Renewals For PARTY DOWN & LIE TO ME!! Series Pickup For DC Comics’ HUMAN TARGET!! DOLLHOUSE Not Wiped Yet!!
I am – Hercules!!
Upfronts are next week and we’re getting early news of many episode orders:
* Starz has ordered a second season of the Rob Thomas sitcom “Party Down,” according to E!’s Wanda Two Saints.
* Fox will bring “Lie To Me” back for a second season, with Shawn Ryan (creator of “The Unit” and “The Shield”) joining as the series’ new showrunner.
* Fox has also ordered to series “Human Target,” based on the long-running DC Comics character. The pilot, penned by somebody named Jon Steinberg, stars Mark Valley (“Fringe”) and Jackie Earle Haley (“Watchmen”).
* And Joss Whedon late last week pitched to Fox execs his ideas for a second season of “Dollhouse,” according to the Hollywood Reporter’s James Hibberd. Hopefully it was a great pitch, as Friday’s “Dollhouse” season finale, situated in Fox’s Friday Death Slot, scored the series’ lowest ratings to date.
By the way, the “Dollhouse” DVD
and Blu-ray
season sets will include both “Epitaph One” (the Whedon-directed bonus episode Fox has so far elected not to air) and “Echo” (the never-aired original pilot).
Fox announces its autumn schedule Monday.

Fox = Lucy with the football.
Every frickin' time and he never learns. -
Its the day of the Lost finale, and all we get is a talkback about the renewal of some show on the fraking Starz network that no one watches anyway?
-
That show is hilarious.

I thought he'd be ecstatic to see a talkback mentioning Party Down?

that they even wanted Joss to pitch for a second season. Thought for sure it was toast...

Good read!

Was drowning in work until just now coming up for air. Party Down is Emmy worthy. From the series on down to its guest stars - Enrico Colantoni, J.K. Simmons, Steven Weber...(continued next post)

in PD's season finale. A supposedly blue-streak-talkin' KB. Her first premium cable series appearance since Deadwood 5 years ago. WOOT!
-
for Fox. Adam Scott is tied to Sarah Michelle Gellar's HBO series pilot, and isn't Ryan Hansen a semi-regular on the Melrose Place spinoff? Jennifer Coolidge debuts on the show this Friday as Lynch won't be in the final 2 eps due to that Glee commitment.
-
The Peter Milligan miniseries kicked ass six ways from Sunday and it didn't rely on anything but quality character development and clever writing. If the show can maintain the frentic pace of the comic than it could turn out to be one of the best new shows on television.
-
Party Down has a short season.
-
I know HBO isn't doing it anymore but when is someone else gonna pick up the ball? I've read a ton of classic graphic novels. I have been a rabid Vertigo fan since Morpheus was bound, imprisoned, and left to rot in the mortal realm. I've been rooting for Dizzy to survive 100 Bullets since she was released from prison. Mature comics are the tits and Jessie Custer remains my all time favorite character in all of literature. I hope I live long enough to see some filmmaker tackle the controversial story.
-
I read the pilot last week. It absolutely sucked ass. Christopher Chance is a complete asshole, totally unlikable, and there's no identity swap. He pretty much just stood around the background and pretended to be a bodyguard which is way less cool than actually becoming the other person, IMO. it would've been great as a psychological character study.
-
Is it just me or is every other active on the show way better at slipping in and out of their characters than Echo? Just feels like I'm watching Eliza Dushku over and over. Meanwhile, Victor and Sierra are kind of amazing at how many different characters they can play.
-
I think that is kinda the point.
Each wipe she is retaining more and more of each imprint.
Victor and Sierra are doing multiple roles very well, but Eliza is just playing Echo over and over and over again.
-
Check out savethedollhouse.com to try to convince FOX this show needs to go on!
-
Both TSCC & Dollhouse aren't bad shows - just in a bad time slot. I just hope this season there's no competition time-wise from the new Stargate. Friday nights, unless it was a later block - I was out finishing up errands or getting my drink on until about 10pm (work 2nd job that night or early the next day), so I have little choice but to DVR SCC & Dollhouse. But I watch them the first opportunity I get - within 2 days. *crosses fingers* Didn't Buffy have initially crappy ratings, until word-of-mouth about the quality got out? Oh yea - and a different timeslot helped Buffy too.
-
Can people finally accept the fact that Whedon is a one-trick pony and that he can't write anything people give a shit about anymore?
-
don't hold your breath about Preacher. It's back to movie development now, but nothing new on the horizon. If it was considered too dark and controversial for freakin' HBO, no other network is gonna touch it. Maybe someday, Gaiman will oversee an animated Sandman miniseries for adults. That 'Death' movie is still in development hell, so there's still a chance we'll see something from Sandman on the big screen.
-
One last thing - anyone who was wondering about the 'prostitute' content of Dollhouse, needs to read that blog that the Chicago Trib article linked. I'll find it later, but it's an amazing take on the show, claiming that ultimately Dollhouse is Whedon's own critique of the industry, himself, and his own conceits from Buffy. One-Trick Pony, my ass.
-
Party Down is absolutely the funniest show on TV right now.
-
Thanks for the info, buddy. It saddens me that I may never get to see God get pissed off and bite the eyeball right out of Jessie Custer's skull. I would've loved to see the Saint of Killers walking away from that nuke in Nevada as if he were hit with a feather pillow. Damn, that series was awesome! C'est la vie. If we can't get some proper Garth Ennis action (those terrible Punisher movies based on the MAX line don't count) than I'm happy to settle with Neil Gaiman. Death: The High Cost of Living is great material for a film
-
Great show. Thank you Netflix for letting me watch it online.
-
I guess I'll have to give it another look. Hopefully, he'll steer it away from the borderline-actionable ripoff of HOUSE it started out as.
-
That is complete and utter bullshit! Why even call it Human Target if he doesn't assume his client's identity? That's ass-backward! They took away the only idea that made the character unique. Without that he's just another boring detective archetype that's been rehashed over and over again since television had color. Any anticipation I had is gone because it sounds like they gave Chance the Keanu Reeves/John Constantine treatment
-
when it was trying way too hard to be like the office, but now they let the actors breathe into their characters, it's pretty good.
-
I can get over unappreciated, yet brilliant shows like Better Off Ted, or Sit Down Shut Up, as I'm used to stuff like this being canceled, but had Party Down been canceled, I really would have been upset. Like Arrested Development cancellation upset. The cast is phenomenal, and it seems to get better every week. Like Breaking Bad.
-
is renamed "The complete series". Why Hercules pays attention to that show defies all logic. I am very happy to see Lie To Me come back though- Mekhi Pfifer joining the cast is very interesting. I would like to see where that goes.

And doesn't Steven Weber deserve an Emmy for last week...
by danielkurland
So, so good. I highly doubt it will happen, but the show really does deserve a writing nomination.
-
Wow, Joss Whedon is secretly criticizing the industry with Dollhouse? That's really deep! How could I have been so foolish?Seriously though, every show besides Angel that got cancelled deserved to be cancelled. It's time for ol' Joss
(and his fans) to quit making excuses and realize the problem comes from within. There is a REASON your shows are cancelled. Quit trying to sell me (and more importantly, yourselves) on the idea that the poor quality of Firefly, Dollhouse, etc. is because the networks interfered with his creative vision. If I were him, I would be thankful I even have a job at this point. -
I've been wondering the same thing. Fuck Joss Whedon.

Was'nt the Human Target already a tv show in the mid 90's?
by anakinsdiapers
Didn't it star Rick Springfield? I'm fuzzy on this but i think it was on ABC.
-
I've come to love this show. That being said, not sure how great it will be without Lynch.
-
"Fuck his dick off, and when he bends over and picks it up off the floor, fuck him in the ass." I laughed for 5 minutes afterward. Party Down is the shit.
-
Wow. Took awhile for you "Fuck Joss Whedon"-ers to show up on this one. Were you busy jacking off to A-Team reruns, or something?
-
is absolutely the funniest new show on air in years. The cast is brilliant, the writing is sharp as hell and - here's the clincher - it's FUN to watch. I love that show, so glad it's been picked up for more.
-
I really think that Sarah Connor was the weakest part of her own show, and that the series should come back as the John and Cameron show rather than bother with Sarah anymore.
-
It may be popular (it may not, I don't know) but c'mon. Even though I found the recent season of House to be a bit muddled and lack-luster it still beats Lie To Me as a procedural drama. Especially since The Mentalist came out at the same time, essentially doing the same thing only better.
I'd say time to retire LTM (and Bones for that matter). Give the people who do House, Mentalist, and Castle more funding and some smart-drugs from time to time and give us quality not quantity.
And spare some smart-drugs for Whedon and Co. They'll need them if they want a second season of Dollhouse to rise above the so-so-ness of the first season. Fringe should not be doing as well as it is, but I feel it really put Dollhouse to shame this year. -
I quite like how they portray Sarah Connor. In fact the more I think of it she's probably the best realised character on the show. Everyone else came across a bit 2D compared to her. John got to grow a bit when he confronted Jesse and lost Riley, and everyone else played their parts, but Lena Headey really played the complexities of her character perfectly. Her role was much more complex than Linda Hamiltons by a long way.
-
fox will probably go ahead and order a second season and then after the first 2 eps air, pull the plug just to keep whedon in line.
-
You had me at Better Off Ted, Arrested Development, and my current favorite, Breaking Bad (yes, its spooky how each episode is better than the week before, and that episode was PERFECT!). But Sit Down, Shut Up?? There's a reason Fox is burning off the episodes at 7pm on Sunday...they are terrible. Painfully unfunny.
-
heroes has sucked since the end of season 1. Dollhouse hit episode 6 and has gone from strength to strength, and the finale was fantastic! as was Fringe. and i hope sarah conner sticks around for at least one more season... i just wish someone would kill heroes.
-
i remember exactly one episode, but the premise was pretty simple: for one year's worth of your salary, christopher chance would take on your case and physically transform himself into his client until the case was finished. the client would be kept aboard his plane/stealth bomber/apartment until the case was over and no one would know, not even their wives. for 1992, that's a pretty damn solid premise.
fast forward to 2009 -- this shiz should be friggin' amazing. can you imagine how well we could now explore the complexity and psychological toll it would take on a person to literally become someone else on a daily basis? how cool the action could be? go the spy route with it. this could totally be the next fringe if handled right. but is it?
absolutely not. because it's on fox. instead of an awesome spy show with super jets and masks and voice modification, this is what we get:
christopher chance is a dick. from beginning to end, and i have absolutely no idea why i should give a shit about his character. after an okay teaser about a hostage situation in which chris screws up and gets blown up, we get his comeback mission in which the designer of the bullet train, a train capable of reaching speeds in excess of 200mph, finds that her car has been wired with explosives.
chris takes on her case, then floats around in the background as a sort-of bodyguard on the day of the train's inaugural ride. someone tries to kill the girl, train can't stop, train might derail, etc. etc. i'm really downplaying it as it'll probably LOOK 10xs cooler but it's your standard runaway train scenario. christopher has partners who i obviously didn't even remember enough to mention in this and the best drawn character, stephanie (designer of the train) is likely a casuality of the week-by-week case and will be ditched altogether after the pilot.
i honestly can't see why anyone would watch this. there's absolutely no hook to the show and unfortunately, the characters aren't strong enough to support absolutely nothing happening. it's your usual tortured hero bullshit.
seriously, save your time. the rick springfield version was better. that's saying A LOT. -
Hopefully Fox will keep in mind what else was on during the finale.
-
Just to see Herc cry. Good news for Party Down. Show gets funnier every episode. Sure wish we could have has a PENULTIMATE Freaking Supernatural talkback last week or a big final this week but no lets continually talk about another Whedon disaster. I'm basing this on ratings not quality of the show fanboys and girls.
-
Terminator SCC is one of the best shows on TV and needs to be renewed. Ain't It Cool seems to talk waaaay too much about Dollhouse yet the kind of skip over anything Terminator SCC related... what the fuck gives?! Hell, I'll take Ghost Whisperer over Dollhouse!!
-
Perhaps I am being too hard on the guy. Still, I'm sure he couldn't give a squirt of piss for my opinion of him.
-
Why is this guy running someone else's show? Does he need some extra time to develop a new idea or something? Is he on a semi-sabbatical?
Also, does this mean that THE UNIT is officially dead? -
...I am so going to get on these forums and laugh my fucking ass off at all you Whedon haters who will no doubt be bursting blood vessels in moral outrage...fuckers.
-
...your comment about taking Ghost Whisperer over Dollhouse pretty much says everything we need to know about people who don't like Dollhouse.

Dont make it a movie, make it a limited run tv show, 3 seasons of say 12 episodes
-
Other than Dushkus ass that show is worthless
-
just curious
-
...it's done. No "save the dollhouse" campaign will work. It's the lowest rated show on FOX. One of the lowest rated on all of English language television. You'd have to be a total retard to think this show is coming back. The execs at FOX only humoured Whedon and his little pitch as a sign of respect to him and his past hits, in case he has another idea for a show. Instead of Dollhouse they should have just done the "Faith" spinoff. Then maybe that show would have lasted longer than my morning hard on.
-
It's about time.
-
I think Dushku is a marginally attractive woman. The concept of Dollhouse is compelling. But there's a reason why I don't watch it, and never will. It looks like it's about some kind of super spa where yoga is practiced. Visually it's just horribly old fashioned and staid.

Fox Should Pick-Up My 2nd Season Dollhouse Reboot Pitch!!!
by media messiah
As I posted several weeks ago, for your eyes only...at AICN.com...my original Dollhouse "Reboot" pitch really serves to turn the show into a linear easy to follow series, and will allow it to establish heroes that we can root for and get to know, from week to week, and enemies, that we can all love to hate, as they square off in an unfolding, and major conflict (a secret war of sorts). As for my pitch...here it goes again, just in case you haven't read it before:The FBI finally manages to bust the L.A. Dollhouse and frees its Dolls in the process. Recruiting the Actives as free thinking/free willed agents, who are programmed with new talents and abilties per each new mission engagement (while sucessfully retaining their original personalities), the agency's new operatives are sent in by the FBI to foil the clandestined mission/end game...of the 19 other Dollhouses which are hidden throughout the planet--and poised to launch a truly sinister plot which threatens the entire world. Well, that is my reboot pitch, one I designed to save the show. It will allow Echo/Caroline to maintain her original personality each episode...and each and every mission, while allowing her to experience a normal life and love off duty, or on...and add all the dramatic things that are currently missing from Dollhouse; also, my reboot will serve to establish recurring foes for Echo/Caroline and the mythos behind their personal/professional grudges and battles, from villain(s) to our hero. Again, the show needs an injection of personal introspective drama. Real, not programmed personal dramas, break-ups, love triangles...personal loses, and earned victories on the part of our heroes...as well as their heroic self sacrifices, all which will serve to better involve the audience emotionally, generate watercooler talk, and give the audience a personal stake to invest in, story arc wise. When you create an entry point hero, it allows the viewers to personalize that character and live vicariously through them, thus, we, the viewers, metaphorically, become our heroes. That is the most important formula in all great writing. You must have an entry point character, or characters, that the audience can relate to--get to know, involve themselves with, and root for. The current status quo of Dollhouse does not allow for that, and it is hurting the show. Well, Fox...and Mutant Enemy, this is my pitch! If you can't best it, please buy it from me--I could really use the money...and it is an intriguing reboot pitch, you must admit! Thanks for your time.
-Sincerely, Media Messiah -
You have completely missed the fucking point. That's the kind of shit that kept Dollhouse in the doldrums for five episodes. Typical tired-ass police procedural bullshit.
-
Bad or good it all comes down to numbers and if they ain't there it ain't happeneing.

Eliza running around A LOT more often -- as in every second of the fucking show -- in thigh high boots and leather dominatrix gear and looking extra hot and slutty. Striking a lot of poses bending over, laying in bed, twisting around, grabbing another female guest-star dressed in a similar slutty manner, that sort of thing.Other than that, it's a dead show and you're only kidding yourself if you think Fox is going to get behind a show whose ratings were down SO much by the end of the year and is one of their WORST performers. I agree with others -- I'm guessing the ONLY reason the Fox execs were willing to listen to Whedon is to keep a door open with him, to seem nice to him, right before they firmly planted their shoe imprint into his ass.
-
1) It's too much like an Alias set up. Something that's been done before. Joss doesn't want to do generic we've-seen-it-before television.
2) It doesn't give Dushku what she wanted from the show, which was the opportunity to play different characters every week (though not an athology show) and expand her range as an actress.
3) It won't save money. That is, it won't be cheaper than Season 1. And right now, Fox wants to cut the budget for season 2.
All of which is moot anyway, since we've told you before that neither Fox nor Mutant Enemy go to sites like this looking for inspiration, or worse, unsolicited advice that they will then decide to PAY for.
For someone who seems overly concerned and paranoid (on some days) about someone stealing your golden ideas, you seem remarkably blasé about posting them *here* and then hoping to get paid for them.
Seriously, do none of these actions seem remotely weird to you? At all?? -
is to ditch the stand alone episodes. I don't know why networks still think stand alone episodes are appealing?
-
when the shows are run in syndication, they don't have to be aired in any particular order. This is a selling point, when trying to sell the syndication rights.
You didn't think they actually cared about the audience, did you? As always, it's about the benjamins. -

Now do we get banned if we diss Dollhouse in this TB?

Because that show does not deserve another chance.....
-
That is because you do not worship at the altar of Wedon. LOL....
-
What a mess of a show. Really thinks it's much smarter than it is. And to all of you who inexplicably consider Whedon to be some sort of writing god, I give you this turd: 'I don't know anyone who can make you sign a contract to be a slave; especially now that we have a black president.'. ?! Worst line in a TV show I can remember...

Weden does not fail his audience. His audience fails him!
by darfurontherocks2
The ratings are wrong, the criticism is wrong, the network is wrong. The Wedon is right.
-
Whedon's offerings are constantly posited as high art by his fans.... Joyce is high art. This shit is vapid.... If it were art, the show would be able to stand without a hot female lead....
-
Any relation to Whedon? Seperated at birth? I need more so I can understand the Wedon. :)
-
If they don't then it will start up in the Fall only not to last a full season. The three Dollhouse fans would be upset. Hate for FOX to get three phone calls.
-
The problem with Dollhouse is that we have Fringe to compare it to. Fringe is how you do Sci-fi and adventure and philosophical musings and keep it all relevant to the story. And, Fringe is on FOX. So, to all of you claiming it's the studio's fault, I call BS. It's Whedon's fault for not selling his property correctly. Whedon has this 'look at me, I'm a writer' approach that does a major disservice to his material. It brings you out of the story and into navel gazing territory. And, his stories are all over the place. The characters are vapid and uninteresting and I have no desire to follow their exploits. The characters in Fringe are all unique and alive and vibrant. Olivia Dunham is an excellent female protagonist. Thoughtful, complex, delicate but powerful. Echo, especially when you discover who she really is, is so flat and uninspired. Walter Bishop. He would wipe the floor with the Dollhouse 'staff'. No Whed heads, it's Joss Whedon who fails his own creations. For further proof look at Abrams' Star Trek reboot; and look at Whedon's Firefly reboot. 'Nuff said.
-
I have been holding off on watching DOLLHOUSE until I can see the whole season at once. I can't say that anyone has really sold me either way - some people seem to dig it, some dump on it. Even the people who dig it don't have many positive things to say about half the season. My jury is out, but I'm still intrigued, and I'd like to see Whedon get another season if only because Whedon's shows get better after he establishes his cast and storyline during the first season. BUFFY had a shitty first season and an outstanding second season. ANGEL had a pretty good first season and an outstanding second season. If there is anybody who should get 2 seasons by default before writing his show off, it is that guy.
-
Coming to Blu-Ray in 4 weeks!
-
Fox must know something if they did NOT put Fringe in the Friday Death Slot....
-
If it comes down to deciding between DH and T:SCC, it is a no brainer. Terminator is far superior in quality already. Terminator has a potentially blockbuster summer movie coming out to boost it. Plus Terminator gets a lot of overseas financing that lowers production costs for the U.S. production company. If you notice, the producers of T:SCC are the ones who own the rights to the entire franchise, so there can be story continuity between the series and the movies.
-
Whe-don is the king! LOL

Gotta love the guy who gives a fake talkback to Supernatural (while once again dogging its fans). When have I "dogged" on SN? Post proof, you crying tard.
-
There are no rules in TB.... What? Did you just come to this site? This is my point and I dare you to challenge it: If AICN wants to censor TB, they should start with the prevalent bigotry in the TB, rather than Supernatural threadjacks.... The problem is that dissenting opinions are simply erased my AICN.... And that is puzzling.... It is clear that the people, who number more that Dollhouse fans, want a Supernatual TB. And yet puzzlingly, AICN is relegating any discussion to the zone....

Seriously WHAT THE FUCK is Herc's problem? It absolutely seems like a sell out job.
-
I'm not disagreeing with your opinion on the sometime willy-nilliness of the ban-hammer (I wasn't even agruing what you guys were saying about Whedon shows) but you are not getting anything done about it by ranting and crying. It's just fucking annoying to others. Keep it up, if that is your goal and what you think talkback is about.
-
Buffy. So why don't you STFU and go away.
-
Hey, did you hear Whedonites crashed Fox's viewer comments phone lines this morning? Man, Whedonites are fucked up! (I only called once, I swear.)
-
I talked as much about Supernatural as anyone in the Dollhouse talkback and he never banned me. The worst thing was some crazy person threatened to report me. Now I have heard some bad things from other posters who said they got banned and thier threads were deleted but it never happened to me. Personally, I am amazed that he posted anything about the SN finale at all (and was actually positive about it!) I understand the anger because if I had been banned I would probably be ranting and raving myself but he didnt. So I would just say support the zone even if it isnt as good as the talkbacks.
-
You complain about me often...but you show no abilities to best even the brief outline that I have written. If you can't out write that paragraph, or so, then you have no business critiquing me. If you can outright my Dollhouse outline, prove it by posting one. In a paragraph, or less, write something that bests the story arc that I am proposing...or mind you own business.
-
But the truth is people ARE getting posts removed and banned which is ridiculous. I could call Buffywrestling a flaming homo-turd eater and not get banned. But If I display my love for Supernatural (not even my favorite show) I do get erased or banned. And Buffy - good for you trying to save your show. Shit I called CBS a hundred times at least for the save Jericho lunacy.

for liking Jericho. Not a great show by any means but I just love Post Nuke world stuff.
-
BTW - Where the hell are they gonna take the show next season. I have LOVED this season until the last two episodes. They were just to dark for me. No humor. No music. just straight downer eps. I hope tonight even in the face of Armageddon we can get a bit of levity. I know the themes are dark and the stage is the end of the world..... but come on a little Dean smartass comment here and there would be great. The one thing they BETTER have tonight is Wayward Son for the What has come before montage. They have done it every season before on the final ep. Better not slip up and change it now.

Like I've been saying, repeatedly, I don't think the show is coming back. I did the very least "campigning" I could do by re-tweeting shit. That's it.

Im actually tired of all this BS as well. Its Herc Im mad at. Not you or any other Whedon fan. I love this site. I obviously love Supernatural. Just think we get a raw deal and the guy won't say a WORD about it. Just banhammer. Finally Angel and Firefly are two of my alltime fav shows and I never even watched Dollhouse because I figured this would happen. (Cancellation I mean)

MM : I don't have to write better than you, to know bad writing.
by v'shael
If you somehow think it's a prerequisite, well that's just another of your many delusions.
I don't have to be a chef to know when the meat has gone off. I don't have to be plumber to know when the water is turned off. And I don't need to be a better writer than you, to know that you can't write.
Apart from your obsession with question marks, your inability to self-edit, your poor spelling, your admitted dyslexia, and all the other issues you have working against you, the storyline you proposed to retool the show wouldn't work for the reasons I already outlined in a previous post. -

I have gotten banned twice.... My posts have been deleted
by darfurontherocks2
And I declare that I did not at any point insult anyone or even attacked needlessly Dollhouse. All that I did was thread-jack... I understand that thread-jack is frowned upon in other forums..... but not TB, where like I said, and many can attest, all sorts of unsavoury shit goes on. Now I understand BuffyWrestling that the Supernatural initiative may have been a tad juvenile... but it was consistent with TB. I think that it is puzzling that AICN, a site and positions itself as grassroots, selectively dismisses certain shows to the point where they delete TB entries.... People obviously want a Supernatural TB, and I am sure that all SN fans would gladly stay in their own space.... The problem is that there is no Supernatural space, apart from the feeble Zone discussion... What I feel as a Supernatural fan is that certain shows, despite being popular, are segregated into a lower sphere.... Unfortunately, us plebs responded by crashing the Ball.... So once again, I ask Herc or AICN: What is the criteria for banning? How can you let racist shit evident in TB thrive while clamping down on a relatively harmless thread-jack?

V'Shael: You Really Seem To Be A Non Disinterested Writer
by media messiah
I don't know if you work for Mutant Enemy as a member of their writing staff, or what, but you have an obsession with me, and specifically when I offer reasonable suggestions for the show. I have noticed that national and international critics have also pointed to frustrations they have had with the show, all centering on points that I have highlighted well ahead of the curve of popular opinion, which is now, considered the gospel. That fact is documented on this web site, if anyone choses to check my prior postings. So, considering that my opinion has been accurate, and the critics and fans (over the last several months) are only now catching-up with my critiques, that came well in advance of them (in terms of the view of the series)...I think that is a testiment to my skills and accurate analysis. You can continue to be jealous if you want, and persist in your personal attacks against me, but I will not respond in turn, since I have already won the battle, and the war.

That was an awesome show of pompous stupidity. I applaud you. You seriously think anyone anywhere truly cares about your Alias version of Dollhouse! HAHAHAHAHHAHAHHA you are awesome.
-
Darfur: I was here for the "thread-jack" (and I put that in quotes because as I said at the time, most of Dollhouse fans most likely watched SN as well) and I was all for a communal TB. I even named it "Friday-Free-For-All!", for pity's sake. And it might have worked if it wasn't for the SN spoilers. That pissed off a lot of people. Me, I'm a spoiler-whore, so it didn't bother me much. I usually catch SN later in the week anyway.
Tris: No probs, man. I apoligize too. -
It's true!
-
It's true! Because he's a complete tool.
-
That is exactly what I was going for, Alias meets Joe 90 (the latter being the series that inspired Dollhouse, in part). And that is what Dollhouse needs, a clear linear story arc where the rules are set, and the who's who, character wise, is set.
-
...as well, Agatha Christie...and famed author, tv writer, and producer, Stephen J. Cannell, is a dyslexic. Dyslexics are considered to be geniuses. Now, if you wish to prove me wrong...try besting my outline, for once.
-
Compared to what? Dyslexics that don't graduate? What does dylexia have to do with being a genuis, genuis? I bet you consider yourself a genuis just because you get up in the morning...
And fuck your outline, MM. Dollhouse doesn't need your help. It fucks up just nicely on it's own. -
...and a Media one at that?!!!!
-
that's all I have to say
-
So...again...assail me all you want, I invite it. Here is a list of famous people that you can read about who all have disabilities.http://www.bethpage.ws/kl/dmuller/Famous%20People%20with%20Disabilities.htm
For those of you who wish to read this list, cut the web address above, and paste it into your web navigators. If the address that I am posting shows any space, or spaces, in it...just simply take the space(s) out of the address...and hit enter on your computer keyboard, and it will take you to the web site. The list of celebrities is prolific, and is in alphabetic order. -

No one gives a fuck about your stale turd of a episodic police/spy show revamp. Dollhouse doesn't NEED a revamp, once it got into a groove it worked. So you'll pardon me if I doubt Joss Whedon cares about one unemployed writing student's demand from his work. I don't need to present an opposing revamp, because the show doesn't need one, and it certainly doesn't need one that turns it into like a CSI/Alias/cop show piece of shit. I've heard NO ONE calling for Dollhouse to resemble anything you describe.
-
Is that like the THIRD person on these boards you've accused of working for Mutant Enemy?
Man, I must have a LOT of spare time in my high paying writing job.
It seems to me like you deliberately misunderstand what I wrote. I'll spell it out again.
1) I'm not a writer and have no desire to be one.
2) I'm not obsessed with you anymore than anyone else who responds to your posts.
3) The dyslexia is just ONE of the many obstacles you face.
4) M.E. / Fox staff do not trawl the internet looking for unsolicited advice which they can then PAY for
5) You seem to alternate between paranoia about people stealing your ideas, and posting them freely on AICN.
6) Your suggestions are NOT reasonable, given 3 saliant points already listed. Joss doesn't want to do a show like Alias. Eliza doesn't want to star in a show like Alias. Fox wants to cut the budget for Season 2. If you can't work within the constraints laid out by reality, then why not just propose that every episode is directed by Spielberg in 3D, with lots of sex and violence?
Again, one doesn't have to cook a meal better than the chef, to know when the meat has turned. The people who tell you your reboot ideas are daft, don't need to provide better. That's not their job, any more than improving Dollhouse is YOUR job. -
I feel really complimented by the comparisons. CSI? Alias? I couldn't be more flattered. Thank you, and one of the other posters, for that. It seems exactly like what Fox needs, and that has been my point all along--and thank you for helping me make that very point.
-
...other than acting like a jealous individual with a self serving partisan private agenda. Now, are you a non disinterest party with respect to the industry, I don't know--only you do? I just put the question out there?
-
You aspire to CSI and Alias? Both those shows are formulaic crap. You are no messiah, MM.
-
I see you also manage to avoid addressing any of the salient points raised, once again. No problem.
Your continued use of double negatives (a Non Disinterested Writer) is still idiotic, but acceptably so.
And the fact that you see Mutant Enemy hiding inside of every talkback (or perhaps just *potential* Mutant Enemy talkbackers) would be hilarious, if it wasn't for the fact that's another indicator of a fractured mind. -
Look, I'm not trying to stiffle your creativity. Let it flow; let it grow, right?
But there is a difference. You are pitching a show that has already been pitched. It is straight up hubris that makes you want to fix things, that seriously, don't need fixing.
People who have watched Dollhouse recognize what is happening and they have completely adjusted to the *Adult* concept that bad things happen to good people and that good things happen to bad people. You try and change those two basic factors of the show and you get just another fucking "Shoot, BOOM, titties, high kick!" program.
One of the first notes that Whedon got from an exec when Dollhouse started was that it was "too much of a cable show; like The Wire". That is how much Fox thinks that their veiwing public are retards; like we can't grasp concepts unless they kick our teeth in wearing skimpy dresses.
I hope Dollhouse gets renewed because I think in this day and age, we need Television like Fringe, Lost and D'House to not only question your morals but to knudge them in a certain place.
Some of the best TV asks,"What would you do?" And then do the thing that you were not thinking of. -
I didn't say "Hi!" to V'Sheal.
Hi, V'Sheal! Did you see above? Some of those guys think I'm a total dude :) -

Cyber Stalking Is Not Nice...Buffy, V'Shael, & Reflecto
by media messiah
That is exactly what you three have become, cyber stalkers...who are stalking me. I am not interested in you cyber bullying and cyber stalking activities, so focus on someone else. BTW, I may not be on that list of luminaries that I posted, but my name is on a gold record...something I am certain you buffoons don't have.
-
Responding to your posts with anything less than praise is NOT cyber-stalking. It's a discussion on a talkback. Are you "stalking" the talkback? Of course not.
Cyber stalking would be if I started spamming your email box, finding your identity through nefarious means, pestering you on Instant messaging tools... that sort of thing.
Cyber-stalking is a real crime. Claiming to be a victim of it, when you're not, belittles those who have suffered it. -
but full-on joy for you for trying. He got too used to people agreeing with him when he first posted. I however, smelt crazy right off the hop.
-
of Maxim's Hot 100 this year. So SOMEBODY out there is watching Dollhouse. I predict Fox will see how well the DVD sets sell and then bring Dollhouse back in the midseason. And the problem with The Human Target series is: if the main character has to disguise himself as a different character every week, that's fun for whichever guest star is playing the person he's pretending to be, not so much fun for the person who's supposed to be the star of the show. It works in the comics, I don't know if it would work on TV. Even when Robert Downey Jr was pretending to be black in Tropic Thunder he was still recognizably RDJ. You need a more chameleonic actor than Mark Valley to pull off Christopher Chance.
-
I've never watched Supernatural, but I hate the idea of people being banned for asking for what they wnat via a discussion of their show on the main site. Curious.

The preview for Party Down's season finale is up on Starz.com
by pennsydeux
Goddamn, it's looking good.
-
Starz.com/PD.
-
and then NOT letting people post on it IS kind of funny though.:^P
-
Watching it now its pretty good so far.Is stiflers mom joining the cast?lol bluto coming back is awseome.
-
was rough.I shouldn't have drank so much last night cause that ending made me want to blow chunks.
-
It's like Herc is a party host, who then throws a wobbler because the guests won't talk about what he tells them to talk about.

Tonight is PD's penultimate episode; next week is the finale.
by pennsydeux
There's that "penultimate" word again! ;)
-
I waas wondering because I expected more of a cliffhanger from todays episode if it was the finale.
-
I can even picture his character as a talkbacker on here. Hard sci-fi, bitches.

Sorry 'bout that 2x thing.
-
he has to beg Fox for a 2nd season by pitching it to them like it was a totally new project, after they vetoed one episode and ordered massive changes to another.
Whedon is getting exactly what everyone warned him he would get. -
yeah the measure for what is and is not bannable is really really arbitrary around here. Harry himself told me it was an over-reaction and offered his apologies - still IP blocked @ work, tho.

Exerpt from Hibbert's Live Feed:
"Either way, we love that the “Dollhouse” decision is turning from a presumed demise into an 11th-hour negotiation. To paraphrase Hannibal Lecter: The broadcast world is a more interesting place with “Dollhouse” in it....
Fox's official decision could go down to the wire before Monday; will post updates this weekend if the winds shift, but as of Friday morning ... the rough draft plan of Fox's fall includes Joss Whedon's show"
-
"I'm hearing this as well. Probably 13-episode p/u"
-
Whedonites are going bug-shit...
-
thats awseome if its true
-
Fox are making the decision based on Joss's plans for Season 2, with little regard for the shows poor ratings in Season 1.
-
While I have, on rare occasions, agreed with something you've posted, your behavior today is beyond the pale. You seem to suffer from the delusion that you are somehow more important than the rest of us, that your opinions are indubitably correct, and that having your name on a gold record means something. You know how many gold records have been issued by the RIAA? You know how many of them are indubitably dreadful? You know that some of the greatest performers who ever made records sold mere hundreds or thousands of their records? A gold record means only that a certain number of people were talked into laying out cash for the thing. That's all.
I was quoted in "American Film" magazine, talking about film and comics and how Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons used cinematic technique in "Watchmen." Does that make me great? No! I suffer from bipolar disorder, an affliction shared by many very talented and successful individuals. Does that mean anything? FUCK, NO! Take a deep breath, buy a clue and grow a sense of proportion sir. Perhaps when you've done so, we'll take you more seriously. -
Ken Marino's best performance of the series, he really was a guy who tried to get his life together, only to have it dashed when the target of his affection, at the drop of a hat, was even more pathetic now than he was back then. Jury's still out on Jennifer Coolidge, and I loved the Henry-Casey dynamic especially tonight. He's staying; now to figure out of they have an immediate future away from PD. This is Marino's Emmy submission tape, I think in best comedy actor.
-
I only pointed to 3 posters who had made assailing quotes against me, you were not among them. Specifically, one of those posters attacked me as not being relevant for not achieving a certain level of success, that is, if dyslexics are geniuses--and although not every genius achieves success, I have had some. I then countered their words with the fact that I have a gold record, and that they, the 3 who specifically attacked me, don't. I did that as a demonstration to show that just because you are a dyslexic does not mean that you are an idiot to be laughed at and ridiculed, due to not being great spellers. That was the limit to my forwarded observation. No offense was meant to you or anyone else. I was simply fighting from a position of justice, not arrogance or meanness, as that would make me the same as the cyber bullies/stalkers who have been attacking me.
