazy-talented and funny artist. We talked about the Goon panel, which I couldn't make yesterday. They showed something from the animated movie, which I couldn't see because I was lame and didn't make the panel, but Powell did share the revelation of voice casting.
While the contracts aren't signed, both actors are attached and have already contributed voicework to test footage.
The Goon is going to be Clancy Brown... The Kurgan! Hell yeah! That's actually perfect casting right there. I'm a big Clancy Brown fan... he shoulda been Sabertooth.
And Frankie is going to be none other than Paul Giamatti, yet more perfect casting. I can already hear him screaming "KNIFE TO THE EYE!!!"

Supposedly we're getting more announcements soon (maybe a director finally?). I'll keep you guys abreast of what I hear.

yay. goon.. great.
-
Am I the only one who thought of Howard when the word "Pig Vomit" went by?
-
then i declare third! (turd)
-
Dammit
-
Dammit
-
was on this afternoon!..(such good memories)
-
What's he going to be now, Sabertooths dad? Did you even see him on ER like 5 years ago? Dude's a little long in the tooth..
-
or did TF2 steal from the Goon? I'm not familiar with the property
-
Now I need a 5 minute break and then i'll be ready to go again.
-
Looking forward to this one.
-
this is cool casting indeed.
-
I will die inside. Whats the goddamn hold-up? They have David Fincher on board, they have an animation studio on board, and they have it cast perfectly....why cant this movie come out next summer???? I WANNA SEE IT NOW!!!!!!!
-
after the above pic and another a few months back? I dig Krugan..but I always had Goon as more of a South Boston type of guy. And I'm from SNY!
-
Great, great stuff. With all the shit that gets re-made, here are two that are grade A creepy. Especially PHIBES, both I and II with the wind up orchestra, the Egyptian influences-it was just a surrealistic nightmare that smoked any 80's slasher horror icon. As for ASYLUM, I remember parts, but I seem to recall a certain little windup man and a looong sharp object...
-
David Fincher is involved. Nothing more needs to be said-it will be fantastic. I know zip about THE GOON, but I have seen Finchers work and he has never dissaponted me. He's alot like Michael Mann, but without one dog in the bunch.
-
..good call on Phibes and Asylum..classic Hammer..good stuff
-
about how they miss the important parts of panels because they're buying shit?
Who cares what swag you're taking home?
-
Both choices are great. I always pictured Buscemi for Franky, but Giammatti is 99% as good. I imagine that the Zombie Priest will be the villain, but I would love to see Stephen COlbert as Dr. Alloy.
-
Revolutionary photo real epic masterpiece the next Star Wars
-
Please don't compare the two. Fincher is way too good to be compared to that crap. I used to like Mann. But other than The Insider and Last of the Mohicans his movies have been tiresome. Mostly consisting of two actors staring at each other very angrily whilst giving monologues. Oh and add some Moby or Soundgarden. Fincher made the masterpiece "Zodiac" something Mann hasn't done yet. Although The Insider was damn close.
-
I had no idea it was animated. And who gives a shit about mo-cap, really? It's fucken lame, look at any Pixar film and tell me if we even need mo-cap. They keyed out all of Edward Norton's mo-cap work on Hulk cause get this, it looked shit.
-
Giamatti played Pig Vomit in the howard stern movie.
-
Like fuck she did.
-
the roles he could play today if he were 20 years younger. It was fucked when carnivale got canceled. clancey and the rest of that cast had one hell of a show going, sad.
-
...but for THE GOON, I like it as well.

QUINT!!!! You get a 10 for referring to Giammati as Pig Vomit
by YackBacker
Ive maintained that nickname for him ever since PRIVATE PARTS among my circle of film-geek pals. They give me shit for holding onto that moniker, but sure enough, you're the same kind of guy. I hope you had a blast at Comic Con.
-
..Panic Room. Just kinda "meh"
-
It is such a great fun comic book. I recommend you torrent some issues if your too lazy to go to a comicshop and buy some. This is going to be an awesome movie. As long as the comedic timing and shenanegans occur as much and as FAST as the comics pacing, this is going to be a great fucking movie.
-
When I read the comic I totally imagined him. Well, a much more perverted Paul
-
Not even a cursory mention of what it's about.
The readers shouldn't have to look up the subject of the article they're reading.
-
When Nolan rips off your movie for TDK, you can be sure your movie is a certifiable classic.
-
That's a rare thing in a Talkback. But Clancy deserves it.
-
The Metalocalypse/Goon crossover yet? I got it, I don't read Goon, though I've been meaning to.
-
...colossal waste of fucking time! Fuck this shit off and start making REAL movies.
-
I can't not see him as that. W NNNN BC. I thought he was kind of a douche actor then I saw him on Kimmel and he was really funny, admitting that he had no idea what he was saying on John Adams, I thought he was turning into a PSH. He mentioned a movie about a boy who couldn't stop farting, some Blimy flick I looked it up, its called Thunderpants. I almost rented it, then I noticed that it stared that feces of an actor Rupert Grint.
-
for network TV, or are they all just too fucking stupid to realize how awesome and universally loved he is?
-
Mr. Krabs, Lex Luthor...the man is a voice acting legend as well as a tv/movie legend.
-
Skeletons! Dancing! It's up his alley!!!
-
...looks very underwhelming.
-
Oh boy, I can't wait for this to come out. I've recently in the past year became a fan of Eric Powell's beloved character.
-
On Spongebob? Gotta look that up.
-
no funding for the movie yet...too bad

What is this garbage? Another movie based on a game?
by JackPumpkinhead
That screenshot seems to say so. Don't they know any better? Leave those things to Uwe.
-
They are indeed great movies but they ain't Hammer films. Amicus and AIP if I recall?
-
Think you've made a friend for life Quint.
-
My mind boggles!!! Quint made that coment? In God's Ass Kissing America? Unreal!! Man, i just got a new found respect for ol' Quint! Professional!!
-
Yuck yuck yuck . . .
-
...of THE WORLD'S FASTEST HOBO: http://tinyurl.com/kkhb3u THE GOON is pretty cool, but he's no HOBO.
-
That's a heck of a role to be typecast for, ya know?
-
That would be nice.
-
Gangbanger way back when.
-
Absolutely nothing to do with the topic but still a relevant and honest statement.
-
Team Fortress 2. Sort of.
-
God rested on Saturday, not Sunday, idiot. Sunday is the "Lord's Day," to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Sunday.
-
No movie or TV show version came close to his cold, smug, threatening voice.
-
It was Saturday that that "lazy ass Jehovah," decided he needed a rest. Sunday is the first day of the week and was changed by the Roman Catholic Church to fool everybody into working on the Sabbath, those fuckers!
-
i stand corrected..you,sir,ok in my book..we should be friends..brandy and cigars while we discuss..
-
I just read the crossover this weekend. Eric Powell was kind enough to sign my copies at ComiCon. It's good, goofy stuff. If you like it, check out The Goon: Satan's Butt Baby if you can find a copy. Anyhting that freaks out the Christian right has got to be endorsed.
-
I forget which one it is.
Either way, it has no redeeming social value whatsoever. Which is why I liked it.
-
...He Says Kill!
-
I love THE GOON. Can't wait. Hopefully they'll get a ringer to direct. The Kurgan as Goon is inspired casting. I can see Giamatti as Franky too. He's got to sound weasily yet obnoxious at the same time. Giamatti definitely's got that down. Too bad Del Toro kinda booked up. GOON is very Lovecraftian. Wonder if Bird would be up for something like this.
-
in a sneak attack. That soda trick only works once. I'd love a Bad Boys 2 only to see Viking beat the crap out of the so full of himself Penn.
-
My experience with The Goon is very limited when compared to other comics properties, but then, I could say the same about Hellboy and I enjoyed the hell out of those movies.
-
I think I do a pretty good Wallace Greenslade, myself. And my Eccles isn't so bad either. Shut up, shut up Eccles! Are we talking about the same movie?
