2nd Trailer for the 2nd Movie Titled THE TAKING OF PELHAM 123!

Published at:  Apr 01, 2009 4:44:43 AM CDT

Hey folks, Harry here... It's a shame when you love a film and you see that film getting remade. It's hard. Because EVERYTHING that I love about the original film isn't in this trailer. Seriously. Here's the new trailer: watch this trailer in HD Quicktime! Or watch here:

The Taking Of Pelham 1 2 3 trailer

Now is any of that cooler than this:

Ok - Now that's only about a 1000 times cooler - and it's just the score for the original over the opening titles on simple black. NOW - look at the original's trailer:

It seems that this new film is essentially an excuse to have Travolta and Washington acting at each other - And the film right now - at least via a trailer - it isn't exuding any kind of trace of "awesome" like the original does in spades in its trailer.

BUT - what if this film is badass? The screenplay for the new one is from one of my favorite screenwriters, Brian Helgeland. And Tony Scott more than has the capacity to make something cool. So far, I'm just not seeing it. What about y'all?

    by horace cox

I'm thoroughly unimpressed with both trailers. Looks like they are trading in all the subtlety and character development of the original for explosions and car wrecks. And what the fuck is with the wife from the first trailer? Looks like some bad acting from perennial hams Travolta and Denzel. I'll watch the original on DVD instead.

    by crow3711

The only good movie he has ever made was True Romance, and lets face it, that was because of the fun freshness of Tarantino's script. His shooting style is garbage, his stories are fucking trash, and he's only allowed to direct because of his bro. Such a hack, I'm so sick of his terrible movies. People always pretend they like these original movies everytime a remake is announce. Truth be told 98% of the ppl have never even thought about seeing the orignal Pelham or even know of it.I like Walter but its not like the original was gold or some shit. It was a an ok film that was kinda boring and anti-climatic.If ppl want to see and cherish the original Pelham its right there to rent or Netflix but these "pretenders" know they could give two nuts about the Walter and the original Pelham. This looks good compare to the GIJOE and TRANSFORMERS shit that coming down the pike and will do nothing but CGI everything scene from scene.

in the NEW Fast and Furious movie where that obvious CGI tanker rolling. At least Tony Scott gives us real stunt and not CGI scenes to insult us. We're so used to CGI laden movies that some of us can't even appreciate real stuntwork. It is this reason that The Expendable will probably break ahead of its budget by a slight margin. The new generation can't appreciate real action movies involving real stunts. Its just too much awesomeness for them to handle. They can't bear the fact that someone may have been hurt or killed performing these stunts. CGI car chases, fight scenes, and explosions help these weak individuals sleep comfortably without nightmares. Bay and his CGI lapdogs knows that the new gen will drop buckets for their shit and claim they have just witness the best movie of their lives!

I'm very fond of the original film - Matthua vs Shaw? Great stuff! But this looks like it could be some decently entertaining Friday night film. I'm kinda hoping they've put ALL the action beats in the trailer and that there'll be lots more character and crackling dialogue in the actual movie. A Crimson Tide with a Subway rather than a submarine will do me – and Scott and Washington always deliver some good often exciting watchable gubbins – in the aforementioned Crimson Tide, and Man on Fire and Déjà vu. And Déjà vu. I’m not bothering with Transformers 2 so this movie can have its custom for me.

Yes, remakes suck for the most part (most recently remakes of films made not more than 10 years ago), but you know what? OH HELL YEAH! THAT WAS A GOOD TRAILER!

    by the_genteel_gentile

I'm talking about the new Tony Scott! Gave away too much plot perhaps, but I've seen the original so that's not bothering me. The music isn't even really my type, but that trailer seriously rocked. You know that feeling when you eat a starburst candy and the pleasure synapses in the back of you're brain start popping off? - That's what Tony Scott just did to me. I don't know what 'scratching' people are talking about, I thought at first it was going to be that horrible digitally imposed trailer film scratches like they put on Grindhouse, Rambo and Punisher ads. Maybe there was record scratches or something on the soundtrack, because the picture looked beautiful and slick. I can't even fathom what would compel a person to try and make an argument that Tony Scott sucks or that he's only allowed to direct because of Ridley. Tony is one of the absolute godfathers of the modern action movie, and he's still out there inovating and pushing action filmmaking. Forget True Romance, this guy made Revenge, The Hunger, Beverly Hills Cop 2, Last Boy Scout, Crimson Tide, Spy Game, Man On Fire...I mean, people. Sincerly. TONY SCOTT IS AWESOME! Top Gun, Days Of Thunder, The Fan, Enemy Of The State, Deja Vu - all this guys flicks are cool in a very pleasurable way. Who, I ask has a better, more prolific and illustrious action resume? I promise, you that hate Tony Scott reveil yourselves as haters of cinema in general. Guys an absolute genius at what he does, no question. Haters - you all are some looney nerds, quite making unfounded defemations. I'm convinced alot of you all don't even bother watching movies, you see a minute or two one day on TV and make a bold difinitve statement about that film or it's makers some mounths later. You act like you saw the volley-ball scene while channel surfing on tv when you were 11 and dicided right there on the spot that whoever made you feel this way about Val Kilmer sucks. Haha, I'm close aren't I? I'm just joking, but for real...Name me ten, hell I'll take five, FIVE better action directors in all the history of cinema, and I'll call you a liar. Don't make me do it, in fact if you can give me 5 names above T.Scott in the action genre, let's just assume you've already been identified as insincere and leave it at that. So what do you got? I got Cameron, Spielberg, McTiernan and maybe, MAYBE Donner! Bay doesn't count because he assentially just plagerizes T.Scott, Cameron and a bit of Spielberg. In fact anyone else in the running just copies those afore mentioned. I would actually accept Mel Gibson if he'd just made a few more movies, because I thing his action style is brilliant. Don't dare say Ridley, because Tony is far more proficient at an action sequence than his brother has ever been. Alright I'm not even gonna argue about it, my point's been made and now I'm off...

You know, Michael Bay does actually do more practical effect than any other filmmaker in the history of action filmmaking. So I'm not sure why he should be synonymous with CG. Nobody spends more time, effort, money, and sweat making eloborate explosions and car crashes practically. I mean some things are beyond feasibility. Trasforming robots are actually impossible to build, so you know. I think the people who truely deserve your scorn for relying on their "CG lapdogs" would be Lucas, Emmerich, Rodriguez, Cohen, Singelton, Bekmambetov and Tamahori. Those guys are shameless with their CG, they have no excuse except lazyness and ineptitude. I give Bay some credit, he usually doesn't go CG unless it's the only option to achieve what's needed, and even then surrounds it with as much practical atmosphere and FX as possible. Other than that I agree with you.

    by kellyman1970

The remake trailer feels like something from the mid 90's. That bad hard core industrial rock music playing, who listens to that stuff? I mean really, Tony Scott has become his own cliche. (He needs Yoko as music supervisor.) Unfortunaltley his recent work looks all interchangeable. Thats too bad because he is one of the nicest men in the world. I love the original film. It is an underrated classic. If you are a lover of film, you need to see the original. It's an amazing balance of suspense and humor and the score. one of the best of all time. I will see this remake but will walk out if it opens to a industrial rock version of the original theme. Its not a film, it is a remake. Know the difference!

I like A Perfect Circle but didnt realize it was their music in the trailer. not one i know and certainly not the best. the only reason they used that APC song was because they are one of the better bands making that type of music. Awesome title cue up there with Dirty Harry and Magnum force for 70's atonal funk!

I like the new slow motion, blurry images in the new trailer. I also like to the cool rock type music. I'm an idiot because I hate things old. I also hate originality so I love all these remakes coming out. Yip-ee.

You are a 1000% right. Tony Scott is an incredible director, and I look forward to all his movies. He is still our best working action director and I have no problem with remaking Pelham. In fact, I probably would of never seen or heard of Pelham if it were not for this remake. So I would like to thank Scott for putting me onto such an awesome movie.
