Mike Judge's EXTRACT with Bateman, Kunis and Affleck gets a trailer!

Published at:  Apr 08, 2009 7:42:51 PM CDT

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. The good folks at Cinematical and the dastardly Drew McWeeny at Hitfix have gotten some kind of duo trailer debut of Mike Judge's next comedy. So far the dude's batting a thousand for me. Fox royally screwed the pooch with IDIOCRACY, but that flick is finding a second life on cable and DVD, thank God. OFFICE SPACE is universally loved it seems and BEAVIS & BUTT-HEAD DO AMERICA is still hilarious. In fact, by sheer coincidence Isaac Hayes' Two Cool Dudes (Main theme for the Beavis & Butt-head movie) was on the iTunes when I stumbled across ErikDavis' Twitter update containing the link to the trailer.

There's a lot of talent in front of the camera... I think Jason Bateman's a great match for Judge's sensibilities and the trailer made me laugh, so that's all I need... oh, and Kristen Wiig and Mila Kunis are pretty. That is all.

Cough up a lung at Cinematical or view the embed below courtesy of Hitfix! It's good for ya'!

Idiocracy=not that great, with horrible cgi. Extract script=not

    by copontheedge

Judge REALLY needs to pull some awesome improv on the set because this script did NOT have the funny on the page. And I'm a big Judge fan, even though I admit Idiocracy is nowhere near as great as most followers want to believe. Oh, and the entire plot of Extract hinges on Bateman hiring a gigolo named "Brad" to seduce his wife so he can have carte blanche to bang the jeebus out of Mila Kunis. Be good to see a trailer that shows that setup some day soon.

    Comedy,here we go again

    by liljuniorbrown

Any time a comedy gets reviewed we end up in the same arguements of what's funny and whats not funny. To me, Idiocracy is funny and extremely smart mainly because of the state of society today. Morons and shallow people are worshiped and adored by a large section of America, and it seems like the true ididots amongst us are having as many children as possible.

Idiocracy is the most overrated, underrated film in history

    by rob0729

I loved Office Space, but I just found Idiocracy stupid and boring. I think the fact that it was directed by Mike Judge and is a movie that was so hyped by geek sites like this has convinced a lot of people that it is some kind of cult classic. I will give judge credit for coming up with an idea that seems to be coming true, but I thought the execution was lacking.
Maybe it is because I resent Dax Sheppard for nailing Kristen Bell everyday or something, but I don't get the popularity of the movie.

ok, so it wasn't Office Space

    by don_logan

BUT, it was (to me) an immensely entertaining skewering of the glorification of stupidity, which is, indeed, prophetic. not that it took a genius to recognize it. First of all, Camacho was hilarious, throughout. Hell, i can't STAND Dax Shephard, but even he was funny. To me, the real weak link was Mya Rudolph. even though she definitely represented a giant part of our cultural meltdown, she just really annoyed me, especially in the completely unnecessary "emotional" scenes with Luke Wilson. and, of course, Beef Supreme was brilliant.

looks so similar to something I've written that it hurts. Looks more "Office Space" than "Idiocracy" and that's a good thing. The humor looks subtler than the Apatow stuff we've been getting and the casting looks perfect (J.K. Simmons is the new Gary Cole).

I may be the only one, there were four people in each screening here in LA for both. (maybe the same four?) anyway if you judge a comedy based on how often you quote it and laugh, then those two movies based on that judgement are the best. I'm so there opening day for this.

    by superconcon

... for complaining about awful cgi in Idiocracy. Yeah, and the framework of the story is kinda lame too but it makes possible some of the best social satire in recent memory. And the image of that rubber phallus mounted to the front of the car at the end makes me giggle like Beavis. If you haters can't find the humor in this movie, maybe you need to make a trip to Starbucks and get loosened up.

BTW I'm sure someone has made this connection by now, but I saw some of the documentary 'American Pimp' a few months ago. The camera is capturing the pimp driver(it may have been Don Magic Juan)as he is describes his views on the pimp profession, when he pauses and points at a pedestrian as they pass, and he calls him UPGRADE, one of his competitors. Must be where Judge got the name Upgrayyed.
