south park is huge in terms of influence and pop culture. even if you hated the fish sticks(dicks) episode you probably heard at least 5 of your friends say "do you like fish sticks?" after the episode aired.

Sometimes I wonder if trey and matt come up with weird sayings and ideas just to see if people will jump on and try to be cool by reciting something south park said. after the manbearpig episode aired I couldn't believe how many people started saying "I'm super serial" instead of serious and shit like that.

i'm looking forward to tonights episode. there hasn't been a bad south park in my opinion. just ones that aren't as epic as others.

couple of years ago, at peabody awards, matt and trey said that BSG is off limits.
although, in go god go pt.1 miss/mr/whatever garrison was behaving awfully a lot like six when around dawkins. now this isn't exactly tearing or making fun of galactica, but I guess it might mean that it isn't off limits, so the emphasis on "plan" in promos might be a sign that they're gonna blast battlestar finale tonight...

I never won and everyone seemed better at building their car then we were. I'm not sure that I learned much that was useful in BS. I was led to believe it would be fun. It was more like an extra hour of gym class except with voluntary studying involved. Like kids don't have enough of that in school where it's actually important. False advertising.

That seems to have become a new trend with the last couple seasons, but with just one more episode left for the first half of this season, it looks like we're not getting a really good 2 or 3-part story. Tonight's episode seemed really lazy and uninspired, which doesn't bode well for next week's final episode.

    3D pinewood car

    by anything but tangerines

Was it season 4 or 5 when they started to say "fuck it" and abandon what made the show's animation special? I'm not asking for a return to paper stop-motion, but there is a line and they crossed it last night. I'll admit to the occasional chuckle at something unnecessarily detailed and realistic on SP, it can be funny if done right. If they now have to have a 3D model for a god damn pinewood car, even if it is the focus of the episode, it's gone too far. There is hardly any charm to the animation anymore. The characters and writing are keeping the show strong, but they do not warrant these epic productions and complex animation.

When I was a kid I watched some of the episodes from its earlier seasons and thought it was retarded as shit but after watching the WoW episode, More Crap and Guitar Queer-O, I started to love the show. For example, a co-worker whose tastes and opinion I respect very much LOVED the Guinea Pig episodes from last season. I thought they were extremely lame except for Craig. I didn't think that Fishsticks was all that good, except for the Kanye stuff at the end. But I know there's someone out there who's a diehard fan and thinks last night's ep was the best ever. I guess that's a key to the show's lasting success. The one exception to all this being that godawful Oprah episode... that one just sucked.

    Maybe south park

    by lonniebeale

Has outgrown some of you. If you don't like, don't watch. I personally think some of the best television ever has come out of the last couple years of South Park.

That was fucked up even by South Park standards. Awesome!

    by tallboy66

I got a HUGE kick out of this episode. A space alien that talked like a 1920s Gangster? How could you not laugh at that? That was awesomely weird and stream-of-consciousness. Unlike most episodes, this had NO POINT and NO METAPHOR and NO PARODY or anything. And it was great. In fact, the alien plot really gave it an old-school South Park vibe where there were aliens in almost every other episode. Fun stuff.

I liked this episode was better than The Coon

    by tallboy66

Seriously, that was just a one-note Batman parody (nicely directed in parts, though). This one you DID NOT see coming at all. That's what made it gold. "Really? Space Jail? Space Cash? Are you people retarded?"

  • Leia was good, Nuking Finland was good, suicide dad good, but well.. that's it basically. 3 more gags than most shows but pretty dull for South Park.
And BTW don't confuse an alien spaceship landing with an actual parody of every Science Fiction Movie that has an alien spaceship landing in it.
Some people need to learn the difference between the Meet the Spartans idea of "satire" and the real thing. The Coon was a prime example of South Park falling on the wrong side of it and the plot of this was much the same and pretty meh.
Luckily South Park still manages one or two good laughs even in the drearier Eps but to pretend it's all the same superb quality is absolute horseshit.

I think its best to watch the show from the start (and you can watch 'em all at SouthParkStudios.com), because the show has evolved considerably, and its often helpful to know the back story. BUT if I were to pick the best "relevant" episodes of the first 11 seasons, I'd go with the following: Big Gay Al's Big Gay Boat Ride, Mr Hankey the Christmas Poo (S1), Sexual Harassment Panda (S3), Timmy 2000, Chef Goes Nanners, Do the Handicapped Go To Hell/Probably, The Wacky Molestation Adventure (S4), Scott Tenorman Must Die, Cripplefight, Butter's Very Own Episode (S5), Red Hot Catholic Love (S6),***Death Camp of Tolerance***(S7), Up the Down Steroid, Goobacks, Douche and Turd, Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset, Woodland Critters Christmas (S8), Best Friends Forever, Two Days Befor the Day After Tomorrow, Ginger Kids, Trapped in the Closet (S9), Cartoon Wars I and II, Make Love Not Warcraft, Mystery of the Urinal Deuce, Go God Go I and II, (S10), With Apologies to Jessie Jackson, Cartman Sucks, Fantastic Easter Special, Imginationland Trilogy (S11) (Yep, there's a lot, but we are talking 11 seasons here).

    Finland!

    by squarebird

Yes - that alone makes this a top episode. If you don't know why that is so funny ... google some Finnish history. The genius of SouthPark is that they don't explain the reference material for their parodies .. they assume the audience is informed or is smart enough to get informed.

    I was pretty bored until

    by smackfu

Baby Fark McGeezax showed up and the words 'space cash' were first uttered, from that point on it was genius. It may not have been particularly clever or cohesive, but one thing it was, was batshit, random and absurd.
