ScoreKeeper Points You Towards Some Cool Photos From STAR TREK Scoring Sessions!!

Published at:  Apr 30, 2009 9:35:58 AM CDT

Greetings! ScoreKeeper here bringing you another scoring session keyhole in which to peep.

I'm a big admirer of Dan Goldwasser's photographic expeditions through the world of film score recording sessions. Not only does his photography capture the subtle nuances of these rarely seen or attended experiences but it also constructs a visual representation of an almost exclusively aural universe.

I've posted links to several of Dan's photographic excursions in the past but I find myself particularly captivated by these new photos from Michael Giacchino's scoring session for STAR TREK (2009) held at Sony. Oh, to be a fly on the wall at this session!

It's difficult to fathom all the phenomenal music the walls of that studio has absorbed over the years. Now, STAR TREK is a part of that legacy.

Enjoy!

.. thought they were cool when they first release them before they could show the photos. From what I've heard of the score sounds pretty good. Still ... STII is the one to beat IMHO

The Motion Picture is the one to beat. It had one of the greatest Star Trek scores of all time.

    .. TMP

    by franxious

It's a close second. I just find TMP a bit overused these days and TWOK more ... uplifting ... I think my love of TWOK comes from the days where I had the audio track to TWOK recorded on a C90 from the headphone socket on a portable TV and used to play it on my Walkman all the time ( including cheesy ITV adverts )

    Its only overused

    by falcon5768

Thanks to TNG. But once you get past the TMP/TNG fanfare and get to the meat of the score with V'ger it a whole different ballgame.

Grauman's Chinese has three webcams that are always there, and they send out images every couple minutes or so. They're setting up the stands as I send this. Here's the URL: http://tinyurl.com/yabhs5

Are you serious about those photographs

    by d o o d

Cause Photographically and Artistically they're shit. A small child with a disposable camera could've done better. What a wasted opportunity!
