Updated w/ Response From Fox! We Don't Want Your WOLVERINE Reviews!!!
Beaks here...
Not yet, at least. Not until the film screens in an actual theater. Because the only way you're seeing it right now is through illegal channels, and we're not going to condone that.
I hate running this story, but the deluge is about to come. Forums on other movie news sites are already overrun with links and reactions to a fairly high quality studio workprint that leaked this evening - and I don't care to comment on any of it because I don't want to encourage piracy at a time when the studios are laying off employees in droves. This is bad, bad, bad for the business.
But it's also unprecedented. While I don't know if this is the biggest film to ever leak (back in 2007, there were reports of SPIDER-MAN 3 rips turning up in China a week prior to release), I can't think of a single $100 million-plus summer tentpole that hit the internet a full month early. This is significant because, as Drew posted at HitFix, no matter how hard Fox cracks down on this leak, the toothpaste is out of the tube. If you want to watch WOLVERINE online, you're not going to have to work too hard to find it.
And then there's the matter of sharing your reaction. That's where I'm struggling. While we can control what we post to the site, there are these pesky little things called talkbacks where folks can write pretty much whatever they please so long as they're not advocating genocide or disparaging Vic Tayback. I called Harry the minute I knew this leak was real (on April 1st of all days), and we went back and forth on how to handle this. I considered disabling talkbacks for this story, but knew that the discussion would just bleed into other stories. Then I floated the idea of banning anyone who expressed an opinion based on the workprint, but quickly realized that would be a moderating nightmare.
There's really nothing we can do aside from report on the leak and let you steer the discussion. If you're excited for WOLVERINE and don't want to be spoiled on the kickoff to Summer '09, I'd stay far away from this talkback. Hopefully, most of you will do the honorable thing and not download the movie. Ball's in your court. All I can promise is that we won't run a single review until the movie screens for press (be it junket or otherwise). And, yes, I'm well aware that we're in a gray area here.
The following statement was just issued by Fox re: the leak of the WOLVERINE workprint:
Last night, a stolen, incomplete and early version of X-Men Origins: Wolverine was posted illegally on websites. It was without many effects and had missing scenes and temporary sound and music. We immediately contacted the appropriate legal authorities and had it removed. We forensically mark our content so we can identify sources that make it available or download it. The source of the initial leak and any subsequent postings will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law - the courts have handed down significant criminal sentences for such acts and the last person who committed such a crime is still in jail. The FBI and the MPAA also are actively investigating this crime. We are encouraged by the support of fansites condemning piracy and this illegal posting and pointing out that such theft undermines the enormous efforts of the filmmakers and actors, and above all, hurts the fans of the film.

And for those of you who questioned our motives in posting this story: "We are encouraged by the support of fansites condemning piracy and this illegal posting and pointing out that such theft undermines the enormous efforts of the filmmakers and actors, and above all, hurts the fans of the film."

I mean i'm not the most honest guy on the planet but that's kind of shitty.
-
that would have to have been the biggest leak in the history of film.
-
I fell for it.
-
Seriously. I hate shit quality, illegal copies of movies. Whenever a friend of mine offers me a movie of dubious origin, i always pass. I LOVE my movies, as much as anyone else on this site. So how can i condone watching an illegal version that hurts the industry and looks like crap. I want to enjoy the experience. Large screen. Great sound. Via a cinema screening or on nifty blu ray. I'll be avoiding this at all costs and cursing the bejesus outta anyone who spoils it for me on the TB's.
-
The date is just a co0inky dink dudes. It's real as he...scratch that, I mean it's as real as Tom Rothman's douchey-ness.
-
Kudos...but i still stand by my rant.
-
see for yourself.
-
I was hoping to read a review or 2. Oh well, May is going to rock! Wolverine, Star Trek, T4. Bow chica wow wow.
-
Honest injun!
-
but it has been all over the place, news-wise. Though, I haven't necessarily seen any lay-man reactions, though I haven't really checked out any forums. So what say you, John Q. Public? Shitty? Did the Re-shoots save it?
-
turns out it's the workprint and not even fully complete. the new scenes that were recently added to beef up the movie are not included in the workprint. the cgi is missing and the movie looks horrible without it. yes i downloaded it and watched it and know the story somewhat but trust me even if you see the workprint you're still going to have to go see in the theater to fully experiance the full movie with cgi effects fully intact. trust me without the cgi this movie looks terrible and cheesy. so yeah you can watch the workprint and then go watch the real full movie in the theater and see what changes they've made and what cgi they improved on, which would be all the cgi. some of the mutants abilities and appearances look stupid without the cgi.
-
Anything you can ambiguously discuss without really ruining anything about it?
-
AICN has grown Big Balls good on you guys!!
-
It's pretty meh. I also just watched Terminator Salvation, Avatar and Star Wars Episode 7. Spoiler alert: Jar Jar Binks is the new galactic emperor.
-
Nothing i can discuss that you can't see for yourself. it's everywhere iamnicksaincnsn. just get a copy. apparently this version is pre-reshoots but honestly....i doubt those help that much. it seems beyond fixing.

we don't condone piracy, but its easy to get if you want it!
by BMacSmith
piracy sucks, but what can you do?
-
It's not an April Fools joke. It's not done by any means, while the quality of the transfer is perfect quality, any scene with CGI is unfinished to say the least. Most of the time it's just untextured standins. The movie itself is unfinished too, as the final version will have 20 more minutes added to it. As it is, it's not horrendous. It's got a lot of stupid in it, but a bit of awesome as well (Unexpected cameo at the end was terrific) and Liev Shrieber pulls off a really great Sabretooth, though why he has transformed into Tyler Mane by the time the first movie rolls around is completely left unexplained. How Logan's memory is lost is idiotic as well. Gambit is pulled off about as well as anyone, though I wasn't really feeling the actor. The main plot is kinda meandering, and there were a few random mutants that weren't fleshed out and just as quickly disposed of. Ryan Reynolds was great as Deadpool, until they screwed him up at the end. Interesting but way too short fight at the end too, and the entire Sabretooth vs Wolverine plot is also dropped... Yeah, it needs another 20 minutes, much of it needs fleshed out more, as it is it's a very light summer flick that will come out one week and be blown away the next (Star Trek seems like the better movie if the trailers are any indication). In the X-franchise, it's nowhere near as good as 2, and probably along the same lines as 3. Like I said, it's unfinished though. This has happened before. Remember when Hulk leaked early? The bad word of mouth about the effects hit that movie hard when it released. I'm wondering if a similar effect is going to happen here.

u could have just said dont do it, it triggers the conficker vir
by pjvader
maybe it does who the hell knows! all i know is that i will watch the workprint, pay to see it, then even if it sucks ill buy the blu-ray as im that kinda guy :)
-
i'd stay away from it! could be a very different movie from what will be released in a month ... it might be fun to compare this workprint AFTER having seen it on the big screen ...
-
But then I will go to a proper theater when it is released... Not the same thing, and how can Wolverine be spoiled anyways, everyone pretty much knows how the story will roll...
-
...if you want to help the Hollywood industry lay offs, you've got to point the finger at the over indulgent pay checks at the top, not piracy...the way bottom. <P> I tell you man, whenever there's an Econ crisis, the little man and the little'er man get it point blank while all the fat cats keep what they always had and, in fact, usually end up with more. <P> Sorry, busting a little early 20th century soap box in Washington square style. <P> Solidarity people, Solidarity.
-
I saw it on Kevin Smith's AICN inspired website...
-
in the past i've always found it interesting to see the workprint version and then see the full version just to see how they've improved it. what changes they've made. i find myself sometimes going "wow, the changed the ending completly." or "they didn't kill that guy like in the workprint".
-
because Fox management sucks sweaty donkey balls? Just thinking out loud.
-
Unless those fourteen minutes give us some kind of closure on Sabretooth, flesh out Deadpool, make the farm sequence not stupid, and completely erase the "Adamantium bullets", and add at least one more kickass action scene for a total of 1 and a half, I don't think it's going to be a different movie. The opening credits do kick ass though.

Ummmm.....theater attendance is better than ever.
by DANNYGLOVERS_DICKBLOOD
And there is not one shred of evidence that pirated films negatively impact ticket sales.
-
I can wait until someone sees it at a legit showing
-
If you don't want to support piracy, then don't spread the word that there is a leak. Now tons of people are going to look for it, and spread it even more.

this movie sucks!

Box office records are being made in the last couple of years!
by silentbobafett2
-
Not each download equates to a lost sale, because some people pirate who don't have the financial means, or any real desire to pay, but piracy does effect some sales. That's just common sense.
-
April 1, 2009, 1:24 a.m. CST
Most people who pirate would not pay to see it anyway.
by DANNYGLOVERS_DICKBLOOD
-
I saw Taken online, would have paid to see it in a theater otherwise. Maaaaaybe the good word of mouth was boosted by the pirated version but maybe not.
-
Not really a report! lol! But seriusly, this is my view: 1) Get better theaters with better staff. 2) If I borrow a film off a friend... is it piracy? 3) If I tape a film off of TV - is it piracy? 4) If I buy an import - is it piracy? 5) How comes all kinds of records for box office have been broken recently? 6) Didn't Dark Knight come out last year, that is now one of the most succefull movies ever? THERE WAS A DVD RIP (HQ) OUT OF THAT THAT WAS REPORTED IN THE NEWS!!! 6) Seeing a film on the big screen in a GOOD CINEMA with a GOOD STAFF WORKING THERE will always beat a file off of a computer. 7) Theres more but lets just say these lay-offs and fear of piracy is studio BS. An excuse to cut costs and scare people. There is a lot more that the studios could do to save the industry than worry about the occasional leaked work print etc
-
April 1, 2009, 1:28 a.m. CST
And Beaks. If you're concerned about Hollywood layoffs....
by DANNYGLOVERS_DICKBLOOD
....perhaps you should stop promoting films shot outside of the U.S. Runaway production is a massive crisis for the industry resulting in mucho job loss here in the states. Of course the suits don't give a fuck. The films are still getting made, with non-union crews and they're pulling in massive profits.
-
I know it's wrong, but must watch now! WWJD?
-
I'll pay to see it, always intended to. Besides, this is far from a finished cut. And it's going to make a butt-load of money, even with the good will lost from X3.
-
I thought it was a joke, but if MSNBC is reporting it, I'm willing to concede that this print really is out there...and that's bullshit. at least they know who leaked it and he's gonna get shitcanned...<p> http://tinyurl.com/2g9mqh
-
Now we have a reason to blame for our movie's shitty under-performance. ('Cause, God knows, no one's gonna let us blame Hugh Jackman's jazz-hands.)<P> "Why are these kids willing to settle for shit-quality downloads of our big-screen blockbusters?", always asks the idiot selling software applications for palm-sized media devices.
-
There were very good copies out there, and yet... Movie theater attendance always goes up during times of economic strife.
-
No-win situation here. It's a major leak. We reported on it, and left it up to the readers.<br><br>And tell my friends who've been laid off over the last few months that they should be thrilled about that spike in theater attendance. Or the ones who will be let go before the end of the summer. The industry is in a transitional phase - and the scale of that transition could be staggering.

It all comes down to OUTSOURCING AMERICAN JOBS.
by DANNYGLOVERS_DICKBLOOD
The studio fucks can come up with a million excuses. They can point the finger at shit like piracy all they want. They're pulling in records profits, yet more and more American employees are laid off while production overseas soars. Sound familiar? Yeah. Sounds just like every other fucking industry we've lost.<p>
-
Or, it could mean there will only be thirty theater screens within 15 miles of me instead of forty-seven. Won't really matter since 18 of them will still be showing "Wolverine" and the other twelve won't be showing anything I'm willing to pay $11 for either.
-
Anyone that read the shithouse script knew that the final product was gonna be terrible, even with any rewrites/reshoots. I'm still gonna download it and watch like I always intended to, but no I get it a month earlier and in better quality. Thanks for the heads up AICN.
-
I had no idea there was even a leak. You guys basically just advertised it to everyone who visits your site and didn't know about it. =S <BR><BR> But I won't watch it yet anyway. I relish the experience of being in a theater with a full audience, soaking up the big screen. w00t.
-
April 1, 2009, 1:40 a.m. CST
Thanks, Harry, now I can get it before Fox pulls it.
by cossack_says_die
If you wouldn't have said anything, then I would have probably gone to sleep and not checked my usual sources. But since you did, I am currently downloading the motherfucker. Ill be watching it when I wake up tomorrow. This shit is legit people, not an April fools prank.
-
This movie will suck, Almost as much as X-men 3, and now when it doesn't get the numbers ($$) they want, they will blame torrents and petition Senators to kill more of the freedoms of privacy that we enjoy on the internet. I'm not saying that piracy is even remotely OK. But there are many benefits to things like newsgroups, file sharing, ect. that we will dearly miss when Hollywood corporate money talks Washington into taking it away. That is why the Wolverine leak is bad. I know filmmakers and musicians that put their art on torrents themselves (mdotstrange, Giuseppe Andrews, ect) because they want to reach people and can't get they're movies distributed because of the way Hollywood bullies the distribution process. I'm not happy at all that this film was leaked and I will refrain from watching a workprint, but I saw that lame ass trailer and I'm tried of watching butchered stories that I've known by heart for over a decade. Also, I've grown out of enjoying paying to sit in a cramped theater, overhearing conversations through movies, shifting around to let drunks go take a piss, and smelling your farts. I'll watch this when it hits video, what can this film possibly enlighten me about Wolverine? I've read those comics since I was like 6 years old, and the movie will obviously be a let down. So far this year my favorite film has been Coraline in 3D. It was like watching a living diorama. Henry Selick is a visionary, while Gavin Hood (the director of Wolverine) directed Kickboxer 5 and an episode of Stargate SG1.
-
I watched the first scene and the opening credits...I wont watch anymore until theaters, it looks to badass, I want to see the proper f/x.

BEAKS: come on... I agree with about piracy and this film BUT
by silentbobafett2
You can't tell me you think your friends are loosing jobs because of it! Cheaper crews, international production bases, the ECONOMY DROP MIGHT have something to do with it... MIGHT! Beaks - I have friends who are looksing their jobs. There were thousands and thousands in the last few months of factory workers - WAS THAT BECAUSE OF PIRACY? THE WORLD IS IN TRANSITION! DOn't give us that "piracy is killing the industry line". It's an excuse. And I will tell your friends who lost their jobs that. It's a shame but they deserve to know the truth and fight for whats right! Not fight on a lie... Is priacy bad? Yes. Is it the devil? No. Ask your friends how many big cheese suits took pay cuts? How many of them PAID to see a film at the cinema? How many took h ome a screener? Take away the piracy issue, which I'm sure has an effect but it's minimal compared to other factors, and see what you're left with.
-
But that's not much help to California crews. Runaway production is an entirely different issue, and really isn't germane to this discussion.
-
i didn't know this leaked, until you said so.
-
got in a shitload of trouble. Just sayin'<br>
-
Work prints usually suck. I'm not "super" excited for this film either. It looks like "Wolverine and a whole bunch of other mutants crammed in for the fan boys".
-
You just watched the best part of the movie. It's all downhill from there.
-
Nice try, but you read the "actor" portion of his IMDB profile, not his director credits. What do I say next? Fail? Burn? Cookin the books? ::insert trendy net phrase here::
-
There is one thing I truly support it's the arts. That goes for music, movies and the such. I agree to pay for said content because I want it to keep coming. It's enjoyment. <BR> <BR> When assholes leak shit and others steal it in the long run you are not only hurting yourself but everyone else. Eventually this type of stuff will hurt the quality and the amount of movies you will see in the theater. And that goes for home media too. Rent a movie if you have to by paying for a service like netflix but stop stealing it because you're fucking it up for everyone else in the long term and that's just selfish.
-
...How the fuck did you come up with that?
-
...even pirated. The trailers look like canned ass. Not worth the time to find it.
-
I've seen plenty of rough cuts, prescreenings and test viewings. STILL going to see this at the theater because TONS.
-
until you told me it was leaked. good job adding to the problem.
-
hit the enter button... anyways... TONS of edits can be made and entirely change the feel of a film.
-
May I remind you of a little film affectionately referred to as "Episode III", out as an essentially finished workprint about two weeks before its release.
-
Gavin Hood did not direct Kickboxer or an Episode of Stargate. He did Rendition and Tsoti. I've honestly never seen either (but still don't care).

. . . when you've got both studio heads and unions tearing the profits to pieces with their bullshit. Same thing with the auto industry; it sucks that things are bad, but at some point we have to acknowledge that marginally-skilled labor requisite of nothing higher than a GED might not be worth six figures a year and lifetime benefits. As far as the studios go, they'll do well to remember that those in the horse-and-buggy business didn't gain their shares back in a changing market by making it harder to buy the same old surrey. In these times of downturn, people need to remember that the purpose of the economy is not to provide jobs or keep any specific business afloat. The only thing the economy has ever been capable of meeting demand and supply. If you can't shift your supply to the demands of the market, you either fail as a business or your market goes to the next available opportunity cost. After hearing Fox at ShoWest declaring that they'd like to set a $5 premium on certain tickets atop of their regular price, I think having a studio or two fail in this economy isn't the worst thing. And if those studios happen to be . . . say . . . Fox and the Weinsteins, I can't really pretend to be that upset or surprised.
-
That was a big deal leak wasn't it (in fact Harry ran his orgasmic review based on the pirated version if I recall correctly).

In a restaurant...you eat dinner before you pay. The unspoken rule is this...if you get served crappy food, there is a good chance you won't have to pay, provided you complained from the first few bites, at the very least you'll get a new plate.</p><p> But the way Hollywood sets this up...you pay before you take the first bite...hell, you pay based upon 30 seconds of a 2 hour movie and the pompous ramblings of what are usually some bought and paid for "critics", then 20 minutes into what turns out to be shit...they typically won't refund your $ if you walk out.</p><p> Oh...you can demand your money back...but it isn't often they will give it too you...Nope....you pay up front..and when the movie sucks you don't have much recourse.</p><p> The Box office should be at the exit...if you leave before the half way point because it sucks ass..no charge.</p><p> Why this rant here? because the way I see it Hollywood owes me at least one pirated movie per year...Fuck, they owe me three for Cloverfield alone...one to pay me back for the money I wasted watching it...1 more awarded for damages for the 80 mintes I'll never get back, and one more for pain and suffering.
-
Im about an hour and ten minutes into the workprint at the moment. While I do realize this isnt the final product I cant see how adding 14 minutes to it will fix the problems im seeing. The acting is pretty good but the story is such a let down. Its got a very slow pace after the beginning 20 or so minutes. All in all I will check out the final product and see how things go but this is a very huge letdown as I cant see them turning what so far is an ok movie into an amazing one with a few new scenes.

Beaks, can't believe you don't remember the Hulk leak. Mori had a massive sanctimonious bitch about it here, and was roundly outbitched by tb'ers for his hypocrisy. I think you've done the only thing you can do in this situation - you're a news site, it'd be remiss not to report this news, but you've managed to make the point about "piracy bad" without resorting to Mori's level of basically saying "it's OK when I do it because I'm a professional".
-
Dark Horizons didnt report it. Didnt hear of it anywhere else. Another case of AICN the biggest movie site on the net (i think) reporting something while claiming they didnt report it. Thanks for the exposure! You know this cant be contained but AICN dedicating a headline to it sure wont help matters. At all. You guys are silly. Besides times are tight. Its the great depression didnt you hear! ;)

Is Deadpool not mentioned in the trailers? Is he some secert? Is there a reason I only see trailers for this movie on Cartoon Network? Is the name Deadpool to menacing sounding? I mean they do that WHOLE stupid Blob, Cyclops, Kitten, Minx, Fozzie, Kermit, Miss Piggy, Animal line up of all the Marvel people in this movie but no Deadpool? I mean its not like they are showing the Blob eating the Wasp? Seriously, is Deadpool suppose to be some sort of surprise, like this movie was trying to be till it got leaked? Ahhhh Hood why couldn't you have just made another sequel to your only worthwhile accomplishment in life American Kickboxer.

... only putting prints together for a few screenings then disassembling the prints, otherwise they plan to keep the film segmented until it has to be sent to distribution. It seems like a good plan since it has been complete since 2008 and they have a bunch of HP fans who were pissed at WB for pushing it out 9 months. <p> It seems as though film companies should spend more effort refining their chain of custody security than trying to murder john doe downloader in the courts. <p> How can they not know who's copy was pirated?

by Stalin vs Predator
Specifically, because they plundered a few dozen accounts. <p> <p> Yeah, just as "the crisis" is the best excuse now, allowing thousands of company executives to do whatever they want and blame "the crisis", "the piracy" is an even better excuse for several industries. Get ready for holy calls of: "We need more online surveillance and content control in Web 2.0, because WOLVERINE TUK ER JERBS!"

I miss the old days of this site - before the paychecks
by Professor_Monster
when badasses worked here.
-
That's all I have to say.
-
I doubt anything will be said in response to this. Im just curious as since you say you talked to Harry about the leak... did he ever mention how he might look like a hypocrite? Since he reviewed a pirated copy of Star Wars in the past on this site. Did he bring up how stupid he might come off here? Honestly?

Are the reviews of the non-pirated WOLVERINE expected to be any
by Bjornegar
Or any worse? It's WOLVERINE!!! Who gives a s # ! t? Pirate it into the ground!!! Hollywood can only be BETTER if this kind of garbage is un-profitable.
-
I have never met a person in real life who has been against pirating of music or movies. Maybe its my age group(mid 20s), maybe its because I dont know anyone personally in the movie industry. Not everyone knows how to pirate and get these movies early or the first week they are in theaters... but everytime I find one of these movies and show my friends they are grateful. Never once have I had anyone get self-righteous like you try to in your original news story. Laughable in my opinion... but whatever
-
Ahh, the true spirit of the internet...
-
and I really DONT have to pay Fox to see a movie this year.
-
...Except for when Harry watches Episode 2 on a bootleg or any other reviews that aren't Hostel 2. You know you aren't allowed to report to outside media sources what you saw in a test screening either, right? This film won't get hit hard because of Piracy. That shit has been proven straight up to be a myth. It will get hit hard because it looks shit, and once word of mouth gets out that it is shit, it will tank. The workprint won't help matters. But for an alternative, just witness Taken. Full DVD quality out on the net almost a year before it hit cinemas. People were talking about it endlessly after bootlegging it. And its still a huge hit. I also have another question...Why are you covering for Fox? I mean, why do you care if people express their opinion on bootlegged material. It never bothered you in the past when it was Moriarty talking about pirated Myiazaki flicks.
-
...I haven't seen it. Why the fuck would I waste precious porn bandwidth on a sure fire turd like this? Oh, and whose gonna get fired for leaking it?
-
April 1, 2009, 2:45 a.m. CST
Fox released it themselves so they can blame the low BO
by Professor_Monster
on the fact that it is available for download. They know they made a piece of shit and this is a brilliant move on their part.
-
Looks like all you've done is have everyone going on about piracy yet again. By the way - whoever made the restaurant allegory, I like it.
-
Drew the cock suck McWeeny banned me twice from this place because he couldn't argue points I brought up.
-
I am having trouble even bringing myself to finishing the movie. Got about 30 or so minutes left. Wraith and Wolverine are just about to go get Gambit. The movie is dull as shit though. I mean its great seeing Wolverine again as I think Hugh Jackman is awesome in the part, but my god the movie is just fucking slow as shit most of the time.
-
Even watching the thing for free thanks to those swarthy pirates I still felt ripped off. It was that fucking bad. End of review. Oh and Harry, if you want to help the Hollywood goldmine some more, don't publish such a pathetic article in the first place which may as well have been titled "ATTENTION, WOLVERINE WORKPRINT NOW AVAILABLE FOR FREEEEE DOWNLOAD FOLKS... BUT WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T MENTION IT TO YOUR FRIENDS AND DON'T TALK ABOUT IT TO ME!!!!! Sorry but fuck em, if some overpaid dickless corporte stooge is stupid enough to leak this in the first place then they deserve to get ass fucked by the general public.
-
...I rarely pirate. Its usually for films that get fucked over in my country in regards to releases. Like Grindhouse or whatnot. I do however, RENT alot. I used to go to the movie once or twice a week. Now its more like that a month, simply because the experience is beyond a fucking joke. Ticket sales are down because you pay a fortune for shitty visual and audie quality, up to 45 minutes of ads (not trailers, just fucking ads) and constant interruptions from assholes, and now STAFF. I went to see Dark Knight opening night at the biggest, most expensive cinema in Sydney. Talking throughout the whole film, constant DELIBERATE sound drops (to trace the copy if it was pirated) and staff doing nothing about cell phone calls, but shining fucking torches in our FACES during the flick to see if anyone was recording. Plus assigned seating, to save on cleaning up. Fuck em.
-
Somebody really screwed the pooch this time. The people I really feel bad for is the cast and crew. Working hard for months, re-shoots, hoping to please the fans and now the early reviews seem to suggest the internerds are aiming to shred this bitch. In the end though, the studio is ultimately responsible. They really should of had this print on lockdown.
-
That's so screwy.
-
I had none of that during my viewing of DK. Yet, I still wanted my money back at the end. Over-rated, poorly-filmed piece of...
-
The reason the film business might be doing poorly in these times has to do with the fact that the studios are being run by their marketing departments in order to "maximize profits", rather than by artists and artistic vision. The biggest money-makers in history, aside from maybe THE DARK KNIGHT, have all been huge gambles (STAR WARS, E.T., JAWS, TITANIC, even GONE WITH THE WIND and THE WIZARD OF OZ), but nothing like that will ever get made in today's overly-greedy studio system, not when you can just handily remake movies that were making money ten years ago and stick a Jonas Brother in it. <pr></pr>Instead of paying Brad Pitt 20 million dollars, actors should all make a regular working wage (which would also weed out people who are strictly there for a massive payday) and participate in the profits. If a movie does well, they get what they deserve and the profits are distributed evenly. If not, then the studio isn't out 120 million bucks.
-
Depends on the flick. I think we were the first in the world to get Dark Knight, so they expected bootlegs from here. Despite the fact that the minute a print hits ANYWHERE in asia, a private screening and a video camera are set up.
-
...Cutting the fat from the unions and bottom earners is pointless, because its already been cut below what it can tolerate. It has to come from the top, which, coicidentally, is where the most money is wasted. You could cull half of the corporate side of any large industry and lose absolutely nothing of value. Yet save a fortune. Same goes for hollywood. Producers (some, not all) and executives contribute very little to a films actual production, yet because they hired some guy to do a cool trailer, they get paid ten times what half the workers on set get paid.
-
While I don't think piracy is killing the industry, I'm glad to see you guys banning reviews. I mean, come on guys. We all wanna see a wolverine movie (a good one anyways). But do we really wanna see it first on some shitty workprint? Kills the fun man.
-
as in don't fucking know, don't fucking care. if it's a joke, it would have been better to use a film that people are really keen to see (T4, for instance), if it's legit, well, happy days for all that are so passionate about Hugh Jackman.
-
You'd have to have a heart of stone not to laugh. What goes around comes around.
-
and its harbage. anyone who enjoys a comic brought to the big screen should stay away. anyone who enjoys a good flick period should stay away
-
...Including the countries they run to. Canada and Australia's creative film community essentially lives off the American teat now. We exsist to work on your productions, basically leaving only the dregs around to work on ours. Also, you somehow get films like The Matrix sequals getting Aussie tax breaks because they somehow classify as an Australian film. Its sort of like how Nike claims they are helping third world economies by taking their people out of the rice paddies and putting them in sweatshops. Meaning a small few profit off of it.
-
Mrbong, sir, you are a tremendous person. You have just coined the most sensitive, non-offensive euphemistic alternative for "screaming queers" I've ever heard.<P> Bravo, sir!
-
Site AICN reviews movies before they're released. Person sees movie through whatever means and then sends it in here. I don't see the problem. You're telling me that every single one of AICN's advance reviews were based upon screenings? In theatres? Riggghhhttttt... Anyway, I probably won't DL this if it's missing 14 minutes. But there's alot of sites out there, if you don't like posting your IP through a torrent site, try looking for a site that has rapidshare links. those go up and down like hotcakes.
-
if you posted this: "there are these pesky little things called talkbacks" and this : "Then I floated the idea of banning anyone who expressed an opinion based on the workprint," What kind of nazi horse-shit is that? Without the talkbacks, this site doesn't exist. Many of your talkbackers are profoundly more entertaining and intelligent than yourself or anyone else employed by AICN. Do you realize how much you completely suck as a (so called) journalist right now? You can't retract this shit. But you should apologize. And like I said Before, this movie will suck. The leak will give mediocre filmmakers a scapegoat for lousy returns in the third week. Piracy can't be good for any industry, but good product sells itself (The Dark Knight). Also what pirate do you know that doesn't also have a huge collection of legitimate dvds, games, and music? The pirate's appetite is insatiable, they can't collect enough.
-
...for releasing movies online. face it, the cinema is dying guys. its time to watch movies like we do everything else: online. i mean, defenitely not this movie. this is as close to a religious experience ive had, PIRATING actually saved me from spending the money i dont have to go see a movie that i didnt even like watching for free
-
April 1, 2009, 3:14 a.m. CST
Let's face it, a review of a leaked screener is BETTER than Harr
by quantize
..little previews he gets
-
...The last two movies I downloaded were All The Boys Love Mandy Lane and Let The Right One In. I loved both. I took two friends to see Let The Right One In last week (even though it was only showing in one fucking cinema miles out of the way in my entire city - Sydney, with a population of over 5 million) so the piracy MIGHT have helped (though not really, as I was dying to see it anyway). In regards to All The Boys? Guess what, its not out here. And it wont be in the foreseeable future, because distributors don't believe it has an audience in my country. I've never downloaded a big studio flick before, simply cause...whats the point? They're always unfinished copies or cams, and most of the time, its shit I want to see on the big screen. Like Watchmen, which I saw twice.
-
And it's an affiliate of AICN (Drew Mcsweeny no less). Check all the others. No such wolverine spill.
-
This could be a blessing in disguise. I can't believe what I'm reading. How can you screw up Wolverine? You have to be the worst fucking director in the universe (Cough, Sam Rami)to fuck up Wolverine(or Spiderman). This movie will still make money though.
-
trust me
-
if you don't want the people to pirate all the shitty movies you are spending millions of dollars to make, then stopping putting so much energy into shitty cinema, thus forcing pretty much everyone to have to preview things first. If more people trusted Hollywood to not make so many dumb movies, they would probably be much less hesitant to spend their good money at the theaters.<p>Wolverine is a totaly toss-up. Some people say it's gonna be shit, while others hail it as the next coming of the cinematic bliss train. Personally, I think the movie's gonna suck. I don't plan on pirating it, nor do I plan on seeing it unless I happen to be at a friend's house, and I'm not paying with anything but my free time.<p>If this really is a leak, whatever. Ha-ha for FOX. Cry me a river you failed douche bags of a film production company.But...<p>if this is an April Fool's Joke, then that's fucking hilarious.
-
...its the real deal. and goddam if it aint a total waste of time. do not spend your money to see this move
-
I'm with you, man... I don't download pirated films unless I have no other option. I downloaded Let the Right One In... but that's because there is no planned release here in Qld. If it was screened here, I'd pay to see it. I also downloaded season 5 of The Wire, which we've been screwed on with the DVD release. I see downloading pirated gear as a last resort punishment for distributors who are not getting with the program.
-
It's being hosted on a few sites. I'm in shock FOX could let this happen to a film so big. By the weekend the DVD will most likely flood the streets. The damage is done. This film is ruined. Average Joe movie watcher who gets his shit off the street 5 for $20 is not going to care about any reshoots, or that the score was temp or that the film is unfinished. To most people who see this, they will just know they saw "Wolverine" early. And they won't see it again in the theater. FOX fucked up BIG TIME.
-
I read it on CHUD before I saw it here.
-
this is what you get for being total money-grubbing asshole fuckheads, FOX. i hope you all die in a fiery plane crash
-
"I was jus' sailin' the merry seas and saw a copy of Wolverine floatin' in the ocean. I gave it to some folks. Does that make me a pirate? I dunno. I like to think it's the sinkin' of those British naval ships and the parrot on me shoulder. That's for you to decide, my hearties."
-
I seen the screencaps. It's real and it's not a virus. I won't DL it because the X-movies are FX porn and what's the point of watching FX porn if half the money shots are missing or even half-finished.
-
...To a nicer studio. I hope the losses on this stop you from raping the corpse of either Alien or Predator yet again, you fucking scumbags.
-
despite this movie sucking, i'll give him props for that.
-
I saw the first 10 minutes and was underwhelmed. But then again, I really wasn't excited about the trailer after I saw Wolverine casually walking away from an explosion. Again, FOX fucked up. Do we all think any other high profile Summer movie will be leaked too? It seems like this shit is going to only get worse.
-
im fine. they cant be as god-awful as this pieve of shit was
-
...They can reboot this series. Reviews for this aren't something I'd go through the trouble finding.
-
and all the fans that almost paid hard earned money to get fucked. Imagine a rape victim getting a bill, thats how i would have felt. Now i know its not "done" yet so maybe the final will be better. it would have been a better movie had they not crammed deadpool in it killing him in the process. THIS IS SPIDERMAN 3 ALL OVER AGAIN.
-
...reboot the movie
-
"Our shitty movie has been leaked on thosed damned interwebs! Now all will know of our shitty movie, and no one will want to pay for it! Whatever shall we do?"<p>There are reviews sprinkling the internet as we speak. If this is an April Fool's joke, there are a lot of people in on it.
-
...they fucked deadpool in the ass. that was harsh in the worst way. fucked everything about him up, except for the first 10 minutes of screentime he had.
-
These studios dont learn from their mistakes. "spiderman 3 was successful and we shit all over their beloved characters so lets do it again"
-
I watched the first 15 min and it was really sub par. Scenes felt rushed, sabretooth wire jumps look awful. I like Jackman as Wolvie but something is missing!
-
Holy shit Fox.<p>Wouldn't it be great if this just kept happening and they went out of business? At least there would be less boring, distractingly dumb previews.
-
so was hugh jackman and they still fucked it up.
-
so was hugh jackman and they still fucked it up.
-
Piracy could potentially ruin the movie business. While production companies like Fox consistently make crap to be avoided, there are other companies, like Miramax,Universal, Warner Brothers that all have made at least a few good movies. I would hate to see any of them go down the drain that Fox might.
-
...and now their summer "blockbuster" gets leaked. instant karma is a bitch, huh?
-
MARVEL.<p>Now they fucking got it right. Whadya say Fox? Wanna give that X men property back to the people it belongs to? I want my Phoenix Saga done the right way, in space and everything.
-
... if Star Trek bottoms out like this godawful fuckall of a movie, im gonna start firebombing
-
It wasn't horrible like some people say. I didn't mind it. Although what the fuck did they do to Deadpool. They fucked that shit up bit time. I was screaming at my computer screen. I love the temp score, which was actually the score from the transformers. It was also really interesting to see a working copy of a movie. Its weird to see all the wires on people, and the unfinished FX. I will still probably spend the 10 bucks to see it with my friends when it comes out just to see what kind of musical score it will have and how the FX turn out.
-
X-Babies! Same cast!
-
...<p>HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH!!!!!<p>...<p>HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! HAAAA!!!!<p>What the fuck Fox? Cyclops powers? Laser beams and Terminator vision? Do you even read the comics? That is the funniest shit I have read in a long time.
-
...if these big-wig retards at the production studios just took the source material from these funnybooks, got decent actors that looked somewhat like the characters, and just glitzed it up a bit, us nerds wouldnt be here at 2:00 in the morning whining about the movies they make
-
Who needs Hollywood anyway.
-
Talks of banning people who post is ridiculous, the fact that the only thing that stopped you from doing it is that it would be to much work for your fat fingers is just down right scary. Please remind yourself that all of us make this website possible, that those of us who prefer to watch a piece of shit like Wolverine for free as opposed to paying 10$ for said piece of shit are implied to have any less honor is something you should be ashamed of. Long have the men in charge at Fox pissed all over us, long have they made quick and dirty comic movies with the sole intent of raking in cash that I feel no pity for them should we the dishonorable choose not to line the pockets of people who dont give two shits about us or our opinions. This site has been a daily visit for me, and never have I been offended the way I am today. As far as Im concerned, people like us dishonorable folks who see these shitty movies for free online actually do a service for lovers of cinema everywhere. If the box office is terrible, perhaps in time Fox and like minded studios will figure out that their audience will not accept just anything, and that we expect them to respect the franchises that we all hold so near and dear to our hearts. If Wolverine had been good upon my blasphemous free online viewing, I would have gladly seen it again in the theaters as well as recommend it to my friends. Instead I will do my fellow celluloid citizens a favor and advise them to steer clear of this monumental failure of a movie. This is what this website is supposed to be Beaks, a voice for us the fans who pay for these movies, not the lip service of the studios who fuck us in the ass. Shame on you Mr Beaks for your insulting note, shame on you for not at the very least taking these reviews from us pirates in order to empower us to take a stand against these soulless, heartless studios, mostly just shame on you for acting like a complete douche bag. May God have mercy on your soul.
-
always get it in the neck. During this recession the people at the top are still living wealthy, healthy lives. Unless there is a fundamental change in the greed in the higher tiers, then the layoffs at the bottom are still going to happen piracy or no piracy. <p> This isn't conding piracy - theft is theft and it impacts on the industry. The trouble is if the Workprint of Wolverine was good, then it will still make an insane amount of money at the box-office. People still underestimate the critical importance of word of mouth. <p> Its a fanboy project - the merchandise, boost in the Wolverine franchise, comics, DVD/Blu-Ray sales etc would be insane if the quality of the product was good. It's looking like its average at best. <p> Additionally I wasn't aware that it was 'out there' until I read this page today.
-
... LOL hes Wolverine, not a fuckin werewolf
-
:pity:
-
...youre a tool beaks.
-
I paid to watch it at the theatres, I paid for it on DVD, and I never pirated it. I wouldn't want anyone too. Instead, I spend a good $25 to see it more than once, because it's actually a movie with some patience and some heart. Earlier I watched Be Kind Rewind. Again, I had already seen it at the theater, and again I bought it so I could rewatch it in the comfort of my own home. I spent all that money because it was well directed, well acted, had a lot of heart, and was just generally a good movie.<p>fox, start making good movies, and I gurantee you at least $30 from me for really well made movie you create.
-
Comeon geeks - someone needs to start circulating a non-Wolverine torrent labelled as Wolverine to frustrate this. (if Fox aren't already)
-
Versus first weekend with a crowd on a giant screen with a sound system.<P> No comparison.
-
...adn they said there were obviously rough edits and very, very temp effects all over the place.<P> Doesn't seem like a very fair way to pass judgement on it if you ask me.
-
see creative licences. They want to see their heroes the way they read about them. Doing otherwise is lying and stealing their money.
-
And AICN came over all`Holier Than Thou`-very hypocritical if you ask me!
-
...bad acting, horrible plot, failure of the source material. no special fx doesnt mean no movie. jeez, kids these days
-
I want this movie to do well, just cause I'm an optimistic sucker that hopes and prays they do Wolverine in Japan for a sequel, and they get someone to do it right.
-
Are you going to be able to make a fair judgment about a painting if you only see 1/4 of it?<P> Kids? Fuck you, elitist twat. I'm sick to death of "fans" like you.
-
And you obviously didn't pay for it, so why the fuck are you complaining?
-
...I know, I'm a trouble maker!
-
Wolverine versus the Hand and maybe toss in a Silver Samurai cameo. make it a story about Yakuza, and the warrior's code, and his love interest with Yuriko as Lady Deathstrike, and maybe toss in a Mojo cameo when she gets he big claws.
-
...you need to get the old blood pressure down. opinions are like assholes, remember? everybody got one. so just take it easy, go pay 25 bux to take your fat girlfriend to see this trainwreck of a movie, and ill be here to tell you i told you so
-
Nobody understands him!
-
...Stick to capturing cargo ships full of Ukrainian tanks and oil tankers.<p> Kids, piracy isn't cool, unless its a Gore Verbinski trilogy that seriously disappoints in the last act.<p> Let's hope they capture these scoundrels and hang them in chains, but not before they sing some corny fuckin' pirate song that will make at least one AICN critic jizz in his pants.
-
You talking to me? I'm just laughing my ass off. I promise you will never see me watching Wolverine in the theater. You don't even know me dude, trust me.
-
Not when you're fucking with my livelihood. Download a movie for free and bitch about it on the internet? Maybe you ought to concern yourself less with my "fat girlfriend" and seek other forms of entertainment. Hopefully something that meets the maturity level you're trying to project. Opera, maybe? Don't forget this is a movie based on a comic book. It's not Puccini, and it isn't trying to be.
-
Asshole of the night.
-
Rupert Murdoch and his coke-fueled sycophants just got what they deserve. I feel bad for Jackman because he put the product through, but this is just deserts for a media empire that is the biggest steaming pile of shit to hit these shores since the Japs attacked us in WW2 These jaded fucktards at fox will continue to profit despite a big leak...but it does not look good when the the crucial fanbase has already seen the movie. Again, don't mean to disparage Hugh Jackman-the trailers actually looked pretty good-and he should be congratulated for being creative. He just hooked his horse to the wrong wagon (Fox media whatever). *Rant off* -MLB
-
will still have Daredevil with Terminator sight and laser eyes.<p>And boy is that some dumb sheeyit.
-
...and it failed. end of story
-
Yes I am the mug who only buys legitamate DVD of a movie, I don't watch films on the internet, I don't download them either. I am not a Knock off Nigel.
-
Deadpool! But why not add a couple of Daredevil and Elektra (played by Jennifer Garner) cameos in there to dumb up the damn thing.
-
now had that line been in a yellow square box i would have rolled and gave fox some props
-
On Wikipedia. In one of them he's a really evolved form of an actual animal Wolverine, but the other one was actually kind of cool, but Sabretooth was the dad. Who the hell decided to make him a sissy pilgrim boy in Canada?
-
When you go to a restaurant, do you run back to the kitchen to bitch about the food before the chef is finished?<P> Opinions like assholes, huh? More like an asshole with an opinion.
-
...but when my eggs taste like shit, i do
-
...I want yto see you admit that this movie isn't finished.<P> I know for a fact that they are still working feverishly on it.<P> Go ahead, placate me. Just admit it.
-
Invest in a nice televison, and set your time movie clack back about three months, and it's fine.
-
the fx are not complete. however, being as i can see tell a shit movie when i see one, it doesnt matter.
-
I thought his cannon origin is that he was a child during the Victorian era that accidentally killed someone the first time he popped his claws?
-
wade wilson when he was allowed to. I think ill just send him my 8 bucks instead. he earned it. And it looks like when jackman said he really cared about the fans he was refering to his fans and not the comics fans. Please oh please let the finished product be an improvement. Wolverine and Sabertooth had a tender moment together WTF. Why not just make them fuck because that would be just as beleivable. Its akin to having Batman and Joker shake hands and say "ill always be there for you bro".
-
I'll tell you for sure, neither is the edit. They've got a good two weeks before it has to go out for processing.
-
seriously.<p>A V A T A R. December. Nothing else matters.
-
... i take back the fat gf thing, that was my bad, even though you are kind of an asshole, and i know your heart is in a good place by trying to give this movie the benefit of the doubt. thats cool. but im telling you, raw though it is, there is absolutely no redeeming quality to this movie. so please, quit trying to sell me on it, cause it aint gonna work
-
I'm going to Wrestlemania 25 on Sunday in Texas (I'm from soCal). I don't care if Randy is supposed to be the "bad guy" If that cocksucking bastard hhh wins I'm fucking rioting. Oh, and fuck the title of this movie. So very fucking insulting title
-
Of which we've seen NOTHING. If ever there was a movie that someone could by no mean logically form an opinion about at this point, it is Avatar.
-
if anything - it'll rev up the interest in the movie. The people who download it can be divided into two groups: 1) the geeks who'll go to see it anyway ro see what changes has been made, and 2) people who wouldn't have gone to the cinema but wanted to see the movie for free. And it's professional of AICN not to publish any reviews.
-
Ok, it's a deal. The Dude abides.
-
...It's been 18 mos. and I'm not allowed to turn off my PC until I've seeded it at least five times.<p> It's just NOT worth it, kids.
-
The Happening.<P> EVERYONE badmouthed that thing before it came out.<P> Of course, that was perfectly justifiable. It was AWFUL. And I normally like MN Shammy movies.
-
you flatter me - quite unintended, but now that i read my comment again, i cannot argue with your findings!
-
Bunch of cuntz tried to rob me of my hard earned fuckin money. Ive had enough of this shit. I feel lied to and cheated. This is the best thing that can happen for the movie industry, start leaking movies in advance so the public wont be tricked into seeing the shit they slaped together by making a cool trailer. If a movie is leaked and is good it will dominate the box office, just look at taken, gran torino. they leaked and guess fuckin what there raking in tons more money than they ever would have. If something is quality people will pay for it. If your tricking the consumer youll earn their hatred.
-
With Huch Jackman as Freddy Krueger and Jack Black as Wolverine!

Something this terrible could not have happened to worse SOB's.
by The Tao of Joe
Fox got what they deserved. After the stink they kicked up about "Watchmen" (who cares if that movie sucked, Fox still acted like rat bastards about it). They're going to be selling this thing in barbershops across the country, $5 a pop. On, and Tom Rothman, I got bad news for you, the comic fans that you don't care about whatsoever? Nearly all of them know how to use the internet. Hahaha. Who perpetrated this crime? The Comedian? Hope that percentage of the gross you guys are skimming of the Watchmen will heal the gaping wound that will be the box-office results for "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." BTW, fanboys, you can kiss that Magneto movie goodbye, as well as the FF and Daredevil reboots. Probably a good thing, though. This is hilarious.
-
Considering that the nerds are going to make or break this film, the leak is a bad deal for the FAUX. <P> The word of mouth from how bad this is will get around and do damage, like with the Hulk leak. <P> FAUX will post on its network about the evil commie pirate hackers and before you know it, Uncle Sam is forcing bandwidth limits on households so they are not downloading tooo much content.
-
I'm kinda hoping that Marvel Studios gets back the rights to their characters, but I'm also pretty sure they're going to fuck up pretty bad eventually. They came really, really close to wrecking Incredible Hulk, so they're not perfect.<P> I do hope they get them back, for no other reason that it would be fun to see characters pop up into other movies like they do in the comics.
-
ban people for talking about a movie? a MOVIE? really dude?? the fuck is that? its a leak of a shitty movie by a shitty studio! if you are gonna take that kind of hard stance on anything, at least make it worthwile. just the idea of becoming a talkback nazi is bad enough, but the fact that you had to type to US that you were flirting with the idea shows that you are just another fake power hungry nerd really overstepping his bounds. just shut the fuck up, ya know? its not about YOU. *** ANYWAY*** this movie sucked major assage. anytime you have the main star slowly walk away from a giant explosion with that extra cool look on his face, you KNOW you have a shitty movie. it is absolutely horrible.
-
You have now brought a lot of attention to a movie which a lot of people (including me) didnt know was available illegally online and in good shape. I don't think a story on this matter was appropriate.
-
I found the workprint that leaked for the remake of Halloween to be a lot better than the theatrical release even though both versions weren't good. I'll avoid this workprint because of the lack of effects and also the fact that I don't even really want to see this movie once, let alone twice.
-
It just helps to further exploit the fact the movie was leaked. I wouldn't have known otherwise.

So how reviews differ from Harry's Star Wars Ep 2 in 2002?

Saw via a secret source, and reviewed on this site. So why the high moral ground now? Why can't people post reviews, AOTC wasn't finished either...

Since when does AICN doesn't run reviews that stem from workprin
by kaim
Sorry guys, but AICN is in danger of destroying it's reputation with this. Over the years there have been countless reviews from people who had seen some kind of "workprint" - and nobody cared if there was anything "illegal" to it. Didn't Harry himself write a review about one of the new STAR WARS movies, where he described how he saw the film "illegally" in some hotel room, always fearing that some SWAT-team might storm in any minute. And now, all of a sudden, you start to care? Know what I think: there is some huge financial interest involved here (and I don't talk about WOLVERINE'S Box Office here...). The question ist: how much money was on the table, exactly?
-
he said he has never read a comicbook. He directed batman and hes never read a comicbook. That speaks volumes about studios. They could give 2 shits about the product they sell as long as they can advertise the fuck out of it. We are to blame, we the public who is fooled time and time again all while the studios are trying less each time. They think we are retarded sheep with money for wool. We need to apply negative reinforcement. Remember when they made new coke and people stopped buying it. Now imagine if we all just said fuck it and kept buying it, then we would all be drinking new coke still.
-
This feels more like seizure of evidence in court case against 20th Century Fox rather than movie piracy. THE LIST OF CHARGES: X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) Dragonball Evolution (2009) Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (2009) The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008) Max Payne (2008) Babylon A.D. (2008) The X Files: I Want to Believe (2008) Space Chimps (2008) Meet Dave (2008) Jumper (2008) AVPR: Aliens vs Predator - Requiem (2007) The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising (2007) Pathfinder (2007) Eragon (2006) My Super Ex-Girlfriend (2006) The Omen (2006) X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) Fantastic Four (2005) Hide and Seek (2005) Elektra (2005) AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004)

Harry seeing Attack of the Clones early and posting about it... good. He's a professional and an all-around good person. Now go enjoy the latest from Script Girl.

these old nerds got a couple lines in to a few dicks at a few studios and completely lose their balls. amazing how a couple free screenings and set visits can make someone sell out so easily. at least get some cold hard cash Harry! and what does Beaks get? OOOOOooooohhhh FOX ;) <P> Isn;t it funny guys? We bitch and moan about trailers and we always get nothing but "OOOHHHH well just WAIT and SEE it!"... Well guess what? I just SAW it and it was FUCKING DREADFUL! A temp score and a few unfinished FX shots of CGI planes isnt enough to make me hate a movie. <P> What IS enough is shit acting, bad plot and a general raping of source material. Avoid it guys unless you think 15 mins or reshoots will save an already 2 hour clusterfuck. <P> FUCK YOU FOX!!!!! <p> Oh, and go ahead and ban me.. but know this... if you strike me down I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.

Even more stunning is that I've seen seven of them. What's wrong with me? <b> The notion that this was a VFX intern's nerd-venge for the Watchmen suit is hilarious.

-
I'm in the middle of watching it... and im actually getting jazzed up to see the actual finished print at the cinema.
-
A studio blockbuster needs to make three times its original budget. That profit is then put into more experimental films. Without Titanic, do you really think Fox would have spent $70m on Fight Club? Personally I'm against piracy. OK, you can argue that it has led to the development of Itunes etc, but then World War led to the mass production of pencillin, didn't make it right. OK, I'm rambling now. Also, nothing beats watching a film in a cinema.
-
All you are doing is advertising that the work print exists. I had not idea. Saw you article and jumped on a few sites and there it was. Figured you were April fooling us. I wonder how many additional people have watched the movie because of your article. Not me. Even free, I have no interest in this trash.

This is OUR version of people sending Harry films for free. He don't pay - but he watches them. He slags them off, the company, everything. He even siad this week that FOX don't want him seeing their films but "SOMEONE" sends him films. Well SOMEONE just send us a film... SORRY WE SAW IT BEFORE YOU GUYS! And MR BEAKS your comment about your "friends" lossing jobs is so infuriating! What about everyone loosing jobs around the world right now! What a shame they aren't in cool jobs that can blame the simple pre-release of a SHIT FILM for the reason they lost their jobs. What a great industry that must be.
-
...with a talented editor the finished article could be better than X3. Don't like the pre-credit sequence for example.
-
So who cares if this piece of crap gets distributed online. I won't be seeing this one, regardless.
-
back in 2006. had a meeting, talked about my aspirations. told them a plan for a film franchise. can't remember the guys name, (I seem to have wiped it from memory) <p> basically the guy told me they don't need any new franchise because they have a hundred years of films to re-make and sequelize. <p> I remember laughing in disbelief at what a cock smoker he came accross as. I was genuinely there to talk business and all this guy could do was flex his muscles about how good he was and how secure he'll be without me. <p> needless to say, i learned a lot about the reality of filmmaking that day. <p> The future looks bleak and I'm in agreement with the above poster - karma is a bitch.
-
is that some sort of maths thing, like when you differenciate or whatever. Oh and the movies studios might be laying people off because of a little thing called the stock market crash/credit crunch/econopolypse not ummm piracy. Just an opinion. Oh and happy april 1st
-
But if the rumors are true that they add Mr Sinister that would tie the movie together beter. There would be a central antagonist because striker didnt do it for me. it made no sense to for striker to make wolverine then say good now kill him and we'll start over with someone else. why not just control wolverine . Thats a pretty big plot hole.
-
that was meant to read... <p> what was his name?? can't for the life of me remember. I wonder if he remembers me?
-
Just watched the first 20 minutes of this before i HAD to turn it off. Okay, i'm not the target audience for this kind of movie, but seriously - even for a superhero cheapie this is very, very bad. The first laugh out loud moment was when the kid gets pissed off and screams into the overhead camera, then tiptoe runs away after killing daddy. The second was when Liev Schreiber suddenly does an impression of "Cats" during D-Day. The hobbit guy who can make elevators run with THE POWERS OF HIS MIND was also very funny. Everyone involved should be embarrassed for quite some time. Unbelievable what trash passes for entertainment these days. <p> WAIT! I get it Fox! Very funny! Making a multi million dollar ridiculous fake version of Wolverine and leaking it on April First?? GENIUS!!!

Im judging the movie on story, plot progression, character development and acting. Generally FX don't weigh too much on a critique. This working copy had everything necessary for it to be judged. deadpool to the cast and Ryan reynolds to play him, Hugh jackman was scared Ryan would be the new captain of the mutant movies. Fuck them if they lose money. If the current econom ic crisis should be teching us anything it's that MONEY IS NOTHING BUT A METHOD OF ENSLAVEMENT. A penny is worth nothing these days, and a hundred times nothing is still nothing, so what's a dollar worth? When are we going to wake up and realize that without money we could still live, work, create, and be kind to one another and grow as a culture, just like Harry fantasized about in his Marley and Me essay. We can achieve the Star Trek ideal IF WE JUST GOT RID OF FUCKING MONEY!

2 perfect examples are taken and the dark knight. Taken DVD has been available online for months (because it was already out in europe) and its still making tons of money, and correct me if i'm wrong but TDK was both the number one movie at the theatres as well as the number one download for weeks last summer<P>bottom line is you can't stop piracy, but if you make a movie good enough, peoplw will pay to see it either in theatres or on DVD

Oh how the mighty have fallen. In the late 90's and early 00's this was the place to go to find all kinds of illegally leaked spoilers and leaked images. Then Harry sold out. Now the site is a shell of what it once was. Quint started doing reviews. A kid who had never seen a vast library of historic movies but he had seen Jaws. Now we have warnings on AICN about now watching something because of hurting Hollywood business? Aha. I guess the people at AICN finally grew a soul...a decade too late.
-
I'm sure soon enough we will have a planty review from someone called Octopuss Prime or something that saw a secret showing in Santa Barbara or something and it won't any spoilers and they loved it and you will too if you don't love the usual comic book movie. I'm sure the f/x were still a little choppy too

This movie was doomed just by the title "X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERIN
by SpyGuy
A title like that screams "Hey, X-Men fans! We know you're too stupid to realize a movie simply called WOLVERINE features Wolverine, so we're making the title clumsy and unnecessarily stilted. You know, just like the movie itself."
-
like the comic was. No need for the x-men bit, people aren't stupid, wolvy is the best known of the mutants out there, everyone will know who he is.
-
I would argue that the buzz from people that watched Taken online got many people to go see it.
-
And one of the fucks here writing a blow by blow scene by scene "review" of the damn thing once it comes out and you've already suckered the comic con crowd out of their mom's and dad's hard earned money?
-
...The film sucks. Its leaked. Now everyone knows it sucks. I paid to see Dark Knight and Watchmen twice at the movies. Once regular with friends, once again on Imax. Imagine if I had seen a shitty quality vresion of the film first? I'd definately have to see it on the big screen. This film is a pile of shit, and no matter how much studio shill sites try to convince everyone otherwise, the truths out.
-
Maybe if you weren't a useless fuck who made films worth seeing, your liveliehood wouldn't be in danger. Like I said, I've seen pirated flicks. The ones that suck never get watched again. The ones that rule get not only rewatched on the big screen, but I usually take friends or recommend them to people. Sort of like how I downloaded both Arcade Fire albums. Thats 50 dollars they missed out on from me. But I also went to see them two nights in a row at 80 dollars a ticket. The second night I even paid for a friend to come. So they came out ahead 190 ahead.
-
The previews looked dumb (wtf at that stupid sound effect they use when someone bounces off The Blob) and I really hope the person above wasn't serious about Deadpool getting Cyclops powers at the end. I don't even know if I need to download this crap anymore.
-
...would be to let Yoko run the site for the day. Crayon and paste style homepage, anyone?
-
"Nothing beats watching it in a cinema". Except watching it at home where you actually get value for money. Sorry man, the cinema going experience has been turned to shit. In a day and age with so many entertainment options at my fingertips, the half assed effort put out by the film industry just fails to cut it.
-
ok, let's try to move this away from the abusive line. giving any monetary figure to "losses" from piracy is borderline nonsensical as one cannot quantify the figure. if someone downloads or buys a pirate "Wolverine", there is no way that you can prove that individual would in fact have instead given the money over for the original. who hasn't been offered or given a stack of films on DVD-R's that they usually would have no interest in? now, the guys that make / sell the pirates, different debate, as they are trading off someone else's work and efforts. downloading a film or buying a pirate IS NOT the same as stealing a car or shoplifting a disc. from my side i am against pirated films, but i grow tired of the "consumers" of them being lambasted and attacked; the actual problem is those who "release" and sell them.
-
...How almost perfect copies of Gran Torino and Taken being on the streets didn't seem to dent their box office. In fact, it seemed to boost them.
-
Just terrible. He also had terminator vision at the same time. What the fuck. FOX needs to take a step back and think for one fucking second. If they don't I'm going to kick their fucking ass. Then Im going to be fucking done with them, professionally.

Fuck the law.

Yeah, I watched the workprint of Halloween The Remake okay. When I rolled into the cinema, I actually was mildly dissapointed by the finished flick.

Man it blew Jar Jar Binks' mother...Can't wait for it to be another Serenity, by the way was that ever released at the box office???
-
Let's face it, it had to be someone on the inside, why not the people in charge. My guess is that this leak will put a very minor dent in the overall box office take, and the film was already doomed to be a failure (massive last minute re-shoots anyone??? When is that ever a good sign). Now the Fox big wigs can claim that it was piracy that made the film a failure, not the fact that the film is more than likely a piece of crap. This is coming from someone that wouldn't watch this film if they were handed a prisitine copy signed by Hugh Jackman's pectoral muscles. So get ready folks, the film will underwelm at the box office, the internet will be blamed, and the idiot suits won't realize that if the film was good, people would actually go see it. Get ready for more "you should feel guilty" even if you don't watch pirated movies commercials before your next $20 dollar a ticket visit to the local cinema chain.

If the area in which you live is economically depressed and all the jobs suck ass, move to another area where the outlook is better! I agree that the corporate greedheads have screwed us all over with their funny paper games and outsourcing friggin' every industry and believe it will soon lead to Americans emigrating en masse to other countries that actually have jobs.
-
FUCK FOX. SEE HOW SHIT ALWAYS COMES BACK AROUND. I REALLY WANTED TO LIKE THIS MOVIE AND WAS WILING TO PAY TO SEE IT, BUT THANK THAT DUDE JESUS CHRIST I DIDNT. WHAT SHIT THIS MOVIE BE.
-
Piracy is not a problem per say - we all watch shit for free. thru friends, tv, etc. the problem is these fuckers who take a pirated film and sell it. some make a pretty decent trade. There is a couple west of me who were able to build an extension onto their house thru their pirating business. <p> those types need to go to prison - thru their sheer arogance alone.
-
Piracy is a fact of life. It is unstoppable. The film industry, like the music and software industries before it, need to accept it, perhaps even embrace it. And I do seriously wonder, if Fox had managed to keep Watchmen from the light of day, if this post would exist.
-
So it's 1987 in an alternate reality where computer technology is advanced enough to where Ishtar leaks onto the internet. I guess it doesn't go on to become the massive box office success that it was right???
-
The version that leaked has so many people riled up, but if you use google to search for screenshots you can see that it is NOT the final release. The SFX are looking like 1920s film homages (drawn onto print) and the score isn't the real one. Any geek worth his weight in geek will wait.
-
I really don't believe piracy has cost anyone their job. The FANBOIS will go out and see it, buy the DVD, either way. I would hope the studio would try paying the actors, say 10 million instead of the 20 million per picture instead of letting Hank the boom operator go. I could be wrong but I don't see a shortage of people lining up to help make these movies. I think there is another problem because it isn't the stream of cash coming into the studios. If the studio is holding out paying "the common man" when they are making so much and paying actors such inflated rates then I say blame them. Not some kid who buys every XMan comic, every DVD, every lunch pail, and sees the movie 2x with his buddies. PIRACY??? Try greed.
-
WGA!!!!!

Twice.<p>Fox needs to join the Big Three automakers on the chopping block. by silentbobafett2
Mr Beaks and the AICN crew - ever owned/brought/listened to a BOOTLEG? I remember how cool it was to have them. Thats just piracy but with a cooler name. Ever tape a film of TV and keep it? Ever borrow a film of someone and watch it? Ever receive a screener through the post and see it without buying it after? Ever go to see a sneak preview? Ever been shown a workprint?
-
I wonder how many movies Harry taped off of the tv growing up. I am sure now that he and his site are so responsible, he went back and paid all the studios for his copyright violations. Oh and I am sure he disposed of all of the offending VHS tapes.
-
every other corporation on earth. Every one is now run on the basis of "How do we maximize profits THIS year?" There is no forward vision, there is no concern for making products or providing services that people will flock to. It's just about expending the least effort and money possible to make the most profit possible. Long-term vision is apparently obsolete. On the other hand, killing the goose that lays the golden eggs has never been more popular.
-
You don't want people watching bootleg copies of his films.
-
Great film with great sketches.
-
I am as Axl Rose once described, I'm a "dowloading motherfucker"! The reason for this, is simple. I am sick and tired of getting ripped off buying shit, constantly, with albums and movies that are utter shite, but I have little to no way of knowing for sure, unless I GET the film or album off the net, first. I downloaded the Chinese Democracy leaks. I loved them. Then I went and bought the CD of Chinese Democracy the very first day it was released. I loved it too. I have been to thousands of films and paid for every single one of them. I have also reached the point where I am entirely fed up of paying to see bad films, that I hold hope for. Bad films I want to see, cause I take perverse delight in obviously bad filmmaking, will continue to attract my business. So the "suits", and I include the operators of this site in that, can blow me, if they don't like this. I'm downloading as I type this and "trying before I buy" from now on. For all movies and albums. My bandwidth is enormous and costs the same per month as an album and couple of paid for movies... There is not one goddamned thing you pricks can do about it, except make decent movies. Your choice. Cheers.
-
Who will win Battle For The Cowl? Geeks unite...
-
It's "per se" goddammit, not "per say"! Uneducated idiots shouldn't use fancy words they can't even translate. <p>
-
Thanks AICN, now I don't have to take my 12 year old to this turd, buy tickets for something else, and sneak in. Well, maybe I will anyway to compare the finished film to the workprint. I bet Hugh Jackman is one pissed off Aussie today.
-
The material with the characters as kids was compelling, the parts of the film where they were adults were terrible. The adults in that film seemed better suited for a bad daytime soap, not an "award" winning film.

-
Hey go to www.iwanttodownloadilleagalshitandgoeztojailooohhhnoezz.jimmy Seriously did you just ask that here of all places??? lol :oP
-
It's the two-faces-ness of Beaks. The way he "had a go" at us before we even knew it was available, let alone downloading it (which I'm NOT going to), was disgusting. Plus this has turned into a debate over how much piracy damages the industry like Beaks and his coporate pals tell us it does. Alot of us, including me, believe the impact is very minimal. Taken, Dark Knight, Gran Torino to name only three were all out at time of release, if not ages before, but it didn't hurt their box office. People get all high and mighty about piracy but it's a fear of technology. Taping off of TV, bootlegs, borrowing films from friends - it's all the same thing you just didn't use a computer for it.
-
judging by how this movie looks boycotting it will be pretty easy.. doubt it'll even be worth a download. sad. condolences to Jackman, bigger and better roles will head his way.
-
Please spare us the usual economic suffrage BS, because it's common knowledge that when things are bad in the US, movies usually experience higher turnouts and more profits. I have downloaded movies before and see no harm in it. If the movie sucks, I saved myself some hard earned cash, if it's good then it's worth a movie ticket. Who defends us when a movie is garbage? I think movies should be set up like most games, give us a demo to sample the movie. We all know that trailers are rarely enough to tell us if a movie is shit.

...Maybe they shouldn't leak work prints to the internet and FOX wouldn't have to fire them. I would like to see what the correlation between a leaked workprint and someone being fired is. I mean, we KNOW what it is, and thats lazy pieces of shit constantly putting out crap films and flooding the market before word of mouth can kick in. Sadly, these leaks allow word of mouth to spread. Well, sadly if you are making a giant steaming pile of shit like Wolverine. Not so sad if you are Clint Eastwood, because then the word of mouth gets people into the cinema. See how that works?
-
That you have posted reviews of movies that have come from these very same piracy sites you damn right now. That, or it's just amazing coincidence. Multiple times. Fact is, if the movie is good I'll still go to the theatre to experience it. Not to mention I've found many movies like Gabriel out of Australia I never would have heard about - or watched - without them. If Hollywood wants to bitch about firing people, blame the fact they are regurgitating the same sloppy shit over and over and looking dumbfounded when noone wants to Pony up. If the movies good, the crowd will be there always.

In downloading films...especially FOX films.

Piracy is justified until the studios offer money-back refunds
by SpyGuy
As someone pointed out earier, you can't get a refund for a bad movie as easily as you can get no charge for a bad meal at a restaurant. Why do you think people read movie reviews? To help decide if a movie is worth their money. Something tells me the movies will get a hell of a lot better if the studios had to back it up with a money-back guarantee.

I don't know how to feel right now. I'm stricken that Beaks, if it was easy to do, banned anyone who posted a reaction to the pirated copy. The only thing that stopped him was that it would have been a "moderating nightmare." Wow. I just don't know what to say other then the obligatory go fuck yourself. Other then that I am speechless.
-
This movie sucks. Fox leaks a print, and now they can blame the shitty box office on piracy and not putting out a sub-par wannabee origin story of Wolverine and His Amazing Friends vs Mutano, the Mutant Supreme! Bam, conspiracy theory for the day done.
-
I got something like that too....man, porn really is EVERYWHERE these days...

Considering western movie going audiences get to kick back and enjoy the fruits of chinese slave labour, and a lot of chinese people couldn't afford to watch the flicks even if they wanted to, the piracy there doesn't mean much. Head on over the South Korea. Relatively good wages, they certainly can afford to sustain their own exellent industry. Interestingly enough, you can go into some net cafes there, (or if your a student in Sydney, some Korean cafes here) and pay 50 bucks and load your portable harddrive up off of their databases of pirated movies, anime and music. Look, I rent a shitload of movies. I'd happily pay to use an itunes like service to download movies whenever I want. Except for the odd tentpole IMAX release, they have fucked the cinema going experience up so much with greed and stupidity that its not really enjoyable anymore. Get with the fucking times, and start releasing your movies straight to download, and charge less. Ohmygod, you might have to pay your grossly over paid stars and executives less. Boo fucking hoo. If the bottom feeders of the industry are losing their jobs, then they can blame the goddamn greedy assholes who are running the system into the ground.
-
I did locate a print on ZSHARE. Lots of the links are already taken down at Rapidshare and Megaupload. But, saddly, this isnt a joke. It really did leak. Now I have to sit through the damn thing, gay ass "bone claws" and all. What a way to spend April 1st!

At least someone knows how to make a great movie!! Fuck you Fox~!!!!
-
I would like to see your black box response to people questioning your flirtation with the idea of banning anyone who talks about a movie. <p> Seriously man, how far is fox's cock up your date? are you paralized with your head pointed to the sky - the cock tip visible poking out your mouth with you saying in a muffled voice "take it out just a little please" <p> what gives man? is that really the direction you want this site going? banning people for talking about upcoming films? <p> whats even more damning is that you must have seen the download yourself and then noted how shit it was. only to come running to Harry <p> "Harry, the film is shit, the jig is up - no longer can we give ratner hell - what do we do - the word will spread this film is bad. we must quickly post a headline about this film so we can sort of take responcibility and then, hey - we can ban all those fuckers we always wanted to. lets just say "don't talk about the film or we'll ban you" <p> to which harry replies "Wolverine?"

Wanting to see the difference between the work in progress print and the real movie. If I end up liking the finished print, I may actually grab the workprint, afterwards, and see the differences. I aint' ashamed to say I did that with HALLOWEEN redux, and frankly, the work print was better, although I liked both.

AND contribute to the downfall of Fox's shitty X-Men franchise? SWEET...off to find that torrent!

Don't get your panties in a knicker or whatever the expression is, we are united in our shared hatred of the worst hack this site has ever seen - the pretentious fuckwit called Beaks. I must say i am pleased that finally more than just a few people realize what an idiot that guy is. I've been saying it since his "glorious return" and got banned for it.
-
I liken the anti-piracy company line "but, but the common man working in the movie industry will lose his job if you pirate a movie!" to the crazy "if you smoke a joint, you're supporting the terrorists" bullshit they tried to sell us 6 or 7 years ago. They're both 1.) not provable and 2.)not true. Instead of thinking of piracy as a competing buisness model (which it is), the studios try to threaten people with lawsuits or play on their sympathies. "We know that 90% precent of our products are crap, and we know that the places to view our product are unpleasent, but please go to a shitty expensive movie theater with overpriced snacks where we refuse to hire ushers or excercise any control over the obnoxious theater-goers who might make this an unpleasent experience for you so we can afford to pay Joe The Gaffer. Because everytime you pirate a movie, you're stealing a dollar from Joe the Gaffer's paycheck so he can't afford to feed his 9 kids." Sounds like bullshit, doesn't it?
-
...the AMAZING CGI work done in creating a virtual performance by Vic Tayback playing Wolverine's gruff-but-lovable uncle, BadgerMan. Gotta admit, I DID NOT see that comin'!
-
When does Spock eats Kirk's brains? And do they save the Cheerleader?
-
No quality control (read: shitty kids who talk and text through movies; if you hired ushers--FUCKING USE THEM) and the fact that going to see a movie costs well over 10 dollars for JUST a ticket. I went to a movie about two months ago and for me to take myself and enjoy a drink and a popcorn cost 27 dollars! 27 fucking dollars!!! I live in freakin' Cincinnati, OH. This isn't New York and there's no reason it should cost me that much to go enjoy a movie. That's why the DVD business does well, I can buy a DVD for 15, and get a box of popcorn and a case of soda for LESS than 27 dollars...and I don't have to put up with some disrespectful wanna be gangstas mixed in with those Guitar Hero Hero kids. JUST BECAUSE YOU PLAY GUITAR HERO DOESNT MEAN YOURE A MUSICIAN EITHER! <br> <br> Glad to get that all off my chest! Whoo!
-
...why his review of Attack of the Clones was ok to do, but for any of us to download the wolvy workprint is 'wrong'. <br><br> I've skimmed through the film, feels pretty meh tbh. I don't think an extra 15 minutes of deadpool would really solve that.

It was something I wasn't supposed to have. It came from someone's office who had no idea I had it. I was told by someone online to try Harry Knowles. I got in touch with him in Texas. Brian Michael Bendis' says its because this site is studio paid and bought for. Harry aint saying shit either since he knows hes a fucking hypocrite right now. This site is a bunch of bullshit and both of these men can go fuck themselves.
-
Watch out, man. You'd be banned by Beaks in no time if it wasn't such a moderating nightmare.
-
Didn't even know it had leaked. And banning people that discuss it? Perhaps you should heed your own advice and ban yourselves for discussing it in this article?

Why is it automatically the "honorable" thing not watching it online? I certainly wasn't going to pay for this turkey in the theater. I'm flat out fucking sick of studios bastardizing comic books (Thats Joe Quesadas job) and this is one of the biggest offenders of all time. It's a fair question Beaks, what if a film DESERVES to fail?
-
there are worse things that could happen than being banned from this site. I like coming here to read news but the actual people that run this site are a bunch of jackasses.
-
We all know how much of a mad-on AICN has for FOX, so my question is this: Could this have been an experiment in reverse-pschology from AICN? "please, please, please, whatever you do, don't send us reviews for Wolverine based on the leaked workprint that's on bittorrent and that you didn't even know about until just now because I just told you." I know then Beaks said, "blah blah blah banning people who talk about it blah blah blah some of my best frinds lost jobs because of piracy blah blah blah.." but I can't help but think that this was a calculated move to tell as many people as possible about this in order to screw with Fox while at the same time saying to Fox "But we told people NOT to watch it!" Maybe I'm seeing wheels within wheels when there's just a dumbass who, if he just shut his gob, wouldn't have accidently let thousands upon thousands of people in on the bootlegged Wolverine worprint. Thoughts?
-
I know, but is that really germane to the discussion, as a pretentious ass like Beaks would say?
-
An attempt by AICN to get people to spread the torrents. Do you really think AICN is that stupid, to say "don't send us reviews of the leaked Wolverine workprint!" thereby telling everyone about it?? If they wanted to keep this in the dark, they wouldn't have said anything about it, and just deleted all reviews that were sent it.
-
hahahahahaha.

Nipples on Batman Flames on Optimus Nuked the Fridge Trashed your Lights Banned by Beaks

...Beaks or Moriarty post one of these stories about how it's bad to see shit in advance or bad to post spoilers do they never actually address the fact that their entire lives are based around this very kind of shit no matter how many people call them on it? Oh yeah because most of the guys who work for this site are douchebags with Beaks easily being the biggest douche of them all.<p>I get so tired of reading these assholes asking for scripts and then reading said scripts and then telling us about the time they read said script, but then harping on about how we should avoid spoilers because it's apparently for our own good.<p>Stop being holier than thou assholes and I'll stop pointing out that Beaks is a fucking cock.
-
Since Beaks is using the power of attraction and actually means AICN WANTS YOUR REVIEWS... Good fucking golly does this movie suck! The opening credits were the best part of the flick. The chick in this is awful, Gambit is awful, Dominic Monaghan is completely wasted, Blob is just a human guy who eats a lot, and Ryan Reynolds ought to fire his agent after forcing him at gunpoint to skullfuck Rothman because they fucking DESTROYED Deadpool. Easily the best as-of-yet unfilmed X-character, with serious potential, and they turn him into some hack version of Mimic? And remove his mouth? HE'S THE FUCKING MERC WITH A MOUTH!!!! And the "after the credits" endings? A fanboy could have done better. Fanboys could have made this whole damn movie better! I suddenly understand why, in that promo shot, all of the actors are looking down at the ground while Jackman looks at the camera. They are embarrassed to be in this joke of a movie. SOOOO glad I won't be paying to see this.
-
it just doesn't make any sense. they've taken the back story of the 3 films and convoluted it all into something that is just a massive big mess.

This is bad news for everyone in the industry me included. Bad economy and now this. Don't get me wrong, if it sucks when I see it then fine, it still will suck, but to leak a movie a full month before it's release with no FX and no re-shoots inserted to make it better is horrible. Hope they get the fucker and hit him hard to scare others.
-
It's really great fun. Scroll this monstrous talkback and pick out the comments and users you think are Fox damage control lackeys posting comments such as, "Watching it on your computer versus first weekend with a crowd on a giant screen with a sound system. No comparison." & "Oh, and I know someone that watched it and they said there were obviously rough edits and very, very temp effects all over the place. Doesn't seem like a very fair way to pass judgement on it if you ask me." Get your ballots in early because there is a very good chance that with all of the backlash this early in the game, Harry may give Beaks the OK to start banning all of us and perhaps even just pull this story all together. Have fun, kids!
-
Hugh Jackman did, so after the major bsshing and consequent fail, he can finally stop playing Wolverine... Now get Hugh to play Snake in the Metal Gear Movie!!!
-
I want to dl this shitty movie just to stick it to Rothman's bitch ass!
-
It's par for the course to run reactions based on test screenings - even if the people running them ask the audience not to leak anything (which they usually do). So if there's a test screening before a press screening for Wolverine you won't run anything based on that? Does this "press screening only" rule only apply to Wolverine or to all future movies?
-
Indeed.
-
Please leak a workprint of Avatar online ASAP. Cheers.
-
I could care less. Xmen 3 sucked huge donkey dick and I have a feeling this will be no differnet. But, hell, I might be wrong. Could be cool. But it might suck. I don't care.

Even before the Workprint got leaked (not downloaded it btw) but thanks to everyone out there who have seen it and warned others away from wasting money on this clusterfuck of a movie.<BR><BR>Fox get no sympathy from me at all and as for the lower minions working for them they will be better off unemployed with starving children than in the service of such a corrupt/evil corporation.<BR><BR>As for the bigwigs maybe if they had actually treated the Director better and maybe if the star of this POS with money invested in the movie had the balls to stick up for said Director a little more we might have got a half decent flick<BR><BR>Rothman you fuckwit hows your day going so far?

You don't want to comment on it, yet here's a big article with over 400 hits. Makes sense...

You said it. People told FOX if this would happen if Watchmen was interfered with. I wont see FOX's Dawsons Creek version of Wolverine anyway. Movie looks really cheap especially the trailers. After fucking up 3 times its too late to pretend they give a damn about this franchise.
-
for wolverine. i didnt want to see this, after the bad reports form the sets, and the fox logo that comes up before the film, but having seen it (wait, no i didnt), i cant wait to see it in theathers, and possibly on imax. it was bad ass, and hands down the best x-men movie i've seen(erm, no i didnt). shame about deadpool and all that, but otherwise, wow. i think the problem with the showbiz industry is content, and not pirates. do you know who is downloading these films and NOT going to the movies? people who are broke as a joke and couldnt afford to see it anyway. i dropped nearly $70 on the 3d version of Monsters vs Aliens on the IMAX experience, got a decent TS copy of it(erm, no i didnt) and cant wait to own it on blu-ray, right along side my other movies. when paul blart makes crazy figures fatter than kevin james waistline, and the box office overall is UP this year, then i just dont buy this crap about the "woe is me" take on the industry. its more like inflated paychecks that need to be scaled back. how about hollywood hire less PA's to grab latte's, and just sip on a regular cup o joe they get themselves. also, i dont see the difference between this leaked workprint, and the early screeners that you clowns illegally post up here in the first place. "you are the first people to see this" / "some of the effects aren't finished yet" / "n.d.a. blah blah blah / the people who downloaded this paid the EXACT same amount that those people did to enter the screening. and its a shame you guys arent at least talking about what they did right on this film after all the naysayers and gloom and doomers. honestly this isnt gonna hurt the b.o. the poor were never gonna make it out on may 1st, but i assure you everyone who was even on the fence on this film would go see the completed film, and just for the simple reason that it was a hell of a lot more than just a couple of unfinished effects. (or was it? i'm not sure i didnt download it, that would be wrong)
-
Nicely done guys why didn't you just write, EVERYONE POST HERE!!!!<p> <p>I'm trying hard to feel sorry for FOX, no wait, no I'm not. Laughing my ass off that's what I'm doing. Laughing VERY hard indeed.

of course by brilliant, i mean much better than the others in the x-men franchise. definitely worth watching. probably go to see it in the cinema too.

At least some of us can remember what it was like to actually anticipate a movie, any movie and what going to movies used to be like before everyone hated it. Now people want to watch incomplete work on 3 inch screens and laptops and attempt poor Maslin impressions about everything under the sun from inception to release via social networking. It's far more insufferable than any bad movie could ever be.
-
Some movie experts... You can't judge a movie by the workprint? Bad acting is bad acting, out of focus shot is out of focus shot, retarded script is retarded script... Do you know how many decisions are made by watching dailies? If you can't spot something fucked up about a movie, anything, from a workprint...then that explains the good reviews for crappy flicks. I used to watch movies on old scratched up Betamax(for the youngsters, look it up..)tapes, didn't make The Thing any worse. But The Bat People was then and is still a shit movie, even in HD. No re-cutting, color correction nor re-shoots will save a stupid concept. Now I'm gonna watch the Wolverine print in nice old fucked up o' vision.... When I'm finished I'll be back to bitch sa mo....
-
I WINK got ya WINK.
-
In this day and age of technology and whatnot, how the hell you can wave your hands in the air shouting 'unfair' when a film leaks online? To compare the film industry to the music industry - the latest Pet Shop Boys album was locked down tight; no preview copies were sent out, any playbacks were in tightly monitored situations. I have no idea how much Wolverine cost, but I'm guessing upwards of $80 million, so letting 'work prints' float about is retarded. It's perfectly acceptable for AICN to print reviews of workprint screenings providing they come from the right people apparently, but when a workprint turns up online and the masses get their fourpenneth on whether it's a shitty flick or not, that's not OK? You were happy to roll with Harry's ep 2 review because it suited you. This doesn't suit you so it's boo-hoo 'piracy and the internet is killing the movie world' - no, rubbish films, endless remakes and generally expecting the populace to bend over and take it is what is killing movies. Every single person writing for AICN is a hypocrite if you don't pick the best bits of the most coherent reviews of the screener and put something together. The game has changed and it ain't cool to stick your heads in the sand.
-
"Then steal his hat. Then go to the toilet in his hat. Then send his hat to his widow. Then steal his hat again. Piracy. It's a crime." This whole thread all I can think of is that parody from The IT Crowd and that guy, pants around his ankles, crapping into a dead cop's hat. That and the stupid techno music that plays during these PSAs that I have to sit through whenever I steal a movie from the internet.

and was likely a huge cause of the horrible box office.

And most importantly it wasn't very good.
-
No, the first Hulk tanked because it wasn't very good. Unfortunately, as it was leaked, they couldn't keep a lid on it. It's opening weekend wasn't bad, but it dropped off bloody quickly on word of mouth. Because it wasn't very good, not because everyone was downloading it instead.
-
Nope in fact HK is now producing more movies than ever thanks to piracy. And look at mainland China which has a huge level of piracy and how they're not poised to overtake Hollywood as the number one producer of filmed entertainment, unlike India with it's less pirate friendly culture which is currently struggling. Guys this is pretty clear cut! Anyway I'm heading back to my burner all my Craigslist stuff is sold out and I need a new set of rims for my escalade.

with Deadpool in order to see how they have treated him. yes its true,he has no mouth,he has those claws in his arms,he looks a lot like BARAKA from Mortal Kombat and he has the ability to duplicate the powers from other mutants, like mimic or rogue from the xmen comics. <p>thank you very much FOX for fucking one of my favourite comic characters.thank you rothman.

I think the fact that the first Hulk movie sucked a family sized bag of dicks had more to do with the horrible box office than any internet leak.

Those of you justifying piracy can go choke on your dad’s hairy cock and die because seriously, there is no justification and despite what supreme fucktards like Danny Glover’s Dickhead write, studios lose plenty of revenue to piracy, especially when the quality of the film is good and can be sold for 5 bucks a pop at a swap meet or downloaded for free online. Reading some of you shit squirts talk about how you and your douchebag friends don’t have a problem with it doesn’t validate the theft but rather illuminates just what a bunch of narrow, selfish asshats all of your motherfuckers actually are. If the film is that bad, why the fuck are you yeasty twats even watching it? Answer: Because you are fucking hypocrites, losers and generally soulless little bitches who have a ridiculously overblown sense of entitlement. When shit doesn’t go your way or you can formulate some sort of pedantic, silly logic for immoral behavior, you then take whatever the fuck you want and then claim the crime is victimless.
-
I just do it. You don't like it? That's tough shit.
-
a movie early hurts its box office. that thing drops 6 months before it screens. and regarding medicinaluser, lawlz.
-
And if it's good (which i doubt), I'll pay to watch it again on the big screen. Piracy has never prevented me from going to see a movie in theaters, a movie I'm anticipating is a movie I'm going to see the way it was meant to be seen regardless. Honestly, most of the 'geek' community thinks this is gonna suck anyway, it's Joe Public (most don't even know what a torrent is) that's gonna make this film bank.
-
You've given me much joy over the years, but you've also given me an insane amount of bad quality product that I cannot get a refund for. So here's the deal: from now on I'm going to jump on any chance I can to see what a movie is like before it hits the theaters. So, yeah, I'll skim through this after work and THEN I'll decide if the movie is worth my ten bucks. And if it is worth my 10 bucks, then it'll be worth $25.00 for the blu-ray. But before I dish out the cash for your product in it's various forms, I need proof that your product has the goods. This is a pattern that you can expect to continue if you insist on expecting me to continue to pay sight unseen for an inferior product.
-
You crazy kids and your magical intertransitsuppositorytubes with your cryspace and facetwitter. You must all be genie-us's to use that crazy technomagical stuff! I plugged in my vcr and that shit started blinking at me and i just had to give my brain a rest! gosh! i don't see how you kids do it! And downloading movies sounds like something The Riddler did to Val Kilmer a few years back. Almost fucked up batman for good and yet here are you kids insisting on technological implants and looking into brain replacement computers that will run on crappy energizer batteries!<p>And I have always wanted to kill the energizer bunny. Seriously. I've been in a few fist fights here and there, but as far as humans go, I've never actually killed one of them or wanted to. Kick someone's ass? Sure but not kill them. That's serious stuff. But I'd like to kill the energizer bunny and then, not kill, but beat the fucking shit out of the guy who came up with that ad campaign. If someone buys me a gift that needs batteries and they get me energizer bunny batteries, I smash the gift over their melon fucking heads immediately. I've been known to burn their houses down too. Die, energizer bunny. Die 1000 times every night in my dreams. I kill you a thousand times in my dreams, energizer bunny. Every night. 1000 times.
-
So if you make movies like the Dark Knight and Iron Man. People will show up. Downloading is here. It's here to stay. Movies should be available legally to download on the films release. I will still go to the cinema if this happens.

This couldn't have happened to a more deserving studio
by Harry Weinstein
Well, I suppose it could have happened to the Weinstein Company, actually.
-
and for fucking around with Watchmen. <p> I can't wait to watch the 1/2-assed bootleg of this 1/2-assed movie. Deadpool with NO MOUTH??!?!?? That is truly laughable. <p> I got an idea--lets make the next Wolverine without his claws. And he's a girl. A black girl. Yeah--that's a great idea. <p> Fuckin' Fox.
-
Deadpool gets turned into a teleporting bald mute with Cyclops eyebeams?? Really? And ends with a giant nuclear tower falling on Wolvie just as he's saved by Gambit flying through the air and cutting said nuclear tower in half? riiightt.. check please
-
this is a rare occurence of a film doing the rounds in Europe first and then making it over the Atlantic. Normally, we get pissed about with release dates - The Mist took nearly a year after the US release to arrive in the UK.
-
Hey - it's Remake-Time these years. If WOLVERINE doens't get its job done at the box offices, let's get Hugh for a Prequel/Sequel/Redo-Series of HARRY CALAHAN! He's the perfect Reincarnation of Good Ol' Clint! <br> You KNOW it's true!
-
Leaking stuff like this, and then downloading it, is wrong, wrong, wrong. And if you don't think it is, ask yourself how you would feel if a project you worked on for months (sometimes years) was given away for free and without your consent. If this continues it will kill the industry. Personally, going to avoid this film like the plague. It's 20th Century Fox so it will most likely be an overproduced bland mess.
-
fuck fox<p> and fuck how they changed logan's origin story<p> oh...and the opening acting is for shit<p> hope this fucker tanks now<p> i have downloaded the entire movie, am burning it, and will hand out copies in front of 7/11
-
I have so enjoyed reading all the post/opinions from the good, the bad and the potty mouthed. I can't wait to get home and see it for myself if it's a steaming pile. This has truly been a Great Fucking DAY!!! Post on, Please!!
-
In that he plays both sides of the field.
-
The workprint is not the finished film so your opinions are useless. I will be waiting to see the actual film.
-
If the industry was getting paid proportionate amounts to say an IT Analyst like me or a mother with multiple jobs or a dude slaving 37.5 hours per week at McDonalds, then I wouldn't be making a big hoo ha about it. I don't expect them to make an equal amount BUT i don't expect them to make a ridiculous amount also. Although Piracy is wrong, I'm actually happy that it goes on for the lower class earners like me. At the end of the day, Fox and Hugh Jackman and the rest will be getting a fat greasy wage regardless of the leak. They should be proud and content with the material they produced and the wages they get paid.
-
I think he was the only one who wanted to deliver a good movie. Isn't it ironic to see this released on April Fools Day?
-
I'm not so shure. Jackman seems like a nice guy and all, buy he's the star and also a producer in this, so he probably had some creative control.
-
All you people moaning about this being leeked should remember what that FOX producer said (Rothman or something like that), when asked in a interview how the fans will like the movie, the 'cool' FOX producer basicly said "Fuck the fans", no FOX FUCK YOU! ha ha ha ha ha.
-
This movie is an epic fail. Although my opinion may not matter to you it is in fact more informed than yours at this point. But absolutely go ahead and save up for a ticket to the giant bucket of suck that opens May 1st. I will be waiting on your awesome reply. Oh, and a pox on Fox!
-
Somewhere out there, a Warner Brothers executive is laughing furiously. Hurm.
-
I love that word thanks for using it Beaks. I think the real problem is not piracy or fat cats (every industry has executives that make big $$$. Taxes and unions are what are driving jobs out of the US...Big money goes where it makes sense and peoples republic of California is a place it doesn't make sense to do business. Until there is some kind of purge of unions (which destroy the industries they infiltrate) and an end to confiscatory taxes which gives incentive for business to look for greener pastures the flight of jobs will continue.
-
So,saying you're not going to bother watching the film helps the film industry then??
-
who have pirated the movie are snarky assholes who use terms like 'teh suck' and 'epic fail'. Which goes to show, only giant douchebags pirate movies.
-
And then he got back to having forced buttsex with Jason Newstead. While the other band mates play the ocarina and rub feces on each other.
-
AICN, I respect your "hey don't send your reviews to us" stance but you could have just set a blanket junk filter using the words "my review of xmen origins" and not alerted all these geeks to go firing up their e-wires and limedonkeys. Thanks, Hollywood.
-
it was indeed the magnificent "Amazon Women On The Moon". if i recall, it was no less than Peter Boyle and Christopher Plummer as the pirates! well worth finding on DVD or, in keeping with this thread, downloading :)
-
And I hear this Ex-Man Wolf-marine movie I'm EPing is all over the fuckin internet! Do you people have no fuckin shame? That's MY fuckin movie!
-
Anyone who hasn't ever,EVER watched a pirated film, say so,if not, fuck off with your holier than attitude.

This is just an apology from FOX for X-Men: The Last Stand
by Darkknight37
And I graciously accept said apology, and will find out if I drop top coin for a midnight screening. Joking aside, this is sucky for them, but karma's a bitch when you wait for WB to finish a film before you try to extort money from it.
-
And I'm not going to watch it for free, it looks like shit.<p> I'm not one of those negative ahole talkbackers, but Fox has proven they dont give a shit about these properties or their fans beyond the profit margin.
-
movies can now be streamed...so i dont have to download, therefore, i did not commit a crime....FUCK FOX...FUCK ROTHMAN
-
Oh yeah, I'm a snarky asshole for sure. Thanks for noticing, jerk. To think you could have used your spectacular powers of insight to warn Fox ahead of time so they wouldn't embarrass themselves. Instead you waste time calling me a d-bag and a pirate, but it won't change the fact that Fox has made a steaming pile of a movie that will royally offend any fan of the X-Men.
-
How is this different than a guy downloading the movie and watching it for free and then writing a review of it any different than a guy who goes to a free test screening, signs a waiver saying he won't post anything about it online, and then sends you a review that you post? There is no difference, only if he passes the material on. Weak Beaks.
-
Think about the 70s, the last great period of originality when people actually had to go into a theater and pay money to watch a new release. Now in the age of video games, cable tv, home theater and one-click piracy they have to use the biggest trawl nets possible to the stupidest, widest audience. Remakes have that audience built in. The smarter, more original and geekier your story the more likely it will be strangled by piracy, ie: BSG and it's consistently feeble 'official' ratings forcing the changes that ruined season 3. It didn't matter that every geek in the universe was watching it online because that didn't sell the ads which pay directly towards production of the next episodes.
-
THE GODDAMN GERMANS GOT NOTHIN' TO DO WITH IT!
-
I bought the workprint for $2 before it was in theaters. It was a lousy copy but it was the best I could find in an area about 500 miles from the nearest movie theater.
-
Come on give us the goods.
-
Yeah I agree with people that the first hulk didnt tank because of piracy but becaue the movie was terrible, it was one of the few movies in a long time that i wanted to walk out on and not finish my popcorn
-
Fuck, I would turn this piece of shit off if it was on FX tomorrow.
-
and the jokes on Fox. Here's the way piracy works for me. Yes I read a lot of reviews, AiCN and JoBlo are bookmarked so I can get the skinny on what the boys and girls who review movies on a daily basis think but at the end of the day I prefer to make up my own mind. If a movie comes out, I think I should have the right to get a taste, a preview, much the same way I'd go to a music store and have a listen to an album before I buy it. 9 times out of 10 the quality of the film will suck but I get an inkling of what it's like. If I think the movie is good, you'd better believe I'd see it in the theatre too AND get the DVD (in some cases multiple copies of the same film! Take that credit crunch.) But if the movie is say... Catwoman, or the Legend of Chun Li or Dragonball, I just saved myself untold amounts of money and time by checking it out for free, not to mention sticking it to the studio in question for releasing crappy timewasters. Yeah I'm a criminal but the real crooks here are the people who spend untold millions and pass this garbage off as entertainment. If your food is underdone at the restaurant, you send it back, what can a movie fan do except write a scathing review? Peace.
-
You have a bunch of people now seeking the leaked copy. Therefore, supporting piracy.
-
In and between I cooked and cleaned and went out of my head. Going through life with blinders on, it's tough to see. I had to get up, get out from under and look for me. There's a new girl in town and she's looking good. There's a fresh freckled face, in the neighborhoood. There's a new girl in town, with a brand new style. She was just passing through, but if things work out she's gonna stay awhile.
-
ya where the hell is the lost talkback, though if you read the description of tonights ep on abc there is a major spoiler
-
You'sa sayin we'sa gonna die. <P> Never fell for it. Fell Towards It, Fell Into It, Fell Over It. but not For It. Only Boy George tumbles for ya.
-
thanks to you now i can go download Wolverine and save money! i didnt know it was available! thanks for the heads up! (/Sarcasm) LOL
-
...You cunts will never EVER say another bad thing about Ratner and X3. THAT film was fucking awesome.
-
...and watched this dreadful movie online. Seriously, people, this is worse than X-Men 3. It was worse than, Twilight, for God's sake!
-
There were a number of amaing talents that came into their own in that decade, and corporations hadn't totally took the artistry out of the industry yet. A smaller amount of piracy has nothing to do with it. If you want to blame anyone for the poor product we are now getting blame corporate America, people with short attention spans who will watch a movie just because it's called "fill in the blank popular old movie/comic/toy series", and just the general poor lack of talent we have right now.
-
This story is all over the internet so it's hardly AICN's fault. And considering they would have gotten as much shit for NOT running it, it's safe to say they made the right call.
-
...Figuratively speaking, of course.
-
All that work into bringing this film to life and it all come to april fools day 2009. <p> honestly, i reckon Fox leaked this on purpose, write it off, claim insurance, blame the internet and help rupert murdock get one step closer to owning the cyberspace and shutting all of us down in the process. <p> hahaha. nah im joking. the film is shit. it'll always be shit even when the visuals are finished and the editing tightened. people don't like shit. except those 2 girls with the 1 cup.
-
April 1, 2009, 3:14 p.m. CST
So, AICN just told me that I can watch Wolverine...
by TheMarineBiologist
...early.<p> I wouldn't have looked for the leak, but Beaks said it was a good idea to look for it.<p> Nice, AICN, nice...

We're in a recession, yet everyone is still going to the movies. Won't pay the bills, but they'll pay $10-12 bucks to watch a movie.<br><br> Like all things, the hardest working people (Film Crew-even union) gets screwed, while the same overpaid dickweeds (Hollywood Executives and some actors) continue to get work. Now, piracy does affect a segment of the bottom line no doubt. But not to the degree that they want you to think (its only around about 3-8%) unlike the music industry which is around 20-35%. <br><br> Personally, I think people who buy or participate in piracy suck. Those who do it, don't have a artistic bone in their body. Cause if they did, they would know how it feels when someone steals your work. Imagine if someone walked in your room, stole your ipod and PS3. How would you feel? And that's the whole point. Hollywood isn't hurting.<br><br>
-
One user wrote on aintitcool.com: "The CGI is missing and the movie looks horrible without it. <p> "Even if you see the workprint you're still going to have to go see it in the theatre to fully experience the full movie with CGI effects fully intact." <p> (who the fuck are they kidding???)
-
Are you gonna review this over on aintitbalenews...or take the "moral high ground"? Inquiring minds want to know...you amateur fuck :)
-
I agree, I think that Hugh Jackman wanted to deliver a really bad ass movie. Just like Thomas Jane wanted to deliver a good Punisher. That's hard to do though when the studio has the last word. With that said. I don't like what I've heard so far, but it is April Fool's Day. I read in one review that Ryan Reynold's scenes were very short, which means that all that extra filming they did a few months back is not in this leaked copy. So I'm going to wait until May. I'm still not going to pay $10 for it. I'm going to get it from the hatian guy at the chicken shack.
-
No one cared about fucking Deadpool or what they did to him. People are going to see the movie about WOLVERINE. Face it people, I love the site and read everyone's talkback but Watchmen and all it's legal bullshit is done with. It was a fuckin one week wonder that no one gives 2 shits about, people still have no idea it was a comic book, holy grail of comics my ass...
-
I'd rather order and pay for the full version of that film than pay to see this pile of shit, after what I'm hearing about it.
-
Period. Pro-pirate types say information wants to be free. Information wants nothing. THEY want information to be free, even when it cost someone millions to create. Ask them how they'd feel if they stopped in Penney's and stole a shirt. Do shirts want to be free?
-
One minute FOX is fucking over Watchmen and all the internet nerds are shitting their pants and boycotting Fox. Then Fox's biggest summer movie leaks on the net and all of a sudden AICN predictably forgets about how they hated them weeks earlier and now all of a sudden want to help and defend Fox because times are hard for the industry. <p> Give me a fucking break. Try remembering back more than 2 weeks.
-
Why can't these numbskulls get it through their heads? People don't download as well as go to movies, they download instead of for a movie they would not have seen anyway. Any fans of Wolverine are going to pay for it regardless. People who realize it's just another lame superhero movie(As opposed to a great superhero movie) will download it and not mind. To blame theaters losing their jobs because of piracy is just naive.
-
Said it before,say it again,anyone,ANYONE on here NEVER,EVER watched a pirate movie,not even is a kid?Perhaps a rare horror,or ET,anything?? I doubt it.
-
The plain and simple fact of the matter is this: if your film is good, it will do well at the box office. "Taken" has proved this beyond doubt. "Wolverine" is a shit movie. No fucking way is an extra 15 minutes of CGI sparkly going to improve this turd. It DESERVES to fail and no one should be forced to pay for this tripe. It is completely irrelevant that a bunch of people worked and slaved to bring this picture to theaters. All the people who worked on this movie WASTED THEIR FUCKING TIME! The plain and simple fact of the matter is this: they created a wholly worthless and unsatisfying product. No one should be forced to pay for this shit. If this movie fails, it will have failed because it deserved to. No one with even the slightest amount of taste would watch this movie and walk away thinking they got their money's worth. The message that Hollywood should be taking away from this is: MAKE BETTER FUCKING MOVIES! Unfortunately, I doubt-fuckheads that they are-the point will make it across. Fuck this movie. Everyone please download it.
-
All is right in the world. How funny how the universe wraps everything up. They tried to steal and shutdown Watchmen (even turned in a profit) and now they will lose that from THEIR biggest Superhero movie. How utterly satisfying to know their greed did not go unpunished.

It's not that 'hollywood is hurting', it's that piracy hurts the
by Darth_Inedible
When you're dealing with a market rife with piracy savvy consumers you have to aim at the broadest, basest audience to ensure the same return that you got when everyone had to pay to see your product. Nobody's saying that Hollywood is going to starve, but you can bet that they're going to make their money by churning out as few gigantic mega-tentpole 70-80s-remake 3D blockbusters as possible.
-
Just screw him.
-
Yes there is a carnival scene
-
I'll be posting a review of this epic in a day or two. Thanks for the sterling contributions by the way.
-
But I don't feel a single amount of remorse about it, because at least 3 times a month I still plop down 20 bucks for my girlfriend and I to see a movie worth our time (ok, sometimes just worth her time). Not to mention the 4 dollar sodas and 8 dollar hot dogs. So yeah, piracy is 'wrong wrong wrong', but I don't give a fuck fuck fuck.
-
I never download any shitty bootleg cam copies of new movies. If anything, piracy might prevent me from buying a dvd, but not seeing a movie in theaters.
-
And I think Hollywood owes a sh!tload of Pirated movies like Back taxes.
-
Fuck you and your out of work friend asshole.
-
And I think Hollywood owes me a sh!tload of Pirated movies like Back taxes.
-
People actually had to go to a theater and PAY MONEY to see your independent film in the '70s. You couldn't check it out on youtube or download the torrent. You didn't have to sell your soul to Warner Brothers to get something off the ground because you could actually make money distributing it yourself to paying audiences. And to people who say this is because of a lack of independent theaters today, I urge you to go ahead and start an indy theater in your town and see how unsustainable that model is in the internet age.
-
1) movies are overpriced, and the people that work on them are overpaid. 2) most of the nerds that download wolverine will see it in the theater and buy it on dvd, anyway. out of x-men loyalty, and because action movies suck on computer monitors. 3) why not post viewer reviews? you did it for every futurama movie, which people obviously downloaded before its release date. i mean, if you're going to post an article letting people know about the leak, you might as well post reviews 4) i say this as someone who does not download, because i'm happy with netflix, and i don't care enough about any upcoming movies to go the torrent trouble. aicn's the shit, but file this article under 'lameness' next to the christian bale defense article.
-
It's shit for the most part... I can see how some of the finished fx might be interesting but the ending was horrible. Hopefully they fix it because, one thing in particular happens (if you've watched it you know) that just fucks the whole movie...
-
Watching it tonight.
-
TONIGHT!
-
`Hurts the fans of the film`-how?
-
Who would be a fan of that piece of crap story?
-
I'm pretty sure there won't be many of those after watching this piece of shit.
-
That's right, suck my big hairy sweaty balls. I really don't give a shit about this movie, but I after what they did to some of our beloved 80s franchises, after assraping Hitman fans with the movie of the same name... I won't miss one chance to insult these bastards. And in other news, I know no one gives a shit, but I'm going to bang a really hot italian chick in 2 weeks.
-
you bastards! *sobs*
-
WTF when did they release that memo as I sure as hell missed it.<BR><BR>They will never care about the fans as Rothman said so himself "FUCK THE FANS, WE ALREADY GOT THERE MONEY" <BR><BR>Ummm not this time Asshole.

over this piece of crap is almost as funny as someone going to jail for releasing a workprint of the Ang Lee Hulk movie. Don`t drop the soap...

Love it, boasting about sex you haven't had yet.

in the thread. <br><br> I understand that a site has to grow to survive, I like to think the beginning of the site was its teenage years. It worked from the outside and got secret scoops and was fighting the "man". <br><br> As the site grew up it started getting invites to screenings and film sets, and, if it wanted to keep doing those things it had to grow up and accept it couldn't still try and be the rebel. So the site gives up one thing in the hopes of gaining something better. That's perfectly fine and I get it. <br><br>What I don't get is this sudden turn around, this holier than thou attitude that downloading the film would be terrible, reviewing it would be terrible and it would leave all of the films cast and crew homeless and penniless. <br><br> It's been pointed out that AICN have posted reviews of workprint films before, Harry himself has! So to act like that comes across as condescending and hypocritical. Especially after a few weeks ago it was "boycott fox!". Now it's "go see it in the cinema!". <br><br> I'm ok with you not wanting to promote piracy, not wanting to have reviews of the workprint on your site. But I just think the tone of the article and the way you talk about it comes across as if you're on an incredibly high horse. Which is bull.

Pictures/Video or it never happened OR all along was really your hand with a mini dark wig stuck on top as you pleasured and talked dirty to yourself in an Italian accent.
-
sorry but i wish the guy would die.
-
I guess that's why Firefly was shown in the incorrect order. I guess that's why Tru Calling was axed while it got better and better. I guess that's why Jonny Zero was shown in the incorrect order. I probably forgot a lot of other series that had lots of potential. They screwed up Deadpool. He is the merc without mouth.
-
Twat.
-
Cuz we all know you've watched this.
-
if harry reviews a workprint or a prerelease, it's ok. if someone sends in a test screening review for an unfinished film it's ok... so there's basically you all in the gilded castle where rules can be bent, and then everyone else. let's face it aicn made its name doing exactly what you're up on your high horse condemnding. meanwhile merrick is dealing with his asperger's syndrome and adding up the price of bond dvds.
-
fuck about Fox. Seriously.
-
never downloaded a movie, and attended early screenings and not once written it up. i just don't understand how aicn can take a side here.
-
"We Don't Want Your WOLVERINE Reviews"...but if you have a bootleg Phantom Menace script we'll take it. This story is ridiculously hypocritical. This site is founded on stolen/leaked material from studios. But now that it's a very small part of the same system leach on you suddenly don't approve it all?
-
So they spend a fortune putting adamantium in Wolvie, when he goes running off he decides he has to be killed? Best of luck with that. The whole scene with the motorbike and the helicopter looked dreadful and I doubt any amount of tidying up will help. And how come it crashes and blows up, Wolvie sparks a convenient trail of gasoline, chopper blows up again! Gambit breaks up a fight with Wolvie and Sabretooth but why? He was kidnapped by him, why help him escape? And converting Deadpool into a mute with Cyclops eyes and full length swords in his arms was truly daft. And Adamantium Bullets to reset his memory of the entire film? I could do with some of those myself. FX and wires aside, it was dreadful and you Fox shills and plants trying to save it can go fuck yourselves.

Still don't know how the fans are being`hurt`-if you want to watch it,watch it,if you don't,don't,simple choice. No-one's forcing anyone to watch an unfinished print. Tell you what though,it's always interesting to compare a workprint with the finished product. Wonder if anyone here whining about piracy ever understood the value of pirate copies of the`Blade Runner`workprint and the like?
-
calling them out for them actually following up on what legally they were supposed to do, and the constant bitching on tom rothman (which is deserved no less). it's just hilarious to see you people go all white knighty. in a weird way i think the hypocrisy actually emboldens impulsive adolescent morons to download this film to spite you all, because it looks like you have a special relationship now.
-
No real interest in seeing this otherwise. Who cares? As for the illegal copy-fuck that shit. Why bother?
-
...FOX's stance with that whole "We are encouraged by the support of fansites condemning piracy..." blah blah blah. I signed up for AICN to post my thoughts only yesterday, and here is my overwhelming feeling: this sight is so fuckin hyppoctitical its amazing. fuck beaks and harry. they were sitting front fucking row last night to see this shit movie on their computers and we all know it. those two cocksuckers wanna play FOX and Friends, go ahead. but not this kid. beaks, harry, take this faggot movie and shove it up your asses, you fuckin tools. i hope you and this site rot in hell.

(Sentinels) you know I'm right.
-
They posted it when Watchmen might be stalled. They linked to shitted talk rants. Remember eat all the dicks. Now AICN are saving themselves the AD dollars I am sure Fox will give them when Wolverine puts out flash trailers. If I see 1 Wolverine ad on this site...whoa brother.

I said screw him. All to heck.

...how many FUCKS were in cocknasty's last post? that prok is serious. AND SO AM I! FUCK THIS SHIT MOVIE! I WANTED TO PUKE ALL OVER MYSELF THINKING I MIGHT HAVE PAIDE TO SEE DEADPOOL FALL INTO A FUCKIN NUCLEAR REACTOR

1. You don't care about the work that was put into them, or the idea behind the film, whether it was great or not, I guarantee its better than you can do. Write your own million dollar movie script and then you're allowed to say what sucks. Thanks
-
I've no doubt he will catch the culprit and have all responsible parties shipped to his secret island that doubles as a Fox torture lab where he and his dominatrix-clad Chinese piece-of-ass wife will go all torture porn on them.<p> "Cuz I'm Rupert Murdoch, billionaire tyrant, and that's how I roll, yo!"
-
HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I don't give two shits about the debate on piracy it's not as a danger to the Movie studios as some would make it out to be. because if it's a good film, people will flock to see it. Taken has been out on the torrents for quite sometime before the US theatrical release which took in a lot of BO returns.<p>Hollywood has been staying afloat thanks to comicbook adaptations and to some extent; shitty remakes.Let those fuckers come up with something original for once instead of bitching about piracy (which I don't condone, but if it's free, what the fuck?) as me and my friends shell out our hard earned dollars for Blu ray DVDs and theater releases.
-
... we appreciate GOOD work, GOOD ideas. i myself tend to believe that perhaps shit movies getting leaked is a good thing. so people can see it online, for free, and not waste their hard-earned cash on it. and as for this movie? any fuckin retard with a little cash for fx can write a better movie than this. so why dont you im your buddies at FOX and tell em i said GO FUCK YOURSELF, YOU FILTHY COCKSUCKERS
-
Hows that Rothman dick taste Harry/Beaks? Probably tastes like cold hard CA$H. <P> This has nothing to do with "Oh, look its freeeeeeeee!!!!" It has to do with the fact that we've been hearing nothing but bad news and now we can confirm it. You've desecrated yet another potentially amazing film. This is the bed Fox has made by making such gems as: <br> X3 <br> AVP <br> AVP:R <P> Die Hard 4 <P> FF4 <P> FF4:RotSS <P> Hitman <P> Daredevil <P> Ghost Rider <P> Do I REALLY have to keep going? ALL of those films had the potential to be absolutely mind-blowing...ALL are utter SHIT! <P> Still got that work print of AOTC lying around Harry? How about that TPM leaked script that you BUILT YOUR FUCKING CAREER ON?!?! Thanks for the ethics lesson. Now go shove it right up your fat ass.

That's pretty much all that needs to be said. What an asshole.

"We forensically mark our content so we can identify sources..."
by Leafar the Lost
According to the statement, it appears that FOX is going to arrest not only the people who released the movie, but also the people who saw it. So, all you geeks who thought you saw a free movie will now be paying for it the hard way, by spending time in jail getting your buttholes violated. I quote, "We forensically mark our content so we can identify sources that make it available or download it. The source of the initial leak and any subsequent postings will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law - the courts have handed down significant criminal sentences for such acts and the last person who committed such a crime is still in jail." Tommy Rothman enjoys using his power to punish geeks by throwing them in jail, and then forcing them to see his movies 24 hours a day. Get ready for Hell, bitches!
-
Argh, that's the worst attempt at defending a shit film I've ever heard, I hate that logic. <br><br> "Murr you couldn't paint a painting/write a book/direct a film, so you can't have an opinion on whether it's good or not!" <br><br> Wtf? So only people who have made one of those things themeslves can have opnions on other works? Becasuse I've not made a film I can't point out if a film is shit? If it has a crap script or acting? Don't talk bollocks.

of course he watched it. Don't let his sob story fool you. Guess all those reports of theater attendance being up and all those B.O. Records being broken isn't enough for this upcoming and "staggering" transition. Guess your buddy will have to get coffee for another empty suit, Beaks.

I have never been fucked or fucked anyone after filling my cock with acid, but I have a strong feeling that it would suck!
-
...I have to agree with the folks pointing out the obnoxious hypocrisy from the powers-that-be at AICN. It's pretty clear that their attitude towards the behaviors that obtained the original kinds of "scoops" that generated the news that was "cool" back in the day are now the tactics that are not just frowned upon but sneered at -- now that AICN has very clearly become something of a publicity arm of the studios. Oh well. They know it. We know it. Time to move on.
-
I was going to see this at the cinema - I really was - and yet I could not resist and downloaded the workprint. For the first 3/4 of the movie it was great - and then they shat all over it. Deadpool - OK - I could almost live with the adamantium swords - but the teleporting?? the optic blasts?? Oh for fucks sake!!! The last 20 minutes of this movie are utter shit. They unfortunately destroy the previous hour and 20 that I was liking a lot - maybe even loving a little. Apparantly there is 15 mins missing from this movie - lets hope its the last 15 minutes, rewritten and reshot because I have never seen a movie kill its ending as badly as this - and I saw Reign of Fire!!!
-
i couldnt give a fuck anyway, i wouldnt download it much less see it in a theater or on DVD
-
But I'm not a fanboy. Looking at this purely as a mindless action flick it's really not too bad.

Someone please confirm for me the Cyclops vision / Deadpool thin
by Particularly Hard Vato
I mean seriously, if the idiots at Fox don't have the decency to respect the comic book stories they interpret in to film by simply NOT ADDING RIDICULOUS PLOT POINTS THAT ARE NOT PART OF MAJOR CHARACTERS' BACKSTORIES, then I see no reason to pay money to see this. One of the things I loved so much about the Dark knight was the way Nolan had renvisioned the Batman universe witha good dose of realism and any changes he made were neccessary to that end. that is whythe Joker worked so well- the idea of an acid back was not realistic. But what he did was better- he grounded the character in reality. But Fox unnecessarily adding things like mutant abilities to Deadpool he never had is simply ridiculous. It shows that Fox truly has no respect for the fans of the material. There is no reason to reward that kind of movie making. It's time these jackasses learned to treat both their subject matter and their fans with respect. WB loves Pirate Bay!
-
thas a fact
-
I agree with you. 3/4 of the movie was good and maybe even very good. The Deadpool part killed it.
-
I'm sorry but that's just bullshit, how do you track when someone watches a re-encoded piece of video? It's not possible. I understand they want to preserve their box office opening but lying to people who will know you're lying is just insulting. And given what they've done to Deadpool it's not like people were excited about this film in the first place...
-
...lets collaborate on a movie man.
-
i pretty sure Taken was out on dvd in the U.K well before the theater release in the US and thats made over 100 million in the theater
-
is why people keep bashing on rupert murdoch and saying how pissed off he must be right now. you do know rupert murdoch has nothing to do with the Fox Entertainment division, which is headed up by the sloth that is tom rothman. get your facts straight people, damn.
-
..made such a stink over Watchmen. They realized that once word of mouth got around on this movie, they had a bomb on their hands, and were going to need that extra money to make up for it. Bad form Fox. Bad form.
-
Where's your integrity AiCN? More importantly, where are your balls? Fox have continued to fuck us for years and we just bent over and took it, quite frankly it's about time they got a shot of cock in the ass for a change.
-
But this: "We forensically mark our content so we can identify sources that make it available or download it."<br><br>That's not possible, douchebags. Do you really think the geeks are that stupid? You can forensically mark it so you can find out who originally leaked it, but that's pretty much it. Figure out who downloaded it? Now, you're just trying to scare people.<br><br>Fortunately, most people won't have any real interest in watching this movie for free. Downloading takes time. Watching a movie also takes time. -
What movie did you watch? There was no character development, no chemistry, the plot was silly and cliched from scene 1, the dialog was embarrassingly cheesy, and the movie had no flow. Perhaps the missing footage will fill in some of the gaps in the movie's timeline and help explain the motivations behind the characters' actions. This was awful from the beginning.
-
The thing about Taken is that is was good. Wolverine wont get word of mouth like Taken did. But it will make some kind of money. I loved Taken. Even the trailer was nice. But this so-called WOlverine movie looked bad from the gate. Less money. Same story. Not dark just more of Logan getting his ass-kicked and a few curse words. Still no blood, more love and kissing. An adult Twilight. Excruciating amount of wife-beaters and FOX interference everywhere make this a so-what movie. No costumes, no Imax, no 3D.

ill bet if we wrote a script like that, FOX would produce it. fuckin assfuckin queers that they are
-
..and I'll do it using my usual flawless LOGIC ( R.I.P George) <P> The studios think that because someone downloads a movie they'll never pay to see/own it. Lets end this debate right now, shall we? <P> We'll use TDK as the example because it's current and disputably the highest grossing film of all time, an Oscar winning film and a critic/fan favorite. Its also made by WB but thats another story... <P> So according to the assumptions of FOX and other studios, if they look at my HD and find a DVD quality rip of TDK, they WON'T find it on my DVD rack. Well sorry to disappoint but you'll actually find both. A further investigation will also reveal 3 ticket stubs for TDK in my desk drawer, 2 of which are for the IMAX version, which is twice the price of a regular ticket. Now why is this? The answer is simple... <br> Because it a movie WORTH buying and supporting! Thats it... mystery solved. The film-makers, studio, actors, writers, producers and everyone down to the caterers gave 110% on that film and it SHOWS! More importantly, they RESPECTED THE FANS AND SOURCE MATERIAL. <P> Now lets flash forward 5-6 months after Wolverine has opened and now is hitting DVD. If you would look on my HD, my DVD shelf or in my desk drawer, you will not find a shred of evidence that "Wolverine" ever even happened. Why? BECAUSE IT FUCKING SUCKS!!!! Its not a film worth owning/seeing/supporting. Its poorly made/acted/written/shot/paced and I bet even the food on the set wasn't much better than steamed toast. <P> You want a successful film that fans will be happy to spend their hard earned money to see and support? Then make it a GOOD FILM! <P> Piracy has absolutely no effect on a persons decision to spend money on a film. Shit I've bought 3 different versions of "Oldboy" since I first saw it as a bootleg. Why? Because I love it and I can tell the film makers did as well. Watching Wolverine was like watching a kid get more and more frustrated with his new big ass Lego set and by the end, he's just throwing the pieces at the wall or shoving them up his nose. <P> Make better movies FOX, end of story.

Damn, I remember when leaks were the most badass news to speak on, when the internet was in its infancy. Since this is the #1 way of getting any movie information, now rebel sites are all apart of the evil empire. They are all at risk of bullying so much, that they stay loyal by straddling the fence with who they used to be. You don't want to be a site that condones these actions? Stop reporting it then. You are not that site anymore with the ability to post something that is so scoop worthy anymore. This place is a haven for friends of insiders that walk on eggshells in order to protect their relationships with people who can get them tickets to advance screenings. We'll,here's an advance screening, review away.
-
Forensically mark this, bitches.

"You don't care about the work that was put into them, or the idea behind the film, whether it was great or not, I guarantee its better than you can do. Write your own million dollar movie script and then you're allowed to say what sucks." Are you a filmmaker? If not,YOU are forbidden to express your opinion on any film from now on.This also applies if you are not a sportsman/musician/artist/etc etc. If I see ANY comments from you with a personal opinion of a movie,I will demand that you remove them immediately. Cock.

Moriarty: It's taken me almost 25 hours to download SPIRITED AWAY I remember before this site, back in the old newsgroup days, Harry was THE GUY to get you bootlegs, leaked script, workprints, etc. This site was built on that. But now it's wrong and costs people in hollywood jobs? Nah, now they don't condone it because it means Hugh Jackman's assistant won't write emails to Harry as Hugh saying how he's his best friend. Now it means no XXXXL Wolverine T-shirts. The point of sites like this (and the old corona site, etc) were to seize the new frontier of the internet, where everything was available, and give readers access to stuff they won't find in variety or anywhere else. I guess maybe call it over-saturation, maybe "maturity," but that's not the case anymore. I'd be fine with this is all of you at AICN would just go ahead and say "Yes, we condoned piracy in the past." Also, would you be so opposed to piracy if this was a leak of "Meet the Spartans" or "Epic Movie" and not a "geek tentpole?" I highly doubt it.

Why did Gambit lose his accent in the end? How do they plan on making a Deadpool spin off when they killed him off? Why are Silver Fox and Emma Frost sisters? Why is Emma Frost so ugly? Where did teen Scott get ruby quartz lense glasses? I'm guessing Victor Creed and Sabertooth are two seperate characters in movie canon. I have a lot of gripes with this film. It genuinely upsets me.

A Very Elegant Written F Bomb: Outside Observation From Michigan
by lostinmyroom1981
I have been coming to this site for years. I have been a socially constructed labialised fan boy ever since my parents fell into the marketing scheme of the late 90s known as the return of Star Wars. Back then, my parents would buy me all those Kenner action figures with what money they could muster up, ever since I was hooked on the movie marketing machine. .. Oh how the internet really picked up in anticipation for the Star Wars prequel known as the Phantom Menace. It was a real innocent time, before the dark side consumed all, so to speak. I truth I am not sure how I found Aint It Cool News. But once I did I would come here almost every day and read what material they could dig up. Us fans wanted something so bad, we could taste it, and we the consumers needed to know what are dreams would be like. And as we eventually found out, our dreams never even materialized. Time went by, most of the population of this site had to go to college, break up with girlfriends, watch their parents grow older. The same people who ran the site had to do the same. As the internet has changed everything it now must be the same. There is no room for sharing, trading, or getting anything for free in the simulated world in which we now live. The internet it abstract, it is lucid, but like everything else in your feeble lives it is now officially owned. How ironic it truly is that this occurred on April fools day. While the Billionaires are fighting Pirate Bay in world court, Hulu is advertising on your TV set. Free programming for all, brought to you by NBC, ABC, FOX, and the Federal C C. I am not sure. I know Wolverine is only one shameless attempt and making money, much like Marvel itself. It’s a system of deceit, assimilation, and socialization. And while most suffer in this country because of credit card bills, medical bills, and starvation the corporations (S) morally suffocate us with their hypocrisy of dare I say, a juvenile plethora of bullshit. Were not children anymore, don’t let them talk to you like children. This site is over. It has officially been consumed by everything you hate. We have made them rich, fat, and allowed their terrible uneducated babble filter the very cyberspace ways that were free from such a physical tyranny. Much like face book, My Space, and Amazon ( most likely goggle) Aint It super Cool high five News is a marketing contraption for the brainwashing elite. Its over here… Move on if you are a fan… The people who run this site should be ashamed of themselves. Thank you for the years, there are many good people on these boards, much like there is throughout America. But this is a day when a new site should be started by fans who hold free speech as well their personal freedom the foremost priority in their short lives. First that letter from the home schooled writer of the Watchmen movie ( how did that blue tiger get formed by the way?) and now this “obey the man talk”. Its about time, put these morally condemning hypocritical assholes out of business. Do it for America. America fuck ya! Sincerely A middle class fan… …
-
If AICN hadn't posted spy reports back in the day, it would have never become what it is today. Yup. They're sellouts, but they have been for a loooong while now. It's harder and harder to visit here without Moriarty's reviews and articles. The bad thing is, his new site sucks as well. Oh well.
-
Just watch the trailers, you'll see the whole movie.15-20 minutes isn't going to help this film. The film feels like a cheap televison show. They butchered Deadpool. The poster with the characters looking down sums it up.I feel bad for Hugh Jackman though. Hey Rothman, you know what they say about Karma, F*** you!Don't insult the fans that care about these characters and would pay their hard earned money to see a quality film. Headgeek=Corporate suckup geek.I guess if this movie came out say 12 years ago like say Batman&Robin, then it would be "cool" to rip it.Joel Shumacher forgot to email Headgeek to kiss his butt for a positive word of mouth review.Let me guess,Harry's going to LOVE Wolverine:Origins.
-
Like the law means anything. I've got a question. If the FBI arrests me and I go to jail and lose my house, will the government bail me out. After all, my theft amounts to exactly ZERO dollars (I would never, ever, for the life of me watch Wolverine at the movies or on DVD and as it stands I wont even waste my time downloading it) but corporations can steal...what is it...billions? Fuck them in the ass. Also, props too AICN and beaks for updating with blatant bullshit propoganda.
-
... is a fat, spineless sellout. Fuck that queer
-
According Moriarty its because they are now "insiders" that they can see how their early actions hurt the very thing they love. I think, in simple english, they mean "Now that the industry has almost allowed us to nearly get our big toe in the door, we must suck satans cock HARD and furious."
-
some Wolverine stuff I got from a ABC staffer's home computer
-
The thing about Terminator Salvation or Transformers 2 is that we would gladly pay to see those in theaters seeing as they are big movies that want to please fans. Wolverine however is controlled by the studio that doesnt care about making movies good. Which is what people are starting to understand. Wolverine can be just as big as any other blockbuster. However, for a summer release I really dont see anything visually stunning about this movie. The characters dont look entertaing or drastically different from each other in any way, plain looking sets, too much sun in a movie thats supposedly dark. No thanks FOX. After watching Street Fighter and Dragonball on the same night, Its clear you care shit about how your movies turn out. No other studio would treat these properties this way. Marvel, take us home baby.
-
"Fox Home Video's newly inaugurated strategy of removing "extras" from DVDs sent to rental stores ran into trouble this week as thousands of buyers of the Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire discovered that the extras, such as the "making of" documentary and deleted scenes, which were advertised on the packaging were not included on the disc itself. On her Deadline Hollywood Daily website, Nikki Finke noted that so many complaints poured into Amazon, that the online retailer posted an alert notice reading, "We are aware that special features were missing from a number of Slumdog Millionaire DVDs. Fox has set up a hotline telephone number (1-888-223-4FOX) for those consumers who may have purchased a version that does not contain special features. Upon calling the hotline, these consumers will be able to have their disc replaced for one containing special features. Fox regrets any inconvenience this has caused." These greedy, scummy fucks are WHY people fucking pirate. Let The Right One In is another good example. You can download a nearly perfect copy from the net. Or if you purchase it in an American store, you run the 50/50 risk of getting some bastardised version Magnolia pictures thought would be more appealing. Also, I visit IMDB out of habit, The Onion A.V. Club for news, interview and reviews and AICN to bitch and moan and talk about shit and gossip. AICN was the only one of the three reporting on it.
-
"Dragon Ball Energy? D.B.E.... catchy!" Oh, fuck Fox.
-
...then we need to fuck it right back in
-
EXACTLY! I remember coming to AIC every day when they launched because this was wear EVERYTHING leaked. Now its a corporate marketing tool in disguise. Notice how Harry and Beaks haven't said anything on the subject? Its because their corporate masters haven't given them permission to yet. That "update" was noting more than a muzzle.
-
i mean, seriously. he's the least functional "journalist" i've ever seen. tila tequila's myspace blog is more revelvant and thoughtful than his posts.
-
Fuck you Fox.
-
FOX needs to reexamine it's security protocols. If you think its safe to leave large piles of money on your front lawn for anyone to steal, don't be so shocked and appalled when someone actually takes advantage of the opportunity. That being said, piracy is dirty... and sexy- but wrong, like sex with farm animals.
-
Thats actually what they would do regardless of piracy. Its one of the many reasons no one gives a fuck about what happens to the studios. Same with the fact that instead of giving us what we want, namely giant ass imax screens that destroy the act of watching something on a computer screen, these cheap cunts try and force gimmicky junk on us like 3D, and if Katzenbergs to be believed, they will end up charging us to buy our own glasses. Piracy has exsisted since the early 80's, and TV has exsisted as direct competition for longer. Its been proven, beyond a doubt, that piracy at worst has little effect on returns, and in some cases, like Taken, seems to boost returns. What FOX is worried about is word of mouth. The best kind of advertising you can get, will work against them because they are cheap, lazy, greedy fucks. They are con men. They are selling a shit product, and they don't want anyone to know. So fuck em.

Not a review for a movie that i did not download from piratesbay
by namasteandgoodluck
So I wouldn't know that it's a huge piece of shit. I wouldn't know that the story completely had nothing to do with Wolverine's origin, that the acting sucked....basically I wouldn't know to tell you not to go see this piece of shit. Oh yeah, I do know...Fox can eat a dick. Fox can eat all the dicks and just when Fox thinks that's all the dicks they can eat, wrong; they can eat MORE dick.
-
Beaks - "All I can promise is that we won't run a single review until the movie screens for press (be it junket or otherwise)." But we'll run a shitload of reviews for movies that are test screening (which were not for press), or post reviews for scripts (like Superman) that haven't been made. WTF!? This site was made on posting reviews from test screenings, what is the difference?
-
Two examples right out of the gate in Dragonball and X-Men Origins: Wolverine's Tale as Told By The Gay Guy from the Oscars of how you do not care about the source material. Get any jackoff director to take something so sacred to others, and see if it can be pimped to the fullest. It's like George Lucas secretly seized your studios and starting spreading his failness onto as many properties as possible. Star Wars RIP Aliens RIP Predator RIP X-Men DOA Fantastic Four DOA Die Hard RIP Too bad you guys aren't run by General Motors.
-
Just kidding. You're a douchebag!! You sound like an accountant for Fox who's pissing over the .0003% of revenues you're losing over pirated copies of Die Hard sold at the Swap Meet. You fuckin little worm! Obviously the only one who would be pissed at pirating is someone who thinks he's losing money from all this, someone in the industry. So you're not getting paid enough? Well, think about the working class joe who had to shell out $50 to take his kids to watch Star Wars I, II, or III just to make them happy and realize he wasted $150 he could have spent on clothes or food for them, instead of taking them to watch $100 million cartoons made to rob moviegoers of their hard-earned money. You FUCK!! You're no better than those RIAA assholes who want to sue every single person who downloaded a 10 year old song on the internet and send them to jail, all for losing a microscopic piece of profit to pay for the flooring in your Malibu beach house. I shit on you, you greedy bastards! You guys and losing shit, while making us pay more to watch your movies, hoping... just hoping... that we didn't just waste $10 to watch some overhyped piece of shit... which is what you put out there 75% of the time. So shut the fuck up and post Wolverine back online so I can watch this potential crapfest for free... and maybe, if it is halfway decent, and not as shitty as these people say, I'll take my friends and watch it in the theater as well as recommend it to others.... But probably not.
-
All you were doing is adding publicity, so more people were sharing it via torrents.
-
Cry me a river. Thanks for illuminating us to why piracy is bad. Its because, and I'm not quoting directly here, "You are cock suckers. I hate you. Continue rant." Now I see the light!

Remember when FOX wasn't a fucking joke?
by CHRISTIAN_BALE_TRASHED_MY_LIGHTS
Remember the days when FOX was actually a legitimate studio that didn't take properties with a built-in fanbase they could manipulate and turn them to shit? This was the studio that brought us Star Wars for fuck sake.<p>And look at them now. What a joke. It seems a crime that good people are losing their jobs in other professions whilst the jokers at the top of the FOX foodchain keep fucking us over again and again.
-
It's tayback time!!!
-
A lot of the problem is too that in the old days, all of this information came from low level, unessential production personnel, whether it was PAs, writer's assistants, assistant editors, etc. The problem is now sites like AICN have direct contact to the hire ups, that the low level folks wouldn't dare leak stuff (unless told to, which happens a lot), in fear of losing their jobs. I haven't heard of Harry doing this, but I know for a fact that Devon from CHUD has gotten many PAs fired by calling producers and giving up his source in exchange for confirming a rumor. Why should they care about protecting a low level source when the info will be "leaked" to them by the marketing department or the producers themselves? That's lead to the studios having essentially full contol over what info gets out there. Hell, most marketing companies have their own talkback "personality" and a team of people posting positive reviews and comments on multiple sites. Nobody is gonna risk their jobs to leak information anymore. I don't condone piracy at all, as I've worked in the industry since before AICN existed, but something about the righteous indignation of this article just doesn't sit right with me.
-
I think reviewing the first draft of a script does far more damage than leaked workprints, especially ones with unfinished effects.
-
I saw a PRISTINE copy - PUH RIS TINE - long before the fanboys started camping outside the Ziegfeld. <P> Wolverine? I wouldn't waste bandwidth on.
-
noticed in the credits that someone played psylocke? I didnt notice the hottest super hero ever? Oh and i thought the movie was great, cant wait to see it in the theatres since i didnt download it and watched it in an undisclosed hotel room. With finished effects and some major tweaking to the ending it will be the best xmen movie yet. Oh and was anyone else surprised that wil I am can actuallly act?
-
When watching a television show or listening to a song on the radio, I will frequantly change channel when the ads are on, and when I do hear the ads, I usually don't purchase the product. Theft. When I do see a movie like X Men Origins: Wolverine, its usually when I rent them in a giant stack from the video store on those "Rent any 5 weeklies for 5 dollars" night. Frequantly, a shady friend will offer to let me listen to "this" on his Ipod on my lunch break. I am sure he did not sign a lisencing agreement whereby he could share musical content with others. Two other shocking examples. I borrowed a pirated copy of Taken and Gran Torino off a guy at work. I watched and enjoyed them. I then took my girlfriend to see Taken (fell asleep in the last 15 minutes though)and my dad to see Gran Torino. This unfortunately proved that piracy being the death knell of the industry is a bunch of horseshit, and therefore I hurt the film industries attempts to demonise it. Sorry film industry. Anyway, I feel for the guy who empties the bins on FOX PIECE OF SHIT # 4567 getting sacked because I watched a movie for free that I never would have paid to see anyway. I'm sure its that revenue loss of...0 dollars that caused your firing, and not greey fucking actors and executives over paying themselves.
-
Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit.
-
...I was being hypothetical there, since you'd have to PAY ME to download fucking Wolverine. Studios should just bite the bullet and do with the internet what they did TV, and get into the communication supply business. Pay your 60 dollars a month for ulimited broadband, download whatever the fuck you want from the Warners database. Jesus, just look at the bandwidth I've wasted on the Where The Wild Things Are trailer.
-
There was this guy bragging and talking about seeing the workprint. Which was stolen, so an illegal copy of the movie, unfinished and missing some special effects and scoring. oh wait.. wait.. no that was back in 2002 and that guy was Harry and the movie was Attack of The Clones.
-
www.myspace.com/martinjunior84. If you want a review off it becaus AICN doesnt have the balls to, check out my page and add me if you like what you read. By the way just because a film hits the internet a month a day or a week early, doesnt mean it still wont make its $$. If good word of mouth comes from the leak the studio makes its money back! Hell i saw the dark knight two week early before it was released! It became the 2nd picture of all time in america! So stop being spoiled, condone illegal activity, but not for profit!
-
...But does Beaks get paid for his work on AICN? If so, he's actually profiting from piracy and theft (intellectual and otherwise) as opposed to people downloading it for free, and not purchasing it off some dudes card table at a flea market.
-
...before Harry and the gang started sucking, slurping and swallowing the movie industries cock AND balls. Before you start complaining about how piracy is killing an embattled industry, maybe you should acknowledge the fact that poor quality, overpaid execs, bad deals and outsourcing have more to do with the state of the industry than a shitty download of a shitty workprint that will just turn out to be a shitty film when it's finished anyway. Do any of you have any integrity anymore? You gays are starting to sound more like paid off movie critics...oh sorry, I meant guys. Fags.
-
I wonder how much they got paid, seeing as they both end up with about a dozen lines of combined dialogue and three minutes of combined screentime. And goddamn Fox, I wanted a real Deadpool movie with Reynolds starring. What the everliving fuck was that monstrosity at the end? The Mute With A Mouth? Oh fuck you FOX, I'm glad I didn't pay a CENT for that TRASH.
-
The end.
-
Studios complain of workprint leaks. Fans complain of remake saturation. Look Fox, just think of the cinema relase as yet another fucking remake.

While I was trying to find a clip of Harry on CNN talking about AOTC I found this old interview... times sure have changed. Ebert sums it up perfectly at the end I feel http://tinyurl.com/d8afqp

I've been extremely busy today, and I have to run out in a couple of minutes. Still, I want to address some of your concerns/criticisms/opprobrium.<br><br> 1) This workprint was not meant to be screened. So it's *slightly* different from a test screening. Now, is a test screening meant to be reviewed? No - and that's part of the gray area I mentioned in the above article. That said, when a film tests, that means the filmmakers are comfortable enough with the film to solicit feedback from a recruited, non-pro audience (and AICN's been doing this long enough that most people reading the site understand this). Again, not the case w/ the WOLVERINE workprint.<br><br> 2) I probably could've worded the banning idea better. Basically, it was just an initial idea I had, and one I quickly abandoned because I knew it was unworkable. I also knew I was overreaching. But I really didn't want this talkback to become ground zero for reviews of the workprint - which I'm happy to say it hasn't. It's mostly become a "Bash Beaks" fest. And I'm honestly fine with that.<br><br> 3) It's odd to find myself in the position of defending Fox, but I'm 100% anti-piracy regardless of the studio. I've never been into file sharing or anything of that nature (from Napster onward). I prefer to pay for my movies and my music.<br><br>But while I sympathize with Fox's plight, I still think Tom Rothman is a micromanaging doofus who's compromised a number of potentially great films (see KINGDOM OF HEAVEN). And yet the man got MASTER & COMMANDER made. It was a passion project for him. So he's not all bad.<br><br> 4) I try to provide perspective when I run script reviews. I never give away third act twists and only condemn a screenplay when it is flawed on a conceptual level. (See my SEVEN SAMURAI remake review at CHUD.) If we started running WOLVERINE reviews, experience tells me that a majority of the write-ups would be pure vitriol. And since this movie is missing upwards of fifteen minutes (or so I've been told), it's probably a little early to throw it in the stocks.<br><br>Perhaps you disagree. Maybe you've got all the ammo you need from the workprint. I can't stop you from discussing it (and that's why I've only deleted one talkback, which was a direct link to one of the file-sharing sites). But I'm not going to pass judgment until we've got a screenable cut.
-
to the full extent.and force the FBI and the american justice system to hunt and hung those criminals in the most severe way. <p>this world will be a better place without movie pirates, even if killers, rapists, drug dealers, terrorists, sex slavers, etc are still out there. <p>not having mr rothman the money to get one more private jet plane,is a very serious crime than killing.go get them fbi.

Extremely silly to not post reviews. Does that ever happen?
by happybunni
Normally when you receive a review of an unfinished movie, there's a disclaimer. The reviews should be posted with disclaimers, same as they would be in any other case. Studios own AICN.
-
in all honesty what he just said clears up alot for me. Now all I want is Harry to say why hes being hypocritical when he himself has posted reviews about stolen pirated copies.
-
said pirated movie was weeks in advance as well (star wars)
-
You can't win. There will always be film pirates. Most people uploading don't make a cent of it anyway. If someone wants to watch a blockbuster film on a seventeen inch screen on a creaky chair. Let them. Yet why can't films be available for download on a films release? Everyone knows it's the future. So why not bring it forward.
-
wasnt being sarcastic i really enjoyed the movie, as an avid x-men fan growing up of course it had its problems but what super hero movie doesnt, is just as good as the first two
-
Dude- Cannon Films made some entertaining shit back in the day. I'm not saying their films were the greatest thing ever, but when you're feeling down in the dumps and need some cheesy 80's action, "Delta Force" and others like it are the way to go. Oh yeah- Harry and Beaks are a couple of fucking cunts. And Harry is a Maoist cunt to boot.
-
thank you AICN for bringing this to my attention. if it wasn't for you reporting about the leak, i wouldn't have known about it. off to pirate bay now.....

This movie is a joke, so how fitting for it to leak today.
by polyh3dron
Revenge is sweet. Fuck you Fox.
-
I'm just guessing here but a vast majority who viewed the workprint probably stopped watching a 1/4 through. Not because it was bad but because it had potential to be good(or at least rentable). I don't think Fox has too much to worry about with the leak but it will be an interesting experiment. And yeah, they SHOULD throw whoever leaked it in jail. I mean that's just some really lowball shit to be doing to any production.
-
http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,219185,00.html ''We don't know how he could have seen it,'' insists a Lucasfilm rep, who declined to comment on plot points or the apparent leak.
-
we all know you watched this movie, so lets relax on the "anti-piracy" schtick. if you were anti piracy you wouldnt be working for AICN, so shove it you dog
-
It needs more editing, the Escape from Alkali Lake needs to be more brutal it looked to me like almost no one died.. and hey maybe that's in the reshoot footage. In what I saw there's a good movie, is there bad acting, yes.. but you'll get that from most of your summer blockbusters. So I know I'll be seeing it again in theatres and I look forward to going back to and the workprint and comparing what I saw, and discussing the choices made between the final cut and the work print we saw
-
That is actually a pretty weak defense. We shouldn't enforce the law so long as there are worse criminals out there? They attempt to prosecute all criminals they can catch. Sentences are worse for worse crimes. And piracy does affect industries. Almost every single PC game company I enjoyed as a kid went belly-up, all citing piracy, or migrated completely to consoles, because it is harder to pirate on consoles. It is amazing that all the CRPG buffs I know played Planescape: Torment, but the company that made it no longer exists because I don't know anyone who bought it. When you don't pay for products, you are not voting with your wallet, and you don't get a right to bitch. The same idiots in these talkbacks who were trashing Watchmen and saying they'd boycott it are upset that movies like this are made. Sadly, this movie will probably make twice watch Watchmen did, and prompt sequels. What you need to do is financially support the movies that get it right (or at least mostly get it right like Watchmen) or don't bitch when those movies cease to exist.
-
Check out the first 2/3rds of X2, which are extremely efficient in their storytelling.
-
"It's mostly become a "Bash Beaks" fest. And I'm honestly fine with that."<BR><BR>So your saying its ok to bash you, hmmm well ok let me see even without your fucking permission we would be doing that anyway.<BR><BR>We dont need you to stroll along making a quick post before you *have* to run out telling us its ok to bash you..... OK.<BR><BR>Now can those who have watched it post FULL reviews in this TB with spoilers and feel free to mention it was AICN's attempt to get us all to boycott this POS film in the first place over the Watchmen debacle that led you to download it.

They round up a shitload of mutants to steal their powers to give to deadpool. captain picard...i mean, professor x shows up at the end of the flick. sabretooth saves wolverine at the end. they wipe out wolverines memory with adamantium bullets. ADAMANTIUM BULLETS
-
do u know that in the fbi's priority list for fighting crime, that their second priority, after terrorism,is movie/music/software piracy? <p>nobody said that the pirates,WHO SELL the stolen artwork, and not those who share it freely, shouldnt be prosecuted.ofc they must go to jail. <p>but i ask you,you as an american tax payer, what are the priorities you want the fbi to have in the war against crime? <p>do u want the fbi to spend its resources, money and people,in order to catch first a movie pirate or do u want to go first and catch a serial rapist, killer, drug dealer, sex slaver etc? <p>think about it.
-
Although it is a first of its kind to be pirated so early - it is after all - just a movie. Of course people put in countless hours to create the film. You run a site about movies - and you're talking about squelching people's ability to talk about what they have seen? If people don't want to read spoilers they won't show up. The movie industry is somewhat at fault for the piracy that happens. I can't believe they even do awards screeners anymore. Just have the lazy voters go to a theater where they can see the movie for free. Of course this is an inside job - but come on guys - this is a movie - not rocket science.
-
The FBI is concerned with federal crimes. And the United States has a horrid trade deficit because the world doesn't buy our products. The one thing the US excels in producing is intellectual property, which few people seem to pay for, especially outside the country. You can literally buy pirated DVDs, games, etc. on store shelves in Asia. If the rest of the world were paying the actual creators of these products, even at significantly reduced prices, the US economy would be MUCH better off. So yes, I want the FBI to make an effort to curtail piracy because intellectual property is crucial to the economic future of the country.
-
the FBI, AICN, The American Government, Wolverine, Rush Limbaugh, and the entire Republican Party. FUCK YOU ALL IN YOUR STUPID ASSES
-
Preach it! California, one of the biggest economies in the world is crumbling. Run into the ground by overtaxing, over regulation and big unions. Get rid of unions and the politicians that back them. The companies will again flourish including Hollywood.
-
I am confused if this is a fake article for April's fools day or a real story.
-
Wasn't that some shit? AICN has sold out, like, 8 or 9 times by now. This is getting to be old hat. <p> And there's nothing wrong with file-sharing, since it exposes you to music and movies you probably wouldn't have known about otherwise. Then when you discover something that's special, you'll fork over the dollars to own a better, physical copy of it. Quite simple. The studios are scared shitless, though, because they know 95% of their product isn't worth a pile of dog shit.
-
You fucked me up with X-men III, I'll contribute to fuck YOU up on X-men origins.
-
I will be there. Not even being able to see it a month early would stop me.
-
My mistake. I just assumed because I didn't like it and could only stomach the first 20 minutes, that everyone else felt the same way. I'm assuming that for the most part it's the same as the script which is floating around. God that script was fucking awful.
-
People do.
-
...because you "can't win". When you give up you end up like China where the only films that get made are prestige pics funded almost exclusively by the State and a non-existent software industry. Anyway what I love is how all the "hardass pirate" types in these talkbacks read like child molesters in training.
-
Now it's about Cowtowing to Hollywood and Comprimising Harry you got to start saying Fcuk the establishment if it cost you a interview so be it How much is you credibility worth.
-
I think his credibility is worth the admittance of one. About $11 sounds right.
-
yes the usa economy would have been better, but the ratio poor/rich would have been decreased? <p>ofc not.because as ,always, the majority of the pie,aka money, goes to the rich guys, those who control the economy and own the capitals. <p>do u know that the golden boys of your bank system, get bonuses while everyday more and more american citizens lose their jobs? why do think mr obama turned agaisnt these bank execs and demanded control of their doings? <p>a better economy is just numbers and statistics, but at the end of the day,the difference is the guy who owns a ferrari and the guy who hasnt money to eat.
-
a good example of the reality of this world. <p>the ford and general motors owners, visited mr obama in order to ask his goverment,to help the american automotor industry, now that there is a world wide economy crisis. <p>people who work in this industry will lose their jobs etc etc. <p>they aske from mr obama to lend them money in order to strengthen the car industry.several million dollars i think. <p> whats the funny thing? they travelled to meet mr obama, the usa president, with their super luxe private air jets.u gotta love the irony of it,right?
-
Yeh the American economy is in the tank but your still a few years away from being like say Brazil with a wealthy elite and then an extreme poor not a middleclass in sight.<BR><BR>My better half wants to adopt from some poor country and was thinking the Eastern bloc but if things get really bad over the pond we might have to rescue a colonial child and bring him/her back to the free world.
-
They have 2 reviews of Wolverine posted at www.mymavra.com. That's the website all the Ain't It Cool News talkbackers started. Now that I know it's that cool and it's not even finished, I can't wait to see this movie in the theater.
-
Good thing that cop's bullet in X2 didn't get through one of those holes. He'd have woken up and benn like "Shit, who am I? I hate when this happens!! Guess I gotta go to Japan and whine awhile." UTTER SHIT!
-
its an exageration how much money it causes a movie to lose. Wolverines a homo anyway.
-
Great news. Too bad I won't be able to pirate this POS. Bacci40, can you give me the address of the 7-11 where you'll be handing out copies?
-

...fail to see how this hurts movies. I'm not captain do-gooder by any means, but those who have downloaded it (and gloated about it here) are not helping movies get made. What do I care, you ask (no doubt posting some ridiculously witty and sarcastic comment)? And your justifications for getting back at fox are absurd...do any of those posters get out of their parent's basement? Contribute anything to the movie business other than being trolls? Doubt it.
-
...according to the talkbackers at aintitcool.com Because if you don't totally condone the illegal process of bootlegging, then you're not 'with it', and enjoy all manner of homoerotic intercourse with the proverbial 'man'! Get off you're high horses people, and do it NOW. You're embarrassing yourselves and the demeaning the very art form you claim to love so much.
-
But only after the first.
-
watch the film at a cinema, when its officially released, because i watched the pirated release, and yes the movies sucks badly. <p>does that make me a stupid person for saving my money,or a bad guy who hurts the film industry? <p>hmmmm
-
I just had a look at Tom Rothman's bio on Wikipedia and found out he's married to Jessica Harper. Now I hate that fucker even more.
-
If i download a movie, and it's great, or even just good, i will pay to go see it. This is the same for most people i know using torrents and file sharing. DONT MAKE BAD MOVIES and it wont even be an issue. Piracy will never be stopped, and with the economy going down hill, people cant afford to pay to see shitty movies anymore. Personally, i loved Wolverine and def will pay to see it next month, wish i had the chance every year to preview the summer blockbusters, toned down without effects and such. If the studies were proud of their movie, and embraced the age of the internet...they would make it available, i'd pay an Itunes type fee to preview an unfinished movie.
-
Piracy does hurt the film industry, but you know what hurts it more? Shitty Summer blockbusters with no soul, cynically put together by money men who no feel for the art or craft of cinema. These douchebags, and Rothman is merely a turd sitting atop a very large mound of shit, have no respect for the audience OR films in general. The X-Men series was once a pretty solid franchise but, just like many before it, the commerce has taken precedent over the art and the executives are happy to squander the goodwill of the audience. Wolverine is clearly a bad film, no matter how many flashy effects will be in the final film. Sure, I would have paid to see the thing and now I've saved my money. If it had been decent, or even half decent, I would have happily forked over cash to see it again on the big screen. Now I don't need to do that and I can use that money to go see something else. That's not hurting the film industry, that's hurting the box office of a shitty film and contributing to the takings of a, potentially, better one.

There is no rationale defense of piracy, its just cheap assholes
by dr sauch
Whether you think art should be free or not, if its not your art, and so you don't get to decide whether its free. If someone else makes something, and says you can't have it, and you take it, that's stealing. You can rage on all you want about the corrupt and predatory entertainment industry, but the fact of the matter is, unless you made it, you can't have it for free.
-
Wolverine and art form don't even belong in the same sentence. And your comment about piracy and being "with it" is a little short sighted. I constantly download stuff but am not deluded enough to think that my actions aren't illegal, nor do I think I'm any better than someone who doesn't download material. I know my actions are illegal but I choose to do it anyway.
-
I don't think art should be free, if the artist wants remuneration for their work. However, I wasted two hours of my life watching Wolverine this morning as you can rest assured: It's about as far from being 'art' as is humanly possible.
-
But I hope they clean it up in a month. I just skimmed over it, not really watching much. But the finale was god awful. A showdown with Deadpool should've been kind of cool, but was ridiculous. I hope that's the area that's getting some major re shoots.
-
If you admit that you just want free shit, that's cool. I want free shit as well. And I don't necessarily respect the artistic merit of fucking "wolverene," and its not like i'm taking money from starving artists if i download it, but to say that there is some meritorious reason to steal shit is absurd.

by DarfurOnTheRocks

Just for clarification, copyright infringement is not the same as stealing. Copyright is a chose in action. It's intangible property. To equate copyright infringement to stealing is theoretically and legally incorrect.

Piracy doesn't hurt attendance - shit movies do
by theghostofdonsimpson
I download movies. I especially like workprints, I like the look behind the scenes of the process. I also spend about £1000 a year on cinema tickets, the same again on DVDs, scores and published screenplays, so fuck anyone who says I'm hurting the industry. At the end of every calendar year every award-tipped film is hugely widely available in perfect DVD clarity, ripped from Awards screeners, weeks or months before they hit the cinemas, and they still deliver box office bank. This last winter you could download Slumdog, Gran Torino, Milk, The Wrestler, Benjamin Button, The Reader, Revolutionary Road and a load of others before any of them hit a cinema. Did it cause them all to flop? Did it fuck. What cause flops is bad reviews and bad word of mouth, both of which this piece of shit will receive if there is any justice in the world - I'm not going to review it here, but suffice it to say... Christ. Just... Christ. I want to weep for what the creators of Deadpool must be going through right now. Anyway, the alarmist rantings of the anti-privacy moral high horse brigade are just as flawed as the wannabe-anarchist, fuck money, everything should be free piracy supporters. The cinemas are full and yet the files are being downloaded over and over - the two things are barely related. Everyone needs to just calm the fuck down.
-
Fox isn't helping movies get made either. If you had seen this thing you'd know. <p><p> Oh, and Beaks: Thank god there's members of "Pro Audiences" around here like you. Go fuck yourself.
-
The fact that some of the effects are finished, I reckon that when it was being delivered to another effects house, the courier took a detour to his/her PC and made a quick copy... I still wouldn't have gone to the cinema to see it anyway...
-
Well said. At last, an intelligent response. I'm of the exact same opinion.
-
Well, the first 20 minutes is great as everyone has conceded. I'm still watching it so I we'll see how the rest turns out. I'll definitely pay to see this movie to support super hero movie cause.
-
Guys, shotgun slinger has basically said everything I wanted to say in relation to supply/demand and how films are consumed, supported and ultimately how franchises survive or perish. Whereas I have an almost sadomasochist affinity for Marvel screen translations, I will see Woverine, though I can't help but think that film will fail, regardless of how the geek community sees it. Best guess says there can be only two outcomes for the film: It opens big and the casual Wolverine fans, along with random action junkies give Wolverine a modest opening, after which word of mouth will all but sink it thereafter or (more likely) Wolverine may very well mark the one time I saw a fan community's outright revolt against one suit (Tom Rothman) actually slaughter a film's chance right out of the gate. And Fox? Oh well, you know what they'll say. "It was pirates I tell you! They killed our film!"...watch their board buy that too.
-
I'm sure he's actually thrilled with the way Deadpool turned out.
-
If I order a meal that sucks, I get my money back. Until we get something like that for movies, this is the best way to protect yourself. Prophylactic Piracy
-
Its copyright infringement Not stealing your taking anything away and trust me your still spending your time watching it and there no refund on time of life you'll waste.
-
Your statement is straight up false. They don't even target more substantial crimes that affect a greater number of people. Fraud being a case in point. In fact, most of the banks and insurance companies that were engaging in massive fraud have been rewarded for their crimes. This a crime that you should prosecute...Right after you get done with crimes which actually harm people. Torrenting in the western world has little effect on financial returns. Anyone saying otherwise is a straight up liar. Pirating throughout eastern europe and asia is different, but the arguement there is that the products they pirate are actually out priced for them anyway, and wouldn't be consumed. Also, the U.S. losing out due to intellectual property being so easy to pirate? Boo Hoo. You shouldn't have been so fucking stupid to start to center your economy around something that doesn't exsist. It's really hard to care at this point. You have no problem enslaving people in the third world to make products for you to sell at massively inflated prices so that bottom feeders in your country can have a luxurious standard of living, yet you want to begrudge a third world from using products designed by you, even though there is no way in hell they would ever be able to afford them anyway. Sauch, your talking out of your ass. If you read my posts, you know its not about free shit. I'd be happy to rock up and my multiplex and pay the 20 dollars to see Let The Right One In or All The Boys Love Mandy Lane. I'm not happy to pay 50 dollars a pop, wait a month, to take a chance on the flicks. Distribution companies, especially thouse like Miramax, don't respect the consumer, and as such, no one gives a shit when they get pirated. Look at Grindhouse, another film I downloaded. I'd happily pay 40 dollars to see it at the cinema (which ended up happening about a year after its release and the flop of Death Proof) yet The Weinstein company decided they didn't want Australians to see the movie. I don't get how the theft (of which they wouldn't notice) of a film they didn't want to sell me anyway matters. Nicodemus07 - Its not just the talkbackers who condone it, its just that some of us do it. Its the owners of the site who are actively making large amounts of money off of copyright infringement and bootlegging and intellectual property theft. Darth_Inedible - I hope your a studio lackey, because your post makes zero sense. China has a fucking huge film industry, funded by private sources. Software industry non exsistant? In a country where the government is actively opposed to tele-communications? No shit?
-
...To respond to all the anti-piracy people on the board, I can just spam two titles over and over. Gran Torino. Taken. Gran Torino. Taken. Gran Torino. Taken.
-
I know you're probably going to say it's a cliche, but you really ARE taking money from starving artists when you download it. Every 'assistant' whose job it was to get coffee for the big dogs who has aspirations to be a filmmaker is a starving artist you're taking money from. And another thing: Art is Art. Wether you agree with that or like it or not. The writer of this movie wrote something that he believed in. Gavin Hood did everything in his power to make this a respectable film. Heck, every production designer, costumer, and storyboard artist made ART that deserves to be respected. Just because every genre movie isn't Citizen Kane doesn't give you the right to decry it's very existence.
-
I'll pay for it when I want to see it.
-
grow some balls AICN
-
they go together like peanut butter and chocolate
-
I'll point you towards China's flourishing software and film industry... Oh. Or how about every other country's pharmaceutical industry that either steals or licenses our stuff. Yea, what a horrible plague on humanity the concept of intellectual property is.
-
"but you really ARE taking money from starving artists when you download it." "Every 'assistant' whose job it was to get coffee for the big dogs who has aspirations to be a filmmaker is a starving artist you're taking money from." They aren't starving artists. They are tea boys. I'm not taking money from them, Hugh Jackmans unjustifiable 15 million dollar pay cheque is. The fact that they are a completely unnecessary part of the film industry...a leach if you will, doesn't help either. In fact, if them being fired could lower the price of tickets, I'd be all for it. "Wether you agree with that or like it or not. The writer of this movie wrote something that he believed in. Gavin Hood did everything in his power to make this a respectable film. Heck, every production designer, costumer, and storyboard artist made ART that deserves to be respected." I don't know what fantasy world you live in, but everything you said is false. This film sucks. Thats why the leak is bad. Because everyone now knows it stinks. The people involved in the film DONT deserve to be respected, because they didn't do everything in the power to make a good film. They did everything they could to piss out a sub par product and walk away with a cheque based on the original artists good work in building a fanbase. This isn't Brazil or something similar, where, wether you thought it was good or bad, you could see a large amount of effort went into making it a great film. This is lazy hackwork by people making an easy buck off others hard work. The little people on the set, those who have no control over how the product turns out, well, they can go and do equally meaningless tasks on any other production. Do you think they hold the boom operator resonspible for the financial failure of a movie? There were quality work prints of the last Star Wars film doing the rounds weeks before its release. It didn't hurt, because people wanted to watch it. This is tenuous, because this film has looked like shit from the very beginning. If word is that it is shit, people might be relcutant to spend their money on it. Thats the way the cookie crumbles. If Fox really cared, they wouldn't have allowed the film to be leaked. Its not that hard in actuality. The idea that this was a deliberate leak from someone in the chain, either to deflect the upcoming financial disaster, or simply a disgruntled employee is likely, but if you have a decent product, you shouldn't fret. But, like most studios, they know they have a giant pile of shit they are trying to hoodwink the audience with, and are now sweating. tl;dr if you are worried about Australian film crews losing work, don't bitch about piracy, bitch about Brad Pitt pulling the plug at the last minute on an effects film, because he feels like having a holiday in france or wherever the fuck. Also gotta ask, how often is Beaks in melbourne, Australia? I mean, if its his friends losing work over this leak?

If I see it, I'll pay to do it.

Reality Check:Movie Companies make more money on DVD sales than on the theatrical runs of their movies.Watchmen is going to make Warner Bros. more money on the DVD sales.F*** you Rothman.

Watching a copy of Wolverine in no way takes money from an assisant who worked on it. The assisant has been paid for their employment, and they no longer have any financial link to the film. It's questionable if it even takes money away from the studio considering I had no intention of going to the theater to see it. You're right that "Art is Art", it was merely my poor attempt at humour when I said that Wolverine and art form don't belong in the same sentence. Artistic merit is of course no basis for awarding copyright. I wasn't decrying the existence of Wolverine, I was just saying that I thought it was terrible. I'm not saying the world would be better off if it never existed, but it would certainly be better off if the film was better than it is.

You mean like how U.S. firms move into India, and put a patent on local seeds, thereby cutting out the actual producers from making money from their own product? Chinas flourishing film industry? Are you joking or what? For a country with such a massive disparity between the rich and poor, like India, the fact that they produce more filmed entertainment than the U.S. is pretty impressive. Intellectual property is a fucking stupid idea to be invested in. Its like having the plans for fire. You think people are going to cease making fire once they know how, simply because they don't have a lisence? Invest in sticks and kindling, not the process. This is all a moot point in relation to the subject at hand anyway.

if this movie sucks or not; I still have the original graphic novel and the complete mini series that I bought when I was 7. Wolvie was a lot cooler before Hugh Jackman
-
...Would be more suited to the idea of Warner Brothers stealing the script and pre production notes/art for Wolverine, and shooting the same film starring Russell Crowe.
-
CGI, new footage, and a new score will not save this movie. Is it really that hard to take a graphic novel and flesh it out a little more. The changes to deadpool were horrible, let alone the horse crap that is the story.

we do,and what we do is make shitty movies."

...for trying to fuck with Watchmen. Karma's a sexy bitch sometimes.

"Oh, it performed poorly because it was leaked." In someone's coked-up world, that was a smart call. <br><br>I really wanted this movie to be great, what a disappointment. I mean c'mon, Liev Schrieber is a great actor. Paired with ackman, they should be tearing the screen apart, not squinting at each other in a coquettish fashion. Bring on Fantastic Four 3: Tokyo Drift. I don't give a flying fuck about Fox projects no more. I'll cut you, Fox.

Checked you-know-where and yes, there it is available for download. The pirates who did this timed it exquisitely because those who will report this happened will be suspected of playing a prank.

A response to the empty rhetoric of the nobility police
by IndustryKiller!
what kind of bullshit is this preaching anyway? "Whaaaahhhh People could lose their livelihoods whaaaaahhhh!!!!!" Bullshit. Everyone who worked on this film is already getting paid. It's not like they are gonna shut down what little pre-production (which is probably none) that they have left and screw these VFX guys out of their money. Or they'll ask the marketing team to return their paychecks. The ONLY people who stands to lose from this directly are big shot producers and actors taking money of the back end. And you know what, straight up, fuck 'em. I'm tired of this hollywood blockbuster pap that hits the streets every summer and is barely watchable garbage that easily entertained automatons lap up like mother milk regardless of the quality. And I'm even more tired of them doing it to films that utilize characters I have an affection for. I don't want this film to succeed. I didn't before the leak, I don't want it to after, and that is a PERFECTLY REASONABLE stance to take. <P> "WHAAHHHH If it fails it should fail on merit of it's quality not piracy WHAHHH!!!!" Nope, fuck you. The studios have made some kind of idiot faustian pact with the American public wherein if the film costs above 100 million and stars a comic book character the public MUST turn out in droves. It's a literally no fail situation for the studio. Well I want that to change, and if it changes, just this ONE time, then good. It couldn't have happened to a more deserving film. If the movie does poorly then maybe we get less X3's and more Irons Man/Dark Knight. If it succeeds we get more crap. There is no fucking way this isn't a good thing and aside from arbitrary moral standards no one has argued otherwise. <P> "But WHHAHHH all these people worked so hard WHAHHH!!!" Yes they did, but what stands out int he context of time is the quality of the work, not the god damn box office. That is just one tiny part of a films life. Those people still have every ounce of the work they put into it, it's all up there on screen. NOTHING was robbed from them so stop saying otherwise. Oh God forbid they get to see it for free. Well if it's art, and they already got payed, they shouldn't care. The point is people WILL see it, in some form. This isn't some little indie flick that could, it's a massive summer blockbuster, so no one is getting robbed of their recognition.<P> "WHHHAAHHH the lack of revenue is bad for the film industry WHHAHHHH" Yeah, but what if hte industry doesn't deserve that revenue? So now every film should do well on merit of a bad economy? Horseshit. Just like the downturn will force Ford to stop making shitty cars, some studios should be FORCED to make better pictures, and hot damn if Fox ain't the grandaddy of 'em all. They have it coming all the way around. Besides they WILL make big money on this film. The amount it will dent the box office will be negligible, unless bad word of mouth spread, in which case good riddance. But DVD and toy revenues will more than make up for it. Fox is going to turn a profit no matter what. So just sit back and have a coke and a smile and be happy that you saved some money.

Industry, this is what makes me laugh all the more...
by WhinyNegativeBitch
...We have Beaks, and no doubt some other folks from L.A. complaining that pirating Wolverine could cost friends jobs. Funnily enough, they seem to completely ignore the fact that their friends already lost work because greedy assholes like Fox took their production to Australia. Of course, the executives and above the line folk are still getting paid more than ever before.

GOOD. Anything I can do to help the existing studio system fail, I'll do it. People will still make movies, even if Hollywood is reduced to a smoking crater in the Earth... the only difference is, they might actually be movies worth watching, rather than just test marketed tentpole brand name cash-grabs. Thanks for the tip, Beaks, I'll help seed this.
