Cool News
THE FIGHTER is picking up steam yet again!
Hey folks, Harry here with the rather cool news that the film THE FIGHTER, which was once set to be helmed by Darren Aronofsky and was going to star Mark Wahlberg and Brad Pitt... before everything began to fall apart - giving way to Darren leaving that project to helm THE WRESTLER instead.
I didn't think we'd end up seeing THE FIGHTER get back into fighting, much less shooting shape, but according to Variety - it seems that Relativity Media has come in - and put the film together. Mark Wahlberg has continued to train for this part during its hiatus - and is still attached to play the titular character. Joining him ringside will be Christian Bale - and behind the camera calling the shots will be two time Wahlberg directing genius, David O Russell. This is definitely a film to keep our eyes on. It looks like it is shaping up to be something special!

It's a likelihood. My money's on Bale.
-
Get it? Because he's all confrontational and shit? DO YOU GET THE JOKE.
-
they were at roach's gym together watching manny spar. bale v o mental will be funny if it kicks off
-
I mean...I'm drunk, so I don't know...but you know...
YES!!!!!!!!!! -
I know that I have $50 on Pacquiao...other than that I have to plead "nerd"...
anyone else? am I the only normal person here in the talkbacks? -
what you are intimating
-
I guess?
-
Who's your pick?
-
I got $1000 says Bale trashes the lights by TKO in the 3rd round..
-
also in production is the brett ratner/carlos mencia pic "the hack"
-
this movie does sound fucking cool, hopefully wahlberg can rebound from the absolute mess that was "the happening". bale and russell have serious credibility in my book, even though they can both kinda be dicks on movie sets. still, i was way more offended by "the happening" than either of their rants.
-
He's gonna get a fucking crash course in professionalism.
-
How about I walk over there and trash your movie? You fucking AMATURE!
*Oh, and Marky-Mark in a serious roll? C'mon man. Really? That dude couldn't act his way out of a fucking paper bag. -
Let's see how quickly this production falls apart under his leadership this time.
-
Right after the FREAKOUT competition.
-
And its not like he's Daniel Day Lewis, where he's a different person in every movie. Most times, he's playing Christian Bale. Kind of like Denzel Washington, he has one very watchable character that he adapts to different scripts. You need to be careful not to overdo it.
-
But I'm excited to see the end product. Wahlberg walks the line of engaging and bland as all hell. So I hope Russell can bring it out of him again.

FUCKING PROFESSIONAL
-
...BRAVEHEART?
-
Is a psycho who scuttles his own films before they even get finished, which is why, even if they're good, no one ever sees them. I hear nothing but crazy things about him. I love his flicks though, no doubt. I'm sure im in a heavy minority, but I think Huckabees is one of the absolute funniest movies I've ever seen.
-
If you want a return, that is.
-
For he is the chosen one.
-
Fuck - Bumped back down to amatuer status.
In my defense, THEY WERE TRASHING MY FUCKING SCENE!!! -
Mark Wahlberg, 5'5" and 170lbs vs Christian Bale at 6'1" and 210lbs... This is going to be realistic..
-
Behave.
-
Let's hope he sticks his finger in Bale's chest.
-
Holy shit. I don't think so. Prepare for total fucking destrucion my friends.

This film is about former welterweight "Irish" Micky Ward. Though Micky was never regarded as the greatest fighter, he was known for his show of heart in the ring and his incredible left hook to the body that could turn the tide of any fight.
From what I know, Mark plays Micky, Bale is to play Mick's half-brother and trainer Dicky Ecklund (who was a welterweight hopeful that fought Sugar Ray Leonard).
Dicky got hooked on drugs and is currently being charged with beating a man to death.
Search YouTube for some of Micky's fights... pretty inspiring. He was a bad ass in terms of being able to take punishment and keep fighting.
There are tons of videos of Micky on Youtube... I suggest checking them out.
Dicky Ecklund can be seen in the documentary "High on Crack Street". -
The way he screamed at Lily Tomlin was out of order.
He's an asshole. -
And seriously, the jokes about Bale and Russell on set together are just too easy.
-
Seriously, 1 great movie and kablooie
-
I've just gone from being keenly interested in this film to having no interest at all. I can't stand David O Russell.
-
Wow that sounds like a bizarre combination... David O. "Anger-management" Russell, Marky Mark "the-wtf-stare" Whalberg and Christian "I'll-probably-eat-David's-liver-on-this-film" Bale. Can't wait for this shit to get in to production, Imagine I can already see a on set three-way fist fight between these guys.

denzel comparison. he's much more varied than denzel.
-
He's never made a great film. He's made a decent one (Three Kings), but never a great one. I Heart Huckabees was alright, but it made me wish I was watching a Charlie Kaufman movie instead.

Stuntcock Mike, Abominable Snowcone, DANNYGLOVERS DICKBLOOD, Mr. Twist, The Brains, Spud McSpud, Prossor, Ironic Name, Cobra Kai, a resurrected Kurzinski Valentine, BringingSexyBack, Thunderbolt Ross, Col. Iread your post on maximum stuntcock, it seems your dreams come true. Be prepared for the foie douche!
-
Uh, no, we can't. Because Clooney will never work with asshOle Russell again. And for you Marky Mark haters, he was da bomb in The Departed. So suck it! Come on come on...Yeah yeah!!
-
That was ace. As was Flirting With Disater and Three Kings. I Heart Huckabees was not bad, but seemed like a weaker Michele Gaundry type film. Although it was still pretty awesome. I like O'Russell, and look forward to this!
-
Will go down as the fight of the century, book it...
-
T4 extravaganza. I smell at least 3 and as many as 7 Balebacks occuring at once. Prepare.
-
I didn't even know about this movie 'till a few days ago. Bale is all around us. Like a crystal shield.
-
...by Craig Davidson. It isn't. It's the Micky Ward story. I'd be psyched about this if I didn't know that Marky Mark was playing Ward...
-
oh, wait...nevermind
-
Walberg was the bomb in The Departed.
-
Screw this!

Sam Jackson needs to be in this movie as Bale's trainer.
-
just my 2 cents
-
walked by a theater in NY tonight, ticker said "Fighter" premier. (14th st. Union Square)
had no idea what it was talking about.
-
Yeah I also wondered what the commotion was about at union sq. today, but that was for "Fighting", with Terrange Howard and Cnanning Tatum
-
Well FUCK YOU TOO, YOU AMATEUR!
-
That was very amateurish of me. I will make it up by saying 10 Hail Bales and drinking several shots of Aunt Beru's cunt juice.
And I am going to say sorry in advance for any other Professionals I might have missed (there were many of us after all). -
Falls apart. So I am pretty sure we'll never see a new Robocop by him.
-
The action, story, purposely corny over the top commercials....DA is good, but if he makes a robocop it should be a continuation and not a remake imo.
-
"Motherfuckin dead or motherfuckin alive, you're motherfuckin comin with me.....motherfucker!"
-
As Professionals, Followers of the Bale, we forgive and forget and live on with mutual respect. If you were an Amateur, a Follower of the Hurlbutt, I'd toss you through a window.
