Speaking of Broadway - FAME remake trailer hits...
Hey folks, Harry here... with a needless remake trailer. You know - I'm far more excited about the STEP IT UP 3D news, than a remake of FAME - especially when the remake's music is as flat sounding as this. It definitely looks like a handsome production, but there's nothing in the trailer that actually generates any real interest for me to see this film. Now XANADU remake? Put me all over that shit. That's awesome with honey, caramel and THC!

Ok - Now you see that trailer isn't about anything - and certainly not about FAME... whereas this trailer... This trailer really and truly sells the concept, the power of trying to pursue FAME by a really great director. Here ya go...
As for remaking it - why can't it star Kristen Bell?

Fame stole The Empire Strikes Back's Oscar for Original Score

Therefore, I shall hate it and thus its remake forever. That Oscar belonged to John Williams. John Williams knows it, the dude who won the Oscar knows it, hell, the whole world knows it. Empire deserved that Oscar based on The Imperial March alone. Definitely one of the Academy's biggest all-time fuck-ups.

The ideas keep on coming! Coming soon, an all-star cast in "TWITTER: THE MOVIE." A Xanadu remake would probably star Miley Cyrus. Don't know if the world is ready for that.

Can't do it because she has crow's feet and apparently cannot sing or dance terribly well (based on the embed). As for a reason to remake? It stars the lovely young dancer Kherington Payne. Reason enough.
Again Harry, you owe a pound of flesh for your Center Stage review from years back. You at least owe to this movie not to harsh until you've viewed. -

That trailer "sells the concept" because it's done with narrative, like ALL old trailers- "Meet CHRISTA.... she a good girl, just doing the right thing." BLAHBLAHBLAHBLAH.
We know what FAME is about. Who needs it explained? I personally find the 80s trailer boring as fuck. -
can't sing. That was terrible.
As for Fame, it can't be worse than RENT, what a horrible boring pretentious disaster that was... ("everybody has AIDS!"). -

This new one looks like shit. Why remake a movie like "Fame" when the original is more relevent and potent than anything they can produce today. The first movie meant something, this new one is an excuse for "pretty" people to prance around and dance.

The trailer for the original makes the movie look big, with big stories and big performances. The remake's trailer makes it look small.
If Hollywood HAD to make a Fame-esque movie for the 21st century, I would have preferred one that takes place at a high school for tech and computer nerds. That woulda been something different. -

As far as remakes/reboots/refucks go, I could give three shits if they making a fucking trilogy of Fame re-who-gives-a-shits. Make 12 of them, just stay the fuckity-fuck away from EXPLORERS.

A friend of a friend of mine has been cast in the lead...Sharni Vinson...one to watch. She'll be great in 3d...growl!

1: The original fame was incredibly gritty. New York was still cming throug the last recession. and this showed in the movie.
2: All the actors had a realness and deepness that most hollyweird casting agents would discard. All the kids seen their for the remake are all middle class American Idol gimps who havebnt sruggled.
3: The music: The music in the orignal Fame was proper musicianship nad the movie showed the work and graft that the students had to put into that music. The remake is gling to be full of jiggy gangsta rap and crappy Mary J Bilge wubbish.
The only way to make the Fame remake work is to show how vacuous and empty modern celebrity is in a ironic fashion. But we all know that wont happen. -

I don't give a crap about the movie, but why the barb at Mary J. Blige? She's a fantastic R&B singer and she has nothing to do with this flick. Leave out the gratutitous hate, will you?!!!!

The original was gritty. This will be a slick production like HS Musical 15. The original was about the people and their lives. This will be about American Idolesque performances. Might not, but sure looks like it will suck.
