AICN EXCLUSIVE!!
Bryan Fuller Has
Again Left HEROES!!
I am – Hercules!!
Bryan Fuller has again exited “Heroes.”
"Development was really starting to heat up, And it appears like I may be writing multiple pilots for NBC so that wasn't leaving a ton of room for 'Heroes,' unfortunately," the star writer-producer tells AICN exclusively. "We crafted some really great arcs for the season that I'm excited to see come to fruition. I love that cast dearly and am sad to go, but the plate -- she was over-flowing."
Fuller, of course, is the "Dead Like Me"/"Wonderfalls"/"Pushing Daisies" creator who wrote the best "Heroes" episodes, including "Company Man" and "Cold Snap." He left "Heroes" near the end of its first season to create "Daisies," then returned to "Heroes" near the end of last season.
Fuller is under contract with "Heroes" producer NBC Universal for another year and a half, and has been preparing new series pitches for the media giant since he left Warner Bros.' "Daisies." He's also expressed an ambition to eventually create, or help create, a new Paramount TV series set in J.J. Abrams' new "Star Trek" universe.

bring on the fuller star trek show
-
Bryan Fuller...stay put!
-
Beat me by 12 seconds!
-
Besides the nubile Ms Panetierre, Fuller was pretty much the only thing that show had going for it.<p> But good news if he gets something on air elsewhere.<p>
-
I mean, before it goes from really really really stupid to really really really really really stupid.
-
The manatees from Family Guy are available???
-
The final death knell for heroes.
-
Now Fuller can go back and create good tv shows. Heroes blooooows.
-
TV will be better for it.<p>Heroes got a lot better with his episodes but it's still not close to where it should be.
-
So Heroes has been dropped from this dojo! After BSG, there is no time for mediocrity.
-
Before someone comes in and says, "Heroes is better than 90% of the crap on TV" I'd like to say, yeah, that may be true but it doesn't make a bit of difference when you realize how good the show *could* be in competent hands. If I were Fuller, I'd jump shit too. That's right - shit, not ship.
-
hasn't been good since about 3 episodes before the end of season 1.
-
Couldn't we just cancel Heroes and air reruns of The Shield starting from season 1????
-
I didn't notice it getting any better when Fuller came back last season. I think this show is beyond saving and has been since halfway through season two. Even someone of Fuller's stature can't convince me that gold plating makes a turd less of a turd.
-
It's not like Heroes raped your childhood or anything.
-
I thought just like all things in his life, Milo Ventimiglia and heroes are just in different places right now.
-
I bet it was a mutual agreement. NBC wanted Fuller to shepherd something else without getting dragged down by what's likely to be Heroes' last season; Fuller didn't want to get gutteralled by Heroes' last season, so he approached NBC with an arrangement. Or something along those lines. But if either is true, it's the death knell for Heroes -- if the guy who helped make the show a hit doesn't want to try to bring it back, just how far off the rails has it gone?
-
God, you're an idiot. <p> You talk about it being better in 'competent hands', and then go 'good on ya Fuller, you're too good for the show.' </p> <p> Surely you'd WANT someone competent like Fuller onboard, and be angry that he left?
-
I'm officially removing "Heroes" from my DVR. The show hasn't a chance in Hell without him. If only they'd hired someone like Jane Espenson after he left. She could have saved the show. I've never seen a show go from great to terrible the way Heroes did in Season Two. Lost recovered nicely from a rocky Season Two, gradually evolving from a "stranded in a strange" scenario to a time travel story. Buffy was another great show that evolved by always having the magic be metaphorical for the issues people face at different stages of youth. Heroes never had a course of evolution or a theme, just clever powers. If Fuller's out, so am I...
-
the dude's just carpooling
-
You bitched when it had a similar feel to S1 during S2. Then you bitched when they made it more adrenaline packed. And then you bitched when they tried to go back to what it was in S1 during the last half of S3. <p> At least Hobo's always had a dislike of Heroes. Granted that's because he's a Lost fanboy (and felt inanely enraged that it would ever be compared to Heroes... ignoring how time-travel showed up on Lost after Heroes, and Lost upping it's game after Heroes aired.
-
There's so much hate for Heroes, one of the best genre shows in years, even with its weak points, and yet horrid writing like that in Harry Knowles' articles has fans. I'm willing to bet that many of the same people who enjoy Harry's writing are the same people who trash Heroes--and both of those facts say a lot about them. <br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Yes. Yes, it does. /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br
-
given himself ANOTEHR long look in the mirror and felt disguested? well bravo Bryan, this show is a turkey! I USED to LOOOVE this show, then season 2 rolled round, and my jaw dropped. Then season 3 rolled round, and my pants dropped(literally...but BRYAN FULLER was nice enough to put them back on for me0
-
with both fuller and beeman off, there is absolutely no creativity left in the team<p> kring learned absolutely nothing<p> ill be amazed is the show lasts the entire 4th season
-
Much as the 'fuck Heroes' rhetoric bugs me, at least spell properly when you do it.
-
it's fucked
-
Think about it.
-
And Ive given both plenty to opertunities to improve lol
-
Fuck it up its stupid ass.<p> How's that for an ancient AICN-ism?
-
That was my first thought as soon as i read the headline as well. Ever since Fuller said he would love to do a trek series and had a idea, Ive been hopefull we would one day get to see one.
-
Heroes DID improve after Fuller came back? I stopped watching it sooo many times but kept coming back because I was told it was getting better but it just never happened.
-
I used to think him leaving was what made it start to suck but nope that wasn't it judging by the crapfest after he came back.
-
Yes it did get better. There were a couple episodes I thought were spectacular, especially the one Fuller wrote. The problem though is that Fuller jumped back in to a story arc that I didn't really think was that interesting. Overall, "Fugitives" was a dry story done well.
-
I'll be one of those that stops watching Heroes. I've been reading the talkbacks of people on this site abandoning this show for a couple years now, and I never thought it would be me. But at this point, I'm only holding out to see if Fuller can make the show great again. If he's left, I think I'll join the ranks of those finding something else to do on Monday nights.
-
No more Trek series.<P>The movie was great. Please lets have a few more of those before we head back down the road of TV Trek mediocrity.<P>Please.
-
Just gives me a reason to stop watching

...how in the world is this one still on? Do that many people REALLY still watch this show? It hasn't been good, let alone great, for two years. At least Lost got better (sometimes WAY better) after it had a low point. Heroes has just been hovering in the same shallow pool for what seems like an eternity. I've tried multiple times to get back into it but it's just the same awful mess repeated ad nauseum. They just keep doing the same crap over and over - to THEMSELVES no less. Plus, they killed one of the best characters off and focus way too much on some lame convoluted story about the previous generation that AGAIN never goes anywhere. I hope he left because he realized it was pointless. As much as I hate the Abrams "Trek Universe", I'd be 1000 times more interested in seeing what Fuller could do there than in watching him drown in the shallow pool.
-
recognize the fact that Fuller is the only hope this show has - and they don't do WHATEVER IT TAKES to keep him - then fuck em. they deserve to loose him, and they deserve to finish letting this show crumble. sad, consider it had unimaginable potential. no sympathy here, and i guess we're left to the same rollercoaster ride of hope, for quality episodes that we've had for the past few years.
-
... Should care. Why? HEROES is D.O.A
-
And then laugh your way to the bank.
-
If this is the case then I think I'm dunzo as far as Heroes is concerned.
-
i'm curious why you're talking about harry's writing, as this is a hercules written article. i get why you hate heroes - sadly i completely agree with you - but is there something i'm missing that connects harry, heroes, & hercules? not trolling at all, just curious.
-
mr.zedemore is a bitch.wrap him up in seaaon 2 script of Heroes, and you have one big-ass shit burrito
-
I love superheros and I couldn't get through the first 4 episodes of season 2.
-
I hope Fuller enjoys himself when his next fan-adored show gets cancelled. Jesus.
-
Tommy Dolan/Theodore Bagwell doesn't need this show to eat. Somebody set him up with a real job, please.
-
Finally. I was dreading slogging through that shit just to get to some good stuff.
-
i WILL admit that I TUNED IN on season 3-when fuller came abck, and had a fully scripted episode by him, and it ROCKED! but then, in the very epsiode-the shitty writing came back.I'D LOVE for this show to be good again, but it doesn't look good. I SAY keep Peter PETRELLI,sylar, and maybe 1-2 other bad guys-and just jetison the rest. I friggin hate anything with the cheerleader and her dad-that shit is JUST LAME and repetitive. And Mohinmder-they screwed the pooch on his character.just KILL EVERYONE-except peterelli and sylar-and make it work. Petrelli/sylar throwdown is something we ALL still want...so give it to us.Oh yeah, Hiro is cool, he can stay-but do something with him.
-
Heroes needed to have a stable plotline, but we ended up with a mess. And. still no explanation for what happened to Copycat over a season ago. Stupid Stupid Stupid.
-
The show itself seems to be a mess. They seem to be rudderless with a lack of direction for the show. They kill and unkill characters all the time (especially Niki and her sisters and Nathan). There seems to be a lot of behind the scenes drama with actors wanting to leave and former lovers refusing to work together. Other than Grey's Anatomy, there doesn't seem to be a show with less behind the scenes drama.<br><br> Based on the upfronts, it seems that the Heroes heads convinced the network that their decline in ratings is because a poor lead in by Chuck. The problem is they are moving to 8PM against similiar demo shows like House and How I Met Your Mother. Two and a Half Men is more of a ratings giant than HIMYM, but I think the demo skewed a bit older than Heroes does. I think Heroes may be entering it's last season especially with the pricetag and Fuller didn't want to be associated with being the guy who brought it down.
-
It's the right thing to do.

When LOST came out, I refused to watch it because of so much hype. Enough people I trusted liked it, so I gave season 1 a shot when it came out on DVD. it fucking blew my brains out. Final Thought: A show I didn't give any credence to proved my ass wrong, and never stopped kicking my ass.<BR> <BR> When Heroes came out, it was something a lot of us looked forward to: a prime-time, relatively well-produced tv show about super-heroes. Geek heaven. From episode 1, however, the writing was weak, the plotting kind of corny, the production values mediocre at best. Final thought: a show that could have been good that wasn't so much, but everyone wanted to like it so much, they gave it a pass.<BR> <BR> Its demise is long overdue.
-
"I'll never understand the people in these Talkbacks... by rfid Jun 22nd, 2009 03:16:46 PM There's so much hate for Heroes, one of the best genre shows in years, even with its weak points, and yet horrid writing like that in Harry Knowles' articles has fans. -
IT IS OFFICIALLY DONE! WHO THE HELL IS RUNNING THIS SHOW ANYWAYS? I PREDICT A CANCELLATION BY DECEMBER OF THIS YEAR.
-
I've never commented on Heroes before but your daft comment on the haters here continually getting what they asked for, then hating it, is ridiculous. Season 1 was a great series. Not exactly too clever, but a brilliant, enjoyable story with a great ending. And frankly, if we'd known watching that final episode of season 1 what the show was to sink to immediately in season 2, I reckon most people here would rather it had been cancelled then and there - because it has sucked balls ever since. You might want that to be different, but even you know it to be true so it's a bit much of you to expect us all not to bitch about the massive drop in quality.
-
Have a hero who frequently reveals his testicles. Is that too much to ask? I love big testicles. I can't get enough of them. I'm addicted to other men's testicles.
-
Now that's something I can get behind.
-
There's no hope left for this show. Any chance for survival left with Fuller. But even if he does develop some pilots, will they even be picked up? NBC pretty much screwed over scripted shows when they gave that hack Leno the 10pm timeslot.
-
...right outside the geodesic dome on the NBC lot.
-
I've discussed the pros and cons of Heroes intelligently on a fair few other boards, and in real-life. Here? Not so much. <p> People don't discuss it intelligently here, they throw out 'fuck Heroes' and act like that's the be all and end all. </p> <p> There's plenty about Heroes I don't like, I just find the discourse here childish - from Herc on down.
-
Bryan Fuller has too much talent and ambition to work for a creatively bankrupt show.
-
Enjoyed 'em plenty. I like both Lost and Heroes. Heroes is more comic-booky--surprise, surprise--and shows the sort of abrupt switches in tone and direction and manifest re-written rules and history . . . just like most comic books I ever used to read regularly. I love the shout-outs to the geek world. George Takei? Robert Forster? Nichelle Nichols? Unadulterated awesomeness. Yes, lots of inconsistent silliness, but if you watch it like you might read the various runs of a comic book, it tends to work very well.
-
"...all of which will suck as soon as I hand them over to someone else."
-
I finally caught the last episode of Pushing Daisies the other night, and despite being a rather rushed affair, it had at least some closure. Now, with more retrospection, I think Pushing Daisies should have had a planned end date. It never failed to amuse me, but the last episodes were a little blah. I'm hopeful that Bryan Fuller is ditching HEROES, as I ditched it last Season, and did not even bother to see what he did with that MESS! It's just unrecoverable, it's a suicide ZERO about to hit the deck, sooner or later. HEROES was a mirage; nothing of substance.
-
Thanks!

Wow, he finally had to admit that this show was shit!
by HollywoodHellraiser
And there was nothing he could do to save it!<p>Seems somebody jumped off the Titanic before it was too late!
-
Now Fuller can focus his attention on something worthwhile.
-
Is this the same audience who didn't return for his comeback episode?
-
fuck you NBC! soon you'll be wishing you had better viewing figures then the cw
-
I'll agree the level of debate here is almost non-existent, but there are those willing to talk about pro's and con's without the usual denigrating comments. I simply have a different view to you - in that what could have been a superb show - and indeed what was a superb show for its first season - degenerated into a badly written, weakly characterised mess seemingly in the hiatus between seasons 1 and 2. It's only gotten worse since then, and I don't see where we - the haters - were ever given what we 'asked for' by the producers. We asked for an increase in quality, not a 'throw everything in plus the kitchen sink' approach to save the show. It wouldn't have needed saving if they'd put a bit more quality writing into series 2 from the start. I personally think we're going through a great time for television - all the awful reality shows and general cheapness in quality aside of the bulk, we're getting more high quality and consistently great shows popping up here and there than ever before - plus the stigma of television for 'actors' is diminishing due to that, and as such we're getting more and more quality actors hitting the small screen. Carnivale, BSG, Deadwood, The Shield, True Blood, Lost, Jericho, Generation Kill, Band of Brothers and so on are just of the last decade that mark a real shift in quality, and Heroes looked like it might have been up there too.....I think it's a real shame the producers flushed it down the U-bend the way they did. They've got no excuse for it being so poor right now, and it's certainly not the fault of those of us critiquing it.
-
LOL, and to all those Heroes fans who used to bash LOST. Sucks to be you, lol.
-
I'd say it is the fault of those who said 'more action' during S2. Most of the online complaint after the S1 finale was to that regard. Heroes thought 'that' was the solution. It wasn't. <p> The intelligent discourse? Not so much used.
-
We did bash Lost, up until the end of S3. It became good again in S4. That's over forty eps from 201 to 322 where it veered from awesome to shit depending on the week.
-
I remember the forum that used to say Lost was a GONER and all that bullshit!<p>Well look who laughing now!<p>Poor NBC Leno maybe your last hope...NOT!
-
Again, Lost only really regained focus and meaning IN S4. Even the producers admit S2/S3 was stalling.
-
Fuck.
-
When Fuller was still on board, I was only committed to watching the season premiere to decide if I will continue watching this show. Now I'll just decide based on Herc's review. It's looking like this show is dead to me.
-
I haz it.
-
June 22, 2009, 5:17 p.m. CST
Lost still sucks, Heroes going down the tube doesn't change that
by BadMrWonka
Lost is crack, you have to keep going back because you're addicted, not because the show is good in any meaningful way. <p>face it, you would suck dick for Lost. The West Wing was a great show. Seinfeld was a great show. Lost is just a gimmick that keeps getting people with addictive personalities to come back every week and buy the DVD's.<p>I bet you all like Crash, too, right? Crash is the Lost of the movie world. there's no there there.
-
Well? Huh, huh, well?
-
Season one offered such potential. Then they pissed it all away. Toss in directionless characters, kill them off when you have no idea how to use them. Patch each season to cover up the fact season ones direction was totally ignored. <p> Sad, that both Heroes and Lost suffer from the exact same problems.
-
Must be cruising the strip.
-
buty zedemore-we're all here to post O P I N I O N S. I fucking HATE the show NOW-and i guess even overall.I'ts GREAT to have a show about superheroes...in the realworlds.GREAT.But its fucking TORTURE to have that one show suck ass.And Heroes used to GREAT.season 1 is ALMOST perfect. But beginning with Sylar zapping a can of spinach at the onset of volume 2....well..i died a lil that day..and so did heroes. IT'S progressively gotten worse. It's like watching a reeeeal sloooow car accident.it's there, but we just can't do shit bout it.yata motherfucker!
-
Hope he still goes through with that.

-
Herc, there's a big difference between a STAR and someone you like. Try this on for size, the star writer-producer of such canceled series as Pushing Daisies and Wonderfalls along with the little seen cable drama, Dead Like Me. That sounds like a star to me.
-
Script Girl is pretty.
-
Yes, Lost did not invent the flashback/flashforward structure in fiction, but "Company Man" came along with a very similar vibe to Lost. And it worked great, it was a great, emotional episode, but you can clearly see where the genesis of it is. Besides, all this yakity yak about Fuller's great "Pushing Daises" and "Wonderfalls" and "Saving Heroes" and yadda is missing what is, truly, his BEST script: Voyager's "Bride of Chaotica!"
-
Heroes is crap anyway.
-
There were definitely some stalling episodes in those two seasons, but watching them straight through on DVD shows that the seasons actually hold up quite well. LOST really works better as a really long movie to watch in one or two sittings than it does as a tv series to watch over the course of 20 or so weeks.
-
good debate fellas. The main gripe I have with heroes is that it SHOULD have me enthralled every week. It's basically x-men with hot cheerleaders, hot vegas chicks who are real dirty, and (in season 1 at least) a villain that was a classic from the get-go. But, I stopped watching when some Irish geezers wanted their eye-pods. How did they fuck up a show with such a cast iron solid premise?
-
My gripe exactly. It really does amaze me quite how badly the show slipped, plenty of shows vary in quality over their runs but I've never seen one go from so good to so bad. Let alone so quickly.
-
24 is full of the most stupid terrorists equal by the same amount of idiotic special agents. And Jack Bauer can sell his B.O. in bottle and spray it it the face of terrorism. 7 times he has solved international terror cases in 24 hours the most stupidist notion in human history.
-
We need something new to complain about.
-
Just like the writing most of the time on Heroes.

Heroes schmeros, Spectacular Spidey Season 2 on RIGHT NOW
by BrandLoyalist
It's on Disney XD this very second, and possibly again at midnight? Guide info ambiguous. It's been a great Spidey toon so far. Two season 2 eps tonight, looks like. <br><br> I think I have posted incorrect premier dates and schedule info about The Spectacular Spider-Man under Herc's column here like 3 times :^/ but seeing is believing. Tip off was a Toon Zone post.
-
First, that white space is annoying, but you do it like this.. <br><br> < br > but with no spaces. It's a "break". <br><br> Next, all good TV is crack. Nothing new about that. But Lost crack wasn't all that addicting. Many people actually stopped watching weekly during BOTH season 2 and 3 and waited to watch large chunks on DVD or DVRs. There is no way around the fact that the series is more enjoyable that way, especially during it's low/slow points. It's got an insane core audience, but as has been mentioned already, a lot of people gave up hope many times until S4 stepped it up again. <br><br> Too much generalizing by people who clearly didn't read the entire talkback before deciding bash people who don't use the talkback in a manner they approve of. Which is just as annoying and rude as the people who do use it to constantly bash. Ya know?
-
Great and half-decent shows get canned and Heroes lives. Where's the fucking justice?
-
Seriously, Season 3 was amazing, the only really "bad" episode was the tattoo one.
-
It comparison to S2, S3 it was definitely better. Not sure I liked it quite as much as you, but it did move me to set the DVR to catch S4. I'd still put S3 below S1 and S4, though.
-
Why that show doesn't have a huge following I'll never know! <p>wittiest geek show I've ever seen. Watch it! Its like an animated Spaced with super scientists, villains and henchmen, James Bond, and a high body count :)
-
Little Bo Peep outfit of course
-
amazing 1st season. imho, one of the 10, maybe even 5 best seasons on tv. evar. there may be people who saw the the pilot and didn't get hooked. but if you saw walkabout, you watched the rest of the season 1. it's that simple. the ending was sort of a letdown (mind you, not in the extend that heroes' 1st season finale was) <p> disappointing 2nd season: wasn't bad, but far from the greatness of s01. some great moments like desmond's introduction; "we're gonna need to watch that again"; henry motherfrakkin' gale and so on. <p> godawful beginning of 3rd season: first 7 episodes almost made me stop watching (and caused a lot of my friends to do so). but then came flashes before your eyes... and all was well with the world again. from then on, it just got better and stronger, with excellent s03 finale (the best one yet), and very strong seasons 04 & 05. <p> now, you could argue that lost jumped the shark (with or without dharma logo) with flashes before your eyes, and its intro to time travel. but you could also argue that, if writers haven't gone in that direction, we would get a few more episodes about marks on jack's body and an early cancellation.
-
...a figurative 'dead man walking'? I'd expect HEROES to have a mid-season replacement, and it'll be gone for good. What to watch for is where NBC moves it on their schedule. If you see it moving around, and then it lands on a Friday or Saturday night, it's toast.
-
twenty four! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! <p> :(
-
I distinctly remember a few months ago somebody in these Talkbacks said that the word in the industry was that Fuller was probably not going to stick through the entire 4th season. Looks like Fuller got out before the 4th season even begins.
-
WITH THE GIANT FUCKING JUGS. OH MY. THERE SHOULD BE A SPIN OFF WHERE SHE LOSES THAT HORRIBLE STUPID FUCKING POWER AND GETS THE ABILITY TO CRUSH HUGE GIRDERS OF IRON WITH HER FABULOUS TITS. I CAN SEE THAT GOING ON FOR 6 OR 7 SEASONS WITH NO WORRIES.
-
she's hanging around with caitlin, taskmaster girl, claires gay friends (john connor and flyboy), sylars brother and dr. who <p> word on the street is, they're having a blast.

BURN NOTICE!
-
then H Pantyairs can lease her forehead out as a parking lot, or a drive-in screen, or a south seas atoll
-
And if they don't have a servicable villian, a coherent plotline and a definitive goal for the season finale, I'm bailing on this motherfucker and never looking back.
-
But semi-seriously, folks...
-
...it's always sucked, with or without him. Nothing to see here, people, go about your business.

In DC for Invisible Children Lobby Days, and I'm stunned.
by PennsyDeux
I didn't think he'd bail. But he didn't do any good anyways. 9 of the 10 lowest-rated episodes of Heroes were from Fugitives' arc, and Fuller's own episode ranks as #2 all time lowest. <p> Get the fork ready.
-
I've watched both dead like me and pushing daisies. I really liked the shows. What I found more intriguing was the ideas and the mythologies behind the shows. As the shows kept going on, the characters got more out of character and mythology aspects yield less upon further examination. This is all to say that maybe Brian Fuller really can't deliver more than a handful of solid episodes. Not saying the Heroes is better without him. But maybe now Heroes can die by mid-season. Which will open the door for a better show along the same lines in the future.
-
How the hell does The Venture Brothers not have a massive following?<p> I love Lost, but the ever expanding Venture-verse is the most entertaining thing on tv. And how many other shows have failure as the central theme?<p> New episodes start in October, so there is plenty of time to catch up.
-
its shitty and stupid
-
BURN NOTICE!
-
the first season was entertaining. the second season and on were a mutated living abortion.

Smallville was better in season EIGHT than Heroes was in season
by Nasty In The Pasty
That's pretty fucking sad. Most genre shows are just hitting their creative stride by season 3, but Heroes blew it's wad at the end of its first season, and everything since has been progressively worse.

It just me, or does the reserved parking sign look like a grave
by Ricyteach
at least a first glance? strangely appropriate.
-
Just curious: has he written any episodes of 30 Rock, Samantah Who, or House?
-
Please let Heroes be completely cancelled and for Chuck to finally take over. Last season was spectacular and I don't want to wait until March for more of Sarah.
-
The guy clearly can't make up his mind. The will he stay or will he go business is ridiculous.
-
I've been watching Heroes since the beginning. Even though I watch I thought the show was and is overhyped. To me this show has been the same since the beginning. So I don't what all this criticism that it has changed from the first season is all about. It's the same shit every time.
-
Pretty much sequentially. And I just don't have the problems with it that most of the complainers here do, but that may be why. I also don't have the problems with lost, and have no objection, or preference, for any season over any other season. But then, I watched season 1-4 over the span of about a month, in a row, until I caught up with season 5.<Br><br>Seriously, both heroes and Lost--but especially lost, which does indeed become addictive--work extremely well if you watch a whole lot of them in a row, and come into them cold. Seriously, I had never seen an episode of either show. Then I just watched every episode available.<br><br>House, which I had seen a lot of, worked pretty well watching every episode back-to-back, but eventually I O.D.'ed on the episodic House formula. Still love the show, I just have to take a break for a while.
-
But At Different Times. All the pain and trouble of a divorce, but none of the benefits.

AND HE WENT TO A BAR AND PROBABLY HIT ON A LOT OF CHICKS.

Quick! Anyone who has access to the area go put flowers on his parking space.

Why don't you pick up "Pushing Daisies"? Heroes is lost, and nobody cares about Chuck. Jay Leno? If you want only the 70-100 demographic, then sure, put him on at 10. I will make sure that neither of my DVR tuners have NBC on them at 10:00
-
Heroes has been mediocre since Day 1, so don't give me that bullshit line. You want to know what's "still better than 90% of what's on TV" even at a low point? Twin Peaks. The Wire. Buffy. Angel. Shows like THAT. Heroes was never in the same league, NEVER. maxwells_hammer is absolutely correct: "Final thought: a show that could have been good that wasn't so much, but everyone wanted to like it so much, they gave it a pass."
-
and strangely stays poop.
-
And by the way, fuck Kate Goselin.
-
It just keeps building and building and tantalizing and revealing more and more as it progresses, leading all the way up to that fantastic finale.
-
was great because it was 10% superpowers 90% realworld mystery... then it just went batshit insane.
-
...is a better use of his talents, than trying to jump-start Heroes yet again. Look forward to any Pilot he's working on. And hope Star Trek happens, It would be a great time to spin off a new Kirk-era TV show, while the new movie series is doing well.
-
Makes me a sad Panda. Kings is awesome.
-
Looks like it's going to be cancelled at some point next season then.<br><br> I only just finished watching season 3, I had all the episodes in backlog and I just couldn't be bothered to finish watching them. Sounds like season 4 will be the same.
-
It could become a PR nightmare for NBC. No joke.
-
You know, like everyone that worked on this piss poor show did. What happened to the Irish chick? "The writer's strike happened, we couldn't get to that" What happened to Monica? "The writer's strike happened, we couldn't get to that". Why did you kill off or wrote off everyone that appeared in season 2? "The writer's strke happened, and well...uh...we hoped everyone would forget about season 2. Hell, we sure as shit did."
-
the first 7 episodes of season 3 because it was utter crap. I think I will catch up with the seasons I missed on dvd before the last one.
-
Fuller was its ONLY hope. If he's gone, then it's FUCKED.
-
Heroes is a huge rip off of X-Men. We all know this. So just cancel Heroes and get an X-Men series going. The stories are already there in the form of the comics and one thing Heroes showed is that the powers can be done on the small screen. <p> Also, don't keep continuity with the movies. As much as I liked the first 2 films, I say start fresh. <p> Season 1 - introduce the characters and go up against Magneto. <p> Season 2 - Mutant Registration, Genosha and Sentinals. <p> Season 3 - Sinister. <p> Season 4 - Dark Phoenix <p> Season 5 - Apocalypse. and Legacy virus, <p> Rather than a full 22 eps, make it 13 per season...8 that focus on the main plot, 5 that focus on individual characters (a Wolverine episode, a Gambit episode during the Sinister arc etc); <p> Fox owns the movie rights so let them do what they want with that. But I think TV rights are retained by Marvel, so have at it.
-
matter of time now, the show will never have solid ratings again. <P> and they just lost any of the returning audience since we only came back to see if fuller could make the show watchable again.
-
you were the best thing on tv. NBC had you and didn't realise what a fantastic show you had become. I hope the time traveller wife becomes a monster hit, so NBC can fucking SUCK IT. <p> i miss journeyman, i can't bear to re watch my saved episodes, because it gets so could and i know its going to fucking end. Schadenfreude maybe but i'm glad that everyone has started to realise what a turd heroes is.</p>
-
I remember that a mini-series was in development at one point, but it never went anywhere.
-
It will continue to be shit.
-
was ten thousand times better than heroes on it's best episode, and NBC took a massive shit on it. AND they keep this craptrain full of wet lumps rolling along shitting on other great shows like Chuck. Fuck these people.
-
Either one.
-
"...how in the world is this one still on?"<p>Just as quickly as a series is considered a failure and subsequently dumped, they can just as quickly be heralded as "the #1 new show on television" and get a full-season pick-up and ride that hype for another season or 2 (or 3).
-
When commenting on "Jon & Kate Plus Eight", and Jon's obvious misery, said to tune in next year for the spin-off "Jon Minus Nine".
-
Fuller should be running his own show (hopefully original and not Trek v2), not trying to resuscitate Kring's. Glad to see that's happening.

Reflecto nailed it! that overplayed line about..
by HollywoodHellraiser
"so-so show is still better than 90% of the shows on tv" is an excuse, especially where Heroes is involved.<p>Heroes was NEVER better than any percentage of shows on tv so that BS!<p>And yes NBC fucked up by cancelling Journeyman which had a growing fanbase ready for season 2 and then they fucking cancelled it!<p>Now look at the patehtic shape of NBC today! LOL
-
Warners make some extra cash, get BKV to be showrunner, limited at 15 eps per season for 3 seasons.<p> Storytelling has been done for you, BKV knows how to write for TV, his Lost friends will need some work too.
-
I really rooted for Heroes, even when it was awful. But I have to agree with you. Journeyman never got the chance it deserved and could have developed into a classic series instead of just a missed opportunity with a great start and premature finish. Instead we have a network having a love affair with a failing show they keep throwing cash at. It's a good thing NBC doesn't run the country. They'd be spending billions making the same mistakes over and over hoping for different resul..... oops. Yeah, so more of the same.

Not a lot of promise for network tv once Lost finishes
by Miyamoto_Musashi
-
Fuller being there was about the only thing they might have had going for themselves this season, although he didn't exactly make everything all better at the end of last season either. Clearly he's happier making new series that get canceled halfway through their initial order, so more power to him.
-
Please cancel this show, please. Likewise if Fuller takes over Trek. Trek belongs to writers and creators like J.J. and J.M.S who stick with their babies to the end. Let me guess the first episode will be entitled save the animalwoman save the world and in the second season he leaves to join the new hit "Fuller" tv show Buck Rogers.
-
need a few good movies first
-
...and shape season 4 to wrap things up and bring as much closure as they can manage. Show some respect to the fans and try to wrap up some loose ends and not end it with a fucking cliffhanger that will never get resolved, as was done with other shows like Journeyman or Sarah Conner Chronicles, both of which were clearly not getting renewed at the time they wrote and filmed their "season finale". Heroes will be lucky to have a half season of 13 episodes to bring closure to the whole thing, so I hope they don't treat it like season 3 and give us an open-ended story arc for that first half with hopes of wrapping things up in a second half-season.
-
I feel bad for the HEROES cast and crews. They've been screwed by a crap writing staff. Overworked my ass, Fuller knew he better move on. What a shame, HEROES really could have been interesting had the writing been better all along.
-
Hayden really wanted off this show so she can move on to her budding movie career (yeah right), and I think Zachary Quinto was getting tired of it too. He has a more promising future thanks not only to his popularity as Sylar, but also a well-received performance as Spock.
-
His tv record speaks for itself.
-
Who cares..that show blows... Fuck NBC...can't wait for it to be canceled so they can do great programming like Night Rider and more 1/2 sitcoms that no one watches. Oh and cancel all the good shows at 10 so the Chin Leno can have a show that will tank in 6 weeks

"creators like J.J. and J.M.S who stick with their babies to the end."<p> JJ? Um, excuse me sir have you ever heard of a show called Lost? And hell, was JJ even with Alias at the end of its run? Come on. I'm a fan of the guy but sticking with shows isn't exactly his MO nowadays.
-
kill Claire. Fuller's departure #2 is the final blow.
-
- they can screw it up. It is so easy to know how to save this show. Surely TV land has good writers other than Fuller?? Seriously...otherwise I'll take the job!
-
How could they even have a trek TV show with the bizarre time travel thing they did in the movie? They'd either have to get the movie cast to do TV, which seems highly unlikely, or create a show about some other non-enterprise ship out there in that same time frame, which no one would care about since we never heard about ships as mythic as the Enterprise in the other "future" trek series. You can't move to a future "more current" time period given how Abrams' retarded "reboot" destroys what we know of the next few hundred years, and you can't use stuff from the old universe since it no longer exists. I don't get how a new TV show would work. If they could get the new cast to do TV, I'd watch that but that would be nearly impossible for at least a couple of the actors.<br><br>(And don't give me some nonsense about this is an alternate universe, so they can still use the old one. That spiel has already proven to be complete b.s. that they fudged to make people feel better. It has been shown that they just changed the timeline like the other 10 million star trek time travel stories before it. There's no goutee-universe, yesterday's enterprise, etc. alternate universe stuff going on.)
-
of trek spinoffs.
-
I think Heroes has maintained a fairly constant level of quality. The bulk of the 3rd season was about the same as the bulk of the 1st season; mediocre, with a few decent episodes.<p> The major problems with the 1st season weren't evident, because they were acceptable as part of a buildup; hanging plot threads, teases, unclear motivations. That can all be great as a precursor.<p> However, it soon became clear (mainly with the season 1 finally) that the show would never actually move to the next step. The characters would never man up. The teases and story hooks dropped would never be resolved, would never mean anything. There was no big arc, Heroes will only meander from point to point.<p> It's like if, in the Spider-man comic, the origin story stopped after the 'Peter tries to become a pro-wrestler' segment, and the remainder of the comic consisted of Peter trying to make money, date Betty Brant, and be occasionally conflicted about whether he was special or not.
-
the biggest fault in Vol. 3 - the characters jump motivation shamelessly from one cause to the next, mostly for the sake of twists. I get it, I GET IT! Lots of depowering, repowering, resurrections, deaths, etc. But, for crissakes, have any of you people who bitch actually sat down and read a comic book series for a long while? Or do you just go see Spider-Man and maybe have read The Dark Knight, once. The craziness and constant, unbelievable twists THAT is true to the comic book source, okay? Actually read comics instead of being a poser, then you'll know where the show is comming from.
-
toby wong? toby choo? toby choo, fucking charlie chan.Im sick of hearing it.I got madonna's big dick coming outa my left ear and toby-the-jap-i dont know who outta the other!

I love how you left all that blank space in your post defending "Heroes". All that emptiness symbolizes exactly what sucks about the show now. Remember in Season One when the characters did things because they had motivation instead of because the story had to move forward?<br /> <br /> Poetically, speaking the show hit its peak when Isaac died, a disturbing scene that was also strangely beautiful. A characteristic we saw all the time in shows like Buff and, Battlestar but NEVER see in Heroes anymore (except for Parkman's sky waltz in Cold Snap).<br /> <br /> Honestly, I wish Heroes had been cancelled after its first year. Then we'd all be saying how great it would have been if only the network had had some vision and renewed it. Little we knew.<br /> <br /> Similarly, I kind of wish Eddie Murphy had been murdered by a crazy fan in 1988, right before "Coming to America" came out. We'd all be saying, "Poor Eddie! He was so talented. Imagine how many great movies he'd have made if he'd lived."<br /> <br /> Little we knew...
-
... if I ever got the chance. In fact, fixing it is easy. <p><p>1. avoid dumb dialogue and things that normal people would NEVER say. <p><p>2. get rid of lame characters. Morehinder adds nothing to the overall story and is one of the greatest perpetrators of doing dumb shit that no human of even average intelligence would do. <p><p>3. don't hide the good shit! Battles that happen off-camera? LAME! If #2 is followed (salaries = biggest single expense), that would free up funds to focus more on the eye-candy... which is critical for such a high-concept show. <p><p>4. (now this is a biggie) WRITE BETTAH!! With less dumb characters there is room to focus on the remaining (and hopefully) best characters. One key is to write the stories as if there was no high-concept. For example, The Dark Knight is a very successfully executed maker; it works if you remove the costumes. In fact, Company Man is a good example; it was a solid story that could stand on its own without special effects. <p><p> There are other points, but those are the biggies. But alas... I will never get a shot at it...

"That spiel has already proven to be complete b.s. that they fudged to make people feel better. It has been shown that they just changed the timeline like the other 10 million star trek time travel stories before it." Uh, how do you "prove" something to be true or untrue in a fictional universe?
-
<p>I was going to stop watching this show, until I heard Fuller was coming back. So I shouldn't bother with S4. On the other hand, most of the shows I watch have been canceled in the last year, so beggars can't be choosers. So conflicted.</p> <p>I think NBC should hire BrannigansLaw (or just about anyone on this TB) for quality control. Stupid, unrealistic characters drag this show down. And viewers have had blue balls ever since the S1 finale, so give us one decent fight already. I mean, just one. Is that so fucking hard? I would also add it's difficult to live vicariously through characters who just want to live like us schleps. Enough with whiny superheros who can't appreciate their good luck!</p>

He did direct a few episodes as well as compose the intro music. I think J.M.S. script-writing, Sam Raimi directing and J.J. producing the next Trek TV series would be the obvious choice for the best in tems of quality. Raimi's Hercules show had that old Trek feeling to it. Perhaps because roman/greek mythology played a much greater role if any in the latter series. It should be filmed in New Zealand with the costume/set designers of Xena/Lord of the Rings to get that old earth look/feel that Enterprise seriously lacked.
-
I can't stands no more.
-
... about the whiny characters. They are impossible to relate to. Some say that there is no difference between the first season and the rest; they say we're just romanticizing the first season. Not true. <p><p> It was easier to relate to the characters in first season because they were, well... more relate-able. Their motivations were much clearer. For example, relating to Peter was easier because he had visions of flying and romanticized it, just as a normal human would. But in second season, he lost his memory (WTF?!) and, even so, acted outside the norms of what would be expected (E.G. if you discover you have a power and people are holding you captive, use your fuckin' power!!!). It became impossible to relate to the character, which greatly magnified the flaws that he already had. <p><p>Unfortunately, there are so many examples of missed opportunities with EVERY CHARACTER. In fact, the only character that seemed to perform consistently and inside the norms of expected behavior was Mr. Muggles! <p><p>Having said that, this show is fixable. I'd love to tackle this as a graphic novel to illustrate this point, but unfortunately, I don't have enough free time.
-
Just like Dead Like Me and Pushing Daisies. Both original concepts, lost a lot of steam by the third and fourth episodes. Pushing Daisies I felt lost its charm because there was no real place to go.
-
i wont even bother watching it online<p> and nicegoogly, you are an idiot...truly
-
"...to the overall story and is one of the greatest perpetrators of doing dumb shit that no human of even average intelligence would do."<p>Like hang out for 3 years in your dead father's apartment and never once enquire if he might have had a storage area?

I'm a fan of Fuller, but I know there are other good writers out there to keep Heroes going. And long live Heroes! It's awesome. I see a lot of Fuller praising on this site, and I'm about to watch Pushing Daisies for the first time. I have high expectations.
-
writing movies. That way, it's an hour and a half and done. Why does he stick to the small screen? To fix this show all you need to do is: 1.) Have Nathan turn into Sylar, He kills Peter and Claire and pretty much everyone, and then right when he goes to kill Angela, she wakes up in time a jail cell where Nathan comes to bail her out for stealing socks. We could start fresh.
-
He was the only thing that could have made me care.
-
Well, proven as far as these things can ever be proven, by consensus of opinions of folks who can be considered knowledgeable in the area of trek canon. The arguments for any sort of trek-style alternate dimensions were, at best, shallow and, at worst, retarded. <br><br> You're not a loser, Fast Eddie, you're a winner. Some men never get to feel that way about anything.
