I am – Hercules!!

Good news, everyone!

Collider.com didn’t have the whole story; Variety just reported that key voice actors Billy West, Katey Sagal and John DiMaggio have all signed for 26 new episodes of “Futurama” to start airing next year.

Find all of Variety’s story on the matter here.

Two weeks ago a season of “The Simpsons” sold for $29.99!! The first 11 seasons of “The Simpsons” have suddenly plummeted for the moment to $12.99 each!!

Last week an extra-crammed (and I mean extra-crammed!) season of “Seinfeld” ran $32.49; this week seasons three through nine are just $13.99 each!!

Parker Lewis sucked ass. You can find episodes on YouTube, they don't hold up for that matter neither does Saved by the bell or any other garbage we were fed as children/preteens in the late 80's/early 90's. That said, add Dollhouse to that list come next May.

    by feralangel

He and the fact the show was far less identifiable to the general public than is "The Simpsons". (It's a lot easier for your average viewer to identify with a family than a bunch of alien weirdos working for an interstallar delivery service). Still, I'm happy for the revival. Hopefully the show will be better the second time around.

Why can't you guys understand the meaning of RATINGS?

    by feralangel

That's what dooms shows, for god's sake. No network kills shows that make money. There is no conspiracy, no dark evil corporate plot. Futurama DID last 4 seasons, but it was never anything like the Simpsons and so it got canned. End of story. Same with Firefly and all the rest of that junk. Fox didn't screw up. The creators of those shows got their chance, their spotlight, but they fell short and so el finito. That's show biz. As a viewer, I watched Futurama's first ep with a great deal of anticipation and was a bit disappointed. The disappointment increased as the series went on, although there were a few truly stellar episodes. Anyway, the show is back, and I also say "yay". Maybe it will make the best of its second chance.

    by torgothewhite

I used to LOVE the Simpsons. I was a fan back in the early days when it was just a short on The Tracey Ulman Show (only reason I watched that show). But it got stale after a few seasons and started repeating storylines like there was no tomorrow. How many episodes focused on this plot: Mr Burns wants to make tons of money in a project that would destroy nature to some degree....and only Lisa Simpsons can stop him. Seems like they did a story like that every season!

The reason WHY Futurama had such bad ratings...

    by nasty in the pasty

...was ENTIRELY Fox's fault. First they kick it out of it's prime, post-Simpsons Sunday night slot, throw it onto Tuesday nights, then bring it back to Sundays...but at 7:00 FUCKING PM, where it was 100% GUARANTEED to get pre-empted by sports or otherwise "joined already in progress". Fox tried their hardest to kill the show, and it was only Groening's clout that allowed it to last as long as it did.

And yes, Simpsons is the #1 animated comedy series of all time. I don't care that it when in the toilet, for the first 8 or 9 years it was the best show on TV period. OK, maybe not the 1st season, but after that. Frisky Dingo was close, but only 2 seasons of 10 min episodes, can't compare.

I don't think any show has ever been so rich with wordplay--just the phrasing of the most mundane expository dialogue elevates Futurama above just about anything else. I agree that the direct to DVD movies do not match the finest moments of the original episodes, but it's very hard to change the format of a 22 minute program and sustain the humor for the duration of a feature-length movie. I'm certainly willing to give this new fifth (sixth? seventh?) season a chance.

    by the garbage man

Right, it's all the creators' fault that Fox canceled their shows. It's not like we're talking about a network with a proven track record of airing episodes out of order, pushing back premiere dates, reshooting and dumbing-down pilots, mucking around with a creator's vision, providing endless notes, and shunting promising shows to the Friday night deathslot. Makes sense, FeralAngel. P.S. "Friday night deathslot" is the nickname I gave your mother. Ask her about it sometime.

does that mean that a Mission Hill reunion can't be far behind? Because that and Futurama sort of divided the genius of the Simpsons up between them, and then both tanked and the Simpsons stayed on the air as a shadow of its former self.

Ratings is only part of the issues with Fox shows

    by angua13

The problem with Fox isn't solely to do with the ratings. A lot of the time Fox doesn't help the show and doom it to bad ratings. For instance they show the series out of order so its harder for the average viewer to watch, or they play around with when the show airs so people have no idea when the show will next air.

Mr.Majestic mouths generic Fox hate and thinks he's cool

    by feralangel

"Fox sux!" The mantra of basement-dwelling fanboys everywhere. Never mind that Fox is the reason Futurama got on the air in the first place (think NBC would have aired it, even taking into account their idiotic programming and pitiful news broadcasts? Oh, and how about CBS, the Tiffany network? And ABC, owned by Disney. Yeah, that'd happen). And what's so intelligent, Motoko, about a cartoon about a beer-swilling robot (I focus on him because apparently he's the whole show to you Futurama fanfarts. Is he your hero because you're not yet of legal drinking age, or what? Are we talking pilsner envy here? What's the appeal? Is he so rude, crude, larcenous, heartless and worthless that he fulfills your every standard for masculinity? Your ignorance of true curmudgeontude is appalling. Go watch some W.C. Fields flicks. They'll show you the RIGHT way to portray hilarious drunken anti-socialism on film.

Let's hope the new series is less uneven than the dvd-movies.

they've already aired the episodes as 16 "new" episodes. as far as I can tell, they haven't been cut much at all (I'm sure a more attentive watcher will correct me) and the only difference is that now there are commercials to fast forward through.

    Katey Segal

also stars opposite Ron Pearlman on Sons of Anarchy, witch is a pretty good show but not 'Geek Genre' enough to get any love on this site. So its not like she needs the Futurama work. Happy its back on all the same.
