Woody! Buzz! Aliens! Rex! Slinky! Mr. and Mrs. Potatohead! Jessie! Toy Story 3 Teaser Trailer in glorious Quicktime!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Not only does this trailer instantly make me wish it was next summer, but it calms any fears I had that we've moved on from TOY STORY. Seeing Woody, Buzz, the army dudes, Rex, Jessie and the rest of the toys together again, hearing Rickles, Hanks, Allen, Cusack et al instantly brought me back into that world. I am so damn excited for this one. Makes me want to throw in the first two right now as I work... Just might do that...
As the aliens say... Oooooooooooooooooooooooo....

Didn't wanna:-).
-
thanks!
-
I loved every second of that!
-
Toy Story will forever be emblematic of my childhood. I will be first in line to see this one!
-
It's one of those rare things, like The Simpsons, that a kid can enjoy & as you get older your appreciation of it actually grows.
-
Any truth to that rumor?
-
That entertained me more than most movies I have watched this year. Can't wait. P.S. They all have CGI Pants!
-
No in fact John Lassiter scrapped their Toy Story 3 when he took over Disney. This is a Pixar film from the very first frame. It will be wonderful.
-
So since the guy who did Slink's voice died years ago, do you think they'll actually write him out or just forget about him?
-
Great! I was worried for a little bit.
-
According to wiki Slinky Dog's voice artist Jim Varney died of lung cancer in 2000. He was replaced by a friend who producer John Lasseter described as "sound[ing] an awful lot like him"
-
couldnt get a good sense of the voice though. kinda just grunted. who cares...toy story is great.

This is what happens when actual artists are in control of an an
by captain tragedy
this is exactly why we have nice things
-
damn cutoffs
-
Looking forward to this one. But enough with the ridiculous 3D already. More Woody, less Buzz, in other words...
-
Ahhh...we may be in a world of shit(ty movies), but at least there's always Pixar...
-
Toy Story 2
-
of great films. Will they ever stop? I hope not.
-
so it's time to mine the well of Toy Story toy stories. Lets just hope that it isn't some knocked off cash grab - but it seems unlikely.
-
The Toy Story franchise is shaped like the great TV shows, where you just dig spending time with the characters. It's been years since Toy Story II came out, and yet the second I saw this I just started grinning and went back to the mindset of the 14 year old who saw that film and just loved every second of it.
-
As much as I love Pixar now, I wasn't impressed by them until Monsters Inc.
If I wanted to watch talking inanimate objects, I'd go see a Dreamworks movie. -
I once saw a 3-panel storyboard, showing Woody sitting on a dusty old shelf, obviously abandoned for several years.
-
Nothing from the film....just a lame way to reintroduce the characters with those with short memories.
-
Every Pixar teaser is not from the film. None of them ever are.
-
What do you mean "forced"? They didn't hold a gun to their head but the odds are that a Toy Story 3 was part of the deal when Disney bought Pixar. Lassiter didn't want to do it, but just went with the necessary evil to achieve the greater good (more valuable stock options).
-
so don't go calling me a hater..just keeping it real.
-
Is the best movie ever. Can't wait for this.
-
HOWEVER, I doubt Pixar will drop the ball on TS3 and if this means we still get potentially amazing flicks like Up for the next 5-10 years then who cares?? Rock on Pixar. Inventive trailer too. I like the 'and you guys were worried!' line, possibly aimed at fans?? Yes.
-
wasn't Lassiter's first action on arriving at Disney to CANCEL the then planned TOY STORY 3 because what Disney were going to make (without pixar) was rubbish. Then production only restarted when they had an idea worthy of the name ..
-
You know, like video game characters? Maybe they can talk to the other toys when the game is turned on, via the TV screen. Or something. Anyway, I hear that TS3 has a very good story behind it, which was the impetus behind Pixar making Toy Story 2, so I have high hopes for this.
-
A shot at Circle 7, which Lasseter shut down before the ink was dry on the Disney/Pixar merger.
-
We have to have Cars 2 though. The weakest of all pixar films gets a sequel while the Incredibles doesn't.
-
That's what I am waiting for
-
Cuz Toy Story II was a perfect sequel. Wrath of Kahn level sequel. I'll be interested in seeing in Toy Story 3 is an unusually high-quality threequel. I'm betting it will be. I'm willing to bet Cars 2 is better than Cars, and wins three or four of the Cars haters over. I enjoyed Cars all right--Paul Newman being a large part of that, but, still. 'Mater and the Ghostlight, the Cars short on the DVD, was a heckuva a lot of fun, from beginning to end. And cut out the NASCAR storyline from Cars, the characters are a lot fun and Radiator Springs was awesome . . . the judge giving the know-it-all race car a lesson in humility . . . lots of good stuff in Cars. Better than any of the Dreamworks movies, excepting Kung Fu Panda.
-
Or a spin off. Another Brad Bird created romp through that world. Won't hold my breath, though.
But I'm expecting that Cars 2 will be a case where the sequel is superior to the original. Just a hunch. -
Can't wait!
-
Why is this movie not on BluRay yet, but the Pixar shorts are on BluRay? This is a damned crime against humanity.
-
the day he died. She was a respiratory therapist at the hospital in Nashville where he had been admitted. From what I understand, that guy was a two carton a day smoker since he was a teenager.
-
Aww, Vern. Seeing Slinky Dog there just brought back some memories. I wonder what they'll do with him?
-
I saw her on TV the other day and was taken aback. When did she turn into Madame?
-
I love Toy Story but don't really care for TS2
-
I stopped at 96% . Why, dear God, why?
-
obviously they could go all out, but they wanna maintain that same continuity from 1995.
-
...I become more and more grateful that Pixar and Disney worked things out. The last thing any of us wants is an endless series of shitty Direct-to-DVD (or Blu-Ray) knockoffs designed to strip-mine TOY STORY for everything its worth until the concept becomes commercially worthless.
And yes, I also want an INCREDIBLES sequel. Pay Brad Bird, Craig T. Nelson, and Holly Hunter whatever they want and make it happen already!
-
NooooOOOoooooOoooooo....!
-
I didn't even know they were making this either and suddenly get this cool teaser that you can see they actually put effort into (unlike the spider-man one for instance that was literally just the word 'spider-man'). Could Pixar actually make the perfect trilogy?
-
They could easily come up with some villain like The Underminer or whatever to fight, but it wouldn't be the same without the family drama, all of which I think was pretty well covered by the end of the first film. If Brad Bird or Pixar comes up with a story in the same universe that they really want to tell, I'd happily pay money for a sequel, but I wouldn't want to see them do it just to do it.
-
Count me in.
-
arent the links working ? retarded
-
I have two young boys (5 and 4) who are ripe for this!!!
-
go to nukethefridge.com they have it in a reliable link..not like these dolts here..
-
Toy Story and everything that Pixar has done after it has been pure magic. This looks to be no different. It's amazing how they can capture the very essence of what being a kid (or wishing you could go back and be one again) is all about.
-
did ya see that pentagram ball? the kid's all growns up, and now he loves the metal more than woody and buzz.
-
Loved it. Not everyday you see a kids film actually bring up facing ones mortality.
-
Loved.
-
Is the trailer elsewhere? -
Something feels off about it. Firstly, the version of the film that Pixar was making, which was scrapped at Disnye's request since it was developed during their disputes, sounded really cool. I bet this Disney-approved version won't be as good.
-
I just LOVE the fact that, they are keeping with the same quality for continuities sake of keeping the look identical to that of the other 2.
ALTHOUGH I'm intrested to see what the other environments will look like. Will they boost them? Eh, either way, this will be amazing. Hands down. I love that I'm geeking out over a 'family' movie, only Pixar can make that happen. -
On the whole internet (well, Empire, Chud, Yahoo, and EW). For fucksake.
-
You've got it backwards, bub. That original Toy Story 3 project was being worked on by DISNEY without PIXAR's approval, by some sham animation studio the house of mouse cobbled together basically as a huge bluff ("See? We can do this without you. And if we fuck it up, 1. You'll always know you could have stopped us, and 2. We don't really care, because while it may be partly our baby too, you've always loved it more.") Anyway, what we're getting next summer is the PIXAR-approved version.
-
Dunno everyone else's problem. Sorry to hear it.
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXJEDUainX4 - For however long it's up.
-
If you think that's how Pixar works, you know absolutely nothing about the way the minds at Pixar work.
Regardless, this trailer is bringing back some major nostalgia. Toy Story was the definitive movie of my childhood. I'm just excited, if not more, to see Toy Story 3 in theaters as I was to see Toy Story 2 when I was in elementary school. -
DISNEY was making a sequel WITHOUT Pixar. Pixar and Disney worked out their agreement and got their relationship fixed. John Lasseter (from Pixar) was named Head of Disney Animation. Lasseter said "FUCK YOU" to Disney's version of Toy Story 3 and scrapped it completely. PIXAR then made their own Toy Story 3 WITHOUT Disney. Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.

Remove the space before the equal sign.
-
GRRR! The link STILL doesn't work! What's the deal?! :P
-
That was rumored for a while. Why do I remember even reading it wouldn't be CGI...Thankfully, things have changed big time.

Too much traffic overloading the server?

Several years ago I recall reading an interview wherein Pixar was saying that if they were to do a sequel to Toy Story 2, it'd involve Andy outgrowing the toys and focus on his little sister and the introduced cowgirl character.
When Pixar and Disney were divided, Disney had the rights to Toy Story even though Pixar considered it their little baby. Disney was in the habit of pumping out direct to video sequels (which is what Toy Story 2 was initially meant to be but turned out TOO GOOD to dot hat to) and they decided to make their own Toy Story 3.
The Disney version of Toy Story 3 was again to be a direct-to-video sequel and with Pixar not involved, would have likely been decent or mediocre.
When Pixar and Disney re-merged and Lassetter was put in creative control, he took his baby back and we are, seemingly, getting that storyline from all those years ago that involves Andy growing up. -
Also, when Disney was trying to do their own Toy Story 3, Tom Hanks declared he WOULD NOT play Woody without Pixar involved.
This MAY have played a part in Disney and Pixar's reunion. But with Pixar back in control, Tom Hanks happilly reprised the role. -

How could they have 3 different resolutions of trailers...but not want them up? Are they waiting for something? Up just hit theaters so you would think they would want this online NOW. Maybe it has some old story element or something and they want to re-edit it?

This should work.
-
that this was even in production. Should be fun.
-
You are mostly right but Pixar is owned by Disney so they are not "making their own Toy Story without Disney". They ARE Disney. Like I said, Lassiter is just making this to make Disney execs happy and because they probably have a script that doesn't suck so bad that it will keep him up at night. I'm sure it won't be crap like the Shrek sequels, but it is unlikely i will live up to the quality of Toy Story 2...they just set the bar too high for that one. But I doubt it will totally suck.
-
PERFECT teaser!
Professional job Pixar people. -
They are making their own film without Disney interference and without needing to check with Disney if "This is okay," and whatnot, just like always.
-
"Also, when Disney was trying to do their own Toy Story 3, Tom Hanks declared he WOULD NOT play Woody without Pixar involved."
I love that. Fucking A Mr. Hanks! Disney would have been fine with churning out some steaming pile of a Toy Story sequel. I'm glad Tom is a man of integrity because very few (if any) Hollywood execs are.
-
You don't know anything about the Disney/Pixar split or Circle 7 studios unless you were there. Please have a bit more respect for the many talented artists, technicians and production people who took a chance on working on Toy Story 3 because they believed they could absolutely do it right and pay homage to a great film franchise. Circle 7 was a great place to work and the feeling there was exciting and positive. If you could only see the test shots that came out of there you wouldn't talk so badly about it.
-
Rupee88, you're dead wrong. TS3 was kicking around Pixar for many years after TS2 was done. It's not being made to placate anyone at Disney - if you knew John Lasseter you'd know he would never do it that way no matter WHO told him to. He is totally in charge of both Pixar AND Disney animation now and everything done at both studios has his stamp of approval or it doesn't fly, period.
-
Short version - Disney/Pixar almost split (or did, I don't quite remember), Pixar wanted to do it's own thing, Disney went off and started on a TS3 without Pixar, but they kissed and made up in the end so it's all Pixar Toy Story 3 now and not "forced" by Disney.

done it! Just like for most of the toys.
-
what I was going to say was that you yourself may be TOO close. I agree that all the artists/animators would have done their absolute best, as they have done time and again on Disney Animated features. BUT if you don't think C7 TS3 and the creation of circle 7 was born out of Eisner's/Disney executive spite and egomaniacal powertripping you need to get some objectivity. It would have been yet another project fucked by the pathetic suits. Yes the artists do their best but have been fucked over time and time again. Hopefully that's changed with the new regime.
One thing that doesn't really get talked about is that Lasseter and Catmull at least TRIED to place C7 employees on other jobs. Probably not much solace to many, but at least it's better than the fucks that were ruling the roost beforehand. Remember how those fucks went 3d for Dinosaur, letting all the 2d guys who didn't want to change over go? Remember how they sold all the traditional animation desks? And then when it tanked they fired THE 3D GUYS? 'Cause yeah, I guess somehow it's always the fault of the guys inthe trenches... And then somehow a few years later they fired the 2D guys AGAIN because for some reason 3D was magically the future... again?! But it never occurred to these arseholes THEY (and their stamping all over the writing and development) were the problem? THESE were the guys behind the mean-spirited joke that was circle 7. We have the utmost respect for the many talented artists, techies and peeps. But that's one huge, head-in-the-sand chance you're talking about dude.
Oh, that made ME remember - FUCK David Stainton. Grrr. -
The gags were spot on in typical Toy Story fashion, and the "you guys were worried line" was clever and actually reassuring, but when am I going to get my Bug's Life sequel ?!?
-
Never.
-
I kinda wish they did what the Simpsons did after Phil Hartman died and retired the character after Jim Varney's death. Yeah, all we've heard is a grunt so far, but I always find it distracting when an animated character gets a voice change.Still, this teaser made me smile overall. PLEASE don't screw up the best sequel ever made with a lame threequel...
-
This is AICN. You and I are the only two people here who like A Bugs Life. They'll probably ban us now.
-
The only hard part would be coming up with a villian as ubercool as Syndrome. Don't suppose they could bring him back...?
-
Quoth Michael Eisner. Next to "Mission Accomplished", it's the lamest, most clueless, most head-up-any-given-assedness public pronouncement ever. Oh, and the new Muppet comic books suck toad ass. My kid can draw better than that.
-
That was funny AND gorgeous
-
Then you can see it as it was meant to be seen: in true 3D. Plus you get to see another great Pixar flick.
-
Up was great, but the theater was missing the Toy Story 3 trailer. I won't be going back because I complained to the management (I know, complaining about a lack of a trailer is probably pretty petty) and I got essentially a shoulder-shrug in response.
I tried not to get too out-of-sorts, but I mostly was pissed because my wife is a HUGE TS fan and was really looking forward to seeing the trailer on the screen. -
Im over retarded kids movies, sequels, prequels, and remakes.
PS TAKE DOWN THAT TOY ADD FOR INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL. THAT AD MAKES ME CRINGE AND WANT TO NEVER COME BACK TO THIS SITE AGAIN. TELL HARRY THEN SPIELBERG RAPING INDY IS NO BETTER THAN MCG RAPING TERMINATOR. -
Toy Story 3 trailer is only attached to 3D versions of Up.
-
GIANT PIG!!!
-
Thanks bingcrosbyb.
-
Yup. You'll get old and no one will love you anymore. Two hours of that. It's enough to make you commit suicide. What a cheer little topic for a kiddie film.
-
Quicktime sucks hard.
-
rock my balls! AMERICA!! FUCK YEAH!!!USA!USA!USA!
-
One of the greatest animated films ever made gets pilfered again. TS2 honestly pissed me off. One of several films I've walked out of ~ a bunch of retreaded tripe. I will not see this under any circumstances. Boo on all accounts. Enjoy more toy sales, Pixar.
-
You walked out of Toy Story 2? Are you effing nuts? Yes, it's true that most sequels suck, but Toy Story 2 is one of those rare exceptions to the rule. Toy Story 2 is one of the best sequels ever made. A sequel that's as good as (if not better) as the first one.
Whether Toy Story 3 will be as good as the first two, I don't know. But knowing Pixar, it will be at least very good if not great. I don't think they would make Toy Story 3 if they didn't have a great story worth telling.
