Edgar Wright begins his Scott Pilgrim production diaries!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I love me some video production diaries. When Peter Jackson was doing them for KING KONG it was like crack for me. I loved the as-it-happens look inside film production. Edgar Wright and his team did some video blogs for HOT FUZZ (which were hilarious) and now he's starting them up again on Scott Pilgrim.
The first has hit as well as a brand new site for the film (Appropriately called www.scottpilgrimthemovie.com). It's an introduction, but you get to see the cast playing with swords and stunt guys being a hundred times cooler than I'll ever be.
I'm also keeping up with edgarwrighthere.com where he's posting a photo a day, a great idea and one I've been enjoying immensely.
Here's the first video production diary for Scott Pilgrim! Enjoy!

Looking forward to it.

Can't wait!!!

It seems like it is one of the new things that hipsters love to name drop and proclaim their love for in order to appear more artistically in tune than the "Regulars". But then again, I live in LA and am surrounded by hipsters, so what do I know?
-
dont know much about the property, but looks intriguing..
-
Love his work and his personality.
-
Sounds like you know your "HIPSTERS". Sure you aren't one?!?! :oP I don't know any so I've never heard the name "DROPPED" in that context...of course I don't live in LA...
-
...but it sure smells good!
-
Or does he just want to work out with the cast like Zack Snyder? And is Brandon Routhe or Chris Evans the final boyfriend?
-
It has become a hipster trend. And it pisses me off to no end because it took me almost three months to get my hands on a copy of volume 5 when I've been reading the series since it started in 2004. I hope Michael Cera chokes on a dick and dies.
-
Wow it's amazing. I so want to pick them all up. I'm really looking forward to the movie.
-
is jason schwartzman.
i think.

And is Brandon "Routhe or Chris Evans the final boyfriend?"
by Calibos's Ginger JewFro
Evans is the Second (Lucas Lee) and Routhe the Third (Todd). Schwartzman is Gideon, the final.
-
Hopefully the hipster fad will die out soon.
-
...but even I'll be shocked if Michael Cera can pull off playing the character as he is in the books. To me, Cera seems nothing like the Scott Pilgrim comic book character. But I do think Michael Cera is awesome (YEAR ONE looks hilarious mostly thanks to him) so hopefully he can pull it off.

This material is perfectly suited to Wright's style.
-
...he should be immediately cast as FREAKAZOID! In the live-action STEVEN SPIELBERG PRESENTS FREAKAZOID! movie. What the hell is taking Hollywood so long to make that? Steven Spielberg, wake up!
-
I recognize stunt coordinator Bradley James Allen from the Jackie Chan stunt team. He did the two fight scenes, as an actor, with Jackie Chan in Gorgeous.
-
Makes me want to work in movies that much more...

and AMEN to a Freakzoid movie!
-
This material is perfectly suited to Wright's style.
-
What exactly is a hipster? I'm from the UK so I wouldn't know. I seems to me like a hipster is just 'someone who's cooler than you are'?
-
cue 'A-Team' theme with techno beat.
-
SOmeone convinced they are cooler than you are based purely on their "ironic" attire.
-
...would appear to be someone that a lot of talkbackers seem extremely worried about and fascinated by.
-
I loved this comic but they should just show the cast doing their thing and less of the director attempting to be cute or whatever it is he's doing in this video.
-
I agree, Edgar! That was a cool video and I'm excited to see the upcoming blogs and the film. In all honesty, I've never ever heard of Scott Pilgrim in any form, so this is all new for me.
Good luck!
-
because that's what cool people do.
Scott Pilgrim is actually sort of dorky. In an awesome way.
-
Definitely agree with the comment.
-
Since its an introductory video not sure why you think he wouldn't be in it a lot.
-
In the Easter Bunny movie, Edgar Wright would be amazing in the lead role. I've no doubts Hollywood will make this movie, because its far too moronic for the studios to pass up. And I know Wright would be on board, because its just so brilliantly fucking ridiculous. Plot is inconsequential, though I'm imagining Nick Frost being tormented by the EB for all past transgressions against his chocolate, floppy eared brothers.

People who hate hipsters are probably ones themselves.
by gnarwhal_evan
People who are worried about what others enjoy, and it possibly tainting it, are hipsters... which is almost every talkbacker... ever?

I live in Toronto (in Cabbagetown), and my lawn is covered in fake snow for a scene in this movie.

Is your house just a door in the ground, between too tree's and stuff? Also, I spotted Stephen Stills in that clip. Very exciting. Who is playing Kim Pine? I love Kim Pine!

Hipsters flaunt, but cool people are just cool.
by Stereotypical Evil Archer
That's the deepest thing I've ever said about shallow people.

if anyone on here has scene any episode of spaced they know damn well that edgar wright can do scott pilgrim. spaced is basically scott pilgrim the series. cera on the other i'm not so sure about. scott pilgrim is supposed to be really over the top and enthusiastic. micheal cera is always just soft spoken and awkward... in a hilarious kinda way of course. but only time will tell if he can pull off enthused to an anime level.
-
I always think he's Scott in the comics, they look very similar.
-
Hey Edgar!Whatever happenned to my Black Hole vinyl-rip CD?
-
Usually where they sell ironic clothing from the 80's. Urban Outfitters comes to mind. They often gather wherever there is a Wes Anderson film playing. I recall when they actually dressed well so I'm not sure why the times have changed the way they have. They also seem to have a love/hate affair with technology. I've seen them go with IPods but I've also seen them shell out cash for a record player. To witness them in their natural habitat, stake out a spot in Los Feliz. I do expect their breeding cycles to slow in the near future thanks to onset of skinny jeans.
-
I hope he proves me wrong... The thing about Scott is he's a ferris bueller "himbo" type. He's got to have a charm that allows for lucky breaks or people to be drawn to him. Cera is a bit too meek and uncharismatic. Plus Scott is a good fighter that can handle himself pretty confidently. I just dont see cera pulling that off.

london, manchester, leeds ny and la is where they are most prominent. i hate the pretentious fuckers.
