Hercules Has Seen
The Third-Season
Finale Of HEROES!!

I am – Hercules!!
Monday brings the third disappointing season finale out of three for “Heroes.” Series mastermind Tim Kring’s script is a drab, sloppy, illogical bore. I hope for the sake of the series’ plummeting ratings that newly returned writer-producer Bryan Fuller is promoted to showrunner next season and NBC gives Kring something else to do. I don’t think Kring’s heart is in it anymore. NBC says:
Nathan (Adrian Pasdar) faces off against Sylar (Zachary Quinto) to keep him from meeting the President (guest star Michael Dorn). Sylar has his own plans for his new partner. Meanwhile, Hiro (Masi Oka) learns that there are repercussions to regaining his ability. Elsewhere, Matt (Greg Grunberg) is forced to go to extraordinary lengths to protect his future with his family.
It starts with Mohinder narrating: “There are nearly seven billion people on this planet. Each one unique, different. What are the chances of that? And why? Is it simply biology? Physiology that determines this diversity? A collection of thoughts, memories, experiences that carve out our own special place?” Noah hits a roadblock. Sylar pulls the Hunter’s knife out of his skull and restates his intention to replace the president. Hiro starts bleeding out of more orifices. A major character dies, but I can’t figure out why no one remembers Claire’s blood brought daddy Noah back from the dead in season two. She’s standing right there! Sylar has one amusing line, “Everybody needs a hobby,” but the fun in this one is generally too hard to find. Better luck next season. I hope it’s not its last. 9 p.m. Monday. NBC. The Boston Herald gives it a “D” and says:
… In the third-season finale of the NBC sci-fi drama, the good guys band together to take down villainous Sylar (Zachary Quinto). That was the premise of the first season finale. There are differences, of course. In the first season, the heroes united to stop Sylar from destroying the world. Now they want to prevent him from meeting the president. … This has been an awfully tough review, but so let me close this by saying something nice about “Heroes.” It makes “Deal or No Deal” look brilliant.
SouthCoast Today says:
… Written by series executive producer and creator Tim Kring, the episode offers some interesting resolutions and departures for key characters. Short of definite word on the fate of "Heroes," this could work as either a great chapter ender or a murky series finale. …
The Deseret News says:
… It's a fine episode that gives "Heroes" six good hours in a row. That is darn good for a show that appeared incapable of giving us even one good episode, period. …
9 p.m. Monday. NBC.
