HOBBIT director is flying into Meltdown Comics from NZ to acknowledge THE STRAIN!!!

Hey folks, Harry here... Right before my INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS trip, I got sent an early copy of THE STRAIN. If you don't know what THE STRAIN is, it's probably because you're one of those dirty thieving adblocker succubusi that browse this site without the ads! You're contributing to the death of the internet by doing that btw. Anyway, THE STRAIN is the first of a trilogy of wonderful Vampire Apocalypse series. As I flew to Berlin, I began reading the novel by Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan, and instantly was enthralled by the opening tale, that is actually one of the most haunting and tender works that I feel Guillermo has ever been associated with, but then we join the modern day story with something that all at once evokes the dread of the dead ship arriving in Bram Stoker's DRACULA - but is completely handled with the realistic fears of the day, the fear of biological agents, terrorist threats, etc. But quickly as the mechanics of "discovery" get underway, like in a good Crichton story we have our lead expert brought in - and things begin getting really really tense. Freakishly so. Reading this section on the plane actually made me put it down, till I was back home about a week later, where I picked it up and read it through in a single afternoon. This is not Anne Rice vampires or Stephenie Meyer diamond thighs. This is HORROR vampires - more intensely horrific than any that we've really seen in film - and I really do hope to see this series of books transformed into film, though I can't imagine Guillermo would have time for it, for at least a decade or more. But you can ask him about it yourself if and when you go to MELTDOWN Comics' booksigning event. If you've never met Del Toro - this is a very good chance to meet one of the warmest, kindest and engaging people you'd ever find yourself presented with. This is a promotion for THE STRAIN - and I imagine you should probably line up early if you want to be sure to get a book signed. If you go, be sure to tell him, "Harry said ANTI CHRISTMAS is in the future kid room for good luck" Here's all the details on the event:
