Capone reviews HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE!!!
Hey everyone. Capone in Chicago here.
One of the many great joys of watching the sixth, and most deeply satisfying, installment in the HARRY POTTER film series is watching returning director David Yates and screenwriter Steve Kloves beef up characters whose roles (in the movies, at least) have been soundly in the background up to this point. I liked watching members of the Weasley finally be brought to the foreground in anticipation of major contributions from them in the final two-part HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS finale. I was particularly impressed with the way Tom Felton has transformed Draco Malfoy from a sneering bully into a genuine source of tortured menace, worthy of being both feared and pitied. But more than anything, it's great watching every element of the sweeping overall story come together so wonderfully and have the acting by the one-time child performers be able to match the power of the maturing plotlines.
Let me just remind you that after watching the third film, 2004's HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN, I decided that I was going to experience the world of HARRY POTTER as a strictly cinematic endeavor and hold off reading the J.K. Rowling novels until all of the films had been released. After watching what was for me (until now) the best entry in the series, I felt the way for me to enjoy these films (or not) would be to not constantly be comparing them to the books. I know there are many fan-favorite moments left out from the novels; it happens. That seemed like a distraction I didn't need. In my mind, the filmed versions of these stories needed to stand on their own. Thankfully, with minor exceptions here and there, I've found the entire series to be an exceedingly fulfilling pursuit. And while I have loved playing “Spot the Talented Veteran British Actor” over the course of the works, I've really grown to love the younger characters and their trials.
It should come as no surprise that great sections of THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE are about sex, which is one of the many reasons I'm surprised this film still managed to secure a PG rating. Rising attraction between the boys and girls was alluded to in the last film, but here, you can almost see the condom in every male character’s pocket. And Ron Weasley is the biggest horn dog any PG-rated film has ever seen. Not to mention that the young girls are practically throwing themselves at Harry because of his possible status as "The Chosen One." And Hermione Granger is acting just like a young woman whose hormones are in an uproar over a guy she not only believes she can't have but can't believe she's fallen for in the first place. In one scene, Harry and Ron are lying in bed in their shared room talking about girls they like; you can almost sense the semi-stiffies under their respective covers. It's weird, but it seems absolutely authentic at the same time.
Each new HARRY POTTER story gives us at least one new teacher, and in this film we may have the greatest addition of all, Jim Broadbent as Professor Horace Slughorn, the new potions instructor returning to Hogwarts after an extended absence. Since little in the POTTER world is unconnected, it should come as no surprise that Slughorn's past is tied to that of a young boy named Tom Riddle, who will grow to become Lord Voldemort. Harry and Prof. Dumbledore (a thankfully beefed up role for Michael Gambon) spend a great deal of time together watching memories of Riddle as a child, first meeting a younger version of the headmaster years earlier and then being taught a secret spell by Slughorn that forever changes the fate of many characters. I'd been told that huge sections of The Half-Blood Prince novel were devoted to flashbacks, and while we do get a few in the film, it never struck me that the story dwelled too much in the past to make me miss the present. And Broadbent is one of those exceptional actors that I truly could watch in anything and enjoy the experience that much more because of him. He’s the embodiment of nervous guilt, and his twitchy behavior kept me in as much suspense as any more overtly scary moment in THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE.
While I’m calling out actors, let me mention Alan Rickman just because I can. This is maybe only the second of the HARRY POTTER films where I’ve really felt the weight of his character fully utilized. I realize the films are following the lead of the books, but I literally crave more Rickman every time I watch these movies. He’s all over this one, and he’s doing things that appear on the surface to be not very admirable or good, but I’ve always known that of all the instructors at Hogwarts, he held the deepest secrets. As someone who is strictly going by the movies, he’s always been my favorite character, and I can’t wait to see where his storyline goes.
In an exquisite way, the film ties together and draws parallels between the twisted and churning emotions raging through the young characters on a daily basis and the Riddle flashbacks, showing us a version of the child-who-would-be-Voldemort at about the same age as our heroes are in the present. The lesson is that these beings of pure emotion have chosen to either harness their feelings for good or allow the let them run unchecked and turn them into something terrible. Even more remarkable is the film’s ability to make me reconsider so many other aspects of all the previous films. This latest work actually made me a little angry at the first two HARRY POTTER installments for being too whimsical and action-packed. THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE is the story that begins the tying up process, and reminds us that no character’s life is sacred at this stage of the game.
If it sounds like I’m painting THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE as something of a talkative number, that’s because I am and it is, and that’s hardly a bad thing. There’s an enormous amount of exposition going on here, but if you’re even mildly invested in these characters, it’s all wildly interesting. But the focus on relationships and emotion and talking and great acting and the Who’s Who of great British thespians made me realize that this is the best art film I’ve seen this summer, complete with some of the best camera work you’re likely to see all year thanks to the masterful French director of photography Bruno Delbonnel. More than that, much like the books, the films have gone well beyond being simply kids’ stories and moves them into the realm of fine, rich storytelling the likes of which you just don’t get in a typical large-budget summer film. I’m always crowing about how big films lack character development, but THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE has enough of that for six movies, and I was still itching for more at the end of the films 150-minute-plus running time.
I was also especially impressed with how the extended scenes between Dumbledore and Harry are handled. The line that I continue to think about is Dumbledore saying, “I’m afraid I must ask too much of you again, Harry” before an especially dangerous mission the two embark on together. He appears to be the kindly, protective grandfather type, but he also sees Harry as a weapon against the Dark Lord and he will wield him as often as he must. The layers and complexity of their relationship are their epic high point in this installment.
Honestly, I have no complaints about this movie, unless you count just wanting more of this very good thing. I somehow managed to make it through this entire review with even mentioning the names of the actors playing the three lead students (actually, there are a lot of much-loved actors’ names I’ve left out of this review--Helena Bonham Carter, returning as death-eater Bellatrix Lestrange, being at the top of the list). At least for a little while longer, allow me to pretend that there are no actors playing them. They simply are Harry, Hermione, and Ron for at least one more very long, two-part movie that I have to wait until November 2010 and July 2011 to see. For the first time since this franchise began, I am eagerly anticipating what happens next to these young wizards and their adversaries. Set the countdown clock for HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS.

count me in! They are legal, right?

Looking forward to this one. Sounds well worth a trip out for. I enjoy all the cast but more Rickman is a particularly good thing.

I've always been a hardcore HP fan, but my obsession has been burning like it never has in the last month or so. And I keep hearing that this new film is GREAT. What a wonderful thing to hear after the dreadful reviews we got last September. My ass is in a seat at 12:01 AM Wednesday.
-
Capone (or anyone really) is Yates signed to direct THE DEATHLY HALLOWS? I'm hoping he is, anyone know?
-
Aha - spamming is a bannable offense!
Does this mean we finally get rid of TITBAG? Please? -
TF2 opened big but fell sharply and will top out around 360. With the longer wait and the return to PG rating, this'll rake in big.

I stopped reading after that sentence.I'm just going to assume Capone liked the film.
-
Yes he is, and it's going to be two parts.
-
Half Blood Prince was my favorite book, mostly due to the history behind Voldemort via the flashbacks and I realize that they can't fit them all in, but from what I heard they did a good job with the ones they picked. I am glad to hear it's about 2 and a half hours as well. Unfortunately Capone Snape is only a small part of the Deathly Hallows, but if they stick close to the book you are in for some treats. Especially about Snape.
-
I can't fucking wait for Wednesday... my expectations for this film are huge!

ABOUT FUCKING TIME WE GOT A REVIEW HERE, QUESTION...
by charlesthomasmathews1978
Remember those early test screening reviews we got last year and how they trashed the film? I suspected that they were sent in by some whiney bitches who were pissed that they didn't get a literal translation of their beloved book. So, I have to wonder, did Yates do any reshoots or does anyone here think that those reviewers were just being hypercritical and bicthing for the sake of bitching?

Cobra--Kai, WHY THE TWO FILM RELEASE? IT'S BECAUSE....
by charlesthomasmathews1978
Deathly Hallows is the last one and Warners wants to rape it for every penny. They'd make it into a trilogy if they could but that would be pushing it. I suspect that once the last one comes out they'll turn it into a TV series.
-
Awesome! Do we finally have a movie that rivals POA? I can't wait till tomorrow night!
-
About fucking time. You know what ELSE would have been good? Fucking putting DOBBY IN THE OTHER MOVIES. Fools.
-
Setting up another Weasley brother so that we can have him get attacked by the fucking werewolf during the climax to this film-- oh wait, that's right they CUT OUT the climax, cut out all the fights between the villains and the good guys. Fucking cheap.
-
Deathly Hallows is two movies for two main reasons: 1. Because, yes, it does allow Warner Bros. one more cash cow before this thing is done. And, 2. because even though every film has cut a lot from the book it was based on, with Deathly Hallows there really isn't anything you can cut that isn't crucial to the overall stories or the characters that we have seen over the past six books/films. They're even bringing Dobby back and he's been ignored in the films since HP&TCOS. Hallows really is the wrap up of everything, and the most action oriented installment, and anything cut will take away from the impact of the series as a whole.
-
is the stupidity of the source material. Rowling is an awful writer, and her stories are predictable, trite rubbish. They've done a damn good job with the films so far and I expect this one to be just as good, but I'm frankly amazed at their quality given the trash they are based on.
-
But it's nice to see some of the glowing reviews this fucker is getting. Looking forward to seeing at the newly refurbished art-deco styled odeon in York. A proper old style cinema to see a proper summer blockbuster.
-
No setup, no foreshadowing, no real role given to Rickman's character Snape. One more reason to severely dislike the last film and worry about this one. If they had done the last film RIGHT, there would have been a short discussion about whether or not Snape was weakening Harry's mind to make Voldemort's infiltration easier. It would make what happens in THIS film all the more sad, scary, worrisome. Instead, they just brushed all concerns aside and told the audience "Snape is a good guy, whatever" in the last film.
-
Even Moriarty, who had read the book and gave this film a good review, confessed he couldn't remember much of it. So where's a review from someone who's a fan of the book? I'll trust that reviewer first.
-
But I am still wondering where Harry's and the others reviews of Public Enemies are? I've asked a few times and if I'm missing the answer sorry. Capone if you know could you please let me know?
-
I think those early reviews were by book fans who were pissed about the film. I also wanted to believe that the real reason the film was delayed 8 months was to do extensive reshoots, after the final book was released and the producers realized they had shot themselves in the foot by not including key characters and important setup. I'd like to believe that, but who knows.
-
Mike Newell is otherwise an excellent director, but his Potter film managed to fuck over what was, at the time, the strongest book yet.
I thought Yates did a good job of Order of the Phoenix. But Half Blood Prince is my favourite of all the HP books and one of the real strengths is the extended backstory of Riddle, whereas it sounds like a lot of that stuff has largely been dropped from the film. I hope it works, but - as good as the films can be (Cuaron's is still the shining example) - i'm tempering my expectations. -
Spoilers are so uncool.
-
They're bringing him back just for the final movie, just so he can fulfill his purpose. It just feels so damn cheap, him coming back out of left field to fix part of the plot (no spoilers here). Its just bad writing. He should have been included in past films so that we're reminded he's still a part of Harry's life at Hogwarts.

D.Vader, THERE ISN'T A BATTLE AT THE END OF THIS MOVIE BECAUSE..
by charlesthomasmathews1978
We get the mother of all battles in Deathly Hollows and the whole "liquid luck" idea was just a piss poor plot device by Rowling to keep the students from getting massacred by a squad of Death Eaters. It seems that the attack at the school is more like a hit and run rather then a full on blow out and I think it’s the right idea for this movie. The liquid luck plotline should only be used in relation to building up Ron's confidence and it looks like that is what has been done. My only concern was the attack on the Weasley’s home as it smacked of throwing in some action for the sake of it and wasn’t in the original book.

Hi Everyone,
Fresh from screening HP and the Half Blood Prince I must say it was like watching a horrible version of a John Hughes film set in the world of Harry Potter. The best pieces of the novel are left out so that teen angst can be displayed and the characters we have come to love can go through their paces.
I sat through the film feeling alot of need. In this book the father and son relationship finally comes out full bore for Harry and Dumbledore, making the finale so much more heartbreaking for Harry. Instead we get brief moments showing Voldemorts past and fleeting character builds for Harry and Dumbledore. Instead of watching these pivotal characters grow, we get a bunch of horny kids trying to "snog."
When we finally get to the big moment when Harry and Dumbledore return to Hogwarts, most lovers of the book know there is an amazing character building battle that takes place, giving us a glimpse at where the next novel will be taking us...instead what do we get from Yates...Nada. A half baked flurry of magical attacks making Snapes deception a snore fest.
At the end, instead of a devastated Harry as in the book, where he does not know how he will continue the fight without his mentor and father figure, we get more comments about teen relationships. Thanks Yates, for ruining the best book with the worst of all the films. You are no better than Uwe Boll in my book!!! -
cast him to his dojo of sodomy.

Ron Weasley is the Fredo Corleone of the series.
Seriously, hoping that this movie finally is the grandslam of an otherwise lackluster summer for great movies. -
My son and his wife, who never saw the films in the theater, finished a marathon on DVD yesterday, so we are all going to see Half-Blood Prince together. REALLY looking forward to it.
-
The book's description is quite graphic. Harry pretty much splits open Draco spilling his blood everywhere. If I see some neutered effect it's going to suck and take away from just how fucked up the source of the spell was.
-
I never read the books but these films have been getting better and better. I never cared for the first to really but around film 3 it go very interesting. Really excited for this one.

...is a magnificent score by maestro John Williams. I hope he returns to score the final two films!

I had forgotten about the Liquid Luck thing, but you can still do the final battle without needing the Liquid Luck. You're right, the attack is supposed to be a Hit and Run deal, and here is my problem with the producers excluding the battle: it doesn't make sound, logical sense. SPOILERS AHEAD So, the Death Eaters get into the school through the magic cupboard. If they were smart and wanted to avoid trouble, they would exit the same way they came in after their mission had been fulfilled. The only reason they DONT go back through the cupboard in the book is because the good guys- Order of the Phoenix, students, teachers, etc- block off their exit. The battle then becomes a fighting retreat, as the Death Eaters run through the school and attempt to get out of its boundaries so that they can teleport out of there. Now in the movie, they make all this noise and it attracts no teachers, no students- nothing. Yet, they decide to go running through the school making noise? Risking confrontation, risking attacks and death? Why? Just so that we can still have a confrontation between them and Harry and Snape later? It doesn't make sense. They should be exiting through the cupboard. But of course, that's not exciting... so let's just have them make a shitload of noise celebrating their completed mission and avoid any fights whatsoever. Its dumb. The reason is just an excuse. I fully believe that any good filmmaker can shoot both battles and make them look completely different. One, afterall, is just a retreat with the focus on Harry, who is angry and determined, running past any friend who may need help because he's focused on going after Snape. The other battle is a full on assault on a castle with a MUCH much larger cast of characters and creatures. I fully believe both can be filmed and made to look different and not repetitive. Also, as I explained, it makes sense for their to be a fight at the end of the movie; if there wasn't, the Death Eaters would just quietly escape the way they came in. And regarding the attack on the Weasley house- you are right; I feel the exact same way. It just smacks of throwing in action, making up crap, in order to create some excitement since they cut out the fight at the end.
-
See this is why i am glad i have not read the books yet. I am really enjoying these films and most book to film Translations annoy me. But I do plan on reading them once the films are done. I really do want to enjoy the films and not compare them to the source material. I wonder what I will think once I read the books.

I mean come on. This film has zombies and a kid who gets his face deeply slashed by a magical blood exploding spell. And its P. Fucking. G.

poa is still my idea of a perfect potter movie and your saying this is better? dont get me so hyped up man! im very dissapointed that they cut out the dursleys and dobby though. but i will judge it as a film on its own. i thought goblet was good too, but i hated gambon in that one. he screamed his way through that film like a fuckin madman. i was glad to see him do a better job in ootp, which was a good enough movie considering how weak the book was, but theres way to many cuts for me to fully love that one. i dont know why they cut stuff that was major to the series, but wouldve only took a mintue to show. pissed me off. whatever. this looks to be the movie of the summer. fuck bayformers.
-
That's what I've been trying to say: they cut stuff that's major to the series (sometimes) but would've only took a minute to show. They leave out so many details that connect the films together (other than the main characters) and create setup and foreshadowing and allusions and references to previous films. Instead of feeling like Star Wars or Lord of the Rings, the movies feel like Police Academy as far as being a whole story goes.
-
The inferi I've seen in the trailers don't look at all what I thought Inferi were supposed to look like. I thought Inferi were supposed to look more like zombies of the voodoo kind and less the Harryhaussen Sinbad skeletons we see in the trailer for HBP.
-
The first couple of movies suffered when compared to the books but by the time part 4 rolled around, Rowling had become too big for her britches and the books became bloated monstrosities. I doubt anyone had the never to try to edit her at that point. The final book is actually pretty poorly written when compared to the books that preceded it. 4 years ago, I'd say you were a fool to ignore the books but now I'm thinking you made the right decision.
-
Is it that easy for you picture in your head, the images of teenage boys in their beds with "semi-stiffies"? That's just wrong Harry? Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong.
-
This worries me. When I first read that part I loved it my mind was racing with the idea of basically a magical terrorist attack. They cut that due to what not wanting a pg-13 rating? I don't get why they changed all that stuff.
-
Don't we all crave a more Rickman?
-
From the trailers this looks like the heaviest yet, and it should. However I keep reading reviews talking about how this one is lighter and funnier than the rest. Why the hell is that the direction they took this one? Half Blood Prince is the 2nd best in the book series (after Deathly Hallows) and that is largely because Order of the Phoenix was such a freaking mess. But a lot of it has to do with the revelations about Voldemort and the kick ass emotionally heavy finale. If that has been sharply truncated I'll be pretty disappointed. At 150mins I don't see how this one could crap out at the ending due to running over so it must be an intentional choice in the script.
-
Might not beat the domestic box office, but will kill in the rest of the world. Outselling T.P. in pre sales as well here in the states.

That's what I've been personally calling episodes 3,4, and 5 of the film series. (After Sirius Black and because the dark tone differs greatly in those films when compared to the first two) POA was the best, and Goblet slightly less so, but I really liked Phoenix, also. (Maybe it was the 3D IMAX?) The wizard battle at the end of that film between Voldy and Dumby was quite excellent! (and Sirius' shocking death even more so!) I was following Capone's plan of only watching the movies and not reading the books, but I read HBP and Deathly Hallows because Phoenix(the film) really drew me into the Potter world. (and I also didn't want to be spoiled by the ending of the series!) I'm looking forward to HBP in IMAX 3D, even if it is releasing a week after the theatrical version. (Not going to see it in LIEMAX at the Century 15!) My question, that Capone can't answer because he didn't read the book is: how did they change the ending? I've heard they fucked it up compared to the book? Curious...
-
...I think Capone is a little over-enthusiastic. This is a very different Potter film than the rest and really has a feel of a less-interesting LOTR. If you go in expecting anything close to the first five installments as far as excitement and action is concerned, you'll be disappointed. Still a very well crafted film...just a bit too long.
-
There is a clip of harry and dracos battle online and he hits draco square in the chest with it. The battle is longer than in the book and looks cool.

This is fucking talk back not grammar school.

they'd get Tom Wilkinson in to some extent in the last two movies, but I know it's never gonna happen, isn't he busy with 44 inch chest or something anyways?

It's Capone that's the dirty gay pedophile!

Pass. I'm sure this shit doesn't need my money.

It was the first movie since Trek to be number one two weeks in a row. now BORAT THAT fell sharply.

And why should we care about his grammar rules?

I kept trying to figure out who that other "boy" was in the clips. Turns out it might be Tonks. She looks like a Mormon women, wearing a dress with no neckline and full sleeves. Double ugh.
-
ill wait till its on dvd 3 months later.
-
There was no tension, no buildup whatsoever (just like with the death of Sirius in the last one). I got no sense that this was a last resort curse, or that Harry had to debate using it. I got no sense that he had to do it to protect himself. He just casually tosses it out there like he was giving a homeless person a sandwich, "Here ya go, Sectumsempra". Triple Ugh. Not how I read it in the books at all.
-
No idea why he's got it out for you though. Quadruple ugh. PS: As proof that the new Harry Potter film is "good", the commercials quote CHUD's Devin Faracci TWICE.

-
Just what is it exactly with you and Grint? Were you up for the same role once or something? All you ever do is wish death on that super rich ginger.
-
They're freakin' wizards!
-
He is by far one of the worst child actors in History. He is just SOOO terrible and bad. I think he is probably the main reason I have not been able to fully enjoy any Harry Potter film. And his character in the last two were soooo pitiful and devoid of anything redeeming it was just sickening. And the fact that they kept hiring and rehiring that twat makes my head explode. He puts about as much effort into the Harry Potter films as Adam Sandler does in his cameo appearances in Rob Schniders films. I don't understand how anyone could take this film serious with such a shitty actor on the screen. I get how he is suppose to be the mild comic relief in the film, but I’ve met babies with better jokes and delivery then that sack of sad. The fact that he didn’t die from the swine flu is one of god’s worst FAIL in history.

Unless that video is a deleted scene from Faces of Death showing the horrible broomstick scene gone terribly wrong from the newest Harry Potter in which Rupert Grint ends up getting a broomstick violently rammed into his loose asshole coming all the way out mouth, then I won't care for it.

So would a hard on be a full-blood price?Bwaa haaa haaa haaa
-
Cuaron still owns the Harry Potter universe.Oh yea, and the universe of CHILDREN OF FUCKING MEN

(despite continuity frustrations eg Sirius claiming 'the map never lies', there having been no explanation of the Padfoot/Wormtail/Moony/Whatsit thing. I'll get over that one day). Movie rocks though.

I can't forgive.

I really enjoyed the plot and I love a good time travel story. John Williams score was amazing too. After Azkaban is when I started to get invested in these movies and I've enjoyed the movies ever since. My only complaint is I wish Williams would return to score.

I am hoping The Deathly Hallows movies are better than the book

NO TENT! FUCK THAT TENT!
-
Wasn't she just, like, a fan of the movies who got lucky at an open audition? I mean not a child actor or anything. She's funny
-
Dogsoup, you speak the truth. I nearly gave up reading The Deathly Hallows with that 'camping out' sequence that never seemed to end.
That's why I worry about making two films out of it. They might decide to film the 'tent' episode in it's interminable entireity. -
I found the last book to be extremely overrated. The beginning was great, but then I had to sift through 400 pages of boring camping bullshit to get to the finale I've been waiting seven books for. I really can't imagine a way that between the two films there won't be at least an hour of boring camping.
-
in your review? And use it correctly? Amazing.

Oh I'm sorry I totally ruined that for you didn't I.

really dull. Actually - better whisper it - really thought DH dropped the ball. Really want the films to be better.

And he's seeing it tonight, I believe. Looking forward to his review (SOON!, please Quint) but Capone's was a good read as well.
Go Slytherin! -
i'm not sure what to think of someone who says that they don't want the Harry Potter books to spoil the films.

And I loved how it called back something from every previous book and year, whether it was character or plot point.

is so highly rated. Order of the Phoenix was pretty lacklustre and pales in comparison to Alfonso Cuarón's far superior Prisoner of Azkaban. Can't understand why Yates gets to direct 4 of the 8 movies. They should have brought back Cuarón for at least one more.

"In one scene, Harry and Ron are lying in bed in their shared room talking about girls they like; you can almost sense the semi-stiffies under their respective covers. It's weird, but it seems absolutely authentic at the same time."
WTF... blech!

killing off my favourite character without a grand & noble death scene. Balls!

Yeah I'm sure your grammar is better out side of cyber space. As far as you, as a human being, Huge FAIL! Your humor, Huge FAIL! You are a vapid waste of space and resources. I mean really could anyone actually like you in the real world? Pretty sure no one likes you in cyber space. They say a little knowledge is dangerous, then I am to assume you are the most dangerous man in the world. I am actually pissed you are using some of my air. Your animosity towards Grint can only be that you are a frustrated jealous actor wanna be. What an embarrassment!
-
You are way too forgiving. The only way to describe anyone who didn't despise "The Happening" is "full-on retard."

i agree, man.... FUCK THAT FUCKING STUPID FUCKING TENT.

Already got my tickets. Fuck all you haters.

Thanks for the spoiler, you scumbag.

What's the story on why he didn't do the whole series? Couldn't be money, these movies can afford him. PoA was one of his best scores so I don't think he got bored, and supposedly he wants to come back for Deathly Hollows. Seriously, what's the deal? Did the producers fire him? That would be insane.
-
the condom in every male character's pocket."Like the way I can almost see the powdered sugar on your lips and chin, from the dozen Dunkin' Donuts you downed while writing your review!
-
That.
-
Had Harry's name stuck in my head!
-
Nice, but that's a pretty high water mark, since as everyone knows, Cuaron made the best, most imaginative HP film. Too bad the producers didn't ask him to helm the final two movies.

Mark my words, for I guaran-fucking-tee Michael Bay will show up pouting and snorting in some interview about how it lost because the "studio didn't support it enough." The douche bag is utterly incapable of taking the blame for his failures, like when he blamed Ewan McGregor and Scarlet Johannson for the Island bombing at the box office.
-
Cuaron is one of my favorite filmmakers but I really don't see anything special about POA except it's better than the first two
-
Yates brought in his tv-movie composer. And the results were terrible.
-
Because audiences eat this shit up. The movies don't end, and the acting is terrible.

A still hung over Hogwarts this night...just a few hours earlier Hermione Granger had what was possibly the worst moment of your young life....Ron, the dork that for some reason she decided to throw a mercy shag at, had failed miserably in his odd, virginic attempts to give her what she had so desperately needed. "Fucking Ron", she thought, "how on earth could a 17yr old man be so inept at the simple task of fucking." Hermione shuddered, and a chill ran down her thigh as she remembered Ron's dismal attempts to mount her..the fumbling of zippers..the clusterfuck with the robes..and finally his scared, minute flaccid member as he tried time after time to find her aching sex..."My God..., he couldn't even find my pussy"; "And so scared he could not stay hard...not that it mattered as small as it was"She lay there...flustered, unfulfilled...knowingly she let her hand slip under her robes...it knew the way...for almost 7 years she had administered this nightly ritual to herself in the dark shadows of Hogwarts. Her fingers brushed her abdomen before gently running through her full bush and finally finding her moist, swollen lips...the sex pour from her as she stroked her erect and throbbing clit...no magic spell in the world could top the sensations she could give herself. Her slim digits slid between her aching lips..."Bloody hell I'm hot" she though...she put her middle finger deep within her love tunnel..the muscles contracting around it tightly as she pressed her palm into her clit and ground it down there....a slight sigh escaped her thin english lips..her tongue escaped and licked at them...."My God...it just isn't enough anymore"..opening her eyes from her passion...her gaze fell on her wand..."Oh Yes...Thats IT!" her mind raced...taking her free hand she grasped it quickly...and before she knew what she was doing panted under her breath.."Wandious Erectus Enourmous".....and with that last effort the wand Burst into a flash...extending in every dimension...a wind rushed in dousing the few candles she has lit...to be replaced by the soft glow that now came from her once dainty and feminine wand...now a full 3 sizes in diameter larger..and a full foot in length. Then..it began to move...and hum...and before she could stop it it flew from her hand and positioned it brutish tip between her soft, thighs..now glistening with her sweat from the glow of her enchanted wand..."Oh Fuck all this Harry/Voldermort Bullshit"..she thought.."Now THIS will be some real fucking magic..!"

Damn, what a perverted site. I can't believe shit like this gets posted. Classy.
-
Take the stick out. If this is your first HP thread in over four years...welcome to the show. If not, quit faking being whinerbabies.
-
If that scene is in the movie I will actually pay to see this.
-
Who the fuck are you? Rupert Grint's boyfriend?
-
I want to see the light leave his eyes!!
-
No. I'm just calling out a devastatingly inferior human being who uses the Anonymity of the internet to say ignorant things. And really? am I Rupert Grints boyfriend? Really that's what you take away from my comments. God! you are just tripe.
-
Makes NO sense whatsoever, for the people crazy enough to read these comments without having read the book, as much of a minority as that would be.
-
Reading the books ruined that last movie for me. I hated what they took out and couldn't get over it. So much so that I have no expectations whatsoever for this film. I'm just going to see old pals on screen basically. It does make it difficult to get anything from your review though. I mean the reason you crave Snape is that all the books were full of Snape, but the movies weren't. I can tell you though, I hated this ending and was sure the last book was going to suck because of it. It didn't. I got over it. But I still hate Ginny.
-
is about as inspiring as a High School motivational speaker, and only marginally more interesting.
-
is almost as annoying as scriptgirl.
-
Oh the movie sounds like another disappointment. It would make sense changing the movie that way IF these were popular movies of unpopular books. But the majority of people seeing the movies already like the books the way they are so why have the teen angst garbage? I feel like rereading it now, just to be as pissed as can be when I see it.
-
Prisoner of Azkaban is still my favorite, but this one is very close.
-
Hermy and Ronnie have to be the lamest most unbelievable unrelateable unlikely unromantic couple EVAH. Rowling threw them together because 1) she sucks at romance - also comedy and writing magic in general - HELL the only think she's good at is plotting - and 2) Hermy is too good for Harry, as in, too good a character. She's smarter, braver, more accomplished, and thus she overpowers him because, face it, Harry's a huge gaping black cipher. No personality. No appeal. Which is why hiring Radcliffe was typecasting. So Rowling picks this nothing character Ginny, whom we BARELY know and also has zip personality, to partner with the Cipher and what a freaking snore. The sad thing is that Radcliffe and Watson have incredible onscreen chemistry and now it's going to go to waste because Rowling was out of her depth. Oh, will I see this movie? Hell why not. I saw the other four (five, six? Lost track). It's like taking prescription medicine - you have to take ALL the pills lest the infection return. And I so do want to be cured of my interest in Harry Potter. Sounds like this potential snorefest should just about do it.

and this site post scriptgirl videos. actually it was kinda pervertly genius. hats off sir.

sounds a little like something M would say to Bond - which really corresponds to your interpretation of it, Capone...
-
Voldemort isn't someone who let his emotions run unchecked. And this isn't just in the books - it's in the films, too. He's a COWARD, and therefore REFUSES to LET his emotions run unchecked. He has killed every emotion he has, turning his life over to objects and avarice instead of being open to the pain and pleasure of friendship and love - they say as much in Movie 5. I suggest you go back and look at Tom as being -afraid- of emotion as opposed to being unbridled emotion. He is a coward who trades people for objects - the definition of a psychopath, someone who views others as mere things.
-
So then you admit it, you are Rupert Grints boyfriend. Have fun ginger fucking, faggot.
-
of Harry Potter sucking off an Indian.
-
it was better written and more complete than 90% of the movies thus far this year, even though I knocked that fucker out in less than 10 minutes.:P
-
And hats off to you my good sir...someone had to jump on the grenade amidst this hyper serious horocrux/Voldemort/Potter discussion and remind folks exactly why the talkbacks are the best part of a balanced movie diet.
-
Praise Bale.
-
I expected to dislike the film because the book was very unfocused. Instead, the film was far more poignant (with a wonderful bit of foreshadowing toward the end). The climax really showed Harry's inner struggle more than any Potter film thus far.
I have high hopes for this one. -
What's next banishment? Sorry for the spoilers, I guess. (but I didn't start it! ;-)
-
Oh I'll grant you, at least yours is legible and generally adheres to the rules of grammar. And you kept it reasonable; didn't go full crazy and have Dumbledore banging Hermione while Dobbi rogers Harry.
-
I think they look great, more like Auschwitz victims than zombies, which is exactly what it needs.
Absolutely no hope for the Sectum Sempra moment, it'll just be like Anakin getting his arm lopped off by Dracula, no build up, it'll happen so fast you'll be like... what just happened there? -
We understand. You don't like the films because they missed out the scene where blah blah blah. Point made. Now, would you please piss off and allow the rest of us to enjoy these supremely entertaining movies. Thanks!
-
So over the Potter thing. Oh, and btw, expect book 8 as soon as Rowling realizes its the only thing people want to read from her. Although, with the BATRILLIONZILLION dollars she made off of this cash cow, she could retire right now and be ludicrously wealthy for the rest of her life.
-
an utter...piece...of...trash. You live to ruin experiences for other people. You are scum. Look in the mirror and comprehend what a complete and total jerk you are.
And I'll take the stick out after you take your head out of your rectum, dung head. -
I realize that the film series and book series are different and I have no problem with that. But I also feel they could have added a few scenes to flesh out some of the characters so that things do not seem forced. The whole Ginny and Harry thing has been going on since the 2nd book, she is a richer character and more interesting in the books. All I am saying is that they should have included her more in the movie series to make it appear that this love affair comes out of thin air. it doesn't. Hermione and Ron are perfect because they are complete opposites who are attracted to each other and both do not understand why, it's a lot like Sam and Diane from Cheers. Love can sometimes hit you unexpectedly and also appear in forms you would never consider.
-
OI! Cor blimey, 'Arry! It looks like me wand is rigid and standin' on end! 'Appens everytime Fluer walks by in her bathing suit. I wonder why that is? (Then Harry says) The same thing happens to my wand, but, uh, it only happens when you walk by Ron...
Stay tuned for book 13: HARRY POTTER AND LOVE THAT DARE NOT SPEAK ITS NAME! -
It looks like grammar did you in again this "?" is a question mark not a statement mark. How does your brain generate enough energy to breath? Once again your very brave behind your keyboard throwing around the Faggot word. With every key you press you prove my point. You ignorant waste of air. What's so funny is you're probably a latent homosexual.
-
you're not your.... at least I realized the typo
-
How many NAMBLA members flew to London to see Harry Potter get naked in Equus? My guess: ALL OF THEM.
-
Positive: 2
Negative: 1
Harry's WTF BLABFEST: 1.
-
That's just an awful decision, because you've forever ruined/spoiled the reading of the HP books, which are in every way superior to the HP movies. In fact, the movies are much more enjoyable if you've already read the books, because you know more about what's going on. I love you and Harry, Capone, but you're taking massive doses of FAIL with this "let's watch the okay film adaptations of great books" business.
-
Just HOW did Yates do a great job of foreshadowing at the end? If anything, he did a TERRIBLE job of setting up the final 3 films.
-
I am chewing on them right now
