NBC’s MERCY To Autumn!! PARENTHOOD To Midseason!!

Published at:  Jul 10, 2009 3:53:45 PM CDT

I am – Hercules!!

NBC’s Michelle Trachtenberg nursing drama “Mercy” is being promoted to autumn from midseason. The change reflects the news that Maura Tierney’s health issues have postponed production of “Parenthood” to midseason.

I’ve not yet seen “Mercy,” but “Parenthood” was the best of the fall pilots I’ve seen so far (and I’m getting close to the bottom of the pile), and Tierney is one of the best things about “Parenthood.”

    Really? Parenthood?

    by kellek1974

That is pretty sad if a remake of a failed series based on a 90's movie is one of the best. Yet I agree, with Drath - future canceled shows.

If they don't say what her health issues are

    by throwmetheidol

Rumors will spread. That's always how it is. Better to be upfront.
As to the show, eh the ads make it looks slickly made but nothing new.

    Peter Krause

    by henry fool

Being a big fan of "Six Feet Under" I look forward to seeing what Peter Krause does with the Ed Begley Jr. role, er... Um, I mean the Steve Martin role in the new series.

On that note, I can't believe how many years I spent unaware that Leaf Phoenix and Joaquin Phoenix were the same person.

I hear someone named Grass Phoenix has been cast as Gary (originally played by Leaf Phoenix) in the new series version of Ron Howard's classic, "Parenthood". Hopefully, he'll follow his older relative's footsteps with honor and do the role justice then change his name to Abejundio when he's in his early twenties.

And I hope Maura Tierney's okay. I don't know what her health problems are but since she's a Hollywood actress, she probably just needs more carbs.

  • Interesting how they both went on to be stars and all.

"The production start has been postponed for eight weeks"

    by bravogolfhotel

That's awfully specific for a medical emergency. Nonetheless, I hope Ms. Tierney can recover. True, she spent a decade ruining her mystique as the insufferable Abby Lockhart, but she was the Jenna Fischer of the '90s. She really had the goods.

I think CHUCK will get its shot

    by bravogolfhotel

NBC's new shows look like shit afire, and Leno's ability to compete in primetime is still a big question mark. CHUCK coming off the bench early can't be ruled out.

    This production must be cursed.

One of the producers died on the set as well.Lisa Miller >>> Abby Lockhart. I'm still pissed off when I think about Phil Hartman's psycho wife.

They already tried Parenthood right after

    by grammaton cleric binks

the movie came out. So why are they trying this again. The fate of tv shows adapted from movies is well known. There are a few exceptions, M*A*S*H being the granddaddy of them all, but for the most part they tank and tank hard.

No way that the Parenthood pilot is better than

    by ev1ldead

V, Day One or Flash Forward cause I can't rememember a network family drama that doesn't suck donkey balls and was more than a prime time soap.

    by big jim

They did, sort of. NBC has "Trauma", otherwise know as "ER Outdoors".

It's going to be fun to read how bad NBC's ratings are this fall with that stupid Jay Leno show and all the other bullshit they are trying to pass off as scripts. FU NBC
