3D Holographic TERMINATOR SALVATION poster video pretty amazing looking!

Hey folks, Harry here... This is pretty darn nifty! I'm a fan of motion picture advertising. Before AICN, I sold movie memorabilia ranging from Silent film to modern posters - and the thing that I love is how the film industry is always trying new technologies. Like that old school Lenticular poster that existed for 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY for the Cinerama engagement. Well - at the Arclight in Los Angeles, they have a Holographic poster that seems to be quite remarkable. The video doesn't quite give one an awe moment, but I do find myself wondering - is this Holographic or a different format. Whatever it is - it is way cool... Thanks goes out to Catmonkee!!! Turns out the company that did this was: and they have a far superior video of the poster. Now they just need to make it relatively inexpensive for wide usage - then let's have a Jennifer's Body MEGAN FOX no nipple 3D poster on the dock! Right?

    by Fa_Tass_DinoMolester

why? UH-OH! But that poster is quite'd be even cooler if that giant Terminator standing next to it were holographic too, but all well. One reason I'm actually looking forward to this: it's effects and production design look pretty damn good. Wolverine cost $150 million and looked like it cost about 60. Now, hopefully the script will be strong enough to carry the film despite McG's pedestrian directing skills.

Pretty much the coolest looking sci-fi (not the channel) project in a long time. From the guy that made the original Jurassic Park logo (awesome) and created the coolest version of Batman to ever be filmed (definitely not Bale but Batman: Dead End). Instead they promote McG shit.

Harry, this tech is actually old

    by ShiniGamiSan

I have used this in the past. The Chinese have lensticulars, that you can get in up to 32 frames on the project I used it on. And that was maybe 4 years ago. I had some posters made for a NFL display, and as you walked by, a football player would run and catch a ball. The animation was perfect. Can't remember the company, but their business cards were a cube like a rubix cube, and as you tilted it, it would explode, and then tilted it back, and it re-assembled. It was flawless.

    New Review/Interviews for Terminator!

    by BLEST

Review from College Times is 3 out of 5 stars, saying it's "a surpisingly decent action romp into the future". <p><p>Cool interview with Bale and McG in EW where Bale talks about himself and the crap McG gets, and so does McG. A quote: "''I had this guy sitting there saying, 'Christian, didn't somebody ever take a leap of faith on you to do something radically different than you've ever done before? Give me that opportunity.' So I'm thinking, 'Oh, f---!''I had people telling me, 'Don't do it, Christian. Don't go with that guy.' In a strange way, I like the fact that he keeps that name because it does him no friggin' favors,'' says Bale. ''But people hear it and they go, 'F--- him!' People were telling me, 'Christian, you're too good for Terminator.' And I'm thinking, I'm too good? I'm not a snob. I really f---ing enjoy watching a good action movie. Who do you think I am?!'<p>Link:<p>Also, check out the new cover for the EW...professional.<p>

Non-fan declares McG's the BEST. TERMINATOR. EVAH.

    by gruntybear

Let me just preface this by saying that I've always had zero interest in this whole, silly Governator-as-android time-travel franchise. The same goes for my non-fan wife, my non-fan offspring, and all of my non-fan acquaintances, relatives, co-workers, family and friends. I once saw the phrase "I'll be back" on a t-shirt and just couldn't get the "That's what she said" joke out of me fast enough. I mean, I've never really cared for movies about, y'know, savage killing machines traveling back through time to destroy the leader of the human resistance. That shit's for 4,000 lb. mouth-breathing nerd-boys locked in their mama's basements, masturbating over their Eddie Furlong action figures. I mean, with the three films, the endless stream of television episodes and who knows how many asstastic comic book adaptations, this was a franchise that was just begging for a total "makeover." 20 years of terminating is just 19 years too much, M-I-RYTE? Far too much continuity and "baggage" for my twittering, little, ADD-addled mind to handle. But in the past 24 hours, McG's super-deluxe, el-fantistico, mega-shiny, total re-envisioning of the Skynet mythos has just made me the most biggest uber-fan you can possibly imagine. It was ammmmmaaaaaazzzzziiiiiinnnnnnnggggg!!!! I just shut what few electrons were still firing in my brain totally off and sucked down this cinematic masterpiece like it was orgasm-candy served over a bed of epic win. This ain't your father's Terminator! No sirree! And good riddance to all that Austrian-lispy Schwarzenegger bullshit - in fact, piss right on that boring-ass bullshit. Who needs some low-budget Cameron student-film, complete with cheesy 1980's effects, when we can have balls-to-the-wall CGI in which every frame practically drips with grit? I had to wash my mangina twice after watching McG's nu-Terminator saga, just to get all the sand and gook out. Long live Nu-Terminator. It's what "The Terminator" should have been all along. Those asstards in Hollywood just could never get it right. Make mine McG!

    by Big Dumb Ape

It's a very cool poster and if you check out the link and the official web site for the company, they do have some cool other posters -- including 2 for DARK KNIGHT.<p>On the other hand, as cool as this is, it's certainly not going to take off till the price point comes DRASTICALLY DOWN. For crying out loud, they want $1,000 just for the "initial consultation" to even discuss what you want on the poster! Then $2,000 for set-up, and then the price drastically escalates from there based on the size.<p>Seriously, what theater owner (or studio publicity head) is gonna drop anywhere from 3 to 10 GRAND on a freakin' poster?

It ranges from Cannibal Corpse to N.W.A. to even some Depeche Mode. I've just always found NIN and Tool to be extremely overrated and I find their music boring. Plus the majority of people I've met who are hardcore fans of either are usually pretentious dicks. (Not saying either of you are, that's just been my experience with fans I've met)

Wonder if they'll do an Angels and Demons one where the pope blesses you as you walk by while Ron Howard takes him hard from behind. And a Transformers one where you see Optimus transform while Bay runs around in the background chucking cash into the air. Or a Coraline one which changes .2 of a millimetre each time you walk past. Or a Star Trek one which doesn't actually change at all in any way it just appears to be shiny and new. Or a Drag Me To Hell one that actually grabs people and PULLS THEM DOWN TO HELL! Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself, can't wait to see what Cameron does for Avatar though.

Allow me to quote from the Book of Bale, 6:66/420

    by conspiracy

"And Bale looked down from his lofty seat at the top his Profession and saw below the tiring, withering toils of the untalented hacks and did say unto himself; 'These are nice guys...but Fuuuuck', 'are they professionals or aren't they?', and reaching down with His mighty hand did lift from his lowly station McG, a director of no repute and dispised amongst the faithful. Taking McG under his care, Bale, did show McG professionalism of such magnatude and wonder that the world was made known too it. Amatuers came to know the despised name of Hurlbut, of trashing lights and punching cunts, of kicking ass and not needing breaks...His Professionalism knew and knows no bounds, for he is Bale"</p><p> Friends....what we can learn from this passage is thus; even though McG stays a lesser man even amongst amateur men, we are all the better for Bales presence upon this set, He at least will give 110% and make these fucking amateurs give us our moneys worth though this flick not be perfect.</p><p>Bale be praised!

i've been hating on TMcG for months now, but the introduction of Star, the mute black child who's always handy with a flare when you need to explode a tanker truck, made me change my entire opinion. All of a sudden Terminator is no longer about robots or time travel: it's a statement on we as a species and how we can transcend race. For that McG, I salute you. And I will salute you even further by eating this delicious Pizza Hut Pizzaco, two layers of meat lovers pepperoni pizza sandwiched between two deep fried flour tortillas covered in Chamalango sauce. Dear fucking people of the advertising world: Stop pretending you're just an average joe who happened to stumble on to something awesome and just uploaded it. You're such a fucking give away... <BR><BR> Oh yes... lets be sure and include a shot of where we found this awesome poster we stumbled across at the *beginning* of the clip. WTF... no one would ever film a marquee *BEFORE* they enter unless they knew what they were going to see... also the fact that no one else is around is sort of a giveaway too...<BR><BR> Any real perosn who have just only shot the T4 poster. If you wanted to fake it properly, then you just show the poster and then pan over at the end like the guy is shutting the camera off and you sneak in something that identifies it as the arclight, a sign, poster, whatever. <BR> OR you just have the balls to identify it in the video description instead of in the clip and know that people will come see it because it is pretty cool.

Which is a very unfortunate condition, I only know this becos she did an interview on Oprah where she revealed the secret that she has this really shitty condition. And she basically said that it was one of the main reasons for their divorce. And if you know anyhting about Bipolar, that makes a lot of sense....

And that is completely at odds with how empowered, strong and independent women characters are portrayed in his movies no? And does anyone think Gale Ann Hurd, Kathryn Bigelow, or Linda Hamilton fit the profile of women that would allow that to be done to them? Hurd is an expert shot, and would have shot Cameron is he tried to do that. And Hamilton could probably have beat him if she wanted to...(circa her physique in T2)

For me Pretty Hate Machine is up there with The Stone Roses, Appetite for Destruction, Led Zep I, Vengeance and Hot Fuss in my all time list of kick-arse debut albums.<P>The fact that Trent Reznor made all the music himself and he had to kick down so many doors in to get it recorded makes its release one hell of an achievement.<P>Perfect music to listen to when dumped. So much so that when kicked to the kerb by my first 'true love'(Ha!) it twisted me up so bad I was left wrong about a great many things for a very long time.<P>Evrything after Downward Spiral licks balls though.

    by DOGSOUP

I can see how you think so about NIN too. I was the same way. I was a HUGE NIN fan back in the early 90's until every album was focused on his own dick. Lost me there and I branched deeper into more obscure and exciting industrial bands. Recently the guy put his entire Ghosts album online with the creative commons license so anyone can have it and do with it what they will. It was good. Really good. Atmospheric and cinematic and no penis lyrics, or any other lyrics for that matter, to be found. So for me early NIN and recent NIN are worth the attention. I also had a chance to hear Year Zero which I discovered to me my favorite album to date. I saw them live during the Lights in the Sky tour and it was one of the best shows Ive seen. They use all their budget on cutting edge stealth screens that was the Real IMAX comparison for the concert experience. He's a chubby egotistical bastard but damn he works hard to make it work. Now, Ive always loved tool since Opiate and have found its just one of those bands you either love them or you dont. You have to admit though Maynard is a hard working individual trying to do enough different things to advance himself as an artist. Tool which sounds nothing like a perfect circle which sounds nothing like Pucifer. I feel its refreshing to see someone TRY to advance their medium instead of getting famous for singing about bitches and beer. Now I can't argue your tastes because the variety is solid. All of those bands are Venerable in their genres and unfuckwithable. Even Depeche Mode, love em or hate em, they're STILL doing it and still relevant. In conclusion, the name McG as a liability to overcome is fucking pure comedic GOLD!

as cool as this is, looking at advertisements around the country (capital cities such as London etc), video screens will become standard fare for cinema advertisements before this gets a shot. It's cool, but not as cool as an actual video poster. C'mon, think about it: cinemas install standard sized screens in all their 'poster spots' with some larger displays throughout the cinema (studios pay for use of the larger ones of course) and they play video files. MUCH more efficient to send video files to a computer to play on the screens than keep sending posters through the mail etc. Common sense people!

It was just a humorous take on Cameron's reputation for abuse. The guy is a certified prick. That's why he and Schwartzengger got along so well. Even Kate Winslet spoke about his verbal abuse on the set of Titanic. Imagine what he does to a woman in private. As much shit as he's dished out I seriously doubt he's harmed by a talkback post. The Fragile(despite it's sometimes cringe inducing lyrics) was NIN best album I think. As for Tool being overrated, I think you're a little off there too. Tool is great. Maybe it's their fans you can't stand. That's understandable.

The Fragile's arrangements were awesome indeed

    by DOGSOUP

But those "cringe worthy lyrics" are what made me go "Ya know what? I'm done here." Years later it was the instrumental music that brought me back and a concept album that made me listen again. The live show is what brought me back into the fold. If you can't pull off the shit live then you have no business making an album. Not only did that show make me feel like the excited 15 year I was in the 90's (Pinion into Wish....yup...I lost it) but they pulled shit off I had never seen before. They played for like 2 hours from every single album (including interludes with some of the Ghost tracks) and people were talking about it for weeks later. Check out Lights in the Sky Tour on YouTube for a little bit of what Im talking about. They've always had amazing shows but this time you can actually see where the money is going. In the musical landscape of disposable pop tarts and Murican Idles I latch onto artists who actually push themselves and their performances and I feel recently Trent's been doing that. I feel Maynard never stopped.

Does Harlan Ellison get money every time....

    by successor

<p>...they do a Terminator film? I wonder, because Cameron stole the basic ideas and storyline for Terminator from Ellison's Outer Limits episodes "Soldier" and "Demon with a Glass Hand." He also stole the idea of the big super defense computer Skynet from Ellison's short story "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream," where it was called AM.</p> <p>The biggest irony is that Ellison said he would've let Cameron have the stories for nothing if he asked his permission directly and gave him credit in the movie.</p> <p>I think Cameron should have given Ellison the credit for the shows and story, as well as to the film Cyborg 2087. I like him a lot as a writer/director, but such underhanded dealings tarnishes his reputation. He even admitted that he did it to an interviewer!</p> <p>Here's a link to an interview on Youtube about it:</p> <p></p>

I'm going to the NIN/JA show in Chicago. I hessitantly bought the ticket though. Besides a case of agoraphobia, the last few albums from NIN have been a little lackluster. I believe the last one was probably the best since The Fragile. If they can recapture the feeling I got when I saw them open up for David Bowie, then that's more than I can ask for. I suppose for some artists, being sober really helps. As for Maynard and Tool, the last album was decent, and Puscifer isn't really my thing, but I will always go see Tool shows, because for my money, they're the best live. I've seen em six times, and have been sober for 5. They're such a great live band.

T2 May As Well Have Been PG-13

    by LaserPants

It was light, it was limp, it was boring, it was kiddified, it featured almost no violence and gore, what violence and gore was there was almost invisible, implied, or buried by blue tints. If it came out today, T2 would be rated Pg-13, maybe even PG. It was terrible, terrible, TERRIBLE movie that all but completely betrayed everything awesome the first one set-up. Seems this one actually delivers on the original premise and doesn't gay it up with needless, stupid, pandering digressions to father-figure bullshit for whiney emo kids with no lives (and even worse taste) from some affluent suburb.<br><br>Waits to be seen what this will turn out to be, but everything I've seen looks awesome and has a lot of potential. Ogf course, all the haters, Jim "Diminishing Returns" Cameron's cock jammed firmly in obese virgin mouths will "hate" it; they'll hate it the first time they see it, the second, on up to the 600 or more times they watch it opening weekend, covereed in snask food detritus, flaky skin, pimple pus, tears (of sour defeat and eternal virginity in the Moms Basement of the Soul) as they whine, and flail, and fail, and fart, and masturbate and weep as they realize, slowly, like a snail crawling along the edge of a straight razor, that T2 SUCKED and T:S is actually pretty fucking cool.

No, liking whatever a director does no matter how much it sucks means you are *metaphorically* taking it up the ass. T2 is a lazy, boring, piece of shit from a lazy, boring director who USED to be very good (ALIENS being one of my favorite films). You're welcome. PWNED.<br><br>Btw, never said that T4 looked like the best film in the world, BUT it looks a whole helluva lot better than T2: WE WUB WOO WOBODADDY: A Children's Terminator Adventure. Even the advance reviews are saying its MUCH DARKER than the previous two installments. Of course, that doesn't mean its going to be great, but it will probably be good, and its already better than the nadir of the series, T2: MEDIOCRITY UBER ALLES. And PWNED.<br><br> But, wait, wait, cause this is hilarious -- are you bashing T4 because its being mass marketed? HAHAHAHA! Really? Do you remember the LUDICROUS amount of hype and silly marketing campaigns that T2 had going on at the time? The AWFUL and insipid looking toys? The PAINFULLY AWFUL Guns and Posers song? Oh, no, thats right, you probably don't because you are clearly about 15 years old and only ever watched T2: WAAAH! on dvd in the last 5 years. What a hypocritical dolt. And PWNED again.

    Laser--one more question..

what the fuck do you mean by diminishing returns? Cameron is a rare filmmaker who has gone 7 for 7 in directing. Also, Cameron, contrary to what the haters think, is a pretty good writer. in ALL OF HIS FILMS, you at least care for the characters. other than a couple of SUGAR RAY songs, what does McG have to show for his writing skills?? Do you honestly want to tell me that you think the man who produced the FUCKING OC is a better candidate to helm the Terminator franchise than it s own creator. RESPECT motherfucker!

compared to the hype around T4, T2 had no hype. Guns n roses song kicked ass, which by the way was in film for how long? and i hope you're not bitching and moaning about "the father aspect", if you can call it that. who gives a shit that they gave the cyborg a little humanity??? that was the whole fucking point you mongoloid!!! a cyborg that resembled the one that tried to kill his mother, comes back to protect him. He by all accounts should not trust the robot, but he does, and in time, so does Sarah. thats the whole fucking point. By showing the robot compassion and humanity, Sarah regains hers. If you have a problem with this--ive gota big surprise for you--it looks like they do the same with Marcus in T4. John will trust himby the end of the film and they will respect each other. you know nothing!

dont claim to know how old i am either. you trashing the gnr song shows your lack of taste in music and inexperience in it. you were obviously born after T2 came out and probably stood in front of the tv when it was playing and you daddy threw a beer bottle at your head and told you to go to the shed and get the belt for ruining his funtimes. i feel your pain, jackass.
