‘My Name Is Jack Bauer!!’ 24 7.20!!

Published at:  Apr 27, 2009 4:42:00 AM CDT

SPOILER ALERT !!

I am – Hercules!!

Jack looks strangely healthy in that clip. Could Kim have already forked over some Spinach-y stem cells so he’s strong to the finish?

I’m reminded that “24” closed down for nearly a month to reshape these final six episodes. Is the new direction successful?

Fox says:

The nation remains vulnerable as Starkwood mastermind Jonas Hodges (guest star Jon Voight) remains at the epicenter of the mounting terrorist threat. Meanwhile, the FBI and the administration scramble to provide security and justice, and Jack Bauer questions a key suspect.

9 p.m. Monday. Fox.

    by backwardgalaxy

This season has been terribly far-fetched, and not in a fun way. Experimental stem cell treatment? The threat that ALWAYS seems to be over until someone says "this was just the tip of the iceberg". At a certain point in time it gets to where enough is enough.

24 on target to being one of the top seasons ever

    by wcme

An AWESOME season by any standards; and actual light years above the retched last season with his Dad. Rack, Larry, and a host of old school favorites such as Kim, Mr and Mrs O'Brien; Special agent of S.H.I.E.L.D and so many awesome moments like White House Attack; jack literally drops a house on an attacker and then throws a long handle screwdriver THROUGH KEVLAR directly into his heart and then uses the same screwdriver to start the car -- its always awesome on 24. TONY being the real bad guy is the single most awesome twist in the final hours since NINA was revealed to be the mole in season 1. This season is too good for tv. I await the last hours of ticking clock!!!!! (I hope the same 3 people who commented on HEROES last week enjoy themselves on whats widely reported as a yet another crash and burn Heroes finale.)

Awesome villains: Tony and the guy who vaguely resembles 50 Cent, Dubaku, bad Secret Service guy who got chokeslammed off the 2nd floor through a table by a the First Gentleman, JOHN "scenery chewing" VOIGHT, Tony "Candy Man" Todd as General Juma, "Big Pimpin" Dubaku, and Quentin (ooh... he's good!).
The many scenes of Rack Bauer running have been icing on a delicious cake.

    Tony's plan

    by lloytron

    Tony is a genius. His plan is totally inspired. His objective as we now know was to get hold of a canister of CJD to use for nefarious gain. So in order to do that he;
    1) He teams up with Bill and Chloe and convinces them to be uber underground CTU
    2) Kidnaps the one and only guy that can create a device that can hack through governement firewalls
    3) Uses this as a way to get in with General Dubaku
    4) He anticipated that Jack would be released from the legal proceedings he was involved in to help out and save the day
    5) He let himself get captured so that he could recruit Jack
    6) Jack defeats Dubaku and Tony goes and hangs out in a coffee shop for an episode or two
    7) Knowing that Jack will somehow work out that Starkwood are involved, and are smuggling in CJD Tony enjoys his cuppa joe
    8) He waits for his phone call from Jack, who is in trouble and needs help again
    9) He goes to help, storms the base, gets captured, gets released, kills Larry and then meets the mole he placed in the team that he knew would be storming the base.
    10) Deceiving everyone yet again he saves the mole and gets captured by Jack.
And this was his plan all along? The guy is a genius for it to have all fallen in to place, and all in one day too :D

(and yes, I know I got a lot of stuff wrong. But you get my point. And if you don't get my point, I don't care :P)

    by tangcameo

That's my prediction for the end of this season. To fight the virus that's killing him, the doctors suggest he go comatose for an extended time to possibly be cured. That closes off this season and then when next season happens and whatever terrorist threat occurs, we'll hear/see Cherry Jones say, "Someone go wake up Jack Bauer". Jack wakes up to a very different world next season.

    by catvutt

He's out to expose this MASSIVE consipiracy of people he hasn't been able to identify, and now he's gotten them to agree to blow their whole wad with a SINGLE canister instead of the whole shitload. He did what Jack would've done. Looked at the larger picture. He HAD to get to these people or they would've gone underground. Jack put a bullet in Chapelle's head. He would've killed Chase. This is no different. Watch.

I was thinking the same thing and I think its more than feasible. In fact, I think that is exactly what happens. Tony says you never leave a enemy fallen and finish him off - well, he didn't finish off Jack even though he could not have done it at that spot and Jack is dying anyway. But why would Tony let Jack know for 100% that he was 'bad guy'

    by bunksteve

Maybe it's dumb to bring this up, since 24 is pretty much a political show, but do we have to drag politics into the discussion of the show? I mean... It's bad enough we have reporters on TV calling the president a fascist and people like Glen Beck have become the voice of "reason" in this country (Yes, I'm a liberal, sue me), but if I can watch the show and not wonder which political party the writers belong to, why is it so fucking hard for y'all to do it? I mean, seriously... It's like claiming that "Bambi" wasn't a movie about a motherless deer finding friends in the world, and was in fact a liberal piece of anti-logging company propaganda. Oh, and It's A Wonderful Life is a piece of anti-capitalism smut, not just a feel-good movie we watch every Christmas.

holy fuck hearing jack curse out that bitch in the name of david palmer was the most gratifying thing i have seen in my lifetime. I can see Palmer watching that shit from heaven with a smile on his face. i also got a chill when the old ass CTU software came online. that shit gotta be old as fuck now!! niggas fighting crime with windows 95. Cobra with shitty wack AOL Chatrooms and GIJOE with shitty wack cobweb servers. WTF @ this retro digital shit!! is this some circular time logic, we must go to the past to get to the future shit?

trick ass olivia. whiny BITCH! crybaby president! i hate the idea of a new sherry that is a whiny bitch who only got their because of her mother. at least sherry helped make david. olivia is out of control and everyone sees it, that little dude with the president thru her ass THE LOOK.

hahahah @ the new field agent dude, Agent Rogaine. this fuckers hair game is friggen Waaaaaaaack!!! nigga need that hairclub for men STAT!

oh i forgot to mention, since today was bauer day, i walked around doin the Tony whisper flow whereever I went, and it was all I could do to keep from cracking the fuck up. I went and got some chicken, and Im all whispering loudly "yea i want the rotisserie chicken and roast potatoes, quick!" and dude looks confused and said "WAT...can u repeat that?" i fucking grinned and broke character and stated that shit again in normal voice. omg i think all of you should try it at least once tomorrow.

i like how jack brought chloe down to FBI to tell her about tony face to face. that way he could tell if she was full of shit or not. the way janice is freaking out makes me think that yea, she is also a mole on some high level shit. bitch talking about the bill of rights and acting stuck up but naaah she might be on some OTHER shit. then again maybe she isnt.

LOL@ this new side plot to kill hodges while in FBI custody. like they gotta do it NOW, and the bitch cant wait til he is on his ranch. HAHA at the worst time possible.

ALSO, HODGES NEVER SAW ANYTHING FROM THE PRESIDENT! he talked to jack FREELY he didnt sign shit, said everything he knows. so....WHY are they giving him anything? unless he is gonna say MORE, which he cant, then i dont get that. plot hole IMO.

poor fucking aaron. in over his head. from one old daft bitch to a young one. but i guess he likes this shit. the fuck else would he be doing, jacking off to bangbus movies and watching baseball games. like i said before he needs his own series of old people books immediately. would be a big hit with senior citizens, and in the movies they can have harrison ford play him

we still dont know tony's end game here. he obviously isnt in Cobra, so is he trying to audition for them? maybe even let them attack in order to get in on their shit? why nnot just twist this bitch's arm and get all the info?

ahahah i KNEW they wanted all the cannisters and had to settle for this one tho. so far my tony theory is mostly on point. i still want to hope he is doing what he believes is the right thing with taking down the company at any cost, even if it means being a super bad guy to do it.

ALSO, HODGES NEVER SAW ANYTHING FROM THE PRESIDENT! he talked to jack FREELY he didnt sign shit, said everything he knows. so....WHY are they giving him anything? unless he is gonna say MORE, which he cant, then i dont get that. plot hole IMO. poor fucking aaron. in over his head. from one old daft bitch to a young one. but i guess he likes this shit. the fuck else would he be doing, jacking off to bangbus movies and watching baseball games. like i said before he needs his own series of old people books immediately. would be a big hit with senior citizens, and in the movies they can have harrison ford play him we still dont know tony's end game here. he obviously isnt in Cobra, so is he trying to audition for them? maybe even let them attack in order to get in on their shit? why nnot just twist this bitch's arm and get all the info? ahahah i KNEW they wanted all the cannisters and had to settle for this one tho. so far my tony theory is mostly on point. i still want to hope he is doing what he believes is the right thing with taking down the company at any cost, even if it means being a super bad guy to do it. how many eps we got left? 3 or 4?

Tony is an uber-Jack - Hodges is a future Jack

    by squarebird

And I think that was the price J. Garofola obtained in exchanged for her appearance in this show (an appearance that is money in the bank for 24 as it attracts the stunned and curious from all ends of the political spectrum). Tony as uber-Jack meaning that yes, he clearly will be revealed as having done these dastardly deeds in order to be trusted by the secret cabal. He may have been working with Bill on this. The importance of the 'greater good' ends over the dastardly means was obvious when he tried to dissuade Jack from saving that Guard a few eps back. He represents giving up one's soul to save the masses. Hodges shows Jack (well, the viewer) where Jack's morality can ultimately lead. The price J Garofala extracted was to recast the whole idea of Jack and CTU as that of Gandalf trying to use the One Ring for the greater good. Well, that and the 'Climate Change' ads that some of the cast now participates in .. All in all, it may be worth it for me, just to get to enjoy watching Jack scream in Garafola's face what many of us have dreamed of doing.

    and about tonys motives

    by blackjackbauer

i have posted this april 14th but here:
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0285331/board/flat/135541430?p=1

    lets go over it logically.

first assumption. tony has always wanted the bio weapon. Either when he was with Bill, or before, his motives were to secure it at any cost. For what, we dont know. We have to assume he couldnt follow thru on this with his own crew, and decided to use Bill and Chloe for intel since they were good CTU peeps.

So Jack finds out his "cover" but not his real cover, which is why Tony ended up letting Emerson live, off camera, so Emerson could go find out more details.

So Emerson or Eddie Winslow contacts Tony to let him know where the shipment will be coming in, but he needs to be able to secure it himself, so he uses Jack to go after it.

when jack and tony were together, tony didnt know he would get caught. he would have been okay with letting the security guy die and then taking the truck with jack, and having to either kill jack or kick him out the truck when he got them.

but jack threw a wrinkle in those plans and tony had to rely on his starkwood mole, eddie winslow. so at some point he contacts him and tells him that its up to him. since now they cant get the entire truck, he wants winslow to just smuggle a cannister or two out.

ok, so Tony definitely wants starkwoods bio weapons destroyed at this point since he cant get all of them. he doesnt want someone else to do damage to the country, because he has his own motives. So he wants the FBI to destory them. at this point, we have to assume Eddie Winslow already has pulled out one of the cannisters on his own and is looking for a way to get off base with it, and that Tony knows this.

So the weapons are destroyed and Winslow is quietly sneaking out when he gets detected. Tony is supposed to be out of the loop, and even if he was, Winslow still escapes.

So Tony's motives of getting control of the cannisters himself still holds up throughout the show. if he didnt have all of them, he at least needed a sample. the ends justified the means

    Although

    by squarebird

One hole in my argument is that I still am not sure why Tony found it necessary to kill Moses. Actually, it may make even less sense if he is Bad - as the motivation of the FBI to get him would jump off the charts.

Tony's plotline has jumped the shark

    by gornpirate

He was the only agent left on the ground at Hodge's complex. Why would he destroy the missles and prevent a large attack just in order to steal some of the agent and carry out a smaller attack for the same group Hodges was involved in? And why does he need a patsy, the Arab guy,to take the blame for the next attack when the Feds already know Tony and his new Girlfriend are involved?

That said, as much as I find this show an improvement over other years of 24, have enjoyed the cohesive plot with Starkwood, Renee, Evil Tony, etc. it is still a heavily right wing j/o fantasy: Yelling at Janeane Garofalo, torture immediately excused, lots of strawman arguments, and now more homophobia, just like William Devane casually tortured his gay hippie (a twofer) son in Season 4.

by guy who got a headache and accidentally

Don't give me that "what do you expect it's a tv show" horseshit. Season 1 was practically on par with Sopranos, Deadwood and the Wire. Easy to forget now but it's true. Maybe CSI is more your speed but those shows never had to insult your intelligence to be entertaining. How many times are we going to hear "right now he's our only lead" or "you think it's over with me but it's not" etc. Christ, just how stupid are these writers. They literally cannot write anything else but the same shit over and over again. This used to be the show where anything could happen, no punches were pulled, but it's just a joke now. A literal honest to god parody of itself. As long as this show isn't exciting or unpredictable it's as good as dead, and it hasn't been either for a long while. They either need to give up the 24 hour gimmick or abandon this old ass fucking plot formula they've been using since the show started. They also need to stop making halfass attempts at "changing things up" which never amount to shit. Every fucking year they say, "oh this time it's more personal this season. We made it more personal because you can't just keep making the threats bigger." But damned if they sure don't keep trying, and the show plainly suffers for it every time.

    Jericho had Sprague Graydon

    So...

    by raymond shaw

So... the secret puppetmasters wanted to kill Hodges because he was a loose cannon and was going to use a massive attack with the pathogen to destabilize the government. Tony, despite believing that such an attack should take place now (not in 6 months) while one's opponent is down, destroys all the pathogen except for 1 canister. So now the puppetmasters all switch to Tony's way of thinking and decide on an immediate
attack but now with 1 canister instead of 28. That is, they decide Hodges had the right idea after a 5 minute phone conversation but now they've lost most of the pathogen along with a way of delivering it.

    Tony

    by jiggity11

There is something to keep in mind when considering whether or not Tony is a villain...

The 24 writers spent a long time this season building up the idea that some things are necessary for the greater good (torture). Things change so quickly in 24 that it's hard to even recall how much time was spent on this, but it was a HUGE theme early in the season.

After a long writer's strike, it is very possible that the 24 writers re-evaluated the first half of the season and decided to use this theme to make Tony the biggest villain/hero of all. Tony could truly be doing 'whatever is necessary'.

If this does turn out to be the case, then I think that this could be one of the best 24 seasons that we've ever seen. A conclusion based on Tony being good would fit perfectly.

Think about it: The season starts with Jack being questioned by the senate about the awful things that he has had to do to protect his country. What better way to end it than with the Tony plot.

If Tony really is just another bad guy with a bio-weapon then it really seems like a wasted opportunity and weak writing, which I wouldn't put past the 24 writers... We'll have to see.

Tony's can't have a Plan, he must in play to fight fires

    by chromedome

They said the plan was for Starkwood to deliver all the canisters for a plan 6 months out. So Tony did NOT have a plan from the beginning to do all this stuff to get one canister. He must be in play just to react to and work whatever problems come up. When JonASS Hodges went for missile launches, Tony HAD to stop that, and somehow save some bioagent for the original plan. His ability to do all this is already implausible in the extreme, but for it to have been his precise plan from the get-go is simply not possible. There is still a remote chance that Tony is trying to get to the Anonymous Group, still a "good guy" but if so, he has exceeded all of Jack's ruthless acts combined. Also, not plausible.

    Events in chronological order...

    by whatcokes982

I'm trying to sort the events of the day in my head in a logical fashion. I really hope TPTB give us an overall explanation regarding what was and was not supposed to happen.

Ok... The Group plans to destabilize the country by triggering attacks all across the U.S. and blaming them on Middle Eastern terrorists. The country would fall into chaos, and they would step in to clean up the mess.

In order to achieve this goal, they align themselves w/ the villainous Juma regime in Africa. They offer Juma intelligence and man power in exchange for using Sangala as a testing ground for this bio-weapon. It's a false alliance, in the sense that The Group consider themselves patriots, and they actually don't want Juma in power. They strategically place Tony into the operation so that they can manipulate and sabotage Dubaku and Juma's plans. Tony then recruits Blll and Chloe to help him w/ this sabotage, while leaving them in the dark about the overall plan. The Group doesn't want Juma's attacks to succeed because they can't contain the fallout, and having Juma in power is bad for the U.S. Like I said, they're patriots.

So... they basically stroke Juma's ego until the shipment of bio-weapons arrives. In their own twisted way, they actually helped bring about the fall of the Juma regime.

That's when the plan goes haywire thanks to Jonas Hodges. Hodges acquires the bio-weapon for himself, and he catches The Group off guard by going rogue and blackmailing the government with it. This flies in the face of The Group's plan because any alliance the U.S. makes w/ Starkwood would be tenuous at best. They want a seat at the table, but they want it to look legitimate. Hodges' deal would require them to constantly be blackmailing the U.S. They would never gain the trust of the American people. So... then Tony, with the help of the FBI, infiltrates Starkwood and reacquires the bio-weapon for The Group.

    Tony "good"

    by darthcorleone

Shooting dead two FBI agents point-blank is not "good." Jack breaks the rules, but he has always tried to protect innocents and bystanders when it does not directly interfere with his mission. Maybe it will be revealed that Tony is operating under some sort of "greater good" worldview just like Hodges was and just like I assume this new evil consortium imagines it does. But is that motive really that much of a revelation? Do you consider Hodges or that consortium "good guys?" C'mon - that's ridiculous! If they're going to make Tony evil, it's much more narratively satisfying (to me, at least) to make this more about Michelle and not turning Tony into some sort of "uber-Jack." It has a nice symmetry with Jack's loss of Teri, and it is consistent with Tony's arc in seasons three and four.

    Tony good

    by jiggity11

Tony's motive could be to bring this new evil consortium down, and in the world of 24 his actions may be justified.

The point that I was trying to make is that it would fit the overlying theme of this season very well. They spent a lot of time this season having Jack justify his actions and his methods of getting the job done. Many of the people who criticized Jack were put into situations this season whereby they too had to consider his methods as a necessary evil (Renee torturing people in the hospital, the president having mixed emotions about torture). Maybe the 24 writers want to push those ideas as far as they can be pushed with the Tony storyline. Maybe not...

    jack's extremes versus tony's

    by dradis contact

When Jack absolutely has to commandeer a car, he does it by viciously pointing a gun at the occupant, or just stealing an empty one. Tony just killed the agents. This is significantly different.
And the treatment of Hodges as a loose cannon who disrupted the group's plan makes Tony's actions at Starkwood more believable. However, he would have just killed people in his way there too. It's a little sloppy.

I'm not sure why Tony didn't kill Jack at the dock

    by chrth

If Tony kills Jack, no one ever finds out the bioweapons have come into the US (or if they do find out, they won't know the destination). Even if Hodges then proceeds with his threat, Tony could acquire one or more of the canisters via the exact same method. It doesn't make sense.

Hmm... not sure. That could be a big plothole. Maybe Tony wanted to see how things played out, and if he needed to kill Jack, he would have. Killing Jack may have been a last resort, though, considering how much Jack and Tony have been through together. Even if Tony is bad to the bone, there's still gotta be some sort of residual feelings there. Also, Jack didn't exactly do what Tony expected him to: he saved the Port Authority cop and forced them into a huge firefight. That couldn't have been part of Tony's plan. Eh...I'll wait until the end of the season to judge Tony's previous actions, 'cause I still don't think we have all of the information. If by episode 24, we're still asking these questions, then that's a major FAIL on the show's part.

My opinion is that Tony's plot line twists for twist's sake

    by chromedome

Tony's bad, no he's good, no he's bad again....I hope to be surprised, but so far this seems to be a stupid turn and a bad way to finish what had been a good storyline this season.

Hodges went off the reservation, Tony had to stop him

    by tallboy66

Hodges and Dubaku were blowing shit up too early for The Group's liking. Obviously, Hodges didn't know that Tony was involved with them (what with the computer-only meetings and stuff). So The Group sends in Tony to stop the mess, work with Jack/the FBI/ Chole & Bill to stop Hodges' attacks which weren't sanctioned by the group (they wanted to do it 6 months later on multiple cities and targets). Tony was supposed to get a sample of the nerve gas to start again, this time without Hodges. So his motivations make sense that way. Tony's evil, and it's a more dramatic payoff that way.

Well, everything in 24 twists for twist's sake. But... I really do believe they planned on making Tony bad all along. Whether the storyline makes any sense... well that's something the 24 writers have always struggled with. For all those season 1 lovers, go back and map out the trajectory of that season. It's even more convoluted and ridiculous than this one.

THERE'S NO TIME!!!! GIVE ME THE NAME!!!! WHERE IS THE BOMB?!?!? WHO SENT YOU?!?!?! .... Shitfaced after 5 minutes. By the way, Season 5 is the best storyline that 24 has ever, or will ever, come up with. They shoulda quit on top.

yall have it wrong about Tony

    by blackjackbauer

Michelle was his life. After Robocop saved Tonys life, Tony immediately starting thinking about how to get at who was ultimately responsible for her death. Robocop? nah, too small. Logan? President of the US, but still too small. He knew there was some other shit at work. So he went to work with Emerson for while as a bad guy henchman. He was able to hear about shit going down, staying close to all of it. He eventually contacted Bill and Chloe to form the Cubscout team, because he wouldnt be able to do it alone. He fed them the story about it JUST being about saving the america people, when in reality Tony wants to fuck them up for much more personal reasons. So when he gets found out by GI JOE, he has to side with them as well to make the mission go down smooth. Still, he knows that if he can pull off this bioweapon shit he will be THAT much closer to the people in charge, which is all he wants. He doesnt want to kill innocent people, if u see he never kills an innocent himself, only terrorists or government workers. He even sabotaged Hodges plan because he didnt want millions of americans dead. he just wants the Lotto Ball Group, so he can take them down one by one. He is Ultra Personal Revenge Jack, while Hodges is Ultra Patriotic Jack. they are both showing him how far he could go, and he sees that he doesnt want to be anything like them. As for the Lotto Ball Group, they used Count Dubaku's sangala spot for a training group in exchange for weapons money etc etc. So the Dark Sith Lord was like fuck that, I got a Deathstar in exchange, via the CIP device, and Im gonna use that shit like crazy. that was only suppposed to be a diversion really, a temporary way to give Darth Dubaku a way to excert some wack control on "Madame" President while the LBG was sneaking out the shipment of bioweapons. shit went fucked up when hodges made his power play, tony had to adjust, called in his inside man Evil Curtis to secure a cannister for him, and here we are. Tony wants to finish this now, and get into the overall Cobra system's good graces so he can take down the Lotto ball fuckers himself. he has even been fucking the baroness on the side, giving her that CTU trained dick so she is all emotionally and listens to everythng he says. the "twist" makes sense, because this is HIS revenge story. he cant tell jack because he knows jack wont go as far as he is willing to go, and if he told jack and he wasnt down, he knows he would have had to killed him. cant tell FBI cuz fuck they are probably compromised too. he is playing both sides of the coin as a go getter for HIMSELF. Tony Cubby Almeida may be the countrys biggest captain of his dead ass wife, but he is still ILL AS FUCK! while tony does for self, jack does for his country. main difference. twist makes sense.

    President Palmer question?

    by v'shael

When I was watching that conference call of the big-bads, there was one point where I thought I heard Palmers voice. Then later in the episode, Jack makes a verbal call back to Palmer.

Anyone know if they're planning another zombie back-the-dead comeback?

Tony plays the grey area better than Jack

    by chutch

and i bet the tragedy of the season becomes Jack killing Tony only to find out Tony pushed the whole thing so that the secret organization couldn't go into hiding for another 6 months. But it doesn't matter, the best moment of the season already happened when Jack told that ugly liberal cunt bag to shut the fuck up or hit the road. It made having that bitch on the show this season worth it.

Tony is still a good guy

    by estacado1

He can't let Jack get involved because what he is going to do will require the deaths of a lot of innocent people. A lot more than usual, including FBI. That is what needs to happen if Tony is ever going to find out who the bad guys are. Jack would never go for that.

If you're right about Tony's plan...

    by darthcorleone

...then - I'm sorry - it's simply idiotic. There must be a myriad of ways to track down the identities of the members of an evil consortium without actually resorting to killing thousands of innocent Americans, especially if they are going to lie low and plan to resurface in six months. Why stoke the fire? Ever heard of good old-fashioned detective work? Think Chloe might be able to find a way to trace them through that anonymous conference? Or just torture the woman who gave Hodges the pill; she obviously knows at least one member of the group personally. I understand the narrative significance of making Tony go further than Jack ever would for the "greater good," but if Tony is not evil, 24 has reached new cougar-esque heights of stupidity.

    Darth...tony doesnt kill civilians

    by blackjackbauer

it was a mistake to have dubaku still with the CIP device to crash the two planes, he didnt let hodges launch the missles, and he wont really let them attack with the lone capsule this season. he is pushing that agenda to get in touch with them. at least think and read what ive already said 100 times before u type about stuff being idiotic. it makes perfect sense.

    Tony

    by squarebird

is actually Sylar - but he does not know that himself, since his mind-wipe and reboot with Tony's memories. I think that the original Tony would not have gone to these immoral means to achieve his moral end - but the residual Sylar still has influence. Not enough influence to alter his heroic goals, but enough to dull his day-to-day moral judgement.

    optimus, of course

    by blackjackbauer

he kills FBI agents. they are a part of the system that is the problem. anyone connected with it goes down. Jack was ready to kill chase in season 3, he created a prison break which resulted in deaths, he killed chappelle, he killed curtis, anyone who was in his way, it was just presented in a sympathetic way. tony is doin the same on a larger scale, whats the difference? 1 life or 20 or 200 is nothing in comparison to saving a country. thats at least the argument. Tony believes what he is doing is the right thing.
