UPDATED WITH VIDEO!! Comic Con: CHUCK To Be Like DC’s Hour Man??

Published at:  Jul 28, 2009 12:44:25 AM CDT

SPOILER ALERT !!

I am – Hercules!!

The Hollywood Reporter’s James Hibberd reports from Saturday morning’s “Chuck” panel that the title character’s new Intersec superpowers will have limits:

"The Chuck-fu ... he can't just know kung fu all the time, otherwise his handlers are obsolete," says star Zachary Levi. "So our very talented and wise creators, they've structured it so the powers have a window, a shelf life, there's a glitch in the system ... I have my powers, but they don't necessarily last -- that's the secret."

Find all of Hibberd’s story on the panel here.

This is a bad backpedal after

    by setesh

a stupid "plot twist". They ran out of ideas and now it's gonna be crap.

My god. Pointless vitriol over inconsequential bullshit media IS cathartic. I'm gonna be a hater now. Much more fun.

    PORN STAR NAMED "HOUR MAN"

    by mullah omar

Sadly, many dudes would consider 60 minutes of performance far beyond their powers.

    This show...

    by pessimusgrime

...is still on the air? And now he has super-powers? Maybe Chuck can now cross over to Heroes and the resultant singularity of suckage will pull every last vestige of both shows completely out of existence. We can only hope.

interesting, i thought the obvious way...

    by lex romero

...would be to have him only able to have one "ability" turned on at a time. So say he needs to know how to diffuse a bomb for a mission, he can have that info, but that means he can't have the kung fu knowledge at the same time.

I was worried at first but I'm starting to love the potential. I'm thinking it could be like a live action, grown up Joe 90.

They need to ditch the powers altogether

    by throwmetheidol

His appeal was being non-powerful, with being virtually ordinary other than this one problem with the cia info in his head. I don't care how awkward it would be to drop it but they should anyway.

    Chuck knowing Kuncg Fu =

    by grando

Jumping the shark. The show, as good as it was, was growing stale. The creators, not expecting a 3rd season threw the dice hard and now find themselves in a corner. They need to write themsleves out of the corner, without going back to to the "flash of the week" that dogged the second season.

I predicted this would be the case

    by razorback

5 seconds after the episode ended. I had a feeling that they were going for a Greatest American Hero thing. Should be cool. But did anyone see Yvonne? Australia has been good to her. She looks AMAAAAAZING.

Sounds more like Dial H for Hero

    by hst666

As I understand it, the abilities he gets will not be the same each time and their utility may not be immediately apparent. Unless, I am misinformed, which I could very well be.

Question is, can they make it look believable?

    by dasaroo

'cause the "Chuck-fu" looked like total ass in that season finale. Truly laughable- not in the good way.

Whatever- as long as Strahovski remains employed. She is a ripe, ripe peach I would love to sink my teeth into... her juices running down my chin...

    oops, gotta go

    by spud mcspud

I'd like a piece of her downhome country peach pie, mmmm yes I would. She's fucking gorgeous.

    by abysstare

... if the bride of Frankenstein was like, super HOT!

lol... sorry, I saw all the slobbering posts and just couldn't resist a tiny baiting in the heading. She is insanely hot though, I'll give it to you.

Also, the show is fantastic, and only gets better. The final few episodes of last season were absolutely tremendous. I'm looking forward to more.

They need him around to make things interesting. The truly interesting episodes are episodes that have him in it.

    Meh.

    by scrivener

That sounds sort of goofy. I figured the third season would focus on Chuck training to be a real spy and harness his powers (which he can't really control, as we've seen). It would let the writers narrow the scope of the show (hence, meet the now drastically-slashed budget) while keeping the core characters and themes, and moving story forward. Also, "Chuck Goes to Langley" would just be cool.

    by gls350

they said that while Yvonne and Baldwin will still be his handlers, they sort of become his mentors this season as well, so there will definitely be some sort of honing of his abilities as a spy which should be interesting. Also, while Yvonne looks great from about 100ft away where I was sitting, she was later down on the Comic-Con floor signing autographs at the WB booth, and let me tell you that she is absolutely stunning from 3 feet away as well (mumbles about the line being too long and not being able to get her autograph...bah).

Chuck "knowing kung fu" is not jumping the shark

    by jonquixote

It's pretty much the logical progression of the conceit - the intersect moving him forward into spy realm. I just wish it didn't look so awkward on screen.

    What I'd like to know

    by the mcpoyle clan

is how the budget cuts are going to manifest themselves? More rotation among the cast? Fewer guests stars? Fewer location shots? I can't imagine Subway is giving that much financial support. Speaking of sandwiches, I'd like a Sarah/Ellie combo.

Oh, I do want one of those T-shirts. I adore Chuck, it's all the funny supporting characters that make this show so much fun.
