Heavy Competition!! THE OFFICE 5.22!!
SPOILER ALERT !!
I am – Hercules!!
I was saddened to see Vikram bolt The Michael Scott Paper Company, though his exit was beyond hilariousness.
One wonders how The Michael Scott Paper Company can survive without him. Does it drain away just enough business to force Dunder Mifflin to acquire it very cheaply?
Tonight:
HEAVY COMPETITION
Dwight’s loyalty to Michael is tested when he finds a new hero in Charles (guest star Idris Elba). Meanwhile, Andy (Ed Helms) tries to provide for all of Jim’s (John Krasinski) emotional needs.
Next week:
BROKE
Michael’s new company struggles to make early morning deliveries while the office tries to get their expense reports in on time after Angela enforces Dunder Mifflin’s policy.
April 30:
CASUAL FRIDAY
Michael (Golden Globe winner Steve Carell) has to mediate a dispute within his new sales team. Meanwhile, trouble brews in the office when several employees take the term “casual” Fridays too loosely.
Pam may soon be joining the Dunder Mifflin sales team.
“The Wire” vets Idris Elba and Amy Ryan will both appear in the fifth season finale.

they keep deleting all his scenes, and they're hilarious!

How about a Supernatural talkback, Herc?
-
Love this new resurgence in the show. Where be Chris and Snoop?!
-
here's some links to its talkbacks for fans who want to post where other fans might find their posts (hint, not some random Office talkback):
tinyurl.com/c5suaw
tinyurl.com/d2macq
tinyurl.com/74mu8y -
Supernatural invasions of other shows Talkbacks on the other hand, might convince Herc to relent and grant the masses what they've been asking for, for a long time now.
-
Nah, that's a cool show.
-
If you didnt laugh out loud at last nights episode, you have no sense of humor and should just watch PBS forever.
-
This arc is helping the show a lot. Loving douche-Ryan and independent Pam clashing.
Meanwhile, The Unusuals is surprisingly good, I enjoyed last night's ep a lot. How come this is in danger of being cancelled but we're awash in CSI and Law and Order spinoffs? -
Because they sometimes play the British Office, which is way better than Better Off Ted and this once-great, now-decrepit Office abomination.
-
Especially the first segment.
-
the Army of Lovers song gets stuck in my head. Not that that's a bad thing.
-
and has an edit button.
-
To quote Billy Joel "Get it right the first time that's the main thing"
-
But it's a relevant quote.
I'm feeling feisty. -
It sounds sort of gaytarded.
-
What are we meant to talk about here? It's not like there's the mysteries of LOST or FRINGE to discuss, or an overall story arc to speculate about. This is a waste of a TB that could be better used for something else, Herc... maybe like SUPERNATURAL?
-
I wonder if there's any thought whether it helps curb appetite. Also, though - I'm glad we have a double standard (by 'we' I mean my multiple personalities) because there's no way I'm choosing gum over a warm, delicious chocolate chip cookie. I don't want that appetite curbed, because a little piece of your soul dies when you choose Extra gum over a cookie.
The kharmic backfire that is Charles always "catching" Jim at the worst moment is funny. I could tell you some really boring stories about when a major computer manufacturer that I worked for in the mid '90s migrated over to NT. I'll bet your sides hurt already.
Crth: There's a place in the world for you, Angry Young Man. Refuse to bend, refuse to fall.
I feel dirty. -
How bout we worry about a Supernatural Talkback on a day when Supernatural is not going to be a re-run...
-
But Herc loves them. He shills for the show all the time, valiantly posting deleted scenes every single time. So it gets a talkback.
But as CHRISTIAN_BALE_TRASHED_MY_LIGHTS says, there's no debate over ideas. No back and forth. No give and take. No name calling. No inventive slurs. No insane personalities.
Rather boring, really. -
Todd Packard!!!
-
YOU WILL NEVER GET IT, the reason is, not only to not a lot of people like the show, but Herc apparently doesn't really like it. If you haven't noticed, herc puts talkbacks up for shows he kind of cares about it. so please, stop asking, it wont work.......I'm looking at you too Stargate fans.
-
One of my least favorite parts of The Office are the awkward, cringe-worthy moments that find me yelling at my TV screen, "Michael, NOOO, what the hell are you thinking?!?" I could barely look at the screen for these two episodes because they felt like that the WHOLE time.
They were funny, and funnier than the last few, don't get me wrong. And I'm happy they're developing another on-going storyline; when they dropped that before and started doing one-offs was where they went south. But I dunno if I can live with the crazy bizarro world they're in now.
I was actually excited when Vikram showed up (and shit yes, EriamJH, where is Todd Packer?!), but it was the ultimate cocktease. Nope, just the same old characters but in horribly dire straits and nipping at each other's heels. Jim and Pam are apart again, and neither one can catch a break. Michael's become his own boss, so I can only imagine where that could lead. I wanna kick Charles Miner in the NUTS (whatadick). And Andy and Dwight are friends?!
...actually, I'm kind of liking that last one. They should take their act on the road: "Big D and Nard-dog: A folk experience" -
"I'm looking at you two Stargate fans"
-
The 'take me home country roads' sing off was great. I rewatched season 2 this week while doing my taxes, and it reminded me of some of the craziness from that season. Season 2 is still the best, IMHO. But I'm along for the ride and am enjoying the new direction the show is taking.
-
Not as good as last week's Racial Sensitivity (the Veridian in-show commercial was kinda weak), but it would have been hard to top racially discriminatory motion sensors. Still enough moments to make it more than watchable.
-
Anyone around Dallas know why Better Off Ted didn't come on last night?
-
seriously, in the first two years he was popping in and out, kind of like Chris Finch....but unless i'm mistaken Pack-man has been absent for a few years now.
-
Really hope this one catches on.
-
Last night's show was friggin' funny! There were so many LOL moments, but the "take-down" tackle (with the out-of-place happy maniacal grin) and the "This is exactly the sort of thing the other Ted wanted us to prevent"... those got me:D You should be watching this show -- it's like BASF on crack.
-
But where's The Deadliest Catch talk back? Best show on TV.
-
THE FUCKING PLAYED PLINKO!
-
Believe it.
-
Gave it a shot because Victor Fresco did great work with Andy Richter Controls the Universe, and this show is much in the same style. I'm enjoying the hell out of it. The jokes are actually smart, and the cast is great. Apparently it's doing poorly in the ratings, which I guess does not surprise me, but what other comedies does ABC have really? Also, the re-done Office opening last week was wonderful. I love things like that.
-
I'm sure you meant to say that "Better Off Ted is THE shit!" I can see how you made the mistake since the h and e keys are so close to the o, t, a, and l keys. You're forgiven; I'm not gonna get all grammar police on yo' ass.
-
Maybe nobody expects anything on ABC to be funny and that's why they don't watch it. But I agree it's hilarious.
-
Would those be the not a lot of people who make it the most watched show on the CW? Or the not a lot of people who consistently show up in other TV show TBs? I agree, it won't get a TB, but that has NOTHING to do with popularity (because it IS) or quality (because it is AWESOME).
-
Oh man when this show is firing on all cylanders nothing can top it.
-
Needs to stick around. These past few episodes have been some of this show's best.
-
most watched show on the CW? isn't that like saying "the tallest midget"?
-
Classic Dwight tonight.
-
Good episode. And I still want to kick Charles Miner in the nuts...but not when he talks to Michael.
-
It deserves its own talkback, I don't know why people are so against if there is such a clear demand for one...see the Dollhouse talkbacks for proof. Also this Office episode was great. I love that the Michael Scott Paper Company is actually working.
-
By Micheal's retardedness. It certainly makes his, "How's your black wife?" all the more hilarious in retrospect. The Team got thier first sale - they are really coming together. But that was foreshadowed by the awesome Cheezies manuevers (Pam had one stuck in her hair!! That was a great shot).
-
...when it doesn't come back until next week? Chill.
-
1 less than enthusiastic fan, 1 undetermined fan, 1 questionable fan, 29 OFFICIAL FANS, and at least 3 willing to give it a shot thanks to the good buzz the talkbackers have been generating for the show. (This tally was from the Dollhouse talkback from two weeks ago.)
-
...wait til it's actually on, and in a thread that actually caters to fans of the genre. Office talkbacks ain't the place.
-
site hypes up The Office?
-
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
-
Very enjoyable episode. No complaints whatsoever.
-
got me to watch an episode of Supernatural. And then another and another. I've watched it up until this season. Good show.

"Oh crap, is this a fight club?" 30 Rock was awesome.
by flim springfield
Jenna's night-vision sextape- "You can see his buddies robbing me."
-
Mistake on his part, or did they get a new timeslot?
-
Jenna's comment about having a "weird sex tape" that was "night vision, and you can see that his buddy is robbing me in the background", that cracked me up...the fight club shit was hilarious, too...The Office was funny, and Michael's complete lack of understanding on the phone, along with Pam's written instructions were hilarious, but on the whole, I'm just not buying that Michael could actually be succeeding. I mean, where is he getting the paper from? without a warehouse full of paper, doesn't he have to order it one order at a time from the manufacturer? if so, how can he turn a profit? I'm just not buying it. it's funny, but they're gonna have to really pull something interesting out of their hats to get me to buy it in the long run. if they're gonna hire michael scott back, just do it already!
-
weird, we both picked the same instances...the joke about Frank's hat was funny, too!
-
my point was that its not like its "lost" or anything, and more importantly, it kinda seems as if herc is at best, indifferent towards the show, so complaining that there isn't a talkback is like pissing in the wind.
-
Those two shows are the best sci-fi offerings currently on network tv. Both are entering their final year. Both deserve a spot on AICN. And even if Herc liked it enough to be indifferent or not, it doesn't matter, he still gave Heroes a talkback when Fuller wasn't on it....despite everyone shitting on it.
-
I liked it a lot... absolutely no complaints. In fact, I think it was easily the best of the season. I hope they keep the competition going for a while.
-
I understand your disbelief because Michael is an idiot. You have to remember, though, that it's been well established that he knows the paper business (not the financial side, specifically). And, he really is a good salesman. He has been at it for 15 years.
-
For bringing up an interesting point. Where the hell is Micheal getting the paper from? Staples??
I wonder if it's going to end up being something so ludicrous, like them selling and making sales calls without having, you know, any actual paper. -
the thing is, I liked that episode with Tim Meadows where we finally saw why Michael was actually ever valued at the company. but that was selling...this is starting a company form the ground up, that requires EXACTLY all the talents that Michael lacks: organization, savvy, foresight, etc.I didn't mind the scene with Dwight, where Michael essentially outsells him...I bought that...it's just the whole idea of the company and the behind the scenes stuff, I'm waiting for it to crash and burn. and if they do it right (they decide to hire Michael back in order to stop losing clients) that's fine, but do it soon. the bending over backwards to have this make sense, it's wearing thin. but as I said, hilarious episode...
-
Glad to see the writers are getting back to what made "The Office" funny these last few episodes. I was getting worried. Shark averted.
-
Hands down. Really been enjoying the new direction the shows been going and cant wait to see this new ep. Damn DVR was full and i missed it :o Sorry for being so generic but ive skimmed the TB so i dont get too spoiled before i watch it.
Btw, 30 Rock has DEFINITELY been kicking ass latey. "It's gonna be the 1970's in New York all over again tomorrow morning!" Hahaha, Tracey has finally found his home. -
They make me happy. So happy. We're pretty lucky to have them.
-
because Michael wasn't acting like a complete buffoon. Contrast that to Parks and Rec earlier in the evening. The blonde on BOT isn't conventionally hot, but she's strangely fetching. As for talkbacks, Herc doesn't even put them up consistently for shows he professes to like. It's not worth trying to decipher; what's up is up.
-
It was good tonight, but things still don't feel right with the Dwight and Michael competing. They need to be on the same side. And where was The Almight Creed? "LET'S PUT A SMILE ON THAT FACE!!" Oh and Parks and Recreation wasn't bad, but it has a ways to go. Rashida Jones is going to be a huge star though.
-
Him crying on Andy's shoulder had me rolling.
-
"Let me be your travelling pants"
-
"I understand....nothing!"
-
got old real fast, and last night's episode was just about perfect in every way. Michael couldn't buffoon his way through years of management at the same company and still stay employed, and last night acknowledged that. He may have weird people skills, but when they work, they work. And people are coming around to 30 Rock now? Its been hilarious since season one...blurg.
-
This batch of episodes couldn't have come at a better time. I hope we get to see more of Michael, Pam, and Ryan really struggling to make ends meet in their new venture.
-
Maybe Michael still has contacts at a local paper supplier. They might be giving him good wholesale prices because they think he still works at Dunder. Maybe they are charging the corporate account. Or he could be wandering into the wharehouse and taking what he needs.
-
"I'm going to steal away your clients...and kill them in front of you."
-
they did a great job of balancing 3 different and hilarious storylines last night. Liz as a sexual predator, Tracy and the dancers, Jenna being dead was especially hilarious (Helen Mirren getting slimed and the Kids Choice Awards memorium).
-
"Your Body is a 10"
-
You're right about Michael, but you're also forgetting that Pam and Ryan (who used to be upper-management) are much more knowledgeable about the areas where he's lacking. With the team that they have assembled they really do have all of the bases covered. It's actually quite odd... but they are a perfect fit. I suspect that Dunder-Mifflin will be forced to buy them out (but Michael will screw up the cash)... and they'll all end up right back in "The Office". Epic fail, which is in keeping with the theme.
-
... was hilarious:) I just loved Michael's "color theory".
-
I was thinking about that last episode... just wondering if it was as funny as I thought it was. I checked it out again on the ABC site and, yeah, it's as funny as I thought. I sure do hope that they don't move it to The Office's time slot. I'd still watch The Office because, well... the characters are so familiar that they are like family; but I'd sure hate to miss Ted.
-
Sans Hospital.
-
That's rounding nicely into a must-see show.
-
"...I have your meatball-parm sandwich here, and I am going to eat it!"
"And I knew that you would do that--their meatball-parm is their WORST sandwich!"
"Uggh...bastard!" -
"Spin Move!"
-
That show is starting to REALLY gel. It seems to be getting better each week.
-
I was totally going to say that...
-
"It's like a girl says she'll make out with you, but her boyfriend is waiting around the corner with a pee-filled balloon."
later..."maybe a funnel." -
Agree! It was subtle and HILARIOUS.
-
was the cold open with the cheese ball catching?
-
how many shots it took to get the shot of Jenna with a chessy poof in her hair! I'm guessing five to eight... And that's generous. The across the room shots ust have been harder. Unless it was CGI...
Dude, do you think they CGI'd the Chessy poofs?? Before you scoff, they DID CGI the bat in the first Whedom directed episode! -
Connected Whedon to the Office. Now you know why Herc has regular TB's for them too...
-
That line, Daniel, from Ryan Hansen made me laugh for a couple minutes straight. :)
-
I have Party Down "on demand". Is it worth checking out? I hear there are some Veronica Mars people on it but whose producing (writing, dircting, etc..)
(I believe that sounds a bit snobbish but I am more influenced by creators rather than actors... Anyone want to have a SAG vs WGA showdown?) -
:)
VM alums? Out the wazoo: Ken Marino (Vinnie Van Lowe) and Ryan Hansen are the VM regulars; Enrico Colantoni was in the premiere episode as a guest star. Rob Thomas is the creator/co-exec producer along with John Enbom (who also serves as showrunner), Paul Rudd and Dan Etheridge. Co-executive producers are VM behind-the-scenes vets Jennifer Gwartz and Danielle Stokdyk. The sleazy attorney was the guest star on last week's episode. Splendidly on every front. -
It keeps getting funnier and the guest spots from the VM stars have been great.
-
Had no idea it was such behind the scenes....Although now that you've said it, I recall that Rob Thomas was involved. I'll check it out then..Cheers!
Do your remember the hubub re: Veronica Mars movie? It was there for a bit - sounded really close actually - and now nothing. It's like Thomas was talking about it for a month or so - saying he was talking to execs and stuff - and now..nothing!
It's almost too late now. It would be like a Freaks & Geeks movie or a Life Goes On movie - there were and are some spectacular TV series that just has to catch the wave. Most of the stars have gone on to better things.
However, I will say that a new Buffyverse movie would still be viable. Shocker, I know! But hear me out. Not only have the comics done exceeding well (Buffy S8, Angel:AtF & Spike) and kept them in the peripheral edges of fandom,; none of the actors seem to be doing that well. Or should I say, as well that they could be doing. -
has given Boreanz more exposure than he ever got playing Angel. I didn't mean to sound like I poop on any of the actors that have broken out from the 'Verse. Alyson Hannigan is doing spectacular on How I Met Your Mother. I was just pointing out that because of the comics, "it" hasn't faded. The mythology goes on. And to be honest, I watch Bones sometimes and I think, "Man. Angel has gotten kinda pussy." Yes, I have a problem.

02. Strike!
Music and Lyrics by Joss Whedon
Performed by the Writers
WHEN YOU START NEGOTIATIONS
WITH INTEGRITY AND PATIENCE
AND THEY JUST CRY “BATTLE STATIONS!”
WHAT’S TO LIKE?
WHEN YOU ASK A SMALL AMOUNT AND
THEN ENCOUNTER COUNTER’S COUNTER
AND THE DEAL IS TANTAMOUNT TO
“TAKE A HIKE”
YOU CAN’T SIT AROUND WITH YOUR HEAD IN THE SAND
YOU PULL IT OUT, YOU STAND UP AND
YOU STRIKE
WHEN YOU HEAR THEIR LAWYERS TALKING
SAYING OUR BEHAVIOR’S SHOCKING
IT’S CONVINCING AS A COCKNEY
DICK VAN DYKE
WHEN THEY LEAVE THE TOWN UNSTABLE
THEN THEY COME BACK TO THE TABLE
AND SAY “NOW WE SHOULD ABLE –
KIDDING! PSYCH!”
WE ASK THEM FOR BREAD AND GET “LET THEM EAT CAKE”
THEY FIGURE A STOMACH ACHE WILL BREAK
THE STRIKE
SO STRIKE
FOR ALL THE WRITERS
STRIKE
FOR A LIVING WAGE
UNTIL THESE WRONGS ARE RIGHTED
WE WON’T WRITE ANOTHER PAGE
Jed:
WIPE OFF THAT SMILE – THE STYLE IS BILE
AND RAGE IS ALL THE RAGE
AS THE FALL TURNS INTO WINTER
THERE APPEARS A BUNCH OF SPLINTER
GROUPS WHO WONDER WHAT THIS INTER-
NET IS LIKE
WHILE THE TIDE IS TURNING TEPID
AND THE TOWN IS FEELING TREPID-
ATIOUS TIME FOR US TO STEP UP
TO THE MIC
WE’VE GOT ALL THESE DYNAMITE PLOTS TO USE
IT’S TIME TO LIGHT THE FUSE OR LOSE
THE STRIKE
Joss:
AND LOSE WE DID
IMPRESSIVELY
All:
SLUNK BACK TO OUR OFFICES
DECLARING VICTORY
IF YOU NEED YOUR RESIDUAL
WHY DID YOU ALL AGREE
I’M PROUD I WALKED THE LINE
WITH WRITERS, FANS AND FRIENDS OF MINE
BUT NOW I ASK WHAT WAS IT FINALLY ABOUT
AND YEARS FROM NOW I’LL TELL MY TYKE
JUST WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO STRIKE
OUT.
(This song was on the Dr. Horrible DVD where they *sang* the commentary instead of talking. It's was and is, fucking amazing.)
-
That cut & paste came out totally shouting but I swear, I'm not. Now.
I think I'm having a Dollhouse withdrawl... -
to the people pimping this show, what was your opinion of the first episode? I watched and thought it was pretty meh and havent gone back since. But it seems like it could have been funny. If you're telling me you like the current eps and the pilot, well then its not for me.
-
But it suffers from a very bland leading man. The Unusuals though is the most refreshing take on the cop genre this decade.
-
Is is wrong I've been feeling that withdrawl all day? Just when I wrote it off as a failed experiment, each episode keeps getting me hooked in further and further.
-
I hear more and more spoilers about the 13th episode and I die a little. It sounds like the most way out, amazing thing. And Whedon knows he's on a time limit. During Paleyfest, Joss said they are only scratching the surface of the Dollhouse but they are "really scratching deep until it bleeds."
-
Joss said this song was written in relation to Dollhouse:
11. HEART, BROKEN
Music and Lyrics by Joss Whedon
Performed by Joss Whedon
A CAVEMAN PAINTED ON A CAVE
IT WAS A BISON, WAS A FAVE
THE OTHER CAVE-PEOPLE WOULD RAVE –
THEY DIDN’T ASK “WHY?”
WHY PAINT A BISON IF IT’S DEAD
WHEN DID YOU CHOOSE THE COLOR RED
WHAT WAS THE PROCESS IN YOUR HEAD
HE TOLD THEIR STORY
WHAT CAME BEFORE HE DIDN’T SHOW
WE’RE NOT SUPPOSED TO
HOMER’S ODYSSEY WAS SWELL
A BUNCH OF GUYS THAT WENT THROUGH HELL
HE TOLD THE TALE BUT DIDN’T TELL
THE AUDIENCE WHY
HE DIDN’T SAY, HERE’S WHAT IT MEANS
AND HERE’S A FEW DELETED SCENES
CHARYBDIS TESTED WELL WITH TEENS
HE’S NOT THE STORY
HE’S JUST A DOOR WE OPEN IF
OUR LIVES NEED LIFTING
BUT NOW WE PICK PICK
PICK PICK PICK IT APART
OPEN IT UP TO FIND THE
TICK TICK TICK OF A HEART
A HEART, BROKEN
IT’S BROKEN BY THE ENDLESS LOADS
OF MAKING-OFS AND MOBISODES
THE TIE-INS, PREQUELS, GAMES AND CODES
THE AUDIENCE BUYS
THE NARRATIVE DIES
STRETCHED AND TORN
HEY, SPOILER WARNING:
WE’RE GONNA PICK PICK
PICK PICK PICK IT APART
OPEN IT UP TO FIND THE
TICK TICK TICK OF A HEART
A HEART, BROKEN
Jed:
JOSS, WHY DO YOU RAIL AGAINST THE BIZ
YOU KNOW THAT’S JUST THE WAY IT IS
YOU’RE MAKING EVERYBODY MIZ
Zack:
THESE OUT-OF-DATE PHILOSOPHIES
ARE FOR THE DINNER TABLE, PLEASE
WE HAVE TO SELL SOME DVD’S
Jed, Maurissa, Zack:
WITHOUT THESE THINGS YOU SPIT UPON
YOU’D FIND YOUR FAME AND FANBASE GONE
Maurissa:
YOU’D BE IGNORED AT COMIC-CON
Joss:
I SANG SOME THINGS I DIDN’T MEAN
OKAY, LET’S TALK ABOUT THIS SCENE
I THINK IT’S GREAT HOW RYAN GREEN -
OH THIS IS NO GOOD
I THOUGHT J-MO WOULD BACK MY PLAY
NOW ZACK AND THEY ALL SAY
WE’RE GONNA PICK PICK
PICK PICK PICK YOU APART
OPEN YOU UP AND STOP THE
TICK TICK TICK OF A HEART
A HEART…

And Giles just came back from England to meet Buffy alive and seemingly well in the "Magic Box".
*teary-eyed* -
In my opinion, each episode was better than the previous one (although some prefer the sensors that couldn't see African-Americans over the latest one)
-
When Pam pulled the cheesepuff out of her hairand flicked it off screen, we should have heard an off screen chomp. That would have made me giggle at least.
-
Shameless is the best everest most cutting edgiest groundbreakingest television ever.
So say we fucking all! -
Damn funny ending shot for episode 12.
-
I got two episodes into it this season before giving up on it.
-
If he does, perhaps I should contact Harry because I honestly think I could do a better job. Every week it's the same junk- some random crazy special on amazon, a Lost talkback, crap about BSG, Dollhouse (or anything Whedon related), and the use of the word "penultimate".Even if a show isn't going off the air, he works that word in somehow.
-
for real.
-
Kenny fuckin' Powers.
-
Shut the hell up, cotton.
-
If not, then shut the fuck up. You're not worthy of coaxial.
-
thank you for reminding me why Whedon sucks a fat one.
-
What does that even mean? What standard am I measured by? Believe you me, I could post Joss Whedon tributes, Office clips from NBC, and summaries of SNL (where I would always make fun of the people who say SNL is no longer funny) with the very best of them. Difference is, I may have some new tricks that would make a good coaxial better.
-
Sorry I hurt everyone's feelings. You'd think I attended a tea party on tax day with the reaction I'm getting. Herc holds a grudge. I would be more diplomatic. If people were clamouring for a talkback for a specific show week in and week out, I'd give em one.
-
You're so clever.
-
that people think Herc reads through mostly ANY of these TBs with asshats railing on him like this. It's one thing to clamor for specific talkbacks, it's another thing to be flat-out insulting for no reason whatsoever than you want Herc's job (I got some 'Cool News' for you people who also get onto AICN to complain how shitty it is...Harry probably doesn't read these either, because you're all using HIS site to bitch at him! Shocking, right?! Maybe you should go start your own fucking website and wait for the asshole trolls like YOU to come start complaing that you don't have a fucking Gossip Girl TB because...*SHOCK*...YOU might not like the show!! Because it's YOUR website!! That's at you, Cotton; you've got a better Coaxial, start it. Gimmie a link. I'll check it out with an open mind an opinion that you can't spare for AICN)
Wasn't this an Office talkback? If you don't like the Office, more power to you. But if not, FUCK off.
And Wow, ErnestBorgNine, thank you for reminding ME why jerks who post random, insulting comments for no real reason and with absolutely no backing evidence or point of reference are complete and utter cuntholes. I'd almost forgotten. -
I really didn't mean that as an insult to you. You think US Office (particularly this season) sucks, your opinion, you're completely entitled to it (I realize I said 'Fuck off' as if I was saying, 'If you don't like this show then go away!' I'm all for differing opinions...I just would hope for some citing of why you think it sucks, so we can open a dialogue about it; just spouting 'It sucks' doesn't really prove your point).
Mostly I was saying, sincerely, why the need to bash on Herc? If you have a better idea for a website, start it. Make a blog, blogspot's got plenty of room, and I'll be the first one there offering my honest opinion and trying to back up what I'm saying. Open dialogue, that's what it's all about. -
I'd agree with you IF it weren't for the fact that Herc has posted some genuinely bogus bullshit. Like that time he dedicated a column and talkback to America's Next Top Model because a transgender was a contestant. Why was that AICN worthy? Oh, right, because the homophobes hereabouts would drive up traffic in that TB. He's done other shit like that before, but that one really stuck out to me.
-
Y'know, fair point. For the status AICN has established for itself as a genre/cult website some things Herc reports on are a bit out of place (admittedly the 'Milf Island/Cougar' show on TV Land TB had me shaking my head a bit). What I was trying to say, is I don't know why anyone thinks Herc actually reads through most of these TBs, when nearly every comment towards him is clamoring for another TB or outright insulting him. Constructive criticism is one thing, random posts about 'how much something sucks' are just uncalled for.
-
No, you're right. It's hardly constructive for people to say things like, "Herc, please write a Supernatural column OR YOU'RE A HERPES-LADEN FUCKTARD GRAAAAAGH!" The thing is, he HAS responded in the past to call-outs in TBs. Particularly the SNL ones. I think most recently I saw him respond to something in a Futurama TB. It happens.

I would have to flat out say that "those lyrics that Joss Whedon wrote are really corny and awful and I'm glad I'm not so soft-headed as to love his kind of drivel." I thought saying "Joss Whedon sucks a fat one" on a non-Whedon related talkback after someone Whedon-blasted it would be sufficient.

And not just randomly trolling with insults. And fair 'nuff, a Whedon TB this ain't, I see you as having a valid point in that respect.
Insulting for the sake of the insult is mean-spirited and serves no purpose save pissing people off. Are we here to talk about stuff, opposing viewpoints or not, or are we here to hurl random insults around to try to be mean? 'Cause that second one means you're a troll. -
I never expected him to read it, and I didn't write it so I could send him a message or get on his nerves. I was just spouting off an opinion, like everyone else here. I agree with you- if I want to the job so badly, I should start my own site. But the truth is, I don't. If it was a paying gig, sure. I guess my point is, I don't think Herc does a very good job. But it's a "if you don't smoke Tarryltons.. fuck you!" type of thing. I get that.

No excuse for me, I've had a bad couple of days that came out in a drunken post on AICN (very healthy, I know). Trolls just getting the better of me, and I do apologize.
And I couldn't be mad at you anyway; you're screen name's Cotton McKnight and you just made an Idiocracy reference. Dodgeball & Idiocracy = Hilarious. :) -
even the Veridian commercials are laugh out loud
