The Kurgan and Pig Vomit look to be close adding their voices to the Fincher produced GOON movie!

Published at:  Jul 26, 2009 9:56:51 PM CDT

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here fresh from the Convention Center after my walkabout today. I spent the day shopping, picking up some movie posters (got an ABOMINABLE DR. PHIBES half-sheet, inserts for AND NOW THE SCREAMING STARTS and ASYLUM and one-sheets for DEMONS, THE BEAST MUST DIE and THE IPCRESS FILE if you give a crap), some Con exclusives and the like. Thank God for Sunday, the only day I can actually enjoy the floor.

But unlike that lazy ass Jehovah I also did some work on Sunday. Fun work, no doubt, but I stumbled upon Mr. Eric Powell, Goon creator and crazy-talented and funny artist. We talked about the Goon panel, which I couldn't make yesterday. They showed something from the animated movie, which I couldn't see because I was lame and didn't make the panel, but Powell did share the revelation of voice casting.

While the contracts aren't signed, both actors are attached and have already contributed voicework to test footage.

The Goon is going to be Clancy Brown... The Kurgan! Hell yeah! That's actually perfect casting right there. I'm a big Clancy Brown fan... he shoulda been Sabertooth.

And Frankie is going to be none other than Paul Giamatti, yet more perfect casting. I can already hear him screaming "KNIFE TO THE EYE!!!"

Supposedly we're getting more announcements soon (maybe a director finally?). I'll keep you guys abreast of what I hear.

    DR. PHIBES and ASYLUM

    by uberman

Great, great stuff. With all the shit that gets re-made, here are two that are grade A creepy. Especially PHIBES, both I and II with the wind up orchestra, the Egyptian influences-it was just a surrealistic nightmare that smoked any 80's slasher horror icon. As for ASYLUM, I remember parts, but I seem to recall a certain little windup man and a looong sharp object...

    by uberman

David Fincher is involved. Nothing more needs to be said-it will be fantastic. I know zip about THE GOON, but I have seen Finchers work and he has never dissaponted me. He's alot like Michael Mann, but without one dog in the bunch.

    by thewaqman

Please don't compare the two. Fincher is way too good to be compared to that crap. I used to like Mann. But other than The Insider and Last of the Mohicans his movies have been tiresome. Mostly consisting of two actors staring at each other very angrily whilst giving monologues. Oh and add some Moby or Soundgarden. Fincher made the masterpiece "Zodiac" something Mann hasn't done yet. Although The Insider was damn close.

I can't not see him as that. W NNNN BC. I thought he was kind of a douche actor then I saw him on Kimmel and he was really funny, admitting that he had no idea what he was saying on John Adams, I thought he was turning into a PSH. He mentioned a movie about a boy who couldn't stop farting, some Blimy flick I looked it up, its called Thunderpants. I almost rented it, then I noticed that it stared that feces of an actor Rupert Grint.

I love THE GOON. Can't wait. Hopefully they'll get a ringer to direct. The Kurgan as Goon is inspired casting. I can see Giamatti as Franky too. He's got to sound weasily yet obnoxious at the same time. Giamatti definitely's got that down. Too bad Del Toro kinda booked up. GOON is very Lovecraftian. Wonder if Bird would be up for something like this.
