Seth Green And Friends To Star In Adult Swim Giant-Robot Stop-Motion ROBOT CHICKEN Spin-Off TITAN MAXIMUM!!

Published at:  May 07, 2009 2:22:58 AM CDT

I am – Hercules!!

The folks behind “Robot Chicken” are mounting “Titan Maximum,” a new stop-motion series that will feature a episode-long plotlines and characters that will continue from episode to episode.

“Robot” vets Seth Green, Rachael Leigh Cook, Dan Milano, Breckin Meyer and Eden Espinosa will lend their voices to the project.

It’s about a Power Rangers-like squad that can combine its spacecraft to form a giant fighting robot.

"There were always teams of extraordinary young people with the fate of the universe in their hands," writer/producer Tom Root tells The Hollywood Reporter. "In reality, that would end terribly. The last thing you want when giant monsters attack is a bunch of teenagers in charge of defending you. 'Titan Maximum' is about what would really happen if a team of idiot kids was in charge of a 6-story-tall robot."

    Doesn't Sound..THAT Bad

    by the_dreaded_rear_admiral

Actually, sounds pretty good! Voltron, Orbots, and however many other conjoining robot shows need this treatment.
    Oh, yeah...FIRST!

    Yeah, sounds interesting.

    by derlanghaarige

I mean, we all know that it will end up in an endless tring of in-your-face-popculture-jokes that only the _________ Movie audience will laugh about, but the description of this project sounds very interesting. (And doesn't matter what you think about Robot Chicken, the animation is great!)

    It's all in the execution

    by frodofraggins

Robot Chicken rarely turns the interesting sketch ideas into laughs for me. I doubt I'll bother with the new show unless there's great word of mouth.

    Does Tartakovsky know about this?

    by grimjon

Didn't CN announce ANOTHER "teenagers piloting Giant Robots series," from Genndy Tartakovsky, with a remarkably similar name? Are they now parodying shows in realtime?

    Could be funny

    by manicfanatic

I think robot chicken has jumped the shark by now, but I genuinely like the team behind it even if Entourage wants me to think Seth Green is the biggest asshole in the business.

Robot Chicken hasn't been funny in year.

    by rbatty024

They had about a year and a half of goo material, but since then it has been pretty mediocre. It's a shame too since there were a lot of possibilities.

    RUT CHICKEN

    by thusspakespymunk

The problem with the show is that they do ONE gag now - "What if that one cartoon charaacter pooped and then killed EVERYBODY in the supporting cast?" No cleverness.

    Awesome idea for a series

    by darkartist

My only gripe about the premise with the show is that it's stop motion animation. I would love to see stupid teenagers in charge of a giant death machine in live action, and given the intentional no-budget style that Matt Holness & Richard Ayoade brought to Garth Marenghi's Dark Place.

Remember when Robot Chicken was funny?

    by smokingrobot

That was a long time ago.

Will this show have lots of anal sex jokes? Seth Green just loves those. They are the epitomoy of humor to him.

oh yes...i remember that one, i didnt follow it but saw a handful of episodes and it was pretty cool. it bugged me that the robot's head was just their car but otherwise...très cool.

Are you sure it's ALL stop motion?

    by domi'sinnerchild

Seems like it would be more cost effective to just do the wacky special effects stop motion and the rest live action.

    Thunderbirds/Team America style marionettes?

    by cenobite

that would be a quicker solution than stop animation.

    Hopefully...

    by maelstrom_zero

...they answer the question of who actually pays for all that property damage. I mean, think about it--every week, these random giant monsters show up and pretty much level an entire city, amidst hot-steel sparks. Sure, the Power Rangers kill the monster, but who's going to pay for all the ensuing property damage?

Robot Chicken formula in 3 easy steps

    by darth pants

    • Take film/cartoon characters from the 70s or 80s
    • Have said characters kill/fuck/take a shit
    • Sandwich show between Family Guy reruns and two Awesome talentless hacks doing shit in front of a green screen for 15 minutes.

As bad idea as a Cleveland spin off from Family Guy

    by finky089

Either just concentrate ondoing one show really well (I haven't watched fresh "Robot" in a year or more) or do a second show that is differnt. but this is just dilution of brand. And it's territory that has been covered enough and decently well already.

    Bad idea. As bad as...

    by jethrobodine

You know how Saturday Night Live has an idea, or a character that's funny for one or two skits, but then SNL makes them into a whole movie that really really really sucks, so much so that you end up hating the original skit that you liked so well because the movie was THAT bad, well this is one of those ideas. This should be a skit on Robot Chicken, a recurring skit that when it comes on is really really good. Like how The Carol Burnett had a "Momma's Family" skit that they occasionally did. It used to have teeth and real humor. But a series was made and it was 100% vomit. But I digress check out these titles if you think that I'm mistaken, The Ladies Man, A Night at the Roxbury, It's Pat!, Coneheads, Superstar, Stuart Saves His Family. There, I've said my piece.

This sounds fairly interesting, the reality of a "power rangers" type of situation has ltos of potential for hilarity. Oh wait, I'm sorry, this talkback hasn't reached it's quota of meganerd bitch-rants; here I'll contribute: What a bad idea blah blah blah, Robot Chicken is stale yada yada yada derivative bullshit and so on and so forth.
