A Quick Word On An Interesting James Bond Blu-Ray Offer Running This Week...

Merrick here...
...with a heads up about an interesting promotion regarding James Bond films on Blu-Ray. Best Buy currently has an exclusive packaging of Blu-Rays featuring QUANTUM OF SOLACE, THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN, and LICENSE TO KILL. What's worthy of note here is 1) the box set is on sale this week for $59, which breaks down to one of these titles costing only a few dollars. More interestingly, though, is that both MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN and LICENSE TO KILL won't be widely released until May 12 - so you'd be snagging these over a month before you can get them everywhere else. If you're a Geek like me & like to get things early, this is kinda cool. I've been loving watching the Bond films on Blu-Ray - the picture quality on the discs (the product of a painstaking restoration process for each film) is dazzling . Regardless of the series' admittedly spotty quality, you've never seen these movies look so great, and a few titles even take on a different tone/vibe when cleaned up like this. If you're a hardcore fan looking to fill out your Bond collection on Blu, or a casual fan who might wanna see what a few of your favorite Bond films look like in this format, the best pricing options for boxed sets can be found via Amazon - where Bond Blu-Ray boxed sets of Bond films (the ones released so far, at least) sell for $10-$20 cheaper than anywhere else on the Net. At least they're less expensive than anywhere else I could find - if this isn't the case, or if I missed a place with better prices, please steer the masses via the Talkbacks below. All titles included in boxed sets are also available as singles - but Amazon's pricing on the stand alone issues of the films doesn't seem to be as competitive as, say, Tower (HERE). But if you're into the boxed sets, DIE ANOTHER DAY, LIVE AND LET DIE, and DR. NO can be found HERE. FOR YOUR EYES ONLY, FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE, and THUNDERBALL can be found HERE. The recently issued MOONRAKER, THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH, and GOLDFINGER can be found HERE. Again, the above mentioned QUANTUM OF SOLACE (bundled with the LICENSE TO KILL and MAN WITH A GOLDEN GUN early releases) is exclusive to Best Buy. AND, I was unable to track down that set on Best Buy's site (HERE)...so be aware this may be in store only offer. BY THE WAY: does anyone out there know of great prices on the FAST AND THE FURIOUS Blu-Ray set that was just released? Universal Publicity completely ignored my phone call and two e-mails requesting a screener of the set. I wanted to put together a big retrospective piece on the previous films/new film from what I thought was an amusing/Geeky angle, but... (crickets) ...(shrugs)...maybe not...
