New Screen Shots Of The AVATAR Game, + A Bit More!!
SPOILER ALERT !!
THE INFORMATION BELOW MAY BE CONSIDERED SPOILERS BY SOME, SO TREAD CAREFULY!!!
Merrick here...
The Daily Telegraph has three new screenshots from the game that'lll accompany AVATAR's release. The images originate HERE, where a few quotes from producer Jon Landau can be found as well as this thumbnail description of the film:
Using the same designers and artists on both projects, the landscapes feature lush rainforests with 300m-tall trees, floating mountain ranges and massive stone arches, The Daily Telegraph reports.
Avatar is set in the 22nd century on a moon called Pandora which orbits a giant gas planet and where humans can't breathe the air.
A paralysed marine played by Australian actor Sam Worthington agrees to exist as an Avatar, a genetically engineered hybrid controlled with a mental link.

Something, that Bio something game. Meets Turok the Dinosaur hunter.
-
I got to bag it up.
-
Did the haunting convince even sceptics? And why is it that even though I love everything Cameron's made since 1984, that I have zero fucking interest in this film?
-
If this flick succeeds, it'll be on the merits of it's execution, not it's concept.
-
Looks old-school. Love it.
-
without you promoting the fuck out it thanks. Yes we know and we have seen it. it's great.
-
I thought it was stated somewhere that the vegetation on the planet would be a purplish hue and not the typical green? I'm definitely one for substance over style, so I'll wait to pass judgment until I see how well the story is played out, but nothing to me stands out about the design; definitely nothing worth the 12 years of anticipation for another Cameron film. Lush, green jungle? Okay. Mechs? Okay. CGI creatures? Okay. Nothing exactly spells groundbreakingly original to me, but like I said, I'll wait to pass judgment on how good the actual content is...

So are they really trying with this game? Or is it just a...
by flickapoo
...merchandising cash grab like most movie based games.
-
Now, how about a trailer? Or a poster? Anything from the actual MOVIE???
-
...they can steal visuals from the movie...but control, move, and play for poop. A good one would be nice.
-
Ok, but not as good as EVIL DEAD films. I reccomend it, but I have to admit I was a little let down as I expected more. AVATAR looks like a good time, however.
-
The moon becomes bio-luminescent when the sun goes down. So green and lush during the day, purple and blue during the night.

These shots look like leftovers from the Phantom Menace!
by theycallmemrtibbs
Is that Jar Jar?
-
wrong Avatar movie
-
They're not shots from the film, they're art from the video game.
-
yeah another sanctuary...these shots look pretty good.
-
they look nothing like TPM!!! stop trying to be cool.
-
Fucking sucks. There I said it again.
-
I don't want to see these shots yet. I skipped down over them to type this. A video game is generally a less-enticing, less-interesting rendition of a movie anyway.
I'll wait for the trailer. -
Hoping that the movie is even better
-
you got some lo level job in marketing at Universal Pictures or something?
-
trying humming that while looking at those screenshots...reminds me of NAVY SEALS golf!
-
better when I first saw it -- in Hellboy. Or maybe it was Predator...

is that supposed to be the Manticore or the viper wolf thing with the detachable head?
-
MASSIVE STONE ARCHES...
MASSIVE AWESOMENESS!!! -
Fucking your tastebuds in 2009.
-
When the camera first pans up to reveal the MASSIVE STONE ARCHES do you think Cameron will treat us to the warbling notes of the Exotic Wailing Bitch.
Eyeball fucking and ear fucking at the same time... awesome. -
From an engineering perspective those MASSIVE STONE ARCHEStm would be a bitch to build. It's all about the keystone of course, but still... they are fucking massive.
-
hits... i bet it'll be amazing
-
Six Demon Bag, what do you think of the MASSIVE STONE ARCHES? Are they how you pictured them from the scriptment? I personally didn't think they would be quite 'that' massive.
-
It'll be a typical AICN talkback; Some people overly defensive about it, others hating it for no reason, and the occasional sane person talking sense to the eccentric screwballs who roam this site. At least there'll be some laughs along the way.
-
This snippet also says AVATAR features 'floating mountain ranges'.
What does this mean? Anyone understand this? -
MASSIVE STONE ARCHES I get.
'Floating mountain ranges' I do not. -
And as such will suck.
-
put into it...
Ubisoft has been making this almsot as long as the movie. It's its own story that takes place before the film and apparently they plan to release it before the movie. It'll be similar to the Matrix Reloaded and Enter the Matrix in that regard except event won't be happening as the same time as the film I don't think. Also the film and game crews have been sharing assets a lot and designing things for each other so this is a much more involved undertaking than any of your typical movie games... Also it'll be playable in 3D... that is if you've got an HDTV that's capable of running it and I bet 90% of HDTV owning people do not... -
the floating mountain ranges are incredibly high, higher than the massive trees, and create a canopy effect on the moon's surface.
You can see some of them in the concept art that was released a few weeks ago. -
I am getting more interested in this film. I am still not buying into the whole eyeball fucking bs, but Cameron is a gifted film maker and I can't see him getting involved with anything that would suck.
-
in fact, if you look at the bottom picture and right behind the firing airship, you can see one of the floating mtns in the background.
-
Meh. That is all.
-
artwork. Good stuff. Can't wait to see what Weta, ILM, Framestore, and BUF do with the visuals.
-
look at his use of color! why do they always have to announce dinner like it's a damn cavalry charge read them and weep boysi'm from minnesota spit like a man i can still smell the fresh paintlike a thousand knives cal!i'm sure if any of you are familiar with the work of dr. freud! picasso is like somebody's nightmare! modernism & boners.

i love ham and cheese! i love mac n cheese why do humans cry? what is wrong with your eyes? that it is totally you i cannot suicide myself! i cannot tie this rope around my balls! stop it !
-
This movie will be fucking people out of their money the same way the Phantom menace did. So much hype for so little pay off. District 9 already blows this abortion of Halo and Jurassic Park out of the water. The only eyeball fucking going on in this film will be the people who already love it keeping their eyes glued open watching it waiting for the cool shit to actually take place. Set up 2 TVs side by side and watch Titan AE and JP3 will likely induce the same effect
-

Come on James, I thought you were a visionary?
-
You nailed my sediments exactly! FACT: Cameron at his absolute worst is better than most directors at their pinnacle of achievement. AVATAR may not fuck my eyeballs, but I have no doubt it will at least give them an intense and satisfying fingering...
-
That the fish thing in the last picture looks a lot like the Opee sea killer ("goober fish") from The Phantom Menace. Not trying to say it's a copy just that it does look a lot like it.
-
congrats! Fresh spin on the running eyeball-fucking gag by going back to the one of the best Simpsons episodes of all time. Unless you aren't the first to use that, I can't be bothered to stay up on the state of Avatar-fucked-my-eyeballs joke art.
-
Sorry to screw up your screen name
-
He doesn't forget the characters and he doesn't forget the story.
I had this argument with a friend who detests Titanic. Seriously - even if you just plain dislike the hamfisted and slightly emotionally overbearing pull of the characters in the film, you couldn't never accuse him of letting the CGI (or indeed the practical diving employed) overwhelm them - and considering at the time they were amazing in their scale and scope thats an impressive feat.
The same could be said of Aliens, T2, Abyss and True Lies. The action and effects never detract from the story he's trying to tell - whether you like that story or not. I happen to like to stories Cameron whats to tell and thats why I have faith in Avatar. -
shakes fist at sky for drinking two beers and the lack of an edit function
-
Imagery in video games has long been more fantastic and over-the-top than most movies, so I think what would be amazing in a movie looks simply typical when translated to a game.
Same thing happens between comics and film. -

Pic 3 is a real Fish Outta Water, eh? HeHe. Ya know, Fish outta
by azultool
*sigh*...yeah
-
Absolutely spot on. I have a lot of problems with Titanic but Cameron never overwhelmed the story with the spectacle.
In a world where Star Trek can get good BO and rave reviews Avatar is going to blow the fucking roof off. -
Not sure if you're being sarcastic. If you're not, thanks. If you are, that's cool too. "Real acid? Uh-ohhhh........"
-
Opinions are like assholes, everyone's got one....In other words...... Fuck you.
If I see this Cameron Bullshit and it reminds me of some other Bullshit I've seen before then thats MY opinion. " The shit look like leftovers from Phantom Menace! There-- I said it again!
Stop trying to be cool?" How old are you seven? WHAT?-- are you trying to be cool in front of the rest of the talkbackers on the playground by trying to put me on the spot? Please---Your arms are too short to box with Zod.
And By the way... Its "Theycallmemrtibbs" like you know..."ATRIBECALLEDQUEST" or a "Pimpnamedsweatback" one word. -
I'm biased here because I love Cameron's work. But the reason WHY I love it so much is because he just "gets it." Think back on each of his movies AS they first opened, and you can see a guy that has always tried to push things forward, make the best use of whatever technology is available to him at the time, put it to its best use, and then put together a kick ass film. And he clearly has the personal drive to try and top himself each time out.Cameron "gets it." He obviously loves movies and the process of making them, and you're fucking kidding yourself if you don't think in the time since he made TITANIC that he hasn't been sitting back and just watching and absorbing everything that everyone else has been doing, all the while making plans to top them. Looking at the game images we've seen to date, which simply give a hint to some of the design elements, I'm betting that AVATAR is going to be visually mind-blowing on the big screen, and when Cameron does what he does best...let the thing kick into high gear and break out the action...the roof is going to blow off the theater.
-
I've been so excited for this movie, and this is what it looks like? That suit looks like a reject form mechwarior and that propeler plane looks like a shitty bug!
-
I just figured out why this looks so bad. Its because the same concept designers that worked on the Phantom Menace,War of the Worlds, Star Trek, Transformers etc are working on this! They should be fired immediately if not sooner!
-
But, shit, I just can't get excited. That said, I'm willing to give it a go, no matter how underwhelmed I am by the plot synopsis or the images that have been coming out. Still, there are a lot of people rooting for this thing to fail, as there were with Titanic, but this time I think they'll succeed.
-
Oversized Vegetation
Oversized Bugs
Weird looking creatures Hopping around
Robots and flying machines
This stuff look like stills from the Star Wars: Battle Front 2 video game (Which was highly underrated in my opinion.) Only more detailed. I'm not saying the movies' going to be crap or anything, I don't know. I'm just saying the stuff I'm seeing so far looks familiar.

DON'T WORRY, BIG JIMMY C. IS GONNA BRING IT.
by total fucking destruction
and when I say bring it, I mean TOTAL FUCKING DESTRUCTION.
-
yet again some moron just blathers on and on and on, usually in a cameron TB...you say it reminds you of TPM...HOW THE FUCK DOES IT DO THAT??? back it up, thats all im saying. to me, it looks like you're trying to "get TB cred" by shitting on two films at once"--so fucking cool dude.i can see how it reminds you of tatooine, i do, i really do.
-
...The sun emerges over the landscape. Darkness becomes light. Their eyes squint to the changing shadows. They are alive again. Excuses and reasons flood their minds. Fingers poised above the keyboard. Ears firmly blocked. Minds made up. They are awake once more. They are ready for destruction. They are ...THE APOLOGISTS!! Overhyping ...is back.
-
Please don't get mad at me dude lol, all I said was that the fish looked like one from TPM. Otherwise I don't think it resembles anything in TPM at all. Besides, its artwork from a stinking video game jeez people are getting in such a snit over it. I personally want to see a trailer, then I will get a better idea of what to expect.
-
I have come to an conclusive fact based on three pictures from a video game. This is GOING to suck!
Who gives a shit about the director's track record?
Who gives a shit about the performances?
Who gives a shit about the final special effects?
Who gives a shit about the score, the set pieces, or anything else?
These three pictures have made up my mind.
-
It looks like an ornithopter fucked the landing craft from Aliens. Looks really bad. Hope it has a lot of rendering to go. And if what other posters say is true about EVIL CORPORATIONS then count me out. Beyond it being the conspiracy theories of bumbling lefty idiots, but its also very played out. VERY. Cameron is a great director, but even he can't lift the titanic on that kind of turd. Even if its in 3D.
-
Those screen shots look very similar to the game Crysis - if they use that game engine, it should LOOK freaking fantastic on a good PC. If they built it ofr PS3 and XBox (the smart financial move) then I doubt it...but I'll keep my fingers crossed.
-

For the record... I'm not "shitting" on either TPM or Avatar.

I'm just comparing video game screen shots.

Hopefully these won't bunch up on you.
-
thats WHAT I think bout avatar.
-
Let's just hope that the end result is better.
-
About time we got another classic from Mr. Cameron - cannot express how exciting this is!! Bring it the fuck on!!
-
Awesome simpsons referrence, classic
-
no you're cool. you explained yourself rather than saying "IT LOOKS LIKE TPM REJECTS!" i too can see the resemblance now that you mention it. i just dont like non sequiturs.
-
I hear ya bro. It is the extremists that bug me. On one end, you have the extremist supporters, who have already anointed this movie the crown jewel of the 21st century. Like I have said, optimisim and excitement are one thing, but some people take it to far. On the other end you have the detractors, who are the ones saying how bad it is going to suck. Either way, no one can make clear and concise judgements regarding this movie simply because we have not seen enough or know enough about it to do so. We can only go by Cameron's past achievements which are impressive and good cause to think this will be a quality film. Extremists on both ends are just fucking annoying. Not just for this film, for any highly anticipated film.
-
...IMO.The movie's concept is looking like STARSHIP TROOPERS in a jungle world.
-
For the best movie reviews, who better to ask than to people wihtout jobs who just watch films. Subscribe at itunes and look for "jobless film reviews" or go to http://tinyurl.com/l44edq

Absolutely right. We keep hearing from the hardcore fans that it's going to be mind-blowing, paradigm-shifting, etc. etc. Please, don't let this be underwhelming like Chinese Democracy, which could have been a serviceable rock record had it been released in a reasonable time period and without all that unnecessary polish. In many ways, Axl and Cameron are alike. Both are known to be difficult to the point of abusive and egomaniacal, and both have made terrific, legendary works of popular art. But they've been largely coasting on their reputation. Axl's washed up, though. Let's see if Cameron can avoid that. I'm pulling for him.
-
Get Michael Bay on the motherfucking case pronto! He loves big balls!
-
Does anyone know if Stan Winston had any hand in alien design for Avatar before he passed away? If he did, then I'm all in. These pics are certainly not winning me over.
-
...because the more I see the less and less impressed I am. Please put out an awesome trailer, because this project now has me officially bummed out.
-
that is.
-
nope, no sarcasm, you gave me a laugh. Love the Radioactive Man movie episode, one of the 5 best ever. I could watch it today and laugh harder than at any number of new comedies or Family Guy episodes. Thanks!
-
great fucking handle BTW...very underrated film.
-
looks fine to meif god made it that way, wed all be pissing in our faces!
-
Please?
-
James Cameron could've made an amazing Halo movie.
-
THIS is what we're waiting for? Halo did this about 5 years ago
-
Drag me to hell?
-
ON game and film.
-
Full digital special effects at his hands before? I know he is a pioneer and created some wonderful stuff back in the day. But to think, what this man can do, with the full spectrum of creative tools he has it his disposal right now, and then some, plus is vision and knack for story telling. This gives me goose bumps.
-
Do you seriously think I'm paying my hard-earned to watch something that looks like a GAME??? For fuck's sa....oh wait...it IS the game. Eat my anus.
-
OK, if the Pandoran atmosphere is ammonia-based (correct me if I'm wrong) how could these green plants survive? I think their plant biology is off.
-
Anyone remember that Amiga/PC/Megadrive game from the early 1990's.
Cause this looks a lot like it. Still not convinced this will be anything other than a 3d gimmick.
Cameron is a god but even god's can make poor choices.
ILM passed on this as Cameron wanted unlimited freedom to change the CGI for no extra cost which is how Weta got the job in the end.
If your going to spend $350M on a movie at least try and get a trailer out 6 months before it hits the theatres!!
Hope I am wrong but lush planets with unbreathable air sounds pretty lame sci-fi to me. Remember Solaris which Cameron produced about 7 years ago well that did not turn out too good did it. Nothing I have seen so far looks like this will be anyting other than a Titanic letdown!
-
...with the word, "So...".
It seems to be this generation's "Uhh....". -
as a boon of something great, and, on the other hand, a crowd who looks at his past movies with irritation and a perceived smell of mediocre cheese (including Aliens and T2)...
-
We are beyond spoiled these days with visuals in movies. Stop gauging whether you are blown away by the sights as we wont be as much anymore. Films are going to have to go back to execution of story. Even if it doesn't blow your mind admit it, it doesn't look bad. We nerds always have interest in stories of these settings.
-
This movie better bring it or I'll be developing a case of eyeball-blue-balls.
-
Sorry, try again Cameron
-
i think anything after 12 years of hype will feel like a letdown for some, which is why (for the moment) AVATAR isnt being shoved down our throats. Cameron ALWAYS lets his films speak for themselves. remember EVERYONE was saying TITANIC would be the end of him, it wasnt.
-
I like how people are saying it will suck and haven't seen a second of footage. I'm siding with the "MEH" crowd, but hardly claiming it will suck, like I've seen it. you bitches will cry and it will bank 200 million in america.
-
Thanks, boys. I appreciate it. "You are an OX...AND A MORON!!"
-
They insist in having power armored suits carrying handguns. That's just ridiculous.
-
Do you have any idea how fucking ridiculous you look? get some talent before you mouth off.
-
armour having articulated hands and carrying guns makes a lot of sense. Firstly, the hands would allow the pilot an ability to manipulate the enviroment (push, pull, etc...) much as an infantryman could. Second, I would think that if someone were going to build a multi-Million Dollar Weappons platform like mech armour, surely you would want it to be able to carry and use different types of weapons, basically have it be as versatile as possible. Basically, to match the versatility of infantrymen. And the mech armour having the ability to change its weaponary by changing what its carrying would do this imho.....
-
...I have indeed put way too much thought into this.....lol
-
and of course watch film history be made with avatar, gonna be an exciting time
-
yeah, all these pictures from the game are really getting me excited for this film. Epic, adult sci fi done on a LOTR scale, with lots of Cameron action and Stan Winston designs....Im not much of a game player, so I dont know if I will ever get around to playing this game, but it does look like fun. I ve pre-ordered the concept art book from Amazon though....Anyone know if that creature attacking the mech armour is a viper wolf, or if thats the Manticore from the old scriptment?
-
...comes the next step in TOTAL FUCKING DESTRUCTION:A V A T A R. December.Nothing else matters.
-
Nothing else matters is right. It will be epic

The Helicopters Look Nice, The Next Evolution In Copter?
by media messiah
Those could easily be made for real? Wow, that is a nice design for those copters!!! The rest of the visuals look...video gamey? I can understand as this is from the video game adaptation of Avatar, but I hope that the movie sticks to James Cameron's photo realistic special effects visual look!!!
-
too, them and the mech armour designs, very Battlemech, which is a good thing imho
-
..interesting!
-
looks mundane to me
-
this looks underwhelming: imagine what it will look like in 3D on the big screen. On the other hand, the only thing Cameron has made that is beyond pure entertainment was The Abyss. Too bad he chickened out and remade it as a weak chick-flick.
-
thats what Ive been wondering dude I can't remember if it was the Manticore with 6 legs in the scriptment
-
I love Cameron movies, but these pics don't perk my interest at all. Looks corny. I wouldn't even play the videogame.
-
Sorry but JC's Star wars ain't fucking my eyeballs.
-
Actually the world design reminds me of Roger Dean's freaky 80s posters. You know, the cover art he did for "Yes" albums and for computer games like "Shadow of the Beast"? Interesting to see the Dean style back in action.
-
James Cameron obviously has no understanding of evolution, and is becoming devoid of creativity in his old age. First of all, the idea that trees (even 300 ft ones) and plants would evolve on another planet, and look exactly like their Earth counterparts is insanely unlikely, and more importantly, shows zero creativity; it shows no understanding of evolutionary theory anyway. To explain why would take a few pages, but shouldn't you already know why from your biology class? If not, than you are obviously as scientifically illiterate as Cameron on this subject. Its disappointing, because the diverse lifeforms is what I was so excited about. I really thought he was going to blow us away.
-
OVER RATED...::clap clap..clap clap clap::...
OVER RATED...::clap clap..clap clap clap::...
OVER RATED...::clap clap..clap clap clap::... -
Yeah, I realize there are grammatical mistakes above: than should be then, etc... Sue me. I'm typing fast because I'm not getting paid for this shit. Anyway, to go on about why this movie looks crap...
It literally looks like any other video game out there, and I am speaking only about the art direction. Not even, the art direction is mediocre to poor based on current video game standards, and wasn't this the art and design supposed to blow us away? Melt our eyeballs?
Seriously, I can't get over it. They are using green screens so they can create a CG rain forest? Why not just film on a real rain forest? Or yet, WHY NOT DESIGN A REAL ALIEN PLANET THAT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE A GOD DAMN EARTH RAIN FOREST YOU HACK!!!! Yeah, Cameron has never directed a bad film, I get it. But the more I learn about Avatar the more it sounds like the work of a guy who hasn't heard the word "no" in around a decade, so here it is Cameron. NO, THIS DOES NOT LOOK COOL. IT LOOK LIKE SHIT. -
What are you basing this 'it will own' logic on? I'm not saying it'll suck - it may be good. It's just we've seen NOTHING that suggests the hype you constantly bring.
-
Because they're completely underwhelming...he needs to show us the FUCK YOU CGI..then we know eyeball fucking might ensue..the game stuff looks very ordinary compared to whats out there..not a wise first look
-
OVER RATED...::clap clap..clap clap clap::... OVER RATED...::clap clap..clap clap clap::... OVER RATED...::clap clap..clap clap clap::...
J. J. Abrams and Michael Bay are going to be the saints of this site once people find out Avatar is just another movie, too. Still smells like in all those years of hiding at the bottom of the ocean Cameron has gone the way of the Lucas. -
shut up and fuck off and watch 2012 Gforce Im interested to know how many planets you've visited. You pompous bellend you've seen NOTHING of the movie. A few screen shots of a tie in game means fuck all, and shitty HALO ripped of Ian Banks and looked like every other game out there at the time so what fuckin moaning geeks your all tits no wonder the movie industrys fucked I BLAME YOU
-
he believes in Jebus and all that horseshit
-
dickhead, that was my point...screenshots of a game tie in are a DUMB introduction
wake the fuck up cockbreath -
much about what a movie will be like based on some computer game screen shots. Oh well....my excitement is based on the old scriptment and the talent involved, as well as how cool everything is looking imho. Those of you that think it looks boring im curious what designs would excite you? Since everyone and their uncle compained non-stop about the busy overdesigned transformers (and one of the things I like most about the designs im seeing is how not overdesigned they are), and since Geiger style stuff has been done to death? And the stuff we are seeing like the mech armour and the gunships have a practical, real world look to them (design wise), would you guys prefer a more fantasy style design aesthetic then? And sorry guys but Bay is unlikely to ever be a saint on this site as long as he makes Transformers movies the way he does, or as long as he continues to make movies the way he does period...And Im sorry but if you cant tell the difference between Bay and Cameron then you have no business discussing sci-fi action films imho....
-
obviously it has fantasy elements. Then what sci-fi alien world on screen do you like? Should we have all the humanoid aliens of Star Trek with bumpy foreheads and different noses? Or planets like in Star Wars where they all just look like an enviroment on Earth (desert, forest, snow etc...). And since no-one (to the best of my knowledge) has ever been on an alien planet, or has encountered alien creatures, just exactly how much authority can anyone actually have saying what you are? Nevermind that ita just a movie dude....
-
so says Moriarty on Hitfix, and he got to play the Avatar game, so Im assuming he would know. If you are interested you should go check out his site and read his experiance playing the game, he has some really interesting stuff to say....
-
black....
-
comment about the game being a bad introduction, well in one of the recent interviews he did, Cameron said that he felt it was not an issue to introduce the game first because people are clever and savvy enough to know the difference between a movie and a computer game, as well as the obvious differences between the two media (And i would agree with this). However he may be overestimating some people.....lol
-
I was writing my post as you posted yours your right I would have preferred film pics first but I think southafricanguy has replied for me above as to why its not an issue for me and is to you
-
yea I was thinking that but compared to the size of the Walker I thought the viper wolves would be smaller. We ve actually conversed many times about AVATAR in other TBs about the scriptment months ago but my old accounts got banned for some reason and as I work in the game industry ill be getting my hands on this in about a month hopefully can't wait
-
I guess the Halo Movie did get made after all.
-
The people complaining are the same people who loved Transformers, Terminator Salvation and Wolverine. You know I'm right.
-
Cameron doesn't know how to do anything other than epic...and btw these screen shots remind me of Unreal Tournament's alien world deathmatch maps. The hovercraft is actually in the game, but I forget what it's called.
The Abyss is one of my fav movies by Cameron next to Aliens. -
whats up where you been
-
TRUTH!
-
Looking good so far, hopefully we'll be in for a treat come December. The premise sound cool.
-
the talkbacks lately as there has been very little interesting to talk about imho. It s been quite slow news wise the last week or so...What you been up to? Its so fucking hot and humid here in Korea at the moment....Hows things in Texas?
-
things thats so interesting to me about this movie is that it will be LOTR epic, and the most large scale and epic universe Cameron has ever played in. Cant wait tot see how he handles the epic action set pieces. Thought Jackson did very well with the LOTR, but im willing to bet Cameron will one up him in that department...lol
-
who? The scriptment was written in 1995, and it laid out Pandora in heavy detail (and the stuff we are seeing mostly matches what was in the old scriptment), way before Halo was even close to development...
-
its always the same crowd that bitch and complain, but then they defend garbage like T4 and Transformers...lol
-
..lol. I thought the same thing about the viperwolves but aside from what Mori says, that creature just doesnt match the description imho. Hope it isnt the Manticore, that would be dissapointing considering the role the Manticore plays and how damn cool the designs have been so far...Please let us know your thoughts/opinions when you ge tthe game dude....
-
...cool to see you interested by what you are seeing. The premise is quite cool, and thats us tthe tip of the iceberg dude if the old scriptment was anything to go by. What do you think of the mech armour Laserpants?
-
I heart giant robots / mechs / battlesuits!
-
Well, and not even that, really, but pretty much every futuristic video game has copied Aliens for it's 'Space Marines'.. all the way back to Doom even.. I just mean the look of it, the Avatar game now.. doubtful anyone is going to feel a need to even bother making Halo as a movie after this.. could be wrong of course, but yeah you're right.
-
you on the mech armour/giant robots. And there is a massive battle/action set piece with an entire army of those mechs in the old scriptment. Could be pretty damn cool.....
-
my friend. I think thats why I never "got" the big deal about Halo, as I read the old scriptment years ago and I know that if Cameron made it there would be no point to a Halo movie. Also why I did nt care about the Halo movie falling apart, and I prefer Cameron handling it......
-
Ultimately I'm gonna wait until I see a trailer, film, etc. until I apply the pass/fail card...until then MANY people around the world wide web have claimed how "Explosive" and "F'n you're eyeballs" this will be. Dude get real...I stopped listening to him the day I sat down and watched The Matrix Reloaded....it's NEVER worth it...usually...
I'm still chanting...OVER RATED...::clap clap..clap clap clap::... -
It has its supporters, and its detractors.
-
ALLAH DEMANDS THAT YOU LOVE "DRAG ME TO HELL!" It tells the story of an INFIDEL, a citizen of the GREAT SATAN, and her TRIP TO HELL! HELL!!! LALALALALALALALALALALALALALALA!!!
-
Long time, no speak. I dig these game screenshots, but I'm really champing at the bit for some actual footage now. Less than 6 months to go. When do you think the trailer will arrive? Rumour has it that it will drop with Ice Age 3 on July 1st - a 3D trailer, no less. Failing that, it has to be with Harry Potter in July; what other big movies are coming out after that? There's nothing else it could be attached to. Unless Cameron has got some groundbreaking marketing plan up his sleeve. Of course, Comic Con may be a probable place to unveil footage.I hope that is a viperwolf in the first screenshot. Somebody over on Marketsaw claimed it was the manticore, but I doubt it - way, way too small. After all that thing was supposed to be the T-Rex and Alien Queen all wrapped up, and blown up on steroids! Finally, what the hell happened to Laserpants? Did someone hack his account? Feels weird to be having a civilized conversation with him, instead of trading insults! He's right about Drag Me To Hell being the best - certainly, the most entertaining - of the summer so far, as well.
-
listen you dingbats...stop waving your little Titanic flags for a minute and think. Hey i hope the film kicks ass too, im not such a dropkick to take it for granted it will (re the curse of the Phantom Menace)...but this is an extremely droll introduction..When we see something rendered cinematically..then lets talk. In the meantime we've got some screenshots of an ordinary looking game so far. Get fuckin real.
-
hated all 3...and these game shots are not thrilling.
We're still waiting for the slightest whiff of ocular fucking.
-
you fucking whoorah!!!--genius!
-
star wars hype and avatar hype i think will be different. camerons saw what happened to TPM and probably wont go that route. and im sorry cameron is a much better filmmaker (technically and actorly) than lucas ever will be. but as you said, we'll see.
-
yeah the talkbacks have been kinda weak but...its fucking hot as hell in houston.
-
it good to see you taking everything in stride...WE will keep up the good work..need to see DRAG, probably wait til dvd. no one to go with. my wife wont even watch the ads.
-
When can we get some of these big movie 'events' like you dudes in Austin have all the time?? Throw us a bone man!
-
i second that.
-
[...] the smaller aircraft is a Scorpion and the chopper landing in the rainforest is a Samson - which are featured heavily in the final cut!
[...] "The 'panther' is a Thanator, which was called a 'manticore' in the scriptment. The tan/orange animals being shot from the air are 'Sturmbeasts', which the Na'vi hunt like buffalo. The scriptment's 'titanothere' is in the movie too, but with a new name. Since I haven't seen an image of it online yet, I can't talk about it. The comment about everything being brightly lit is only partially correct. While there are some scenes in the movie like this, much of the action take place in dimly-lit rainforests, and at night." I got tired of being an jerk. I like having conversations, even disagreements, much better than posting the same joke over and over again.
-

Has Cameron weighed in on Terminator Salvation yet?
by zombieheathledger
I remember his official quote to McGay being "I reserve the right to hate it" before McGimp lied and said he'd received Cameron's blessing. And I agree with a lot of the above posters. I have never walked out of a Cameron movie feeling ripped off. He might not be making movies of Citizen Kane depth but he does indeed "get it."
-
Cameron thought Bale was 'professional'.
When asked about McG and the rest of the movie however he commented 'I didn't see it'. -
That the Mecha pictured are Caucasian...
-
and didn't like it and just said he didn't see it as not to say his true feelings.
-
Fuck this movie. Blatant Halo rip off that it is. Star Trek will still kick the shit out of this inflated, overhyped fucking video game. 130 million domestice tops. Fuck this movie AND your eyes. Salivating piss ants.
-
I will bet you $10,000 of my money against $1 of yours that AVATAR grosses more than 130 domestic. I'll bet you $100 straight up that it does 500 million domestic. You have no idea how much this movie is going to blow our minds.
-
like Josh to explain how its a rip off of Halo when the scriptent was written in 1995, and thus all the ideas/concepts were created then. Was there a Halo game then that I was nt aware of? And Avatar wil probably be huge internationally, something Trek has nt been at all, in fact its really struggled out side of America, made less than half of what its done stateside. So if it makes you happy to believe that Trek will beat Avatar, but im with onw9deuce I have a feeling this movie is going to do huge b.o....
