I am – Hercules!!
Good news, everyone!
Collider.com didn’t have the whole story; Variety just reported that key voice actors Billy West, Katey Sagal and John DiMaggio have all signed for 26 new episodes of “Futurama” to start airing next year.
Find all of Variety’s story on the matter here.

Two weeks ago a season of “The Simpsons” sold for $29.99!! The first 11 seasons of “The Simpsons” have suddenly plummeted for the moment to $12.99 each!!
Last week an extra-crammed (and I mean extra-crammed!) season of “Seinfeld” ran $32.49; this week seasons three through nine are just $13.99 each!!

my favorite show is back!
-
The movies were OK, but Futurama is better in 22min doses. *squeals some more*
-
Blast! I couldn't remember my password in time!
Either way, this is wonderful news, Futurama is my favorite Cartoon series, it'll be great to see it fleshed out in series again instead of confined to 90 min jam packed movies! -
You GOT to love him in COMIC BOOK THE MOVIE! I am SO Stoked that Matt Groenigs creations continue to thrive!
Some Day . . I will work with Billy and be in my version of heaven! :-D -
This series went downhill fast.
-
Zoidberg lives!
-
makes up for Family Guy still being on the air. Ugh
-
Because the format of the movies were killing the writing. Call it too much of a good thing. Give me 22 minutes and call it a day.
-
This made my day... hell, my month!
-
Thank you, Comedy Central...hopefully this will turn into multiple seasons with a growing viewership...
-
Love it Br1947! :-D
-
they get their pacing and sense of humor back.
So far the worst of the series was better than the best of the direct to dvd movies -
I really can't believe it. This is such fantastic(great) news(everyone). Everyone needs to get behind this and watch the hell out of it. C'mon, Nixon....we're going back to hell!
-
Someone must have made a deal with the Robot Devil.
-
What's she been doing since Ritter and his show died anyway? I guess she makes bank off of Married With Children still...
The Futurama news is great news indeed. Dropping it was Fox's biggest unresolved fuck-up until recently when they dropped T:SCC. -
...work out a new deal for King Of The Hill! I love that show and am bummed Fox cancelled it (again).
-
Huzzahs are in order.
-
(The good kind of "da man". Not the "da man" who is repressing the black community.)He is maybe the only person who can make me laugh, just with his voice.
-
Ms. Segal is also one of the stars of FX's Sons of Anarchy, along with Ron Perlman. It's pretty good and coming back this fall.
-
Let him pick any talkback he wants and then he should read it out loud! Seriously, he can not just make anything funny, but also HYSTERICAL!
-
Not Britney-Spears-successful, but still successful. So just because you don't see someone on TV, it doesn't mean he or she isn't busy.
-
Now Back to work on some kind of gamma-powered mechanical monsters with freeway on-ramps for arms and a heart as black as coal...
-
Let it be said that Fox never once made a mistake in canceling a show.
-
Can someone compile a list of really good shows that Fox canceled and screwed up on?FireflyFamily GuyFuturamaSpace: Above and BeyondArrested DevelopmentUndeclaredProfitTru CallingWonderfallsI could go on and on.
-
...but let me add Brisco County Jr. and Parker Lewis Can't Lose.
-
I'd include Brisco too. I am glad to see Futurama back. The movies ranged from OK to somewhat OK but I agree regular episodes is the way to go. I wonder if the new stuff will reference the movies at all? or even the last episode with Fry and Leela (which the movies seem to have ignored).
-
Parker Lewis sucked ass. You can find episodes on YouTube, they don't hold up for that matter neither does Saved by the bell or any other garbage we were fed as children/preteens in the late 80's/early 90's. That said, add Dollhouse to that list come next May.
-
Best news I could have possibly heard today!
-
Now I need to get cable.
-
wow, never thought it would actually happen. Guess sometimes good things DO happen to good franchises
-
From the planet Omicron Persei 8. I approve of this.
-
dont get me wrong, i totally loved the show and all but it always felt and looked like a cheap show compared to regular network sitcoms.
-
He and the fact the show was far less identifiable to the general public than is "The Simpsons". (It's a lot easier for your average viewer to identify with a family than a bunch of alien weirdos working for an interstallar delivery service). Still, I'm happy for the revival. Hopefully the show will be better the second time around.
-
Fuck Fox for getting rid of it. Peter Dragon was hilarious.
-
That's what dooms shows, for god's sake. No network kills shows that make money. There is no conspiracy, no dark evil corporate plot. Futurama DID last 4 seasons, but it was never anything like the Simpsons and so it got canned. End of story. Same with Firefly and all the rest of that junk. Fox didn't screw up. The creators of those shows got their chance, their spotlight, but they fell short and so el finito. That's show biz. As a viewer, I watched Futurama's first ep with a great deal of anticipation and was a bit disappointed. The disappointment increased as the series went on, although there were a few truly stellar episodes. Anyway, the show is back, and I also say "yay". Maybe it will make the best of its second chance.
-
futurama was the reason theres an adult swim.It predated things like family guy and south park and all that shit. This show was fucking awesome.I am beyond glad there bringing it back.My life cant get any better now!
-
I used to LOVE the Simpsons. I was a fan back in the early days when it was just a short on The Tracey Ulman Show (only reason I watched that show). But it got stale after a few seasons and started repeating storylines like there was no tomorrow. How many episodes focused on this plot: Mr Burns wants to make tons of money in a project that would destroy nature to some degree....and only Lisa Simpsons can stop him. Seems like they did a story like that every season!
-
If so, I'm going to cry with happiness!
-
WHAT AN HONOR!!!!
-
they only canceled such great shows cause most americans are idiots who don't get it. Fox' number one show is American idol. Need i say more.
-
Do you have candy stuck to your ass?
-
...was ENTIRELY Fox's fault. First they kick it out of it's prime, post-Simpsons Sunday night slot, throw it onto Tuesday nights, then bring it back to Sundays...but at 7:00 FUCKING PM, where it was 100% GUARANTEED to get pre-empted by sports or otherwise "joined already in progress". Fox tried their hardest to kill the show, and it was only Groening's clout that allowed it to last as long as it did.
-
And not due to the fact that the show was kind of shitty?
-
WTF? lockesbrokenleg, are you actually defending Fox's incompetent management? I know you're probably real proud of your jobs as a troll on these boards but I never thought you'd stoop so far as to become a FOX cheerleader. Oh and feralangel has rotten taste.
-

-
Here's hoping a network besides Fox renews Terminator. The series > part 4.
-
24 has really gone down in quality over the past few years. Besides, isn't Futurama on the Comedy Channel? Shit that station will run it forever. All they have is Stewart and Colbert.
-
...because only God could have made this greatness happen!
-
Futurama first aired in 1999, south park first aired in 1997 and if i remember right, family guy aired only a few months after futurama so i'll give you that one, sorta, but how can it predate south park? you, sir, are the dumb one. get your facts straight
-
I could have sworn I was aware of this for like over a month...Maybe people were just assuming about things that weren't set in stone yet.
-
...for the 2nd greatest animated comedy series of all time. And no, The Simpsons is not the 1st...before you ask ;)
-
but it seems I was wrong :)
-
And yes, Simpsons is the #1 animated comedy series of all time. I don't care that it when in the toilet, for the first 8 or 9 years it was the best show on TV period. OK, maybe not the 1st season, but after that. Frisky Dingo was close, but only 2 seasons of 10 min episodes, can't compare.
-
*in zoidberg voice* You thought you could keep king Zoidberg down did you? I wonder if we are still going to be Lost In Space for the new 26 episodes. Just think of all the delicious space garbage out there to be eaten. FIT FOR KING ZOIDBERG!
-
Lets give them some f'in' ratings this time people!!
-

of course, Everybody loves Hypnotoad never got cancelled
by franklancer
but with the episodes going from 13 to 26 overnight.. lets hope by the end of the week it'll be up to 56
guess this means King of the Hill comes back in about 5-8 years? -
And he's ready to boooogie down!!!
-
That is all.
-
the direct to dvd market can save some shows...pretty cool
-
Brannigan is back!
-
What I heard was that Groening and co. owned 50% or maybe even more of the show, so there wasn't a lot of financial incentive for Fox to keep it going.
-
Will half of those episodes ordered be made up of the DVD movies?
-

He makes Speedy Gonzalez look like Regular Gonzalez!
by the 6th conchord
I just hope they're as funny and imaginative as the regular shows. Those movies were so dull I didn't even bother with Green Yonder.
-
I try enjoying it but I barely laugh at anything in the episodes. The only episode I remember appreciating was the one about his dog, and that was just a sad episode.
Regardless, FOX screwed over the show because they didn't have any real ownership over it beyond airing it. I remember reading all about that BS. -
Even though I just don't seem to get the show myself, I'm happy for the peeps that seem to go crazy over it.
-
I don't think any show has ever been so rich with wordplay--just the phrasing of the most mundane expository dialogue elevates Futurama above just about anything else. I agree that the direct to DVD movies do not match the finest moments of the original episodes, but it's very hard to change the format of a 22 minute program and sustain the humor for the duration of a feature-length movie. I'm certainly willing to give this new fifth (sixth? seventh?) season a chance.
-
You need to add "Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles" to that list...
-
I think it is safe to say "Tru Calling" could be deleted from your list!
-
but the last futuramas that were produced kinda sucked ass. still
-
Right, it's all the creators' fault that Fox canceled their shows. It's not like we're talking about a network with a proven track record of airing episodes out of order, pushing back premiere dates, reshooting and dumbing-down pilots, mucking around with a creator's vision, providing endless notes, and shunting promising shows to the Friday night deathslot. Makes sense, FeralAngel. P.S. "Friday night deathslot" is the nickname I gave your mother. Ask her about it sometime.
-
and it's *NOT* a remake!?!? AMAZING!
-
does that mean that a Mission Hill reunion can't be far behind? Because that and Futurama sort of divided the genius of the Simpsons up between them, and then both tanked and the Simpsons stayed on the air as a shadow of its former self.
-
... this is indeed GOOD NEWS!
-

... although I don't claim to understand it. I just watch it;)

-
Thanks, AICN.
-
EASILY THE MOST OVERRATED DRIVEL IMAGINABLE.
-
The problem with Fox isn't solely to do with the ratings. A lot of the time Fox doesn't help the show and doom it to bad ratings. For instance they show the series out of order so its harder for the average viewer to watch, or they play around with when the show airs so people have no idea when the show will next air.

Could never fully get into it, can't rememb a time I laughed out
by george newman
I liked it in its first season when i was in high school, but it never completely clicked. I use it as background noise sometimes when i just let ComedyCentral run, but it is never engaging. I can't remember I time that I laughed out loud at a joke in the shower. it's just a big fat Meh.
-
Every time there is news about Futurama, The Simpsons, or South Park, a bunch of whiney bitches come in to cry about Family Guy. "Whaaa the show is so lame now" "Whaa it used to be funny but now it sucks". Pathetic how its become trendy to hate on Family Guy. Get a life douchebags.
On Topic though, good to see this show back. -
Couldn't wait to see it when this show first premiered. Thought, "Great! another Simpsons!" I was right... it was just as unfunny as the Simpsons has become.

Hooooray!!!! FUTURAMA = best, most intelligent cartoon ever!
by motoko kusanagi
Eat this, Fox, you stupid fuckers! And all you haters GOTTA EAT!
-
YOU ALL HAVE ZOIDBERG!!!
-
"Fox sux!" The mantra of basement-dwelling fanboys everywhere. Never mind that Fox is the reason Futurama got on the air in the first place (think NBC would have aired it, even taking into account their idiotic programming and pitiful news broadcasts? Oh, and how about CBS, the Tiffany network? And ABC, owned by Disney. Yeah, that'd happen). And what's so intelligent, Motoko, about a cartoon about a beer-swilling robot (I focus on him because apparently he's the whole show to you Futurama fanfarts. Is he your hero because you're not yet of legal drinking age, or what? Are we talking pilsner envy here? What's the appeal? Is he so rude, crude, larcenous, heartless and worthless that he fulfills your every standard for masculinity? Your ignorance of true curmudgeontude is appalling. Go watch some W.C. Fields flicks. They'll show you the RIGHT way to portray hilarious drunken anti-socialism on film.
-
Let's hope the new series is less uneven than the dvd-movies.
-
hell yeah
-
As long as there's more from Hypno-toad, I'll be a happy man.
-
...or are they new ones? If that is the case - when will we se the recut movies?
-
maybe they can finally put The Simpsons out of it's misery.
-
Cartoon Tick, live action Tick, Andy Richter CTU
-
I CURSE ZOIDBERRRRGGGG
-
they've already aired the episodes as 16 "new" episodes. as far as I can tell, they haven't been cut much at all (I'm sure a more attentive watcher will correct me) and the only difference is that now there are commercials to fast forward through.
-
also stars opposite Ron Pearlman on Sons of Anarchy, witch is a pretty good show but not 'Geek Genre' enough to get any love on this site. So its not like she needs the Futurama work. Happy its back on all the same.
