The Trailer For Nimrod Antal's Action-Thriller ARMORED Needs More Fred Ward!
Beaks here...
The way I see it, there are two kinds of movies: those with Fred Ward, and garbage. Nimrod Antal's ARMORED is not garbage.
Judging from the just-released trailer, it actually looks like a pretty enjoyable heist flick populated with a bunch of tough-guy character actors - which is what I figured it'd be when I visited the set back in February of '08. The plot is nothing new: Columbus Short stars as a wet-behind-the-ears armored car guard who gets talked into pulling off an inside job by his colleagues (Matt Dillon, Laurence Fishburne, Jean Reno and Amaury Nolasco); when the job goes bad and people get hurt, Short starts working against his co-conspirators. If it works, it'll be due to the cast and the action-staging expertise of Antal, who proved he's got the chops for this kind of thing with 2003's KONTROLL.
This is a mid-September release from Screen Gems, so don't expect much more than a solid genre picture. Then again, I'll be thrilled if half of this summer's $100 million event films turn out to be solid genre pictures, so maybe ARMORED will be something special after all. It's already got the Ward...
And here's one more Ward classic.

is ripe for a remake. They should cast an actual Korean as Chun this time.
-
My apologies to the House Of Sinanju...
-
Don't bring up a trailer without linking to it, that's just lazy.
http://tinyurl.com/cd8ahp just kidding beaks :)
-
that is all.
-
I thought it was pretty sweet myself, it got me to go back and watch Kontroll.
-
you said Nimrod..this is going to rock!
-
I mean, I LOVE Fred Ward and all, but get on this. Or at least link to CAST A DEADLY SPELL on youtube.

You post like a baboon with two clubbed hands.

I move like a pregnant yak.

they should still make the other Hoke Moseley novels. I heard they had intended to do another one after that but somehow it didn't light the world on fire so they forgot about it.

It's got Skeet Ulrich in it! Star of Chill Factor!
by i_am_not_the_droid_you_are_looking_for
I can't wait for this!

And type in Armored. Seriously, people, not brain surgery. Whenever a trailer is here, it's most always on Youtube as well and none of this "you need to download Quicktime" bullshit. I have to say the film looks pretty damn cool, and forget Fred Ward, it's Jean Reno that is "coolness" seal of approval.

How about Sideswiped?

i speak the truth

The theater I saw it at had the fire alarm go off in the middle of the film. We had to evacuate for 20 minutes. They let us back in but the projectionist never stopped the film so we missed about 20 minutes in the middle of the film.
-
Was my favorite HBO made for cable movie, speaking of Fred Ward. But I may be alone on that.
-
Seriously, a new Remo Williams TV series would kick ass.
-
Rocked! im with you there Monkee, Id didnt care for the sequel with Dennis Hopper. it needed Ward's smart ass attitude. The Ward rules!
-
Hot young chick: "I'm serious!"
Fred Ward: "Then why are you wearin' that hat?" -
now THAT, I'd see...

jesus people, just TRY reading before you complain...

it would make this world a better place. Miami Blues is so great, young skinny Alec Baldwin on fire (not that there's anything wrong with old fat Alec Baldwin), and, of course, Fred Ward. Seriously, though, he needs a rediscovery part a la Travolta in Pulp Fiction, or Rourke in The Wrestler...boo-ya! "Now I'll tell you what. I want you to sew my eyebrow back on."
-
The guys name is Nimrod?!
-
for playing Remo. Just foolin' I like Fred, too. If they aint goin' to be any more Destroyer Series based movies....maybe, someone should look at the Casca series by Barry Sadler, whilst we're talking paperback action series type stuff...Anyhow, yeah Fred's the Man.
-
It has all the makings of a series. Just do it right.
-
Here endeth the lesson.
-
Needs more Fred Ward-age though....
-
It wasn't there initially - The entire world isn't completely retarded... Also, it is a tad insulting that you are calling all first posters Christians...Hardy har har :)
-
is one of my personal favorites. I skipped Vacancy due to bad word of mouth, but they had me at Fred Ward and Jean Reno for this one.
-
In my opinion, he's the most under used cool-without-trying-to-be-cool actor ever. I would love to see him play Mike Hammer or Phillip Marlowe.
-
I second the Casca suggestion. My dad used to constantly read those, the Destroyer books and, do a lesser extend, The Executioner series, so I picked those up from him. Good stuff.
-
I could get behind. (Other than Trek of course, God bless you, JJ).
-
Seriously. Fred Ward is the subject and there's no mention of Tremors? What is wrong with you people?
-
Don't forget The Player too. Armored looks good though.
-
Fred Ward would have been cast as Wolverine when he was still in his 40's. He woulda been PERFECT. And yes, 'Miami Blues' rocks out with its cock out. Great film.
-
The right height and weight and the voice is perfect.
-
What else do they have to throw at us?
-
Bring it.

Fred Ward will be the mastermind behind the whole heist
by itto ogami loses daigoro
. . .and then we will all be happy.
-
That the running 'Graboids' by Phil Tippett. Fuck 3 and 4 though, I couldn't bring myself to watch them. But I heard about this film over a year ago, what's the fucken hold up?
-
wish there was a dvd version....
-
Chain Reaction. Joe Dirt. They both possessed the Ward, but nay they did not understand the Ward.
-
...in this offbeat B style that is completely appreciated.
-
Think about it. Dredd ain't young by any means. Keep the helmet the fuck on - check out that grimace and the chin - damn if he ain't ole Dreddy...
-
Ward with a side O'Bacon....mmmmm that's fucking good...
-
I goddamn love that movie. Awesome old school noir gumshoe story mixed in with H.P. Lovecraft. HELLS yeah. Fantastic ending too. Movie is tops.
-
Heartening to see the Ward love here – we always use to have him as the Comedian in our nerd “cast the Watchmen” conversations back in the 90’s.
Anyone got any idea why they stupidly recast his role to Dennis Hopper in the sequel to Cast a Deadly (where the fucking DVD release?) Spell?
-
A great Ward film IMO.
-
forget this crap...post the link to the jaw dropping new Harry Potter trailer...hot damn that must be one of the best movie trailers I have ever seen!...go to the Apple trailers page to view the new trailer
-
that doesnt sound nimrody.
-
Damn You Michael Bay
-
He wrote the script! It's down to his original spec. Give him some kudos, too! He rewrote it with Nimrod's guidance.
-
Mack Bolan movie to finally get made. Get Bay to direct it. Explosions and headshots for EVERYONE!!!!! RIP April Rose and the rest of the fallen at the Farm in Day of Mourning.
-
Sitting around in a bar like being a fucking rent-a-cop is a real job or club?
Ummm...no. -
That opening fanfare is the best.
-
Not terribly enthused. The main character's motivation is a cliché. Pick a populist evil enemy (George Bush, Dick Cheney, Wall Street, and in this case evil bank that wants to foreclose on his home that he probably couldn't afford in the first place) and steal from them. BOOOOORRRINNNGGGG!!! You want to impress me? They should be doing a vintage-version Mission Impossible on ACORN to dig up all manner of incriminating evidence and extort millions from them. Unfortunately, Hollywood would make ACORN the hero so I guess that's not going to work. Hmm... how about "Fox News Films"? That could work.
