4 Minute TERMINATOR SALVATION Internet Only Trailer in Glorious HD Quicktime!
Hey folks, Harry here... This time with a new 4 minute TERMINATOR SALVATION Internet exclusive preview. I wish the studios knew how to refer to things properly though. Everything advertising this says that it is a 4 minute clip from TERMINATOR SALVATION - no... this is an extended trailer. A 4-minute clip is 4 consecutive unedited minutes from the movie. Semantics I know, but I was slightly disappointed for a little bit that this was sporadic moments from throughout the film, instead of a really good 4 minute scene.
I don't know about the rest of ya, but this film looks handsome as hell - and I know the MPAA is letting films get away with some pretty tough stuff in the PG 13 realm - even though far bettter - they're letting filmmakers get away with MURDER in R-ratings.... so a holy fuck R still would have me jazzing far more towards this film. BUT I'm definitely jazzing for it. I just hope that it all comes together - watching this 4 minute assembly of nice moments from the film... it begins to lend itself to telling the overall story of the film a bit - and I like what I think I'm seeing here. I haven't read the big spoiler stuff - nor have I read a script on this. At this point, I'm just excited to see the film and I hope it lives up to the best of the Terminator tradition... if for no other reason than to save me from 500 whiney AB KING emails about "what would have been cool" or "When Arnold comes back" - which I know I'll be getting in legion after this film is released. Sigh. Here it is...

On other sites, its just a fuckin trailer!

It's funny how I care about movie ratings far more now than I ever did when I was under 17 years old, though for different reasons, of course. Now an unexpected PG-13 in an R franchise makes me reconsider whether I want to see it or not. This definitely does look cool though.
-
And, is there an embargo on a review?
-

Better than those ten clips released a couple days ago
by benlovescoolnews
-
Sheena: Queen of the Jungle with Tanya Roberts? Lots of boobage and maybe even a smidge of full frontal in that one and it was rated PG. It's been a good long time since I've seen a nipple in a PG-13 flick.
-
Seventh! I miss Linda!!!Hamilton!!!
-
OH YEAH
-
haven't you heard ?
-
"The devils hands have been busy" is off the charts lame. And that yelling dude covered in mud is like a fucking uruk-hai from lotr. Just as bad as those clips if not worse. And what's with the Apocalypse Now tree explosion?
-
...not!
-
My bad. Was just saying, that looks pretty good but McG usually does the visuals pretty well, it's the story that usually sucks donkeys balls. However, at least America is going to learn what a great actor Sam Worthington is (something we've known in Australia for some time now.
-
I didn't realize it was coming so soon, summer season kind of snuck up on me. I keep going back and forth on this, the trailers are pretty cool, the clips are pretty meh. The movie will probably fall somewhere between, T3's mediocrity mixed with T2's budget (adjusted for inflation, of course). It'll probably be better than your average summer blockbuster, though when your average blockbuster consists of GI Joe and Transformers the mean gets dragged down a bit.
-
Definitely love the costumes. Just found out my friend did the costume design/illustrations on this. Weird. I like the shot of the large robotic paw picking up the gray haired long hair. The terminators definitely have more of a mech feeling than transformers. And the BIKES don't look gay like that picture that was illustrated previously posted on AICN. Is that the Pavel Chekov? Classic. The movie industry really is that small. Great shot of the bike over the kid with the shotgun- Nice image. Action looks good. Special effects look nice. Nice motorcycle action shots. Well, the only problem is they showed the whole movie, which tells me that the chemistry and mesh of it might have some problems. Who cares. I'm gonna see it.
-
this really does look fun...and Chekov is really having a breakout Shia year, isn't he? I hope he doesn't crush his hand in a drunk driving collision in Malibu though..
-
Not wanting to put a damper on things, but do we really need another Terminator anyway?T1 was awesome, T2 was very good, T3 was ok and now here we go again. It's like having pizza every day. No matter how good it is, you still get sick of it after a while...
-
Shia is basically just one guy Spielberg took under his wing for whatever reasons, and that Spielberg put in everything. I'm surprised he isn't Tintin.
-
Actually, it is the end of the world otherwise it wouldn't be a Terminator movie. This film looks awesome. I know some people think that it's gonna be toned down and too kiddy friendly, but I don't care about the PG-13 rating. I just want to see relentless, addrenalin fueled FUTURE-WAR action. So what if its more Michael Bay than James Cameron. James Cameron teased us about the Future War but never really delivered (sorry, 3 minutes of T2 and 6 minutes of T1 wasn't enough!). I was bored of Terminator movies set in the present (another reason why T3 and Sarah Connor Chronicles failed) when all we really wanted to see was the war against the machines. Bring it on fuckers!
-
I don't know about nipples, but every Apatow film is full of the same tits.
-
Leaving aside the fact they are giving WAY too much away in trailers these days, that looked pretty good.
Bale and Worthington are both great, er, professionals. McG is pretty worrying still but this could change his reputation for the better.
Certainly worth seeing in the theatre. -
I think.
-
Is this movie losing steam or something? Warners needs to turn this Bale guy into a superhero. Then this Worthington guy into a superhero as well. Like a Green Lantern. All superheroes all the time. And then make a movie about the actual Warner Brothers with Shia as Jack, Emile as Harry and Chekov as Sam, some big dude as Al and Adrien Brody as Lewis.
-
BALE IS DISPLEASED WITH 'THE HATERS' OF TERMINATOR SALVATION.
THAT IS WHY HE MOMENTARILY SENT AICN BACK INTO THE PAST SO THAT IT MAY BE CLEANSED. -
For me, the best part of the TERMINATOR flicks was that little peek into the dystopic future, and this expands that peek into a bay window...can't wait.
-
Kirbdaddy and Frisco, TITANIC had tits.
The censors have seen Winslets tits so many times that they get an automatic pass. -
*sigh*... The geek in me is screaming "PG-13 Terminator? PG-13 Terminator?!? This'll be 12a here in blighty!!!" while the adult in me is saying "This looks just as violent as the first three... And it's PG-13". Welcome to the 21st century... There will be a PG-13 Hostel. Mark my words...
-
I just keep getting this strange feeling about him getting the role as the Younger Bilbo. I can't shake it.
-
This movie will fucking suck. Who cares If I haven't seen it. It's still going to suck.
-
I can see that.
-
Connor's future bike makes the Batpod look like a pile of junk.
-
if they'd decided to release just this extended trailer instead of those god awful 1 minute clips a couple of days ago. The dialogue and bale's 'phone-it-in' performance make this look decidedly weak, think i'd spend my money seeing star trek again.
-
Fuck Star Trek for movie of the year! This will rape Spocks nostrils!
-
WB should have held a special screening of T2 then have BALE show up and show T4. Then it would be the greatest movie since....uh well Star Drek: The Search for More Money
-
In Bale we trust
-
BALE BE HAILED!
-
all the...crazy!..times.
Thank you, Muh G. -
would be like Leonard Nimoy doing that salute thing to a trekker/ie.
-
Hey Harry, You've made my Mother's Day. I'm going to watch this thing 10 times over. I can NOT wait to see it.
And I have to tell you I have friends who have NEVER watched Terminator and are going to see this film. One of them came over to my house yesterday and we watched T1-T3 so she could know the story line.
Thanks again! -
Unsurprisingly it's officially been rated as 12A. Still cannot wait for this. Just have a horrible feeling my expectations are too high and I'm going to be crushed with disappointment. Lets hope not eh?
-
!!!!
-
And it has Giant Robots in it. I'm there.
-
That's not a clip, it's a 4 minute collection of clips - pretty good ones too, if a little spoilery, I suspect. Kind of wish I hadn't watched that now, I hope it hasn't given away too much. I'm really excited to see the movie now; pretty amazing considering when I first heard McG was onboard and I immediately wrote it off. Looks very nice, at the very least. I hope it has logic and an adult storyline somewhere in the mix too...
-
Is the Terminatrix in this one?
-
But why do McG's movies all use the same cinematography? It's kind fo annoying. I don't think it looks bad on this movie, but when you brand yourself that way, it takes away from the movie as a whole. Do what's appropriate for the story. He's becoming the Dave Meyers of the Movie world.
-
...wanna be excited for this and the trailerclip looks pretty an all, but for some reason I'm not convinced it's gonna be any good.
As usual, it's gonna come down to the director and McG still has be nervous -
looks like Mad Max lite meets Transformers. And, the ending to the film still blows.
-
total nerd... I was expecting someone with the bravado of Michael Biehn... instead we get Urkel.
-
I have to admit I'm bitter about TSCC so I wanted it to suck, but I'm getting over it, hope this movie rocks and kicks the shit out of the other big robot movie this summer.
-
You see Ah-Nolds naked body in the background after Marcus jumps down!
-
Unfortunately, it won't.
-
a good number of the last bunch of top stories were just captions to Apple.com trailers... Why don't you just link it on the main page...
-
...because they are just flop sweating that all the buzz is on Trek right now. It's weird because Trek should be fully in repeat business mode by then but anyone someone ELSE is making a single cent it makes people in the town nervous.
-
They just keep releasing more and more footage. First those NINE clips yesterday, now this. I'm not watching any of it. I prefer to not have full minutes of film that I've already seen when I go to the movies. It just gets anoying, "Oh, I've seen this part, the next four minutes are awesome!" Lame. Stop raping this movie with over-promotion. People who are gonna see Terminator are gonna see it no matter what, this isnt necessary.
-
THANKS Harry again for a great scoop. It may be a bit much of footage people should only see on the BIG SCREEN (As Arnold would say "pay to see me on the big screen") but exciting none-the-less. ARNOLD's cameo is getting some solid reviews and with Arnold about to soon start filming his scenes in L.A. for pal SLY on THE EXPENDABLES, both men are set to rule the action genre for at least another 15 years. FUCK Statham, Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel!!! Those guys are for pussies! THE TERMINATOR and RAMBO are here to stay! Can't wait for Harry's review of SALVATION!!!
-
I'm really growing tired of the months and months of multiple trailers, clips, stories and hype for every geeky movie out there. I gotta stop following this stuff. Who needs another trailer? It's out in a coupla days. Enough, all ready. The Trek and Wolvy hype was as bad.
-
this films screams to be rated R. Does anyone realize how shitty T1 and T2 would be if they were rated PG-13. Some franchises like Die Hard, Predator, Aliens, and Terminator are R rated material. If Idiots keep supporting these watered down versions that is exactly what we will kepp getting.
-
But I'm afraid it may end up being too full of explosions and over-the-top action, and not enough story. Hopefully, the fact that Bale made them do another rewrite before he signed on, means that I'm wrong.
-
bit of a leap of faith there, can't even see a face just a torso, one that's clearly a rubber latex model.
-
who wins there? i honestly don't know!
-
You could try the Terminator vs RoboCop miniseries from Dark Horse. Written by Frank Miller, and drawn by Walt Simonson. http://www.amazon.com/Robocop-versus-Terminator-Frank-Miller/dp/B0006OZH12
-
Wait, why was T2 rated R again? They say "fuck" and a 15 second scene where DER AHRNUHLD rips his arm off. Thats it! Everything else was straight up Pg-13.
T:S looks like its going to be totally fucking awesome, Pg-13 or not. Of course, trailers don't mean shit, so it may very well be "meh", but what I'm seeing looks aces. ALSO< and most important;y, what I've already seen completely PWNS T2 already. You know, seeing as how its focused on THE ONLY STORY THAT NEEDED TO BE TOLD, THE ONLY SEQUEL THAT NEEDED TO BE MADE -- FUTURE! FUCKING! WAR! Not a 2 minute scene of FUTURE FUCKING WAR, but a full length film. Not about ROBODADDIES, not about Whiny Emo Kids who like Guns N' Posers, but the REAL John Connor, the BAD ASS GENERAL OF THE FUTURE John Connor, and, as I have said, FUTURE! FUCKING! WAR! I can't wait for this. And I CAN"T WAIT for the RAGE-SPEW from the OBESE VIRGIN SET. -

Try Taking Cameron's Cock Out Of Your Mouth For 10 Seconds
by laserpants
And you might be able to admit to yourselves that this actually looks pretty awesome; at the very least it was great potential to be awesome.
-
UK certification is interesting...
TERMINATOR - 18
TERMINATOR 2 - 15
TERMINATOR 3 - 12
TERMINATOR SALVATION - 12
Only the first is 'adults only' the others all passed for teenagers.
-
but T2 is amazing so suck my cock LaserPants. I've heard this is basically a Summer action romp. I'm fine with that, at least they aren't fucking with the story and killing everyone.
-
May 10, 2009 10:27:45 AM CDT
PG-13 or R, it doesn't matter as long as the story is great
by darthbakpao
Why all the fuss?
-
By this reckoning T2 isn't as 'hardcore' as the first movie. Fact.
Fans can dress it up all they like but deep down probably know that T2 was more commercial / teen-oriented than the first. -
Praise Bale. He is fearless.
-
Not enough to trash a Bale movie, thank Bale. But distracting, to be sure.
-
This is 100% PROFESSIONAL!
-
WB probably saw our talkback on those lousy ten clips and quickly put this last minute trailer together. But it's a good last minute trailer. Elfman's score sounds better in this too.
-
Can't fucking wait for this!
-
Your only about a week late with this one..your getting better..
AI Slow NEWS! Nuke the Fridge was quicker then you AGAIN!!! -
That avatar is far more terrifying than Terminator, but at least Terminator does have glorious Quicktime going for it.
-
Surely they've released the whole movie in clips and trailers by now? I bet if someone assembled all of them we'd have the finished film on our hands. The only thing missing would be the 'Bale seal of approval' TM
-
Doh! Too late! AICN jumps the shark again!
-
TERMINATOR was reclassified as 15 back in 2000 (presumably for its DVD debut). Weirdly, the UK cinema release of T2 was rated 15, but the original home video release (the same edit) was an 18. That's since been reclassified as 15.
-

FUCKING EPIC. Finally a Summer film I can get behind....
by dannyglovers_dickblood
....this will fucking rule.
-
I'm not gonna get into that ignorant T2 debate once again. But yeah-- there is nothing tough about that movie. It had about 20 seconds of gore. Who gives a shit? This film will fucking destroy it in every way possible and in 20 years kids will look back at all the Terminator films and admit that T2 was some weak shit.
-
May 10, 2009 12:26:12 PM CDT
And to answer "Do we really need another Terminator?"
by dannyglovers_dickblood
No. Probably not. But then again....do we really need any other film? Pretty much every good film that is going to be made has already been made. I can live with what we already have for the rest of my life.
-
T2 was heavily cut in its theatrical UK release to even get that 15 rating. When the uncut version finally came out on lasrdisc it was rated 18. Years later the BBFC re-classified both T1 and T2 as 15. Why? because there's actually very little between them violence wise. Now, both T3 and Terminator: Castration have been classified as British certificate 12A uncut. Why, because they are both made for the teeny-bopper audience. They are both piles of festering faeces (T Castration: Termi Meets The Transformers, will be confirmed as such in a week or two).
-
Can't you just die, you cunt? I will even buy you the gun myself...or some sleeping pills and a bottle of whisky if you prefer. Your choice.
-
This is NOT the future war depicted in T1 and 2, this is Mad Max meets I Am Legend meets The Fast and The Furious meets The OC. So, even if you were looking forward to seeing that, you won't get it here.T2 pwns this teen nonsense - deep down inside you know it to be true. If you settle for crap, then that's what you'll get fed. All supporters of this cynical cash-grab are truly the enemies of quality genre movies. It is truly disturbing. You and McGimp, director of 'Charlie's Whores: Wank Rag For Obese Virgins', truly deserve each other.
-
fuck Bale. I am quite confident I could feed that one-trick raspy voiced false idol his liver in a fight!
-
I can always count on you, Danny!
-
Turd vs Bale... hmmm...
He'd bitch-slap you to the ground, pull down his pants, squat over your face and dump out a 'mister whippy' all over it, doing the hoola as he shits. -
Such a huge fan.
-
May 10, 2009 1:06:46 PM CDT
How can this not be the greatest film of all time?
by anything but tangerines
Ad wizards indeed. This is how you blow that 2nd trailer out of the water. Unbelievable!
-
The more I see the less intrigued I become. The whole Marcus as a terminator could've been a sweet surprise. But all McG apparently can't keep his fucking mouth shut. He's like the last de-virginized of your friends who won't shut up about the pig he nailed.
-
sorry this shit looks average in every way, minus budget. have fun being disappointed opening night!
-
I guess no one learned the lesson that was the crapfest "live free or die hard", and you still don't think pg13 matters. Oh in if you liked that movie then you're an idiot who can be easily entertained by watching paint dry.
-
Get a clue. R is for sex. This will have all the violence. Learn what makes our culture, newbs.
-
so cutting out yipee kaiyay mother fucker in LFODH was about sex? So no closeups of knee caps being shot out, like in DIE HARD 1, was about sex? OK whatever dipshit.
-
... but that was another actor. DUN, DUUUUN!
-
I wasn't sure what to think about the 4 minutes of footage, but I looked over and Kurt Russell was laughing, so I guess it was okay.
-
Who THE FUCK cares what they can get away with PG-13?!?I want a future war action movie with a HARD R, you fucks! So, all PG-13 apologizers: FUCK OFF and damn you all to hell!!!
-
... is because there will be fucking KIDS IN THE AUDIENCE! 12 YEAR OLD FUCKING KIDS. How does this not bother people? They are selling fucking Terminator TOYS, big plastic Terminator fists that children can put on. I hope this film is good, I really do, but god some of you apologists piss me off.
-
I agree with you Moto ... I'd even push for NA-17 mother fuckers. This is a war against a fucking killing machine. I want blood, guys, pets heads coming off, people melting, people burning, jaws being ripped off ... I want a fucking brutal terminator film with character dev and a strong story to tie it all together. The only reason studios are releasing the 4 min trailer is because this movie IS losing steam ...
-
all you guys who are justifying a PG-13 rating is because you settle ... you settle for the average. You suppose to look at a property like Terminator and ask yourself -- what is this movie really about -- if it's called Terminator, then its about killing, people dying. You're buying into their marketing agenda. This isn't about a solid, bad mother of a movie, this is about toys and happy meals and that shit.
-
what else is new. I've counted over 50 posts bagging T2. like the dude was raped by a sentient version of the movie. seriously dude, 95% of people who don't like T2 enjoy sucking lots of dick. SINESTRO CORPS WAR!
-
THIS MOVIE ACTUALLY AS A COMPLETE, 15 MN SCENE WHERE THE LORD BALE FIGHTS AGAINST THE GOD SCHWARZENEGGER -- STILL NOT ONE SITE AS REPORTED IT YET -- ALL THEY WHINE ABOUT IS AHNULD CAMEO -- IT'S AHNULD VS BALE UNPROFESSIONALS ! THE FIGHT OF THE CENTURY ! ONLY THE PRESENCE OF THIS SCENE ELEVATE TS WAY AHEAD T2 BECAUSE BALE DIDN'T FIGHT AHNULD IN T2, FOX MULDER REPLACEMENT DID
-
WHAT DON'T YOU FUCKIN UNDERSTAND ? EVEN IF SHOT BY A BLIND MAN, THIS MOVIE ACTUALLY AS BALE VS ARNOLD FIGHT ! T2 IS OWNED !
-
PROVE ME WRONG THIS SIMPLE IDEA MAKE TS A MASTERPIECE. OR MAYBE YOU PWEFER WY DYE YE CWY PUSSIES ? ARE YOU TERMINATOR PROFESSIONALS OR NOT ? SERIOUSLY MEN...
-
But hell it looks bad ass and I'm gonna see it.
-
i do. maybe im blind.
-
T2 AND IS ROBOT DADDY IS PAWNED ! EVEN IF THE WHOLE MOVIE SUCKS, THE SFX ARE CRAP AND THE ACTING BAD, AND IT'S PG-13, IT WILL HAVE BALE VS ARNIE FOLKS YOU CAN'T GO WRONG.
-
take the one minute of rated R footage in T2, and its still th same badass movie. People still expect Terminator to be a horror movie, which it hasnt been since the first. Its a big budget sci fi epic. and i like it!
-
well, at least this should be better than the third one. However, they shouldn't release too much more footage now, since they're starting to spoil more and more of this movie, and above all I want Terminator movies to be surprising and interesting again, not just about spectacle
-
The fact that the lights are totally wrong in this- and no one was able to properly correct them- will likely be what sinks it at the box office. A blatant cash-in without the original stars is a tough enough sell to begin with. But you add in the fact that the lights are completely untweaked, and people just aren't going to accept it.
-
Because T2 was heavily cut for the UK, that makes it hardcore? Uhhhhh do remember they also cut the Obi Wan/Jango headbutt, because those sorts of things are just a little too extreme for our friends across the sea. You have been forcefully entered, and shown the door. Kindly fuck off and shove your head in a fucking oven.
-
This PG 13 film, more than any other is going to suck my honking cock. What is wrong with you all?
This is a Terminator movie for kids! They have action figures out and everything! Boycott this catch-all crap. I guarantee you it will be the biggest disappointment of the summer.
McG =Ratner. Hack mutherfuckers. -
May 10, 2009 2:50:29 PM CDT
I absolutely loathed T3 - just awful, worst cynical cashgrab...
by labattsbleu
that being said, I am more than happy to admit, that the clips I have seen are promising, and that I really think it will be much, much better than T3. There are some things, continuity wise, I had wished they had kept or not put in more accurately (the Transformer terminators and the addition of even more time travel seem unnecessary)...But in spite of the decidedly 'meh' reviews so far, the clips look good...I guess we'll have to wait and see...
-
He was not going to be the main character:http://tinyurl.com/og6nha
what an asshat.so, if the story sucks, it is Bales' fault now -
Lionel Messi will be raping your eyes with Barcelona on May 27th.
-
Connor was already an established leader in the old script but he was hardly fucking featured and they treated it as the end of the series.
-
Are you going to bitch and moan and protest to not go see it? Just asking
-
Why are they showing everything? Sounds like they're really worried.
-
the story was awful beforehand. He actually made it better. dickhead.
-
Hell yeah. When was the last time he showed up in a really, really big-name SF flick's trailer? I'm talkin' total "A"-list material? STARSHIP TROOPERS? Good to have you back, sir. Where do I sign on?
-
Without looking at the rating, this movie looks really good. Everyone I know is talking about how good it looks.
-
May 10, 2009 3:11:06 PM CDT
Rating will not be a factor on the quality of this picture...
by davidia
As it shouldn't be. As of right now, I think it looks dissapointing cause McG basically has told and showed us everything. Look at TDK, one of the darkest and more adult blockbusters in recent memory. These films can be dark, adult, and engaging. It doesn't need close ups of knees blowing off, tits flying out, or f-bombs everywhere to succeed. And if that's what you determine quality in a movie by, than you're watching movies for the wrong reason, chief.
-
I dont understand that.
I remember seeing that for other movies too. When a new sequel comes out that looks questionable in some area, people bash the old movies in the series to defend it...to like bring them down to level or something? I dunno.
T2 was awesome and T4 looks like it could be good as well. No need to bash T2. -
Big budget movies like this one nowadays will always be PG13 because the studio wants the maximum amount of people to go see it and make the money back.
The Terminator was R because it was low budget and to sell it to the general public, it had to have some kind of appeal e.g. violence and gore. Plus films back then were made by people trying to push the special effects, today however special effects are in just about every movie made.
In a sense it’s just the same with T2 only that was big budget because Jim Cameron was writer/Producer/Director and he was confident it would make money. They still had to find a couple of smaller studios to finance T2 instead of a big corporate studio, that’s how it was big budget.
Unfortunately films made today that are R rated don’t get the theatrical support by the general public, even if they are old enough to go see it.
Just take a look at recent films that were R rated and some of them only just got their money back. Plus like I said before this movie, Today, only gets made with a Big Budget because big studios will not allow it to be made unless they have control of how it will be made because at the end of the day making movies is a business and the studios have to make a profit in order for them to green light the next big film for the next director.
-
Like I said before, imagine Saving Private Ryan as a PG13 movie.
-
In today’s film world movies are rated R by Hard sexual content, hard bad language and hard violence. Hard meaning realistic and somewhat disturbing, this clearly does not count in most sci-fi fantasy films and especially when they are big budget for reasons of my above post.
-
I rather like the silver hue that comes across on the daylight shots. As many of the TalkBackers here will know, the film was shot on color film stock with triple the amount of silver, with the aim of lending to a sense of detachment from our current state of modernity.
-
Look I can name a load of R rated movies that 'suck dog’s dick big time'. Saving Private Ryan had a lot going for it in the first place script/director/production unlike for example Punisher War Zone which was R but most people didn’t like it even though I heard lots of people raving about the trailers and how the hardcore violence looked great.
-
So why bother seeing it at all?
-
Imagine having sex with Megan Fox but you have no dick, that's what this movie is. Dickless sex with Megan Fox.
-
He's fucking great in CHARLIE BARTLETT as this generation's Ferris Bueller. I predict great things of Reese / Chekov.
-
Whilst McG tries to direct you. fucking shit.
-
Too bad he looks like a pussy.
-
You know it's true.
-
May 10, 2009 3:48:30 PM CDT
PG13 because violence is "less hardcore" because its machines
by six demon bag
people shooting at a bunch of cyborgs is okay and no there will not be any nudity (except ass) and not blades to the mouth but thats fine. violence for violence's sake is pointless. story will win anyday over such tripe. this clip is getting me a little more interested but i feel like i've seen all the good parts before its out. prove me wrong mcG, i will be the first to admit it, as Bale as my witness
-
actually think McG will deliver a better film than James Cameron. Hilarious.
-
Call my highly skeptical but I'm afraid there are going to be a lot of people getting fucked in the ass on this one. And that ain't a good thing. (Although, some of you deserve to fucked in the ass by McG on general principal.)
-
Lighting was a bit off...

The more I see badly compressed image of a film on a postamp siz
by theplant
and express my opinion that this will suck, the more I go deep into the lower side of the human psyche, because YOU CAN'T JUDGE A MOVIE BY SEEING SOMETHING ON YOUTUBE MORON
-
its like with i.basterds for girls and THE EXPENDABLES FOR MEN same thing here!:)
-
big mistake releasing those 10 clips, Music sounds lame as well.
-
sam worthington is about to break through
-
there are different theories of time travel. the one that the terminator series has gone with is 'you can't change the past' this is shown by the fact that john conner sends a solider back in time in the first movie, that solider becomes his father. the actions that we undertaken in the past we already factored into the future. the time travel both creates the terminators and their destrustion. you can't stop judgement day. in the same way, the humans have to win, in the third movie it was revealed that you can juggle the details about, but that which is fated to happen will happen. no matter what anyone did, the machines were always going to rise up, and they were always going to be destroyed.
-
'Some people on this thread actually think McG will deliver a better film than James Cameron.'
That's not what it's about Kwisa.
Look, we've all seen T1 and T2 a bunch of times already. I for one am far more excited to see a NEW film. A new TERMINATOR film, rather than an old one.
Don't we all want to see new shit rather than live in the past?
People here are hating on Bale vs. Arnie... without having seen it... out of some misguided loyalty to a film they saw 10 years ago... maybe i'm talking nonsense, maybe you know what I'm getting at... I mean... fuuuuuuck.
-
if only you will join me. I am fully prepared to sacrifice myself in order to wipe your miserable ass out of existence! No, you pathetic muppet, T2 was hardcore because it had a realistic nuclear devastation scene that showed in graphic and very unsentimental detail the consequences of a nuclear attack, because it had sarah connor knee capping motherfuckers, T-1000 dispatching people with knives and needles in grisly fashion, dozens of F-bombs, arnold shooting out people's knee caps and brutally smacking their heads off walls, peeling off his arm with a switch blade, not to mention it had a very dark, adult and apocalyptic tone, some terminator humour accepted (all of which is what determines rating more than gore) - all unlike this latest kiddy-oriented SHITBOMB from McGimpy.A pity this is all fantasy, because someone should send an assassin back through time to ensure YOU never existed. But since you were birthed from the belly of Satan himself it probably wouldn't make a fucking difference anyway!!
-
apparently lasts for 47 seconds. whoopie-doo. We all know the true professional Arnie would kill that sloppy fake Bale anyway!!
-
This turd above me's illustrating my point better than I ever could... I mean... fuuuuuuck.
-
will be the only ones to come out of this farce with their dignity intact. I do not blame Mr. Hurlburt for the crappy over-lit TV sci-fi movie of the week look, and I am sure he endeavoured to try to do a most professional job with the lighting. A pity his efforts were not appreciated by that shrieking prima donna Bale, who only wears the tattered counterfeit cloak of a 'professional'. Mr. Hurlburt, you have my utmost respect, sir! You are a TRUE PROFESSIONAL.

Try and be creative people.

I really can't believe I'm watching people that claim to love fi
by headgeek
bashing T2. T2 isn't hard? Right - Arnold shooting numerous cops, knife arm through milk into head, all manners of disturbing imagery. T2 is a goddamn masterpiece. The acting, the storytelling, the action, the special effects, everything is fucking perfect. Watch TERMINATOR SALVATION and see if you can say the same afterwards. I hope so, but I'm not expecting a movie half as great.
-
Big Daddy robot in T2 "I know why you cwy but thus us sumthin I can never duh", was neutered, and they made a buffon out of him with the thumb up and the neutering "I swear I will not kill anyone" sod that, I LOVE A TERMINATOR THAT KILLS not some kind of nanny robot pampering little John who misses his father. It's all wrong, wrong wrong. Plus they didn't gave as much cool lines to the T-1000 as Ahunuld had in the first. The first is ultra dark, the second crap on the first darkness, it's like the difference between Coke and Coke Light.
-
A serial killer who is now a Terminator. And Terminator that KILLS. Back on track.
-
and 3 was pretty awful
i don't think i'll be paying to see this. -
extremely LOL worthy cheesy as fuck line
-
don't know where the fuck this T2 revisionism is coming from. Its a fucking masterpiece and now every other TBer is calling it PG13 shit! Either these fucknuts are all McGimp plants or I'm losing touch with the TB crowd.
as for this trailer - it actually made the film look alright in my opinion. -
with all the trailers and tv spots i was starting to get annoyed with the constant advertising of this movie. This 4 min clip got me pumped up for it again..and im sorry it has Christian Bale in it and a terminator who is out to kill again. There is no way in hell this could be worse than Terminator 3. Stop whinning!
-
I don't think T2 is a masterpiece and an inferior film to T1 but to say it's tame is a fucking joke. To say Terminator doesn't kill anyone in T2...ummm what about robert patrick killing pretty much every mother fucking human he encounters.
-
T2 is a cool action movie, but that's all. It's highly overrated, much like Aliens compared to Alien. Terminator 1 is gritty, tightly plotted, and ends on a wonderfully dark note. Kyle is dead, Sarah is pregnant with Jesus Christ, and the apocolypse is coming. T2 ends with them fixing everything and driving off. Fuck that.
-
jesus..think of other shit. The best fucking science fiction movies out there NEVER had a "prophecy" of some sort. It fucking retarded
-
Looks like stuff gets blown up real good.
One problem with today's action films is that, while the stunts and effects are top notch, they have people doing things that are so unbelievable that it's really hard to get involved in the action. You just kind of watch and say, "that was cool", but never feel the emotional connection with the characters. People jump, fall, crash, fly, get shot, and just generally do things that are so beyond realistic it's more like watching a video game. -
its a proper movie
-
Chuck Norris tried the same damn thing by floating the idea his Way of the Dragon character lived and was inspired to acts of heroism by dead Bruce Lee.
By T2 Arnie had started rehabilitating his roles and reinventing himself as an action hero. He did not want to be a bad assed killer robot.
Which is shitty and something Patrick Kilpatrick would never do. -
But it has some seriously unlikable characters. The two Connors are complete assholes. The T-800 is an emotionless cypher, as always. The T-1000 is the villain, so he's a dick by default. Who's that leave? The psychiatrist is a total jerk. Ah, the Cyberdyne guy, Miles Dyson: he's the one cool, relatable character in the movie that one could imagine enjoying spending some time with. So while the photography is amazing, the effects, sound, direction, and plot are extremely well done, the fact that you have to spend two hours rooting for assholes sort of takes some of the shine of the thing for me.
-
me personally t2 was fucking amazing and i hold it up there as a classic so its way to fucking early to be comparing or even thinking t4 will be as good or better, basically if its half the film of t2 then yeah ill be happy and maybe we will forget the shite 3rd one was!!!
-
So I have been coming to this site since 2000 and this my first, ever, posting. Hello :) Anywho...we all do know the MPAA is lame. Their basis on ratings is uneven. Over the past couple years, though, movies that were supposed to be R went to PG13 without being edited. A couple noticeable examples are Transformers and The Dark Knight. At the same time, this movie features robots as enemies. So as far as R goes I am not worried. I cannot recall if T3 was R but if it was I don't see how really. In the 80s things were way different. Now there most likely will not be a lot of blood but i don't care about this with this type of a movie. They're robots (excluding the humans being killed) and as previously stated R seems to be becoming the new PG13. I am more interested in seeing how McG will do. I am enjoying the context and look of the movie, I just want to see if he can deliver more. Though I am a firm believer that the Terminator movies have never had 'great' character development so I would not be dissapointed if this one does not. We do know enough of John Connor. I am more interested in the side characters. Sorry for the long posting. It's my first.
-
even tho it looks good, trailers never prove how good a film will or wont be, to many movies these days have amazing fucking trailers but are fucking horse crap.
-
for the first time back in '91 was that James Cameron was a perfectionist, and had the ability to back it up. When Titanic became a cinematic force of nature six years later, it didn't surprise me at all. As I told a friend re.Cameron back in '91 after we saw T2: "He won't be satisfied until he's made an unqualified masterpiece". If it wasn't Titanic, it *will* be Avatar.I can't say my faith in Terminator Salvation is equally unshakable, but thus far IMO all signs point to good if not great.
-
never...and its getting iffy reviews anyways...seems like it will be a shiny blockbuster and nothing more
-
Cameron talks Worthington T4 Avatar
http://tinyurl.com/otye n5
Sigourney Weaver on Avatar.
http://tinyurl.com/pehq 68 -
arnold had like 10 lines in T1...T1 and T2 go together like Godfather 1 and 2 as far as im concerned. there is nothing wrong with John trying to give a robot humanity. had T3 progressed the story, rather than being a carbon copy of T2 (what's that telling you if T2 supposedly sucks?) it might have had a chance to be good. T4 will NEVER be looked upon as anything but a shadow compared to Cameron's films
-
so with that mind of thinking, why makes films? if only to watch new films? your argument doesnt make sense. if the film is good, i watch it repeatedly, and it will stand the test of time..so goes with Godfather, Terminator, Ghostbusters, Indiana Jones, Star Wars....you are saying "just watch the newest installment, disregard everything else" shit, come to my house and you can have my dvd collection, itll be out on the front lawn...i only watch new shit now...thanks
-
just kidding
-
Is one of those movies that left me an impression when i was a kid.
Same thing with Aliens, Predator... -
It was LIMP. Yeah, there were some good efx FOR THE TIME, and I enjoyed the Nuke and Future War parts (all fucking 30 seconds of it), but the rest of it? AWFUL. Awful, watered down bullshit with a whiny father complex emo teen wah fest. It sucked. Face it. At the very least it is WAY overrated, and nowhere near this "masterpiece" you (and many others) have fooled yourselves into thinking it is.
This T:S thing, on the other hand, actually looks cool, and actually seems to deliver on the promise that the first (and best) film laid out. Namely: FUTURE! FUCKING! WAR! Not some bullshit needless digression about mommies and daddies and poor wickle whiny teenagers running around a Hollywood backlot, but FUTURE! FUCKING! WAR!
Oh, and please, there is NOTHING hardcore about anything in T2. Its not gorey, theres no sex or nudity. Sure they curse (whatever) and its violent, but even the violence is kinda boring and limp. Yeah tons of people get shot, but its not "hardcore" blood splattered mayhem, its straight up Pg-13 level. Watching cops fall over in the dark through a blue tint? Please, dude, thats tv violence. Fuckin' the Joker puncturing a dudes eye with a pencil was WAY more intense and fucked up then ANYTHING in T2. Fuckin' the BSG redux is way more hardcore than T2, and thats a goddamn tv show! Seriously. Cmon, look, I can understand liking T2, clearly I don't, and I exagerrate that for effect, but there is NOTHING hardcore about T2. Its soft. Its a cinematic chubby. Of course, this T:S thing may turn out to be a limp p.o.s too, but what I'm seeing looks badass and I'm definitely intrigued about the possibilities. I hope that it finally delivers on the promise that the first (and best) one laid out. -
that claim to like sci-fi are going so out of their way to bash T2 and praise T4. Its because they have an agenda. Its either becos they desperatly need any movie with Bale in it to be amazing, or they have some deep rooted personal issues with Cameron. And so it appears to be their fondest desire for it to be true that T4 is incredible. Whats really funny though is that if you ask any of them to clarify which of McG's films they love that made them such a fan, you get no answer (and last time i looked its the script and director that matters..) And whats also really funny is how much they try to prove how unhard T2 is, but its ok for T4 to be pg from the the get go, depict a future post nuclear world that does nt look anywhere as bleak or fucked up as what we saw in T1 and T2. And appears to have a little kid sidekick ala "i know gymnastics" in the lost world. So how T4 is any different to T2 then useing their logic, i have no idea...
-
for this movie....
-
...whiney bitch Bale.
-
not being "hardcore" not not equal being "sucky" T2 is not T3...T4 is not T2. T2 is a quality film. story was good and even had time for a moral in the center of its special effects gala. otherwise it wouldve been an FX demo reel. you probably think ALIENS sucks too. theres plenty of copies of AVP for ya at the store.
-
What does anyone remember about Dark Knight? The Joker/Ledger's performance.
Christian Bale is running out of steam. His assault against his family and then his maniacal rant on set only served to solidify the perception that he really is a moody, whiny, bitch. And people who go to watch movies don't go to see moody, whiny, bitches. -
Mark my words. Bale does not have the onscreen presence and charisma to carry this film and this is a big film and his shoulders are just too small.
-
Who the hell wants to see another film of Christian Bale brooding for 90+ minutes. This guy has three sides, psycho, brooder and snot nosed prick. Virtually every role he's been in, he alternates between these three personalities which are already closely related anyway.
-
Sorry to disappoint you, but I LOVE ALIENS. Its one of my favorite movies of all times.
As for the "hardcore" argument -- this is in relation to people bitching about T:S being PG-13, when clearly T2, with very few exceptions, was indistinguishable from a PG-13 movie. Please feel free to read the posts, and understand them and their context, BEFORE retorting. Thanks! -
Real men love Terminator 2, Robocop, Aliens and Predator.
-
My agenda: to see movies that don't suck.
-
If you are judging this movie based solely on the rating you are a fucking idiot. If you are trying to say T2 was "hard core R" and this movie should be like that you are not only stupid you are delusional. I agree with whoever up there said T2 was fucking limp as an "R" rated movie goes. The ratings are different now, they can make a harder PG-13 than T2 ever was. Shoot them in the knees, baby john furlong, that movie was fucking pandering to a younger "wider" audience. Believe it or not younglings we felt the same way about T2 people feel now about Star Trek. Watered down and made to appeal to a wide audience. T1 was MUCH more violent, MUCH darker, and much closer to what so many of you cry baby pussies claim you want to see so please for the love of god quit using terms like "hard core" and "T2" in the same post. Just don't belong together. T2 was not a bad movie at all, don't get me wrong, but it was not the HARD CORE, SCI-FI thrill ride T1 was so quit crying about this film until you actually see it. I'm pretty sure they can make a good, exciting, violent movie at a PG-13 rating if they can add gore and violence to fucking Heroes on regular TV now. (which also would not have "flown" back in the day so quit touting the R rating already) Fuqs...
-
I love Robocop, Aliens, and Predator. I also love T1. Its okay to admit T2 sucked. Really, its okay. The marketing gods won't hate you. Actually, they probably hate you for not liking T:S (especially without even having seen the movie). REPENT! REPENT AT THE ALTAR OF THEE CONSUMER!!!
-
All these guys are required because Bale cannot carry a big action movie like this on his own. He just lacks that special super star quality. Bale will never be up there with the mega stars no matter how seriously he takes his craft. Why so serious Bale?
-
regardless of how you percieve violence now...T2 is still R and will remain R...the only way for it to be changed is for Cameron to resubmit it to the MPAA and i dont see that happening..my point is that since 1991 times have changed and our tolerance for and what passes for R and PG13 and NC17 is something out of our control. you were bitching that T2 blew because it wasnt hardcore enough. regardless, T2 will stand the test of time because it was good..otherwise we would be talking about the abyss (which is good) and willow rather than T2. T4 will only be remembered as being better than T3. end of line.
-
But you don't see Daniel Day-Lewis running around dressed up like a bat or fighting killer robots.
-
Personally I rate Terminator 1 as one of the best Sci Fi / Thriller films ever. T2 was a great action film but I preferred the gritty tense atmosphere of the 1st. T3 was just a cheese fest for the most part and I hated everything about the T-X....I enjoyed the ending though! It fell into place nicely.
From what I've seen so far Salvation looks fantastic but I wish hollywood would stop casting these model types who look nothing like they are fighting a post apocolyptic war. Did the film really need Moon Bloodgood, I would've preffered a scabby toothless Helena Bonham Carter for her role, that would've been awesome. What's with the actress who plays Kate Connor???? She looks about 22 and Bale looks about 40. They were supposed to have been in school together FFS!!! -

Future in Termi Castration looks like a nice place to live..
by turdontherun
It is a nuclear future depicted through the filter of teen tv shows. It is no coincidence that McGimpy produced the OC and sundry other TV tripe. This is not the dystopian hell hole Cameron depicted or described in T1 and 2. fuck, the resistance appears to have fully stocked military bases and loads of equipment, the skies are nice and sunny, everybody looks like something out of a beer commercial. where are the holocaust allusions of T1? This sack of shit does not deliver the future war, so all points in its favour because it supposedly delivers on that are moot (and if you think the point of Terminator was ever to see the future war, then you are have no idea what the first 2 movies were actually about)
-
The movie is about a T-800 and T-1000 sent back to around 1991 to look for John Connor.
Would it be rated R today, or a hard PG13?
What difference does it make?
T4 is about the FUTURE WAR where robots and soldiers are destroying each other. In my opinion, THAT'S R!...or at least it should be.
-
...arguing with my step-son. It's a lot more trouble than it's worth, he'll never understand what you're getting at, he only sees things his way, it's just one big, pointless headache.
Oh, and they're both 13 years old. -
Bear in mind Salvation is set in 2018. The future war we saw in T1 and T2 is set years later when Kyle is a grown man. It's perfectly feasible that the world would look this much worse by the time we get to the period your talking about. Chill dude - we've got another 2 films after this!
-
X Men 3, Terminator 3 or Alien Vs Predator????
-
There is no point going over why for the umpteenth time. Obviously the blind cannot be made to see. Also, T1 - and T1 is a great movie - is NOT full of hardcore violence or a gorefest. Never was. Some of you need to watch it again, your memories are playing tricks on you. T1 and T2 are pretty much on the level violence wise and in terms of what graphic stuff was shown. What T1 and 2 were decidely not, though, is kiddie cash-grab studio slop like 'Terminator Castration: McG's Payday'. But have fun convincing yourself that this pile of shit is fit to lick Robodaddy's sack or Cameron's beard. Terminator ended with T2 - the rest is some horrible monstrosity cooked up in a producer's office while he's snorting coke off the ass crack of a vietnamese sex slave. Terminator in name only.
-
"and if you think the point of Terminator was ever to see the future war, then you are have no idea what the first 2 movies were actually about."
THANK YOU. Well said. It was all prologue. It set up the context of the actual story Cameron was trying to tell. I think they're just going into that part of the story now because (A) how many times will we pay to see John or Sarah Connor running for their lives from future-sent cyborgs? (it didn't even last more than a season and a half on TV.) And (B) it's a sensible direction to move the characters toward, now that the effects can be pulled off effectively, and besides, let's face it, Re-boots and prequels are kind of all the rage for old sf/fantasy properties these days. Although, in this case, it's a rare prequel/sequel due to the time travel aspect.
Anyway, the "future war" thing is fine as an attraction for this new part of the franchise, but the original stories, as you said, were not truly about them in the first place. -
yeah im done with Laserpants professionally..i've seen some fucked up things in PG13 films so i really couldnt care less. If DRAG ME TO HELL is PG13 then why not T4?? if im to believe all the clips ive seen for T4, the machines aren't killing the human, but capturing them to "learn from them" and "replicate their skin"
-

So now I've seen all the best scenes of Terminator Salvation...
by hamster factor
at least that's the impression I'm left with after watching that. I'm still interested... but it worries me when a studio starts showing so much of the money shots
-
...if produced and released today. If he were directing T4, it would be R-rated as well. It's simply the way he approached the material.
-
so this can be PG13..so when this film does bomb, we're gonna hafta hear from the whiny bitches that it wasnt hardcore enough and the PG13 was the reason..which would be a fallacy. if anything the PG13 will sell more tickets
-
he has more backbone and leverage
-
"Oh shit 2001 was rated G! I must stop liking it now. Only R rated movies can be edgy!...LOTR could have only been good with an R rating I tell you!...If only there were nipples included Terminator Salvation would be a masterpiece!" etc etc etc
-
they did show alot in that four minutes???thought the rule of thumb was never show to much???
-
May 10, 2009 9:19:17 PM CDT
James Cameron could make T4 R if i wanted to because..
by hamster factor
He made the highest grossing movie of all time, and he's King of the World. No one would fuck with Jim cameron. On the other hand, Abyss was PG13 - I fucking love Abyss. McG's Terminator needs an R rating to be a good flick, end of story.
-
end of story.
-
What are you talking about 'so I've seen the best scenes now so I wont be wasting my money'???? I've read this numerous times on here now. Stop talking like spoilt children, who said these are the best scenes? I'd bet my bottom dollar they aren't the best scenes and this movie will rock.
-
all that provies is there is lots of CGI SFX in thi film and that they are well done.

your time arguing with laserpants, he must be literally 12 years old, or i hope to god he is, becos if he is an adult..thats just scary. And he is a world class idiot. He can not understand the difference between fact and his opinion. In another talkback his whole proof for Cameron being a bad director was Pirahana 2, even though the simple fact is that Cameron never actually made it. Thus, regardless of your personal tastes/opinions, that simply is nt fact. But i thought his head was going to explode trying to comprehend that. It was fucking hilarious, he really did nt know that, and just carried on saying the same dumb shit. It really is like arguing with a child...or a severally mentally challenged adult
-
This is not your father's Terminator!!! It's not even your older bro's Terminator!!! Forget everything you know, esp. T2 and T3 and the fucking tv series!!!!
Bale arrives to offer Salvation hence the title!! Non-Baleiving amateurs will be Left Behind. Professionals will be rewarded. I report, you decide!! -
Terminator, Aliens and Titanic. That's just my opinion, but one that is correct.
-
no actor can make a movie good by themselves (only make it watchable), you will only confuse those on here that think Bale's awsomeness alone can do the job. As i have said, the last time i checked its all about the script and director. There are numerous examples of great performances by good actors in sub par films...
-
cmon, Paxton is hilarious, the actions really good, Arnie's iconic, and do i need to remind you of the gift of Jamie Lee in underwear?
-
in cheek tone wise, and well...its mid east terrorist...fuck em...
-
not meant to be taken seriously.
-
true lies was a fucking good entertaining action film and damn the whole jamie pooldance next to the bed was an highlight!!!!
-
meant poledance sorry lol
-
It's a cartoon, everyone was a silly caricature. Add Tom Arnold to top off the retard cake. It doesn't even hold up as a simple action movie because it has hardly any action. And the humor is misogynistic and, well, not funny. That's one man's opinion, heed it well.
-
http://www.youtube.com/w a tch?v= KAl92UYTVPs take spaces out of course. Thanks, McPG! I can see the music video now...T-800s as backup dancers and obligatory footage behind them of Bale screaming
-
You are pussies. Let's go NC-17. I wish they would stamp on R on it, so you little weasels can stop crying. hahahahahaa
-
which still means its better than 90% of everything out there. And Cameron actually made Tom Arnold funny, which proves beyond all reasonable doubt that he's a true genius!BSB, are you serious? True Lies has hardly any action? Last 40 mins of that film was some of the best action since well...T2. absolutely jaw-dropping stuff at the time and still being ripped off today to lesser effect in stuff like MI3, Die Hard 4, and the Matrix (helicopter rescue) True Lies is the last of the great old-school action flicks. Bring on a sequel, with Arnold and Jamie Lee Curtis as married spies!!Also, Bill Paxton is hilarious in that movie. it might be sexist - its also the truth!!
-
But even I can acknowledge that it's a terrible, terrible movie (take your pick as to whatever cut). Great action and underwater sequences -- awful plot and performances.
-
Mainly bc McG has sounded like a complete fucktard lately when talking about the original endings and his plans for T5. This isn't a filmmaker, its a 12 year old.
-
Trash lights, trash lights, professionally, trash lights, professionally. Fucking hilarious, never gets old.
-
"he must be literally 12 years old, or i hope to god he is, BECOS if he is an adult..thats just scary. And he is a world class IDIOT" Was that intentional?
-
Theatrical release is garbage, The extended cut is the perfect terminator film. Now ALL HAIL BALE!
-
that he's going to travel back in time and kill sarah conner chronicles to keep T4 from being considered. You see he can time travel like peter and hiro. They all hang out on the weekends and read over hawking books and discuss the theories and advancements made towards time travel. Not knowing fully however that unless they save the cheerleader hawking would never get ALS and if he doesnt get ALS he will never get the chance to laze around and write a book b/c he will be banging the cheerleader and no one will know how to time travel. On the other hand if he doesnt save the cheerleader hawking will be getting laid so much the cheerleader will get killed from the pounding that steven would give her and she would die and then hawking would invent a time machine to travel to the past to save the cheerleader from the afopr mentioned hawking cock of doom...see steve has a huge dong....I should write for heroes this is awesome. And then bale turned into a T-711 and sold smokes and road beers to ppl on friday nights and kill everyone else during the day as the terminator until he forgot to take of his 7-11 smock and got fired. Then he got so depressed that he got fired that he time traveled back to feudel japan and unleashed a virus that killed humanity...except for the cheerleader...and sylar...and summer from the scc only cuz shes hot and has iddy biddies...
-
too much guys? be honest...
-
After re-watching T2's opening with those Aerial HK's, I still can't believe how REAL they look in comparison thanks to the miniatures. Salvation has awesome CGI, but it is just that: CGI. Those things aren't NEARLY as frightening.
-
Why do movies have to contain this kind of cheese? Is that the only way to show off a "strong" female role? She beats up a bunch of male attackers? Give me a fucking break! This scene was executed way better in Alien 3. Ripley didn't unbelievably kick the in-mate's asses. Dillon came to her rescue. She still got to be a tough bitch by punching one of the dude's out. C'mon McG! For fuck's sake.
-
And True Lies IS a huge piece of shit. But what the hell is with all these retroactive memories of Camerons Terminator and Aliens films being nothing but ultra gore and "fuck fuck fuckity fuck"? Aliens, Terminator and T2 were definitely R-rated in the violence and vulgar language categories, but the violence and the vulgarity never really stood out. Yeah, in a war it's likely that some people are gonna cuss and die. But Camerons movies never relied on cursing the way thaty a Tarantino movie might, and they never relied on gore. Terminator, T2, and Aliens are tame R-rated movies by today's standard because they didn't use R-rated material as a GIMMICK. You want gore, you can watch Saw or something. James Cameron's movies were always moreSTORY and CHARACTER oriented. And that's why True Lies was shit. The action was good, sure. But the story sucked ass. And as mentioned before, everybody was a goddamn characature. So basically the movie was just terrorists getting shot and blown up, and Bill Paxton pissing his pants. Funny? Yeah. Great action? I suppose. But as much as I hate on James Cameron, I hate a lot of his stuff because he raises the bar. I absolutely LOATHE The Abyss, but at least with that movie Ican respect what James Cameron was trying to do, and respect him more for it. I consider The Abyss to be a noble failure. But True Lies was just fucking Looney Tunes. Fuck that movie. James Cameron is better than that shit. Anyway, like I was saying, Aliens was waterered down. Most of the violence either occurred off-screen, or was shot in a PG-13 way. Out of all the marines, we only actually SEE about 2 of them actually DIE on screen. And hell, with as many as 156 Aliens being killed and about 100,000 bullets flying through the air, we only get to see about a dozen Aliens dying. Sure, the characters say "fuck" and "shit", but only infrequently. Because MOST people aren't constantly walking around saying "fuck" and "shit". His characters curse infrequently and in-context, so you don't even really take notice that they're cursing. And for anyone who says, "it's a WAR movie, it destroys my suspension of disbelief when characters don't say 'fuck'", then what about The Abyss? Yeah, another James Cameron movie. Rated PG-13. With characters dying and facing death, and seeing loved ones die, while not cursing as if they came from Pulp Fiction. I absolutely hate that movie. But did I hate it because the characters didn't say "fuck" and "shit" enough? Of course not. That would be fucking stupid. And just as James Cameron's movies never avoided gore and cursing to sell toys, he never revelled in that shit either. When people get shot, he frequently pulls the camera away whereas lesser directors would try to get the most out of splattered brains. Even the cursing in Cameron's movies was usally infrequent and didn't really stand out, because James Cameron is NOT someone who relies on "hardcore content" to make his films have impact. And yes, if Cameron were to remake Terminator, T2, or Aliens today, I am sure he could make them PG-13 without losing much if any impact. And for T4, the PG-13 rating means absolutely nothing. I suspect that it will be shit, but chances are that the rating will have NOTHING to do with it being shit. If it is shit, I highly suspect that it will be because of bad acting, bad directing, poor dialogue, a stupid plot, and McG's failure to understand the themes of the previous movies. But the RATING? Seriously, I'd be hard pressed to find a more stupid thing to complain about. Cameron's movies were never really gory anyway, didn't have excessive nudity (if ANY nudity), and even the profanity was often relatively mild. I don't see James Cameron as ever having had to rely on that kind of shit. He was a FAR more talented director than that, and this is coming from someone who doesn't even like most of his movies.
-
Oh yeah, cause he's not a very good actor. I almost forgot.
-
is correct on all counts
-
Of course I said that about the new Trek movie and was majorly let down. I might want to lower my hopes for summer movies.
-
shorthand, and dont spellcheck. For me this is talkback dude, not academic essays. Truthfully I just dont have the time....
-
was misogynistic? When?
And did it ever occur to you Bastardson, that maybe Batman was doing the Bale voice? -
But suffice it to say I think as a trek fan it was a big let down. See the Trek thread to see why. There's a long list of problems.
-
work for you then it didnt. But i m not sure how you can accuse it of having hardly any action though. For me personally, its the best Bond movie that isnt a Bond movie...if that makes sense. And as I pointed out, its very clearly not meant to be taken seriously, in fact i thought it gets the tounge in cheek tone of the old Connery Bonds down perfectly imho. Also agree with turd...its been really copied, MI3, Mr and mrs smith etc..
-
..purely accidental...
-
next movie the skin has Mr. Fantastic type powers
-
still rocks, still think it's going to be a great film.
-
Eh, I was being a dick for pointing out such a minute thing anyways. It's the constant T4 defense, T2 bashing, and constant annoying use of Bale jokes that got to me. Seriously, does it register in your fucking brains that jokes RUN their course? Or do you still think it's a laugh riot when Weird Al Yankovich covers a rap song or some shit? Seriously, get a new joke to run into the ground you dunces, christ.
-
1. pg13= not enough violence
2. the story line is too predictable
3. young kyle reese sounds like a pussy
4. no arnold until the very end
5. saw this shit in the two matrix sequels already -

Devin Feraci just wrote a brilliant article on summer fare
by industrykiller!
And I dare anyone here to argue with his point without taking a personal shot at him. I'm not someone who agree with everything he says, but this article nails why people like myself just can't stand these ridiculously fucking stupid action dreck that so many of you advocate "shutting your brain off" for.
-
I predict that line will crop up as a lil' joke in a possible forthcoming film(s).
-
May 11, 2009 12:25:05 AM CDT
And stop harping ont he rating, its a red herring argument
by industrykiller!
Should the film be rated R? Yes of course, it's impossible to reach the full potential of the story given that rating. Is it impossible to make a very good film PG-13, of course. And the people saying that the first two Terminators aren't that hard an R are more or less right. It's not the rating that makes the film in this case. It's the story, the script, and the directing, and I have no faith in any of those things. If you can't see how unnecessary this whole out of left field Marcus storyline is, and how its nothing more than a Macguffin for story writers who couldnt make a straight up robot war film without cheap plot devices, then I pity you because it's stupid obvious. Moreover it's McG, and the fact that the guy is advocating going BACK to telling present day robot invasion stories after this film should clue you in on what a complete fucking hack the dude is. I'm sure some of the imagery should be neat, but it's the characters that have made this franchise classic, and the unshakably solid storytelling of the first two films, and neither one of those things is present here.
-
Dude, you're a fucking idiot. yelling at your family is considered assault in England. and he's one of the best actors on the planet. typical aicn cunt you are.
-
What? are you a fucking idiot? The dude from American Psycho, the machinist, the prestige, rescue dawn, empire of the sun is not a very good actor? Fucking hell people are just getting ridiculous now.
-
dancing with the stars?
-
all the stupid comments, shit like Bale isn't a very good actor(wtf?) T2 is a shit movie, Cameron can't direct. Just realize as humans, you are a joke and should kill yourselves.
-
There'd be no Bale in Batman. That movie, whether you love it or hate it, showed how bad-ass Bale could be. American accent and all (and yes, we are the ones with the accents, cunts.)
-

Fact: 95% of people who don't like T2 enjoy sucking dick
by most excellent ninja
it's true. You're all cocksuckers.
-
they're fucking idiots, Bale goes nuts on a shitty cinematographer(Into the blue, drumline, swing vote, we are marshall) and suddenly he's a shitty actor. What a bunch of fucking idiots on this thread. Ever since dickblood joined, people have gotten dumber.
-
dont worry, i know exactly how you feel. I also get sick of of dealing woth morons like laserpants who so dearly wish their fantasiesd were reality. I dont get it either. If someone doesnt like T2, then cool for you, we all have our personal tastes and all art is subjective anyway. But its really funny when you see these hard core supporters for T4 all of a sudden, and then when you ask them what movies of McG's they are fans of...nothing but silence. I have yet to get an answer. It seems that many are desperate for this movie to be good just because Bale is in it, or because they have some serious issue with Cameron. So they go out of their way to find things to bash T2 with ,even though all these same things seem to be applicable to T4 too. Mc G has clearly lied about them shooting for an R rating given how unbleak, and fucked up the future looks compared to T1 and T2. And there appears to be a kid sidekick to boot (which is the most funny of all given the constant robodaddy accusations from guys like theplant) So by their logic, this is also watered down and pussified. However try to point this out useing logic and reason and they just get confused...
-
know some of these people actually think McG is weay better and more talented. Which is the only possible explanation, becvause i cant believe they are all delusinal enough to believe that a great actor can make a movie good all by themselves. I was always u der the strange impression you needed a good script and a talented director....
-
what are your favourite movies of his? How has he earned his stripes so to speak in the sci-fi action genre?
-
I like Bale (despite his legion of cackling morons who think a mere reference of his name is fucking hilarious), Worthington, and I like the ideas in the script. I just don't know if McG pulled it off, and since I've seen about half of the fucking movie already, I'd guess no. Seriously...what...the...fuck. Keep some stuff behind the curtains idiots. Ugh. When does Transformers 2 come out again?
-
I don't think he is the best Batman, I don't think he gives the character enough inner life. Bruce Wayne is a man who has turned himself into a superhuman to be sure, but he's also a broken man who somewhere deep down is still a child waiting for his parents. For whatever reason Bales vibe just doesn't work for this. BUT, he's been great in EVERYTHING else. The confession scene in AMerican Psycho is some of the best acting Ive ever seen and he should have been Oscar nominated for Rescue Dawn.
-
Simply comes from Batman popularity, and not liking Batman to be the perpetual outsider who doesn't follow trends. That's all. "Oh, actually, Bale sucks. Batman was shit. I hate that you all like it. Fuck you!"
-
People refuse to acknowledge Bale in the new Terminator? Just read all of the articles and reviews. It's about Marcus, Anton, Arnold's cameo, and McG. Laughable, really. Bale's performance was supposedly "phoned in," even though he was so absorbed in his role, it caused an emotional outbreak on set. I hardly think Bale is the worst part of this movie.
-
Sadly, The best thing McGinty has ever directed is the music video to Smash Mouth's "All Star". Bale's presence is the only thing that gives me hope for T4.
-
I remember a lot more than just the Joker in Dark Knight. Aaron Eckhart, Bale, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine were all amazing in that film. Not to mention the action and plot. Sorry, but that is just an all around damn fine movie... a good villain does not necessarily mean a good movie. It requires other elements.
-
Bale and Worthington (2 bullshit free actors if there ever were) are the only two things I find interesting about T4.
-
attacking or insulting anyone that wants to see T4 or that thinks it will be good. I sincerely hope it entertains you and that its the terminator movie you want. I had no interest in it initially, but as time went on i became interested baded on what i was hearing and the initial trailers. However, due to McGs retarded ideas for a sequal, those reviews and that horrible ending, and the clips, i now know this is not a terminator movie i have any interest in. The first two movies are sacred to me, grew up on them and since learning much more about film (script, directing etc) i have only come to appreciate them more. This movie does not appear to deliver on the promise of the first 2 movies as I have already outlined. So before anyone attacks me as a hater..ok? Im just sick of the desperate need for Bale zealots, and apparant McG fans to bash the shit out of Cameron and the first 2 movies. Which is even more laughable since this movie borrows most of its ideas, chartacters, designs etc from said movies...
-
Two fat and fucking annoying chest-bumping kids.Fuck'em.The opening sequence in T2 is way better than ANYTHING I've seen so far of T4.
-
from some of the comment shere. Apparantly T4 just needs Bale, then its already a classic. Gouing to be the biggest hit of the year ala T2 IN 1991, going to be widely considered a classic of the genre and an example of a good sequal by critics, film magazines, the public at large etc, is going to become one of the films listed as pushing fx forweard ..just cause Bale is in it
-
sequence of T2 dude, and especially about laserpants...
-
If T4 is a better version of Transformers, I will probably be satisfied with it. However, it will never come close to the masterpiece that is T2. I mean, come on McGinty, couldn't there have been one blue-lit nighttime action sequence.
-
I don't think people are upset due to the pg-13 rating nor do i think the problem is with bale. We saw pg-13 push its limits with the dark knight and it was an unbelievable film. The issue at hand is the overall storyline and lack of character development. From what i've heard and unfortunately seen through several clips posted, i can only assume that the reviewers and the overall buzz are correct. The reason there has been such a backlash is because we as fans have already been arse fucked by t3 being an incredibly lousy movie. We had hoped that any mistakes that were made would be inevitably be fixed by T4. Fuck they've had ages to write up a great screenplay, not just a good one or mediocre. Instead we get recycled dialogue, lack of substance in story, a weak ending and happy meals and kid toys. Am i upset? Yes. Am I hoping i'm 150% wrong. Yes.
-
think T2 sucked. Wow
-
only reason McG is blurting out plot points is cause he's looking for people to back him up. No good director would ever give away sequel plot points without the prior movie even being released yet. that's just logical.
-
Some of you have been so brainwashed by the accesible for everyone-cgi heavy summer tentpoles of late that they forget what real movies used to be like. Some of you like T3 better, some of you might like T4 better. But please dont try and denigrate T1/T2 to try and prove your point because it just makes you look stupid.
-
I agree i think Terminator 4 should have been R but if the script is a piece of shit which i firmly believe - be R, Pg-13, Pg or G it's going to suck donkey balls.
-
I think Bale is at his best in smaller character driven films. He is an excellent, excellent actor but I honestly thought he was quite stale in the dark knight. Some of you think were only allowed to love or hate the guy. Like I said he's awesome but he's not immune from critism.
-
And your right too man, Some movies are shit no matter what rating. What I dont like is executives picking the rating first and then building a movie around the rating. And the type of subject matter should dictate the rating period. Saving Private Ryan would not have made the impact it did if it were rated PG. A movie about the violent destruction of mankind by robots cant really be told without extreme violence.
-
I wouldn't say Terminator is the best Sci-Fi film of all time.
-
on. Geez, you are so right, its like you can only hate or worship Bale. But like you say we can acknowledge how good an actor he is, but he is not beyond criticism or being in a bad movie. And i could not have put it bettet than you did. If you prefer T3/T4 or Cameron's movies just arent to your tastes, then thats all good, just please stop trying to grasp at any straws you can to tear T1 and T2 down because you want to make a point. When T4 gets the same level of respect and success from film fans, magazines, critics, and other filmakers...then we can fuckin talk...
-
less argument, the only thing that matters at the end of the day if the movie's quality..or lack thereof...
-
Let's not compare Dark Knight which was directed by Chris Nolan... to T4 by McG. It's like comparing filet mignon to hamburger helper.
-
Jim Cameron will be here in December to make all the other blockbusters of the past 10 years look totally retarded. Then we can all have fun mocking LaserPants and Dickblood for weeks on end. Bliss.
-
Kudos for the T2 love. Anybody that says T2 is bad filmmaking just really isn't firing on all cylinders.
-
You know they think their movie stinks when we're getting four trailers and 10 clips! Doesn't make me want to see this it just tells me that they have no faith in their movie.
-
Had a flick through the making of book in store the other day and it looks dreadful. Plus the lack of reviews is very telling.
-
Ye of little faith. This will swat cock on the forehead of the rubbish pile that became T2.
-
needs to be great is have Bale in it *sarcasm mode deactivated* i guess like that other beloved classic captain Corelli's madelin, yeah that movie was hard!or the classic fantasy movie reign if fire, totally blew LOTR away! or that modern actin classic that shat all over die hard...shaft!...ok enough with the hyper sarcasm....You know, Bale was good in all those movies, but those movies all blew and were ultimatly forgettable. Geez i really thought the Bale worship was a joke, but apparantly for some its a real religion type thing.
-
could not have put that any better myself....
-
to explain to me the highlights of his filmography, what makes him a particularly good filmaker?, what distinguishes his movies from any other filmaker? And what made you a fan? Becos as far as I remember he is still at the same level as Bay and Sommers, so unless those guys suddenly became really good sci-fi action directors, then i still require clarification...
-
that's it Motoko bring back the old school aicn without dickblood. Ha it wasn't really old school but it was good.
-
that can actually quantify their opinion. Again, i really dont care if the first 2 terminator movies just simply are nt to your taste, or the same for Cameron's movies. Hell, we all have our personal tastes and art is very subjective. But when someone passes their opinion off as fact, that T2 is bad filmaking, then i will challenge them to explain how. In an objective, logical and reasoned argument....I have yet to see it Kwis...its always just people that have some personal hate for Cameron and are desperate to change the prevailing consensus about his movies by just pulling whatever shit they can out of their ass, without backing it up with anything other than their opinion...
-
You know it's true. Search your feelings.
-
actually i think the bale worship here is sarcastic because of that baleback thread. no doubt many here especially around begins era all agreed he is one of the best actors on the planet but of course it's aicn and there will be someone saying he's shit, hell people have said there will be blood is not a good movie and day lewis isn't a good actor on this site. people are saying T2 isn't a good movie on this thread etc.
-
Agreed with your reminder of the December awesomeness. Avatar will level everything we've seen this decade just like The Matrix did in '99, I think.
I hope to enjoy much of the fine popcorn fare this summer - I'm skipping Wolvie, but I'm absolutely down for Star Trek, T4, Up (I'm down for Up..?), probably Harry Potter, even Transformers, and maybe even GI Joe if the reviews aren't too bad. But it's ALL just getting the balls tickled until December 18th. That's when my eyeballs will be makin' that sweet, sweet IMAX 3D love.... -
YOU DUDE...
-
Another guy who understands... Jim Cameron doesn't know HOW to make a bad movie. He's just incapable of it.
-
I want to know that it works as a good sci-fi action film by itself before i experiance itin that way.
-
so much of what gets said here is bizarre, i really do wonder somtimes if some people that come onto aicn are really film geeks, or especially genre fans....a lot of stuff seems to be about being outrageous or contrarion for the sake of it...
-
I'll be diving head-first into the deep end. I don't think I'll want to see it in 2D, not while it's still in theatres. I'll watch the shit out of the 2D Blu-ray, but I'll catch the 3D greatness as much as I can while the opportunity is there.
-
Marketsaw.com has a youtube clip of Cameron talking about Worthington and Avatar. Nothing special, but being a Cameron geek, I had to mention it.
-
in 3d too.
-
already. I just wish we could get a teaser trailer now, i really want to get some sense of the design asthetic, tone etc...
-
the hate here for t2, a classic in its own right besides the fact its one of the best sequels ever, like i said before im holding out judgement on t4 until i see it but my excitement is reserved for avatar.
-
yet? And if so what did you think?
-
i thought star trek was really good and i know saying that here will probably start a bar fight lol
-
of the T2 bashers never saw it in theatres on release and thus have no appreciation for its impact on all the things that came later and that they think are better. Seeing T2 when it came out...that was rarefied air and I can hardly blame people for having no frame of reference for the experience in most of the time since.
-
ack got almost violent lol...Really dont know why everyone is getting so heated up over it wether they lked it or not...
-
I thought some people's heads were gonna explode they ranting and raving so much lol...
-
part of the explanation...
-
lol true man it did get a bit out of hand, me i never liked any of the st movies except for first contact and khan, but i did like the new one tho, it tried to be diffrent and i carnt fault jj for that and very true arteska t2 influenced alot of movies since its release!
-
A fellow West Aussie, but McG as director really worries me. Even the Bale lovers can't be so confident pre reviews with this guy in charge.
-
Nice to be on the talkbacks with two guys that actually know what they're talking about. Did you see that clip of Sigourney Weaver talking about Avatar? Man...I haven't been this excited for a movie in years.
-
No concerns, no keeping expectations in check, or is it simply about Jims greatness from T1 to True Lies and getting those eyeballs all lubed up
-
I'm not saying McG is some reat director, at least until i see this, but he isnt nearly as bad as Sommers or Emmerich. Im not really sure where the level of hate comes from (except the stupid name). The guy really hasnt even had his shot yet. i dont really give a shit if he started in music videos.

The endless T2 awesome/lame argument
by i_am_not_the_droid_you_are_looking_for
Jesus fucking christ. If you can't even recognise the fact that it's, at the very least, a very well made film you need to get over your Daddy complex. Okay, so you've never met him because your mum was a slut who barely remembers letting some halfwit dump his load in her. Get over it. I'm sure you really wish you had a Robodaddy too.
-
fuck you sir, fuck you very much.
-
sad delusional person actually said that. But that dude is just how bad the level of criticism has gotten here on aicn talkback...
-
said. You my man are fkn professional...
-
McG, no? He has nt proven himself one damn bit in genre film, either way. Thus my whole bewilderment at this "T4 will destroy Cameron's movies" bullshit. Based on what exactly? Would that be McG's singular style or approach to filmaking that marks his films out as unique, or specifically his? All i know is im still waiting for an answer from McG's fans...
-
made....oh wait...there are nt any...
-
always you, lightstormer, turd, ukfilm, miyamoto et al...you guys are THE professionals here...
-
he probably doesnt deserve being put on Terminator, but its still better than putting someone on it that i know sucks. plus a lot of great movies like Aliens had unproven directors.
-
guys not willing to give Cameron one damn bit of benefit of the doubt given his past track record in sci-fi action filmaking. But they are almost falling over themselves to proclaim McG's greatness....
-
gig based on the terminator, and he had wrote it, deseigned the endo skeleton, the HKs etc..And he wrote Aliens and Rambo 2. Not really unproven, i would say he earned the right to make Aliens
-
If you don't see how James Cameron deliberately toned down the blood and gore, then you're not looking hard enough. Aliens is by far the tamest movie in the series, with most of the violence merely being implied rather than shown. Contrast this with something like Alien Resurrection in which much of the violence was simply excessive and gratuitous.
-
, writes the scripts, produces it, does a lot of the conceptual designs, and then that movie becomes successful and iconic. Then we can maybe begin to compare...
-
that were hugged too much as children and think their opinion trumps decades of praise for Cameron's movies. I dont know why they are so attracted to AICN.
-
Cameron took a page outof the book of another talented filmaker..spielberg ala Jaws. Where more is also implied. And with both Aliens and Jaws its the characters you remember. Whereas who remembers Alien ressurection? Or gives a shit about it for that matter?
-
and youre looking too hard. Nothing will be as iconic as the chestburster scene in Alien, but the chestburster scene in Aliens was about a sick and even more fucked up when the put the flamethrower on her. Its not toned down, the movie is just faster paced and doesnt linger as long. thats not watered down.
-
was dreadful. I remember walking out of that film back in 97 going "way to go guys, you just totally fucked the Alien saga". The Newborn...WTF? You have the greatest alien monster of all time so what do you do? Scrap it and bring in that piece of shit. I felt embarrassed for Sigourney Weaver, I really did.
-
if they dont like Cameron's movies, everyone's got their personal taste, but show some fucking respect to a director that has earned his stripes. And as I said, stop trying to pull shit out of your asses because you cant handle that his movies have always been highly praised and seen as pushing fx forward and a cut above most of the action sci-fi crap the studios heap on us. Shit, he is one of the few genre filmakers that is respected by both other genre filmakers and your more arty/indie filmakers...
-
clout and reputation on the line...
-
period.
-
nt it? I m not sure what was more dissapointing Alien 3 or 4....well then there was AVP...yikes!
-

If you think that a flick like Aliens "needs more gore"...
by i_am_not_the_droid_you_are_looking_for
you need to fuck off and take your shitty Hostel and Saw flicks with you. It takes skill to successfully imply violence. Hence why no-talent scumbags like Eli Roth simply show it for shock value. Take another look at Scream, for example. There is barely any gore, but it's very violent. Much more effective than torture porn.
-
, is nt another TPM (though i seriously doubt it) and its what we hope it to be, it is going to be damn funny watching the anti-cameron brigade try to think up any thing they can to find fault with or offer as proof to its suckiness. Even if it gets rave reviews, does huge at the b.o, and does push fx forward, they will be like those trekkies in the onion cartoon....
-
I really liked Alien 3. It was clear Fincher's vision was compromised by the suits but the title sequence, production design, cinematography and score are outstanding. And Weaver and Charles Dutton are both magnificent in it. I think it's a brave film, commercially doomed by talking the opposite approach to Aliens. But a remake of Aliens would have been pointless, nobody could have topped it.
-
why horror movies are so bad today, the filmakers think its all about gore. They dont realise that its just gross, not scary. Scary is what the mind can only imagine, and thats why it takes such skill to imply violence, and truly scare an audiance. Wes Craven know how to do that...
-
longer. I love the extended additions of the LOTR trilogy but did they set a really bad precedent. We're told Watchmen will be better when the extra footage is cut back in. Now this is going to be 40 minutes longer than the theatrical cut when it hits DVD. Are they trying to convince me to stay home and wait for the DVD?
-
but the massive dissapointment was killing newt and hicks so pointlessly and arbitrarily. And that it did not deliver on the aliens on earth that was promised in the teaser...
-
has been quite liberal with it so far near as I can tell. He talks as much crap and contradicts himself about as much as Michael "Megatron's not even in the movie" Bay...
-
True, but what would Hicks and Newt have done in the film that they didn't do in Aliens? I liked the morbid approach to the movie, kind of a grave marker for the Alien films. Everything that came after doesn't exist for me.
And yeah, it was stupid of Fox to release a trailer and then completely rewrite the script. Morons. -
trilogy, the possibilties were endless after the end of Aliens,it promised so much. How did everyone involved fuck up so bad?
-
Even Harry obviously has so what’s the point of a discussion? I love Cameron as much as the next guy but the man hasn’t done anything in twelve years save a couple IMAX documentaries. The Terminator mythos has always promised us a future war possibility and I’m certainly not going to dismiss such an interesting concept merely because the director is unproven. I loved the Abrams Star Trek and personally, I’ve been underwhelmed with just about everything else the man has done so I don’t feel the need to write off McG just because he directed Charlie’s Angels. As to the rating, while I’d prefer an R the film hardly looks like a kid-friendly crapfest made for hocking lame toys so I’m really not sure where the hate is coming from in that regard. I think the clips look dark and nasty as hell and the whole concept of machines thinking they are human looks intriguing. Lastly, while I love T2 it’s hardly the flawless diamond some of you are asserting; Edward Furlong is simply bad in the film and Arnold’s thumb up at the end is downright insipid. Still a great flick but hardly untouchable, especially considering how vastly different this new material looks to be.
-
fighting the alien. Their deaths could have had some meaning, fans could have been rewarded for giving a shit about these characters in Aliens...
-
Well they kept cutting Fincher off at the balls. But I like it, despite its faults. It has vision, something sorely lacking in everything that came after.
-
Did ANYONE watch Aliens and think to themselves, "this movie needs more gore"? In a great movie, most people wouldn't even notice the relatively tame violence. And in a bad movie, violence or no violence doesn't matter, what with the movie being garbage.
-
May 11, 2009 10:16:03 AM CDT
Alien3 is a great fucking flick
by i_am_not_the_droid_you_are_looking_for
I love that they had the balls to kill off Newt and Hicks. It's a pitch black finale to a great trilogy. It should've ended there.
-
my problems with that one were the boring characters and a weak dog alien that Charles Dutton could wrestle (what the fuck was up with that ending?). I just remember lots of shots of interchangeable bald guys running through tunnels. Then Resurrection went all cartoony and at this point i dont really care to see any more Alien movies.
-
Assuming you are correct in that Newt and Hicks had nothing to offer for a third flick, why bother having them live through the second? Ripley and the rest should have just died when the planet was nuked at the end of Aliens. All Ripley did was spread the organism to another group of human hosts.
-
that i sincerely hope that those of you interested ad/or excited by this movie enjoy it, i hope it entertains you. I just know now its not for me based on the reviews, the ending which sounds really bad, and the clips. Im no longer interested in just adequate/decent terminator sequals. And as i hace stated the future war depicted here from the clips and trailers looks nothing like the future war that i though i would be getting...
-
Alien 3 is a great movie that shouldn't have taken place in the Alien universe.
-
May 11, 2009 10:23:37 AM CDT
Alien is horror. Aliens isn't.
by i_am_not_the_droid_you_are_looking_for
It's an action/war flick. It's a completely different flick than Alien. Your "this should have more gore" expectations clearly show you didn't understand that.
-
simply arguing against all the Cameron Bashing, and the claim that T2 is bad filmaking...And as i have said, im still waiting for a logical, well reasoned argument from them, and to back up their opinion with something quantifiable. As in the movies b.o, its critical reception, its standing in film history, or its action scenes, the fx, the designs, the cinematography, the direction etc...
-
she had fought so hard to save them in the previous film and they died senselessly, but that happens. it shattered her world and she really became an empty shell, or womb if you will. all she had now was an android. ironic. yes. perfect. hell yes.
-
You've made a choice based on a few clips, a few reviews (and none of these from a reputable source) and rumors of an ending that may not even be true. Also, I'm glad the future war is being shown differently from what I expected, otherwise the whole endeavor would be dull. Personally, I've learned not to judge films on anything but their entirety.
-
Seeing a few clips, hearing a few reviews- isn't that enough for someone to say "You know what? I don't think this is something I'm gonna like. Looks like it sucks."
-
She was having an affair with that doctor within an hour of the film so I'm not really buying the concept of her being a hollow shell. She is certainly fucked up but the point remains, killing off Hicks and Newt effectively made the last 30 minutes of Aliens pointless. Also, it's shoddy logic to think they wouldn't have done a serious sweep of the ship after killing the queen before going into stasis considering what that alien bitch was capable of. Ripley's persona was rooted in paranoia of the Aliens. After all she had endured, it seems silly she would simply take it for granted that the threat was gone, especially considering that her first instinct in Alien 3 was to look for the creatures.
-
southafricanguy, for a guy who 'knows T4 isn't for him' you sure are posting a lot.
-
If you recall, the queen ripped off its egg sac before chasing Ripley. So they never should have had to do a sweep of the ship, since the queen should have been incapable of laying any more eggs. Of course this also means that Alien 3 never should have happened...
-
Placing aside the issue of not caring at all what some early reviews think, I've yet to hear anybody articulate why these clips look so bad. The main criticisms being levied against the film in here are the following: Cameron didn't direct it; McG sucks; T2 can never be topped; Arnold isn't in it; the film is rated PG-13. Of course in the end people need to make their own choices but really, what about any of these clips is so bad? I think most of the detractors are merely assuming the film will be lackluster based on various elements rather than anything concrete, like footage. My point is that it's difficult to judge any film based on a few minutes of footage so I would think most fans of the franchise would at least be interested to see this film given how long many of us have pined for a future wars scenario. Perhaps I'm just not cynical enough for the internet but nothing in the clips or trailers has looked bad to me personally and Bale has proven to be pretty damn good at choosing projects so I can’t really get behind the negativity on this one. If the film doesn’t deliver after the fact then I’ll probably write-off McG’s efforts but so far, I think it’s looking pretty solid.

until the whole sex with alien thing in Alien 4, it wasnt terrib
by bmacsmith
blame Sigourney for that fuck up. other than some oddly comic acting from some of the actors, it was pretty good in the first half. i liked the mercenaries.
-
I was actually going to bring that up but I thought maybe that was being a tad too nitpicky. Either way, Alien 3 doesn't happen, so there you go...
-
now we are just getting stupid..Aliens and Alien 3 were written by different people. Alien 3 unfortunately was a "release date film" meaning they rushed it into production..for more info on this watch the docs on the quadrilogy set. yes, events happened in alien 3 that in hindsight made the last part of aliens pointless. kinda stupid to assume this, she shoulda just killed herself on the Nostromo as soon as she woke up and shot all her crew members. its not the fianl destination thats important, its the journey.
-
shouldn't you be in the STAR TREK LIVES TB trashing the new film, hater? Hypocrisy Lives!!!
-
The first half of Alien 4 is actually pretty solid (we even get some Ron Pearlman in the mix, along with the awesomely sleazy Michael Wincott) but that hybrid thing ruins the last third of the film. The Alien design is one of the coolest creatures in the history of cinema. How did they go from that to the hybird, down-syndrome Alien baby? Yikes.

ian malcolm states "nature finds a way" come on guys, we are talking about a film with aliens in it

Personally, I don't think T4 looks shit
by i_am_not_the_droid_you_are_looking_for
It looks pretty slick to me. But it's McG, who does not instill faith. He's made three shitty flicks. I'm ready for him to make a good one. The only cast member that comes off well in the trailers is Worthington. The kid who plays Kyle Reese looks all wrong. Bale screaming "we're all dead" is more irritating than anything else. But I'll see it, and be very happy if it turns out to be good. I'm just not holding my breath.
-
he should be in more movies
-
Did the person who wrote Alien 3 bother to watch Aliens? The logic holes and issues with Alien 3 are pretty obvious and while I don't hate the film I can't really justify why it was made when Aliens pretty much wiped out the organism and ended the story in a satisfying manner.

Honestly, I don't know. I haven't seen them yet. I've heard such bad reactions that I think I'm afraid to. When I first heard about the project, I was against it. Saw the first teaser- wasn't impressed. Started seeing more (better) trailers, and started getting hyped up about it. Heard McG's bullshit remarks about original endings and ideas for sequels. Started getting MUCH less interested. Heard bad reactions to the clips. Interest still slipping... I'm afraid I'll watch the clips and agree, that they won't instill any confidence in me.
-
multiple rewrites, combining scripts, rushed production, studio interference... it was a total disaster. Even Fincher hates it. This wasnt the Little Alien Indie Flick that people want to make it out to be. it was a big studio disaster.
-
1.)James Cameron is a great filmaker, period and dot.2.)The Terminator and T2 are sci-fi/horror and sci-fi/action classics, period and dot.
I was against this film at the start, if anybody remembers on the first TB's. I thought that there was no way this would work with McG and I was pissed. I even remember hoping it was all false, and that Bale was just "in talks" to star in it, LOL!Back to points:
3.) Nothing in the footage so far looks like crap. The trailers are frickin' ace (which is what has gotten my hopes/support for this film up), and those 10 clips were fine. The first with Ironside and Bale was edited all to heck, the one where Kyle and Marcus catch the t600 looks good, and most of the rest was dialouge. And it all looked fine. Not outstandingly awesome, but just like normal dialogue scenes.Certainly not like a "sci-fi channel movie of the week" like some have posted.Final point: before JJ Abrams made star trek a hit, he had crappy movies to his credit. And before Peter Jackson made LOTR, he'd made the frighteners. I'm hoping that McG can do the same here. -
kill and/or rape kittens much?
-
I really have no idea if this film will be good or not, but the bottom line is this: you are an intelligent person and you can make up your own mind either way. I'd either watch some more clips OR just go see the flick and not worry about impressions from others. Like Abrams Star Trek, people are coming to this franchise with a lot of baggage and opinions will vary radically, regardless of quality. That's my two cents anyway. There's no law saying you have to enjoy this film or even see it.
-

The Frighteners fucking rules
by i_am_not_the_droid_you_are_looking_for
And before LOTR Jackson had also made Bad Taste, Brain Dead, Meet the Feebles and Heavenly Creatures. All various degrees of great. McG has made Charlies Angels 1 & 2 and a college football flick with McConaughey. All various degrees of shit.
-
or at least he made it a lot better than it had any right to be. Its not like he had any clout to make a real movie, but considering he took a really bad idea and made it watchable, he really doesnt deserve the shit he gets. i havent seen the other two and i dont really care to, but at least judging from the trailer he isnt completely incompetent. That giant Terminator thing just took a huge shit on everything Bay has been trying and failing with Transformers. I'll give him a chance.
-
May 11, 2009 11:38:02 AM CDT
Charlies Angels is a steaming load of shit
by i_am_not_the_droid_you_are_looking_for
Especially it's sickening smugness at how apparently clever it is. The fact that it got a sequel speaks volumes for the power of teenage girls and gay men.
-
and it had Crispin Glover as some kind of weirdo ninja. and it somehow made Drew Barrymore look attractive. and Bill Murray. dude, it was a pretty fun movie. the action was well done. Nothing in it disqualified him from making more movies.
-
And the second one was unfathomably worse. If you want to support dreck, by all means, go for it. I choose not to. But like I said before, T4 looks pretty slick. I have many reservations, mostly based on McG, what appears to be Bale's interchangable gruff voice/abrasive screaming performance and the kid who plays Kyle Reese, but I'm more than happy for McG to prove himself to be a good director. I'm hoping it's a good flick.
-
1/ Six Demon Bag wtf, have no idea what you're talking bro.
2/ BLEST I do have an idea what YOU are talkin about. I agree with all three points.
3/ BMacSmith you're also right. Everyone slates McG because he was hired as the director for CHARLIES ANGELS... but - would a James Cameron directed CHARLIES ANGELS have been much better? What about Ridley Scott or Spielberg? I say McG played the hand he had dealt to him. CHARLIES ANGELS would have been slammed by us geeks WHOEVER directed it.
True or false? -
better than expected and succeeds in what it tried to do. deal with it. no reason to get all butthurt over it.
-
'butthurt'
-
That's if you watch all of them today. T1 is just dated with bad 80s music and too many foot chases.
-
So, another reimagined reboot? W/ Anton Yelchin? Still, movie looks awesome, but worried about all the redone reworked alternate endings.
-
When T3 was borderline comedy/parody. TALK TO THE HAND? Remember that from T3? How and the heel can you call T2 fluff or light when T3 was such a fucking joke?
-
X3 proved that they can cgi faces to make them look younger. Also if this is an alternate timeline from T1/T2 why cant they just say that he is older in this timeline?
-
God I hope your joking. How old are you? If you think T3 and Transformers are better than T1 then you have to be under the age of 15.
-
The production process on Alien 3 was a disaster but it actually took more money worldwide than Aliens. Strange but true.
-
and it's story/action/plot, as opposed to how it sucks or doesn't, McG is gay or isn't, Cameron is a genius or isn't, T2 sucks or doesn't, T2 would've been rated pg-13 or wouldn't, etc....There's a new Terminator film coming out in less than 2 weeks! It's set in the future, with the Resistance v.s. Skynet!Bale v.s. Arnold is rumored! Is this crap? Is it great? Let's focus more on the film coming out and it's story...
-
Alien 3 did better than Aliens because Fox marketed it more. Remember that Fox had little expectations for Aliens in 86. They thought Spacecamp was going to be their big summer film.
-
Sadly box office is little indicator of quality...
When asked why he's doing ANGELS & DEMONS Ron Howard pointed out that THE DA VINCI CODE took over double any other movie he's made. -
While I think T2 is the better flick the Terminator in T3 was actually much more like the Terminator in the original. He was very cold, at one point choking John to get him to focus, not to mention tricking him into the silo at the end. By the end of T2, the Terminator was basically acting like a regular person.
-
Truth be told, had Cameron really intended T2 to be the end of Skynet, John Conner should have ceased to exist, at least based on the linear time travle set up in the films.
-
That everybody who has ever Bitched, Whined or Complained about this new Terminator film On this website, will be the first ones in line come opening weekend.
-
How about giving us the full movie first time round, McDouche? As for Charlie's Angels, if he had any integrity he wouldn't have accepted becoming a direct for hire on such a pile of crap in the first place, he would have developed his own idea - like Cameron (or Nolan or Jackson, all of which started with low budget movies and worked their way up). Oh wait, he doesn't have the talent to do that!
-
I prefer the robotic Terminators, and am glad that's what we're getting with TERMINATOR SALVATION.
The liquid metal ones from T2 and T3 are fun for the fx, but are also ridiculously over-powerful. Couldn't imagine the grimy ol' resistance lasting too long against those things.
Mind you, if the technology could be mastered to once again serve humans imagine how cool the Terminatrix would be. Changing from Salma to Angelina, to Megan while you fucked her. And finally to Aunt Beru for the money shot. OHHH GODDDD!! -
if he had any integrity he wouldnt have taken the job? what kind of shit is that? What do you do for a living? Are you able keep complete artistic integrity waiting tables or wahing dishes or whatever you did? If somebody wants to direct, they arent gonna turn down shit to break in. is it lonely up there on your pedestal?
-
Too right MrTibbs, make a list of the haters pre-release, and see how many of the 'im boycotting wah wah wah whiners' turn up in later talkbacks with their comments about the film.
They're all Bale's bitches. -
i assume you are still too respectable and refuse to sellout at your job at McDonald's.
-
Wolverine looked like shit to me so i didnt see it. how hard is that? No one has self control these days. I'll wait to rent it out of a Redbox for a dollar.
-
Turdontherun you're Bale's bitch too.
You're idea of a boycott will be refusing to go to the 6pm show, and going to the 9pm instead. -
Thank god for you. If the rest of the moviegoing public had your selfcontrol we might actually start getting quality films again. I for my part will never financially support anything George Lucas does anymore. But thats not really hard to do because whatever he attaches his name to nowadays is an indicator that it will be shit.
-
So you somehow misguidedly want to defend McDouche? He is a cock. My point has nothing to do with snobbery. NO director of integrity would do just ANYTHING to break in. Look at any great director of the past - none of them started with glossy studio trash. Cameron, Scorsese, Coppola, etc. all started working with Roger Corman, for example, or Spielberg starting in TV, but that was all still a good training ground, and they quickly developed their own stuff, whether that was T1 or Mean Streets or Bad Taste, or Following (Nolan's first film). The point is, dickheads like McG get dropped in at the deep end too fast, because they are greedy and will suck any dick to get to the top. That's why they do slick trash with none of their personality in it, like Charlie's Angels, and whether anyone could have made a better Charlie's Angels film or not is a moot point.
-
I will not be boycotting Termi Castration. I will be going to see it, probably out of some type of morbid curiousity. I hope I can find a glimmer of enjoyment in it. I hope to be proved wrong. I hope Bale will be professional. I hope McG will prove to a great director. We can all live in hope, eh?
-
That is all.
-
Watchmen during its theatrical run, still haven't, won't. And I've bought the graphic novel at least ten times. I've spent at least $1000 on terminator memoribilia. And I don't plan on going to see this.
-
he wouldn't have made Charlies Angels 2. Fair play on eating a mile of shit to get your foot in the door, but don't go back for seconds.
-
Those who've posted that, I'm curious as to why.And don't just respond with "McG" or "pg-13". What about the trailers/footage has turned you off?
-
trailer looked cool tom, but i dont watch movies on Friday or Saturdays anyway. Fighting through crowds and dealing with loud idiots is torture for me. probably see it Sunday.
-
from pizza hut. Anyone who is doubting McG actually did a T movie after this will deserve to DIE IN HELL ! The sound. The editing. The humanity. The robotic beats. It's all fuckin there ! PROFESSIONAL !

ANYONE NOT SEEING THIS SHOULD BE BANNED FROM SEEIN MOVIES PERIOD
by theplant
ANYONE NOT ATTENDING T4 SHOULD BE BARRED FROM SEEING MOVIES PERIOD FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES. MCG IS DA SHIT. IT'S A PRELUDE TO AVATAR GREATNESS STARRING THE SAME HERO (NOT BALE). YOU HAVE TO SEE IT MORONS, FATTIES, GEEKIES, AND VIRGINS !
-
it just looks mediocre and cookie cutter and generic. maybe its cause T1 and T2 set the precedent and there have been far too many imitations in the sci fi action genre..just looks like a mash up of mad max terminator and death race? if its good, i will be the first to admit it
-

by six demon bag
McG hasnt proved shit so far to me..as stated before, anyone can make a kickass trailer out of the shittiest film. it even looks like they used a nuclear blast from T3...when you have a hyper edited trailer, usually its all a bunch of sound and fury baby.
-
Even though it's really hard to take anyone seriously when they refer to themself as McG...it just really sounds stupid when he actually says his name.
-
I have a feeling quite a few people might be skipping this one, and I doubt they will experience any remorse by doing so.
-
That's fair. So it's more of the look/color/cinematography than actual scenes or story points, then?Or is it the story also?
-
...and Kate Winslet got totally naked (full frontal). They called it "art" and got away with it.
-
Because it sounds like their original idea was to NOT have John Connor in the movie at all! According to IMDB, Bale said he'd only come onboard if they rewrote the movie to give Bale a bigger part, as originally it was only like a small scene. I guess the whole movie was going to be about Marcus instead (give me a fucking break). From IMDB: Scriptwriter John Brancato says "A lot of the work was integrating (Connor) into scenes... and having that feel integral and sensible, as opposed to grafted on just because there was a star in the part."" Is it REALLY that damn hard to put John Connor into a Terminator story about the future war??
-
Don't be a moron.
-
Why did they even hire him. I have yet to see this guy show any real personality except in American Psycho. All these big budget blockbusters he's in just suck the acting out and just force him to pose the whole time. What was he doing all 4 minutes of that trailer? Posing.
-
'If McG had any integrity he wouldn't have made Charlies Angels 2. Fair play on eating a mile of shit to get your foot in the door, but don't go back for seconds.' lol Droid.
Drturing, I haven't seen WATCHMEN yet either. Good Doctor you said you spent $1000 on TERMINATOR memoribilia - what on?
I'm not looking to tease, honest question. -
Okay as we all know McG got his big break with CHARLIES ANGELS.
If you were then offered x-million dollars to do a sequel, shooting a flick for four months with hot women playing sexy dress up - what would be YOUR answer?
I still say McG did good with the job he was given. I don't cry at night wondering what Nolan or Spielberg would have done if only they'd been given the CHARLIES ANGELS gig. It went to McG and he did as good a job as ANYONE could have done considering the material. -
in the past 25 years since i saw the first termiator aged 7 ive easily spent a grand on dvds, books, Laserdiscs, vhs tapes, comics, toys, statues, etc. Dude I own the Dark Horse Abyss comics, the Orson Scott Card novelization of The Abyss. The first LASERDISC i ever bought was Aliens.
-
dont really 100% sure what the plot is...yes i know FUTURE WAR and Worthington is a robot (i dunno why they gave that kernal of info away). that is its only saving grace right now for me..i will see it next friday expecting a "summer film" and with expectations on low. hopefully it will be better than that. Terminator-mad max-matrix mashup

some people consider original Star Wars as the holy trinity
by bmacsmith
for me its Predator, Aliens, and Terminator. Too bad the thing they have in common with Star Wars is a mountain of shitty sequels.
-
Doc thx for reply but from what you wrote it sounds to me like you're more of a James Cameron fan rather than a Terminator fan.
Maybe you can answer why the James Cameron fanboys feel morally obliged to boycott this?
Big Jim will never do another TERMINATOR himself - so would you rather the series was dead and buried forever?
I personally love the idea of a new TERMINATOR trilogy. -
but after like six posts after harry's last my brain started to hurt. I agree, I can't believe that people blcaiming to love film hat T2. That movie fucking rocks and don't give me that shit that "my memories of it has tainted my opinion". I will still pop it in every few months just to see what great action films used to be like.

What the fuck else do you fukn circus animals want?
by theycallmemrtibbs
Some of you guys are a trip
-- Really.
What else do you want in a Summer Blockbuster?
BrokeBack Mountain?
You got big fucking Terminators Small Terminators, Humans being turned into Terminators, Christine Bale doing his cool, whisper voice thing, shit blowing up in every scene and an established story-line.
As being one who saw both Terminator 1, 2 and 3 at the theaters...
I will say this one looks massive compared to the earlier films. Lets not forget the first one was a B-movie that very few people knew about.
McG, Mc Donald's Whoever the fuck directed it. This movie looks cool as shit and anybody saying any thing different is not a Comic, Sci-fi Geek or a Trekkie, Your'e just some weirdo that want attention and should be somewhere knitting they're pet hamster a sweater.
That you may actually enjoy.
'Sides give Mcg some credit, he's the director that shot Cameron Diaz in her Underoos shaking her ass. -
MrTibbs you da Mister Man!
Talkin some wisdom there dude.
However don't call Bale 'Christine', that's not professional. -
I personally dont give a shit about Bale as an actor either, not into his cold face which is SUPPOSED to be "subtle intensity" or some other horseshit that gets repeated over and over and people start believeing, i see a 2x4 male model. the batmans are talky boring snooze inducing bullshit with a limp dick cast of veteran actors who just stand around and talk all serious and this is supposed to be AWESOME. no fuck you and your IDEARS.
-
Thank you for that post, tv violence is right. In fact T2 might be the limpest of all his action movies. Sure this isn't the "bodybag 80s" anymore but even his other 90s movies were gory. The guy pulls some random civilian in Total Recall and uses him as a body meat shield, in True Lies he's snapping necks like Steven Seagal. Even in Eraser he's blowing people away people into windows with a mad max sawed off shotgun. No bullshit 'no kill' rule.
-
I’m not a fan of his work either but he really hasn’t done that much either way and Charlie’s Angels was a foot in the door whether you think it was a legitimate starting point or not. Regardless, the way you talk about him “sucking cock” to get these jobs seems ridiculously excessive unless you know the man personally. I mean, if the Terminator: Salvation clips looked like some of his other work I’d see the point of deriding him but none of those clips have looked bad or even mediocre. Isn’t it safe to say if you’ve already decided to hate the man and his work this much before seeing the actual film then it follows that there really isn’t much hope he could ever please you?
-
He's a character actor nothing more nothing else, American Psycho, Shaft, The Machinist, Equlibrium, Bat-Man?
He's the same guy in every movie... Not that it's a bad thing...If it works
Sure, deny it now.... but if he continues down this path he will be the new Samuel Jackson,
A decent actor who started to appear in a little too much shit in the last ten years, Either because the character sounded cool to play or for the cash.
Yeah, I said it.....WHUT? -
and there is a pic of Terminator standing over what looks a crying 10 year old boy in the human experimentation lab, with all kinds of needles in him, and him crying. If that type of stuff is the film, there will be some folks here eating crow. Also, the novel doesn't end with any lame "heart transplant" like that one reviewer said it did. They leave with Marcus and it sets up for later when they'll probably have to kill him in the next one because of some deeper programming acquired when he logs into the skynet base. And that would be after he's helped save everybody in this film.
-
the Bale will be castrated and used as target practice! THE BALE WILL TRASH YOU AND YOUR LIGHTS
-
1) T2 would have kicked ass if no one knew about the T-1000 in the ads. It was well crafted and a well made movie, but it is the liquid metal terminator that made that movie, pure and simple. And if I never knew it was going to be in the film, I wonder how much it would have blown my teenage brain away.
2) I wonder why this film has to be a Terminator film. I mean, couldn't the studios have thought about an entirely new storyline involving humans fighting robots. Yeah, I know Terminator has name recognition but I would love if Hollywood would come up with more original material, or at least not have the stuff be connected to 10 other movies. You look at all the big tent pole movies, excluding Avatar & Up, they are all sequels or reboots of franchises (Fast & Furious, Wolverine, Star Trek, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, Transformers 2, Harry Potter, Saw VI).
3) How the fuck does Skynet have a chance? He is against the All-Mighty Bale! This film should take 10 minutes tops! -
1.)thats really the case with a lot of movies.2.) and how many people would automaticaly bash it as a Terminator ripoff? Plus MAtrix has mined similar ideas also.
-
i love the idea of a future war terminator trilogy. to be honest if zack synder was directing it, as someone who actively will never watch his watchmen, i'd be fine with that. I'd be really fucking happy if someone truly a list was directing it. but again as with Watchmen I think it's a case of bad fit of director to material. that's all there is to it. and again, i don't necessarily think McG is a bad director, he's just not the right kind of director for something like this. it's that simple to me. if you take a beloved franchise, put someone in the seat who knows what they're doing. you know what would never happen but i'd fucking spooge over? a post hurt locker kathryn bigelow terminator or a paul greengrass terminator or even a peter berg terminator. gimme someone who has balls instead of someone who is so desperately trying to reinvent themselves. i was pretty amped for this til i saw the clips. dramatically it's redolent of the worst melodramatic television cliches with a lot of money spent on it. and the look of its future is so obviously cribbed from children of men without understanding why children of men looks the way it does. the alien and terminator franchises deserve the best directors. we did not get them.
-
absolutely right
-
1) That would've blown my mind into a million liquid metal smithereens that would have eventually just glided along the floor to reconstitute itself.
2) Because people would've torn this sci-fi-movie-set-in-a-post-apocalyptic-future-featuring robots-that-terminate-people to pieces for being unoriginal.
3) Skynet = Fuckin' Amateur -
I would've talked Snyder out of Watchmen, made sure it never got made, put him on the new Terminator instead, greenlit supermax because a green lantern / green arrow standalone movie doesn't work, gotten Peter Berg to try and develop an emotionally real Superman set in as real a world as ours as possible even if it would never go anywhere, and hired McG to direct a low budget musical set in the world of ghost ridin the whip.
-
has put me off this movie quite honestly.I know I'll catch hell from you cunts but Im gonna defend the lighting guy.The audio was on but they werent running film...does anyone know what that means?Anyone?...anyone? ok I'll tell you...IT WAS A REHERSAL...they reherse so as to get it right, things like lighting and audio and backgrounds. The guy was doing his fucking job and bale is gonna turn into a little baby DURING A REHERSAL...fucking cunt.
-
No, it doesn't mean it was rehearsal. They could have shot it and not circled the take. You always roll and record sound, you don't necessarily develop every shot you take.
-
in the trailers was a really bad, stupid idea. It's obviously meant to be a surprise to the characters that he is a sleeper. Making it a surprise for the audience (the part that doesn't read the geek websites but has seen the trailers) would have been great. When I first saw it, my eyes went wide when Huntington wailed and he saw his shredded skin, but that thrill is killed forever now. Idiots.
-
Jesus rudely overturned the carts of the money changers at the temples. Sometimes to get your message across, your messiah has to be a little loud and in your face.

Everything the kid says is completely and utterly rendered void of anything even remotley qualifying as pertinent to any discussion, based solely on his T2 rants.
To say the T2 "sucks" is one of the most presposterous statements one could make.

No, I understand what some of you are saying. Yeah, everyone would have said it was mining material from Terminator and Matrix, but humans fighting against robots has been a stable of sci-fi for decades, and has been a mainstay of doomsday scenarios for years. Plus, all McG and the studios have to say is "I always loved the Terminator movies, but the one thing I always wanted to see was the war between humans and robots, and I thought I would make my own movie humans fighting against robots trying to take over the world."
Of course, I am still going to give them the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully they have some angle in this story that says it could have only been part of the Terminator series and couldn't have been made as a stand alone film, or that it was only green-lighted to cash in on a franchise name. I am hoping for "Aliens" and not "Alien: Resurrection." -
He is always on. There is no turning him OFF.Unless of course you're talking about turning him off sexually. In that case it's moles on a naked body. The Bale hates big moles.

With their sausage fingers.
Ewww... -
What I haven't seen the previews yet are all of the skulls littered all over the place as were seen in T1 and T2 future scenes. Also, the future scenes in the originals seemed to have really big battle with lots of guys on boths sides blasting the shit out of each other almost to a Starship Troopers level. There would be like 20 Terminators in one shot being escorted by HK's and big tank-like things. What I have seen of T4 are smaller clusters of humans against less like 3-5 Terminators at a time. I fear we are not going to get those huge battles we always wanted to see.
-
are in the Official movie companion book. Lotsa cool pics in there, actually.
-
Any valid points about the merits/flaws of the Terminator movies are drowned out by the dick-fisted trolling that passes for "debate" around here these days. I know this is talkback and iconoclastic fanboy hyperbole is this place's bread and butter, but for fuck's sake, when TB'ers line up to take pot shots at Cameron while sucking the cock of McFuckingG of all people, I have to call unprofessionalism on the whole thing. In summary, all I can say is thank god that Vern's new site has a comment feature.
-
i remember seeing T2 when it came out and i remember being one of the few who knew that arnold was good and another cyborg was bad. if i remember correctly, they kept it under wraps pretty well, and you could keeps spoilers to a minimum. the only advanced clips they had back then was "You Could Be Mine". miss those days..i feel like they give away too much in previews these days lest they be afraid you wont be interested and stay away. you gotta tease baby. tease
-
WB owns the rights, fair and square on this one (they learned their lesson) and would rather pillage a franchise than get sued by another for ripping it off. hence why Fox or MGM aint int eh "Executer" business.
-
all the T2 haters have been tucked into bed and I rule all!!!

reading my posts in future. Then you will see that I was discussing a fairly wide variety of topics with various other talkbackers. So im not sure what my disinterest with T4 has to do with anything. Also, really please give the ridiculous "you know you will see it" crap a rest. No i dont know i will see it, at least not at the cinema. Sorry but when i say im not going to see something, i actually mean it. Now...you asked for clarification for why that is...Its becos the reviews so far are bad, though i will wait to see reviews from the various film sites. You know reviews right? One of those things that exists largely to help people deceide if their money is going to be wasted on crap. I did not go see Wolverine based on the stink around that movie, and i never will. Whats more i never went into the wolverine talkback for obvious reasons. 2) McG's "ideas" for T5 sound fucking retarded beyond belief. In fact the more McG opens his mouth the more he does to dissuade me from seeing this movie. 3) The future war depiction looks bad. As many others have stated, it doesnt look very bleak, and the humans really dont look on the brink of extinction as described or shown in T1. So for me T4 is already contradicting the first 2 movies....I wont bore you with other reasons, im just talking about my own feelings regarding T4, and why it no longer interests ME. If it interests or excites you guys or anyone else, as i have said ad nauseum....i hope you enjoy it, that it entertains you, and that its the terminator movie you want....
-
be more right about how they over show and expose everything now. Those were the days when the big movies coming could still suprise. Exactly the reason why I think Cameron is actually being damn clever keeping Avatar so under wraps and not overexposing it in the media for months in advance...
-
im on the fence with the film...ill probably see it with my dad if he pays. im going in with low expectations, but comparing it to wolverine is a little offbase, i hope? i will wait for more reviews to decide to head to the theater. if yes, ill give you an unbiased opinion.
-
yeah i have no fucking clue what AVATAR is about, other than worthington being in it, cameron directing, anf it supposedly will fuck my eyeballs. been hearing that shit since 2004!
-
Where are the young Ridley Scotts and young George Lucas's(before he turned evil) Ridley Scott practically got throw off Blade Runner because he wouldnt compromise on his vision. George Lucas had a fucking heart attack fighting to make Star Wars. These guys fought tooth and nail for their dreams with zero studio support and miniscule budgets. Now you have directors like McG who bend over to the studios for 200 million dollar budgets and have no problems compromising on anything. You think Mcg or Brett Ratner or Paul Anderson had to risk much making a movie? Sure you have guys now like Nolan and Snyder, but all in all Movies suck Balls now.
-
right dude...
-
else can give me a good, objective, and unbiased review of T4, it will be greatly appreciated. And you may just convince me to go see it then. I am always open to being proved wrong..,
-
scriptment (which is out of date now and obviously much will have changed). But in a nutshell, it reads like a live action Miziyaki film. Very anime inspired, and a modern updating of John Carter of Mars. Lots of mech armour, aliens, really bizzare alien types of creatures that we have never seen on film before etc..The entire third act is just one epic (think LOTR) action set piece after another. Should be some serious spectacle...if Weta, Digital Domain, and Stan Winston studois can pull off the effects....
-
easy like a sunday morning
-
just kidding!
-
im there have yet to be disappointed by Cameron. was slightly underwhelmed by ABYSS when it came out, i think i just wanted action (like DeepStarSix or some shit like that). i was young, dont blame me.now i think it holds up well. bring avatar
-
The first movie that freaked me out as a kid with realistic violence was Predator. Head's splattering on the camera. Arm's being severed off. Bloody skinless bodies hanging from trees. I actually had nightmares about that movie. So cool. Speaking of which ... is Predator on Blu-Ray yet? That would look incredible in HD.
-
the people marketing films should go back and watch the PREDATOR trailer to learn how to do it right. made it look like an action film and then took a left turn to WTF-town
-
bale can suck it...after that I really got nothing.Seems to me he is in alot of movies that other people are there to help carry the film.Every movie hes in there are at least two other "faces" to keep him moving.Im not saying he isnt good at what he does but I do think he is a bit overrated..just a bit
-
Im not getting on this TB anymore as this movie holds no interst for me anymore.I honestly don't think it ever really heald much interest anyway. The producers did a shiite job with the trailers and pretty much gave away the plot so if you look at it the right way you've pretty much seen the movie already
-
they werent running film, fact. The insurance co covering the film asked for any film involved in the incident and mcg told them they werent running it yet. They never called action..his own words.
-
predator trailer dude. Its really become a lost art, marketing movies so that there are still suprises. Now its all about putting every money shot they can in the trailer to get those huge opening weekends, but then when you go see the movie you kind of feel like you ve seen it already....That happened with star trek for me...
-
about the whole approach to Avatar, its old school all the way so far. I mean, we are basically 6 months away from Dec, and we still have nt seen a single completed frame of footage of this movie. Apparantly it will have a big presence at SD comic con this year in August, where i guess they will show a teaser trailer. Its really smart not to overexpose any footage, or hype it up for months in advance through advertising. I love that the mainstream still has no idea of this movies existence.....

Why are the T4 critics not giving the franchise time to grow?
by d.vader
A lot of the complaints have been "They're not fighting at night, like Reese said!" or "Where are all the skulls?!" and "Why doesn't this look like the big battles we saw in T2?" Well, have you guys thought that perhaps, this is the BEGINNINGS of the big war? If this is the first in a planned trilogy, don't you think that gives us a LOT of time in which we see the machines start to turn the tide and *really* hit back hard at the humans? To the point where they can only move at night? Maybe there's a scene where hundreds of humans are slaughtered- hence all the skulls we see in T2? I mean, no one seems to have any laser guns in T4 yet either... which means, we're not at that point yet. THAT'S ALL. So, I'm deeming such complaints as being invalid. You haven't seen the stuff you want to see because in this Future Terminator Trilogy, it hasn't happened yet.
-
There are some movies out there that are so bad, opinion no longer enters into it. Even the DIRECTOR of Alien 3 hates it.
-
However according to McG if he makes another one of these he wants to go back into the past.
If true, this may be all you're going to get of any future war. -
please go anmd watch T1, and listen carefully to how Reese explains everything, its laid out quite simply. The futire shown here does nt match, it seems to contradict the first 2 movies. If this is set even earlier after judgement day thing should be even worse. Were the effects of Hiroshima worse in the following days, months of the atomic bomb? Or a decade later? Now you can make the argument that its an alternative timeline...fair enough. How many times do i have to say that i am not criticizing anyone interested in this movie or who, like you, like what they see. More power to you dude. Im not even bagging on this movie, i have no idea if its truly good or not (though the reviews have been less than steller so far). It just does nt appeal to ME dude..ok?
-
the requal trilogy, who cares if it shat all over the backstory created by the OT right? Does that make people that like/enjoyed the PT wrong? of course not...but many have valid reasons for hating it solely based on how uncle George fucked up on delivering what we had been promised ever since the end of ROTJ (aside from the other problems with the PT of course) So it is for many of us, this footage appears to do the same as far as what we were tantalized with in the first 2 movies...
-
personal tastes and preferences....If I was attacking other talkbackers here for having any interest, or pulling shit out of my ass concerning McG or a movie i have nt seen, or if I was shouting from the mountain tops that this movie is crap (though how can I as I have nt seen it) then I would be a complete idiot and hater/detractor..whatever...
-
reviews to convince me to spend money on seeing this. So all of you are most welcome to go see it, and then give me an objective, well thought out, reasoned review. As i ve said too im open to being proved wrong....
-
You're correct sir.
I ignored all the bad signs and went and saw AVP anyway. My friends and I walked out of that theater PISSED.Lesson learned though.
We waited on Die Hard 4 till it was on cable. Right decision.
Until they can show me that they can make previously R rated franchises into PG-13 movies and not have me feel like I'm paying more money for a less entertaining experience....HBO it is. -
The only movies I will still see in theaters this summer are probably Up, Public Enemies, Bruno and Inglourious Basterds. I will then patiently wait for Avatar.
-
Oh, for anyone who still thinks T4 or T3 is superior to T1 and T2, then Mac and Me must be greater than E.T. Deep Blue Sea must be better than Jaws. I could do this all day.
-
you said it brother. directors have to call their own shots. If i ever become director aint no one involved in my movie will even so much as FART if i didn't sllow it. It's going to make Orwell's 1984 look like a hippie gathering.
-
Those clips aren't very good looking. The acting looks pretty poor, with Bale phoning in some wayyy over the top acting, Bloodgood just plain acting poorly, and Yelchin not really fitting in the Kyle Reese role. Also, theres no tension in the action scenes. The one scene where Kyle saves Marcus from the t-800 or whatever is not exciting at all. Something about the way these scenes are shot just does not captivate.
Hopefully it's just the clips and the rest of the film has some great moments, cause the trailers do look pretty good. A couple of the clips also look fine, but for the most part it seems like a shoddy B-movie, which was fine for T1, but not for what theyre trying to do here. -
Not saying T1 was shoddy, as it is one of my favorite Cameron movies along with T2, but it's B movie quality really works for it, as opposed to this which should be sweeping and epic.
-
just put it better than i could have...after DH4, and AVP/AVP2, T4 and McG have everything to prove to me...
-
laugh, you pretty much just nailed that analogy on the head...
-
is a dweeb...he's no Michael Biehn. I would have taken Jamie Bell, Robert Pattinson, or Sean Faris over him. Hell, DJ Qualls in The New Guy looked more fearsome.
-
as the youg Michael Biehn? Fucking Anton Yelchin....as you say he looks super dweebish, and absolutely nothing like Biehn, im really unconvinced of him as an action hero imho. Actually i found him the weak link in Star trek, i enjoyed the new trek and thought it was quite fun despite the super dumb script. Thought the cast was pretty good, good chemistry imho, and fun to watch. Thought Yelchin made the least impression, though to be fair he wasnt given much to do either..
-
how Biehn never ended up becoming a bigger star. He was in a lot of high profile movies in the 80's, and i always thought he was a decent actor who was quite action friendly. Whatever happened to him? Thought he was good in Aliens, the abyss, and especially in Tombstone...
-
Avatar? I have nt heard anything or seen any confirmation one way or the other since there was an interview with him where he spoke about meeting with Cameron about it...
-
They can cgi faces like in X3. Or because we are in an alternate timeline than in T1/T2 why cant reese be older. Yelchin looks like he was probably picked because some dipshit casting person thought he would appeal to all the female nerds in the audience. This whole thing stinks to high heaven if you ask me. Sure I will retain even harsher judgement until i see the movie but this looks like it's not the terminator we grew up with anymore.
-
unless hes there for comic relief...in which case the whole film will implode. reese doesnt start off badass people, he picked up survival instincts and learned from experience. hes gonna be a little soft in the start then harden just like john connor and ...anakin? shit this might suck
-
will he look less and less wimpy/nerdy as the film progresses? For me its like James Mcavoy in Wanted..i dont care how hard they tried to sell him as an action star, you still now he's a short little wee man that looks about as tough and menacing as Elija Wood...(remember when they tried to make you believe he was a hard soccer hooligan?) lol...

Not a joke, the real deal -
Watching Bale in 3:10 to Yuma and watching him Harsh Times is an incredibly different experience. The man can play weak, slippery, evil or good with equal skill so I really have no idea why anybody would claim he lacks range. Bale has more range than the vast majority of actors working in the industry and he also possess the willingness to alter himself physically for each role, which is both admirable and insane. Also, he already apologized profusely for the light tirade so using that against him is unfair. We've all had our moments and considering the other things that were going on in his life at the time, I really don't think the incident makes him an irredeemable prick.
-
from the clip i think hes playing it right...biehn played Reese as well as Hicks as a man of few words. he observes and says what he needs to say bluntly. the way Anton says his line in "the clip" had me thinking he got Kyle's vocal mannerisms right at least...
-
just curious, wanted to know how many films that are enforced by embargo that are actually good
-
bye!
-
good point... hell they made Brad Pitt look 20 in Benjamin Button. I'm sure they could have done the same to Biehn.

that just didn't turn out too well with Wolverine and Star Trek.
