NBC’s LIFE-Giver To Pen New Big-Screen TWILIGHT ZONE!!
I am – Hercules!!
Rand Ravich, writer-director of “The Astronaut’s Wife” and creator of NBC’s short-lived zen detective series “Life,” has been hired by Warner Bros. and Leonardo DiCaprio to pen a new big-screen “Twilight Zone” movie.
The movie DiCaprio has in mind won’t deal with multiple stories as the movie directed by Steven Spielberg, George Miller, John Landis and Joe Dante did a quarter-century ago. It would transform one episode into one movie. Or maybe two episodes into two movies.
Longtime AICN readers know I am a nut for the old Rod Serling anthology (which I hope gets a Blu-ray edition soon) – but I was not a fan of “Astronaut’s” nor of what I saw of “Life,” so my expectations for this long-brewing project remain muted.
My excitement level would jump from a 2 to a 5, though, if I learned a role were being tailored for Albert Brooks.

This is a monumentally bad idea. They got lucky with that first Twilight Zone movie. Lots of great talent involved. But this ...
-
I'm sure Vic Morrow felt he got very lucky with the first TZ movie. What, too soon?
-
so i can be the first to mention M. Night Shamalamalmamaamma. just rename his movies "twilight zone: the village", "twilight zone: the lady in the water", etc.. and they would all seem much more watchable.
-
How about something original for a change? Or have all the writers run out of ideas?
-
Bring on the animatronic Burgess Meredith please!
-
That's just the way we think about The Twilight Zone in movie form. Plus then you get more concepts in one package, which is true to the Twilight Zone -- it wasn't just one scenario, it was a new one with each show. That's what made it special. And if they really wanted to make this kick-ass in the concept/writing department, they'd request 30 page specs from top writers and up and comers (maybe a contest for one of the segments, open to the public?) and choose only the best!
-
It is entertaing, but very much a product of the 1980s (which may be reason to love it). The Movie was more about visual inventiveness than about the possibilites of using science fiction/fantasy as fable. But "The Twilight Zone: The Original Series" is pure 1960's dread and moral ambivalence. One of the greatest, most thoughtful series in the history of television, if not one of the pinnacles of the small screen. Serling came out of that atmosphere of the studio playhouses, the type of TV that gave us "Days of Wine and Roses." We haven't had that type of network TV in some time now. It was the right show at the right time. Sort of like Norman Lear's network comedies in the 1970s. The issue in "The Twilight Zone" were perfectly attuned to their era, the pressing needs of their time. When adapted now, they come off very differently - not because the story is flawed, but because the passion of the creative forces behind it are MUCH DIFFERENT. It was real terror they referenced, not just horror show antics, not just the bizarre. Closest thing in movie form I would say would be Frankenheimer's "Seconds." That said, I am looking forward to how Richard Kelly adapts "The Box." We might be in for something special (though, the trailer at this point is far too hodge podge -
it is severely schizophrenic in its needs to GET YOU - the movie going public - TO THE THEATRES!!). It looks like at a full run time it will have the type of build "The Twilight Zone" was known for. A series that hits you where you are most serious And get this, kids in high school still read Serling's scripting of "The Monsters Have Arrived on Maple Street." All that said, my father's favourite episode is still the entirely pun-centered, "To Serve Man." So you know, all tastes, nations, and creeds. It was a great mix though, but you knew where the creator's hearts were. -
It would be more interesting to see a film about the life of Rod Serling and the genesis of the series. They could shoot it in black and white, like ED WOOD and GOODNIGHT AND GOOD LUCK. They'd just have to find the right actor to play Serling. But every attempt to recapture the magic of THE TWILIGHT ZONE itself, while sometimes still fun, has always fallen short.
-
I always feel bad that someone had 2 die so the crappy Twilight Zone movie could be made. I feel the same way about XXX. This is probably a bad idea.
-
Seriously people have been ripping it off left and right for years. So making another movie at this point is kinda funny. It's like they don't even want to pretend to be remotely original. Let's just list our favorite TZ episodes instead. Mine are "The Midnight Sun", "Number 12 Looks Just Like You", "Spur of the Moment" and "Mirror Image".
-
This has a lot of potential since Twilight Zone at its best was a vehicle for thoughtful, wild material. Think they should shoot for an anthology format, though.

Bringing in Pegg and Frost- they could have played it as a straight thriller- but like the original series, there was a light-hearted zaniness to it all. I'm with Herc thus far- muted enthusiasm.
-
It had some pretty dark shit in there... and a lot of POINT BREAK references too... what a lovely movie. Anyway, keep us updated.

Voltron movie will have more heart than Shitformers 2 hahaha
by trannyformers_apologist
World Events’ Ted Koplar, another producer on the project, compared it to Transformers, saying that “unlike other robotic action movies, ‘Voltron’ is the personification of the human spirit, a quality that will set this movie apart.”
-
No matter how many times they wipe it, it just keeps on drippin'
-
To pay proper homage to the original it should be a fucking group of short films. One story for Twilight Zone? Sounds lame shit already
-
did they learn nothing from the last movie, or the attempt to bring the show back to tv without serling, there is no show or movie
-
Which is pretty much 90% of what Hollywood funds nowadays. Gotta look at it from the business perspective lately- studios have as hard a time as any industry raising capital. with the credit crunch, you'll see less "risk-taking" going on- lots more adaptations/remakes are on the way (if that's even possible, right?). If a studio owns a property already, they will exploit it instead of optioning something from an outside source.

THE TWILIGHT ZONE = GREATEST TV SHOW EVER!!!FACT!!!
by charlesthomasmathews1978
If you love The Twilight Zone then Marc Scott Zicree’s Twilight Zone Companion is absolutely essential as it is the definitive tome on my most beloved show. I would also highly recommend watching the documentary Rod Serling : Submitted for Your Approval, a fantastic overview of Mr. Serling’s life and The Twilight Zone but also an inside look into what is known as the Golden Age of Television. As for another update, the thing to remember that beyond the twist endings, the best stories of The Twilight Zone were morality tales that spoke about the human condition and the fear of the unknown. I have a soft spot for The Twilight Zone Movie and it’s a damn tragedy what happened. The best segments are, of course, It’s a Good Life and the masterpiece that is Terror at 20,000 Feet. Spielberg’s Kick the Can is sickenly sentimental while John Landis’ story isn’t bad but feels more like something out of Night Gallery. If they do another update then there are two possibilities, an anthology or a one off movie with a singular plotline. I would prefer the anthology approach providing that the stories were original, tightly constructed morality tales with a nice twist. Doing a one off has the problem of trying to tell a long story with one big twist at the end and after a decade of M. Night Shyamalan films I’m kind of tired of that approach. If you could find a tale that was as good as, say, Miracle Mile (a movie who’s story was considered for a segment in the original Twilight Zone feature film) then I wouldn’t be as apprehensive about this project.
-
Were people all retarded in the 60's? How could anyone not see that coming?!?!
-
TZ TOS is too awesome. Shit sakes Rod Serling was a WW2 vet and drew from a lot from his war time experiences... One rare episode I saw that starred George Takei from Star Trek was a direct examination of War Time experience.Despite the odd exception here and there. I not a big fan of any of the TZ remakes. Largely because the morality dealt with in the modern takes is usually cheesy and cliche.Aside from hiring a writer who has some experience in the human condition where the purist form of morality is forced to manifest itself, I have to say my enthusiasm is definitely muted.

landosystem, I SECOND THE MOTION FOR A NEW CREEPSHOW....
by charlesthomasmathews1978
The first Creepshow is my favorite movie by George A. Romero. It's not as groundbreaking as Night of the Living Dead or Dawn of the Dead but I think it’s his true masterpiece. Creepshow 2 wasn’t bad but the segments were too long and it didn’t have either the score or the style of the first. The less said about that piece of shit Creepshow 3 the better. Creepshow was Romeros biggest hit and he should have made some sequels as it would have provided him with a franchise. I blame Richard P. Rubinstein, Romero’s producing partner at the time, who was more interested in using Romero’s name to establish a nice little company for himself (Laurel Entertainment) while pushing George into doing Tales from the Darkside for the syndication revenue rather then Creepshow sequels. That fucking rat Rubinstein even sold the rights to Dawn of the Dead which is why we got that fucking terrible remake in 2004.
-
feature length remake of a Twilight Zone episode...
-
A single "episode" movie is just that; a movie. You could call it anything. "Night Gallery the Movie," "Tales from the Darkside the Movie," "Monsters! the Movie." Or "Eye of the Beholder the Movie." You NEED it to be multi-part to make it Twilight Zonish. Unless they do something lame like slap another narrator on it and another rehash of the TZ credits. We've seen three of those already with the movie and two remakes. (And in fairness, the 80s TZ opening is tres creepy.)
-
I'm so super excited about having the chance to buy the same thing over and over and over again!!!!! Maybe I'm cynical but isn't this how the record industry died? ?

MAKE IT A RETRO STYLE ANTHOLOGY, HEAR ME OUT...
by charlesthomasmathews1978
Rather then updating, why not make a black & white anthology in the same style as the original show? That is, do it from the point of view from the 1950’s and set it in that era. Retro style it so that everything looks and feels like it was made for 1950’s television and movies from the clothes and the sets to the aliens and the spaceships. Adapt those great short stories that Serling wanted to but couldn’t because financial and technical restrictions. Based on what can be done today I can’t imagine that the make-up or visual effects would cost all that much considering that they’d be done in black & white. Just look at what Robert Rodriguez did with Sin City and he shot that almost completely on greenscreen. Seriously, black & white 1950’s style Twilight Zone anthology FTW!!!FACT!!!
-
Period.
-
for shits and giggles as an ode to old times.
-
looks like it was grounded-out by the in-house morons operating the Sci-Fi Channel. CREEPSHOW was fueled by A-Team marketing but the vignettes were less unnerving than an average episode of ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK?.
-
(sorry for the double post)
...could to justice to TZ. Serling's TZ has a timeless quality that seems to have kept it relevant all these years. Episodes like "Dust" and "Five Characters in Search of an Exit" still have beauty and power (of course I still love old movies... the MTV/video gaming generation probably would miss out on it). I do agree that none of the attempts to update it thus far have been successful but that's because they failed to tap into the spirit Sterling gave to the show that has made it timeless. I'm not really looking forward to this version though... I think making it one story a feature is a bad idea. The anthology approach of the 80's movie was the right approach, but the execution was off the mark. The 80's TV series had it's moments but very much seems part of the era. And the latest UPN series was a complete failure. The problem is the approach shouldn't be to modernize or update it, but recapture exactly what made the original series so great, which doesn't need updating. -
With a helicopter.
-
My God, wouldn't it be great if a TZ movie would work? Wouldn't it be fantastic if a TZ movie worked as well or in the same way as the original series? For real, let's think about this. Perhaps those stupid fucks in the ivory towered studio of Hollywood, those dumb cocksuckers that only recognize an original idea by how fast they shit-can it; well, they're going to make this movie. Why don't we stay positive here and help the morons out by telling them how to make it work? First of all, what made Twilight Zone work in the first place? Well, it wasn;t afraid to play on the fears of the public of the era it was made in. Nuclear war, aliens, salvation, death, and hell. These were all ideas that Serling toyed with on a regular basis and it worked because of the social mindset of the 60's in America. We live in a different world now and different things visit our nightmares. Sure, the devil and hell still haunt us but the new Twilight Zone would have to echo our social consciousness. Most importantly, the ideas and segments would have to be ORIGINAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The last movie and the last two attempts to put the show back on television made the incredibly obtuse mistake of just remaking old episodes with new actors. This can't work, as numb as we all are to the obscene remake craze in Hollywood right now, shouldn;t it be something wlike Twilight Zone to stay away from it. My God, the name, despite all the efforts to crush it, still has integrity with all of us. That is due, mostly in part, to Rod Serling. I think the only way that Rod would give his blessing for this and support it is if we got completely new stories, stories of our time, under the TZ umbrella. This can be done. Should they be episodic movies like the movie from the 80's or a feature-length episode? I think it can go both ways. Perhaps a James Bond type series of movies, some featuring only one episode and others two episodes segueing seamlessly into one another. Think of tarantino and Rodriguez' transition in From Dusk Till Dawn on how to do this. You would have to get talented and enthusiastic directors and writers. Keep Spielberg, Lucas, and the rest of the burned-out, white washed directors away. Recruit a Del Toro or a Shamalamdingdong. Ladies and gentleman, if this is handled properly and with respect, it could be a franchise worth getting behind and supporting. Unfortunately, this won't happen and we'll get a retread of the same old classic episodes that have been redone two or three times before with B-list actors and C-list directors. But right now, right this second, at this point in time when development is just starting, let's pause to think of how good this could be. This could be a franchise worthy of 30 years fo great films. Hollywood could take this idea and put it in the hands of real talent. Twilight Zone could be Twilight Zone again....or it will suck.
-
blah.
-
The films could be 90 minute stand alone episodes or two or three segments that seamlessly segue into one another. Think of how Tarantino and Rodriguez did it in From Dusk Till Dawn as an example. Which brings me to another point. Get talented directors to bring in real actors, not J. Crew models, and load their guns with quality scripts written by real screenwriters who wouldn't touch a remake. If done right, this could turn into a 30 year franchise like James Bond or Star Trek. You have to bring in the heavy hitters. Go get a Del Toro or even a Sahmalamadingdong to direct one. Keep Lucas and Spielberg away for God's sakes. Like I said, if these fuckers want to make a TZ movie, they're going to make one. Let's take a few moments to reflect an think about what it could be....aww fuck it, it'll just make it more dissapointing when it sucks.
-
But it got pretty generic after a while. Too bad. Damian Lewis is cool.
-
I know his output lately has been ass, but I think part of the reason is because people go to his movies expecting the twist. And twists are less effective if you have too long of a running time which is spent trying to figure the twist out. If he directed a movie like this with shorter stories, it could work to his advantage...
-
Each TZ "episode" in the film should be lensed by a different director who would give their own spin on the series. For example, I read a recent interview with JJ Abrams where he indicated TZ was his favorite television show and he was always incredulous toward other directors who had a crack at it. If you get him, Del Toro, and a few more folks who really know sci-fi/ fantasy filmmaking, it might work. Also, as homage to the original movie, you'd have to include an opening and closing with Akroyd's "want to see something really scary?" bit.
-
So the one story idea is a good one. Who is a head tripper writer out there?Mmmm.
-
They weren't bad, but never took off, and I don't think that either lasted more than one and a half seasons. The first reboot in the 80s had Bruce Willis in the first episode, and a theme redone by The Grateful Dead. Bruce Willis was still David Addison, not John McClane at that time. The next reboot, with Forrest Whitaker as the host, had some decent episodes. The best which was a continuation episode starring Bill Mumy and his real life daughter as the grown up now with a kid tiny terror. Damn, that episode is classic, but I can't for the life of me remember the name of the original. That too was one the four episodes remade for the first movie.
-
the box office. It is one of the worst movies ever.
-
but I'm fine with someone taking another crack at TZ. Unfortunately, it's impossible to duplicate the black and white nightmarishness of the original but I don't mind someone taking a crack at it.
-
The 3rd season episode of "Lost" called "Exposé". It technically had nothing to do with "The Twilight Zone", but the episodes structure and plot twist ending (that bordered on fucked up) made it the best homage of "The Twilight Zone" I have seen on TV in years.
-
You mean the one where they killed off Nikki and Paulo? Yes that was a great episode, as well as being an incredibly funny nod to the die hard fans who hated the idea of Nikki and Paulo being in the background the whole time and then suddenly becoming visible.

I Have The Coolest Idea For A New Take On Twilight Zone

Can't mention it here as am not being paid...and things can get stolen, but you can't do a successful Twilight Zone without Sterling...and no, my idea is not what you think, but it successfully solves all the issues that deal with his absence, and or, past attempts to replace him, which you just can't do.

Should be doing this. As a TV show on Showtime.
-
Except the only real good parts were the prologue and the Nightmare at 20,000 ft. I'd rather see four different directors do four different stories instead of one story.
-
Except instead of a German who has to get killed each night by a U-Boat he blew up, it could be John Landis having to have a helicoptor crash on him for eternity because of an overzelous director screaming "Lower! Lower!"
-
Turn the color off on your set and Twilight Zone: The Movie is quite a different flick. Watching Twilight Zone in color is like watching a scary movie with the lights on - it just kills the effect somehow.

Makes Movie out of the tv show FRIDAY the 13th:the series

“Lewis Vendredi made a deal with the devil to sell cursed antiques. But he broke the pact, and it cost him his soul. Now, his niece Micki, and her cousin Ryan have inherited the store... and with it, the curse. Now they must get everything back and the real terror begins.” -- prologue that opened each episode
It was very 80's but had a cool concept. I remember the first season not being quite enjoyable but then again I haven't seen it twenty years. But the concept is still goog. -

The half hour Zones were always better than the hour long Zones
by skimn
The Zones were basically little morality plays, or plots that had a "gotcha".."to serve man..ITS A COOKBOOK!".."(Burgess Meredith) it's not fair, it's not fair"..the space invaders are actually US astronauts..and so on. I think a better idea would have a big screen Outer Limits. But Outer Limits never had the following, in part because of the genius of Rod Serling. His presence made each episode feel more like a "tale", which after all, they were.
-
Concept is still "good" not "goog."
-
Exactly the episode. A lot of people hated it, but I thought it had a good sense of humor about itself. And it had a lot of nice twists to established stories. I like how these two characters everyone despised were pretty much apart of every major event on the show but in the background. And the buried alive ending was pretty cool. It made you somewhat sympathize with them then they died a fucked up death by being buried alive.
-
And yes...this *must* be an anthology movie. Four half-hour segments (with Maurice LaMarche doing his Rod Serling impression from those "Scary Door" segments on Futurama). Get fout top-notch fantasy/horror directors and DON'T REMAKE EPISODES OF THE ORIGINAL SERIES! That was really the problem with the 80's movie...why take a show that depended of final "twists" and then remake three episodes that were already familiar to most viewers of the show? Hell, get some of the unproduced screenplays from the series, dust 'em off, and get cracking. Richard Matheson's "The Doll" was originally going to be a TZ episode, but it didn't get made until Spielberg produced it for Amazing Stories (and that was a great episode).
-
The effects that make the devil grow horns in the ending, (where the film is cut so that it looks odd and skips as the horns grow) used to creep me out as a kid.
-
Truly, that ride at Disney World is the ONLY spinoff of the classic show that is worth shit. It's brilliant. And what about Rod Serling? He's so iconic that he still has a presence on TV, even if it's a parody or mimicry. If he's not in this film, it's not Twilight Zone. I have spoken.
-
the best comments, and well derserved, but don't take away from Joe Dante's. His use of color, lighting, and of course, Jerry Goldsmith's score, were ideal.
-
That show had the potential to last years. Every week a different cursed object, the store, Ryan, Micki and Jack. What a show and one of the first horror shows to have a regular cast, rather than an anthology show. Loved it!
-
so many films are already Twilight Zone episodes. You should do an anthology with all the stories connected. Perhaps have the same minor background character in each story who can then talk to the audience. But then do a twist where the storyteller gets involved without meaning to. Make it meta.
-
Watch your head!!!!
-
IN THE SUN!? It HAS to if they are gonna reference Twilight in it! I CAN'T WAIT I'M SWOONING RIGHT NOW someone give me a towel.
-
It's actually Earth, and they're actually toys, aliens, or dead.
-
I've read an Outer Limits movie is being developed, or was. By default, I don't have high hopes for it. I have more of an attachment to the B&W series than to the color one. I wonder if the theatrical version will have some analog to "There is nothing wrong with your television set"?
-
For the record, the gremlin episode is "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" and the Billy Mumy episode is "It's a Good Life."
And I've always thought of the original PLANET OF THE APES (scripted by Serling) as the ultimate Twilight Zone movie. (Think about it; it's basically the biggest, most expensive TZ episode ever made--complete with a classic TZ twist ending.) -
You know, as much as I love Twilight Zone, the missing element will ALWAYS be Rod Serling and EVERY version of TZ that gets attempted without him will suffer because of it.
Rod Serling IS The Twilight Zone. -
funny this is coming out at the same time that i'm watching the original episodes. I recently completed getting all the excellent box sets that Image has done a great job on, and figure hey, everything's reruns right now anyway so why not go through em all? Seasons 2-3 of the 80s are on order with Amazon but there's a delay at their warehouse and i won't be getting it untill the end of the month (as long as i get em, fuckers. i'm a completist what can i say) and the fact that ellison comments on his scripts is all i need to know. I also have Night Gallery on order as well. Not as good as Zone but they have their moments as well such as tim rileys bar, pickmans model, little black bag. As to the original, although i'm much more of a fan of the original Outer Limits (and yea, harlan, i know that the first season was horror with science fiction overtones but i don't care), Twilight Zones still holds up. So far the only two that put me to sleep (as i'm going through season 2 at the moment) were Nightmare as a Child and this one shot on videotape that took place at a car dealership. But other than that, alot of the episodes still hold up. Oh, and by the way, Richard Matheson is, and always will be, one of the best writers out there. If he's still kickin, he has to come on board the new movie (i think his son collaborates with him these days.) My favs still: Eye of the Beholder, To Serve Man, I shot an arrow,Nightmare at 20,000 feet, Walking Distance, pretty much all of Mathisons scripts like the one where this guy's whole life is on a soundstage, another one where a playwright congures up people out of thin air, the last flight, etc. really just too many to name. Oh, and from the 80s version (all the ell man's of course) and Alan Brennerts "Her Pilgram Soul", one of the best hour-longs i've ever seen (at least untill Farscape, Battlestar:Galavtica and Lost came on)
-
Matheson is still alive and kicking, at the ripe old age of 83. He attended the Horror Writers of America awards ceremony just a few weeks ago.

Love Twilight Zone, but would rather see a movie with 4 of the best NIGHT GALLERY episodes. When that show had good episodes, it was really, really creepy. MAKE IT SO, HOLLYWOOD.
-
That was the only good segment of the movie. When Ackroyd asked Brooks: "You wanna see sumthin' really scary?" He should have pulled out a VHS copy of Caddyshack 2.
-
for Twilight Zone: The Movie. One of the many movies to scare the shit out of me growing up.
-
LMAO!
No shit... -
It is indeed the best television series of all time, bar none, and Rod Serling is a personal hero of mine. However, this newest iteration sounds uninspired at best. But if I had to suggest a single story to remake, I'd say "And When the Sky Was Opened", with Rod Taylor. One of the earliest episodes, one of the best, and a perfect example of what the Twilight Zone does best. A good second story for a companion piece, if they do make two films, would be "Stopover in a Quiet Town"...
-
"There is nothing wrong with your theater. The sticky floor, cell phone ringing, text messaging, babies crying and smell of urine is the fault of your theater manager, who could give a rats ass."
-
Make it so.
-
Loved that show. Second season was an amped up more entertaining step up. It was showing against Lost though. I don't think that helped viewership. Sad to see it go. Just sayin'.
This movie has a chance, but I agree with others that M. Night has been doing this already and the new Kelly movie IS this, just without the heading: Twilight Zone. That being said, there's no reason this couldn't be a great fun movie. All the involved talent and premise we know about has that kind of potential.
Way early to guess, though. -
If they're going to reamp something, they should go for Kolchak. There's not as much room for disappointment as Kolchak lives on in our memories more for the promise of the show than the actual short-lived delivery. I know they tried to put it back on T.V. a few years ago, but it was horrible. Kolchak dealt with demons and shit, really room for some scary storytelling there. I also remember the Friday the 13th series. I was a little kid and that shit scared the fuck out of me. It WAS a great premise with lots of room for growth,. However, I just recently caught a few episodes on SciFi and if any of you remember it the way I do as being fucking creepy...leave it to your memory. What a hunk of velveeta, it's bad. Worse than Tales From the Darkside which also used to scare the shit out of me. I still think a Twilight Zone series of films could work if handled properly and add to the legacy of the orignal run of television. As good as episodes like The Howling Man are, you have got to go with original stories though.
-
With the Richard Kelly movie? The Box? Is that not a Twilight Zone presents film?
-
What's wrong with multiple stories?
-
Remember the Amicus and Hammer films of the sixties and early seventies..Dr. Terror's House Of Horrors, Tales That Witness Madness, Tales From The Crypt, etc. Nowadays if it doesn't appeal to a wide audience, then forget it.
-
...but the ep with Shatner becoming obsessed with the fortune telling robot is pretty sweet. Oh, and the Lee Marvin boxer ep is badass as well.
-
I just watched 'American Werewolf in London' last night, for the first time since I was about five. What an amazing, awesome, hilarious movie. And the transformation scene...my god! Dammit, who gives a shit about Vic Morrow anyway? (Apologies to family and friends, of course.)
-
I guess Jennifer Jason Leigh can scratch you off their Xmas card list.
-
that horror. but hollywood sticks together so we knew that wasn't gonna happen!
-
He's her daddy, yeah? Forgot about that. Oh, well, its not like she was all about jumping on my cock or anything. That WAS uncalled for, but I am fucking hungover like hell and not really functioning properly.
-
Nuff said!
-
The original Twilight Zone was so great because of Serling's style and the black and white format. Of course the stories were great, but even when they recycle the stories it's never as good (see Twilight Zone: The Movie).
-
...Up to this moment I had agreed with just about everything you have said Herc... 'til now. No love for an Ex-Con Detective's with a love of Zen, fruit, accountants, revenge, and quite rage boiling beneath it all (just look at his snarl turning away from the guards in the pilot or throat chop in series final)...
-
...sucks.
-
oh wait, he can't be involved!
-
I used to love the Twilight Zone as a pre-teen... it was actually a very comforting show for me for some reason. It has a timeless magic. Now, with the outlined parameters of the DiCaprio project, I am mainly cold to this idea. A Twilight Zone movie should be creepy as hell, anthological, and timeless. Rod Serling's corpse should fucking scare the shit out of you as he intoduces you to the strange reality of the Twilight Zone. David Lynch sometimes approaches timeless creepy with his movies, though I've fallen out of synch with him as of late. Drag Me To Hell almost has the simplistic morality twist of a TZ episode, at the end... LOL!

are inhibiting the current culture. Maybe they can thaw out Disney and re-imagine more public domain material and re-claim them for their coffers. But even Disney never woke up in the morning thinking "what can *I* prevent *today*?" Shit makes me want to download a movie and share it.
-
FYI: the ep with Shatner and the fortune-telling machine was "Nick of Time."
By Matheson, of course. -
Great ep., glad someone brought it up. I want one of those napkin holders.
-
"There's a gremlin destroying the plane! You've gotta believe me!"Why should I believe you? You're Hitler!
-
why wont they run this on tv? Twilight Zone is being run on like 20 different channels ffs. i liked LIMITS since it was more about scifi and monsters, whereas TZ was more about fate and chance n shit. TZ is great an all but where's the variety?
-
They tried this a couple years ago. The show tanked.
-
let's continue to dig!
-
...anthology series was Spielberg's AMAZING STORIES. That series was great, including the Spielberg directed pilot starring a young Kevin Costner as, well, a pilot.
-
...of Amazing Stories was 'Ghost Train'. 'The Mission' was a few episodes in.
-
Man, talk about failed promise. How do you go from like 15 or so brilliantly written episodes to crappy tv-movies and a psycho follow-up? I would have capitalized on something like that big-time!
-
you seem to be referring to are not trying to "prevent" anything except the theft of other people's intellectual property. It's about making sure the writers get paid when their work is reused, or borrowed, or stolen, or whatever you want to call it.
-
I know, I mentioned it in my post. What I was saying is a Kolchak movie with an R Rating and no-holds-barred attitude could do some damage to our senses if handled properly. The Twilight Zone just comes with so much builtin expectation that it would be nearly impossible to please those of us that would truly want to love it. Kolchak on the other hand already has a built-in prelude, yet not as much to have to live up to
