Then DREAMWORKS has a place online: CLICK HERE TO GO THERE and collect your free pass to see AMERICAN BEAUTY! You often hear me talk about these passes, but here's one for your very own self. They are first come first serve so ya better hurry, inevitably they'll go fairly briskly.

A few months back we had this script review and this is obviously a DREAMWORKS attempt to get good word of mouth started about what is otherwise a tough film to market. Often times that's the case when you have a film like this one. (Read that script review if you're curious) BUT it might very well be a great little film. I mean... it has Kevin Spacey (A major plus in my column), Annette Bening (Hey there!), Thora Birch (I haven't seen her in a while) and Dr Sam Becket from QUANTUM LEAP... that's right Scott Bakula! So... go get your pass if you want it, but be sure to come back and let us here at AICN know what ya thought!

Free movies lead to the darkside.

    by darth siskel

Having seen roughly half of this year's releases well in advance, I must say, reviewing a free movie is not totally fair. There is a psychological thing going on when you've shelled out $7-$9 bucks for a movie that influences your feelings about the movie. For example, leaving a free screening of Deep Blue Sea, I thought, hey that was pretty cool, but reflecting on that, had I spent the $9.50 to see it, I would've felt only about $5.00 worth of satisfaction. Think about it next time you rave about a movie you didn't pay for. And dammit I'm first!!!

    Then again...

    by pope buck 1

My friend Penny was once doing reviews for a local movie review show, and was given a free pass to "Teachers" with Nick Nolte -- she told me that even though it was free, she STILL felt ripped off! She wanted her money back, or at least those two hours out of her life.

    question

    by p.n.c.

okay, this may seem stupid, but is the "Rochester" mentioned, Rochester, New York or Rochester, Michigan? I'm assuming New York, so i got Detroit tickets (although rochester would be SO much closer to me, so if it IS michigan by any chance, and someone knows, please tell me. thanks.) i love scott bakula!

    American Beauty tikcets

    by cinemaboy

Thanks Harry !!!!! Your such a good guy. I am a "priviliged one" and get to see most movies free ( here in the Dallas area, and else where, we have a theatre chain callled Cinemark, and this past Christmas, I got a "Cinepass" which entitles me to unlimited movies all year long ). So I just wanted to say even when it gets released I will probably see American Beauty, ( it just looks so good, I saw the trailer to it at The Sixth Sense ) any way, thank you for the site on the passes, its always fun to see movies in advance. ; )

    by mr. keating

What day is this screening on in Atlanta and Washington D.C.? I would really like to go but i dont want to order for the wrong city nor do I want to order tickets in both, i think thatd be a little rude and unfair.

It does change your point of view

    by grayson

Have to agree with Darth up above that it is different seeing a movie for free. But, I find it kind of liberating. Usually, when I go to a screening, I don't know much about the movie. So it's like a treat! It's free, and the plot is a surprise. I was working in at a wilderness camp the summer that T2 came out, and I happened to be home the weekend it was released. I had no idea what the movie was about, and I was shocked when Arnold started protecting that kid. It was great. Maybe I'm not talking about free movies as much as about seeing movies you don't know much about. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the American Beauty screening.

Thank you so much Harry! I check out your site a few times a day,
and when I found my city, well you made my week. My friends and I LOVE Mr. Spacey and we all requested tickets this morning. Thanks again Harry and thank you DreamWorks!

    Beauty looks good

    by the flash

Thanks so much for the free tix info!!! Here in NY at 9.50 a pop movie going has become a restrictive activity, only going to "event" films or movies I know I have a very, very good chance of liking! I saw the preview at The Blair Witch (Yes, I liked it) and both Iris and I thought it looked very interesting! A dark movie about suburban life perhaps a bit more fully realized and deep than, say Arlington Road. Thanks again! Looking forward to it!

    American Beauty

    by jamaica

Yippee! It's off to Cincinnati I go! This is one "beauty" I've been waiting a year to see. Spacey is going to break some major new ground for himself as an actor in this film. For that alone I would happily shell out $10.00 -- but I'm glad I don't have to! (I'll bet my life before this movie hits video, though, I'll have shelled out A LOT more money than ten bucks seeing it!)

    Scott Bakula

    by fumph

Yay! Somone who sees Scott Bakula as a positive asset to a cast! WhooHoo! I'm really looking forward to seeing Scott play one half of the Jims, though I shall have to wait a while - I haven't heard when it will be released in England yet. And Scott does have a small role, or so he said during s recent interview, but this looks like a film I'd watch whether he was in it or not.

Hope you all enjoy these preview screenings and that you write up some reports for those less fortunate!
