There's A JERICHO Panel At SDCC This Year?? Yes, There Is...

Published at:  Jul 24, 2009 10:26:59 AM CDT

Merrick here...

Even thought we haven't heard much from the franchise recently, there are still plenty of JERICHO fans out (myself included) there waiting to see our nation plunged into full scale Civil War, so I thought I'd pass along this somewhat overlooked little detail about an event happening in San Diego, tonight.

On Friday, July 24th from 5:00-6:00 pm Jericho star Lennie James, producers Dan Shotz, Karim Zreik, Jon Steinberg, show writer Robert Levine, and Devil's Due Publishing (DDP) President Josh Blaylock will be on hand to discuss the "3rd Season" of the fan-favorite series in its new comic book format. The debut of the comic book series - Jericho: Season 3: Civil War -- will pick up where the television program left off, answering many questions for its passionate fans. The first issue of the comic book is scheduled for an October release and will be a six issue miniseries from DDP and the show's original creators and producers. Known as an "Ashcan" by comic collectors, DDP is currently at work on a black and white mini-comic giving an advanced sneak peek into the comic, which will become available for $5 but limited to 500 copies. Room 7AB.

If anyone out there will be in attendance & wants to send more information about this, or if the CBS Consumer Products folks wanna get in touch about developing further coverage for the upcoming titles, CONSIDER ME INTERESTED!

Actually there are so many douchbags who would say FIRST (and probably get it wrong anyway), yeah, you deserve the virtual cookie. :)

Want to see the nation erupt into civil war?

    by v'shael

I guess you haven't been watching the television recently. It's coming...

There's enough red-staters who maintain Obama is some kind of Kenyan born manchurian candidate in league with the Muslims, to abort all your fetuses, steal your guns, raise taxes, and teach people about EVIL-ution.

They have guns. They talk openly of secession. And the lone nut jobs aren't satisfied with shooting up churches any more.

this is the best we're going to get...

    by jjwalrus

Unfortunately. I think all of us would love to see a Jericho season 3 with a nice fat budget but this is all we're going to get. Lot's of shows are cancelled without any type of resolution even close to what we got from season 2 or now this incarnation in comic form.

I agree with you that we're not all that far from Civil War. It's not just Obama but lots of people feel like the Federal Government is too powerful... that our votes are a joke... that the deck is completely stacked... that our Republic is dying. Yeah, Jericho does hit a little too close to home which is maybe why it never found a mass audience.

and it's not just those who you would consider to be crazy red-staters that are fed up. Lots of people are disgusted with our government and the direction we're headed. I'm not talking just about Obama but from the former administration as well. If the economy continues to nosedive, who knows what will happen...

You're right. I mean, look at what happened to Firefly :o\ I liked Serenity (by itself) and all, but as the conclusion of a beloved story it fell far short.

the nature of economics screws up TV shows...

    by jjwalrus

If the tv show is really popular or valuable it will get dragged on longer then it should (E.R., Smallville), if it's not popular or profitable enough it gets cancelled early, with the writers having either no time or a very short amount of time to resolve the series. It's pretty rare for a series to leave at just the right time. For example what the network is doing with LOST is unheard of.

    by starwarsredux

Fuck. "Buffy"'s Season Nine (or whatever the hell it is) goes on for years, but we'll only be getting six fucking months' worth of "Jericho". I'm pissed. I'll buy it, but I'm pissed.

    Dollhouse: Season 3

    by henry fool

I must admit I like this Buffy trend of starting comic book series where the TV series ended. I'd love to read a Pushing Daisies comic. I'm watching Jericho on XBOX/Netflix right now. If I get into it, I'd definitely consider picking up the graphic novel when the collection gets released (I just don't have room to buy comics).

Rome, Deadwood and Carnivale are two more I'd love to see get turned into comics. Fuck HBO for letting so many good series go to the grave without proper finales. Rome got a good, if rushed, sendoff but Deadwood and Carnivale fans really got screwed.

It's a miracle we're getting a second season of Dollhouse. I'm keeping my fingers crosse for a third but, if not, I hope Joss keeps it going in book format. I love the Buffy comic almost as much as the series.

    why only six issues?

    by jjwalrus

well it's possible that's all the story that they have left but... what's more likely is that they don't exactly know how much in sales this comic is going to do. So they can't exactly commit to any more issues beyond that. I'm sure they have plans beyond 6 but then again they had plans for more then just 1 and 1/2 seasons!
