Head Still Hot To Revive The
TV Buffiverse With RIPPER!!

I am – Hercules!!

While promoting the new BBC/NBC series “Merlin,” Anthony Stewart Head tells scifiwire.com he’s still hopeful Joss Whedon will be able to revive his old Rupert Giles character in a BBC “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” spinoff project titled “Ripper.” The project has been gestating since 2001, when Head left his regular role on “Buffy” near the start of its sixth season. The actor tells the site he’d like to do it as a TV-movie that could lead to a new regular series, but there are a couple of obstacles: 1) "Buffy" mastermind Whedon is currently busy with both the Fox series “Dollhouse” and the big-screen UA thriller “Cabin in the Woods”; and 2) The project would have to get the okays of 20th Century Fox and producers Fran & Kaz Kuzai, who have been busy pitching a new big-screen version of “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” unrelated to the TV show. As for what the “Ripper” movie would deal with, Head tells scifiwire:
… I hope that one day it gets made, whether it's in the guise of Ripper or whether we just tell it as a one-off TV movie. It's a lovely, lovely story. It's kind of a ghost story. It's also about a man investigating his own soul …
