Here's your chance to win the coolest Tyler Stout poster ever printed! Check out AICN's and MondoTee's RoboCop poster contest!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Being a longtime regular of the Alamo Drafthouse I was there when Mondo Tees began and have seen their great design work spread the Drafthouse name… Like their Badass Cinema t-shirt featuring the visage of Pam Grier that has rested between many a geeky pair of man-boobs and girl-boobs alike. Then they began doing poster tie-ins, using a wide variety of fantastic artists. The more popular of these is one Tyler Stout. I own a few of his prints, but what I’m about to give away takes the cake. Not only is it some of his best movie art, but it’s one of his most limited and unique pieces. Take a look:

Measuring 24x36 inches and printed on actual sheet metal this poster comes with a heavy price tag. Stout sold out of his batch on his personal page at $300 a pop. The Mondo Site (click here) has a few left at the same price with a very strict 1 per person limit. I don’t have the exact number, but the printing was very small due to the costs involved. Each poster is signed (well, etched) and numbered by Stout. Justin Ishmael at Mondo has very graciously given us one of these 10 pound hunks of badass metal to give away to one of our readers, so it’s contest time. And before the smart-asses come out to remind me of the Star Wars contest, I’ve decided to make this one a purely visual contest, not a written word contest. ROBOCOP is a favorite of mine… In fact, I met Paul Verhoeven at one of my first Comic-Cons… he was there promoting Hollow Man and I bought a RoboCop one-sheet for him to sign. It’s been on my wall ever since. As cool as that is, count me extremely envious of the lucky winner of this contest. Thinking back on the film, one of my favorite aspects is the black satire, especially in the commercials. Check out this youtube clip that features many of the ads from the first two films (my favorites are Nuke ‘Em, 6000 SUX and the overly aggressive car defense system):

So what I want from you is a print ad, something you’d find in a magazine in the RoboCop universe, perhaps taken out by OCP itself. The ad must be dark and on the fucked up side. Most importantly, it has to be funny. You can photoshop it, collage it, draw it, paint it, make it out of metal like Mr. Stout and Mondo did, whatever. But it has to advertise something and be darkly satirical. With the economic climate the way it is right now I’m sure there are plenty of things to satirize in a way that is funny, sad and not too far from the truth. The contest is open to anybody in the world, so international readers here’s your shot. What I need from you is an email sent to this address with the subject line I’D BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR! This email must contain your name, non-PO Box shipping address and your entry, in JPG format. Please limit the file size to one meg or less. Any bigger and I risk some bouncebacks and lost entries. If you want me to see a bigger file, you need to host it and send a link along with the smaller JPG. This contest is open between now and 11:59pm CST Thursday, May 21st. As usual, my decision will be final and hopefully it’ll be much more timely than my last couple. Good luck!
