Capone has the Winners' Names for the Chicago STAR TREK screening!!!
Hey everyone. Capone in Chicago here, with the list of winners for tickets to see the Chicago screening of STAR TREK on Thursday, April 30. Those who entered and won will receive an email from me shortly with the details on the time and place of the screening. If you entered this contest, your name is on the list, and you did not receive an email, let me know and I'll get you the details. Also, if you put down a guest's name and don't see that person's name here, let me know. Your name must be on this list to get into this screening. Period!
Please be advised that the screening is slightly overbooked to make sure we have a full house, so if you want a good seat, get there early. We had more than 400 entries (most for two people) for about 250 seats, so clearly the competition was fierce. Here are the lucky few…

Oh, well...I went online and bought reserved seats for a general release screening on opening weekend. Guess I'll just have to write a more clever entry for the 2011 advance screening of STAR TREK 12: The Nuttiness Continues

I wrote what I thought was a well thought out, passionate plea to see the movie with a bunch of other Star Trek fans. Having been a writer for television I figured I'd have a shot, but to think that Capone picked 250 people over me is disheartening. Oh well. I'm still going to the IMAX showing on opening night, so have fun at the screening, everyone! Just wish we could have been there with you all.

and since I didnt win this contest, looks like i'll never be. :(

i've lost the last 4 screenings in a row.. perhaps i need to take some creative writing classes so i can see a damn Chicago premiere. (to be fair, i have also won two of them)

Thanks, rutgerman, for reminding me it's being released in IMAX also. I had gotten my hopes up for this contest, so losing was quite a letdown.<p> Now I don't feel so bad, since I'd rather see it first in IMAX anyways.

Yeah Anime Nut I know how you feel. I've only tried for the ones I really wanted so as to give others a chance who really want it. But hey, what're ya gonna do...in a few weeks you'll be on the same page as everyone else. (Although Capone if you're reading this I'd LOVE to see some of the winning entries.) Hey, we can get our own screening together for IMAX - bring your Trekkie buddies :)

Oh well, his loss... i swallow ;)

I am excited... what time would people suggest getting down there? Arrive by 6:30PM? Is 7:00PM too late?
April 20, 2009, 9:46 a.m. CST
So, what exactly did you have to do to get in?
April 20, 2009, 10:01 a.m. CST
If you win one of these you are excluded from the next few? Wonder how many are repeat winners? I'm not sure what a winning entry constitutes; should I use more capital letters and exclamation points? I love star trek, been watching for most of my life, but perhaps not the right level of internet exuberance in my entry? Hmm.

Here is my email to Capone, were there better ones? I am sure there were... maybe I was lucky. I also sent pictures of my Star Trek garage. Hi Capone, How are you? My name is "leaving this out" and my guest would be my uncle, "leaving this out". I would love the Star Trek tickets... and here is why... I am 38 years old, work from home 5 days a week... and need a break from life. Wahh, wahhh, wahhh... you say... who cares... you say... Well, I work from 7AM-4:30PM everyday programming files... and from 8AM-9AM I get my 5 and 3 year old daughters ready for school and the babysitter. I pickup my 5 year old at 2:30PM and continue to work until 4:30PM, we go pick up the 3 year old at that time. So, we come home and I start dinner, homework and baths... my wife works for "leaving this out". She gets home late... so I am always with my girls... I NEED A BREAK FROM LIFE... and will be a great person for the audience... I promise to smile and laugh at appropriate times. I do not need the tickets, I can afford the movie and was going to go on Saturday , May 9th and will still give JJ & Company my money on that day. But I have been dying to see the movie... hated the thought of a prequel since Day 1 (look up BojTrek on the site) but it has really grown on me. Check out the attached pictures... my garage is a Star Trek display area... my basement has Star Trek items. My uncle is almost 50 and he is a Trek freak like me and his wife and 3 daughters will not go see it with him... WE ARE BOTH TRAPPED WITH WOMEN and NEED A BREAK! This isn't one of my better letters to you... but I hope it is enough... Let me know... I am a 100% on being there... I live near in the Edison Park area. Thanks! BojTrek on the site.

I lost the Iron Man contest at the beginning of last summer but then Capone chose me for some really great screenings later in the summer, so here's hoping that the trend continues. IMAX it is.

It would have been nice to see ST:TNMP with a huge group of fans.

you donate money to Capone's house that was damaged in a storm. I am sure he would accept whatever you can give him. Some time ago he was wanting people to send money to him to fix it. I would go that route. You might have a shot.

If I had never noticed that the last couple of times a select group of Chicago residents mysteriously occupy nearly 10 seats. I somehow doubt they actually entered and then won the contest.
