The Latest HARRY POTTER trailer has hit in Glorious Quicktime and is pretty glorious!
Hey folks, Harry here with the latest HARRY POTTER trailer from this latest "half blood prince" chapter of Rowling's Harry Potter series. I have to say - this is the creepiest and most eerie looking Harry Potter I've seen yet. I just can't get past how creepy it looks. Can't wait to see it all. Here ya go...

Looks good.
-
approves.
-
They wrote themselves into a huge corner in the way the last film deviated from the book. I'm very curious to see how they get themselves out of it.
-
so abbreviated and short... one of the best books and they fucked it up so bad. so bad.
-
These Potter movies just keep getting better and better.
Originally I was pretty ambivalent towards them but now they're becoming 'must see'. This one looks well worth a trip to the cinema. -
Judge Briggs, totally disagree dude.
I thought ORDER OF THE PHOENIX was the worst of the books and the best of the films.
I judge you to be... wrong. -
I love everything about that trailer.
-
It looks great. It is also cool that they moved up the date of the release to the Wednesday in July not that Friday. I loved the Half Blood Prince and I agree with Cobra Kai, ORder was the worst book and the best movie.
-
someday...
-
Boring.
-
This better be like 2.5 hours long! At least.
-
oh, he does speak......still, it looks fun.
-
what is that straight to DVD pile of crap? with a cheap Christian bale look a like and shitty creature....hmmm trying to cash in on T4 i think.
-
Those are infiri, I was expecting more of a zombie look from what I read in the book, but what have you?
-
You have your opinion... which is fine... you can't discount the fact it was the longest book and the shortest movie... so much material was left out and plot lines completely left out. The last scene with Dumbledore and HP was raped, etc. etc.
-
and stopped slogging through them about 100 pages in to book 4, I have to say I think the movies are pretty entertaining.
-
Every movie is always better than the last. I didn't think it could get any better than Order of the Phoenix but HBP looks fucking awesome. It's come a long way since Sorcerers Stone.
-
Somebody should seriously write some fan fiction to make that scenario a reality.
-
Most of you will belong to one of two groups. Either you lov the two Columbus films, for their respect to the books, and you hate the way the others desecrate the source material. You are COLUMBUS-LOVERS. Or you think the first two movies are awkward bores, and the other three far more rewarding as movies. Let's call you COLUMBUS-HATERS. It's impossible to get any agreement between these two groups. Both are valid, in a way. (Incidentally, I am a COLUMBUS-HATER. And although I like Yates, I am a bit sad that Cuaron won't be revisiting this territory. Wish he had done OOTP, and wish Newall was doing this one.)
-
Lookin' FINE.
-
Not exactly a great achievement, but I'm proud of it nonetheless.
-
But then it turns out they're both Tyler Durden!
-
My enjoyment of the movies is inverse to the enjoyment of the books. So Prisoner of Azkaban -- my least favorite book -- is my favorite of the movies. OOTP is similarly second. Goblet of Fire, which I thought was the most cinematic of the books but I was disappointed in the movie. Etc. Half-Blood Prince book is in the top 2 (still haven't figured out which one I enjoy more, HPP or GOF) so I'm concerned I won't like this movie at all.
But dang that's a good trailer. Interesting that they're going to show the scenes that are only mentioned in the book. -
Also, quit with the half assed composers and bring John Williams back for the last one. The magic is missing since The Prisoner of Azkaban
-
...but that sort of kicked it. Wand duels notwithstanding. Wand duels work fine in the books, but every time you read one you know it's going to look ridiculous on film.
-
Ok so I officially have my harry hard-on ready. The last one was so craptastic that the only place for this one to go is up... having said that, this one looks like the Harry Potter I have been dreaming of. Lets just hope that they don't go and rape the last one. My childhood is still reeling from the Indiana Jones raping... leave my adulthood alone!!!
-
so you read XKCD too huh? :P awesome
-
Because I could swear Dick Cheney is Old Man Potter.
-
The guy made the worst HARRY POTTER book into arguably the best of the five films. And this trailer looks like another ride of awesome.
-
...but there's so many things working against the movie. First, early reviews were a big, rounding "meh." Second, it's bloody PG (which goes totally against the tone this trailer sets - lots of people die in HBP). Third, David Yates has a knack of cutting the absolute wrong things. I'm excited, but I'm still keeping my expectations strictly in check. Can't be too disappointed when the film comes around.
-
...how many spoilers there are in this trailer. If you haven't read the book, I'd strongly urge you not to watch it.
-
He tucks it under the waistband of his trousers and covers it with the latest copy of Smash Hits!

The reviews were only 'meh' because of the book lovers
by performingmonkey
People should just get over stuff being cut from the books. This is a 2 hour movie, it takes something like 12 hours straight to read the book. There's no action in HBP either, until the end, so they HAVE to make additions to make a well rounded movie. Btw it seems they've chickened out somewhat on the Inferi. As has been pointed out they look more like Gollum than anything, when in fact they're supposed to be reanimated rotting corpses that have been in that lake for years. I always wondered how they'd get that into a PG and now we know.
-
...how obnoxious all those colour filters are. "Clearly it's dark and mature since it's all grey and brown." Also, Gollums.
-
but this is still a movie for little kids for the most part...just can't get into the Harry Potter thing...it's Twilight with broomsticks.
-
As of late there have been a lot of flicks that technically have PG-13 material that have been getting that rating as of late. I would put this movie in the realm of 1980s PG movies, if you catch what I'm saying.
-
Still doesn't make up for the fact that I should have seen it back in November.
-
And hopefully something better will come along and fill its void.
-
Wish I could have found as painless a way to read the books...
-
Word of advice, Harry: don't let Dumbledore get you anywhere near a suitcase...

I still don't buy Hermione and Ron...GIVE ME A F*CKING BREAK
by feralangel
Rowling couldn't bear pairing up her vapid hero with a strong female...might diminish him too much...so he hooks up with a bland nobody character with zip personality and whose magic mojo doesn't challenge his. Wizard's wands are such fragile things, don't you know...
-
I was amazed to see him and Clarence with Ronald Reagan in 'The Bad Man' recently. Not the best film, perhaps, but it was great to see the tremendoes--nay, majestic--Ronald Reagan in a film with Clarence and Mr. Potter. If Uncle Billy had shown up, it would have been just about perfect.

Final word: the Potter phenom is so OVER. It's Twilight now
by feralangel
And at least it's written by an AMERICAN author. Booyah! Jingoism rulezzzz!
-
I'm guessing that you didn't read the books, because Ginny is pretty powerful. Even in OOTP Ginny was the one that blew up the shelves at the end. People complained enough about the "soap opera" element without Harry getting involved with Hermione.
-
When you try to split people into groups it never works. The Columbus movies were right for the tone of the books that they were adapted from. Same with the later movies. I would say POA is best and GoF is the worst, but I think Columbus did well. I missed a lot of the plot threads that got dropped from OOTP, but Yates nailed the emotional content, which is at least as important. You know some of the story has to go when you edit that big of a book into a 2 hour movie. And they can't all be 2.5 or 3 hours long. The same is going to happen with HBP.
-
I'll get that paragraph thing figured out.
-
Why bother trying to squeeze everyone into one of two camps? Is your world really that black and white? The range of reactions to the films and books is FAR greater than what you indicate, and there's no reason to HATE anyone, regardless of how you feel about the first two films. Lighten up.
-
Yeah, why don't we reserve that sort of nonsense talk for when Twilight has half a dozen blockbuster sized movies and sells a few more books. Besides, - who needs another take on the vampire thing. I mean, I'm glad that the kid who played Diggery got a job and everything but really now, it's not even close. The Potter trailer was awesome - and I've read all the books and recognized the scenes. Twilight? Umm, is that movie out yet?
-
was the third one, with the werewolf, directed by the spanish guy. It was the one and only time this series had a real director that filmed this stuff like it was art, instead of just de-saturating it to Law & Order levels.
-
And after the big changes I've heard Yates has made to this story. That said, this trailer is pretty fantastic.
-
The last one was PG-13, but THIS one, the one that has FAR more darker material, is PG?!? Like I said, I have no high hopes for this flick. GDamn you, David Yates.
-
If, as you say, there is no real action in the novel until the end, then why the FUCK did Yates cut out the action at the end? Bad adapting.
-
You mean because it's like popular and fantasy or whatever? Don't you think there's something wrong with retroactively comparing the books to a recent pop culture trend? They have more in common with Lord of the Rings (which is part of the reason some of you refuse to read them in the first place) than they do with Twilight, but whatever.
-
There was a werewolf in the third one? When? I remember some scenes at the end with a giant rabid lemur but no werewolf.
-
poa is still the best followed by goblet...hbp is the 2nd best book maybe third but from what i hear yates is gonna destroyed the ending in this one. fuck.
-
This goes for Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, whatever. In each case, almost everyone who's read the books and seen the movies says the books are better. Therefore, if you've just seen the movies, you're missing out. You saw the lesser version and it forever ruins the greater version. Congratulations! Also, people that shit on Harry Potter are lame. Oooh, look at me, I'm a cynical hipster, I hate what's popular. That shit is stupid. Save the unfunny snark for your blog, so you delete it when you get embarrassed by it in five years. That said, this trailer is surprisingly great. But PG? Really? There's something uncomfortable about this having the same rating as the Chris Columbus entries, given the source material...oh well. Here's to hoping they'll do great adaptations of Earthsea, Dune and His Dark Materials when the Potter well runs dry...
-
nice to hear the old "it's magic-y" theme turned into something cool
-
Has that lovely epic cinemascope look that the last one had. Makes a change in this shaky-cam close ups era.
-
I'm perfectly OK with making changes to the story for adaptation to film. It's about the choices you make, and frankly, they made some awful ones in Phoenix.
-
That looks incredible.
-
i've been wanting to see some good old wizardry action. bring it on bitchez
-
to endorse HBP. As a younger man I did enjoy the first two movies, as light fun. POA really shined. Goblet of Fire was a dismal trainwreck that tried to cram in too much and ended up with too little to keep my interest. OotP was like a slap in the face. OotP is supposed to be where Harry starts to become a MAN. Where he starts to realize that the world is a bleak, fucked up place and just because he's "the boy who lived" doesn't mean he's impervious to pain, both physical and psychological. By the end of OotP, he should have been SCREAMING at Dumbledore, SMASHING everything in sight at the guilt he feels over causing Sirius' death. But no, he takes it like his pet turtle just got run over. If that scene is indicative of the direction they're going in for how they portray Harry in the next two movies, count me out. He needs to have some FIRE in his eyes, dammit! Freaking emotionally dead British fops. Gah. Bring back Cuaron and cast a new Potter for book 7 and maybe I'll go see it.
-

i enjoy poa and chamber of secrets films as much as the books
by supercowbell4therequestformorecowbell
goblet of fire film version was great but too many scenes were cut AND WHERE WERE THE DURSLEYS?!?! and order of the phoenix was better than the book but that was easily the lamest book in the series soo i dont know if that really counts. the book is the longest but had nothing going on 3/4 of the fuckin time.
-
Mmm mmm. Tasty.
-
JK did Harry a disservice by hooking him up w/Ginny.It was if she was afraid that Ron/Harry wouldn't be BFF and needed a "device" to guarantee they would remain BFF!I mean damn who the fuck would want to marry into that famly? Everybody is fucking annoying!Ron/Herimone is also one of the worst pairings I could imagine! Why would a chick get with dumbass like Ron? Herimone would had her pick of some of the best suitors around!JK pairings were fanservice at it worst!
-
Really, have you people never seen that? Do you live in the real world? I have known quite a few girls who've dated someone "below" their potential. And as "dumb" as Ron may be, he is still a good-hearted person, which is what seems to count to Hermione. That being said, the FILM version of Harry and Hermione seem to have more chemistry to me in their scenes together.
Trailer was pretty sweet though, I'm loving the tone of it. I'm alright with them changing big plot points from the book, as long as they make it work with the film. That being said, is anyone else annoyed at the lack of incantations when spells are being used, especially in duels? That's probably my one nitpick. I think it adds more emotion (ie "EXPECTO PATRONUM!).
And does anyone know where to find that new epic take on the music cue at the end? Really diggin that. -
At least, I think it looked like Marla Singer in the trailer.
-
a cute Shrew..but a Shrew none the less. Of course she is going to pic a complete fucking looser...someone she can keep under her thumb, and emasculate every fucking chance her witch ass gets. They should make a Harry Potter middle aged series...one Where Ginny is Cheating on Harry as he is far too into his magic to take care of her needs, and where Herminone is headmistress of an all girls school whilst Ron, out of work and lacking any self confidence, drinks himself into a bottle of fucking Pumpkin Juice while watching Quidditch down at the Pub.
-
But I don't know. I haven't watched any of the movies yet, though probably will when they've all been released. Right now, I'm just concerned about the music. Wasn't impressed with the one for the fifth film.
As far as the whole "read the books, morons" thing goes -- I've only read one of the books, the last one. More accurately, I started reading because I had nothing else to do and then just skimmed until I reached the end, because Rowling's writing style was astoundingly horrible. Now, I actually like 30ies pulp fiction and their modern-day counterparts, media tie-in novels, so it's not as if I'm not used to clunky prose. But Rowling? God, horrible. The characters came across as thinner than cardboard (within that one novel, at any rate, obviously I can't account for character progression before that), and the plot reeked of lazy computergame-iness (mission- and objective-based with empty, exchangeable protagonists, and all that), with a cop-out of an ending.
The movies aren't likely to change plot or characters, but at least they're made by people who're somewhat (or, in the case of Cuarón, exceptionally) talented within their chosen profession. Rowling isn't, which was quite a revelation for me, after all the hype surrounding her. -
that daniel dude SUCKS I noticed in the movies the other characters have much more to say & do than he does if you add it up. Considering the film is supposed to be about him that kinda sucks and is prob why I never liked these movies.
The 3rd one was so atrociously edited I could barely believe it, or make sense of what was going on from scene to scene. Wow.. -
That guy who wrote in saying he saw an "EARLY screening of this? At least over a year ago now.. He said there was no battle between Snape and Harry and that Harry and Ginny didn't really hook up but "Almost did"?? Well That review turned out to be complete fucking lying shit because in this trailer and the last one, Harry is clearly fighting Snape in the grounds outside the castle and Ginny kissed Harry in the last trailer I saw.. We need to get some real screening reviews of this fucker on the site now!
-
ghost.
-
less marketing. Where the fuck did all of AICNs contacts go? All the guys who would write in screenings etc...hasn't even been a fake to fuck with around here in months it seems...and you KNOW this thing has been screened at LEAST 100 times by now.
-
He said the end battle in Hogwarts had been edited out- and that's been confirmed. If I'm remembering the same set of reviews you are, they all said there was no battle at the end. And that the confrontation bt Snape and Harry felt lacking on Snape's part.
-
Then I think you might be remembering wrong. There's nothing stated in these reviews that rings false now. http://www.aintitcool.com/node/38251
-
Hermione gets naked and winds up impaled on Hagrids' huge dick! Now thats a movie!
-
other things to read. But I do own all of the movies. I have 3 kids at home so that's pretty much a natch. This looks good enough to occupy their time and fill their heads full of non-Christian wizardy shit. Throw in some Greek myth stuff with the remake of Clash and I'll have them questioning everything. "Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ?" someone will ask, and they will reply "Don't know. Haven't seen his movie yet."
-
Emma Watson seems to be a girl with some intelligence and class...so the chances for Porn are slim. However..Megan Fox should be staring in "Transporners" pretty quick as she has no formal education and her 15 minutes is almost up.
-
That dude said there was NO confrontation between Harry and Snape. I remember him writing that Snape barely mentioned to Harry in passing that he was the half blood prince and that was it.. No fight, nothing. I remember him saying there was no battle in Hogwarts and I understand why now, because of what happens in the next book (spoiler free if you dont know), be he also said there was no Harry Snape fight, so they either added it back in, or re-shot that whole sequence (which I doubt because someone would have written about it).

BTW You're right about screenings happening all the time
by turd furgeson
Because I just saw one about 3 weeks ago now, for a movie called "GAME" Now being called "Citizen Game." They had to test HP more than a few times.. And that "Citizen Game" was fucking AWEFUL! One of the worst movies I have ever seen. Which is a shame because it has a great cast.
-
Did you read the link I posted? He said the Death Eater, including Snape, walk out unmolested. By that he meant that NO ONE ELSE tries to stop them- there is no battle- like there is in the book. He didn't lie. The review was paired with another review from the same screening. The previous reviewer mentions the confrontation bt him and Harry but says Snape just sorta quietly tells him the big secret of the movie. They didn't reshoot anything. It was just a somewhat confusing statement that you have misinterpreted in your memory.
-
are dead people animated by magic. I'm guessing we won't see Harry mess up Malfoy's face with the sectumsempra curse since it's PG.
-
Half Blood Prince will mark the end of summer blockbusters for me, and this trailer makes it look great. Tom Felton looks phenomenal - he's really grown into a terrific, obviously conflicted villain. Now if only Radcliffe didn't have to stand upslope or on hillocks or man-makers, he'd be a killer. But he's beginning to remind me more and more of Elijah Wood: an adorable little tiny man. Oh well. Looking forward to the great Helen McCrory as Narcissa Malfoy, and as always, Helena Bonham Carter as the insanely-lethal Bellatrix LeStrange.
-
Awesome. I hope it is!

The ending in the 7th book will be changed for the movie.

Yes, it is true. Isn't it all true?

only gays practice magic. btw harry potter books promote homosexuality.
-
Now you're just being a 12 year old fuckup.
-
Because Yates actually decided to listen to his cinematographer this time around Bruno DelBonnel. I'm still hesitant to say this will be the best HP film since PoA since the content from the first trailer still looks like childish crap.
-
In the book, he pretty much destroys parts of the headmaster's office after sirus's death. You're right, in the movie, its a bit underwhelming.

This trailer didn't do it for me, and I like these movies....
by dannyglovers_dickblood
....the trailer for the last film was much more powerful. The CG does look excellent. And that albino motherfucker looks like he's 40. He's starting to get meth mouth too, which is good for the look of the character, but bad for life span and lasting sanity.
-
Do you have to look the fucking same in every single fucking thing you do you fucking pig? Jesus Christ that jet black dye could not have been good for the baby when you were impregnated with the black tar seed of Herr Burton.
-
well that's pretty cool, I genuinely didn't know that guys/gals like you existed. and yes, we should lighten up here, especially those who have a strange, personal, rabid hatred of the talented Mr Yates...
-
first of all, the film of OOTP didn't have the music from the OOTP trailer (though it was original) so we can assume the same might be the case here. But here's the thing. I really liked the score for OOTP. Sure it wasn't as good as POA, but it was v distinct, and v unHollywood, which was a nice change...
-
It did! Movie will probably never live up to the book, but the trailer makes out it might lol
-
Much better than the last movie, what was it called? Looking forward to it.
-
I must have missed it, but seems like Dumbledore talked 90% of the time.
-
FIGHT BACK YOU COWARD!
-
It all pretty much followed the same tempo and time signature. The flying theme through London was bland, horrid, distracting. The only good music in the film was Umbridge's theme and the music playing when the Weasley's busted out of school. GoF had a much better, lush score fitting a magical fantasy tale. POA still has the best music by far.
-
that actually looked pretty awesome
-
...when I came to the post about somebody saying Twilight was better than Harry Potter. Nonsense like that just gives me a headache.
-
will blow harry potter for the right price. Just sayin
-
He who smelt it, dealt it. If you catch my drift, fruity.
-
Why do they have to change stuff just for the sake of changing stuff? All it does is piss the fans of the books off.
-
and this one will be better. they really started nailing it with that new director and new score composer. fucking a. im right, you disagree'rs are idiots. go back and watch the first 2 over and over again in your own private hell.
-

I didn't say Twilight was BETTER than Potter. I said it was WETT
by feralangel
At least for girls. When it comes to supernatural magical girly-men, Edward owns Harry now. Such is life. People move on. Truly, now that everybody knows how the book series end (hint, everybody interesting dies, and the rest of the characters get involved in unlikely hookups) who gives a quid about the damn movies now? That's why the trailer looked so great - the studio KNOWS the series is like, so OVER, and it's desperate to rekindle the spark. And for the record, I still say that Ginny was a nobody nothing nonthreat and that's why she got Harry. I also agree with the person who posted here that the onscreen Harry and Hermione have real chemistry, and ain't that just too damn ironic?
-
This is why i like quicktime. You can go frame by frame and see all sorts of stuff you miss.
-
You realize that the whole Hermione/Ron thing was telegraphed from like the second book on, right? Although with your interest in "supernatural girly-men" and your penchant for conspiracy theories, you do sound just crazy enough to have been one of those creepy "shippers" back when this series was still going on.
-
but I do remember there was a confrontation between Harry Potter and snape. Potter wants to learn more about his parents and he discovers that snape really hated Potters dad. Potter breaks into Snapes class and eventually gets caught and a fight ensues.
-
Emeraldboy, that is in book 5. Harry wasnt trying to learn more about his parents, he was looking into the pensieve Snape was using to store his memories because he didnt trust Snape and assumed he was using the penseive to store memories that would give away the fact that he was really on Voldemorts side. Then Harry discovered why Snape hated James Potter so much when he saw James use a spell to hang Snape upside down and pull his pants off in front of Lily, the girl they both loved.
And Jardinier, dont come on here bashing the writing style of the books after admitting you havent read a single one. The entire reason this childrens book series is so popular with adults is because of the strength of the writing. And if you had read the books you would know the ending is far from a cop out seeing as how it is set up from book 5 how Harry was going to kill Voldemort using the power of love.
And how can you say you didnt like the music in OoTP when you havent seen the film? You make no sense. -
I can listen to the music without watching the film itself. It's called "soundtrack album," and I have quite a lot of those. Good scores can be enjoyed without the moving pictures they originally accompanied, and many composers edit their music for the album release anyway, to make it a less choppy listening experience. So, can I know how well the music works in the context of the film? No. But can I know how well the music works on its own? Yes. And in that respect, which is the only one I presently care about, OotP falls far short of the other installments.
And I *did* read one of the novels, number 7. I said so. Otherwise I could hardly comment about the writing style, you're correct about that. And it's not that I started the novel and then put it back after a few pages, though I was tempted to; I read the whole thing, if maybe a little quicker than usual. Are the earlier novels masterpieces of the English language? Possibly. I wouldn't know. I doubt it, though; authors don't usually get *worse* with experience.
If you believe that the writing is exceptional and that this is what lured adults in, that's your prerogative. You're free to believe that. And I'm free to believe that either your standards are incredibly low or that you're hype-addled and deluded. It's not a new phenomenon by any means; see "Brown, Dan" for another example of inexplicable mainstream success (inexplicable at least, when the books are judged on literary merits alone).
I don't begrudge Rowling her (financial) success, or her readers the enjoyment her books bring forth. I'm all for getting children to read more, and if it's HARRY POTTER that helps with that, so be it. I just wish adults were a little more picky when it comes to quality, especially in SFF fiction. -
If the Ron/Hermie thang was telegraphed from book one, I missed the signals, I guess, maybe because I'm not a "shipper" (what a cute word. Did you make it up?)
-
This looks like pure fucking fantasy ownage, and that AWESOME fucking cue at the title screen is like a call to arms. We're so far out of children's book territory here. Ejaculamis!
